Oh someone gave me permission to yap. You shouldn't have. Really shouldn't have this became so long.

My og/main (canon to my heart) tav is called Bern (high elf, sorcerer).

She comes from a rich and very fucked up family (based slightly on my very little knowledge ot the Ushiromiya's from Umineko, mostly Rosa and Maria). As a young child she knew that this made her family important in some way. But she herself didn't really grow up w a lot of money or in luxory. Her mother and her family had some sort of falling out before Bern was born so she only met her relatives on family conferances every 5 years. Her mother and she lived in a fairly big house but without a staff it fell into dissrepear even while they lived there.

This happened bc the house was her mothers only item of worth, in other words she was flat broke. Her mother didn't really work only in short bursts when she wasn't to depressed to get out of bed this was for mulituple reasons not gonna get into it here.

Bern once "stole" some money from her mother to buy food but she spent it quiet badly for which she was berated and punished for. From this point onward she learned that money was something she shouldn't touch bc she will not spend it well especially on herself.

Bc of this she starved a lot and was a sickly looking kid. But the other villagers started noticing this and took care of her, gave her food, chlotes and other necessities when she needed them, they only did this bc she was the up comining head of the village, taking her mother's place in the future. What would they do without their pristes anyways? It wasn't this materialistic but her importance surely helped her survive. So yep it did take a village to raise her, she will make jokes about this btw. Also bc of this for a long time she didn't have a concept of money.

From when she was 10-13 she was given smaller responsiblitys in managing the village and from 14-16 she was acting head of the villages inner workings/"politics" (there are other familys in charge of security of the village and trades w outsiders, she mostly maneged the inner distrebutions of food/goods and spiritual matters being head priestess and all, she on her own was only fully in charge of spiritual matter w other matter she got at least a bit of help usually). So she became quiet good at managing money, goods and personal relations. She is good at this but hates it more than almost anything. She had to manage funeral before she had a concept of death, had "assistants" so she herself never needed to interact w dead bodys for their preparation at the very least. She also managed annual festivals and kept the villages shrine in good shape (other villagers helped her w this from time to time.) Bc of this later life experiance she has a lot of experiance w managing momey and personal/professional relationships as a whole.

All of this leads to the funny situation of Emps pieling up the treasury while Bern quietly funnels it out into the public education system and other public services, because its good investment. Or something, she says that at least and she is good at allocation of these funds sooo he has no ground to complain about it for the most part. (This is the knights of the shield ending basically but my headcanon ending for these fuck ups is completly different so idk about that one its way more chill/slice of life...I mean for a bit at least. Plus important info I made Bern some bs custem lore bc I could this kinda sort of means that she literally can't become mind flayer...(I mean she could but she'd kinda introduce the far realms to atomic pwered distruction, to put it that way)...ops well gonna use that for a lot of angst not gonna lie.

She wouldn't ever want to or would have a lavish lifestyle. "Expensive and "pretty" chlotes are just uncomfortable usually, why would I want expensive rugs its just a fucking RUG and painting ahh one question WHAT THE FUCK AM I SuPPoSeD to do w them? And if you get one more expensive wine I'm gonna find the highest place in this god dammed city and throw it from there! It the same as normal wine sometimes even worse but its only expensive bc its "special" or some shit gets you drunk same way as a fucking beer so watch me give a shit about what I get drunk on!" All sounds like something she would say to Emps when he bought something expensive and objectively usless.🤣 Trust her she knows a lot of expensive wines, she had a "system" for mandatory family gatherings. She is autistic as shit and grew up in poverty while having to pretend she wasn't doing so, gave her a necessities only mindset even about her own needs. Emps understands this still finds her complaining about his spendings annoying, why should she care what it spends its money on also she is mostly right about expensive stuff it buys but it would never admit that.

Thyneron and the Emperor have dramatically different outlooks on money and finances. I would not exactly call Balduran "self-made" since it's highly implied that much of his financial acquisitions were questionable at best, and outright theft, extortion, and exploitation at worst, but at the end of the day, he did still acquire his own money, no matter how illicitly.

On the other hand, Thyneron was born with a gem encrusted silver spoon in the mouth. Money means nothing to Thyneron in the way that money means nothing to all immensely wealthy people, in that it's been a permanent fixture in the background of his life. He has no more regard for money than he does for the lavishly expensive rugs under his feet. It is simply there, because it has always been there, and presumably always will be there.

At the same time, the Emperor is completely unconstrained by perceptions of wealth. I believe it has a certain taste for fine things, but it dresses and lives simply, and is more invested in the love of the game of acquisition. I think to the Emperor (and Balduran before that), amassing wealth was like a game, with only marginally higher stakes than dice or cards.

Meanwhile, Thyneron dresses in clothes he dislikes, associates with people he disdains even more, and is constantly buried in a mountain of self-hatred because he feels compelled to keep the rigid standards of the Upper City for the sake of his family and business. If he had it his way, he'd wear simple tunics and trousers and never go to a damned ball, feast, gala, or party ever again.

I always enjoy thinking of what money means to various people, especially two that embody separate sides of the same coin (ha) the way that these two do.

again and again i find myself lamenting that audio roleplay isn't taken more seriously by some people. like yeah, they often have a romantic element, and by nature they usually directly involve/address the listener- and i totally get that those things aren't to everyone's taste. no art or entertainment is universally appealing, and that's okay! but.. it still makes me a lil sad that the "cringe" reputation of asmr/audio rp precedes it. there's a whole lot of talent and creativity being poured into these audios by so many people that i feel goes unrecognized and/or disrespected simply due to the medium that the stories are being told through.

his love for music has been around since . forever . not his fault he keeps getting pulled towards music themed things

he's been playing piano and ukulele for most of his life.\

i like to believe that "people of note" within the goc get music-related names, hence dc al fine is, well, dc al fine. he's ukulele bc a) he was small, b) he already played one anyway, c) he could be brought just about anywhere. i feel like more can be done with this but i dont have the metaphors for that yet. im not suzanne collins sadly . i'll make it its own post eventually

he hasn't caught up to new music in recent years, or even the years before that. he's been too isolated in the foundation and even the goc prior to be too exposed to new music.

he strikes me as like an 80s guy but i have no idea what thats actually supposed to mean.

he still sometimes writes music, mostly for himself, and it's just scraps. he doesnt take any of it seriously. he doesn't even have a keyboard to use

loosely related but he calls destruction his art because it's all he has left. he can't even really keep music anymore because he's not enough a fool to think that he's not still contained

he can sing! he never does anymore but he can! ukulele loved to sing, and i imagine he sounded more like will wood just because i think he should be able to sing song with five names or laplace's angel

i just think he was a lot more lively as ukulele and it reflected through music :]

he somehow figured out how to write everything in alto clef just to bully people. like i like to think the cipher goes by key. because right, usually the middle c is like Below the staff (?) in a treble clef, but is in the middle of an alto clef. then, the next key, probably G major/e minor (I think) would be the next set of letters after A-G, so H-N, and so on so forth . he probably made a better system than this (i'll make this its own post probably)

he's very talented on the piano, but mostly plays by ear since he's no longer as quick with reading. but like, i imagine he's talented in a will-wood-improvising-and-cooking type of way and not a classical-pianist-playing-chopin-and-liszt-and-tchaikovsky-from-memory way. i'm talking blackboxwarrior live where the variations feel like less like mistakes and more like seasoning and having fun. nothing wrong w classical pianists il yall

he fell in love w ukuleles especially during his goc era because he could easily bring it everywhere he went. and he probably had a bag for it too but put literally everything else inside except the ukulele itself

An analysis of Jayvik during season 2 bc what the hell was that

Or rambling about their parallels, character development and what I think is going next.

