I'm worried about Nettles.Nettles may very well have gotten cut altogether as it'd spare the writers the hassle of rewriting her to avoid compromising their darling Rhaenyra. They have no need for a character whose story paints their feminist hero as consumed with jealousy and racism(much less prone to a supremacist outburst); they would never allow her to disgrace herself by antagonizing another female over the affections of a man, anyway.

Not to mention this would spare Daemyra's pandering ship + if parts of her plot are merged with Rhaena, Daemon gets a soppy end, finishing off as a loving slave of Rhaenyra.

I don’t know how many times this must be said, but Nettles is an integral character to the plot who can’t be swapped out by others just because they are all Black now. Rhaena, Addam, Baela or whoever else these weirdo stans think should relplace her are not replacing her.

This isn’t the nor has it ever been the Dumbnyra show.

Did people forget about chokegate or the 50-11 times Daemon left Missy Anne’s ass in the dust.

Do I need to provide the photographic evidence again🙃 The love(in a non-perverted/materialistic/abusive form) never existed between those two.

Has anyone been paying attention to the leaks? Rhaena goes to the Vale with some eggs dragonless(like in canon). We literally saw Addam with Seasmoke in the trailer (like in canon). Baela has her dragon Moondancer(like in canon). Sheepstealer is there and Silver Denys is going to try to claim him(once again, like in canon).

Did you guys not see the leaks about how Daemon is going to go Ike Turner again🙃

Hell, I don't like it, but there is a way to include Nettles and have Missy Anne coming out clean as a whistle. Blame it on Mysaria which would screw things up, but not including Nettles would be absolutely nonsensical.

Sheepstealer isn't going unclaimed. Maidenpool is going to happen, Daemon isn’t going to be a sexless monk there, and he still is going to need a reason to say deuces. So unless they create some show-only character to claim him and to fuck Daemon just to avoid adding Nettles, Nettles will be there.

Sorry if this comes off as harsh, but I’m tired of seeing this bullshit in my inbox and the Nettles tag. Netty is an amazing, terrific, and irreplaceable character.

I know I'm biased because I'm a Nettles stan, but there are actual TV journalists/publications who've mentioned the same thing.

The only people who think she's replaceable are dumbass racist Dumbnyra stans, but they aren't the only ones watching this show.

This whole insanity is so funny to me, because if the situation was reversed and Az spent pages describing how he had it bad for Gwyn. How he couldn’t sleep thinking about Gwyn, staring at the gift Gwyn gave him, DESCRIBED GWYN AS THE SUN AT DAWN (my knees went weak right here, I was sold), placed a especial necklace around Gwyn’s neck, taking advantage of the opportunity to stroke Gwyn’s neck with devotion, thinking about biting Gwyn’s lip,  thinking about licking Gwyn’s whole body and imagining having HER COMING ON HIS TONGUE (excuse me sir, this hot for what?). And them Az and Gwyn are prevented from kissing because of external conflict (the only thing that could possibly stop them since – gasp – they like each other!!!!!!!) So she gives the necklace back.

Then Az turns around and delivered said necklace, THAT HE STILL CALLS GWYN’S NECKLACE by the way, to Clotho, for her to give to Elain (he does not even give it to Elain himself that motherf-), telling Clotho that if she doesn’t give it to Elain is okay, she can give it to ANOTHER PRIESTESS HERE WHO MIGHT APRECIATE IT (POV quote that everyone conveniently ignores) because he doesn’t want it. And leave saying that he somehow he could see how Elain’s brown eyes might light upon seeing the necklace, and how would bury the image down deep where it would glow quietly… 

My Elriel heart would be like:

Bitch, You are the one I’m going to bury coming near Elain with that mentality

There's really not much that I can say, right? For keeping people from bashing on Zutara or just Katara's character alone and coming to our tags just to create drama. But even if I consider myself a very drama-free person, there's only so much that I can take.

What is the point in going around complaining about the lack of brown girl rep in media only to put down, and villainize, and humiliate one of the few characters that we have for that?

What is the point in being a fan of a character whose arc was about working towards an era of love and peace only to go out of your way to attack other people in your own fanbase?

What. Is. The. Hecking. Point?

I'll tell you: nothing!

There is no point in these "jokes", and "wokeness", and "gay rep" in the fandom because everything they're supposedly trying to accomplish is not even there.

There aren't any laughs for the "homophobic Katara" jokes. No, there aren't. Not when those jokes portray Katara as everything she fought against in canon and everything all the female, brown-skinned fans that relate to her are currently fighting against in real life — in contexts and places that matter only for them to be mocked and bullied online for their tastes in fiction.

There isn't any "wokeness" in calling Zutara a racist or oppressive ship — and there certainly isn't any wokeness in censoring the word Zutara but not the racial slurs in the asks sent to its shippers. And you don't have to take my word — a Venezuelan Zutara shipper's — for it, you can go ask all the other latine, black, indigenous, filipino, east and south asian Zutara shippers out there. You just have to go into the tag and they'll be the first people you find because they are the greatest part of our fandom. (Crazy, huh?)

