ELLO HELLO HELLO EVERYONE, TIS I! Nu!!!
Upon being yelled at by Delta and other researchers that won't be named, I decided to make another recipe! This one does NOT contain entities, don't worry!
Now as a start we need the ingredients! And those would be pseudograss (from farplains), water 2 (anywhere is good aslong as its not from the ocean), Sheithan fruit and meleqie fruits (from powerplant).
After you got all the ingredients, pour the water 2 in a bowl alongside the pseudograss. Let it soak for about 20 minutes! After that wash the fruits and slice them in the bowl alongside the pseudograss and water 2! Let the sliced fruits soak in there for 20 minutes (make sure the pseudograss is still in the bowl). After time is up drain the water 2 and mix the pseudoflora! After that its done!
Your Nu original pseudosalad is complete! The food will be a bit alcoholic and a bit spicy but its better than eating them raw!
See you next time everyone!

Notes: The Private Life of Objects
In college, I wrote an absolutely insane essay about The Street of Crocodiles by Bruno Schulz (and some other texts) and Jewish masculinity. Specifically it hinged on Jacob, the protagonist’s mad father, and his identification with objects. I’m putting together a project about some of these ideas- A seed that started in Thomas Mann’s The Magic Mountain with his postulation of life itself as a corruption of matter.
The Street of Crocodiles, Bruno Schulz
“There is no dead matter,” He says, “lifelessness is only a disguise behind which hide unknown forms of life... even if the classical methods o creation should prove inaccessible forevermore, there still remain some illegal methods, an infinity of heretical and criminal methods .... (59-60)
“We shall give priority to trash. We are simply entranced and enchanted by the cheapness, shabbiness, and inferiority of material... Can you understand ... the deep meaning of the weakness, that... Demiurge, that great master and artist, made matter invisible, made it disappear under the surface of life. We, on the contrary, love its creaking, its resistance, its clumsiness.” (62)
Pseudoflora and pseudofauna, or objects that act like living things (67)
Dead Collections, Isaac Fellman
“A thing is just a slow event.” (1) More here as well?
“The room felt alive, and the life felt as if it were OF my life.” (169)
“All around me was the voluptuous rot of dead collections... you could sense that the information itself had cracked open and flowed away, and what it left behind had nothing to hold it together. Every object in the world is formed of molecules that have come together by human intention, and now the intention was gone, and the objects were losing their shape.” (160) more here about abandoned buildings?
#diary#the street of crocodiles#dead collections#bruno schulz#gonna start posting my random essay/art ideas here and hopefully at some point i'll do something with em#next idea is to actually read shulz's other book#the 3am urge to post your reading notes

I’ll never get over how gorgeous and just genuinely fun to get lost in the dungeons of the Etrian Odyssey series have been.
I adore the use of flower imagery in a diverse range of environments; even barren wastelands have some signs of plantlife, even if it’s dead plantlife, and environments totally inhospitable to plantlife have some kind of pseudoflora, and I love how subtle difference in those environmental details were actually used to mark things like secret passages. And o, the attention to light, peaking thru canopies and water and glass and cracks in the wall... and how everything just glows~!
I love how the first three vertical labyrinths all had their own internal themes of progression: climates getting warmer as you go deeper, until you reach the warm beating heart of the labyrinth; seasons passing, the dungeon dying and being reborn from winter to spring, as you climb higher until you breach the changeless, Eden-like Forbidden Wood, atop a flying castle (playing with themes taken from Daoist, Wuxing/”5 phases” theory); and descending thru the water’s depths, ocean floor, thermal vents, and ancient sunken abyss... It all gives a sense of distinct escalation --of impending doom, like a teetering tower, growing unsteadier still with every move toward progress.
And although it’s a bigger subject all its own, I’ll never get over how well thought out and just meticulously placed all the enemies are in their habitats and the clever details of how they interact with their environment and their cohabitants; from tree monsters throwing acorn monsters, to monsters eating one another for health, to FOE with unique movement styles like flying or swimming across gaps impassable by the player. It’s not just good game-logic, it’s good world building and reinforcement. It’s not about piling on history or exposition, but in reinforcing the structural integrity of the world-- everywhere you look the world adhere’s to its own logic, and it is sturdy! It’s exactly the kind of world that you can get happily lost in.