First, I haven't seen the three last episodes but I saw the spoiler of Viktor and Jayce scene. I'm going to watch the episodes with my friend next Wednesday, so I don't want any of you spoiling me ANYTHING else.

Spoilers below the cut.

That being said, this analysis will be mostly about first eps of season 2 and the scene of arc 2, why does it have sense and why it doesn't mean the ending of their friendship and why in this season they aren't just narrative foils but the force that move each other motivations.

First, 2nd season opening:

It's good to point out that their scenes in the intro are related; in the same way Jinx and Ekko are related, Vi and Cait (and Jinx) and Mel with Ambessa. They all are easily differentiable among them, Mel and Ambessa appear in yellowish tones, Jinx, Cait, Vi and Ekko appear under color lights but the theme bounding Viktor and Jayce is bright light.

When Jayce appears, he's immediately blinded by the light, he turns his face and squints his eyes but does not remove from his place. In contrast, when Viktor appears he's not being blinded by the light, he's not uncomfortable about it, instead, he faces it directly. When the mask is being put in his face, he accepts it, and even it looks like he's emitting the light. If the mask were emitting it, the fabric on Viktor's head would be lighted too; instead, the light is exclusively under the fabric. Viktor is literally shining. He's the light.

And Jayce during his cuts tries to reach the light but finds himself blinded by it; anyway, this doesn't stop him from extending his hand and trying to reach it.

And, at the same time, it's Jayce's hand putting the mask on, we already know why Jayce creates the Herald. But most importantly, putting on the mask means hiding Viktor's face and with it, covering the light.

At the end of the intro, Jayce does touch the light and he no longer sees blinded by it.

Important to notice the intro already makes clear that their stories are tightly intertwined; which isn't surprising since in season 1 it is evident Viktor is a huge motivation and conflict in Jayce's actions.

However, why is it important to notice that the intro makes a correlation between Viktor and being enlightened; first, light has an association with knowledge and wisdom. Second, already knowing the strong associations Viktor has with religious figures this season it is good to point out that Jesus said: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” And as I pointed out before, Jayce is following the light.

When I saw the first act, I was pretty confused about the correlation between the intro and the episodes. Once Viktor is resurrected by Jayce, he isn't associated with light but darkness.

When he wakes up, there is light, but it's clearly different from the one in the intro. Viktor is surrounded by a strange light but his face isn't being illuminated.

Instead, he walks to the light where Jayce is.

It's in front of you, Jayce is at the side of the light while Viktor is at the side of the darkness. But why is he in the darkness when the into associates him with light? Because Viktor isn't the darkness, the Hexcore is. And in this scene what does represent it? The cocoon behind Viktor.

Another good thing to notice is the change in Viktor's eyes, he wears the (probably) same blanket he does in the trailer, but while the trailer emphasizes his yellow eyes. It's clear what's happening here, he's changed and isn't completely Viktor, when he wakes up his eyes are mostly yellow, but there's also this small white part? Blue? I can only describe it as the Hexcore color.

When he cures the little dude, you can even see how the Hexcore color expands on his pupils. He still has a yellow part in them, but they're slowly changing color. But I don't think Viktor is the one changing, I think is the Hexcore the one taking power over him.

But what happens just before he cures him?

THIS

Viktor is bathed in light while the rest of the place is dark.

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Common guys, it was obvious this would end as a cult.

But why is this current change on Viktor and light? Why??? Just two seconds ago he split with Jayce and he was all in the dark, right?

My theory is that while Hexcore takes control and more dominion over him, Viktor finds light because he's helping people and it's like "hey, maybe this isn't that bad," but we already know that ANYTHING related to Hexcore is meant to be a catastrophe. Viktor may excuses its use for helping people while Jayce excuses its use for saving Viktor.

However, compared to how Viktor is showed through the intro I wasn't still convinced his light was about that.

And I mean, the light shown in the trailer for both Viktor and Jayce is white, different from the purple/pink that appears when he cures someone, his eyes are still clearly different. This scene does not represent Viktor but the arcane speaking through him, the purple and pink tones represent the arcane; and most importantly, the pattern its magic has.

Still, everything with that Viktor being the light didn't convinced me.

BECAUSE THAT VIKTOR ISN'T THE LIGHT, THE ONE ABOVE IS.

It's pretty clear, (sorry bad image quality, I got it from an edit and I'M NOT TOUCHING LAST 3 EPISODES IN NETFLIX, I WON'T GET MORE SPOILERS IF I CAN AVOID IT). The Viktor that is bent with the Arcane isn't the lightened Viktor, the one above is. He has yellow eyes (just as in the intro), and he's emitting a soft and pretty divine light. Compared to this:

His eyes aren't as yellow, and his hair is long and has lost color as a result of the arcane. They're evidently different. And I think that at some extent the show wants you to know they are different characters. Yes, his eyes are slightly yellow but let's remember he isn't entirely Viktor, it's also the Arcane.

And when he sees Jayce about to kill him, I think he looks surprised.

However.

The terror in his eyes, those aren't Viktor eyes, those are the Arcane's. All the freaky colors and the distortion. You can see how when he opens his eyes, it's Viktor who looks at him. But when he's facing his death, it's the Arcane being terrified.

How much does Arcane understand of emotions? I don't know, dude. But it and Viktor being mixed in a body surely gives it the ability to express something.

You may be thinking I am a little crazy about the eyes. But this is Arcane and the eyes are just important, animators put a lot of effort into emotion and facial expression and this means something.

When he dies, his eyes are both yellow and Arcane's color. They are both dying, yes.

But wtf happened with Jayce.

Well, I'll be back to this moment.

Jayce drinking tea with Heimerdinger and Ekko. His cup of "Man of the Progress" is there, but he did not drink from it.

The cup "Man of Progress" means a lot for Jayce's storytelling, it has his face on it goddammit. But it is also the cup that symbolizes his preference for the council and popularity over Viktor (because Viktor has always been a constant piece of conflict and motivation to act for Jayce). Instead, his drinking from a simple cup, not printed, he's turning back to his roots, being a scientist and stopping seeking greatness.

