ok here is the Post Of Morbid Questions im trying to find answers for due to fallout ocs.... if anyone has any ideas or knows how to find answers on these let me know bc i have Not been successful
what might the Courier's bullet scar look like, and what longterm side effects might they be coping with after taking a bullet to the head
the game's answer to this seems to just be handwavy "stimpacks fixed it" since you don't visibly have a scar when the player character's face is visible, but i want my own designs to reflect that injury and i cannot find a clear answer on what it might look like. mostly it seems like they should've been missing a lot more skull than they were. best answer i could come up with for the side effects is that brain trauma can lead to memory loss, seizures, problems with impulse control/emotional regulation, vision problems, and a whole lot of other things. so ive tried to consider that for my new vegas characters. i havent really done much with anyone other than bonnie though. anyway my attempts at researching this mostly have come up with "you'd just be dead" but what if you DIDN'T dead, though. what happens then
also, as a sidenote question, would it be possible that doc mitchell (i keep calling him doc marten. why am i doing this. stop it) could have extracted the bullet intact enough for the courier to keep it. i want bonnie to have it on a necklace but i cant get a clear answer on that either
2. how exactly would chems work / how would it affect them
i dont really know anything about real world drugs so im not really sure how to approach this subject. i know a little about how addiction and withdrawal works, but not much other than vague awareness of how people act when high on weed, and lsd makes you hallucinate. i dont really know what it feels like, why someone might use them, what longterm effects it might have
i learned med-x is pretty much just morphine, which is intended as a pain killer, also apparently can cause "feelings of euphoria," so that sounds like it would be a very likely addiction in the wasteland. makes it all hurt less. makes you feel good. i think initially taking it for pain (justifiable, it is medicine, after all) and then developing an addiction would be an easy trap for wastelanders to fall into. i think both my fallout 4 protags would be susceptible to this especially if they hang around hancock and get talked into it
psycho seems to cause some kind of... berserker mode mind break, so it makes sense that would be popular with raiders, but im not sure why you'd want to use it otherwise. just sounds like a great way to get yourself killed to me. i never use it in-game so im not really sure what its for
as far as i can tell buffout is just steroids, so. desire to be strong/push yourself to the limit/unbeatable is obvious living in wasteland conditions
mentats seem to be like. adderoll, or something? increased focus and cognition. im not sure why hancock uses them, though. he's told me it's his favorite ("makes me feel intellectual") but im not really sure what recreational purpose that serves if he's not using them to focus on tasks or something. i think im not fully understanding what these do. i think it makes sense for my courier, struggling with cognitive damage after the head injury, to use them pretty regularly though (and new vegas gives you a lot of situations where you can use them to help pass intelligence/perception checks so i Do use them)
jet is the one i really dont understand. i see this one a Lot with in-game chem addicts/find them all over the place in raider drug dens so it's clearly popular but i do not understand what it does. game mechanics-wise it functions to make time appear to slow down, but i don't know why you would want that outside of a combat situation where you need to be able to react fast. the wiki says it also provides a rush/high, i suppose. could just be that it's the easiest to get your hands on
it's also made from fertilizer. so there's that. no one talks about that and i dont know why
3. what changes or long-term effects would the vault 111 survivor have after being frozen for so long
i cant find anything on this and i guess it's probably due to "we don't know" since that kind of cryogenic technology doesn't really exist in the real world. we've never frozen someone for 200 years and then let them out again. the game doesn't acknowledge this having any effect on them at all, and i just can't believe there wouldn't be something. what's preventing them from going into shock and just dying of hypothermia / extreme frostbite. i dont really understand the science of how cryostasis would work. even if we just accept "it just works" i still feel like there should be some kind of longterm side effects. nerve damage, maybe? i think ruby (my first fallout 4 protag) at least has some trauma around feeling too cold or feeling like she can't move. cryo mines/grenades probably fuck her up.
