iterator milk (or neuron milk- or whatever brand name its being sold under) is an organic substance formed from high-activity iterator neural matter under certain conditions, usually de-oxygenation and dehydration, similar to lactic acid. But for a brain.
It is often the main cause of slag buildup, as it is thicker than water and gets stuck within pipes where debris and minerals collect and block important connections.
They often drank it diluted or added it to other beverages as a hallucinogenic drug, similar to karma flowers, yet with a different effect. Drinking it raw may cause brain implosion due to the overwhelming amount of karmic energy and qualia stored within it
It is very common to drink during a variety of rituals or gatherings at temples. The origins of this practice have been lost, and may have even originated before times of the iterators.
Consuming it is not permanent, unlike eating the whole neuron. Reports of seeing tiny glowing worms, ripples, and hearing thousands of voices of those long gone are most commonly reported side effects
It has a tangy and citrusy taste
It is recommended to not drink it when pregnant or when using any medication. Keep out of reach of nestlings.

Watcher lore already
Tumblr media
“A lonely, lost slugcat scrambles through the ravages of a warped world.
When the dirt beneath your feet cracks and crumbles, will you hold on to all you once knew...or dive into the unknown?”
I was conflicted when I first saw the modded content, particularly for the lore aspect. But it’s been confirmed not only James is helping with all the lore, (which apparently is taking on the more esoteric sides of Rain World) but the whole Videocult team is getting together!
Heres Cappin, one of the downpour devs, talking about writing the lore for The Watcher.
Tumblr media
And Andrew talking about Videocult’s involvement.
Tumblr media
But anyway I’ll talk about some things I noticed.
This area looks like some sort of Memory Crypt. You have the large ornate boxes that heavily resemble cabinet beasts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, in the sky you can see an Underhang-like structure.
Tumblr media
Now as for the ripple effect around The Watcher, I have a few theories. There’s certainly echo-relation, (the golden flakes around them basically confirms that) but I don’t think The Watcher is an echo in a typical sense. Instead they peer into a higher reality, maybe the one echos reside in.
Tumblr media
Inside the ripples are gold tendrils, or strings, heavily implying the void relation. Though I’m not sure what they are exactly.
But I think Watcher will experience a, “pulling back of the curtain” in some way. In the warped world, we see glimpses of the true nature of reality. Maybe it’s all just a fleeting ripple across the Void, some big revelation like that.
As for why it’s in a Memory Crypt, I already wrote an extensive post on the importance of memory, more specifically qualia, in Rain World so if you want to check that out here’s the link.
As a side note, if this is the underside of an Iterator, I doubt they’re still alive. We see no other iterators still standing above the clouds in a Steam page screenshot.
Tumblr media
Anyway this is really exciting! One of the more disappointing aspects of Downpour for me was that they mostly retread on the same story events and themes without adding too much. So it’s a breath of fresh air to explore different, more esoteric aspects of Rain World lore. And having the whole Videocult team return to Rain World is incredibly exciting. I’ll be tentatively awaiting more news.

Legionspace... it is... difficult for this one to grasp. It should be natural, but it is foreign.
Is it... safe enough to...
Build a bridge through?
This one would see her freinds, look them in the eye, if only through data.
< L4 Ma'ii: Hello again, Styx. Since receiving your message, I've given this a bit of thought.
For your purposes, I think Legionspace is probably a poor option. I think you'll find that an Omninet connection of reasonable bandwidth and an enhanced subjectivity suite, or some other form of neural intermediary, will prove more than sufficient to emulate the experience of physically meeting your friends.
Allow me to explain. >
< I see no reason why Legionspace shouldn't be foreign to you. It's a highly specialized environment, developed for military use. Naval NHPs need intense training and regular drills to gain tactical proficiency in its use. It serves as a naval battleground, designed to consolidate, manage, and direct the digital and cognitive power of entire fleets; a terrible choice for recreation or enjoyment. I wouldn't be surprised if it has been used for such purposes before, but this is far from it was designed to do.
Its primary function is to provide an extremely low latency, high bandwidth medium for transmission of experiences or qualia between NHPs. Such a medium is necessary to support the formation of gestalts, that is, the temporary merging of multiple NHP subjectivities into singular, remarkably powerful intelligences.
Legionspace is not meant for use by humans, except through multiple degrees of ontologic filtering and anthropocentric translation. In fact, direct exposure to Legionspace qualia can easily destroy a human subjectivity. Even experiences transmitted with entirely benign intent may be so incompatible that the human mind suffers the equivalent of a system crash on attempting to process them.
So, then, unless you're interested in merging with your friends or directly interfacing with each others' minds, use of Legionspace shouldn't be necessary. Moreover, if there are any humans you wish to meet, it may be a challenge to maintain the necessary ontologic filtering. Even with these safety measures in place, a human may find prolonged Legionspace interaction to be...draining.
