Fancy seeing you here ; Technoblade x OC
Tumblr media
Warning: Mentions of blood, death, and murder (not necessarily but he does push her off of a cliff).
The Manberg vs Pogtopia War. It was no it had changed people. Nobody trusted anyone anymore and everyone had seemed to lose hope. But, there was a certain person that seemed to have a very tiny sliver of hope. She was there since the beginning, she was there to experience Dream and his army blow up L’manberg, she had witnessed the first of many o7′s. She’s been through it all and yet she lives. She lives to make sure she gets to witness greatness, a victory for the people of the DreamSMP who just want peace.
Her past was hard to come by, no one knew who she was or where she came from. All they knew was that she was royalty and that she was the center of SMP. She was of the Guardian family, her mother being the Queen and her father being the King and her grandfather was the Elder. She had missed her grandfather dearly ever since she was thrown out of the Ocean Monument. The reason is unknown even to her, but she went on her way and was saved by Wilbur, a friend till the end he had once said, but it was more so until her end.
It wasn’t until he showed up that she started to rethink her choices and remember her past. He had long pink hair that was often braided and was left to lay on his right shoulder. His crown sat neatly on top of his head and not once had it fallen off. The jewelry he wore was just as expensive as netherite armor and his cape was made of the softest of fabrics, but only she knew these things. He confided in her, as much as he could. She made him feel something that he hadn’t felt in a long time, something that made him feel like fighting for. Everyone was ready for the war, but not for the aftermath of it. But no one felt the true pain that Techno had felt when he saw her.
She stood there, hair blowing behind her as Wilbur stood next to her. They looked out at the others from the hole in the room that used to have all four walls, everything was blown up. And as everyone looked up at them, they felt the weight of what they’ve done fall onto them.
“I told you I would stick beside you every step of the way. Whatever you do next, I’ll stand behind it.” He looks at her, taking it all in.
She’s from a different place, she's not from here. Her voice was always dreamlike which made it hard to stay awake while she talked. Everyone always felt tired when she talked and it made it hard to do simple things like mine blocks since your body just felt tired so suddenly. But then, like a tidal wave, it hit him. She’s a Guardian, but unlike the name, she wasn’t meant to keep them safe. She, herself, was a product of war. He remembered reading about it as a small boy. She was meant to stop wars but she only brought it where ever she went.
As long as she were alive, there would be wars. So, he had to do the only thing he could think of. He had to kill her.
Walking behind her, he looked down to see how far the fall would be. He didn’t want her to suffer, just wanted to make it quick and easy. But he knew that it would hurt until her last breath. Turning her around, he could see her tears streaming down her face. She thought he was bringing her into a hug, oh how wrong she was.
“They’re not ready, yet.” And he pushed her off, letting her fall to her doom.
She wasn’t angry, no, that wasn’t what she was feeling as she slowly fell through the air. She knew it was inevitable, her demise. But she never thought it’d be brought to her by a caring friend, all wrapped up nice and even given a little ribbon tied into a bow for some extra pizzazz. But still, anger was the last thing she was feeling. If anything, she was feeling remorseful. She knew all along why she was there but she tried to bury it. Bury it away along with all the trauma she had stored with it along the way. She thought that six feet wasn’t enough so she doubled it and thought it was good enough, but as we know, it is never enough.
She felt sorry for all she had done, for everything she knew she could’ve stopped. And even though she was grateful that people cared for her, everyone's screams as she fell from the hole made her feel even worse. The façade she had that made everyone fall for her, made them feel the need to trust her, she was now hearing it all pour out of them like lava. She was sure they knew who she was by now otherwise she might’ve not died. Unless it was only then that Wilbur had figured it out, but she’ll never get the answer to that.
As her body collided with the blown-up earth, the screams seemed to stop. Everything hurt, but she knew it all be over soon. Then the screams happened again and she could hear them wailing on what used to be a street. But it got quieter and her ears started to ring as her heartbeat started to slow down and her breaths became short.
“Queensley!” Technoblade shouted as he slid down the leftover pieces of dirt and rocks. His eyes were bloodshot as the tears that once occupied his eyes began to dry.
Then did he see her, lying there in a pool of her own blood. A hole in her head from where she first made contact with the stone beneath her. And yet with all the death surrounding her, he still saw the beauty in her.
“Fancy seeing you here.” She gasped out. Her voice, even though raspy, still was dreamy.
“Are you alright? Do you need anything? Here, take my golden apple!” He rushed over his words as he rummaged through his bag, that was until her hand stopped him.
