I blame Symphogear's setting for bringing up the "legendary relics" thing because it's been a while since I've had a plot itch on how to make an "Emiya Shirou is reincarnated into the Symphogear setting" fic

and as it should be expected, Shirou's gonna be reincarnated into a girl 💀

the question now is if I pick Heaven's Failure Shirou, Oath Under Snow Shirou, or a Shirou from F/SN as the basis for characterization but the details will work itself out later...

the vague idea would be something like femShirou acting as a vigilante and using projected Symphogears to fight Noise outbreaks outside of the main Symphogear plot culminating to something like using Kanshou and Bakuya as her "true" Symphogear (or even finding the actual ones in-setting)

honestly, it'd probably be more of a fun exercise in song writing to puzzle out the character arc of this AU Shirou than anything else, a lot of the power level stuff can be put on the wayside since it's never that important

ryu sunjae from lovely runner - they are both absolute losers for their respective lovers. i can picture rafayel in that one scene where sunjae was blowing kisses towards sol's house. no matter how hard his beloved tries to cut him out from their life to save him, he will always find his way back into their life.

jeong guwon from my demon - similar to sunjae, guwon is also another loser for his wife. (tbh i can imagine rafayel as a down bad simp for his lover; cue thomas sighing and shaking his head.) i can picture rafayel in the scene whereby guwon and dohee were doing that tango while fighting off their enemies too?!?!

lee yeon from tale of the nine-tailed - continuing the loser boy train, we have yeon as the final dude to add in this group. (specifically yeon from s2, bc the way he wanted to go back to his timeline so badly to see jiah matches rafayel's "the only person i'll ever love is my lover" energy.) their backstories also match in the sense that yeon never stopped searching for jiah and rafayel never stopped waiting for his bride.

myulmang from doom at your service - not me choosing myulmang bc they both made contracts to their beloveds [clown emoji]. but nonetheless they're similar in the sense that they won't think twice about eliminating someone who hurts their lover.

shin wooyeo from my roommate is a gumiho - again, another contract situation. wooyeo is a "classier" version of sylus imo, and one who uses less pet names. if sylus were the ml in this kdrama, he would defo keep an even more watchful eye on his beloved so that she doesn't go about losing his fox bead. (aur naur iw to write a gumiho au for sylus now...)

lee youngjoon from what's wrong with secretary kim? - similar to youngjoon, sylus will never let his lover leave. they want to leave his mansion? he will try 101 (legal) ways to make them stay. they will find snacks they like in their room more often. they will find new (and expensive) clothes in their wardrobe. heck, even an all-expenses-paid vacation! he wants to keep them close to him; he's afraid of them upping him to leave.

goo yeonjun from a time called you - like yeonjun, xavier has literally went back in time to save his beloved. he wants to see then safe and sound, and as long as they're happy, he's happy. as long as they're alive and breathing, he's fine with not being by their side. just watching them live their life is enough for him.

haru from extraordinary you - totally not projecting my all-time fav kdrama on him (or am i?) but xavier and haru have similar mannerisms and personality traits. yk how in the first few episodes danoh was dragging haru around and this guy just remained silent and followed along until one day he just started speaking? yeah that's the same with this guy. the person he likes could yap all day and he would willingly sit and listen.

moon seoha from see you in my 19th life - similar to seoha, xavier loves once in his life and he will only ever love his little star. he would never get over their death and if he's the one responsible for their death, he would be all the more upset with himself. he would throw himself into work all day and refuse to love again, thinking he shouldn't be able to fall in love ever again since he took his beloved's one chance of staying alive and happy away.

moon suho from black knight - they're both so overprotective of the one they love. the way suho essentially told sharon that haera is the only woman he would ever love is something i can picture zayne doing. if someone is out there trying to harm his beloved, you'd best believe zayne would do his best to prevent that from happening, even if it means giving up his own life.

