"A BILL To regulate assault weapons, to ensure that the right to keep and bear arms is not unlimited, and for other purposes."

You can't make this shit up. This entire bill is an infringement and makes obvious caveats for law enforcement and retired law enforcement to be exempt (of course why wouldn't they)

This bill makes it a crime to knowingly import, sell, manufacture, transfer, or possess a semiautomatic assault weapon (SAW) or large capacity ammunition feeding device (LCAFD).

The prohibition does not apply to a firearm that is (1) manually operated by bolt, pump, lever, or slide action; (2) permanently inoperable; (3) an antique; or (4) a rifle or shotgun specifically identified by make and model.

The bill also exempts from the prohibition the following, with respect to a SAW or LCAFD:

importation, sale, manufacture, transfer, or possession related to certain law enforcement efforts, or authorized tests or experiments;

importation, sale, transfer, or possession related to securing nuclear materials; and

possession by a retired law enforcement officer.

The bill permits continued possession, sale, or transfer of a grandfathered SAW, which must be securely stored. A licensed gun dealer must conduct a background check prior to the sale or transfer of a grandfathered SAW between private parties.

The bill permits continued possession of, but prohibits sale or transfer of, a grandfathered LCAFD.

Newly manufactured LCAFDs must display serial number identification. Newly manufactured SAWs and LCAFDs must display the date of manufacture.

The bill also allows a state or local government to use Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program funds to compensate individuals who surrender a SAW or LCAFD under a buy-back program.

FPC is raising money to fight the bill. And if your the type to call your representative go for it.

Either way, I'm not giving an inch.

I like this video a lot; I find Dan so funny in it. I also love that DNP can use the same idea for a video, but they end up being so different. But I definitely think this is part of the era where Dan was struggling a bit with deciding if he was okay with posting less “serious” content to his channel.

Embaixador nos EUA orientou Brasil a não admitir vitória de Biden

Com um atraso de 38 dias, Jair Bolsonaro reconheceu nesta terça-feira, 15, a vitória de Joe Biden na eleição dos EUA. Foi o último dos países que compõem o G-20 a fazer isso – instruído pelo embaixador Nestor Forster, conforme telegramas a que o Estadão teve acesso com exclusividade. Na contramão de observadores americanos e europeus, o diplomata enviou a Brasília, ao longo da contagem dos votos, descrições baseadas em análises e notícias falsas que questionavam a lisura da disputa vencida por Joe Biden.

Durante a apuração, o presidente brasileiro demonstrou sintonia ao discurso eleitoral de Trump, algo incomum na história da diplomacia nacional, a ponto de não comentar a derrota do aliado. Por sua vez, Forster Junior escreveu mensagens informativas que Bolsonaro queria ouvir. Uma série de cinco telegramas obtidos pelo Estadão, por meio da Lei de Acesso à Informação (LAI), revela a atuação do embaixador na missão de orientar o governo. Nelas, o diplomata repassou, num primeiro momento, análises que enfatizavam a desconfiança no processo eleitoral e, depois, com a confirmação do resultado favorável ao democrata, relatos que apostavam numa virada de mesa nos tribunais.

As mensagens enviadas entre 5 e 12 de novembro pelo embaixador, num total de 22 páginas, destacaram comentários e expectativas de aliados do candidato republicano. A reportagem teve acesso ainda, via LAI, a outros dez telegramas, 54 páginas, enviados em julho e agosto, meses das convenções partidárias. Procurado, o embaixador disse que não comentaria o conteúdo dos seus textos.

Na noite de 6 de novembro, horas antes do anúncio da vitória de Biden, Forster Junior informou a Brasília que “estreitas margens tornam quase certos processos de recontagens e ações judiciais adicionais”. “A campanha do presidente Donald Trump já robustece sua assessoria legal para promover a recontagem nos Estados-chave e ações judiciais relativas a percebidas irregularidades e denúncias de fraude na apuração de votos”, comunicou Forster Junior. No dia seguinte, um sábado, o democrata era declarado vencedor e analistas políticos dos EUA consideravam improvável uma mudança do resultado.

Foster Junior ignorava até mesmo as posições dos corpos diplomáticos em Washington. Nos telegramas obtidos via LAI, o embaixador só relatou a 12 de novembro que o Reino Unido, a Alemanha e a França tinham reconhecido a vitória de Biden. Os governos desses países cumprimentaram o democrata ainda no dia 7. As mensagens não sinalizaram recomendações para Bolsonaro fazer o mesmo. Questionado em entrevistas sobre a postura de outros dirigentes de cumprimentar Biden, o presidente brasileiro rebatia com a pergunta se a disputa tinha acabado.

Só na tarde de terça-feira Bolsonaro cumprimentou Biden pelo Twitter. “Saudações ao presidente, com melhores votos e a esperança de que os EUA sigam sendo ‘a terra dos livres e o lar dos corajosos’”, escreveu na sua rede social. “Estarei pronto a trabalhar com o novo governo e dar continuidade à construção de uma aliança Brasil-EUA, na defesa da soberania, da democracia e da liberdade em todo o mundo, assim como na integração econômico-comercial em benefício dos nossos povos.”