4. follow up question, the absolute most SPECIFIC one i cannot figure out to save my life: if someone were to have an open wound, and then suddenly enter cryostasis for, say, several hundred years, what would happen
i ask this because i think lucas (my second fallout 4 oc) would have reacted violently to his wife's murder. he would have been fighting to get out of that pod until he was bleeding and it wouldn't even have slowed him down. i think he severely fucked up his hands, and then immediately got frozen again. so my question is, what would that do
if we can assume cryostasis does not cause frostbite damage to normal tissue, would it also not damage open/exposed tissue? or would the ice soak in and destroy the cells in that part of your skin. would you just unfreeze and it would resume bleeding again like it just happened seconds ago? would it heal while it was frozen?
my best guess is that it would sort of... heal wrong, like a poorly set broken bone (and if he broke his fingers, it certainly would have) or get infected, at least. i want to say whatever happened caused him to lose a few fingers but i cannot figure out if that's viable or not. i like the image of him stumbling out of the vault confused and angry and broken with several dead fingers he now has to find a way to cut off. i want lucas doing horrendously ill-advised surgery on himself to be a recurring theme

Hey shady baby I'm hot like the prodigal son Pick a petal: eeny, meeny, miny, moe And flower, you're the chosen one
Been replaying Fallout New Vegas and thought i'd draw my latest courier; Six, a nonbinary asshole that doesn't miss anything and is helplessly addicted to cigarettes, psycho and mentats. Ask him about his scar to get an ass kicking.

Something I’ve been thinking about lately is how cruel the depiction of the Sanctuary survivors is, in it’s incredible shallowness. They’re little more than caricatures, and what they reveal about the devs is ugly and mean.
Take the Longs, a grieving couple who recently lost a kid (I don’t know if there’s an exact date given, but it happens within the calendar year and is implied to have happened a month beforehand). They are heartbroken, and in turn, Jun retreats and becomes melancholy and Marcy hardens and becomes bitter. That is … pretty much the extent of their emotional journey. The most emotionally complex moment they share is when Marcy snaps at Jun and apologizes, but that’s it. They can find no solace in the community, or each other. There is no option to empathize with them after the loss of your own child, aside from a “hey, I’m looking for my kid, hope I find him.” There only respite is based on you, the player, improving the settlement they live in, and even then, it only slightly improves their mood. What does that say about grief, loss, parenthood? What does that say about people who have lost everything?
Mama Murphy is the closet thing Sanctuary has to an elder, a mystic, someone with a powerful gift. In a cruel twist, however, the Sight can only be unlocked through the use of Psycho, a powerful drug implied to be similar to heroin, and as a result, most of her visions are dismissed as the ravings of a lunatic - even as she is proven to be correct. She is old and frail, and thus not much help doing manual labor, but if you allow her to do the thing she is good at, she will inevitably die as a result. What does this say about the infirm and disabled, about spirituality, about drug users and addicts? What does this say about people who cannot give their bodies?
Preston led the survivors from Quincy to Sanctuary, and suffers intense depression and survivor’s guilt as a result. He admits to the sole survivor that he is depressed, and often hoped that something would take him out and give him peace. The only way to “cure” him of this is to tear him away from the community he has built and take him on further escapades around the Commonwealth, putting him in further harms way while he leaves behind the very people he pledged to protect. What does this say about depression, suicidal ideation, and the strength of community? What does this say about a person who believes he does not deserve to survive?

Cash and the Honest Hearts DLC:
-Cash is burnt the fuck out of the political climate of the Mojave. she’s tired of the Legion still appearing everywhere, even after taking a chainsaw to Ceasar’s neck. She’s tired of the NCR and their colonialist expansion. She’s ESPECIALLY tired of dealing with the Brotherhood of Steel, between the events of Dead Money with Elijah, the Mojave chapter in general, and how they treat Veronica, her companion and former BoS member. she decides to take a caravan guard job by the Happy Trails Caravan company, up through Zion National Park and to New Canaan(what was once Ogden, Utah). Maybe a month-long trek to an old neck of the woods is just what she needs to get out of the funk.
-Jed Masterson of the Happy Trails Caravan company has heard much about her already. between the shit that happened with Benny, and her “supposed” killing of the corrupt head of the Crimson Caravan company, Alice McLafferty, she’s very welcome on the expedition. when Jed and company find out she’s a former caravan guard and has been to New Canaan several times in the past on different caraven routes and courier deliveries, they’re even more thrilled. she also chases off Ricky, seeing his obvious addiction to Psycho and sensing it’ll be a problem down the road.
