Beginning of Chapter 2 - X-Manson by Doctor Benway - Annotated By Tsar
Here we get an insight into how the professor came to meet Jean Grey and her family's thoughts after the events that transpired with Xavier's Cult. As usual, my comments will be in pink, Benways in White, and important points will be marked in red.
Next Post
She is halfway into the first bag of chips when the documentary comes back on. Her hands reach in mechanically, one at a time, slowly turning shiny with grease and becoming speckled with salt grains. She dips each chip into the thick, latex-paint-like dip. She empties a half pound tub of it in under 15 minutes.
*that's the most disgusting description of chips and dip that i've ever read.
----
[Shot of prosperous looking middle-aged couple in a rather upscale suburban living room furnished entirely out of the 1976 Sears Catalogue]
*the waspiest WASPs to ever WASP.
[Caption: John and Elaine Grey, Bethpage NY]
JG: We thought we were doing the best for our daughter.
EG: He said he could help her and he did.
JG: We thought she was never going to wake up again.
Int: When did she go into a coma?
JG: September 25, 1969
*while she did not go into a coma, jean was helped out of her psychic based depression by charles that resulted from her childhood friend, Annie dying in after getting hit by a car.
Int: That would have been three weeks after Charles Xavier opened his school. Did you know him then?
EG: Not until he came to see my daughter in the hospital. He told me that he was a psychiatrist.
JG: I believed him. He did wake her up. Damn it, she was my daughter. I did everything I could for her. I knew it was the right thing at the time. I knew it, I couldn't help myself.
[Shot of a younger woman, in a small but comfortable apartment]
[Caption: Sarah Grey, Social Worker, Hoboken NJ]
*hey, the only sibling of jean who isn't terrible.
SG: Mom and Dad never had a clue. They meant well, but they had no idea what she was going through. She went for self-medication, like most 'paths do. I was covering for her from the age of twelve.
*comics jean watched annie die at the age of ten, maybe she was self medicating because of this incident?
Int: How so?
SG: Doing her homework, keeping Mom and Dad away when she was high, making excuses for her when no-one had any idea where she was.
Int: Did she ever run away from home?
SG: Four or five times. Never got far, though.
Int: Were you with her when she went into a coma?
SG: Yeah. She blacked out in the mall. I thought she'd been drinking, but I couldn't wake her up. That really scared me.
[Shot: The Greys]
EG: Our daughter never touched drugs or alcohol. Never.
JG: She was a good girl.
EG: She thrived at the School.
Int: Did you visit her there?
JG: Once or twice.
Int: She was a boarder there.
JG: We thought it was best.
Int: You never felt the need to visit more often?.
EG: No, I imagine because of what he did to our minds.
[Shot of Sarah Grey]
SG: He didn't have to do anything to their minds. They were so far in denial they were seeing pyramids. As long as they talked on the phone once a week and she said everything was OK, they were happy.
Int: Did you go to the School?
SG: Every week.
Int: What did you think of it?
SG: Guess I thought it was kind of neat, compared to Bethpage High. I mean, they had no timetable, they could study what they wanted to, they had all kinds of neat stuff like a VCR. We used to watch movies on tape, back when that was new.
*way ahead of everyone else.
Int: Was she happy there?
SG: Oh yeah. She could mindspeak with me. I could feel how happy she was. Or at least how happy she wanted me to think she was. She was read/write.
*In the story, psychics are referred to by what they can do to a mind. Reading minds and changing minds = Read/write.
Int: So you suspected she wasn't happy?
SG: Instinct said she wasn't. Never could put my finger on why.
Int: What about the other kids?
SG: I liked Bobby Drake, he was fun. Hank McCoy was a pompous ass. One of those people who's all happy but their eyes never smile, you know? Worthington was a prick.
Int: What about Scott Summers?
SG: She introduced him to me as her boyfriend. He never said a word. Shy as hell. Don't think he said more than ten words to me ever.
*even in a horrifying, awful universe, Scott Summers is an autistic king.
Int: Were they in love?
SG: I think so. She seemed happiest when he was near.
Int: What about Charles Xavier?
SG: Hardly ever saw him. He would tutor them all individually. She usually had me over on days when he wasn't there.
Int: But when you did see him?
SG: He creeped me out.
Int: Did you tell your parents?
SG: Why? They wouldn't have listened.
Int: When did you stop visiting the School?
SG: After I went away to college.
Int: Mills College?
SG: Yes.
Int: Why so far?
SG: I wanted to go to a women's college. They accepted me on a partial scholarship. Had to work 20 hours a week to get through. It was brutal.
Int: Did you apply to Smith? Weren't there other ones nearer?
SG: Well, yeah, but they didn't give me- Oh shit.
*moment of horrible realization years after the fact.
Int: You wanted to be closer.
