the queen of swords reversed tends to indicate that you or someone you know is being overly critical of a person or situation. to me this is saying that you need to detach yourself from these overly critical thoughts and actions so you don’t put yourself in the position of possibly getting hurt by these same thoughts. try not to let yourself get too defensive about any criticism you may be receiving over the next few days, just let it wash over you!

you know i had to be extra and take pictures of my top three decks with a few of my favorite cards from each deck since i can’t choose just one ((i also linked all of the decks if anyone was interested))

now in no particular order we have the cirque du tarot by leeza robertson, deck of origin: the ever grande arcana by rodrick josé ruano, and the star spinner tarot by trungles

these three decks are in my top three for varying reasons but they’re the decks i find myself grabbing for personal readings!

the cirque du tarot just has a beautiful color palette and the court cards are all the same card with minor details changed and i love it for some reason. like all of the queens face the same way and all of the kings face the same way, stuff like that! it’s also very comforting to read with, not too hard but not too soft either

the deck of origin deck was the first deck i preordered and waited months for so that added to the excitement of a POKÉMON THEMED TAROT DECK! the cardstock is also so buttery and smooth. it’s like linen but not? i don’t know how to explain it . everything about it is perfect to me

the star spinner tarot is one of those decks you buy in a whim without thinking much of it but the fact that there were four different lovers cards shot this deck up to my favorites list. there’s only one other deck i’ve seen that has inclusive lovers cards and it’s an indie deck. not only does the deck have different body types, skin colors, etc. but it’s very fairy tale-esque so it’s very comforting and easy to read with no matter what type of reading you’re using it for!

Overall Rating: 7.5/10

Personal Opinion: A hilarious novel about a gay boy who accidentally slips into the past to fix a tragic present. Luis just wants one thing, to dance with his boyfriend at prom. But his not-so-progressive boarding school won’t allow that. Even his mother won’t allow it. And all because of what happened to a gay kid 35 years ago. But maybe there’s a way for Luis to change that kid’s fate.

Do I Own This Book? Nope.

Spoilers Below For My Likes & Dislikes:

Likes:

- The fact that we basically got the ultimate happy ending sort of makes the stress worth it. I mean, not only is Chaz alive but he ended up marrying his high school sweetheart, Ernie. Antic Springs Academy is also the most progressive school in the country now thanks to all of Ms. Silverthorn’s efforts. And Luis’s mom is more supportive than ever of her gay son and wants him to live his best gay life with Cheng at the prom. It honestly can’t get happier than that. Not to mention the fact that Mr. Buckman is no longer a 60 year old lecher perving on teenaged girls at school. So yeah, a super happy ending.

- Luis has a great sense of humor. His conversational and parenthetical-filled POV was so entertaining, immersive, and easy to read. It set a good pace for the book and I really enjoyed it.

- Leeza is a badass for busting into the council and exposing her perverted lover to save her friends from expulsion. And to bring physical proof with her too. She really ended that man and his whole career.

- Ms. Silverthorn is the queen of this novel. She had no real reason to believe Luis nor was she obligated to protect him and yet she did. She went out of her way to protect him and Chaz from punishment and she did her best to make the school a safer place for queer students. Teachers like her are few and far in between but I absolutely adore her.

Dislikes:

- Fuck Gordo and Vin Weasel and Red and Buzzcut. Disgusting homophobes who are probably responsible for Chaz’s death in the original timeline. I wonder what had set them off though. It’s not like he kissed Luis in the original timeline so how did it lead to Chaz dying? Plus, Chaz didn’t seem like he was going to be coming out anytime soon either until Luis showed up so how did all this happen?

- The biggest issue I have is that Luis isn’t the most rootable main character. He’s self-absorbed and kind of arrogant and he has this attitude that overall makes him feel… sour. I don’t know, he just fell flat for me. Like he referred to Leeza as his best friend but they knew each other for less than a week and had maybe one solid interaction. Maybe that’s why it felt flat. They only had one week together before he went back to the present.

- Luis also messed around a lot in the past and it freaked me out so bad. Like Ms. Silverthorn told him not to fuck around and he did exactly that! And he turned out to be right for nearly outing people and shit? I don’t know, it just bugged me a lot.

- Cheng feels… flat too. He just doesn’t really have a personality because he barely showed up and he just went along with any and everything that came out of his boyfriend’s mouth. He felt like a doormat. A pretty, athletic mat. The most personality we really got was the promposal flashback which was admittedly very sweet and very perfect for an attention hog like Luis.

Midnight Mass Spoilers Below

How did Father Paul “die”?: An analysis. 

I rewatched Midnight Mass this past week and I still couldn’t tell how father Paul died. I had two theories and I decided to investigate both of them, but now someone just told me that the second one was confirmed as the real reason. Anyway, I wrote the post already, so here’s my analysis on father Paul’s death:

1. Bev killed him: This was my first thought. On Book III: Proverbs, after Leeza’s miracle (On Book II: Psalms), father Paul runs to his little house because he gets sick. Bev follows him like the annoying bitch she is and once in there, she sees the old photo of Monsignor Pruitt and she realizes the resemblance between these two. Then, we receive a little cute montage of everyone on the island just living life and being happier (I love this part, so wholesome). During this we see Bev putting back a bottle of rat poison. Did she use it to kill father Paul after finding out who he really is? I mean, maybe she figured out what was going on and killed him to prove he was a miracle but, is she that smart? After all, father Paul death was VERY similar to Pike’s, this is what made me think about Bev, but here’s the issue with this theory: On Book II: Psalms, we see how Bev poisons cute little Pike just because she found him annoying (Bev is literally the worst, what can I say?), so maybe on On Book III: Proverbs, she was just putting back the poison she used for this horrendous task. ALSO, father Paul got sick right after Leeza’s miracle. This takes me to the second theory.

2. The vampire blood father Paul was drinking eventually killed him:  On Book III: Proverbs, we see how father’s Paul health starts declining. First after Leeza’s miracle, as I already mentioned, and then he collapses on mass later on the show (poor little meow meow). Here’s when they call Dr. Sarah and she explains that his body is fighting a virus. This moment is so wholesome because he tells Sarah how proud he is of her since she takes care of her mom and all the people on the island and Sarah is like “thank you???” but now we know why he said that and it’s just such a cute moment. 

After this, he gets sick again on the AA meeting with Riley and Joe, but this time when he goes back to his house he gets a seizure and dies (Bev’s heart is broken at this point, she really had a crush on him lol I mean, don’t we all?). Right here is when we get a throw back and see how he was attacked by the angel at the cave. The angel sees him and feeds on him right away but for some reason, he shares his blood with Monsignor Pruitt and next thing he wakes up young, super hot and wearing skinny jeans (not really tho but just imagine lol). The sun doesn’t burn him because he's not fully a vampire, he didn’t die, the angel gave him the blood before this happened. Later on the show we’ll find out that you must drink the angle’s blood and then die to fully transform. 

Then, father Paul just keeps feeding on the blood as we can see and at some point, his body is not able to digest it (?) and he fully turns into a hot vampire priest. Now he can’t go out in the sun, he’s hungry for blood and he appears even younger. I saw a post about this “looking younger” theory and I believe it too. When Millie dies she’s still not her younger self since she has grey hair, but when she comes back as a vampire she’s young and her hair is brown now (yasss queen we stan). 

This is how I see father Paul’s death. The issue with this theory is that we don’t get to see other characters on the show turn into vampires just for drinking the blood, but let’s not forget that father Paul has been drinking the blood for way longer that the rest of the island. We don’t see this process on other people because there’s no time for this to happen, they all die so there’s no other option lol.