-Cash is, for the second time in her life, completely powerless to stop her caravan detail from getting wiped out by the White Legs tribe once in Zion. She thought it was going to be an easy excursion, and instead it merely reminded her once again of her crippling failures, particularly to her origin story as a raider. when Follows-Chalk comes to bring her to the legendary Joshua Graham, she’s completely emptied more than one bottle of whiskey, as well as several canisters of Jet.
-When she reaches Joshua Graham, the former second hand of Caesar, she’s less than enthused about helping him out. She’s even more bummed to find out the White Legs have completely wiped out the town of New Canaan, as well as most of the New Canaanites. She’s not the religious sort, but they always did right by her companies. Still, she’s incredibly reluctant to get involved in tribal wars, since she herself is not a tribal, and she also dislikes the fact that Joshua and this Daniel fellow he keeps referring to are getting involved. Still, since they won’t help her leave unless she helps them in return, she’s forced to if she ever wants to return to the Mojave.
-She’s never been to New Canaan through Zion before, and she’s awestruck by the sheer beauty of the former National Park, still mostly untouched by man and the Great War. As a long time survivalist herself, being in this place is a dream come true, despite the circumstances. the abundance of edible plants, hunting game, and clean water does in fact help her out of her funk, at least a little bit. it’s a nice change of pace from the sparsity of the desert, and she grows to care deeply for the sanctity of the place. she’s not into religion the way the New Canaanites are, but she can understand fully why they revere it.
-it’s also her first time experiencing rain! it doesn’t rain in the Mojave, EVER. the first time she saw the sky get dark and felt those first few raindrops, she thought something terrible was happening. Follows-Chalk, the Dead Horse tribal who Joshua Graham instructed to help her, couldn’t help but laugh at her minor freakout.

OWB DETAIL LIST
Yeah so i finally stopped putting off making this. I'll probably remember a 100 other things after i post this. i may make a second part to this or just go updating it, maybe, probly not
Higgs Village houses from left-to-right: Dala - 8 - Borous - Mobius - Klein - 0
Dala
Big into fashion, has the biggest bedroom.
There's a duffle bag on the roof of her house
In charge of minearology and botany, also a human physician. Jack of all trades
Likes to drink, alcoholic drinks spawn consistently in her kitchen
8
There's a skeleton behind his house
Despite being (allegedly) addicted to Mentats in-game period, there's no trace of them in his house.
Collected 8s of things
There's some silverware that's aligned perfectly except for the last ones
Had a briefcase with pre-war money and other things hidden under his bed, supposedly if he ever attempted to make a run for it
Sound engineering, but also dabbled on medical technology? (Sonic emitter was intended as medicinal before being repurposed as weaponry)
Borous
Made nightstalkers and cazadores on a bet
Might (or might not) have had a child??? But I Do Not Think About It
You can find some chems in his house
Biologist and specialized on genealogy, maybe a human med but who knows
Mobius
The man has such a big sweet tooth it's unreal, most locations related to him have at least one Nuka-Cola™ dispenser machine and his house is littered with Nuka-Cola bottles
Also a big smoker, as cartons and packs spawn consistently in different playthroughs
Also, big on weapons; or paranoid enough to stockpile on weapons
Psycho addiction is definitely more recent as it can only be found inside the Forbidden Dome
Collected Nuka-Cola™ paraphernalia
Was the one who coded the Sink's autodoc
On above, the 'faulty' code is overwritten over the functional one, implying a last minute change of heart. Stated that the Courier was the only successful procedure ever
His glove's got a skull on it i personally think that's very cool
His glasses give you +2 Int and +10 explosives, his robes +2 Int, +1 Cha and +15 Science
Neuroscientist, Roboticist, computer engineer? We just don't know
Klein
Patriotic mothefucker i would throw hands with him on sight
You can actually read the other labels of stuff on his beer dispenser thing, i do not know the word
Sometimes pre-war weapons spawn in his office, sometimes they do not. They're military and/or police related
Going from above, sometimes military related clothing will spawn in some of the containers and I Do Not Like Thinking About It but it makes sense
There's chems in some containers in his house
There's a container buried behind his house
Second to Dala, he has the fanciest house
His glove is much less cool it's sad actually
His glasses give +1 Int and +5 repair, his robes give +2 Int and +10 science
Logistics and assorted Maths specialty, but his job is to push the others to actually do work like a dog herding sheep
0
Messy fucker, his house applies as a disaster zone
Very applied but also very not successful
Good at knife throwing
Roboticist, mechanical/computer engineer

Courier time!
