Who's scarier, Ren or Nora?
Yang: It's gotta be Nora Rubes.
Ruby: Nuh, uh! It's Ren, silent but deadly trope?
Yang: That's a biased opinion and you know it!
Ruby: Just because we have one of those on our team doesn't mean it's biased! It's common knowledge!
Yang: Oh my- wait is that Jaune? Let's go ask him.
Ruby: Yea, then you'll see how wrong you are!
Yang: Keep dreaming lil sis.
Jaune is walking until he is suddenly pushed against a wall and pinned, he was gonna shake his aggressors off him till he realizes who they were.
Jaune: Uhm...whatever I did was probably a dare!
Ruby: Not what we're here for Jaune, we need to settle something and you're our prime source for the answer!
Jaune, looking at Yang: That would be...?
Yang: Who's more scarier, Ren or Nora?
Jaune: Oh, well let me go first.
Yang and Ruby let go of Jaune as he stretches out his limbs before leaning back on the wall.
Jaune: Okay, to answer this I need something more than who's scarier. Give me a scenario.
Yang: When we're on missions! Have you seen Nora mess up those Grimms last time? I'm pretty sure some we're running away from her actually.
Ruby: So? Ren is also quite lethal too! One minute he's firing precise shots at them and the next he's cutting them up like sushi!
Jaune: Well, I have to side with Yang here. Nora is more gruesome than Ren there.
Yang: HA!
Ruby: Aw...
Jaune: However...Ren is still more scary in general.
Yang: What?! How?
Ruby: :O
Jaune: Only for one incident...
Yang: And what might that be?
Ruby: Yeah tell us!
Jaune: Well...

Nora is skipping along the hallways of beacon before being stopped by someone
Random student: Hey you're Nora, right? Fancy work you did with that weapon of yours!
Nora: Oh, thanks! You're too kind.
R.S.: Say, how's about we hang out from time to time? I'd like to spar with you.
Nora: Oh no thanks, I already have a sparring partner and I'm on the track to meet him actually-
The random student then grabs Nora's hand by surprise.
R.S.: Well, how about we go to my dorm then~?
Nora: Wait- what?! I don't really, uh...
R.S.: Aw cmon, we'll have lots of- *thunk, thunk*
The random student feels something metallic behind his head and freezes in place, not wanting to turn around and see what it may be.
Ren: She said, she doesn't want to.
Nora: Renny?
R.S.: Easy bro...it was just a suggestion.
Ren: Then me disposing of your life is an answer.
R.S.: You- You won't get away with this!
Ren: I can if you can't recognize me.
R.S.: Why you...
The random student tries to take a swing at Ren, only swinging at air before he feels a sharp object on the back of his neck, barely pricking its way through his skin layer.
Ren: When I count to ten, you'll run. 1...
The random student was already running down the hallways, not looking back at all. Ren then turns towards Nora.
Ren: Uhm...sorry about that?
Nora, who's flustered and looking at Ren in a whole new light: D-Don't worry about it Renny...how about we skip training actually?
Ren: Are you sure?
Nora: I'd let pancakes burn in a fire right now just to be in a bed with you right now!
Ren: O-Oh....okay, lead the- WOAH!
Ren is picked up by the muscle shortie and carried all the way to their dorm room, leaving a bewildered Jaune Arc who was watching the whole scenario from the corner.
Jaune...what the fu-

Ruby:
Jaune: So yeah. Ren is way scarier...when it comes to Nora. Which is a lot.
Yang: That was...not what I was expecting...
Ruby: That is...super hot~.
Yang: RUBY! That is the last time you read one of Blake's book.

âł for Ren
For every ââłâ I receive, my muse will openly talk about a bit of their backstory.
How to tell this story without it reflecting badly on his family. He didn't blame them for it, obviously, but others may... He should just rip the bandaid off, everyone else had mentioned their birthdays at young ages and they'd all turned to him next. Nora's hand finds one of his and he sighs a bit, looking down at Nora's painted nails and his own wicked claws. They accepted him despite what he was. It was okay to share the story. Just rip the bandage off.
"My fifth birthday was spent in the house with mother and father. A lot of grimmlings... go feral when they're around five because they'd been chased out of their homes with their parents, or other reasons."
Nora's hand squeezes his, and he can see her give him a gentle smile to continue. With a steadying breath, he does.
"Mother made me a little buttercake to celebrate, and told me how much she loved me. How much they'd always love me. I... didn't understand at the time, you know? But... they were waiting to see if I lost it like others did."
"I didn't, obviously. But that memory lingers. The same when I was six, but... I understood, then. Every birthday after though was normal. They figured I was out of the woods, so to speak."
