And here's part two! Opinions and stuff from me!

So, that's tough to pin down? Like, what I think is underrated or is actually underrated? As those are very different answers, ya know?

Actually underrated that I see around? Haruhi fandom stuff. Stuff I think is underrated but actually isn't? Love Live fandom stuff, mostly in that I missed a lot of the peak years of the fandom for activity and such, apparently!

The shows we like to watch are anime or cartoons, mattering on the moods. Started Scooby-Doo: Where Are You? (The original first series, I believe?) a week or two ago and didn't get too far because of life stuff.

Neon likes to share Saint Seiya and the Transformers cartoons with us! Last month or so, I also streamed Ferngully, Robots and Happy Feet for a sort of themed movie block. Points if you see the theme without me telling you. :)

Oooorgh, that's a tough one! A lot of them are on here, actually, since I don't have time to read many books anymore.

You've got @somechubbynerd (girlfriend and great fic writer, helped me hone my own writing all these years), @pudgy-planets (Love how she writes her OCs and the Sailor Senshi interacting with each other and their own slice of life things), @justsescape (genuinely someone I consider a master of writing kinky romance that's equal parts both kinky and romantic), @muses-and-odd-fashion (the amount of lore this guy makes is amazing and I deeply respect his work to keep it all together) and @tonbatasonata (the one who actually pushed me to do my canon character blog the most and because I was writing opposite him here on Tumblr, with Taylor. (Yes, I know it doesn't take you there. He deleted the blog last year or so))

Hrrrrm, that's hard to say? There's the basic stuff, I guess. The role-playing scene, here and when I started elsewhere, has changed quite a bit since I got into it from 2007/2008!

My tips are going to be this:

-Have fun! Go into a fandom you're interested in with a canon character you like or maybe make an OC for that fandom? That's what I did to get into the Pokémon RP Community, back in the day!

-Be patient. Roleplaying is a hobby for most. Life happens and the like. At the most, maybe poke someone for a reply after a few days, just to check on them.

-If they'll let you and want to, definitely start roleplaying with your friends. Not saying that you have to, but knowing the other person a bit more on the other side is definitely a big help! And making friends through RP is also good fun! I literally met my best friend of 15+ years and my girlfriend (and also best friend) of 12+ years this way!

-This last one, I feel, is the most important: PLEASE FOLLOW ANY RULES OR DO'S/DON'TS THAT THE OTHER PERSON HAS. You wouldn't want someone to make you feel gross and uncomfortable playing with them, right? So, please do the same for them and take their lists and rules seriously. And hey, make sure you have some of your own posted, so they'll know where you stand on that kind of stuff, too.

1) that's a question that can be answered in several ways, depending on what you mean by it, so if I don't get at the heart of your question please let me know. But generally, how you see me write here is how I do rps. I prefer what I think of as long form rps, where you'll have potentially paragraphs of description and/or dialogue. I've done short form rps in the past, where your reply might be a paragraph max, when it was the mid 2000's and I was RPing with a friend via text. Nightmare format, do not recommend, even if we did a lot of good rps

If you're asking how I choose characters to rp as, I try to pick characters I'll have fun playing with right out the gate. I liked Death, so I picked him up. I adore Hunter, so I'll be picking him up later. I don't mind tossing in characters that I don't feel any type of way about, so long as they're not the ones I'm RPing as the most. So like, I could rp as King for a little bit, but I'd be itching to get back to Death or Hunter after a time. And I won't rp from a media I have no interest in

If you're asking how I go about the writing of an rp, that's a bit harder. I write a lot in general, so whatever style I have in rp is a result of that and also reading a ton. Sometimes I'll take a step back and just try to think of what the character is thinking or feeling, then jump back into it. For me, in the way I write, there's myself-as-character and myself-as-author, and the latter plots things and plans and whatnot. But I tend to have more separate self-states than most so you mileage may vary

2) Most of my rps are with OCs, historically. This is the first time I've RPed as a canon character, actually. Not the first time I've written someone canon, mind, just the first rp with them

1. Is writing a hobby or way of life?

I would love to make writing a way of life for me but it's mostly a hobby. However, my mind always thinks of writing, so it's a way of life in my head. Ideally, it would always be a way of life for me haha.

2. A journal full of writing notes or a clean, completed manuscript?

I attempt and want to keep journals of my ideas. Often my notes are what I type to others since I love to discuss them. In a nutshell, I gotta compile those conversations into actual notes lmao.

3. Who (or what) is your writing inspiration?

Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Kingdom Hearts were my main inspirations when I was in 3rd grade. It all started when I roleplayed stories outside and it was a long process of my desire to write.