It also means a lot considering what he said to Viktor: "My place was here in the lab, with you." He gives up politics to be again an inventor and scientist. This scenes are pretty interesting when you consider during season one Jayce's biggest conflict is to be constantly swiping sides because he cannot stick to his true nature and has the need to be approved by everyone, which is by he doesn't use the cup anymore is important. He's rejecting the title to stick to his true self.

I also have to say that I wonder how this decision will affect his relationship with Mel, since she's pretty much the symbol of his political career while Viktor is the symbol of his academic one. Pursuing politics instead of the investigation is shown through their scene having sex while Viktor is heavily sick. Just to clarify: I HAVE NO HATE AGAINST HER, she and Jayce both worry about each other. But their relationship is planted pretty much as a political matter or as a tool for JayVik development. Literally season 2 biggest conflict in Jayce is Viktor and his only conversation with Mel is about he being worried about Viktor.

And well, Mel is her most boring (she still beautiful and interesting af but it's the least interesting part about her) when she's with Jayce. Just by seeing the trailer you can know her biggest conflict is about her mother and the black rose. Her narrative arc is pretty far away from Jayce's and I wonder how they will manage it.

And the wildest scene of the entire season: the Ashes and Blood one.

His hand tries to reach the Hexcore just as his hand tries to reach the light on the trailer. Or even more obvious, a clear parallel to Viktor, who reached his hand in the same way to reach the Hexcore and in consequence, he was consumed by it. Is this foreshadowing that Jayce will be consumed by the Arcane in the same way Viktor was? I'm 100% it is.

In fact, the whole scene is a parallel with Viktor dying and Jayce/Mel scene in season 1. Back then Viktor saw something in the Arcane, a possibility; in this scene, Jayce is seeing something, but we aren't sure what.

No matter what he sees, because he is also being corrupted by the arcane.

Look at the pattern on his wrist. Yes, the crystal is now on his skin but look how it has been disfigured by the arcane. Besides Jayce being corrupted it also means the corruption of his dream. And in consequence, I think that means the lost of an important part of his character: Hope.

The crystal symbolized his dream, yes, but it also symbolized his hope to make the world a better place. In season 1 when he tries jumping off after he has lost the research of his life is meant to be the loss of hope; which Viktor gives back (literally and metaphorically).

Here, he still has the crystal, but it has been corrupted by the arcane, and in consequence: the part that made Jayce a character who truly wanted to make the world a better place is corrupted too.

Focus on the eyes, people. When he looks at Viktor his face is completely changed but his eyes remain the same, brilliantly yellow unlike Viktor's.

And before he prepares his shot, the crystal shines. My first guest is that 100% there's something bigger influencing him. Probably the Arcane.

His weapon is evidently being corrupted by the arcane too.

And he's evidently actively fighting against something, the Arcane probably, since his face acquires its patron. Before I said I considered it was the Arcane who was scared of Jayce, since Viktor's eyes were emptied of any yellow color. But why the Arcane would be surprised if he's also corrupting Jayce.

My best guess is that Jayce is actively fighting against the Arcane and its influence to join it. What do I think? Jayce saw something in the Arcane tempting enough to want to join it but; at the same time, he saw something terrifying enough to decide it was not worth the risk. What do I think? Jayce did want to kill the Arcane, even if it meant killing Viktor too; and what he was fighting it's the Arcane itself trying to stop him.

I said it before, I haven't seen the last 3 episodes so if I'm terribly wrong I'll come back to apologize for my stupidity. But I have seen people confused about Jayce's motivation here and I think I might have a point.

And guys just look how his face changes from range to absolutely mysery-

You cannot say this man happily killed Viktor, he's about to cry.

And then Viktor lets go of that little thing I don't know what is called, but it symbolizes their shared dream.

There's a lot of angst about Viktor letting go of his dream. But I'm here to propose a more interesting question, why was he still clinging to it? In season 1 he makes clear Hexcore must be destroyed and he literally leaves Jayce when he realizes what he has done to keep him alive.

So why his change of mentality? Easy; because as I said before, he can justify the use of Arcane as long as he feels it's helping people.

I think he understands Arcane more than before, he's integrated into it and sees beauty in it. However Jayce also understands the Arcane better than him, but I think instead of finding beauty in it Jayce knows the horrific parts.

Look that the little thing I do not know what is called has a side completely corrupted while the other is briefly corrupted, my bet is that the corrupted side represents Viktor and the slightly corrupted represents Jayce.

So, why letting go of the dream is the right thing to do for Viktor's part and you shouldn't be sad about it? Because it has transformed into something unrecognizable, just as Viktor and Jayce. Letting go of the dream doesn't mean letting go of each other, since the series is clear they are part of each other. Letting go of the dream is letting go of the Arcane so they can keep themselves.

Why are they part of each other?

Easy, Viktor keeps the blanket Jayce gave him (even when he isn't able to feel coldness or warmth).

(BTW, in this scene Viktor stays in the light, and now is Jayce the one in darkness, I'm just saying).

And Jayce's whole outfit is about Viktor.

His hammer is butterfly-shaped (so interesting both Jayce and Viktor have a scene as kids with the same butterfly and then the Arcane acquired a butterfly shape for a brief moment...); just look at his left leg, his hammer also resembles Viktor's crane and I might be crazy but I see some V's over there.

And also, even if I am crazy and I'm seeing stuff here it's always good to remember THIS:

I'm sorry but what was the need to parallel it so much? Idk why they do it but besides paralleling they also have to make characters close to Jayce to share moles in the same places as Viktor, Ambessa's twink resembles him a lot and has a mole on the cheekbone too, Mel it's harder to see because she has multiple but just as Viktor she has the one on the cheekbone and over the mouth. And, if I remember correctly, Jayce's mom has a mole on the cheekbone too. Every time I think I'm a little crazy about them I remember that and I'm like "nah, I'm totally right about everything." If they parallel this again in season 2 I'm not going to be surprised.

What do I expect from Arc 3? Viktor and Jayce's fight, against the Arcane. I think narratively it would be the ultimate conflict they have to face. They both were irresponsible with stuff they couldn't completely understand and it would be a nice conclusion to their arcs. Jayce has already decided to abandon politics which is a nice development, but he still hasn't faced the consequences of playing with the Arcane and Viktor either. If there's a fight against each other I'd understand where it comes from but their story would feel unconcluded, none of them have faced the consequences of playing with the arcane, not really. They have both faced shitty things but no consequences for fooling with magic and I think the most satisfying conclusion for their story would be to face to face and stop their creation together.

Maybe I'll change my opinion once I see the last episodes, but until that moment I think a fight between Viktor and Jayce would make lost what has been said all the series: The Arcane shouldn't be played with. Maybe they will enemies but their common enemy is the Arcane.

Before that I expect Viktor and Jayce to save each other again; as in season 1 but this time they're mutually saving from the Arcane's influence. At least Viktor to Jayce; since Jayce looks to be the most fucked up mentally, following again all the symbolism of Jayce reaching the light and Viktor being the light.