There are several long, pointed minutes of silence, laden with the realization that Ren's birthday had sucked and been likely just a bit traumatic before Nora adds her own story.
"I never had a fifth birthday, I think. So I've got ya beat there!"

Ë Ęđ„ Ę âMY BOYFRIEND IS GONNA KICK YOUR ASS !â
WINDBREAKER BOYS PROTECTING YOU FROM PERVS. ft. kaji ren, togame jo, umemiya hajime, sakura haruka, hayato suo, toma hiragi, kiryuu mitsuki, & kyotaro sugishita x f!reader
sfw. wc: 2.6K. oh how iâve been wanting to write this since i finished the manga! but individual warnings are below <3
KAJI REN. referred to as she/her, âmy girl,â comments about your outfit
âMy boyfriendâs real scary yâknow.â Your voice falters a bit as you take another step back, hands coming up defensively. âAnd heâll be here any moment.â
Itâs a lie that you hope sounds convincingâ because Kaji coming to save you today may be nothing more than a desperate wish of yours. How would he even find you in a place like this? Youâre not sure exactly how much time has passed since youâve started running, but youâre certain that by now, you and Kaji should have already been inside the bakery, finally getting to taste test the new fruit pastries youâd been dying to get your hands on.
It started off as just a loud whistle your direction, then led to an uncomfortable conversation about how youâre not interestedâ and that you have a boyfriend. One thing led to another, and somehow youâve ended up here, out of breath from speed walking and completely lostâ and to top it off, the only person near you is the one youâve been running so desperately from.
You wish Kaji was here already.
âOh yeah?â The man in front of you takes a step towards you, lips contorting into a sick grin when he sees your hands trembling. âI don't see him.â
Your lips tremble a bit when he reaches you, towering over you with ease. âDonât you dare touch me.â You warn, âMy boyfriend will beat your aââ you yelp as youâre suddenly pulled to the side, stumbling into someoneâs chest as they pull you flush against their front.
The familiar scent of candy melts away your fear in a split second.
âKaji!â
You can tell when you glance at him just once that he isnât happy. His forehead is damp with sweat, and he looks disheveled, chest rising up and down with labored breathsâ he must have been running around trying to find you this entire time.
Your boyfriend clicks his tongue in annoyance, eyes narrowing as he sizes up the man in front of him. âProblem?â
He rips off his headphones, letting them hang around his neck as the man feigns an apology, unapologetic eyes looming over your figure again seconds later. âBut yâknow man, you should be keeping a closer eye on your girl,â he points to you with a smug smile, âshe was practically begging for me to say something with the way sheâs dressed.â
âI wasnât!â You protest, face burning as you tug on renâs coat. You thought your outfit was cuteâ and definitely not anything crazyâ you double checked. You really did. But heâs pointing at you now, rambling on about how you wanted thisâ and you canât help the way tears start to blur your vision.
âHuh?â Kaji snarls, head tilting to leer at the man. The arm around your waist pulls you tighter against his chest, and you hear the angry thumping of his heart. âWhat'd you say?â
âOkay, okay, Iâm leaving now.â The man chuckles in defeat. âI was just joking. Wasnât gonna actually do something to your girl.â he waves him off. âYou should lighten upââ
He chokes when Kaji grabs a fistful of his shirt, pulling him off balance before knocking him backwards, your pursuer falling roughly onto the floor as he winces in pain. âThen get outta here already.â Kaji glares, a stark contrast to the gentle way his hand is pressing against your lower back to guide you away.
âAnd donât let me catch you looking at my girl again.â
TOGAME JO. referred to as she/her, âmy girl,â you wear his jacket
Togame gives you a sleepy smile as he watches you from Minisoâs entrance, excitedly sorting through the newly restocked blind boxes. He was resting his back against the wall behind him when he caught his first glimpse of that guy.
Heâs wearing a dark hoodie, head turning back to shamelessly stare your direction as he passes by slowly. Itâs enough to get togame back up on his feet immediately, quickly heading your way just as the man reaches to get a feel of your thighsâ
âHow shameless.â Togame laughs, big hand squeezing painfully into his wrist. âTryna bother my girl?â
In any other situation, Togame would chuckle at your obliviousness, your headphones cancelling out any noise as your eye catches the cinnamoroll section, letting out an excited gasp as you head that way. You really had no idea.