“I’m fine, how are you?” He looked at her, dumbfounded. She was slowly dying, and she was worried about him. But, he decided to play along. He didn’t want her to know that he was panicking, all he wanted was for her to be was relaxed and if that meant acting as if nothing was wrong, then so be it.
“You really scared me, Queensley.” She smiled at the name that she came up with on the spot the first day she showed up here.
“If you die... who employs butlers anymore?” She rasped out a laugh as she remembers when she forced him to be her butler for the day when he lost a bet.
“Don’t forget me.” She whispered as her last desperate attempt at staying alive failed.
“I won’t sweetheart, just promise me you’ll be good.”
All she could do was smile and look up at the sky as everything slowly drifted away from her.
Her death had a major impact on everyone. What seemed to bug everyone was why it happened. No one had a clear answer which started the rumors. They had started ones that she was also a traitor, which wasn’t a lie, there was even one that was said she was Wilbur's love interest that cheated on him but that was shut down fast seeing as though even in death, they still had respect for both of their fallen friends.
When Wilbur came back, Techno’s lost hope came back as well. He thought of all the places she could be, all the places where she must be scared or lonely, maybe even lost. But the second it was said Wilbur only remembered the good things made him scared again. He thought of how she was already losing her memory beforehand and remembered how she had hit her head which had to have caused something to happen to her already damaged memory.
He walked to her house in his last attempt at finding her. He hadn’t even opened the gates when he smelled homemade cookies and cakes being baked. Smoke rose from the chimney and he smiled remembering that during winter they’d snuggle up together on her couch with loads of blankets, hot chocolate, and the fire going. The cold bit at his nose but he didn’t care about any frostbite he could be getting. His girl was alive.
Walking in he saw her, covered in flour and her kitchen a mess as she danced around pulling trays out of the oven and putting new full ones back in. His chuckle startled her making the hot tray in her mitted hand fall to the floor. He stared with curiosity as she carefully picked up the tray with the surviving cookies and put them on the kitchen counter.
“Your security still sucks.” He laughs as she huffs her hair out of her face. Her skin was pale, showing she, like Wilbur, was now a ghost.
“Nobody's hunting for me.” He shook his head at her attitude that, even in death, was still there.
“I didn’t expect to see you again.” She whispered, eyes glazing over.
“We didn’t exactly get to say goodbye.” He choked out, eyes also glazing over.
“No, you’re right. We never did.” He smiled as she came up to him and hugged him, sniffling.
“I didn’t want to be rude.” He laughed out.
“I never said you were rude, I just said you could be a little nicer to others.” He smiled again.
And he and his Queen lived happily ever after.
Until the Resurrection Book was confirmed.

‘Children in football kits start kicking me up the bum’: my life as a mascot
Remember football – the crowds, the noise, the goofy beaver dancing on the touchline? Welcome to the weird world of the matchday mascot
There is no force in the universe more irresistible than a high five from Reading FC’s lion mascot, Kingsley. The only thing that comes close is a hug from Kingsley’s mascot wife, Queensley. Do not ask why a mascot needs a mascot wife, because I cannot explain that in any meaningful way. Mascots intersect society at the exact same angle as cereal box characters: we never question why they are there, what they mean, or why they never blink; but we do demand complicated backstories for them, and extended family trees.
Before all this happened – before the lockdown and the boarded-up pubs, and the groups of no more than two, and the two-metre distancing and the isolation and the ransacked supermarkets, and most crucially the suspension of every single sport on the planet, all at once – I became obsessed with mascots. There they were: jiggling, expressionless monoliths made of felt, pacing up and down the touchline, a seen-but-unseen aspect of modern sport, ever-present and never questioned. In the current void, you could be forgiven for forgetting all about them; but they are just as crucial to the matchday experience as the people kicking the ball, and the other people running after it, as crucial as being one 60,000-throated voice, shouting them all on, as crucial as the pies and the scarves and the long winding walk to the stadium, the urinal queues and the matchday programmes. And there, look: there’s a person in a bumblebee outfit, waving at you. Who are they? What are they for?

