Anon who said was disappointed in 5sos's attitude towards punk/pop-punk and then be part of a festival here. I completely agree with what you're saying about all of it. 5sos (or various members) tend to complain about or belittle the exact people / group that they are profiting off. I understand their frustrations, especially as teenagers, but time and again they poorly express these frustrations which makes them come across as entitled and ungrateful and like they think theyre better.

Yes! They seem like they really want to be seen as serious musicians. When they insult their past and the past genres they partook in to distance themselves from that sound, it comes across as if they’re insecure about their own music. Almost as if they insult their past sound to make their future sound (or present sound) seem more superior.

I absolutely pride them on evolving and wanting to try new sounds. I wish they could say they’re proud of what they created and accomplished and are excited to continue to progress and leave it at that.

I will say, though, it’s usually Ashton who publicly belittles their past genres. Sometimes Luke. But I’ve never heard Michael do it. I wouldn’t know about Calum because he rarely talks in interviews.