I wanted to analyze the religious iconography surrounding Viktor too and why even if he's supposed to represent Jesus and Jayce is supposed to represent Iscariot (though I don't think Viktor is always meant to represent Jesus only) neither means a bad thing. Jesus already knew Judas was going to betray him and he did not hate him for that, he loved him till the end (as he did with the rest of humanity). There are some texts (too tired to cite) that imply Jesus asked Judas to betray him and Judas, as a last act of total devotion, obeyed him.

Idk, just tell me if you'd like a religious analysis (probably after I have ended with the last three episodes, till then I do not want a word about what happened in the show).

-the scar on her face is bc of the car accident (coughmurdersuicideattemptcough) as a child :) it is mostly hypertrophic scars from the glass and debris falling on her and some burnt skin too, and she cant feel or move that side of her face as much as normal (hence the ever lasting lack of expression…..). It doesn’t look as obvious as i made it seem tho, that was mostly to bring out the fact that its there xd I would love to make a more detailed post about it if only i could draw…….

notes to start:

all the groups are idol groups with different goals and subgenres! mostly I just don't like coming up with new musical performance genres bc they always run too close to what already exists, and also I'm an idol fan by trade, so it's just easier for me to think of. I did try and avoid outright copying any of the existing units' concepts because I think that's boring LOL but some of them did end up running a little close anyway, despite me making them all idol groups to avoid that. oh well.

this was inspired by this super cute fanart series from twitter drawing all the Blue characters together, and I got super inspired to make similar groups for the rest of the cast. (unfortunately i had to split the blues in half </3 too many. blue domination.)

the Sekais for these units are also linked! I imagine in-game that they're in related/interlocking pockets of the overall dimension, and that breaking through them would be either the end of the April Fools event, or a year 4/5 end to their running storylines.

here they are, in reverse order, for reasons that will become apparent.

pink: ⓢⓤⓟⓔⓡⓛⓘⓜⓘⓝⓐⓛ

Luka, Emu, Kanade, Airi, Kohane; the Dusk Sekai

superliminal evolved from the same theater program as in·di·GO (below!), after emu failed to secure funding for it to continue. she is faced with an overwhelming sense of everything ending, but buries her feelings behind a smile.

kohane, naturally, is a big fan of the limited-run theater program, and to her surprise so is fallen idol airi, who she vaguely knows from school but has never approached before. the storylies weaving into music are something that has made airi feel a bit less bitter (that the industry that chewed her up can still make art that means something). kanade visited the show on its very last night via a hospital program giving her free tickets (which honami lightly forced her to use) and fell in love with the way music along with a story could move her more than just music alone.

together at dusk after the program's very last showing - all people left in the wake of other peoples' dreams - they fall in typical Untitled fashion into the dreamscape of the Dusk Sekai and eventually resolve to carry forward their feelings of quiet yearning, the feelings of liminal spaces and forgotten places, and honor them just as much as the louder ones. in doing so, they start a series of popup shows in strange and mysterious locations, often unannounced or teased with ARG-like social media posts, and with a much stranger and harder to follow storyline (for the diehards). this evolves into a very strange idol career for the group, all aiming to inspire conflicting and difficult to name emotions, and to leave a safe space for them to be kept.

blue/purple: in·di·GO

KAITO, Toya, Mafuyu, Rui, Mizuki; the Midnight Sekai

in·di·GO are ~night time~ idols, vtubers with extensive in-universe lore. like niigo, but for extroverts!

their group evolved from the same program as superliminal. it was an interactive musical theater / escape room program with long-running and evolving storylines that Rui was running out of Phoenix Wonderland. Rui looped in Toya early, knowing from school his classical background and having a Directorial Hunch that he was a talented composer and one able to adapt to the genre-spanning and improvisational needs of the show. a late-night escapee Mafuyu falls into the world of the theater program after sneaking out of home late one night, and quickly becomes a regular fixture once she realises that putting on a mask deliberately (in order to roleplay within the safe improv of the shows) starts to ease something held very tight in her chest.

before long the theater program was sadly closed, but the characters became so beloved that even after their run people searched for more content of them. inspired by the fans' persistence, Rui asks Mizuki for help, knowing her experience of online communities and graphic design. together with Toya and Mafuyu, who has long since graduated from dedicated follower to cast member, they pooled their knowlege together and created Vtubers for the original characters, adding one for Mizuki to perform with as well.

Rui manages the tech and backend for the vtubers, as well as managing any AR concerts they put on. Toya provides music and together with Mafuyu works on the storyline and character motivations as things evolve. Mizuki manages their social media and crafts intricate storytelling and lore videos, with Toya and Mizuki both keeping tabs on different areas of the fanbase to see how things are being recieved.

for Mafuyu, being able to become someone else, but of her own volition this time, becomes a safety net, and a way to explore emotions and express herself while keeping her true self safe. and for the others, the group becomes something similar, as well as a way to look out for the forgotten fans of the original theater production: carving out a space for night owls, oddities, and those who can't wear their true face in public.

blue: unlimitedSKY

Miku, Nene, Haruka, An, Ichika; the Blue Sky Sekai

an idol group centered around the "search" for something; this is more of an extended metaphor in terms of their idol work, but each of the members also has someone or something that they yearn for and strive to find, as of yet without success.

haruka convinced an to try idoling with her due to her apparently endless search to find a partner. the setup is similar to vbs wl2, in which kohane never overcame her shyness in order to take such a bombastic stage as vivid street requires; an never gave up on trying to win her back, but with haruka's encouragement decided to try and inspire her lost partner in a new way. she tries to see becoming an idol as another vector of achieving their shared dream.

haruka, while more tight-lipped about her dream, is in search of the figure from her fes card, and has braved the idol world again despite what happened with ASRUN in order to try and find them, and to inspire and protect others along the way, in the same way her hero did for her.

nene retains her fraught relationship with the stage, and is trying to build a different relationship with performing in order to reach the heights inspired by the mermaid performance she saw as a kid. in becoming an idol, she's trying exposure therapy while avoiding musical theater itself; getting stage experience while trying to stay as far from what she knows (and what triggers her) as possible.

ichika became an idol in search of miku - yeah. lol. - but specifically in search of a way to understand and express her emotions in the same way miku evokes in her. she longs to be able to understand her own feelings in a way that lets her release them in her voice, the same way miku can be a conduit for her own and others' feelings.

the group comes together when haruka becomes stuck ruminating, on feeling like she's unable to help her friends the way she is, and can't get rid of the nagging thought that she once had everything she wanted and just couldn't hold onto it. on a whim, she invites an to sing with her at karaoke, and an's vivid-street-given ability to pull feelings out of her opponent in singing/combat not only overwhelms the room's soundproofing and somehow involves innocent bystanders (nene and ichika, who were there by complete coincidence), but also unlocks something in haruka and an both. a shared knowlege of the feelings of frustration that come with having an open sky visible end-to-end and room to go in any direction you want, but still feeling like there's something beyond it that eludes you; wanting something that is by definition unreachable or invisible.