Ainda no dia 6 de novembro, Forster Junior alertou em relação a “diversos relatos” de fraudes em Michigan, Pensilvânia, Arizona e Nevada. Comentaristas políticos dos Estados Unidos acusavam Trump de divulgar fake news e enfatizavam que as ações dele na Justiça seriam derrotadas. Naqueles dias, emissoras de TV chegaram a interromper entrevistas do presidente na Casa Branca para alertar sobre mentiras ditas ao vivo.

Nas mensagens a Brasília, Forster Junior atribuiu as acusações de fraudes sempre a “relatos” que disse ter ouvido. Sem citar fontes, ele registrou, no mesmo dia 6, “tráficos de cédulas eleitorais em pequena escala”, “intimidação e restrição de acesso de observadores eleitorais a locais de contagem de votos” e critérios de segurança “insuficientes” para verificação de assinaturas de eleitores em envelopes com cédulas enviados pelo correio. O diplomata relatou ainda ter ocorrido “correção de cédulas preenchidas incorretamente por eleitores, de modo indevido, por mesários”.

Em entrevista no dia 29 de novembro, no segundo turno das eleições municipais no Brasil, Bolsonaro colocou em dúvida o resultado das urnas nos Estados Unidos e disse ter “informações” seguras de que houve fraude no pleito. “A imprensa não divulga, mas eu tenho minhas informações, não adianta falar para vocês que vocês não vão divulgar, que realmente teve muita fraude lá. Teve, isso ninguém discute”, afirmou.

O embaixador brasileiro informou a Brasília, no dia 10, que Trump permanecia firme no propósito de rejeitar o resultado das urnas, ignorando mais uma vez que os analistas davam como certo um fracasso do republicano em levar o caso à Justiça. “Na tarde de hoje (10/11), o secretário de Estado Mike Pompeo afirmou, em resposta a pergunta de jornalista, que o Departamento de Estado estaria preparado para uma “suave transição para uma segunda administração Trump”.

Ao citar o advogado pessoal de Trump, o ex-prefeito de Nova York Rudolph Giuliani, o embaixador brasileiro afirmou, em outro telegrama, que a primeira ação judicial de “escopo abrangente” havia sido protocolada junto à corte federal na Pensilvânia. “Na ação, os advogados do presidente argumentam que o sistema eleitoral do Estado criara um ‘sistema de dois trilhos de votação’, em que eleitores foram tratados de maneira distinta: os votos depositados pessoalmente teriam sido submetidos a critérios de transparência e verificação, ao passo que ‘a massa de votos’ enviada pelo correio estaria ‘envolta em obscuridade’” destacou.

Segundo Forster, os “votos presenciais” teriam sido submetidos à rigorosa verificação de assinaturas e observação eleitoral, o que não teria ocorrido no caso de votos recebidos pelos correios. “Entre as irregularidades, é mencionado o acesso insuficiente de observadores eleitorais ao processo de verificação, legitimação e contagem dos votos pelo correio. Tais falhas teriam, segundo os autores, violado a ‘cláusula constitucional de proteção igualitária’”.

O telegrama reforça que o advogado de Trump solicitou ao juiz federal, “à luz das alegadas irregularidades”, liminar para impedir que Biden fosse considerado vencedor das eleições no Estado e a desconsideração de votos pelo correio enviados pelos condados da Filadélfia e de Allegheny. “Ambos os condados, de esmagadora maioria democrata, teriam processado mais de 600 mil votos recebidos pelo correio”.

Sobre a falta de provas sobre as supostas irregularidades, o embaixador disse que elas não foram apresentadas, pelos advogados de Trump, “nesse primeiro momento”. “Mas foram levadas ao conhecimento do juízo notícias veiculadas na imprensa e declarações de observadores eleitorais republicanos. Se o juiz do caso acatar o pedido de liminar republicano, será indício de abertura do juízo para análise mais detida de provas e do eventual êxito do processo”.

Proximidade com Bolsonaro

O diplomata Nestor José Forster Junior assumiu a embaixada brasileira em Washington, em novembro do ano passado, após tentativa frustrada do Palácio do Planalto de colocar na cadeira o deputado Eduardo Bolsonaro (PSL-SP). O presidente Jair Bolsonaro chegou a obter o aval do governo americano, mas enfrentou dificuldades políticas internas para garantir a aprovação do nome do filho no Senado. Forster é um conservador e entusiasta da agenda de costumes do governo. Foi chefe de política comercial e do setor financeiro e já esteve à frente dos consulados de Nova York e de Hartford, em Connecticut. De 2017 até assumir a vaga de embaixador, ficou responsável pela área de diplomacia pública, administração e temas migratórios.

O diplomata se aproximou da família Bolsonaro por meio do guru do bolsonarismo, Olavo de Carvalho, com quem mantém amizade. O próprio Forster levou o hoje chanceler, Ernesto Araújo, para conhecer Olavo, que vive na Virgínia. Em março de 2019, quando Bolsonaro esteve em Washington, o então ministro-conselheiro organizou o jantar com representantes da direita americana, como o ex-estrategista de Trump, Steve Bannon, e Olavo de Carvalho.
