Apropos nothing... Everyone always talking about quantum computing and quantum information as the big second-generation* quantum-tech applications. (Someday I will get into what I think about quantum computing.) But there's a whole world of quantum sensing out there that's way more successful, starting with atomic clocks, which are already an established second-gen quantum technology.
Here's a recent result in quantum sensing:
* First-generation quantum tech is things that rely on the quantum nature of materials. The whole semi-conductor industry, and lasers, are the primary examples. Second-generation quantum tech is technology that relies on quantum control: the active building and control of quantum systems. By far the earliest example, and the most commercially advanced, is quantum clocks. But there are other types of quantum sensors on the market (mainly quantum magnetometers).

"It's hard to tell when you're catching some rays at the beach, but light packs a punch. Not only does a beam of light carry energy, it can also carry momentum. This includes linear momentum, which is what makes a speeding train hard to stop, and orbital angular momentum, which is what the Earth carries as it revolves around the sun.
In a new paper, scientists seeking better methods for controlling the quantum interactions between light and matter have demonstrated a novel way to use light to give electrons a spinning kick. They reported the results of their experiment, which shows that a light beam can reliably transfer orbital angular momentum to itinerant electrons in graphene, on Nov. 26, 2024, in the journal Nature Photonics.
Having tight control over the way that light and matter interact is an essential requirement for applications like quantum computing or quantum sensing. In particular, scientists have been interested in coaxing electrons to respond to some of the more exotic shapes that light beams can assume."

idk how else to explain it to people but it should be pretty fucking obvious why it is absolutely ludicrous to allow the united states fucking government to set the criteria as to who is and is not recognized as native/indigenous/ndn when they spent literal centuries trying to undermine and erase the fact that we exist at all.
it's no coincidence that some of the criteria involved in becoming federally recognized as a tribe requires documentation that the government actively worked to suppress. that they require the tracing of continuous existence back to colonial contact should tell you why it's a bullshit metric. that the fact that you have to have heaps of money to get federal recognition is something that you should take a long, hard look at before calling members of over 400 non-recognized tribes 'pretendians'.
the use of blood quantum as a measurement alone makes their authority null and void.
indigeneity is not about blood quantum or government permission. it is about family, culture, and community. i for one would appreciate it if non-natives fucked all the way off on this topic, and if fellow ndns would stop the infighting over it long enough to realize that all we're doing is perpetuating colonizer violence and genocide by allowing non-natives to set the definition of who we are and what we get to call ourselves.
fuck you. stop doing the colonizer's job for them.

i feel like sometimes we try to justify our reasons for shifting. like “i shift for adventures” “i shift for a specific person” “i shift to escape this reality” etc. if you want to shift that’s good enough reason honestly. even then you don’t need a specific reason.
just a thought idk go shift besties!

just saw sb saying that by manifesting an SP you’re taking away their freewill…
tell me you don’t understand the law without telling me you don’t understand the law?!
manifesting an SP — whether that’s a friend, spouse or anything like that is not manipulating them… how are you manipulating anyone by changing your thoughts??? the answer is… you’re not.
by manifesting an SP you select a certain version of that person, like selecting a version of them that is in love with you.
i personally believe in the multiverse, so i believe manifesting can be done and often is by shifting, example - appearance changes.
^ but so can SP manifestation or revision or anything like that.
so you shift to a reality or select a reality where your SP is in love with you or your best friend or is the kindest person ever to you, whatever you want.
you are not taking their freewill away.
you are not manipulating them.
they are what you assume they are.
people reflect your assumptions!!!
so it’s like a blank canvas until you assume them to be one way or another.
you manifest your whole life on an autopilot, unfavourable and favourable shit, mostly never intentionally, the only difference is with SP you focus on what you want to experience instead of letting it be one way on autopilot.

So my name is raven, right. Here and in my MCU Dr. But DC universe doesn't exist over there, so my vigilante self is called Starfire and there is no one else, fictional or otherwise, called that.
So I find it so funny when I tell people my name's raven and people say to me here " what about Starfire" or something referencing her because everytime I'm like "🧍‍♀️don't say it don't say it don't say it" I'm her too

I am watching a friend playing Outer Wilds and he is almost not so far to find the dlc...and I realize what if Gabbro arrived at the good moment to see the Stranger? Could they have the curiosity to go there? If they did it...how their journey could be? I feel the urge to think about that possibility or write a fic about that what if.

I feel like the fabric of spacetime makes more sense if it were actually the ocean of spacetime but aparently space has very little particles from a relative standpoint. dumb. those are dark particles and they're my friend

nuclear fusion can also be a metaphor for “star-crossed” lovers. if you think about it.
two protons, repelled by each other’s electrical barriers, can only ever touch under conditions of extreme heat (I’m talking 15 million degrees Celsius i.e. inside the Sun’s core) which cause them to accelerate to speeds enormous enough to overcome that repelling force which grows exponentially as the distance between the protons decreases, and only then, if they manage to get close enough, will quantum mechanics kick in and allow the protons to tunnel through each other’s repulsive electrical barriers as if by magic, and finally unite.

I don’t think he’s actually that villainous as he was in Time Breaker, since Alan is writing this and he’s hosting, but Mr Door could be the most evil character ever and I could never hate him. he’s too funny and charming