4.Which is worse: someone you "idolize" reading your first draft or listening to you sing?

Both! I feel terrified of someone I idolize reading my first draft because I don't have a lot of confidence in my own writing...it's why I struggle with writing at all despite all the writing in my head. I'm also super insecure about my singing abilities.

5. Has writing from someone else's POV ever changed your own perspective?

Not really but it does really help me understand why a character feels and does what they do.

6. Tumblr, AO3, LiveJournal, or FFN?

When I post a fanfic, I would definitely post it on AO3. Really hoping to write a Phineas and Ferb one I had in my mind for quite a while haha.

7. AO3 wordcount, and are you satisfied with it?

I would be satisfied with actually writing the fanfic! Once I do no matter the wordcount, I'll be so satisfied.

8. What movie/book/fic gripped you irrevocably?

If they like my story, I know it's small but every positive comment helps me write more.

10. What defines your writing style?

I would like to go for either a single-POV or multiple-character POV writing style. I might use the third person for the latter but also some signals to indicate their inner thoughts almost as if they're reacting to the written events. I think of The Catcher in the Rye as an inspiration for aspects of the writing style I want to further develop.

I love to tap into the emotions, desires, and insecurities everyone has from villains to heroes. It is what helps me write these characters and get myself invested. I also really love weaving the in-universe past with the in-universe present of the story. It gives a story a sense of a tragedy or a heartwarming continuation when those direct or symbolic parallels are made.

I think it started as a hobby for me, but at this point, thanks to The Bad Batch getting me back into writing, it is a way of life.

Gonna go with the notes. The amount of notes I have to take now because of my TBI. Wow.

Well, I'd definitely say The Bad Batch, and I think my friend Marshall, honestly. Talking with him about writing and writing techniques and all that gets me really excited.

4.Which is worse: someone you "idolize" reading your first draft or listening to you sing?

Definitely the first draft one. Thanks to the TBI my first drafts miss so many things, and I constantly have to go back and add details I had completely forgotten existed. I used to sing all the time, and had an excellent singing voice before COVID, so maybe even now with a bad singing voice I wouldn't mind too much. I'm used to performances.

5. Has writing from someone else's POV ever changed your own perspective?

No.

6. Tumblr, AO3, LiveJournal, or FFN?

AO3! Though I love posting my Summer of Bad Batch fics here. The reception I get is amazing.

7. AO3 wordcount, and are you satisfied with it?

I just like to imagine he could be capable of changing and being a better person and- if we're talking him post-transformation, perhaps he could even become a decent superhero for the town like Metroman was. What do you think of this idea? /gen I'd love to hear your opinion!! <3

Hal might not be as emotionally complex as a villain like Frollo but his characterization is still VERY accurate to how a lot of people grow up to be like in modern days, especially online where they can hide their face. I always find these ficto representations to irl behaviors very interesting (other examples that catch my interest being: Ming Lee from Turning Red; The Riddler from the most recent Batman movie; Goldilocks from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish...)

(( Of course, it's always nice to receive asks about my muses, especially ones regarding their character, etc.! As for the scenario, I find the premise interesting and would like/wouldn't mind RPing that! He's 28, though (cause that's what they said in movie), so I'm not sure how easy mindsets would change at his age, especially for a seemingly stubborn and immature-esque character like him. It wouldn't be like Frollo's case where he's been close-minded for so long, but I feel that it would take a lot of time and effort on his part to change... and if he wants to :0 (also I agree with you, his actions to Roxanne & behavior in general is inexcusable; i just feel like you do that you can have a 'what-if' to characters and write/see them more than canon can provide...)

Fun fact: I actually have a verse (sort of) that when Hal gets his super powers and becomes Titan/Tighten, he tries to woo over Roxanne (like in the movie) but finds that it didn't work so he just kind of... moves on/tries to better himself after seeing "Benard" and Roxanne together and ends up being a good guy/hero! (It's still a work in progress and I'm trying to figure out how it'd align w/his character but still!) Basic premise is that he turns good/is a superhero rather than turning into a supervillain...

I also enjoy seeing real-life scenarios in characters and seeing them be really well-written... It really does make you think of them as real people (or relating anyway) and you give some wonderful examples!

I started writing when the COVID-19 pandemic began. I've done roleplaying before on Deviantart, so I thought doing it on Tumblr would be fun. Unfortunately, my first blog wasn't getting a lot of attention, so I gave up after six months. Then last year, when I saw the first trailer for Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, my motivation for writing came back and now I have more people to write with.