Backstory under the cut, please give it a read!
Born into the Jackal raider tribe, Vels "Marie" Spolsky grew up in an world of gore and voilence. The Jackals, known for their cannibalism and chem addiction, were a gang in decline after a failed raid at Shady Sands. As a member of this group, Vels was quick to become another raider to shoot on sight. At 19, after countless failures, losses and injuries, Vels's instinct for self preservation and survival kicked in. He abandoned the remnants of the clan and joined up with the Followers of the Apocalypse, who, miraculously, took him in and provided him with an education.
Despite his partial redemption, Vels still struggled with his impulses. As he traveled with Followers caravans, primarily as protection for the followers, he began to take on various odd jobs. During this time, he learned to use a sniper rifle, compensating for his poor eyesight. Eventually, this led him to the Mojave Express, where he took on a delivery job.
After being shot in the head, Vels was left with scattered memories. While he retained parts of his past - his addiction to Psycho, cravings (fo4), feral tendencies, and scars, his sense of self was altered. Despite his almost-membership with the Followers, Vels was far from reformed. He remained a dangerous individual, only slightly less unhinged than his raider days, but at last with a sense of wanting to become someone better.
Relationship with Arcade:
When Vels stumbled into the camp of the Followers of the Apocalypse, bruised, battered and desperately seeking refuge, it was Arcade Gannon who first met him with a mixture of skepticism and unwilling compassion. Arcade, as well educated and morally upright member as any could be, had his doubts about allowing a raider into their ranks. Yet still, something about Vels' determination and willingness to leave his violent past struck a chord in him. There was something about him that piqued Arcade's interest. Perhaps it was the raider's genuine desire to learn or his willingness to engage in discussions and listen to him was somehting that drew Arcade in.
Their initial relationship was rocky. Arcade's compassion for Vels was restrained by his deep seated moral convictions. He couldn’t ignore the fact that Vels had been part of a group responsible for untold atrocities. Despite that, Arcade couldn’t help but feel some sort of respect for Vels' decision to seek a better path in life. He was snippy and salty in their interactions, often challenging Vels on his past actions and future intentions.
Vels, on the other hand, found himself inexplicably drawn to Arcade. He admired Arcade's intellect and convictions, qualities that were foreign and fascinating to him. However, his upbringing as a raider had left him emotionally scarred and unsure of how to form genuine connections, especially with Arcades reservations for him. His attraction to Arcade was palpable, but he struggled to understand these feelings, often resorting to defensive or aloof behavior.
Thetension between them became more pronounced when they traveled together with a caravan heading to New Vegas. As they traversed the wastes, a tense bond began to form. Arcade couldn’t deny that Vels was a capable protector, as did Vels began to apriciate Arcades prowess with his Defender and found himself opening up, albeit slowly and with great difficulty.
Despite the growing friendship, Arcade remained wary. His interactions with Vels were filled with sharp comments and moral questioning, a constant reminder of the chasm between their world views. Vels, for his part, tried to prove his commitment to change, though he often slipped into old habits under stress.
A year later, after Vels was shot and lost much of his memory, their paths crossed again. This time, Arcade observed Vels from a distance at first, noticing the changes in him. The feral edge was still there, but muted by a haunted look and a sense of disorientation. Vels didn’t recognize Arcade, but there were moments of odd familiarity in his eyes, fleeting glances that hinted at buried memories.
Arcade decided not to reveal their past association immediately. He wanted to understand who Vels became without the burden of his past. As they spent more time together, Arcade saw glimpses of the man Vels could be, not just the raider he had been. Slowly, cautiously, Arcade began to extend his trust, hoping that this second chance would allow them to find redemption and perhaps a deeper connection.