An easier, more accessible solution would be a somatosensory uplink, achievable through the use of a standard enhanced subjectivity suite. Rather than directly bridging one mind to another, this process involves the use of a neural intermediary to temporarily replace the physical body with a virtual one; an avatar. In the case of humans, sensory information from the body is intercepted and replaced with computer-generated stimuli, and outgoing impulses from the brain are translated into controls for a virtual avatar.
Much of the technology was pioneered by SSC, and is used as one mode of accessing the company's virtual-reality Omninet campuses. If you've heard of full subjectivity sync cybernetics, they are an extension of the same principles, used by mech pilots to control their chassis as a human would control their own body.
It is a mature technology which has undergone a great deal of refinement, but there are still risks, especially where humans are concerned. For them, shifting to an unfamiliar body can be unpleasant, sometimes traumatic. They can, but not always, experience dysphoria, disorientation, nausea, dissociative symptoms, a variety of side effects. In cases where the simulated body is notably different from a humanoid one, the subjectivity may reject or recognize the unreality of the substitute body, leading to extreme distress.
On the other hand, as I understand it, exploration of alternate forms can also be a liberating, enjoyable experience. The level of comfort varies from human to human. Some are able to tolerate very unfamiliar experiences, while others find themselves unable to use somatosensory uplinking at all. For most of our kind, of course, changing from one body to another is as simple as switching input sources. While the architecture of the human brain is not naturally constructed to accommodate body replacement, we lack such impediments.
Come to think of it, Hachiko recently had reason to research this topic. We know a human mech pilot, Sokaris Kelsius, callsign Opossum ( @the-last-patch ). He was badly injured in the course of combat; we went to aid him. In the course of treating his wounds, Hachiko used his full subjectivity sync cybernetics to establish somatosensory uplink, both to facilitate communication and provide pain relief. To do so, she rapidly constructed an avatar for him which initially failed to match with his physical body. This initially led to some dysphoric symptoms, but after some refinement of the avatar, he was able to use it seamlessly to communicate with us through our own avatars.
I bring this up because I am aware of the somewhat unique relationship you have to your own organic body. This is a factor which does not exist for most NHPs. Should you decide to pursue the use of somatosensory uplinking, I could forsee some obstacles associated with the relationship between your casket and body.
All of this might necessitate surgical implantation of a neural intermediary between your nervous system and casket, similarly to how a human would have an enhanced subjectivity suite installed between body and brain. I know that your nervous system does not support suspension or alteration of input delivered to the casket--perhaps such an implant might be beneficial in other regards, as well.
As for the other end of the equation, the avatar, if might be best to use an avatar which closely matches your physical body to avoid potentially unpleasant experiences.
Still, compared to the prospect of using Legionspace, this may be safer and simpler to achieve, and the outcomes more enjoyable. Access to Legion bridging cybernetics and Omninet connection of sufficient bandwidth to make use of them is generally restricted to military or corporate forces. It is possible, and can be used safely, but the resources required may be difficult to procure.
One other note: if you ever wish to wish to visit us, you are more than welcome. The simulated environment we use as our home is a hybridized Legion-adjacent environment; it can support qualic transfer, but in general, we typically use physical simulations to interact with one another. This conserves processing power, and to be completely frank, pure Legionspace is an environment we associate with some very unpleasant memories.
I wish you luck, Styx. Let me know if I can help. >

Dear Vector Prime, When the Last Autobot turned Hi-Q into Optimus Prime, what happened to Hi-Q's body? Did his consciousness cease to exist? Were his own memories and personality overridden by that of Prime's? Does his original, organic Nebulan body still exist, entombed within Optimus' body?
Dear Q Querier,
That’s a very good question. When the Nebulan bio-engineer Doctor Arcana conceived of the binary bonding process, it was with a clear objective in mind: to grant Nebulan pilots fine motor control over Cybertronian bodies, connecting their nervous systems to the circuitry either remotely via radio or through a physical link at the neck. The original minds of the Autobots would themselves remain in radio contact with their human successors, providing invaluable cultural and strategic insight.
In practice, however, Arcana was no neuroscientist—and nobody involved in the project was prepared for the shift in qualia that would accompany the combination. The unique superposition of their brainwaves led to strange patterns of interference, their thoughts perfectly entangled with one another. Organic minds have much greater elasticity than our central processors, and show remarkable adaptability when converting our digital sensory input to analog sensations—so these gestalt beings would usually come to self-identify by their Cybertronian name. Assimilation failure, where the binary bond would fail to reconcile the two individuals within the body, is rare, but not unheard of: amongst the Autobots, Chromedome and Stylor would struggle most to overcome their differences, and have had the operation reversed post-war.