lee suhyeok from bora! deborah - when zayne loves, he loves hard. like suhyeok, he's clumsy at expressing his affections, choosing to keep everything to himself and wait until he's 100% certain it's the right time to say whatever he wants to say. and sometimes, that can lead to disastrous endings (see also: suhyeok getting dumped on the same day he went to buy an engagement ring for his girlfriend). both men are careful to a fault, all the more so with their beloved because they're scared of losing someone precious to them again.

yoo jihyuk from marry my husband - zayne, like jihyuk, would willingly stand aside and watch the one he loves fall in love with someone else. he would be supportive and wouldn't try to fight for their affection. his motto is "if they're happy, i'm happy" and he can live being an unmarried old man as long as he sees them happy.

i’m so not trying to be mean but i can’t believe anyone actually thought haymitch wouldn’t be cast as a young woody harrelson. there is absolutely no way a young haymitch was ever gonna be anything but white. i know i joked about it, but it was a joke.

yes, haymitch, katniss and gale are poc in the books. canonically. but that went out the window in the movie universe in 2011 when they casted all white people. there was never a chance they would sway from that now. no one affiliated with the movies will even admit katniss wasn’t white. suzanne collins herself won’t admit it. and majority of people on the internet, outside of this site and small pockets of the fandom on other apps, all believe katniss/haymitch/gale/etc. were always meant to be white.

i don’t agree with it but until they reboot the entire series, these characters will always be white. and since the films practically walk on water in the mainstream media’s eyes, we’re sort of stuck with what we got.

I'm writing a hazbin oneshot and I'm having issues with dialogue. Any wisdom on how to handle the balance between Alastor being an arsehole and wanting to write him having a couple of moments of geniune sincerity.

Well, those two things don't have to be mutually exclusive!

If you're trying to get your character to do something, you have two variables to work with: "what would it take to get this character to do this" and "how would the character go about it."

As far as "how would Alastor go about sincerity" is concerned: If he's interacting with someone that he's inclined to be sincere with, for whatever reason, there's a solid chance he's going to be a dick about his sincerity, and also sincere about his dickishness.

The canon scene where he makes a deal with Charlie was in many ways him not even trying a little to hide how manipulative he's being, but I think a key moment of it is that he does give her sincere advice about how to present herself and emotionally handle the situation ("A smile is a valuable tool, my dear!" - ironically cautioning against sincerity). And, again: he completely owns the fact that he thinks the situation and Charlie's misery are absolutely hysterical, and that he has something over her. He outright crows "I know something you don't know!"

Despite his scheming, Alastor is often pretty open about the kind of person that he is, which is not a very nice one, when it is in line with his preferred self-image. Sincerity is not synonymous with softness, and I don't think softness is the kind of vulnerability that would come naturally to him in most circumstances. Let him be an asshole even as he's being sincere - either deliberately or accidentally. Or let him be defensive, or unsure, or nervous. There are a lot of ways to present sincerity that make a lot of sense for him depending on the situation.

As for "what would it take for Alastor to be sincere," especially if you do want it to be a soft sort of sincerity... that is up to you and the machinations of your story! I spent several dozen thousand words in 666 exploring that one, haha.

he rarely has anyone texting him

however when someone does actually text him, he is terrible at replying quickly

he texts like a no-nonsense, business-only boss (i would say his texting style is similar to mystic messenger's jumin and tears of themis' artem wing (main story only)). formal capitalisation and all, too.

he doesn't use autocorrect at all. he feels weirdly proud of his typing skills.

he definitely had the whole "how to type" module in high school. you know, the class that taught the kids born in the early 2000s how to type (thumbs on the space key and all...).

so since I've basically been lying in bed for 12 hours I've also been like. doing the weird sick nap daydream and this time it's velite and Argenti traveling to a world where one group of people leave an offering of a live baby each year (they select the sickliest, won't survive the winter-est orphans they can find ) to the wolf people of the forest so they don't come attack them

the people in the town think that the wolf people eat the babies, but what's really going on is the wolf people know to look for an abandoned baby and take them home and treat their illnesses, look after them, feed them etc. the wolf people think this practice of abandoning sick babies is abhorrent

the two of them (A+V) are appalled at this practice and decide to wait for the wolf people to approach the baby, and see if they can't reach a peaceful accord

