31 Scary Movies in March  Day Fifteen: Pure

Hulu’s Into the Dark series is a series of horror films based around holidays. 

One of these such films, is probably one of the most scary and uncomfortable films I have ever watched. It centers on a real thing that I grew up around. Purity meetings/camps/retreats, the Bible, Christianity. Obviously some things in the movie are far worse than any experiences I have had/heard of. But there are some genuine awful stories that I am sure inspired certain character arcs/parts of this movie.

It features a father taking his two daughters (Shay and Jo) to a purity retreat. Shay is a new daughter, that the father just found out he had, and Jo is an obvious rebel. There are two other girls they bunk with, Lacey and Kellyann (both of whom also have problems with their fathers.) This is a camp where girls can make purity promises to their fathers before God. Things start to seem weird for Shay before their trip even starts as she is plagued with nightmares, but after jokingly trying to summon Lilith with the other girls, she starts to notice/experience weird things, both in her mind and in the camp itself.

(There are some really heavy themes in this movie. Tread carefully with this one.)

It gives light to the apocryphal character of the “first” first woman, Lilith. Giving two versions of the story, and putting a supernatural spin on it. It’s definitely a wild ride. Very emotional. Very good.

Saint Vanilla Cookie, after deducing that the horrors and cruelty of the world are caused by the darkness in cookies' dough, formed a messiah complex. Believing he is the only one who can save Earthbread, his extreme compassion for the happiness of cookies has made him an angel of death; though he believes he is purifying those he touches, he believes their cries of pain from their disintegrating bodies are simply a part of the healing process. Midnight Lily Cookie became the new monarch of the Faerie Kingdom after the death of Elder Faerie Cookie. When she turned to the path of darkness, her fiercely loyal subjects followed with her, sworn to protect her at all costs. While she holds no ambitions for conquest, she has vowed to assert the influence of her kingdom across Beast Yeast on her own terms, and to put an end to the false enchantress who shares her being.

Dragonberry Cookie reinstated herself as the monarch of her kingdom, keeping the royal family under her thumb and influence. Her passion for strength and combat drew her attention to the Red Dragon, whose power became her obsession. Now, she seeks to know how to become a great beast herself, and will do anything to achieve it; even keeping the Red Dragon shackled underneath the castle as it’s studied day in and day out.

Frigid Cacao Cookie learned to tame the Licorice Sea that had threatened his kingdom for eons; however, something of either his design or an external force led to the entire Cacao Kingdom freezing over. Cacao sat idly by as this happened, unmoving from his great throne with his head slouched and eyes unreadable. He has resigned himself to extreme solitude, but the swirling black ocean does his bidding in his favor.

Celestial Cheese Cookie never moved on from the truth. In fact, she chose to build everything from the ground up. How wonderful! She can bring her grand design to Earthbread itself, sharing her brilliance with all of cookiekind. Of course forging a new empire will come with resistance, but she is well prepared. For the devout, they will be graciously rewarded; the dissenters will become decorations. With the ability to summon as many arms as she needs, she can turn anything to gold with a simple touch.

With five new Beasts loose on earthbread, the fight to save it has become much, much harder…

Imagine your polycule’s cottagecore gf goes on a vacation, comes back as an evil sorceress and kills the majority of your kingdom’s population, then resurfaces again like 1000 years later, traumatized, but with cool fairy powers while the evil sorceress version of her is still out there somehow. don't know if any of y'all noticed but the way that pure vanilla and cacao already lose their minds when they encounter is like, I really hope the Dev continue this just

Pure vanilla - losing his mind and sanity. Cacao - Fallen into despair watching everybody who he swore to protect just got thanos snapped into dust Holly - I have a prediction that she stand hopeless to do anything and watching Pitaya become slave ( like, eternal sugar is sloth, so I guess she using creatures and monsters to do her fighting and bidding.) Golden cheese - yeah I can see her witnesses her trauma or witness everything she own and care are nothing but dust again. Or Burning spice could just destroy everything she love infront of her, could be both White lily - seeing cookies murdered one by one. (Somehow had an idea where she kept on blaming Silent salt for the murders, until in the end, she slowly learned that the one who been killing cookies and bringing war and despair is her and only herself. Not silent salt at all. He just there to watch her broken down and destroying herself without him having to do anything at all.) Or see elder fairy die again infront of her and disappointed. Possibilities on her and lots of it