The man before him was different, yet familiar. He couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope that perhaps this time, their relationship might find a steadier ground.

Fallout OCtober 2021 Day 4: Random Moment in Time OR Discovery
🏜🏜🏜🏜🏜🏜
"FUCK! You're dead!"
"ShitshitshitshitshitshitSHIT-"
Cheers. Screams. Taunts. Cries for blood.
The arena acts a cage, a monster and victim circling within. Only one will make it out alive.
The water gun was only doing so much, electrified power armor acting as shield of invincibility until it gets shorted out temporarily. A few seconds to react before it sparks back to life. Pop of another round of the addictive Psycho jet, and time blurs. They have to act fast. Another launch of a mini nuke and the power armor screams in agony. Rads spike, yet the courier couldn't care less. A few more seconds til the high dies. They have to move.
Takes a handful of shotgun rounds to finally put the man down, their hands shaking as the effects begin to wear off and their body continues its assault of adrenaline.
"Raiders, we have our new Overboss."
A moment of quiet from the courier. Near collapse as everything settles down. The adrenaline rush slows to a dead stop. Head pounding, a hand presses over the scar etched into their forehead. They feel sick, pale and weak. Boot steps draw near and a hand reaches beneath their ribs, pulling them to their feet.
"Welcome to Nuka World, boss. Hell on earth for you, it seems."
In the seconds of clarity before unconsciousness, horror washes through, Colter's body dead on the ground and blood seeping into their clothes.
"What have I walked in to?"

Fallout New Vegas: Word of Wisdom Challenge
This challenge is based on the "Word of Wisdom", which is basically the Mormon teetotaling (is that spelled right?) code. I thought of it because of the Honest Hearts DLC, which firmly establishes the continued existence of the Mormons after the Great War.
The majority challenge, as you probably guessed, is to follow the Word of Wisdom through the entire game, essentially playing as a Mormon Courier. Bonus points if you follow other Mormon tenets, such as no stealing or lying.
I'd say "murder", too, but the Mormons definitely did that, they just prayed about it first and killed anyway after saying they "felt the spirit". I think the only path allowed would be NCR, though. Mormons would tolerate House underneath a liberal democracy, but not ruling as an official corporate overlord who would continue to rule in sin and debauchery. The Legion is pagan and hostile to the Mormons, so they're off the table, of course. And the Wild Card ending requires murder of Mr. House - despite what I said earlier, I don't think Mormons would approve of that, what with it being done to seize power for the Courier's self. The NCR has regulations, a nominally liberal democratic government, and is the initial established power in the Mojave. Mormons are big on obedience to government - one of the main reasons I left. It's almost like the Mandate of Heaven, in a sense, but won't go into it. Anyway, you can only go down the NCR path too, I'm pretty sure.
Anyway, on to the baseline requirements of the challenge:
No alcohol.
No chems - steady, med-x, psycho, jet, you name it. If it's addictive, it's not allowed. This also means rushing water and slasher are off the table.
No nuka-cola or sunset sarsaparilla. These sodas most likely have caffeine in them, plus Mormons would probably reject nuka-cola based on it intentionally having radiation.
No coyote tobacco, and no coffee, either.
Crucially, hardest of all, no stimpacks. Since they can also be addictive, no.
To further explain regarding stimpacks and med-x, while they're specifically medicinal, they're not what you'd call "over-the-counter", the Courier doesn't get prescriptions with specific instructions on how and when to take them by a doctor, and there aren't any church officials in the game to approve of their usage, I'm pretty sure it'd break the WoW.
Herbal medicine is fine because it's "natural" and, crucially, non-addictive in the game. No consuming sacred datura root poison or tea, however, as those get you high (daturana, dark datura on weapons, and datura antivenom are fine).
This also means you can't do the "Ghost of She" quest in Honest Hearts, as the very first requirement is to collect sacred datura roots to make a tea that gets you high.
I wanna say anything with cloud residue in the Sierra Madre is off-limits, too, they'd reject it out of principle.
Oh! I almost forgot. No cannibalism. I'm pretty sure that isn't technically in the word of wisdom, just because it's already a rule not to do that.