... the wolf people aren't even wolves, they just dress in wolf pelts to keep warm in the cool misty forests. 😐 (although maybe wolf people would be cooler idk this is just what my brain cooked up)

anyway they tend to the little one and since the two groups of people speak separate languages and don't have synesthesia beacons, Argenti and velite help them forge an arrangement so no sacrifices need be made any longer and no one should fear an attack from the other

also they adopt the baby because i think it would be cute. they ask about a local name that means star for her. she's got cute little red curls on her head like Argenti

This fanfic assumes that reader is Yuu and that you and Leona are in an established relationship. Never wrote TWST characters before so I hope I didn't make them (Leona, Ruggie and Crewel) so OOC- It's a rather self-indulgent piece ngl so reader's mannerism or talking may be very specific?

Brrring!

"Alright, well done, my puppies! That will be all for today's class. Don't forget what you've learned today and also remember to complete your assignments! All of you are dismissed!" A hint of a smile flashed on Professor Crewel's lips as he dismissed everyone.

Standing up, you stretched and yawned before turning on your phone (the one that Headmage Crowley had graciously gifted you) to check for any messages. You were expecting some messages from your favourite lion beastman (sorry Cheka /j) but before you can read the unread messages while on the way out of your alchemy classroom-Ruggie was waving and gesturing you animatedly to walk over to him. Curious to see him waiting outside of your class, you flashed him a questioning look and make a beeline to him.

"Hey, prefect! Since you're probably on your way to see Leona anyways, shyehehe," He said with a knowing and teasing glint in his eyes. "Mind passing these assignments to him when you see him later? He missed an entire day of lessons again! And Professor Trein is threatening to fail him if he doesn't start attending classes again." He sighed with his ears sort of flattened as he continues to speak. "I gotta rush for my part-time job and since you're like Leona's favourite herbivore, please persuade him to go to class tomorrow and also complete his assignments! I believe in you, prefect~" He grinned widely and thrust the pile of assignments into your hands. Before you could even say a word, he disappeared into the crowd of students who were leaving their classrooms. You sighed at the task given to you before resuming to check your unread messages -

You couldn't help but smile and feel amused as you read Leona's text messages. Most people may think he's demanding to his partner after looking at his text messages. You know that's not the case. Though he does not show his affections outright to you in front of others, he shows his love and care in his own way- by being himself. His messages are actually indirectly telling you how much he wants to see you as soon as possible. And that he misses your presence. You pocketed your phone after sending a confirmation that you're coming and start making your way to the school's botanical garden to finally see your favourite lion.

Sure enough, there was your boyfriend was lying on his back in the shade of a tree, his usual favourite spot to peacefully rest away from other students. Though his eyes are closed and he appears to be snoozing, his (soft) ears are a dead giveaway. They're perked up and occasionally flicking, showing that he's long aware of your presence. Although he can't see your smile, you still smiled softly in his direction. Walking over and squatting down next to his resting self. You leaned down and kissed him gently on his forehead then said teasingly, "Good morning, your lionliness." Instantly feeling your kiss upon his forehead, his eyes fluttered open and yawned before giving you a charming smirk. "Took you long enough, herbivore." You then lowered yourself to sit next to him, crossing your legs and readying your legs to be his pillow. As expected, he took the opportunity to rest his head on your lap. You naturally began to comb through his hair with your fingers, feeling the soft strands between your fingertips and hands determined to detangle any knotted hair strands. His eyes were half-open, looking at you still heavy with sleep and he continues to lazily smirk at you. Momentarily, his gaze flicked towards the pile of papers but he ultimately settled on looking back at you and asked, "How's your classes?" As you shared what happened in your classes, he listened intently, occasionally making a sarcastic remark or two about the other first-years' antics. Your snorts and laughter at his comments made his tail swished. He enjoyed seeing you relaxed and laughing, and he was happy to be able to make you smile.