I've eaten algae before I do not fear pseudoflora.
OK big guy, then eat a carolina pepper so you can be prepared for how some of them taste. I needed ALOT of milk, good think I'm not lactose intolerant!

So uh. Let us say, hypothetically, someone accidentally clipped into the Far Zone. Let us say, for further discussion, hypothetically, that this person also drank 3.5 standard liters of Water2 and around .2 liters of every pseudoflora she could find before she suddenly clipped back home. What, in this. Very. Theoretical. Scenario should this person do? Hypothetically? This is urgent btw
WELL!!!! For one I'd need to know what exactly you ate since alot of them have different effects (affects?). For the water 2 you might be really drunk for a LOOOOOOOONG while, I guess enjoy it while it lasts. As for the pseudoflora, I'd need to know what you ate exactly to say anything. But I'd say if you love your organs, avoid eating capsiacin and touching Copper! Also don't eat dirt, don't know why you would but its always good to warn!

Are there any psudoflora that have biologically transformative properties?
I have found SOME pseudoflora that can turn you purple for a while, like your WHOLE body! Not just skin! Skin, hair, nails, teeth even!
I dubbed it the purple banana because it looked like one! It's actually a root though, so don't go looking fo it!

Based on what happens when pseudofluid is consumed, I am assuming that eating pseudoflora is also inadvisable for human consumption.
That is correct. Pseudoflora is structurally more similar to algae than plants and are structurally dissimilar to Earth flora. Many pseudoflora have effects when consumed similarly to water 2 or is potentially harmful.

Do all pseudofluids share the same properties? Are some more viscous than others? Can a pseudofluid be non-newtonian? Have you tried watering an Earth plant with pseudofluid?
Sorry for the rapid fire questions, but I find the whole project very interesting. You're doing good work out there.
(This is not an invitation to be kidnapped for the internship program.)
Not exactly no!! We have found some pseudofluids that straight up don't follow gravity, it was WILD!!! But I'd have to ask others about the non-newtonian thingy, I'm not a physicist. As for the watering water 2 to plants, I've been watering some dandelions as a test but nothing has changed so far! Something could happen but I hope it doesn't become a monster or something! that would NOT be fun!

A group of newly discovered entities in a newly discovered area. The entities remain proximal to each other while drifting through interiors. Despite their resemblance to fish, they do not seem to use their fin-like appendages to move. They do not interact with water 2 nor the pseudoflora and pseudocoral residing in it.
Designed by nightmarearia.

A transitional area between Brutalia and the Greenhouses has been discovered. The newly found entity here traverses the terrain with ease, somehow keeping pseudoflora out of its long tail. It is theorized that it may be related to Princes.

Does Golbo have any kind of effect on the flora or pseudoflora around it? Also, in the Golbo care video, the screen cuts to static momentarily as the incision is made to take a sample. Was that an editorial choice, or does Golbo disrupt recording devices when harmed or otherwise in distress?
Golbo has no know effects on true flora around it. However, pseudoflora had a tendency to have a "bed" for Golbo to lay in. It is unknown whether or not this has been caused by the amount of time Golbo lay there.
The choice to remove the footage of Golbo's incision was not my choice and made by another researcher. The decision was caused by "emotional damage."