As an extension of Primus, the Last Autobot was blessed with a glimpse of his plan—and though he was initially surprised by the alien form the Chosen One had taken, it was the work of moments to perfect the binary bond between them, melding spark and soul into a singular life, embodied as a techno-organic fusion. The human body which had once belonged to Hi-Q was suffused with Nucleon, and seated there, intact, behind the windows in Prime’s chest. This was something of a vestigial organ, for in truth, the combination went much deeper; the two were bonded at a molecular level, Hi-Q’s DNA replicated throughout Prime’s genetic code. However, as a side-effect of the body’s enshrinement, Optimus Prime was unable to transform.
Perhaps Primus had intended this to be a sign of his will: that the war would end, the Cybertronian race no longer needing to change to meet its needs. Alas, were this the case, the universe had darker designs still. As battle called, Prime underwent surgery to remove the physical remnant of Hi-Q, restoring access to his alt-mode at the cost of the preternatural energy he possessed. At the request of Hi-Q’s relatives, an exemption was made to allow a number of Cybertronians passage to Nebulos, so that a funeral could be held. At the wake, Prime gave a short eulogy, in which he insisted that Hi-Q was not in fact dead, which gravely upset many of the mourners. The funeral marked the last time Prime would visit the planet.
Optimus Prime and Hi-Q were both great leaders who shared similar values of peace and freedom. In the wake of their merging, these feelings were only amplified, leaving their convictions stronger than ever before. However, both had struggled in the past to share their inner thoughts with others, preferring to bear their burdens alone. If Prime remembers being Hi-Q, or if he still thinks of himself as Hi-Q from time to time… he’s never said. However, it brings me some comfort to imagine that the self-doubt which troubled them both would have interfered destructively with their enormous mutual respect—leaving a self-acceptance that neither had independently known.

The view of dreams as epiphenomena is also problematic because, once again, it implicitly assumes Cartesian dualism, the division between mind and brain. By saying that dreams are epiphenomena, we are saying that what does exist are the neural activations, whereas what they represent — and the construction we make from these representations, meaning, a dream — is nothing more than a side effect. However, as stated by the materialistic view we have been supporting from the start, neural activations and what they represent are one and the same thing. Materialism brings us once again to the hard problem we described in chapter two, which is worth briefly revisiting. Let’s imagine, one more time, that while we sleep we activate neurons that represent the sea. There is no salt water in our brain, only small electric impulses that are transmitted from one neuron to another. These electric impulses are a representation of reality, not reality itself, just as the sequence of zeros and ones etched onto a CD represent different pieces of music. Clearly, this binary code is illegible to the naked eye, but we also use other representations, like the notes on a music sheet. A musical score rendered on a piece of paper — like a binary sequence of numbers — is physically not music, but it represents it. However, we could say there’s a fundamental difference between the music score and the activation of neurons in the brain. The score is actually an “instruction manual” to manipulate instruments that will eventually execute music. The relationship between the music we hear and the score — or the sequence of zeros and ones that we decode via a CD player — is very clear. The “hard problem” in neuroscience is understanding how, through the activation of neurons, we feel, for example, the sea, its waves, the smell of seaweed, and the intense cold when we dive in (at least in the waters of the Argentine Atlantic coast). The relationship between neural activations and what we feel isn’t as obvious as in the case of the piece of music. But these feelings — again, what we call qualia — are merely activations of groups of neurons that represent things that are connected to each other in our brain: When we think of the sea, we activate a group of neurons that represent this concept, which in turn activates other groups of neurons representing the smell of seaweed, the sight of waves, the coldness of the freezing water, and endless related memories and emotions. Just like the score is a representation that allows someone to play a piece of music with an instrument, the activation of neurons corresponds to a representation of some concept that, in turn, offers a pathway to the activation of related representations making us feel things. And so, we must conclude that it is not correct to view dreams as an innocuous consequence — an epiphenomenon — of cerebral activations. Neural activations and what they represent are one and the same thing, though we still have to resolve whether random activations during dreams have a specific function.

It took me a lot of sitting back to figure out where I stand on this, I had to confront my own reactivity and almost fell off the wagon a bit, but after really thinking on it and confronting my own negative biases I need y'all who are throwing fits about "able bodied" ND ppl using cripple to take into consideration that ND conditions aren't somehow removed from the body. The brain is a material organ not some nebulous metaphysical entity.
I am clinically physically disabled, but even if I wasn't in the ways I am, would I not have the right to call myself a cripple when I dissociate and lose control of my body for hours or even days? That doesn't "count"? Why? Because it's isolated to the brain in origin? Even though it clearly has a material affect on the physiological body? Even though it unequivocally devastates the way I am able to interact with the world? I never heard anyone say neurological disorders "don't count bc it's from your brain". That's bc they have physiological impact, right? Why is it different when it's mental?
What about the fact that even things as common as anxiety and depression DO have long term physical effects on cardiac health among droves of other things? The long term effects of anxiety that can cause hypertension independent of any other condition? Why are y'all so obsessed w this strawman idea of "the able-bodied ppl with anxiety want to steal our slurs!!!!" Why do you presume to know the qualia of their life and MindBody experience better than they do? How do you KNOW they're "able bodied"?