You can end Honest Hearts any way you want, except for killing the Sorrows, Dead Horses, and New Canaanites.
I think that just about covers it. I'm doing a House playthrough rn, then a Legion one after that, where I'll avoid most chems, save alcohol and stimpacks, but will go full-bore bad karma and commit guerilla warfare against the NCR, but I think I'll do a Mormon playthrough after that. It will be... Interesting to attempt such a difficult survival challenge.

It's late I'm bored I made some of my OCs with my favorite picrew
Sadie, my synth SoSu
Jane Doe (fka Sofia but sometimes u get shot in the head and overhear someone call u Jane Doe and decide to roll with it u know), my courier
Blake, my male SoSu's raider daughter
I love how their personalities contrast and you can see it in their faces even though they don't all exist in the same universe lmao
Jane's so sweet and I've had her for years, I need to do something with her 🥺 I even gave her a pet name and call her Calamity Jane. She can't actually shoot for shit but she's clumsy and adorable and I love her
Also Sadie and Blake wear makeup (very rarely for Sadie honestly) but I have a headcanon that hand made makeup is sold in the Commonwealth because...after 200 years someone would put two and two together and make a killing off of it. I mean like. Come on. I know I'd want at LEAST mascara because when your confidence is boosted and you feel snazzy you operate better. I can take 5 minutes out of my day to put on mascara that I'll sweat off, it's NBD. It'll look neat if it streaks anyway.
I can not be held liable for any of Blake's actions. I've created a monster. She's not nice. Like at all. She might have the cannibal perk, she might not. Idk maybe she's just your average psycho addicted raider. Which fucking sucks because she was raised better than this even though her dad had his issues I can't believe she'd turn out so ruthless and cold and impulsive where did we go wrong-
Escaping from reality for a bit tonight was fun gn
But really that picrew is 10/10, these actually look just like how I want my OCs to look

Drops a Lucky Star Cap necklace and a faded patch of blue material with a yellow 13 embroidered on it.
Quests and Recruitment
Coyote is found being kicked out of the Atomic Wrangler after attempting to circumvent a previous ban. She then engages in conversation with the player, requesting all the ingredients for her homemade Wasteland Tequila (Empty Whiskey Bottle, Nevada Agave Fruit, Purified Water and Jet). Once the items are delivered she invites the player to a nearby campfire, and gives them a bottle of tequila to share. After a brief conversation the player can offer to hire her for 250 caps.
Personal Quest:
[The House That Built Me]
After visiting several different locations with Coyote and accumulating affinity points with her through dialogue (choosing self-serving choices or passing barter speech checks) Coyote will stop and ask to talk. If the player agrees she will tell the Courier that while she was travelling in the Mojave she heard rumours about Richard Saint, a man that might be her father (who abandoned her mother before she was born) being somewhere in the area. After taking a short detective journey across the Mojave it is discovered that the man who is Coyote’s father is living richly on the Strip. Coyote reveals that after her father left, her mother had to turn to prostitution to make ends meet, got hooked on chems and eventually died, leaving Coyote alone.
When confronted it is revealed that Coyote’s mother had been a drug-addicted prostitute long before she solicited Richard in New Reno, and that contrary to her mother’s claims he never knew about Coyote being conceived. Richard is aloof and has no interest in Coyote, threatening to call security on her. Coyote is furious and wants to kill him. The player then convince Coyote that
- Richard is her deadbeat father and should die for abandoning them [Feelings Are For Suckers]
- Her father could have been any number of clients and Richard’s life should be spared [Where Your Heart Is]
Ending Slides
.
If their personal quest is never completed…
After the battle of Hoover Dam, Coyote soon parted ways with the Courier, drifting across the Mojave, looking for something she would never find...
[Feelings Are For Suckers] ...eventually, residents of Vegas began speaking of an uprising in Vault 3, and soon the Fiends became more organised, aggressive, and deadlier than ever, attacking caravans and spreading further outward until North Vegas Square was finally overrun. This new tribe of Fiends began calling themselves the Coyotes.
