Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media

In April 2023 my Family plan to go on a vacation where we can refresh and celebrate my Mother’s birthday. I actually suggest to have a vacation there since my Father lives in San Antonio Zambales so we can have a vacation and relatives visit too.
My Mom and Dad were not together so we don’t see each other for long time we can only see our Father if we visit him. Some of us rode a bus to get there it is 4 to 5 hours travel. We are so excited specially me because it is my first time to visit the place specially the beaches added up some excitement when my eldest sister tell us stories on how beautiful the beaches in there and telling us what we can do.
We go straight ahead to little Villa beach resort, since we need to celebrate my mom’s birthday first.
The resort has several cottages made up of Kawayan. There are two big rooms for visitors who want to stay overnight, one is air-conditioned. They call it family room. We choose to have the kawayan cottages, we really love to have this old version of staycation.
I really love the place, I felt peace all over my body. I can say I can relax in this place.
Pundaquit beach is located in San Antonio, Zambales it is my Father’s hometown.
Pundaquit is one of the barangays in San Antonio. In Zambales, when you say Pundaquit, most locals refer to it as beach. Maybe because of the fact that the barangay resides in a coastal area. So when people say “let’s go to Pundaquit,” it’s tantamount to saying “let’s go to the beach.
For someone like me who can simply appreciate the abundance of nature, it will always be a pleasure to see beaches deluge with mountains and trees. Pundaquit doesn’t offer white sand and turquoise-like water, but it proffers natural glow which makes you feel away from pollution and draggy vibe of the city
How could you not be amazed on a scene where sea waves directly hit the rocky mountain’s foot before it reaches the shore? How could you not be mesmerized to the perfect view of sunset?
Pundaquit also serves as terminal point of the tourists hankering to see Anawangin Cove, Nagsasa Cove and Capones Island. From Pundaquit, it takes 30 minutes to reach Anawangin, more than an hour to Nagsasa, and 25 minutes to Capones.
With fine and greyish sand, the sea water is abruptly deep few meters from the shoreline. Resort owners describe it as “biglang lalim” and warn visitors who do not know how to swim not to go farther to avoid any undesirable incidents. It’s not like any other beaches where even if you’re already 10 meters away from the shore, water level remains chest-deep
This is absolutely a perfect beach for swimmers and surfers who look for added adventure during their stay. The primary source of income of people living around the area is fishing. So expect that while you’re swimming, fisherfolks flock in the area taking advantage of the vast sea to catch fish. This scene is very visible in the wee hours of the morning. It somehow benefits picnic goers craving for fresh fish since fisherfolks sell it at very reasonable prices. You can cook, fry or grill freshly catch seafoods.
There is a lot of souvenir shops from locals that we can purchased for our friends and families but also to help people in there to support there living.
The municipality of San Antonio Zambales makes sure that they are doing there best to enhance the beauty of the place.
As I surely love to go back over and over, my hopes are also high that its inhabitants would preserve it as what it is at present and keep the beach untouched by modernity. I believe it is better keep that way.

Mt. Tapulao Traversed to Mt. Pundaquit Traverse to Anawangin Cove Traverse to Talisayen Cove
Mt. Tapulao Traversed to Mt. Pundaquit Traverse to Anawangin Cove Traverse to Talisayen Cove
Mt. Tapulao would have been my 2nd Major Climb. The first one was Mt. Baling Kilat and I was not prepared for that. Two weeks before the climb, I had researched about Mt. Tapulao and had reviewed the itinerary sent to me. It was an 18 kilometer hike up. At 16km we would set our camp and hike the 2km remaining to the summit early the next morning. It would be a total of 36km hike including the…

The Climb to Mount Pundaquit
The Climb to Mount Pundaquit
Tumblr media
I’m not into hiking or mountain climbing. I really don’t have that confidence within me. Actually I don’t trust my legs, feet and even my hands when it comes to climbing. I always have that fear of falling, trip over something, stepping on unstable ground, hurt myself and not being able to carry on and sustain the climb.
My first taste of “hiking” was way back in 2009 during a team building in…