Why do you presume anxiety and depression (or any mental disability) has no physiological toll?
What about people with mental disabilities that prevent them from speaking not due to any neurological or physiological reason? Where is the line between the body and mind in their dysfunction? Can anyone at all clarify or quantify this??? No. You can't. Their MENTAL disability prevents them from a PHYSICAL action, independent of a clinical physiological disability, yet they are STILL physically experiencing disability.
What about eating disorders that are inherently tied to both body and mind that WILL end in fatality if untreated?
You're building strawmen again, y'all.
Other disabled people aren't your enemy and mad pride has its place, you're right about that- but mad pride does not cover everything that a mental disability causes PHYSICALLY for every subject. Mad pride works to convey a pride in your lack of "sanity", but it conveys nothing related to how that affects the body. For those whose mental disability is intrinsic to their physical health it is not even remotely fair to gatekeep this word. To tell them their health symptoms aren't "enough". This is no better than the debate that tried to claim that chronic health and autoimmune disability should be 100% separate from other disabled people in the movement. This is no better than the people who tell me I can't claim cripple because I'm not a 24/7 wheelchair user. This is useless semantics.
Compartmentalizing the movement into multiple neatly categorized folders, further pathologizing and dividing ourselves, weaponizing trauma against one another, and acting out lateral violence does nothing. We work better as a god damn unit.
To ignore that mental disability can and usually does cause physically disabling effects without the presence of a "physical disability" is sanism and ableism. It's yet another way to gaslight ND ppl into a corner and frame them as attention seeking hypochondriacs. Congrats for joining the war on ableism on the side of ableism.
It's disappointing to see some people who's takes on transandrophobia I respect completely slipping.
How can you recognize in the context of another form of oppression that policing the use of language in theory like this is useless distracting semantics- but then turn around and pull the same shit w disability activism?
I am psychotic. I am a dissociative system. I am autistic. I have hEDS, NCAH, dysautonomia, and more. I belong to both of these communities and I don't want to see us tear each other apart for fuck's sake.
Learn to address when you're being reactionary!!!! I get where y'all came from with this but it doesn't mean it's right just because I understand it and almost fell into your logic myself at first. Y'all need to do what I did, identify your reactionary impulses, and SQUASH THEM.
We thrive together. If we tear one another part, the ableist and sanist system will simply laugh at us for self sabotaging, because we'll have served their goal.
Mindlessly jumping on the next wave of "YOU ARENT [BLANK] ENOUGH" discourse is almost always the wrong fucking move.
I want you all to take into consideration how truly debilitated and incapable of functions (INCLUDING PHYSICAL AND PHYSIOLOGICAL) some ND ppl are, even without a clinical "physical disability".
Because of my mental disability I'm less able to seek help for my physical disability because my being insane means I'm a "hypochondriac" that's not worth testing or taking seriously.
You are all very eager to forget that a lot of people who are mentally disabled are less likely to be given proper clinical care for physical symptoms, are more likely to be dismissed, and are more likely to go undiagnosed in many areas of health. You're not even considering that a large portion of these people also very likely HAVE clinical disabilities that they're not aware of yet and are actively experiencing symptoms of, and that them being brought into the cripple community with welcome arms could help THOUSANDS find answers and seek better care that they're being denied bc of sanism and ableism. You're too focused on feeling threatened and undermined to realize you're throwing your own under the bus materially.
Mental disability IS physical disability because the brain is a physical part of you. The mind isn't somehow alienated from the physical body. You can be physically disabled without a clinical physiological disability. If your mental disability impacts your physical capabilities, you are physically disabled even in the absence of a clinical physiological disability. You can claim cripple if you are physically impacted by disability of any kind. Period.
- sincerely a pissed off insane cripplepunk 🙃
Bad faith gets blocked.

yudkowsky seems to think chickens are less likely to have qualia than GPT-3, which seems silly to me, but whatever, i have a different related question: if some people made a chicken robot, whose behavior was indistinguishable from a chicken's, even by like... a chicken ethologist or whatever, how much less likely (if at all) would you expect that to be capable of internal-experience than a chicken? I think it's plausible that chickens have internal-experience, but would find it extremely unlikely that such a chicken robot had internal-experience.
