Pucca season 3 is so goated actually

Oh my god. I'm gonna rant. OK. So previously I was ranting about this to some people on discord (I sent the same rant to three different servers, it's your guys' turn)

So basically, in one of the various licensed Pucca games, there's a cutscene that reveals that Tobe killed Garu's father while Garu watched. However, this makes absolutely no sense given their canon ages and overall dynamic.

Below is the big rant, prepare for me to speak absolute nonsense.

So according to the Pucca YouTube channel, Tobe is 16 and Garu is 12.

In the cutscene, the VERY oldest Garu could be is about 6 or 7. Which would make Tobe about 10. I personally don't believe that bro would be doing allat at 10 years old given the fact he's regularly represented as utterly useless on his own (at least compared to Pucca and Garu combined, which is admittedly like comparing a housecat to a tiger). Assuming they're a little older than my prediction, placing the cutscene a little bit before the show, that would make it a little more plausable with Tobe being in his earlier teens (but honestly not by much).

But considering the Pucca lore is so generally fucked up due to the amount of retcons (Pucca being listed as 10 before being changed to 11 later on being a good example), let's assume that Tobe is at least a little bit younger than Garu's dad and Garu is a small child. Everything makes sense considering the timeline now, but that would leave their dynamic.

Their overall dynamic is the key reason this cutscene makes no fucking sense whatsoever and I personally choose to ignore it.

So, Tobe and Garu are more like frenemies than anything. For one, the only real reason that Garu seems to engage with Tobe's very non-specific "vengance" is his own ego. (In season one and two of the show, at least) it's evident that Garu fights Tobe half because of his friends and family and half out of spite.

Like, Garu just can't let him win. In the episode The Sooga Showdown (season 1 episode 19) where they all have to race around Sooga with one of Master Soo's ladies, we're given a good example of how much their rivalry is just one big dick measuring contest.

Secondly, that nonspecific "vengance" Tobe wants seems more like Tobe was wronged. Which could just be his goofy ass POV of how things went, but that's sort of reaching given all the information we have.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY;

In addition to all this, they are really just rivals. Like, when they aren't blinded by their little rivalry, they're shown to actually like each other's company. They don't seem to mind each other when they're forced to not be physically violent. If it wasn't for their egos, they'd probably be friends, probably have some sort of brotherly friendship. But they're both just little dillholes who can't take someone being better than them.

It's also important to note their rivalri is also toned down in season 3 for the point where Garu just seems to want to protect his friends and family, and Tobe just wants to beat his ass for no reason and make him miserable. There's not really any given reason for either of their behaviors because season 3 doesn't have much lore aside from the whole thing where Dandy is delulu about the Goh-Rong's """secret to martial arts""" and the stupid ass Dong King shit.

TL;DR

Tobe didn't kill Garu's dad, if he did their relationship would be much more volatile.

If anyone would like to prove me wrong, I would love to have such a conversation. I generally don't know ALL of the lore and don't trust the wiki for shit, so yeah.

I would also like to add that the yt channel can't really be trusted with any lore video posted within the past 4 or 5 months as of July 2024 since that channel is legitimately crumbling into dust. Some of the facts they give are a little cute, but for the bigger stuff I'd take it with a grain of salt unless it was stated somewhere before (like THIS video)

Recientemente me obsesione con lego monkey kid(estoy esperando la nueva temporada con ansias) y la temática china me recordó a una de mis caricaturas favoritas de la infancia:pucca.

Pensé que seria divertido un crossover en el que los tíos de pucca(dumpling,ho y linguini,si,así se llaman,tenían nombres más divertidos de lo que recordaba)y pucca siendo mayor, pasan a vivir a megapolis,donde pasan su negocio cerca del de pigsy(un viejo amigo de los 3)y pucca llegaría a interactuar con mk,ya sea por ser una cliente recurrente de pigsy noddles o por tener ambos negocios cerca del otro,el caso es que incluso si pucca no habla mucho es una chica sociable que se entendería bien con mk y siento que se harían amigos super rápido.

Me imagino que pucca llegaría a acompañar a mk y a sus amigos a algunas de sus aventuras,en un principio pensarían que pucca necesita protección constante pero rápidamente se dan cuenta de lo poderosa que es esta nena,tanto para hacer que redson piense que es un demonio🤣

¡mei adoraria a pucca también! Probablemente la presente en sus transmisiones en vivo como la nueva integrante de su grupo y querría que le muestre sus habilidades escondidas.

Ching definitivamente se llevaría bien con mk,ambos son solecitos siendo solecitos,aparte de que mk trataría super bien a won(la gallina mascota de ching)aunque probablemente no le dé de comer cosas muy aptas para gallinas😅 la intención es lo que cuenta ¿no?

¡los enemigos de pucca también serían buenas adiciones! Especialmente ring ring y tobe.