unlimitedSKY coalesces around that feeling, and aims to give not only themselves the strength to reach into infinity, to believe that not even the the sky is the limit, but their fans as well.

yellow: twin//tails

Rin & Len, Tsukasa, Saki, Shiho, Shizuku; the Daylight Sekai

twintails, obviously, has a twin & sibling theme; this incarnation of the Kagamines are explicitly twins (compared to VBS's partners and the other more ambiguous versions), and the storylines revolve around what it means to support each other as family. i slightly cheated to switch nene and shizuku here so i could make this happen, because their two colors are so borderline. but i actually like how nene looks with the more saturated group anyway tbh and pairing nenean is always funny

despite being a yellow group, their arc color is more of a yellow-green, and comes to symbolise new life, growth, and budding emotion - shizuku learning to let shiho grow, even if that means growing away from her, extends into a full metaphor & growth vector for all the sibling pairs as their storyline progesses.

Tsukasa retains his Tsukasa-Isms, given that their childhood inciting incident at the musical remains unchanged, but things take a slightly different turn when Saki leaves the hospital and doesn't seem to bounce back the whole way immediately (*this is normal actually). she loves his attempts to cheer her up, but seems happiest when things are just normal. scrounging for ideas, he takes her to an idol concert instead, where Saki mentions idly that it'd be nice to sing like that. Aha! thinks Tsukasa. He takes out his phone and starts googling How To Make Sister Idol?, and whoopsiee presses a song called Untitled and whoopsiee Shizuku got both her and Shiho lost after the show and ended up bumping into them right as they were going in--! (I couldn't think of any better ideas at this point. if anyone has suggestions for these last two, please shoot! the connections are sparse between the cast of these last two groups)

red: BREAK→DAY

MEIKO, Honami, Akito, Minori, Ena; the Daybreak Sekai

the unit of Whole Assing Your Dreams, Fuckers!

sunrise -> lantern/light theme -> light in the darkness -> emphasis on fighting for life and the fact that dawn WILL always come if you are stubborn enough.

this tenacity is what binds together both the shinonomes learning to use their clashes for good, as well as minori and honami learning to take charge of their own lives despite their setbacks and strive for what they want earnestly and aggressively (when required!)

i imagine the inciting incident here is Akito, in the absence of running into Toya by chance, still wavering on whether he wants his goal enough to commit to it. then him being challenged by Ena, who declares she'll just have to beat him at singing if he's going to be such a little weenie about it. they strike up a rivalry, for the first time having somewhere to direct all of the energy they waste sniping at each other, and peace somehow miraculously reigns in the shinonome household.

aaand somehow minori and honami get involved and it becomes an idol thing. i really don't know how at this point because honami has no idea who any of these people are pre-canon and even now only really knows ena lmao.

i had to swap the color order of the units so that people reading this from the top would still think i'm cool for at least the first half....

give me ideas if you have them!!!!!!!!!! i really like these units and i want to tumble dry them in my mind some more, but also it's way more fun to think of things with others.

⚠️idk if this needs a spoiler warning bc the show has been out for almost 3 years but if you haven’t seen the end of wednesday season 1 go watch it or just scroll so you spoil it for yourself‼️

if you have read any of my wednesday related posts it would be pretty obvious which ship i am most in favor of (wenclair 🩷🖤)

however i have never given a fully thought out statement about my opinion on wyler as a whole. besides you know this:

“there is no universe where that girl is attracted to a cishet white man like her whole character (and her family’s) is based on being the opposite of societal norms wednesday is the last person to be attracted to people like tyler and xavier”

BUT WYLER (AND WENCLAIR) FANS HERE ME OUT

before the big reveal at the end of the show it was true, i was not understanding the hype about tyler. he was the epitome of everything wednesday hates; a white boy who’s dad is a cop, but by the end of the show we find out he isn’t the person we had gotten to know throughout the season. he is also, technically, an outcast, and for sure a monster. he was also not a super well written character, this isn’t really the character’s fault more just my gripe with the shows writing as a whole.

this puts him in a similar category to enid: white people who are outcasts/monsters, who also don’t fit in within their own families (also also tyler and enid’s parents lowkey, highkey aren’t the best?!)

anyways, they both have things they can relate to with wednesday, like not fitting in with people around them and even their families.

they also have stuff that wednesday would mostly likely find more attractive in a person (i’m no expert but stay with me) they are outcasts and “vicious” monsters. no one can tell me she wouldn’t find any monster species interesting!! especially one who couldn’t transform for her whole life and suddenly did to save her roomie or a guy who can transform into a RARE type of monster.

and plus even before the reveal everyone loves a dark moody character with someone super nice and sweet!

so yeah i understand why people think wyler would be a good couple and i don’t exactly hate them like i used to bc i do think wednesday would be interested especially after the reveal of him being A hyde.

HOWEVER i specified the “A” and didn’t use “the” this very important bc wednesday doesn’t like murder she has morbid interests, curiosities, and humor. she does also do things that aren’t necessarily legal, but she, and no other addams family members, do or condone murdering innocent people (as far as i’m aware, please correct me if i’m wrong!!). she actively tries to stop the death of others around her bc, to an extent, she does care about human life.

now you may be wondering “what about her obsession with serial killers?!” and i want to you ask it again out loud. it’s just what you said it was, an obsession! she finds killers interesting, she wants to understand their patterns, behaviors, and thought processes. this doesn’t mean she actually condones murder.

there is one argument i could potentially sort of get behind for them to be canon later on and that being bc he was groomed through the whole killing thing he might not fully be in wrong which i get kinda but like he did fully kill people so idk. i think if the writers wanted to go down that route they would have to be very careful about how they do it so yeah idk.

overall i do understand where people are coming from with the wyler ship, i personally prefer wenclair and think if you like the tropes you see in wyler try to think about wenclair in a similar way and you might realize it’s not so different!!

also that infodump is SO outdated, i've completely scrapped the tinkerbell/frozen crossovers because it's so convoluted dkhsflk

but some of the tidbits about his personality and backstory still stands i just need to rewrite all his backstory and lore eventually into his intro post (which i still need to make ;;;) 😭

anyways uhh i want to take this opportunity to infodump (some of) my new thoughts here (+ some ghost bride tidbits) below the cut!! (some will also just be repeats from the old post)

while Yuuyu is mostly based on Tinkerbell, his personality is also a mix with Peter Pan’s (and his backstory having inspirations from Wendy Darling)

he can be curious, mischievous, and he's a does-what-he-wants type of guy. when he puts his mind into something, there’s no going back and he pretty much is motivated out of spite most of the time.

although he doesn’t vocalize it, he always wants to one-up anyone doing better than him even if it’s a thing that is not in his wheelhouse. Yuuyu hates being seen as inferior in any given case.

