Love all the straight bridgerton fans like "why don't the make X character gay instead/introduce a new character, I'm not homophobic but they're ruining my favourite book/character"

Like people wouldn't say the same no matter what character your talking about, I've seen "X character should be the queer sibling, not X" about Benedict, Francesca AND Eloise, everyone's happy for a character to be gay as long as its not "their" character, you're so transparent

"I hope Michaela has a brother called Michael" I promise she won't to feel free to start getting over your shit "it's taking away a story for women who struggle with fertility" Francesca can still struggle with fertility, and in fact her desire to be a mother will add additional conflict to her eventual relationship with Michaela that will resonate with many people who struggle with fertility

"Eloise shouldn't be gay because we shouldn't stereotype that feminists are automatically gay" okay first off she's vocally stated she has no interest in marrying a man, also queer women have always been a huge huge part of the feminist movement so just stop

I don't think I've seen anything specific about benedict beyond "he has to end up with Sophie because she's my fave and they can't change that" and he's clearly bi so maybe he will end up with Sophie, but if he doesn't no one cares if you're butthurt about it, the book is there for you to reread

I've also seen a lot of people be like "why not make Gregory/Hyacinth the queer sibling instead?" making the characters that are children and won't have romance storylines for years is not the fabulous alternative you think you're suggesting, if they're queer AS WELL I'm all for it, but in the meantime considering this is primarily a romance show I'm gonna focus on the characters that are actual adults.

yes I am devastated about the death of Creloise, but I’m actually weirdly happy that Francesca is the first canon sapphic Bridgerton? Benedict being queer has made me so happy, but having the promiscuous second son and the man hating forward thinking woman be the two queer characters felt kinda on the nose stereotype wise. making Francesca queer is so much more interesting to me, because this season she has already become not only a fully fleshed out character, but one that does not fit neatly into any token queer archetypes.

I’m honestly beyond thrilled. it’s amazing thinking about how this show that is placed in the regency era who tried so hard to deny gay Benedict rumors in season one. after there was one queer side couple and then they ignored the gay thing for a season and now in 4 episodes they made two actual Bridgertons queer.

I like how Violet is so used to having dramatic ass children that Francesca marrying with no drama was too odd to her lmao. And thinking about how her story will unfold is actually kinda hilarious because it's gonna be like:

Violet: Well, that's it. John is a very good man and Francesca is comfortable and happy with her choice and if this is what she truly wants, it's all that matters💜

Violet: Also, it's kinda refreshing to finally have a normal child that doesn't do any dramatic or scandalous shit.