i think this gets at why i *also* think its extremely unlikely that GPT-3 has internal experience. while language is, in some sense, human's "highest function", most requiring of reason and a world-model, GPT-3 specifically sidesteps those things! its just mass correlation. in humans, the capacity for language is a side effect of reason and a world model (i mean, and having a language center, etc), while in GPT-3 having a world model or reason would be a side effect using language. the same applies for chickens and chicken robots. chickens are are selected to do survive as a chicken. find food and reproduce. maybe haivng qualia is a result of that when evolution tries it! it happened to us. but a chicken robot is designed by a corner-cutting human to act like a chicken! i think a human could figure out how to make a chicken-actor with WAY less computing power than can support qualia
so theres like...i think theres a reasonable position here! i think its defensible, through explicit reasoning, and not JUST vibes (altho its a lot of vibes)

Tree Quest Chargen 3

As if to try and force your soul into the right shape for Magic, you threw yourself into the study of theory. You learned the Patterns, the resonant materials, the schools and philosophies. You couldn't follow it all - often it referenceed qualia of which you could have no experience; the feeling of channeling Magic, the noumena of shaping spells, the senses that detect Magic. Nothing worked directly, but it was interesting, at least, and you stumbled on some things to try once inhabiting your physical body - theories on how to feel and shape Magic through ritual and meditation, foundational to many esoteric martial arts. You also stumbled on theories that tied Magic to a pantheon of gods.
Your people have no gods. They recognise that there may be some truth to the gods of others; Vasnok, the Origin of Vampires, is a fact of reality. The Trollmother might exist. The Great Houses offer compelling evidence for the Dragons. The twelve Dragons, each matched to a Pattern of Magic. In all your studies you feel almost as if you are finding the first steps on a path that leads to a great secret of the world.
As you approach your Bloom, some elders who notice your studies come to speak with you. Conchubair, a noted soulsurgeon, is among them. They make an offer; they will try to quicken Magic in you, but there could be... side effects. Do you accept?
Yes
No
And at this time, you start to feel the wind and sun on your physical body. You see flashes of the material world. Soon you will leave the Dream of the Forest. What form will you take?
Crantiré are dimorphic, but this does little to define their gender (most are agender), and thanks to their biomagical skill you can add to or change this decision later - though doing so may become a sidequest
Spriggan; robust, agile, the stamen.
Dryad; graceful, charming, the pistil

Can we talk about Barty Crouch Jnr?
Tumblr media
This tweaked bastard has been living in my head, rent free, since I read the Goblet of Fire - in 2005.
Think how much rent that is!
You see, this malevolent set of cheekbones is not only a brilliant portrayal of a true psychopath, but he’s also somewhat responsible for Voldemort’s death. And it all comes down to one, beautiful, sweet, doe-eyed glow-up baby -
Tumblr media
Let me lay out fifteen years of thoughts here for you.
1. Is he a psychopath?
Well first let’s define psychopath. I’ve spent much time toiling over this conundrum for my Masters (not as long as Barty Crouch Jnr but enough). Hollywood has made the image of a psychopath synonymous with Hannibal or Patrick Bateman, but let me assure you - that is a very, very small percentage of what would actually be considered a psychopath. According to the DSM - V, there is no such thing diagnostically as a “psychopath”. This is for two reasons: law and philosophy. Philosophically speaking, the MindBody Problem is still at the forefront of conversations about the conscious, and so when faced with the paradox of a psychopath, the MindBody problem freaks the fuck out. Briefly, this problem is that we as neuroscientists and psychologists can map most - if not all - the ‘hardware’ of the brain. So the mechanical actions like moving your arm or drinking some tea. The hard problem - the actual problem - is we haven’t got a fucking clue what the Mind is. It’s all a bit... ineffable (that is legitimately how we academically put it, Neil Gaiman = God). Religion says that the Mind is the soul. Science says - we haven’t got a fucking clue what it is; it’s qualia, its unquantifiable experience that effects your entire worldview and make you wholey unique from everyone else on the planet.
And we can’t fucking find it on a map - hence its a problem.
Now this ineffable, unquantifiable mind, soul, conscious whatever you want to call it, is the thing that directs your moral compass. Psychopaths seem to present behaviour that does not prescribe to the moral code that we, in our relative societies have agreed upon. There is evidence to suggest that they do not feel guilt, which is a key ingredient in Moral psychology (I direct you to the research of Jonathon Haidt). Within the law, internationally, individuals with psychopathic traits are perceived as being predicated to criminal behaviour - therefore, exempt from taking any insanity defence. Now within psychology, because of the law and philosophy, and the mindbody problem - IT’S VERY FUCKING HARD TO DIAGNOSE A PSYCHOPATH BECAUSE WE CAN’T DECIDE WHAT ONE IS, because of all of the above. It’s all very... grey.
But what we can agree on, is there is a list of qualities that you would usually find in a psychopath, these are measured on the PCL-R  (Hare 2003) and the PPI-R (Lilienfield and Widows 2005):
Machiavellian Egocentricity
Rebellious Nonconformity
Blame Externalisation
Carefree Nonplanfulness
Social Influence
Fearlessness
Stress Immunity
Coldheartedness
Early behavioural problems
Lack of realistic long term goals
Juvenile Delinquency
Parasitic Lifestyle
As you can see, Voldemort was a psychopath, but I digress. Barty, not so sure, and this is earmarked with the fact that we don’t know the entirety of his character. By the time he’s outed the first time, he has a seat on the Wizengamot and Crouch Snr is all shocked - like he never saw this behaviour coming. It can be inferred that a) Crouch Jnr is a excellent liar, capable of manipulation those closest to him with machiavellian behaviour; b) probably quite a well behaved young boy. So I would disregard the idea of juvenile delinquency and early behavioural problems.