Yuuyu tends to be quiet most of the time despite the seemingly competitive personality. he would prefer to make bodily gestures or noises such as whistles, claps, tongue-clicking, snaps, etc.

like Tinkerbell (and Riddle hdjsns) his face absolutely turns visibly red when he’s REALLY mad (fortunately he doesn’t often express big emotions whether positive or negative, his mannerisms are always pretty chill)

(^ this is based on something i saw somewhere that fairies can only deal with one emotion at a time that's why any emotion that Tinkerbell seem very amplified, at least the Peter Pan movie version of Tinkerbell)

being based on Tinkerbell, his talent is tinkering and making stuff out of literally anything. and that means he is pretty proficient with machinery/technology/etc. (omg i just realized he can relate with deuce…)

from the tinkerbell movies too, tinkerbell had a twin sister who's a winter fairy named Periwinkle; so i was thinking of twin yuu isekai where Yuuyu was transported to NRC while a twst periwinkle was transported to RSA 🤔🤔🤔

(^ but i'm also still debating on whether or not he's going to be a yuu or just another ramshackle student who is also coincidentally named yuu and still incorporating twst periwinkle 🤔)

he has a scar on his nose because of an accident (that i haven't thought of yet)

also i still think if he had unique magic it'll be able to heal any physical wounds/scars no matter how severe (the caveat is that he needs his sibling to cast it)

i'd like to think that he's on the aroace spectrum or that he's demiromantic/demisexual specifically. he NEEDS to be friends with someone first before any romantic pursuit.

^ and i think that would be what he would be preaching to Eliza: that you should have a close bond with someone you want to be with the rest of your life. it'd be a shame if one's standards for a partner is only their physical appearance.

Day 1: Forgiveness/Change

headcanons/plot ideas that I have been thinking of but never got around to writing, maybe I will some day, but I might as well put the ideas out rn :D

(I yap a lot and this is stream of thought kind of typing and its not edited so... be warned, and forgive my spelling)

Lil pink one was what I prepared originally but I didn't like it so heres a wip Ill never finish; genderbend sad boi (gorl) Tamlin

hmmmm... idk much about forgiveness, but sometimes I like to think abt before he became high lord?... something something family drama, something something explore his family's characters' relation to him and stuff

the only thing we really kinda know abt the brothers is that they would abuse Tam, and my headcanon is that this is part of his father's manipulations. Their father (imma call him Cernunnos for now, plz dont come after me i havn't had the time to research deeply yet), would pit the brothers against each other. which lowk ties w/ another headcanon that 1. children of spring come in pairs,especially that of high lord's family, 2. Cernunnos would kill his own children. So Tam used to have many elder siblings who rebeled against their father and died, b/c they worked together and was able to almost overthrow this tyrant, Cernunnos then started to sepereate his children via sepereate education, torture and stuff. he would use shapeshifting powers to impersonate the brothers to torment (as in torture and stuff) the others and create rifts in their relationship, keeping them controlled and mostly trusting in him, hes like a sweet manipulator rat better take notes.

ANYWAYS BACK TO FORGIVENESS, at some point, Tamlin and the brothers find out. (oh btw the brothers are one of the surviving set of twins, and tam either had a twin, who died/was killed at birth, or was born alone plot reasons) The twins themselves are already pretty tight, they have a lil bit of an age gap- im thinking 20-25 ish years right so, they find out when tams 20-30 ish so at least 2 decades after the human war. at first shit is awkward, like bro i thought u sliced and diced and dissected me (shapeshifting powers dont ask, ill elaborate day uh 4); so they try civility, One of the brothers have a lover and illegitamate (technically since they arn't married) and they bond and stuff right, and they slowly start to trust and like bond as brothers :D

the twins being trained to be heirs know how bad of a state the spring court is in, how the tyranny of Cernunnos is destroying their court. so they plot to overthrow him, doing more bonding and healing :D

a couple months later the incident w/ the night court happens and his fresh bonds w/ his brothers are abruptly severed. that started out as Cernunnos calling all his sons into his office, presenting the bodies of the lover, child and tams friend- The night court princess, they fight and the spring mansion turns into an open battleground, they have a huge fight and the twins protecting Tam, gets injured, then rat and his father come and then shit goes down.

for the longest time Tam struggles with forgiving himself, if his brothers wern't injured protecting him they would have survived, if they were more careful, things would be better. centuries later, as spring falls to hybern he kinda relives this and he really just stuggles with forgiving himself, hes too much of a softie and cares too much and is too perceptive and self aware to blame anyone else

that probably made little sense but tldr; more angst for Tam, bc life hates him

Moving on to change,

I was kinda thinking of how Tam essentially had to rebuild his court 3.5 times kinda, 1.the first time when he became high lord, 0.5 when ammyranthy comes in with her special bran of tyranny (him accepting refugees into his court and the chaos of what rat does), 2, when her reign ends, 3 after hybern, so my boi is really going through it

following the death of his family, hes really going through it, the old corrupt officials of the court try to take advantage of him and stuff, and like he can see how the old way aint gonna do shit if he really wants to build a court where people canhave the freedom he won't ever truely get

so in the attempts to change the ruling system as, he kicked all of the officials out of the court (the corrupt ones), he just listed names at a meeting, and went "xyz, abc, def. and so, youre now exiled from the capital (or smth) you may go"

tactless and an absolute disaster, those nobles/officials then went on to spread rumors about how, theyre being replaced as the start of a new tyrant's reign, uh timeline wise, hes about 60 ishhh bc fae age slowly hes pretty much a teen on the throne, which just givesmore ammunition to his enemies in court. reputation in tatters, he continues to try to fix spring, he cant just abandon them bc shit is hard, no matter what happened with his father this is still his home. so he tries, by day hes tryna pull stuff together with the remaining officials, by night studying court customs, laws and other stuff he needs to know but never got a chance (or really wanted to) learn.

i headcanon that he tried to change the system so that the people has a say in what happens and stuff, after sometime and kicking the corrupt people out (or before), he goes and visits each corner of his court, check in on the people, get to know them, see what they want, propose them choose someone to represent their region or species or both, to build a council for democracy and shit (fae that he grows to trust to shut him up if hes being stupid) around this time, while living like a nomad going around his court, his somewhat friendly aquaitence (?????) eris, sends a message (personally i think this is his first time meeting lucien) and they take him back to spring.

time passes, the the court grows and florishes, inner court peace, everyone gets along and stuff, rainbows and sunshines yipee! he even has allies in other court (largely a cortesy of Lucien, its not that Tam doesn't have friends in other courts, eris, former heirs of summer and winter ect, tam just sucks when dealing with official stuff) then amyranthy happens.