And, last thing last, there isn't any "gay rep" in Zukka, or any same-sex fanon ship going around for that matter. They aren't rep because they are fanon, the chances that they become mainstream outside of your fandom clique are very, very low; and as much as your personal headcanons are benefitting from the ship or how much you relate to one of the characters in it, you are not increasing anyone's visibility, and the chances that anyone from a greater marginalized group will gain any benefits from your non-profit, hobby-like content are still very low.

This applies to any fanon ship or headcanon. As much as I want them to, Zuko and Katara are not demisexual or bisexual rep (respectively) because canonically they show no signs of being attracted to people of their same gender. I am the one that chooses to see them as demisexual and bisexual. Not everyone sees them the same way as me, and none of us is wrong.

Everything people is supposedly trying to defend by attacking Zutara and its shippers doesn't even exist in this context, and it's only creating trouble for people who does exist in the real world outside from the internet.

So congratulations, antis, you're working towards hatred and intolerance. You really are making good on your name. 👏🏽👏🏽

It was bad enough when Daemyra stans were trying to say Nettles was just a “plot device” and should be cut from the show or replaced with Rhaena, but now some Green stans are trying to reduce her characterization and significance to the narrative as well 🤦🏽‍♀️I can’t emphasize this enough, Nettles is not just some downtrodden teenage girl that Daemon screwed.

Nettles is the only canonically Black character in Fire & Blood. She’s possibly the only non-Valyrian dragon rider that we know of. She claimed a dragon not with blood ties or magic, but with her own cleverness. She tamed Sheepstealer, a wild dragon who had never had a rider before. Who killed numerous dragonseeds before her. She comes from absolutely nothing. She survives the dance, and she is worshipped as a freaking fire goddess. Her story begins and ends independently of Daemon.

At any rate, there is nothing wrong with Daemon and Nettles' romantic relationship. Fans are underestimating its importance to the story. Yeah, the age gap can be questionable, as well as the power dynamics, but Daemon does actually put Nettles first above everyone. Above everything. She helps him to realize the possibility that Valyrian supremacy is built on a lie. That there is more to life than power or the Iron Throne. You are more than your blood or your name and she shows that.

Nettles is his light. Daemon is not a morally gray character without her. Daemon and Rhaenyra was never supposed to be a love story. Rhaenyra was a tyrant(and yeah it’s partially Daemon’s fault) by the time Daemon and Nettles became lovers. Hell, he was already "cheating" on her with Mysaria. If he had stuck by his wife’s side what kind of man would he be? If he had gone back to Rhaenyra or let her orders for Nettles' head be executed in a bid to remain “loyal” to her and her cause, what does that say about him?

He would have have never progressed as a character. He would have remained a conniving overly ambitious man with a superiority complex willing to use and trample over innocents for a throne.

Daemon genuinely cares for Nettles. For the first time in her life, she has someone willing to do everything for her. He loves her. Unselfishly. In a way, I would say that they liberate one another from fear and dogma. So no, she doesn’t need “saving” from him. Nettles isn’t Daemon’s poor unfortunate victim.

You dislike Daemon or whatever fine, but don’t bring Nettles into it as a “gotcha moment.” Nettles can stand on her own. She’s not a good-time girl. She’s not some little girl being misused. She doesn’t serve to make Daemon look more villainous. She’s not some trivial character that can be replaced by another in the show just because they now happen to share the same skin tone.

She is an important character in her own right. She has her own story. Her relationship with Daemon is not one based on grooming or abuse. Let Nettles be complex. Let her be loved. See her as someone who is vulnerable yet resilient and capable. See her as her own force. Put some respect on Netty’s name👏🏽

There's been too much Nettles hate so I thought I would counter that with some positivity. So here is the friendly reminder that Nettles was only a seventeen year old when she fought in and survived one of the deadliest wars in Westeros history, is possibly (and most likely) the only non-Valyrian dragon rider, is once again the first rider of a wild dragon and presumably its last, was doted upon and loved by a man who by all accounts shouldn't (by societal standards) even spare her a second glance, and later in life was worshiped as a Fire Witch until her death.

Hate her or love her you’ve gotta admit she lived one hell of a life, and I personally will be 💯 supporting her.

Oh they know she was that girl🙌🏽 That’s where all the hate comes from to be honest

But yes put some respect on her name 👏🏽She accomplished a lot in her life. Things that no one expected of her. She survived the streets of Driftmark all on her own as a literal child. She tamed a wild dragon without a drop of dragons blood in her. She got known Valyrian supremacist and House Targs resident Rogue Prince to fall in love with her to the point where he would have died for her.

She survives a war(with her dragon) that killed so many including two monarchs. After all that, she becomes a fire witch 🔥worshipped by the Burned Men🙌🏽 And she was probably the last dragonrider for around two hundred years🙌🏽 One can not emphasize how awesome she is🙌🏽