SG: That fucker. That absolute fucker. Yeah I wanted to be closer. It didn't even occur to me that he could fuck with that. That fucker must have mind-raped everyone.

When I get gummies from an NJ connection, I’ve felt the effects on a minimum basis. This set was a different “candy” and each dose has made me legitimately high (brought on hunger/thirst/pain relief and sleep). I think I need to be more specific that Apple Rings are far superior to Gummie Bears or Cola Bottles.
I do feel odd having a snack binge at almost 3am, but suppose it makes up for not eating (much) during the day. Lemonade Gatorade and dry Cinnamon Life have sufficed this week.
The Lemonade Gatorade is the one beverage aside from alkaline water that I can drink without the odd metallic aftertaste I get for everything else from the Kisqali.
Speaking of medication, my psychiatrist increased my antidepressant dosage by double. This attempt is to aid with the constant crying whether it’s depression or menopause or Both- this action should have benefits. Or we look at a new medication. Being a smart woman, she did not tell me the name of it.
I paid my back health insurance premiums (that my employer wouldn’t pay) from my Leave of Absence. I also started freaking out about my new plan year and having to re-meet a deductible and Maximum Out of Pocket. I’m hoping my very expensive medication will help in that department. I mean, one month is $13K and specialty pharmacy coverage has been $76K for me just on my medications since diagnosis s. It’s a lot to absorb while also trying not to let Cancer rule my life.
What a laughable comment. And not a helpful one. Yet it’s what people keep telling me to do. My almost every waking thought stems back to the big “C” whether I want it to or not. Here’s some randoms ones from today…
Should I renew my passport
Can I go to Europe again
I can’t get laid off
I need my health insurance
Work is very tiring, I need my healthcare
Did Dr. really admit this will stop working
What comes after this treatment stops working
The old me would love an iced tea
Why do I have an “old” me
Can I really help people by being honest about my experience
I bother the people in my support system, I should dial it back some
I’m only at peace when I sleep
I’m tired of wearing a belt, should I just buy new pants
I suppose those are enough to get the point across. Old me didn’t have it easy, but she didn’t have cancer. How many times does my courage, strength and determination need to be tested by whatever higher power has the script? I’m begging you- give me a break!

Uhhhh in a great turn of events, I woke up with a fever of 100.8 earlier this evening and even though I’m fairly certain it’s unrelated to the virus (or at least I have to try to convince myself of that so I don’t trigger a panic attack) I’m currently in high anxiety mode because my doctor’s office is obviously closed and I’m going to have to wait until morning to figure out what’s going on. Based on my history and the level of isolation I’ve been under, I’m more likely to believe it’s an infection related to my chronic illness but it’s just my luck that I would come down with something now. I literally have not left the house for anything but an appointment with my pain management doctor and another with my psychiatrist in the last two weeks and I already wash my hands and use hand sanitizer constantly for my existing medical issues. I don’t want to gross everyone out with too much detail, but I was born with a birth defect called bladder exstrophy. I do not recommend looking it up if you are squeamish but it does encompass more than just urological issues. Unfortunately, I’m on the more extreme end of the spectrum in terms of how many surgeries and complications I’ve had over my lifetime as a result of this condition. The read more below is pretty much just fever-induced word vomit but I feel the need to purge my anxiety through oversharing so I apologize in advance if this is a bit much.
The foremost expert in my condition (who I had a horrible experience with, fuck Johns Hopkins for so many reasons) and several other urologists have concurred that my medical history is a lesson in what they now know should not be done for bladder exstrophy cases. For the last three years, I’ve been experiencing issues with hydronephrosis due to anatomical abnormalities that cause urinary reflux and subsequently recurrent infections. I have had a Mitrofanoff urostomy since I was 18 months old so it’s a constant battle to prevent infection. Despite the name, the condition encompasses a multitude of issues and I’ve had somewhere in the range of 30+ surgeries including two pelvic osteotomies, a total hip replacement, and many, many abdominal surgeries. I’ve been obsessive about preventing infections even with how depressed I’ve been feeling over the last year but self-catherization over 27 years have taken a toll. I have a history of these infections progressing to kidney infections requiring hospitalization so even if it’s not Covid-19 I am in trying to stave off dread at the prospect of needing medical care for anything right now. I’m just... so tired. It’s hard enough to find reliable medical advice for this condition because many of the experts are pediatricians familiar only with the current standard of care and it’s a toss up as to whether they’ll agree to see a 29 year-old as a patient. The first time I was hospitalized for a kidney infection roughly two years ago I went into pre-septic shock and almost died and this is quite literally the worst possible time for me to need any sort of inpatient treatment. I know I”m getting ahead of myself - I have no issues with my heart or lungs, no cough, and more symptoms that point to an infection than the virus but I feel awful and my anxiety is making everything worse. I was able to get my fever down with medication but my entire body aches, my kidneys hurt, and I have a pounding headache. I keep bursting into tears for no reason and I think the only reason I haven’t had a panic attack is because I feel so emotionally detached and numb. I’ve tried every treatment plan other than the last resort - a major surgery to reposition my ureters that would require weeks of being in the hospital and months of recovery as it’s almost always preformed when people are still children. I didn’t have the best care as a kid for a multitude of reasons (I think I’m oversharing enough without getting into my family issues) and I don’t have a lot of trust in the medical system’s ability to help me at this point. I don’t mean that to disparage medical professionals as the majority have gone above and beyond (with some exceptions... and the exceptions are a nightmare). It just feels endless and futile. I’m going to call my primary care doctor’s office in the morning as I don’t want to be a possible vector if I am positive and I’m hoping it’s just an infection they can treat with antibiotics at home but I guess we’ll see. I doubt I’ll be able to sleep tonight and I know that’s going to make me feel even worse.

