The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has charged two leaders of HyperFund, an alleged cryptocurrency pyramid scheme, for raising over $1.7 billion from investors. Sam Lee and Brenda Chunga are accused of promoting HyperFund "membership" packages that guaranteed high returns through crypto asset mining and a partnership with a Fortune 500 company. Chunga, also known as Bitcoin Beautee, has settled with the SEC on charges of fraud and unregistered offering, while Lee is facing litigation.