😮‍💨 oh boy.. anyways

refugees move in, all sorts of fae, low budget elves, faery, spirits and stuff, and slowly spring changes again, the acceptance of other court fae, the spring community, mostly accepting but cautious of other courts get more and more friendly with the refugees, and at some point, some of them become citizens of spring staying even after utm

after utm, rebuilding the court was still lowk hell. everything was pretty rough being overrun by amyranthy's, and the return of the high fae from under the mountain, things are mostly going smoothly bc of the council and stuff, but as Tam still insists on doing both the ruling part and clearing the monsters to not lose more sentry lives, hes stretched realll thin but its fine, its fine, idk what going on with canon, i think feyres pov is kinda fucked up for reasons (but i digress) i like to think that while it used to start out for taxes, it no longer is, its more of a gathering, of the people, for a 10 days or smth, they come together, celebrate meet with the high lord, open booths for buisnesses and trade and its over all a very celebratory thing that happens yearly (most taxes are already collected, by region and those in charge.)

anyways after the shitshow of feyre, its like the 3rd time he has to pull his court together and at this point hes fucking tired, but his like nah i gotta be there for spring, swore his loyalty and stuff, and his council is like, nah get out of here take a break, which is not really a great idea bc hes in a poor mental state to be left alone.

through all of this, he went from being a happy child, to being a soldier, then forced to wear the crown. he did it well considering his background.

Okay. So.

I mustered up the energy to write a little vignette of this AU bc I also miss it and bc I didn't want to leave you two hanging! This is skipping ahead quite a bit to halfway through the season, but I'm still planning on writing and fleshing out that portion. I've just known for a while that this was gonna be an important part of the story and that I could jump into writing it right away!

It will probably be edited and adjusted for when the actual chapter is posted on ao3, but this is the 'rough draft' I guess! (Disclaimer: I know zero French and I haven’t had someone look over that bit yet!)

Anyway, enjoyyyy...

When there’s a knock on his door about two weeks into the summer break, his brain doesn’t compute for a full minute after he’s opened it.

Because why would Charles, his teammate, be here? In Spain? At his apartment? During their summer holiday, when they’re supposed to be ignoring any and all people and things related to F1, recharging their batteries, and remembering there’s more to life than racing cars? He and Charles have barely ever even texted during the summer break, let alone seen one another. So, again, why would Charles be at his front door.

Also, he’s a bit sleep deprived and delirious, so there’s every chance he’s hallucinating this.

“Uh...” he says, rather eloquently.

“Hey,” Charles says. And there’s a tentative smile on his face that Carlos can’t even begin to parse the meaning of. His brain isn’t just one step behind, it’s five steps. “Can...I come in?”

“Oh.” Again. Eloquent, Sainz. “Eh- yeah. Yes. Come in.”

“Sorry to stop by without a warning,” Charles is saying. But Carlos is too busy looking around in barely disguised panic at the absolute trash heap that is his home.

It’s not that he didn’t realize how much of a mess the apartment was before, but he sees it now through Charles’ eyes and feels a little like curling up and dying. There are bowls of half eaten food and dirty dishes piled in and around the sink. Various toys, games, books, and drawings are strewn over almost every surface, along with clothes (mostly socks, so many socks) littering the floor. Boxes and boxes of Lucy’s things that he hasn’t had time to sort through are stacked against the walls and in the corners. One of the only exposed walls by the couch has colorful marker all over it, Ana having done that particular masterpiece when he’d accidentally nodded off during Peppa Pig. (He’d been too tired to even properly get angry about it, which was perhaps a bad precedent to set if he didn’t want a repeat performance.)

It looks like a tornado has swept through his apartment. A tornado named Ana.

Not that Charles is much neater on a good day, and he doesn’t even have a kid as an excuse. But Carlos has a feeling that if this is the current state of his apartment, the state of his own appearance is probably no better. He hasn’t properly showered, shaved, or slept in days, and he doesn’t think he’s looked in the mirror in all that time either. For all he knows, he’s still got remnants of the braids Ana put in his hair yesterday. He certainly can’t remember taking them out...

Charles, on the other hand, looks fresh and groomed and sunkissed - everything Carlos would expect during the summer break.

He smells good, he thinks, unbidden. Then, immediately, Stop it.

Charles takes in the space around them, his eyes eventually settling on Carlos with an amused (and maybe slightly concerned) expression. But just as he’s opening his mouth to speak, there’s the sound of the bathroom door opening down the hall and the smattering of tiny feet running across the floor, before Ana declares in her tiny, yet surprisingly bold voice, “I didn’t have a diarrhea!”

Carlos doesn’t even have enough shame left to be embarrassed by his kid. His first instinct is just relief.

“Stomach virus,” he mumbles to Charles, by way of explanation. Then, to Ana, in Spanish, “That’s great, mi niña! Did you wash your hands?”

“Yeeeees!”

“Are you sure?”

“Uh-huh!”

“Good, because we, eh- we have a guest!”

It’s quiet for a moment, before Ana’s head pokes around the corner slowly. But her face lights up as soon as she sees who it is.

“Cha!” she shouts, but then immediately looks embarrassed by her own show of excitement.

“Coucou, Ana,” Charles says, amused. He kneels down and encourages Ana closer, accepting the tentative hug she gives him.

No matter how much they had bonded last time, it’s still been a while since they’ve seen one another, and some of Ana’s shyness has clearly returned. Still, it’s huge that she’s even initiated a hug, and Carlos feels a telltale twinge in his sternum at the image they both make.

“As-tu été bon pour papa?” Charles asks, cuffing her gently on the chin. Ana grins and nods. “J'ai un cadeau pour toi.”

Charles reaches into a bag that Carlos hadn’t even noticed he’d been carrying until he’d set it down to hug Ana, and he pulls out a pink rectangular thing, that Carlos squints in confusion at for a beat. He realizes what it is simultaneously with Charles’ next words.

“C'est une caméra. Pour que tu prennes des photos de ton papa.”

It’s a pink camera for kids, a unicorn adorning the front where the lens peeks out. Carlos almost rolls his eyes - of course Charles, with his recent photography kick, gifts his kid a camera. But the way Ana’s expression transforms with wonder as Charles demonstrates to her how it works is pretty precious.

Charles hands it over to her and she immediately points it at him. He pulls a silly expression, making her giggle. They both examine the photo, heads bowed close. Ana points it up at Carlos next.

“¡Sonríe, papá!”

He sticks out his tongue and her little finger presses the capture button. The joy on her face as the photo pops up on the screen, tilting it to show them even though it’s upside down, fills Carlos with so much warmth and love that he legitimately almost tears up.

God, he’s so freaking tired.

Ana bounds off to her room to gather her stuffed toys to take a ‘family picture,’ and Charles straightens back up, smile lingering on his cheeks even after Ana has disappeared down the hall.

Carlos wants to kiss him so bad. Becoming a father has turned him into such a sap.

“Ehm,” he clears his throat. “Thank you. That was- a nice gift.”

“No problems.”

“You know, you don’t have to buy her something every time you see her,” he says, humor lacing his words.

“I want to,” Charles insists, simply. They smile awkwardly for an extended beat, listening to the sounds of Ana down the hall in her room, talking to her animals. Charles’ eyes stray to his hair. “You have...something in your hair. Is that a braid-?”