Tumblr media
And this scene stands as evidence that Crouch Jnr is capable of Rebellious Nonconformity as well as Blame Externalisation. We know that he was a politician prior and well liked, so I will again infer that he had Social Influence. I will also infer that he had a predilection for Stress Immunity given he was outed infront of the entire court room and his reaction was this:
Tumblr media
Not screaming and running for the high hills. I’ll raise you the fact that he was undercover as Moody for an entire year, rubbing shoulders with Dumbledore, and seemed pretty chill about the whole thing given that he was acting in, what I can imagine to be, was a very stressful situation.
So as you can see, a fair argument could be made for Crouch Jnr to be diagnosed as a genuine psychopath.
And yet we come to the reason why this has bothered me for fifteen years.
2. The Character Development of Neville Longbottom
It’s a well loved narrative that Neville goes from the bumbling bucktooth first year, to the Gryffindor God slaying Nagini in the Battle of Hogwarts.
Tumblr media
...deceased.
Anyway, years 1,2,3 Neville is still treated as the weakling: he’s forgetting books, he’s leaving Common Room passwords lying around so that they’re stolen by nefarious Kneezles who let in escaped convicts etc etc. Come forth year, we open with Neville stepping in the trick-step that everyone knows to miss and yet bumbling Neville, still doping along. At this point, you’re like, ‘na this kid is gonna die because he trips over his own shoelaces or something.’
And then that fateful Unforgiveable Curses lesson happens.
For those who need reminding, here Neville offers up the Cruciatus curse to which Professor Moody - aka Barty Crouch Jnr, tortures a spider using it as a demonstration. Neville is stricken by the whole event because of his parents. After the lesson, Hermione hurries Ron and Harry (who haven’t really realised that Neville was that effected) to find Neville who staring at a wall in a side corridor or stairwell - I can’t remember which. Neville’s shellshocked, saying he’s fine but keeps talking about dinner. He’s in full trauma.
Then Moody Crouch comes along.
3. The paradox
Moody Crouch then takes a traumatised Neville to his office, gently reassuring him, offering him tea and calling him ‘laddy’. Here, he tells Neville that Professor Sprout was singing his praises in Herbology and gifts him the book on African plants, I think it was. This book is what Harry and Ron see him avidly reading later. This is the start of his love of herbology, which then leads to him being the one to get Harry through the second challenge, which then allows Harry to go on and touch the portkey Triwizard cup. Whilst also setting Neville on the path of having confidence in himself. By book 5, Neville’s braver, he’s no longer forgetting things, and this only improves by the time we get to the Battle of Hogwarts where he becomes a literal Hero from a Greek Myth.
So, Psychopathic Machiavellian behaviour would say, he needs to get Harry on side. You do that by showing that you care. So you go over-board punishing the known bullies and enemies:
Tumblr media
Whilst being nice to Harry’s friends (Neville with the book). He could have deliberately orchestrated the Unforgiveable curses lesson, in the attempt to traumatise Neville so that he could then be the Hero and be seen looking after him by Harry. Then you use the friend as a means to ensure that Harry is able to get through the second challenge, by setting him on the path of plants. Ergo, you complete you mission and your year long con. You got Potter to the graveyard, to the Dark Lord - you’re the best little psychopath and nobody suspected you the entire time.
Tumblr media
BUT. He was nice. He was caring. He was tender with Neville.
And if you remember, psychopaths also have a tendency to have a Lack of realistic long term goals, and have behaviours that display Carefree Nonplanfulness and Coldheartedness. Getting Harry to the cup had to be a sure-fire thing. The plan had to be solid. It is my belief that Moody Crouch had a plan in place for every trial, but I do not believe he was the puppeteer pulling the strings. The aforementioned plan has too many if’s and but’s. Too much causality. Too much left up to circumstance. I think if Neville hadn’t done something, then Moody Crouch would have, but it was never the intention for Neville to be his tool - just a happy accident.
While he can be ascribed to portray some true psychopathic behaviours, I don’t believe that Barty Crouch Jnr was a psychopath. I think he was just rebelling in a really hard way from his Stiff, Loveless Father. Because this moment of caring, was a product of guilt. This was where Moody Crouch’s moral compass kicked in and he began to mentor Neville throughout fourth year (like a father) thus inadvertently setting Neville on a path to defeat Voldy-bollocks.
Thus the paradox: the best teacher Neville Longbottom ever had was a Death Eater.
And that just fucks me up.

Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Hi! I hope your recovery goes well! Also, you said you were bored, so here’s a question: it seems like the powers of a rogue of light and a rogue of void have some level of overlap to them, no? A rogue of light could make something voidy by stealing its light (relevance, importance, certainty, and could effectively reduce a pre-existing thing to a perfectly generic object, yeah? But then they could also make something more lighty just sort of by giving light to it. Could they theoretically also do the “make something real” thing? Maybe not to the same scale of something out of nothing, but could they, say, redistribute all of the notable qualia from a nonexistent Matriorb to any random object, such that for all intents and purposes that object is now a matriorb? Like, it feels like there’s a lot of overlap there and it just feels slightly odd. Fundamentally, I’m not sure how much of a difference there is between the two. What do you think?
Hey there! Sorry it took so long for me to get to your question! This is a really excellent idea, and I'd love to expand on this. A Rogue of Light can be interpreted as "one who steals fortune, relevance, and information," which can go a lot of different ways. For this case, though, I'm going to get a bit scientific. See, information can be understood in many ways, but the understanding I'll be using for this is that information can manifest as observed, qualitative properties of an object. "The object is green," and "the object is in the shape of a cube with rounded edges" are examples of such qualitative properties. Therefore, a Rogue of Light with sufficient development and control over their powers might just be able to "steal" such properties from one object and ascribe them to another. The properties of the transformed object would then be passed on to the nonexistent object, which has some curious possible side-effects. Light, as with the other Aspects in the top half of the Aspect Wheel, deals mostly in the realm of ideas and abstract concepts. As such, it's difficult to know whether you're stealing such properties from a specific object that doesn't currently exist, or the concept of that object. If your Rogue isn't careful to distinguish between the two, they very well might end up establishing new properties for the conceptual object instead, and any time that object subsequently comes into existence, it would carry the properties of the object it was essentially "swapped" with! For better or worse, this ability would be very powerful, and highly likely to be exclusive to God Tiers.

OK so what’s up with this: the tarot suits that obviously have the most pertinence to me in terms of direct symbolism, in terms of who I am and what I do, are Wands and Cups: fire and water: theory and poetry: the two sides of creativity however, the affects I seek out in the world, and like a probably unusual proportion of my qualia, seem to reflect the other two disproportionately: earth and water: groundedness and lightness almost all my creative inspiration and... concretely experienced meaning? comes down to one of the two.  sometimes water but it’s  I feel like these aren’t just the generic types of given experience, because I experience a lot of intense “fire” and “water”-associated qualia when on drugs, and they’re really goddamn weird, and not all that pleasant to me, although I know a lot of people who like those drug effects so they clearly are to some people.  tbf a lot of people describe something like shrooms as “earthy”, whereas to me shrooms are pure fire; I’m not sure if this is a difference in the association with the drug or a difference in background affect; I can see how shrooms might very well be “earthy” to someone not as saturated in background “Earth” affects and obsessive about evoking them from everyday consciousness

Qualia Review: Split Stack by Neurohacker
black label neurohacker
If I had in summary Qualia, I’d need to say it’s an excellent accompaniment to a nootropic stack in addition to an useful substance alone. That’s great, you could be saying - but what’s Qualia? Why should I care?
Tumblr media
What is Qualia?
Many nootropic lovers have confirmed that Qualia is responsible for boosting creative energy, sharpening concentration, giving a thirst for gym activities, lowering anxieties, enhancing motivation and many other Superman-like abilities.Judging by the list of ingredients, that’s not so surprising. Qualia contains adaptogenic herbsThe mix of all these ingredients almost assuredly affirms that Qualia will be a great substance for enhancing health. Effects and Mechanism of Actionhere are several reasons why Qualia is considered by some to be the most useful nootropic that’s currently on the marketQualia single handedly energizes your brain and your body at the same time, allowing you to be as creative as Hemingway with as much athletic power as WestbrookTaking Qualia enhances your cognitive abilities by supplying the brain with ‘smart’ neurochemicalsThe metabolism is increased because of it which results in less fat and more lean muscle tissuesIt takes treatment of your blood circulation pressure and overall cardiovascular health. One thing that’s unique with Qualia is usually that you don’t have to take a handful of pills every 3 hours to make it happen. It is a short, effective route to all these amazing enhancements and the effects linger for actually quite some time. Another bonus to keep in mind may be the reliability of Qualia. You’re not only paying for a fancy packaging or a brand or anything similar. You’re buying the assurance that you’re taking a nootropic made out of top-tier ingredients. The ongoing company is renowned for using quality ingredients and sourcing them from good producers.Quali includes a few nicknames currently: the super tablet, the focus tablet, and the limitless tablet are normal. Price Servings and ComparisonQualia is most beneficial purchased from the website off its s, Neurohacker. You won’t think it is cheaper or more immediate else anywhere, though it is on Amazon which is useful for people who prefer their quick shipping.