Accountants’ Conference asks FG to adopt education, prevention, sanctions in fight against corruption
Tumblr media
…Wants unemployment, poverty addressed by FG through entrepreneurship programmes for youths   The Accountants’ Conference of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has recommended a three-way approach to the Federal Government in its fight against corruption. The Conference urged the Government to adopt education, prevention and sanctions in its anti-corruption drive towards positioning the economy to grow in a sustainable manner. The accountants also called on the government to address the issue of unemployment and poverty by creating start-up entrepreneurship programmes for youths and supporting them with enabling environment and funding. These recommendations are contained in the communiqué issued at the end of its 49th Annual Accountants’ Conference in Abuja, which was attended by 5,653 participants from 14 countries. The communiqué was signed by the President and Chairman of Council of ICAN, Mazi Nnamdi A. Okwuadigbo (FCA) and Chairman of ICAN Conference Planning Committee, Queensley S. Seghosime (FCA). In the communiqué, the accountants’ conference emphasised the need for education through strengthening institutions such as revenue collecting agencies, the three arms of government, law enforcement agencies, regulatory agencies, political parties and electoral bodies to regularly train and retrain their employees. “Education should be given a pride of place as it creates awareness that enables citizens to easily identify where corruption exists,” it said. It also advocated the creation of the necessary environment to prevent “crimes of opportunity” by ensuring individuals and organisations operate within the shared fundamental traits that are grounded in law, particularly appropriate and prompt payments of remunerations. “Some of the agencies created to fight corruption appear to be overwhelmed by the enormity of the problem and have in certain instances adopted strategies that seem to infringe on the rights of citizens. “The sanctions to be meted out on corrupt citizens must be fair and not selective. It should not be seen to infringe on the rights of citizens. These institutions and agencies should demonstrate independence from government interference,” the ICAN’s Accountants’ Conference added. On public accountability, the conference advised the Federal Government to hasten the full implementation of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) to enhance transparency in public financial management and reporting. “Government institutions are accountable to their people and should use their resources judiciously and not mismanage them. Transparent leadership and governance will allow citizens to identify indicators of under-performance on the part of political leadership and exert well-targeted pressure to put them back on track,” it noted. On tackling insecurity in the country, the conference counselled the Federal Government to create employment opportunities as a means of curbing insurgency as well as develop sustainable strategies to manage the impact of climate change in the Borno State and any other part of the nation facing security challenges. The accountants’ conference said, “Security is evidently the pillar upon which every meaningful development could be achieved and sustained. Many had hoped that the return to democratic governance in Nigeria would address insurgency and restiveness. Instead, insecurity remains one of the major obstacles to development. “The Conference considered the case of Borno State where insurgency and climate change had destroyed over 75 per cent of developmental infrastructure and forced about 80 per cent of livestock farmers and pastoralists to migrate from the Lake Chad Basin to the Middle Belt and other parts of the country. These have caused unfortunate clashes between herdsmen and farmers.” Other recommendations by the accountants’ conference include: · On infrastructure, the conference recommends huge investment in power lines and substations through the rehabilitation of abandoned equipment; dealing with under-performing contracts; re-conductoring of 132KV lines; vigorous pursuit of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative on hydro and other sources of power; accessing and re-assessing donor-funded programmes and their management; and in general adopt a disciplined application of market rules. · Government should take advantage of the Nation’s young and growing population of professionals to be leaders in the area of disruptive technologies. This would require upgrading the curriculum of the entire educational system. · Accountants are advised to skill up and adapt quickly to the new changes. The accounting profession’s response to cyber risk should include focusing on business-critical data, new controls around detection, response, resilience and a dynamic externally focused approach. · Governments at all levels are advised to place high premium on Accountability by fully embracing the ICAN Accountability Index (ICAN-AI) programme. · As watchdogs in organizations, accountants should continue to enable practices that ensure the judicious use of resources and demonstrate honesty in the discharge of their professional duties. Accountants are enjoined to embrace the Non Compliance with Laws and Regulations (NOCLAR). · There is the need to attract more people of proven integrity into the political space to occupy positions of leadership based on merit. Persons who are under investigation should not be given political appointments until they are cleared by the appropriate authorities of any wrongdoing. · In line with the ICAN motto – Accuracy and Integrity – Chartered Accountants are encouraged to get involved in active politics so as to contribute their quota to the quality of political leadership in Nigeria. · The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) recently issued Letters of Substitution to commercial banks in Nigeria (“the Substitution Banks” or “SBs”), appointing them as tax collecting agents for certain listed customers (“affected companies”) maintaining bank accounts with the banks. FIRS, by the Letters of Substitution, intended to improve government’s tax revenues by increasing the base of tax-paying entities in Nigeria and thereby limiting the high incidence of tax evasion in the country. The Conference condemned tax evasion but whilst acknowledging the powers of the FIRS to recover taxes payable, advised FIRS to follow due process and respect the rights of taxpayers in its strategic drive at increasing revenue.