“What are you doing here, Charles?” he asks, choosing to ignore the comment. “I thought you would be in Corsica, or somewhere.”

“I was. But I heard you and Ana had to cancel on the trip to Mallorca and-”

“Heard, how?” Charles looks sheepish, triggering his suspicion. So he repeats it. “Heard, how, Charles?”

“Your mum texted me-” 

He sighs, eyes shutting briefly in frustration. He wishes his mom would just stay out of this whole- thing with Charles. But, clearly, she knew he wouldn’t accept help from anyone else. And that he wouldn’t be able to turn Charles away…

“She didn’t tell me to come,” Charles rushes to say. “She was just worried because you refused to let her stay and help, and that you hadn’t found a sitter, or someone, yet. So I just offered-”

“Charles, please...” He breaks off with another sigh, rubbing his temples to stave off the oncoming headache. But it’s already too late, if the subtle pulsating pain, slowly increasing in intensity, is anything to go by. “You should not have come.”

“Carlos, don’t be stupid,” he scoffs. “Anyway, I am here.” And he supposes that’s true. Nothing can be done about it now. “You look tired.”

He huffs a small laugh, dropping his hands from his temples to meet Charles’ gaze.

“This is what someone looks like when their kid catches a stomach virus and then they catch that same virus from their kid, just when their kid is starting to feel better-”

“Why didn’t you let your mum help-?”

“I’m her dad,” he interrupts, breathing hard. But he softens his voice with his next words. “I can do this on my own. I just wanted to...”

He doesn’t really know how to finish that sentence, though. It sounds stubborn and stupid when he starts to say it out loud. None of this should be about him. It’s about Ana. And if he’d really needed help, he should’ve asked for it. For her.

Charles seems to know that he doesn’t have to say it - that Carlos is already thinking it. So, instead, he just claps a hand to his shoulder and squeezes.

“I think,” he says, “-you should get some rest.”

“Charles-”

“No, I’m serious. Go to your room, Mister Sainz.” A slow grin pulls over his features. And along with the genuine concern in his eyes, it’s almost enough to break through Carlos’ resolve. “You are exhausted. Ana will be fine - I will watch her. Just...rest for a minute. Okay? You don’t look like yourself.”

And he knows that must be true. He knows that he needs a lot more than just a few hours of sleep to feel somewhere close to normal again (a shower would be a good start). But it’s hard to even think of himself when he’s been so worried about Ana for days - researching how to get her fever to die down, trying to get her to drink fluids, watching her fitful face in sleep, his heart in his throat despite how the pediatrician had assured him she’d be fine.

But, then, he’d gotten sick, too. And instead of focusing on his own recovery, he’d had to fit in sessions of retching over the toilet in between caring for his kid and making sure she was properly fed. And the two of them had managed, even if it wasn’t ideal. They’d grown closer, he thought, by virtue of her needing him so much.

He couldn’t keep it together forever, though. Eventually, if he didn’t take a break, he’d fall apart completely.

It takes him a stubborn moment, the urge to argue bubbling up inside despite how glorious resting his head on a pillow sounds. But eventually he nods, releasing a breath he didn’t know he was holding.

“Thank you.”

Charles just looks at him with a mixture of fondness and exasperation. “You are welcome, Carlos. Now, go. You look like you are going to fall over at any moment.”

“I feel like I’m going to fall over at any moment.”

Charles laughs under his breath, pushing Carlos’ shoulder gently to aim him toward the hallway. “Well, fall over into bed, then.”

“I’m going,” he insists, letting his tired limbs and the heavy touch of Charles at his shoulder guide him toward his room.

He can deal with how insane this situation is - Charles showing up here, and what the hell it means that he’d come at all - once he’s had some sleep. For now, he’ll happily take it for granted.

He doesn’t even really remember climbing into bed before the exhaustion takes over, his body surrendering to fatigue now that he knows his kid’s in good hands. Trustworthy hands. Charles’ hands.

He thinks he can hear the faint sounds of their French floating down the hallway. It makes him smile with the last vestiges of energy he has left.

God, he is in so over his head.

Hi, no worries about my og ask being deleted, because I’m a weird little freak that writes drafts for my asks in my notes app. So here’s it again:

This is a completely personal opinion, and I’m not faulting anyone for having this headcanon, but I absolutely hate Asian Melanie headcanons, specifically Chinese Melanie.

The reason why is because I am Chinese, and I hate the idea of sharing anything in common with her.

But also, I don’t really like any PoC headcanon for Melanie. I’m not black so I can’t really say how bad it would be, but to me, headcanoning one of the most physically aggressive characters in the show as black is… not great.

And I understand that there are a lot of PoC that relate to Melanie, or see her anger as righteous fury that so many minorities feel.

But to me, she is 1,000% white, mostly because her anger sounds so entitled to me, she’s like “I fought tooth and nail for everything in my life” and it’s… a YouTube channel. Not “I worked so many jobs trying to climb the ladder but everyone looked down at me.” (Which Sasha did have) or “anywhere I go, people look at me with scorn.”

All her anger and the only thing we see that she’s angry about is that she became a meme.(an oversimplification, I know) And maybe she did have to work a lot of jobs until she got to where she is, but we never really hear about it, so it’s a moot point.

I am of the opinion, that all the characters that don’t have a canon race, are written as white, because Jonny Sims is white and he wasn’t trying to write a story about race. But for a lot of them, making the a PoC doesn’t really change their story, but I’ve seen people think otherwise.

The one I’ve seen most is saying that if Jon is brown, it changes his story because of the way Jonah was manipulating him and that he is a victim of police brutality, but I don’t really think that would really affect his story, because Jon isn’t a character that, to me, takes his race in to account for how others treat him. However, Melanie definitely is, if she were anything other than white, she would be loudly declaring the racism that she is met with all the time, as is, she only talks about her experience with sexism.

And I know I’m digressing, but it annoys me to no end when people are like “Jon has to be white, because if he were a PoC he would have been suspicious of Elias, and wouldn’t have been so shocked that he was the murder suspect. And if you think that he could be brown, you’re stupid and racist” And then they’ll turn around and say that one of the other ambiguously raced characters is a PoC.

Like, you’re going to say Jon has to be white because he he didn’t think he was a murder suspect, but turn around and say Martin “you’re the police” Blackwood isn’t one of the whitest characters in the show.

Race doesn’t really make a difference for any of the characters, but some do have more hints of being stereotypically white than others, and Melanie is definitely one of them to me.

Sorry, this got long. And once again, to be clear, I don’t really mind people headcanoning any character as any race, if I see something I don’t like , I just try to scroll past, and I never say anything on the post. I just needed to vent about the general situation of race in TMA, and put my two cents in. (Melanie was just a good starting point for it, and the one I personally have beef with) (also, sorry if it’s confusing, it’s pretty much just all stream of consciousness)