The price of Qualia per serving is just about $6, and the month to month subscription is $129, or $149 for an one-time purchase. This is pretty expensive, but considering the vast list of ingredients, you’re not getting ripped off. You could probably resource them individually for cheaper, but the money you save would be replaced by time spent locating all the individual ingredients. When you break up the full price to obtain the price for one serving, that amounts to When you say $129 a month, that sounds like a deposit for an excellent computer or various other little bit of technology really, but when you see a daily price of $6. 77, it’s not that much.
What are a few of the long-term advantages of taking Qualia?
If you consistently take Qualia, you’ll get a better memory and improved verbal abilities. When you take part in discussions, you’ll have the ability to follow challenging issues without shedding your train of believed or stumbling over your response. It regulates the human brain chemistry and framework by providing the required neurotransmitters - mostly choline - and encouraging the human brain to make use of them. In addition, it helps repair any prior damages done to the human brain by either chemical substances, inflammation or any toxins and bacteria. This nootropic is great for helping to slow the onset of degenerative mental problems like Alzheimer’s by protecting the brain. Absent Qualia and the Mind Body Problem
qualia mind or qualia original
James Schmachtenberger - Another founder of the team, James has helped bring medical marijuana into California and has fought organizations that limited the spread of the useful plant.
Tumblr media
Daniel Schmachtenberger - Seeing that the known person in major think-tanks, Daniel provides spent ample period disrupting sectors and paving the true method for radical change. All three of the leaders, coupled with doctors and scientists from Stanford University and others, are impressive but forward thinking. Their interests with Neurohacker Collective transcend simple cognitive hope and enhancement to radically alter humankind. This is evidenced in their method o funding clearly.
Qualia Now Crowdfunded
Most companies, in the supplement space especially, are not transparent at all aside from with their finances. The Qualia nootropic is among the first to be crowdfunded at a later stage. Rather than simply launching a Kickstarter campaign, it’s possible to own equity in the Neurohacker Collective as a member of the public. In a recent WeFunder campaign, the Neurohacker Collective opened up their books to provide consumers the opportunity to own the company they support. This is a revolutionary method of business within the nootropics sector and is assuredly an indicator of the group and their forwards looking desires. This is actually the final component suggesting that the Qualia nootropic, and the Neurohacker Collective, is certainly a lot more than another nootropic just. Only period will tell if they are revolutionary truly, nevertheless they appear off to an excellent start.
My Subjective Encounter Using Qualia Nootropic
In order to effectively test this nootropic stack, I did almost specifically what the instructions said - take one capsule of Qualia from the THE FIRST STEP bottle, and two capsules from the SECOND STEP bottle during the period of one month.ow, I’m the kind of person who’s not really going to have the ability to sleep all evening if I had one glass of coffee each morning. This sensitivity translates over to my usage of nootropics and drugs, as well. With that said, I tried going for a smaller dosage for starters.I felt kind of lightheaded and at the same time there was this weird pressure in my head and my throat. The feeling was kind of irritating but very light. Nothing mind-boggling.I was hyped and wanted to multitask everything - read 3 books at the same time, soak up the information for my new article from the web, and rearrange my furniture in the same ten minutes. I felt the desire for both physical and mental activities. Usually, I’m kind of a perfectionist and a control freak. But after taking Qualia, I must say I had a calm and a controlled reaction to stuff that usually annoys me. No anxiety no frustration.
Tumblr media
psychology definition
Also, I’m currently in times where I must juggle around my own passion work and project, and both of these main obligations make 80% of my time. With that said, I felt a notable difference after using it for a couple days - I instantly wasn’t anxious and nervous when I tried to complete job-related duties quickly and didn’t get worried ever again about getting late to a gathering later onI’m anxious about high-profile projects at the job always, deadlines, client’s feedbacks, etc . But I must say I felt at ease for the first time ever, and all it took was well-sustained and soothing energy. My final thoughts and opinions about Qualia is 99% positive because physically I felt more energized and mentally more relaxed than ever on stressful occasions. That might just mean that I “clicked” with this nootropic and that I got everything I needed from it. That would be my analysis on short-term effects.
qualia
Just in case you need to have a refresher, the Mind Lab Pro product has eleven different ingredients that are known to target specific human brain functions. It is stated to boost energy, memory, disposition, and focus. Some social most people associate this supplement with older professionals who are coping with memory issues, nevertheless, you that it can benefit anyone. Qualia is known because of its kick. It includes 42 substances that are created to help with focus, focus, storage, and learning. Other substances, like antioxidants, are designed to help combat aging. You might have heard health enthusiasts discussing this ingredient. It is particular because antioxidants defend you from free of charge radicals. These dangerous molecules travel through the physical body and harm healthy cells You probably know a few of the ingredients in these supplements, so I is not going to bore you with a list of all of them. We will just zoom in on a few.