i know a lot of people have talked about the far planes entities, but will there ever be an explanation (or run down) encompassing all the different places of the far planes? or, because this is dedicated to zooliminology, will this only encompass the entities? i am simply intrigued by the places in which all these creatures reside, and would love to learn more
A list of all known areas at the time has been posted here before, but a post of that manner can be reapeated due to new discoveries.
Here is an updated list of all known areas:
The Far Plains The first area discovered by the Zooliminology Project, and usually the initial area you can clip into. Primarily is comprised of vast, open, green planes and rolling knolls that sometimes sport fences. The sky projects the impression of being around midday and usually have large clouds. The grass found here is not confirmed to be related to real-world poaceae. Large black monoliths known as "gateways" can be found scarcely scattered throughout the area. Home to striders, kytes and maax.
Brutalia A large, geometric area of concrete that sprouts in random directions and does not truly superficially resemble any real-world architecture. The concrete gives way to many interiors and corridors that make it easy to get lost or separated from groups. The sky seems to be in a perpetual state of sunset. The only entities recorded here are longlegs.
Winter An exterior part of the Far Plane that is characterized by a constant state of snow and darkness. This area seems to closely resemble a real-world landscape, but the pseudofloran life here does not seem to grow or decay. The sky routinely shifts between being in either sunset or sunrise to being fully night. The area is covered in a constant mist that obscures faraway landmarks. This area houses fogwalkers and light mimics.
The Rain Lot An exterior area of the Far Plane is categorized by perpetual darkness and constant rain. The area, unlike Winter or the Far Plains, is almost completely flat, leading to light flooding in many areas. Natural light sources include clusters of floodlights. The only entities recorded here are ghosts.
Gamezone A dark interior area characterized by its resemblance to soft play areas and arcades. It is filled with ball pits, tubes, slides, non-functional arcade machines and nets. Rooms in this area tend to be very large with high ceilings. Tubes and other climbable areas in soft play areas can sprawl out by a large magnitude and become difficult to traverse. Sockwyrms are native to this area.
Greenhouses A purely interior part of the Far Plane that houses an abundance of pseudoflora. This area typically has an abundance of natural light sources compared to other interior areas. The pseudoflora inside of this area can vary, along with the style and size of rooms. Entities found here are golbos, princes and queens.
Mariana A dimly lit area characterized by its resemblance to an aquarium. Mariana is perpetually in dark, blue lighting and reflective surfaces caused by large, empty tanks of pseudofluid that hold nothing but pseudoflora. These large containers of water can be open to its surroundings or along walls and thus inaccessible. This area is home to miish, night skies, and spumes.
Miscellaneous Other areas of the Far Plane exist, mostly including interiors, but have either not been explored enough to find their true scope or have not been confirmed to be their own area rather than a subarea of a larger expanse. These places are home to various other entities that have been recorded in prior photographs. Please note that these areas are categorized by researchers and are not a full list nor is it a hard-fast rule. Many areas blur into each other due to the nature of the Far Plane and categorizing areas is done for the purpose of ease of cataloging explored areas and found entities.

Why does Nu still work at your organization?
My question exactly. They are our only botanist and specialist in pseudoflora.

Is there really nobody else that would be interested in researching pseudoflora? Or do you keep Nu for...other reasons, as well?
I am not aware what you mean by "other reasons" and I do not enjoy the way that it is phrased.
No, there is not. The Zooliminology Project team is small and most others have their own specializations.

Since your research team seems to be focused on the fauna and entities of the Far Plane, ive noticed a significant lack of research pertaining to the pseudoflora.
Another thing that seems under-researched is the perpetual rain that occurs in Rain Lot, and the chemical make up of said rain.
I point this out because I am interested in getting my hands on some farplanar soil, various pseudoflora, and a few gallons of the Far Plane "water." If this is possible, I could provide useful findings that would complement the research your team is already doing.
I do understand, however, that it is unlikely that I will be able to get my hands on anything originating from the Far Plane, let alone live pseudofauna.
Our team has a specialist in botany who is researching Pseudoflora. However, if they got fired it would only be a small price to pay. Pseudoflora apparently has anatomy more similar to algae than true plants.
Rain in the Rain Lot is pseudofluid, similarly to all other "water" sources in the Far Plane.
Pseudofluid is not recommended to take outside of the Far Plane and pseudoflora extraction has been unsuccessful this far. Because of this, you will need to conduct your research inside of the Far Plane itself with supervision. Unlike certain researchers.