After sharing your day, you both fell into a comfortable silence. You continued to play with his hair, enjoying the feeling of the soft strands against your fingers. As you did so, you noticed that he was starting to doze off. Realising he is about to doze away, you decided to address your task. "Sooo, a little birdy told me that Professor Trein is not happy that you skipped for class today and also asked me to pass you your assignments for the day." You pointed to the stack of assignments. Hearing about that, he scoffed with his ears lowered slightly. "You mean a hyena, right?" One of his emerald eyes opened and stares at you rhetorically. You still nodded instinctively and he groaned in response before looking away and his tail starts to sway in annoyance.

"I know you've been working really hard with your Spelldrive practices and I've noticed that you've been attending your classes more often lately." You were not trying to appease him; it is the truth, Leona had been attending his classes more often, especially after you two had gotten together. Ruggie teased you both, saying that your goody shoes self have been a good influence on Leona and he was glad that Leona has a sweetheart around to "tame" him. This, of course, earned him an earful of (empty) threats from Leona like adding more to Ruggie's chores. Your hands continue to comb through his hair as you continue your words, "I'm actually proud of you. I know it hasn't been easy for you either." He puts in a lot of effort, but sometimes his thoughts get the best of him and he finds himself sleeping in his dorm or the botanical garden, where he can escape his thoughts.

As he heard your words, his tail's swaying slowed down and his ears perked up slightly as though in surprise, which you noticed and feel sad that not many have acknowledged his diligence. He remained silent, but he listened attentively to you, even though he was now facing away from you. You smiled gently and patted his ears, saying, "Like I said before and will always continue to remind you. I'm here for you just like you have been for me. I promise." His ears flicked and he felt his eyes watery before he takes a deep breath to calm himself down. "...Thanks for being here, herbivore. Fine. We'll see how it goes tomorrow." He mutters a response as he finally looks at you again. Your face lit up at his reply. "I don't know how much I can help with all these assignments, but I'll be there, cheering you on!" He responded with a rare soft and genuine look.

To lighten the mood, you quickly reached out with your right hand and hooked your pinky finger with his left. "I pinky promise to be there for you, no matter what! You're stuck with me for life and ever, Leona. Even if you're sick of me, it's too late to back away now." You said with a laugh, but your eyes have a determined and genuine look. He blinks at you owlishly, surprised at your bold promise. He glances at both of your hooked pinky fingers and then back at you. His lips unable to stop curling into his trademark charming smirk as he gruffly replied, "Oi, herbivore. You can't just pinky promise like this. It's supposed to be a two-way street, you know." He responded in a playful but serious tone, but did not make the effort at all to pull his pinky finger. He tightened his pinky finger in response to your assurance, but his heart was hammering in his chest. He tried to maintain his cool look, but he could tell that you could see right through him. Though he tried to be cynical and thinks that he's being naive, he couldn't help himself to be hopeful towards you and the future. In his heart, he silently made a promise to himself that he would be there for you just as you were there for him. He knew that he could count on you, and he wanted you to know that you could count on him too.

Ending notes: Thanks for reading my first twst fanfic/thought dump. This was supposed to be a lighthearted fic and I thought it would go something like this: reader was supposed to make a silly pinky promise like "you gotta promise to get me boba/something since I deal with sm Crowley's nonsense etc. /j" and Leona was gonna like gonna bicker (lightheartedly/affectionately) and pinky promised jokingly to "cancel out the promise" (mentally swearing that he will be there for the reader platonically or romantically ) with the reader, ending off on a sweet note. but as you can see- I do not plan my writing and just improvise as I go and it just becomes kinda heavy halfway through lolol.

I was inspired by a irl situation when I jokingly pinky promised my friend and said they owed me a lifetime supply of boba. They then caught me off guard and pinky promised back (to cancel out the promise ykwim).

For those who's been following me, I'm sorry I haven't been writing as much. University once again held me at a chokehold (and also I've been reading so much interactive fiction wips whenever I have free time-).