[Where Your Heart Is] ...as time grew, she began attracting other drifters and travellers to her. Weary adventurers, chem addicts, ex-legion, Vipers and Jackals...soon, every bar in the Mojave began to spin tales of the nomadic gang of mercenaries that left a river of blood in every job they took - and they were available for hire, if you could afford the price.
If the Courier sides with Legion and…
After the Legion took the Dam, Coyote simply adjusted and began selling weaponry and protection to those looking to flee the legion, or to travel to it. She always made sure to be one step ahead of the slaver’s collar, though,
If the Courier sides with NCR and…
With the NCR winning the dam, the Mojave began to lose its free and savage appeal that it once had. Coyote took to stealing from caravans and military outposts under the cover of night, determined to profit from the NCR’s victory in her own way.
If the Courier sides with House and…
With House maintaining the status Quo of New Vegas, Coyote gained a brief stint of infamy within the strip after clearing out every Casino in a single afternoon. She spent most of it at Gun Runners, and the rest was put towards buying as many chems as she could.
If the Courier makes New Vegas independent and…
After the Second Battle of Hoover Dam resulted in an Independent New Vegas, Coyote felt something almost close to gratitude towards the courier, who understood better than most that some things must always remain wild and free.

Quests and Recruitment
How does the courier recruit your oc? Write a short description where your oc is found and if there are any requirements to recruit them as a companion.
You receive the quest “King on His Own” from Pacer after G.I Blues quest is done in the Kings’ favour. He speaks about a member of the Kings that had to be kicked out after “going psycho” from drug withdrawal. He says that this member was really impressive in a fight and he’d like to see him come back to them. Problem is, it’s impossible to get him to go sober, so he asks the Courier if they could do anything.
You can find Hades either in a vagrant camp (usually the one near the Strip) or the Atomic Wrangler. At first he’s very depressed and generally lethargic. Having high reputation with the Kings allows you to hire him as a companion, but first he asks you to track down 5 bottles of Hydra and some whiskey for his “happy time cocktail”. Upon doing this he’ll take this “cocktail” and suddenly become more upbeat and flirtious (if the courier is male). If the courier is female he’ll seem reluctant to join you, but does after a 25 Speech check.
Bringing him back to Pacer leads to Pacer being disappointed in Hades, but he requests that you keep Hades around for a bit longer to see if you can help. Agreeing to this completes the quest and hires Hades as a proper companion with his quirk.
Personal quests are an important part of developing our companions. What is your oc’s personal quest(s), and what are the different ways the courier can complete them?
After travelling for some time, there’s a random chance you’ll witness Hades going through withdrawal. He’ll become very depressed and easily angered, fighting anything that comes within his perspective. Talking to him will give you the option of giving him Fixer which prompts him to open up more about himself.
He reveals he was born in a Vault set underneath an Arts Theatre. The musical scripts found in it is where his tribe gets their names from; he’s named after Hadestown: The Musical. He left his tribe as a young adult to seek adventure but was captured and sold into slavery.
He refuses to go into anymore detail. Passing a 50 Speech Check he’ll reveal that he was sold to an older women that lived in this fancy condo for rich people. He’ll shudder at the memory then end dialogue.
This prompts the beginning of his personal quest, “Why We Build the Wall”.
After completing three quests for the NCR, Hades will mention his distain for the NCR. Through dialogue it’s revealed he was a soldier for them but deserted during the Bitter Springs Massacre. Talking to Captain Gilles with Hades in the party will prompt a conversation between the two. Gilles is disappointed, but not surprise that Hades deserted them while Hades is bitter and disgusted that they’re still here. You can resolve the conversation peacefully with a Speech check of 30.
After becoming Liked by the Legion this prompts a conversation with Hades. He is neutral towards them, saying their slavery is horrifying but at least they protect their citizens. He says he’d rather join an honest evil than a dishonest good. You can then ask him about his time as a slave. Reluctantly he reveals that his owner would beat and assault him whenever something upset her. He’s biased against women because of this (something he apologizes for if the courier is female). He is gleeful as he reveals that he escaped after she had a heartattack at a party, but quickly becomes subdued again as he’s been wandering every since.
