took a couple days off to spiral but im back on the writing horse, have an excerpt from today's work:

"Al!" Wade hollers. "Slop's up! And you better be decent when you come out here, we've got company and Logan doesn't want to see your granny panties. I do, obviously, but you can show them to me later, when it's just the two of us and a big bottle of Boone's Farm Fiesta Strawberry."

A moment later a door opens. "Logan," Althea says, "give him the claws for me, would you?"

"Excuse me?" Wade squawks. "Stab me yourself, you coward!"

"I've tried. You always dodge like a little bitch."

"I've told you a million times, that's training! Do you want to become Geriatric Black Daredevil or not?"

Logan looks between the two of them for a second, then shrugs and lets the claws out. Wade tries to bend out of the way of the swipe, but his balance is off since he's trying not to drop the food, and Logan shreds right through his t-shirt and a little skin. Not too much, though. He doesn't want Wade dropping anything either.

Wade stares at him, his face a mask of cartoonish outrage. "Domestic violence! Under my own roof!"

"That's what makes it domestic, dumbass. Thank you," Althea says to Logan, sitting down at the table. "He's had that coming for a good long time."

Logan joins her, feeling the corner of his mouth twitch. "Happy to help."

if there’s anything about me, it’s that i will turn anything into the best bedroom to retreat too. i’m currently turning my moms shoebox of a guest room into the bedroom that is going to be seeing me through the first semester of grad school (and probably longer if we’re being honest). and my mom said it’s already the coziest room in the house 🥰

trust that if i had full control i’d be repainting because she did pick out that god awful green teal color for this room and proceeded to hire the shittiest painters to do the job when we moved in 2017 but that’s neither here nor there

I really thought they were going to emphasize that family isn't determined by biology this season. That seemed to be the through line with all the storylines. Denny and his biological father, Chimney and his dad, Buck and Bobby vs. the Buckleys, Buck with Chris, the sperm donor thing.

Unfortunate. I wish they were still doing that, but anything like that that they try to say later about it will just be undermined by what happened at the end of this episode.

I don't hate Buck forgiving his parents. I just don't know if it's necessarily the healthy decision for him to make. I hope it'll all work out for him.

I do hate Chimney forgiving his dad. If that's what it was about, he should have used his words. That's what we teach little kids to do, and he's a full adult. He could have used his words and actually tried to communicate with Chimney, but he didn't. If that was too difficult, he could have at least told his son that he loved him, but he still didn't do that. He only criticized him.

At least they acknowledged that Buck is Bobby's kid?

Also he's not choosing this couch either. He's still letting someone else determine his future. This time it's not a romantic partner, but I think he still needs to grow just a little more before he's ready.