Innovative Functional Regenerative Medicine
Innovative Medicine is about restoring your body and mind’s power to heal itself by tapping into your own healing potential. The art of medicine is to understand and to anticipate a dysfunctional organism to help restoring itself to its full potential. There is an inevitable link between physical and mental health. The human body reacts to emotional and mental stress and distress. Innovative medicine recognizes this. A variety of approaches and therapies are incorporated that include psychological and emotional factors. These factors are often – but not always – entangled with a need for lifestyle adjustments or spiritual therapies. Spiritual therapies may include spiritual counseling, meditation, consciousness practices, and more. Often health care professionals don’t give any attention to this factor. Spirituality has such a vast space of manifestation that only a few dare taking the risk to integrate it in their approach of healing. It’s linked to connections within the universe and a moderate understanding of our existence. Innovative Medicine understands the spiritual association when it comes to wellbeing and health. Spirituality is closely related to mental wellbeing. Researchers found that stress and depression are linked to a decreased immune response. These aspects leave the human body susceptible to disease and may be the ultimate cause of one’s illness. Innovative Medicine emphasizes lifestyle changes as a considerable and important part of living a healthy life. It can impact a person’s physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental state. In Innovative Medicine, lifestyle factors aren’t limited to diet and exercise. These factors also involve stress-related mechanisms, relationships, and psychological consequences associated with psycho-emotional therapy methods. A sense of purpose or a person’s general happiness may also contribute to disease or illness. Innovative Medicine takes everything into account. It recognizes that acupuncture, TCM, Reiki, ‘qi’ therapy types, Ayurveda, homeopathy, herbology, emotional techniques, spiritual practices, and therapeutic touch energy therapies benefit certain individuals. It also realizes that great advancements have been made in energy medicine. We live in a global world where the East meet the West and there should not be preferential therapies based on religious, philosophical, cultural or financial preferences. A Doctor works with the noble purpose to help a human being in moments of pain, disability and sickness to the best of his ability with the tools he has to his disposition under whatever circumstances. He will never act to purposely, consciously and willingly harm any human being. There is a very fine silver lining between what is called innovative and functional medicine. But in both we can observe a new born unique approach towards health and wellbeing. A honest whole evaluation that considers the human being as a complex organism where all internal mechanism are connected and function with each other as well with the outer world. It will be very difficult to create health in an ecological sick and destroyed planet. The goal of Functional Medicine is to promote health and vitality in each patient. Practitioners examine each patient’s lifestyle and unique biochemical factors to identify the underlying causes of their disease and find treatments that help return patients to optimal health. Functional Medicine is holistic, one clinician looks at all aspects of the patient and focuses on prevention and health promoting lifestyle changes with sustainable treatments that address the underlying causes of dysfunction. Restoring patients to health Functional Medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease, using a systems-oriented approach and engaging both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. It is an evolution in the practice of medicine that better addresses the healthcare needs of the 21st century.By shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach, Functional Medicine addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms.Functional Medicine practitioners spend time with their patients, listening to their histories and looking at the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex, chronic disease. In this way, Functional Medicine supports the unique expression of health and vitality for each individual. Functional Medicine incorporates the latest in genetic science, systems biology, and understanding of how environmental and lifestyle factors influence the emergence and progression of disease. Functional Medicine enables physicians and other health professionals to practice proactive, predictive, personalized medicine and empowers patients to take an active role in their own health. The most important factors, and the ones we examine first when gathering information about the patient, are the foundational lifestyle factors; sleep, exercise, nutrition, stress levels, relationships, and genetics. These are the roots and soil, which are in turn influenced by specific predisposing factors (antecedents), discrete events (triggers), and ongoing physiological processes (mediators), and may then result in fundamental imbalances at the trunk. These can eventually result in the signs and symptoms that are grouped into a diagnosable constellation that we call disease. Functional Medicine is a systems biology–based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease. Each symptom or differential diagnosis may be one of many contributing to an individual’s illness.A diagnosis can be the result of more than one cause. For example, depression can be caused by many different factors, including inflammation. Likewise, a cause such as inflammation may lead to a number of different diagnoses, including depression. The precise manifestation of each cause depends on the individual’s genes, environment, and lifestyle, and only treatments that address the right cause will have lasting benefit beyond symptom suppression. It is an approach to health care that conceptualizes health and illness as part of a continuum in which all components of the human biological system interact dynamically with the environment, producing patterns and effects that change over time.