Ring ring definitivamente sería una enemiga secundaria pero seguiría siendo recurrente, a veces se mete en cosas más mundanas como travesuras y otras veces es un peligro serio por su carácter y poderes(es literalmente una diosa del viento con una maldicion,que esperas que te diga),siento que llegaría a formar alianzas con la familia demon Bull aunque esta alianza duraría poco por ser una persona infumable y caprichosa🤣

Tobe sería también un enemigo secundario pero recurrente,solo que el se mete más directamente con pucca y sus amigos,pero definitivamente tendría rencores al grupo principal si se entromenten en sus planes de acabar con garu,pero a diferencia de ring ring tobe es demasiado orgulloso para aceptar una alianza(sobretodo si consideramos lo mal que terminó las otras veces que se alía con otros).

¡hablando de garu! Puedo 100% imaginar a tang fangirleando con conocer a un verdadero ninja,también sería el quien explica a mk y sus amigos el voto de silencio de garu, aunque eso no lo para de hacer preguntas y más preguntas.

Como dije antes los tíos de pucca pueden ser amigos de pigsy,por lo que me los puedo imaginar teniendo una rivalidad amistosa con pigsy cuando se trata de los negocios,aunque digamos que toda hermandad desaparece cuando hay concursos de cocina(al final del día se reconcilian y felicitan al ganador).

Wukong estaría convencidisimo de que pucca no es una humana normal,piensa que quizás sea descendiente de una diosa o de un demonio,pero decide no pensar en eso y prefiere jugar con los monitos de la montaña.

I recently became obsessed with Lego Monkey Kid (I'm looking forward to the new season) and the Chinese theme reminded me of one of my favorite childhood cartoons: Pucca.

I thought it would be fun to have a crossover in which Pucca's uncles (dumpling, ho and linguini, yes, that's what they're called, they had funnier names than I remembered) and Pucca, being older, go to live in megapolis, where they spend their business near pigsy's (an old friend of the 3) and pucca would come to interact with mk, either because she is a recurring customer of pigsy noddles or because they have both businesses close to each other, the fact is that even if pucca doesn't talk much it is a sociable girl who would get along well with mk and I feel like they would become friends super quickly.

I imagine that pucca would come to accompany mk and her friends on some of their adventures, at first they would think that pucca needs constant protection but they quickly realize how powerful this girl is, so much so that redson thinks she is a demon 🤣

Mei would love pucca too! She will probably introduce her in her live broadcasts as the new member of the group and would like her to show her hidden skills.

Pucca's other friends are not far behind! Abyo would definitely want to train with mei (to impress ching) and would think her dragon skills are cool and would insist that she train him 😅

Ching would definitely get along well with mk, they are both sunshines being sunshines, apart from the fact that mk would treat won (ching's pet chicken) very well, although he probably won't feed him things that are very suitable for chickens😅 it's the intention that counts,No?

pucca enemies would be nice additions too! Especially ring ring and tobe.

Ring Ring would definitely be a secondary enemy but she would still be recurring, sometimes she gets into more mundane things like mischief and other times she is a serious danger due to her character and powers (she is literally a goddess of the wind with a curse, what do you expect me to tell you? ), I feel that she would form alliances with the demon Bull family, although this alliance would not last long because she is an unbearable and capricious person🤣

Tobe would also be a secondary but recurring enemy, only he gets more directly involved with Pucca and her friends, but he would definitely have grudges against the main group if they interfere with his plans to finish off Garu, but unlike Ring Ring, Tobe is too proud to accept an alliance (especially if we consider how badly it ended the other times he allied himself with others).

speaking of garu! I can 100% imagine Tang fangirling over meeting a real ninja, he would also be the one who explains Garu's vow of silence to MK and his friends, although that doesn't stop him from asking questions and more questions.

As I said before, Pucca's uncles can be friends with Pigsy, so I can imagine them having a friendly rivalry with Pigsy when it comes to business, although let's say that all brotherhood disappears when there are cooking contests (at the end of the day they reconcile and congratulate the winner).

Wukong would be very convinced that Pucca is not a normal human, he thinks that perhaps she is a descendant of a goddess or a demon, but he decides not to think about that and prefers to play with the little monkeys on the mountain.

As a current fan of Pucca I agree with you-

As someone with (absolutely) no interest in shipping Garucca while instead having an interest in the show itself, I always feel a little part of me die inside when people tell me that I should "deal with it" or "stop watching if I hate the dynamic" because they obviously haven't yet been able to tell that I don't watch the show for the dynamic Pucca and Garu have going on-

To highlight OP's statement once more, Pucca is dangerously obsessive and no one sees that- Some extreme examples are Pucca becoming a literal (and permanent) part of Garu's immune system in "Itsy Bitsy Enemy Within" and another time she plunged his heart out to fill it with excrement of herself in a short called "Love Operation" because she wanted to be all he thought/cared about- She has also, on numerous occasions, put spells onto him to make him fall in love with her- Like in "Full Moon Pucca" when she brought the moon to Earth in order to get Garu to love her, or at the end of "Evil Love" where she plucks the cupid arrow out of Tobe's ass to chase Garu with- Or even "Love Soup" from Season 3 where she makes a soup in attempt to get Garu to love her, only causing issues along the way-