Wonders of Zambales
Tumblr media
The Philippines is blessed with several islands loves by locals and tourist alike. Yet, Zambales is one of the best provinces in the Philippines that host many tourist attractions and wonders. It has been gifted with natural beauty of its surroundings. Zambales coastline is most famous for its sandy beaches and deep blue sea teaming with coral reefs.
Zambales is the best place to go if you are seeking for a serene escaped to take a break from fast-paced life. Of the many beautiful landscapes in Zambales it is famous for, what draws travelers the most is its sweeping coves and islands
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the unique beaches in Zambales is located in San Antonio, Zambales. A quaint little town that has nostalgic provincial life charm. The volcanic ash-carpeted Pundaquit beach, a unique beach in Zambales where its fine light gray volcanic ash cover turns white when the sun is glaring. The pundaquit beach is usually the jump-off point to other attractions in Zambales. To get in their famous coves, one either trek through the mountain of anawgin or go by an outrigger boat. Timing is everything to successfully get to the coves. Seas can get rough in some days and the mountains can prove to be challenging for the unit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Living in coves and islands in Zambales will help you can learn how to live a simple life. The scolded island with little to no signal will force you to connect with nature and people around you. Also, there’s no such massive beach parties nor luxurious restaurants in Zambales. However, what you will find here are far more priceless. It is having a breathtaking and scenic view of the mountains, white sand beaches with cool and calm waters and most importantly, the simplicity of island life that can make your vacation memorable and very fun.

2015: Year-End Getaway
December 13-14, 2015
I have always wanted to go to Zambales because of the scenery and the idea of camping. I’ve been seeing lots of photos of people posing with the cove/scenery behind them and that has made me badly want to also visit the place and so, here we go. The last getaway before the year 2015 ends. Tada!
Asis and I, together with my sister and Andrei (his boyfriend), have planned this getaway a week before the date we were supposed to go. The original plan was we, four, were all set to go and had to contribute 1.5k-2k each for the whole trip, but since we all know there’s no perfect trip and that problems will eventually arise. We, had to deal with the all too sudden (THE DAY ITSELF) changes of plans. So my parents decided to also go with us and gave a very short notice to tell us (while we were at work) their all too sudden change of heart when they had plenty of time to think about this trip. The problem was we were all set. The budget, the car and gas, the food, the boatmen fee and all. But oh well, one must prepare themselves for the inevitable headache.
Anyway, we were off to Zambales around 2am and arrived around 5am. We met with Mang Pedring, the boatman we have contacted beforehand in the townhall of San Antonio. He guided us on our way to Pundaquit Bay. Pundaquit is the last stop for the private vehicles. There are hotels around and also parking spaces for an overnight stay of your car while you are staying in another island or cove.
We only stayed in Anawangin for about an hour or so. Just for the photo ops. There’s a lake and a view of the pine trees at the campsite but you have to pay for the entrance fee. We didn’t enter though. So we couples went our own ways and walked along the shore. Took photos and all. There’s also a rock formation at the farther end of the shore where you can climb on. So yea.
A photo heave post of my part 1 Zambales getaway.

✨ WELCOME TO ANAWANGIN COVE ✨
Tumblr media
Anawangin Cove is just one of the many ash-filled nooks and crannies of San Antonio, but it’s the one that started the tourism wave in the area mainly because it’s the nearest and the most accessible.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anawangin is not an island; it is part of mainland Luzon. However, it is tucked away behind the mountains that getting there by land requires hours of trekking over an almost bare landscape. The easiest way to reach it is by boat, and the closest major settlement is Brgy. Pundaquit.
Aside from Anawangin Cove, other destinations that can be easily accessed from Pundaquit are the following:
• Nagsasa Cove
• Silanguin Cove
• Talisayin Cove
• Camara Island
• Capones Island
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My friends and I thought of maximizing our time and money as the main consideration to our Anawangin escapade so we carefully planned everything. ✨
Tumblr media
Anawangin Cove is one of the most beautiful destinations relatively near Manila. It’s a favorite for city folk looking for a relaxing day trip. Luckily, it’s very easy to get there whether you’ll use your own car or opt for public transport.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zambales holds a lot of adventures and natural wonders for travelers. It's surrounded by gorgeous beach coves, waves you can ride, an inflatable waterpark, a nearby safari, and lush views. ✨
‼️ ANAWANGIN COVE ‼️
