i think that after covid (i know it’s not over don’t be a pedant here you know what i mean) we all should have been required to take mandatory social etiquette classes before we were allowed back into society like a driver’s license test but for things like “hold a door for people behind you so it doesn’t slam in their face” and “don’t be a prick to service workers” and “get off your fucking phone if you’re watching a movie in a theater”

I know my experience is not universal, but I biked 5+ miles to do my errands today and I genuinely think we'd be much happier as a human collective if we increased residential density and switched to largely alternative modes of transportation.

#I don't know /how/ you'd do it exactly but this is my vision:#all cars are kept outside a certain perimeter. you can own a car and rent your outside-the-city parking spot;#or you can just reserve/rent a communally owned car when you need one #trucks and deliveries can cross the perimeter on a job but after the work is finished they must be returned to the exterior #inside the city perimeter you can: walk or run; bike or scooter or skateboard #or you can take public transit! there are many more buses and they can move much more freely in a car-less environment #there is also the option of cabs but - and this is key - the cabbies are unionized and the service is public #like the trains and buses.#there is no privately-controlled transit in the city. it belongs to everyone.#and because the lines of parked cars disappear from the streets; they are much better utilized #more kids play in the street. more block parties. more street fairs.#take back the space!!!#anyway this is my vision.#celestial emporium of benevolent knowledge

#fave spotting #mary tamm #romana i #classic doctor who #romanadvoratrelundar #public eye #doctor who #how about it‚ frank?#1975 #thames #pretty terrible pics I know but im still watching these on that Tube You know about bc my dvds are many many miles away #i think i probably only ever watched s7 the once because (outside of the fairly significant plot thread of the first two eps) i remember #almost nothing of this final series. actually‚ because the series (like most of its era) was shot out of sequence‚ this was actually the #very final episode to be shot. the much missed Tamm was early in her career here‚ with just a handful of screen appearances (tho she'd #had a stint with the well regarded Birmingham rep‚ so was hardly inexperienced). later in 75 she'd have her first real meaty role in the #BBC's adaptation of Muriel Spark's The Girls of Slender Means; then of course there was DW a few years away and cult tv immortality #she's good here‚ but hasn't much to do; the role is disappointing tbh‚ her character is a model and shows a mild spark of independence but #the script repeatedly defines her as the wife of another character and‚ particularly disappointingly (and fairly unusually for the show)‚#broadly supports the husband's chauvinistic viewpoint that she should be providing more wifely services ie. cooking and cleaning #it's dumb and irritating and it's very annoying to have Frank tell her she should learn to cook. idk‚ it's a bad moment in a bad sideplot #of a brilliant show. so it goes ig. but hey‚ always lovely to see Mary <3

I don't know who needs to hear this but if you share Instagram links it will tell people your name in a huge pop message in the middle of their screen. (You can test it out by pasting your own url into an incognito window without logging into ig). The only way to avoid it is to manually edit the urls you share and remove this entire portion of text and all that follows from your url: /?igsh=

once again confronting the fact that i believe that it would help me with my problems to pay someone to listen to me talk about my problems and then get them to professionally approve my conduct and behavior

#'like a therapist?' well. my problem is that other people are not being nice to me. and i need a venue in which to repeatedly #air this grievance and explore the boundaries of the exact sense in which their behavior is or is not justified #and then ideally be validated about some part of it #however. i'm not like. experiencing anything describable as a 'symptom' or 'condition' and even if i were that is not part of the service #which i desire to receive #i EXCLUSIVELY want a way to complain about my problems without upsetting people close to me [also affected by problems]#or irritating them with my desire to air the same grievance four or five times in three weeks.#and it can't be in a public forum or w/ people who already know me‚ out of respect for other people affected by the problems.#and even if this is all technically in the bounds of therapy i can't tell you how uninterested i am in being diagnosed or treated #for anything whatsoever. which seems like a live risk.#box opener