As for Garu, it's obvious that he's unhappy with his fate with Pucca because she chases him and he can't have a life outside of her- Even in the episode "Stuck on Goo" where Garu is stuck to Tobe for a whole episode-- YES, BEING STUCK TO HIS LITERAL ENEMY-- Brought a smile to his face more than Pucca ever did- And do you know why that is-? Because Tobe actually realized that his strong feeling (of hatred) towards Garu was going to get himself into more trouble for the time being and ACTUALLY STOPPED BEING A DICK because it would save them both the trouble and cause less issues- Pucca STILL refuses to do this herself even AFTER the fact that most of her issues with Garu not liking her are self-inflicted-

The fact that Pucca's shit was romanticized because the gender roles were flipped at all is fucking wild- If it was Garu doing that to Pucca, the internet and the world would be all over it- But they aren't-

Garu isn't a prize to be won- He is his own character and person, and should be treated as such-

i've talked about this show on my main blog and how it always bugged me the way they romanticized abuse because it was a girl doing to a boy...

and that one show is pucca. yeah. pucca. (putting this under the cut if you don't want to read me ranting about a show no one really thinks about nowadays lmao)

i was the biggest pucca fan as a kid, i still have some merch with me. like i have some good childhood memories. i loved the shorts when they aired on jetix, and i was very enthusiastic for the full series they made in 2007/08. like i still love most of the characters to this day, like garu (i had a little crush on him lol), tobe and his ninja goons, abyo... they were all so funny and memorable.

but the main character, pucca? i just can't like her anymore. YES, i'm very aware she's a kid. she's like 10. i get it. i don't want horrible things happening to her or anything.

but honestly, even when i was a kid, younger than pucca even, it always bothered me how garu was the punchbag in most episodes. and the worst part is, he was always pucca's victim. at least the 2007/08 pucca cartoon romanticized stalking. pucca does the absolute worst things to get garu's attention, usually by kissing him without his consent or even outright kidnapping him, even though garu in this series never showed that he liked pucca back. EVER. if that ever happened, it was never the real garu, or he would be under some magical effect. all garu wanted was to be a ninja and go fishing or whatever. once he even preferred GOING TO JAIL than to be with pucca.

still, the show tries to shove down your throat that pucca and garu were meant to be and all the other characters encourage pucca to keep pursuing garu. none of the adults, not even pucca's uncles/guardians, try to tell her that like. kissing your crush without their consent is wrong. they just think it's cute. because she's a little girl.

to this day, when i see ppl talking about this show, they still romanticize pucca and garu's relationship. and it's really fucked up. like i know i saw through it when i was younger, but it concerns me that other kids probably didn't have the same realization, and the new fans won't either. i very rarely find people calling out the issues with pucca, and when they do, they will always be harassed by a legion of fans saying "it's just a kids show". one person even assumed i hated kids for some goddamn reason.

i know it might seem random mentioning pucca here, since it's very different from spop (pucca is definitely not on catra's level), but the fans always use the same arguments, that it's a kids show and we don't understand "true love". also because the abuser here is a girl, and to many people, women can never be abusers. (unless you're Evil and "ugly" like shadow weaver tho)

no yeah, i think pucca is in a very similar state as spop. no one thinks there's anything wrong with the main pairings. even though pucca is like, a decade older than spop, i find the fandoms very similar. they simply gloss over abuse because both pucca and spop do not take the abuse seriously. garu and adora are treated like jokes, or prizes to be earned by pucca and catra.

How about some Tobe scenarios?

Tobe, when he first meets you, he finds you annoying and getting away with his revenge against the ninja Garu, but when he gets seriously injured you are there to tend to him. After being bedridden for a while with you he got to truly know you and know what makes you tick, he found out you are ok with most teasing but when it gets overbearing you shut down and won’t talk to him.

 When he is better you will often find things like flowers and scrolls with poems written on them, they were horrible at first but they got better as time went past, at first you didn’t know who was sending you these gifts but you soon found that out when he came to your home you found out it was Tobe, he stood at your door with flowers and his mask off, with a deep blush he finally asked you out on a date.

-You Know Who I Am

Dude I don't know what to tell you. At first I grew up with Sonic Boom, then I moved on the the SnapCube Real-Time Fabdubs, then Sonic Prime. There was also Sonic underground but I can't remember any of it aside from Green and Purple or Pink.

People hate Sonic Boom but I thought it was entertaining whenever they weren't trying to force it. The girl who played Tails also played Jazz in Danny Phantom.

I think there was also an OK KO! Let's Be Heroes episode with them that I never watched.

The Real-Time Fandub cast give you little snippets of lore in their improve and that's how I put together everything. While laughing my ASS OFF.

Sonic Prime is full of sonadow though admittedly there's never much time for deeper moments and is mostly just a long fight scene but it was entertaining. The animation is if 3D was a squash and stretch cartoon. The fight scenes were cool as hell.

Also the most of the Real-Time Fandub cast did a playthrough of The Mirder of Sonic the Hedgehog. Great art! Great voice acting and comesy from the team as always! I loved the broke college student protagonist in that game! I want them back and have their own series of games where they show up at a shitty job and someone dies and they have to solve the murder! Like a Danganronpa protagonist!