The last condition needed is to complete the quest “High Times” with Hades in the party. Upon completion he opens dialogue mentioning he drinks and uses drugs to forget his past. He says his companion, Tesla, is a complete amnesiac due to her excessive drug use and he’s kind of been hoping to have that happen to him too. But everytime he has a withdrawal, all those feelings he’s been bottling up just come out and start the cycle over again.
Through dialogue you get two choices to help him.
The “Warrior” end, has him continue to use drugs now adding in Buffout to help control his withdrawals. He becomes tougher and buries the past completely.
The “Retiree” end has him use drugs at a half dose, using more Fixer and visiting the Followers. He regains more skills and unlocks his Shack where he gives you supplies like ammo and different crafting scrap.
Ending Slides
Another important part of companions is their ending slides. How do their endings change based on how their quests are completed and how the courier decides to handle the world around them? Below is a short template listing the different main story outcomes. Feel free to change whatever you need to fit your OC’s story.
If their personal quest is never completed…
Hades, ever drifting between highs and lows, remained a vagrant to the very end. Haunted by his past, body deteriorating from alcoholism, he took his life outside of the Strip’s Gates: a symbol of how the Mojave can chew one up and spit them out.
If the Courier sides with Legion and Hades quest is completed with the Warrior Ending
As the Legion marched into Freeside they rounded up the drug addicts and vagrants. Most were executed on sight, some, like Hades, showed a battle prowess that impressed Caeser. Hades was cast into the Arena and after many battles, was finally slain. His body was burned in a sign of respect.
If the Courier sides with Legion and Hades quest is completed with the Retiree Ending
Hidden away in his shack, Hades escaped Legion sight for a long time. Upon finding the now sober Hades, they captured him and sold him to Aurelius of Pheonix (or Lucius if Aurelius is dead) as a repairs specialist. Though once again a slave, Hades accepted his fate and eventually passed of natural causes.
If the Courier sides with NCR and Hades quest is completed with the Warrior Ending
With the NCR taking over New Vegas, it wasn’t long before deserters were brought to justice. Hades refused arrest and fought until the very end, taking out many NCR soldiers in his wake. He eventually went down under a hail of bullets, screaming his bitterness to the skies.
If the Courier sides with NCR and Hades quest is completed with the Retiree Ending
With the NCR taking over New Vegas, it wasn’t long before deserters were brought to justice. Hades was brought before a trial and accepted his imprisonment. He lived out the rest of his days working in the mines, eventually dying in a mineshaft collapse, surrounded by other Kings.
If the Courier sides with House and Hades quest is completed with Any Ending
Hades, like many vagrants in Freeside, was either ignored by Mr House or shot down when his robots came strolling into the town. Being a friend of the Courier, he was left alone by other factions in Freeside; leading to a lonely, if peaceful, life.
If the Courier makes New Vegas independent and Hades quest is completed with Any Ending
Along with the other Kings in Freeside, Hades ruled and enjoyed a free life. In the chaos he often relapsed into using more dangerous drugs and whored himself out without care. Eventually, he passed after a bad, violent trip on pyscho which lead to him being killed in self defense.

Ok I'm gonna write this I'm gonna do it
Sunny is Courier Six, she's a tribal who got absorbed into the legion. That's why she has such a weird accent, though
She was a slave but managed to escape fairly young but uhhhh yeah all the trauma she usually has Plus Extra
Traveled around for a few years as a merc then became a courier because it basically let her get paid for drifting
Takes the shit with Benny personally but more like. Well you botched a simple fuckin assassination is what you did if you ain't gonna finish the job right the jobs gonna finish you
Doesnt give a shit about the NCR but will shoot Legion on sight, obviously
Also doesnt give a shit about House but when she learns about Yes Man shes like. Wait. Wait. I could do some good here
Basically she goes from damaged and Tired and mainly looking for revenge to like. Suddenly hopeful
I think Shes gonna date Cass or Veronica? Maybe even both, but I think Vera is going to be a major influence in her taking the wildcard route. Bc she sees the brotherhood from the inside and the NCR and is like, tall are dying. I could build a free Vegas
Idk what's gonna happen bc lbr I'll never get anywhere finished if I do write it but somewhere along the way she also deals with Psycho addiction but probably ends up putting Vegas in the hands of the Followers of the Apocalypse