The first step in treatment is to get a proper diagnosis. This can be done through a variety of means, including psychological testing, interviews, and questionnaires. Once a diagnosis is made, your counselor will work with you to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your specific needs.
Traditional counseling approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) can be very effective in helping you manage your stress and anxiety. In CBT, the counselor will help you identify and change negative thoughts, behaviors, and feelings that contribute to your stress and anxiety. This approach is especially beneficial for individuals with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or social anxiety disorder (SAD).
In addition to traditional counseling approaches, our center also offers holistic treatment options to help you manage your symptoms. These may include mindfulness-based therapies, physical exercise programs, and nutritional counseling. Psychiatrist for Students in Springfield, NJ
Dr. Padma Palvai has provided exceptional care to patients with a broad range of psychiatric conditions. She completed her residency in adult psychiatry at Mt. Sinai West, a Columbia University-affiliated hospital and continued her training as a child and adolescent psychiatry fellow at Brown University. Dr. Palvai is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and is board certified in both child and adolescent psychiatry and adult psychiatry.
Prior to starting Mindspace Psychiatry, Dr. Palvai was an attending psychiatrist at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ and later, the medical director for Hunterdon Behavioral Health. She also served as a trainer for the post partum depression program for the State of New Jersey.
Later, she worked in India and discovered a medical environment where psychiatric care and resources were extremely limited, especially for children; in fact, she was the only trained child psychiatrist throughout two states there. She served in a leadership position to establish protocols for evidence-based care and set standards for psychiatric care. The experience changed her fundamentally and made her more empathetic to the pain and suffering of her patients.
Dr. Palvai founded Mindspace Psychiatry in 2020 with the goal of providing compassionate, quality care to her patients.
Dr. Palvai’s comprehensive psychiatric services are a vital step in developing appropriate treatment plans and assuring safety for patients and others. Services offered are:
Psychiatric evaluations for adults
Psychiatric evaluations for children and adolescents
School evaluations/Safety evaluations
Medication management

A multidisciplinary team including Psychiatrists/Psychologists, Nurse Practitioners, Psychologists, and Licensed Clinical social workers provides comprehensive assessments and treatments.
Care First works with skilled nursing facilities and assisted living centers throughout the Northeast to provide consistent and high-quality behavioral health services that improve the mental health and well-being of your residents. Our clinicians collaborate closely with your facility's existing services, such as nurses, social services, and Primary Care Physicians, in order to maximize elderly mental health and provide proactive behavioral care.
TMS THERAPY SERVICES
Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), which is characterized by recurrent episodes of depression that are characterized as low mood, low concentration, energy, disturbed sleep and appetite, loss interest in previously pleasurable activities and guilt or shame. Suicide or attempts at suicide can be a result of depression.
PREGNANCY
Although many women avoid antidepressant medication during pregnancy, severe depression symptoms can be dangerous. TMS is an option that appears promising for pregnant women who are not interested in taking antidepressant drugs. Many protocols used only right-sided stimulation with slow frequency stimulation to reduce the number needed to treat an episode. The baby is doing well.
BIPOLAR DISORDER
Bipolar Disorder can be described as a form of Major Depressive Disorder, also known by the name MDD. It may manifest in a withdrawal from friends and family, a loss of interest in normally pleasurable activities and if there is measurable weight gain or sleep disturbance. Bipolar Disorder patients may experience low energy levels and trouble concentrating. These episodes may lead to suicide thoughts or even death, in their most severe forms. Bipolar depression symptoms can be managed with TMS treatment, after control of manic symptoms.
SCHIZOPHRENIA
Schizophrenia affects around 1% of the world's people. Schizophrenia is characterized by auditory hallucinations, delusions and disorganized thoughts and behaviors. It can also affect your ability to participate in social and recreational activities. Most people diagnosed with schizophrenia experience symptoms first in their 20's. Women are more likely to experience symptoms sooner than men. The severity of the condition can vary from mild to severe. Antipsychotic medications are used in conjunction with social and psychological support as the mainstay of current treatment.
Suicide is a frequent complication of schizophrenia and affects approximately 10% of patients. Half of those who abuse substances are affected.
Some symptoms of schizophrenia are treated with TMS successfully. TMS also reduces auditory hallucinations. Other symptoms, such as social withdrawal, have also been reduced.