âM-my bad man.â He stutters, ripping his arm from Togameâs grasp. âJust thought she was my sisterâ was just gonna tap on her back to grab her attention.â
Togame raises an eyebrow at the lazy excuse, leaning down until the man takes a nervous step back, eyes darting to the side to avoid Togameâs glare. âSister? Thatâs my Shishitoren jacket she has on, no?â
The man feels heavy beads of sweat roll down his face when Togameâs hands curl into clenched fists. âYou mean to tell me your lil sis is from Shishitoren?â
âI said it was my bad,â he repeats, chuckling nervously. âIt wonât happen again okay? I wonât bother her again.â
Togameâs hands return to his pockets. âWonât let you off so easy next time,â his voice is low as he steps aside to let him off, âso youâd better keep your distance.â
UMEMIYA HAJIME. referred to as she/her, âyour girlâ
Umemiya instinctively perks up when he hears two voices behind him, momentarily tuning out your gushing about how cute the little plant kits at barnes and noble are.
ââŠ.She's probably taken.â
âIs that her boyfriend behind her? Think she's talking to him.â
There's a chuckle between them. âDoesnât matter. Go tell her what you just said to me when she's alone.â
âWhat?â The man laughs. âAsk her if i can grab a handful of that ass?â
More laughter.
Umemiyaâs jaw clenches, eyes darting back at you in a flash, and heâs relieved when he sees youâre still gushing about the flower kitsâ completely oblivious to the two men just beyond this aisle. Heâs by your side in an instant, arms wrapping around your waist as he rests his chin on your shoulder.
âOh.â You turn to press a quick kiss against his temple, smiling when he melts into your touch. âHi, Haji. Did you find a book?â
âNothing here.â He sighs dramatically, his embrace around your middle tightening just enough for you to barely notice. âBut we can grab some of those flower kits.â
âReally?â
âOf courseââ
âHey.â A familiar voice interrupts him with a stifled laugh, followed by a tap on his shoulder. With the roughness, itâs more like a jabâ but he lets that slide.
âAhâ your friend, Haji.â Your voice comes off as a mix between a question and a statement.
âHey, my friend has something to ask your girl.â
Umemiyaâs jaw clenches again, and your eyes widen a bit at the sudden change in the atmosphere. The first friendâs hand is swat off of his shoulder in a split second, Umemiya straightening back up to look back at them.
Their first thought is that heâs a lot taller than they had pictured. A lot more muscular tooâ and they take note of the way his muscles bulge against the fabric of his shirt. âWhat, you have business with her?â
They flinch at the tone.
âAhâ sorry.â The second friend stutters. âWe got the wrong person.â
SAKURA HARUKA.
âAhâ what happened?â Your hands delicately cup Sakuraâs face, ignoring the way his cheeks instantly turn into a deep shade of scarlet. âN-nothing happened!â He weakly swats at your hand, a futile attempt to dissipate the heat spreading through the tips of his ears.
âI was only in the bathroom for five minutes.â You laugh. âHowâd you manage to get into a fight so fast?â
He stiffens when your arms come to wrap around his bicep, resuming your ramble about some recipe you wanted to try tonight. MacaronsâŠor something. He doesnât pay much attention, because he knows whatever you end up making will be good anyway.
ââAre you listening, Sakura?â
The clueless look he gives you confirms it. âSo you werenât. I had a feelingâ but itâs okay.â You giggle. âBut you didnât answer my question from earlier either. Howâd you get into a fight?â
His eyebrows furrow deeply as he decides whether or not he should tell you. âThey wereâŠ.â he clicks his tongue angrily, âthey were talking about you when you walked by.â
You can feel his muscles tense as he deepens his scowl, still trying to fight off the blush plastered across his face. âI just gave âem what they deserved.â
HAYATO SUO. referred to as she/her, mentions of how youâre dressed
âWhat a bitch. She was totally asking for it.â
I knowâ dressed like a whore.â
Suo stands up from the bench outside your local convenience store, hands dusting off the dirt on his pants. You had asked him to wait outside earlier because âyou wanted to grab him a super delicious snack that he would most definitely love.â
He had a feeling the two dirty men who entered the store minutes later were bad news, so he was already on high alert before listening in.
âThat whoreâ you mean my girlfriend?â Suoâs voice comes out calm, a stark contrast to the sickening anger and pressure he feels building up inside his chest.
âHuhâoh. Yeah.â One of them chuckles, jutting their thumb at the entrance. âThat bitch inside your girl? You let her prance around with her tits hanging out for everyone to see?â
He's calm and composed as they size him up, their chins tilting up to look down at him. âShe's pretty, isn't she?â and Suo fails to stifle the chuckle that escapes his lips. âDid she reject you too harshly for your liking?â
One of them balls his fists, muttering profanities under his breath as he leans closer to him. âNow how'd you know that? You should really teach that bitch some fucking manners.â He reaches forward to grab Suo by the collar, eyes blinking in confusion when he finds himself spun behind Suo seconds later, feet struggling to find their balance.
ââThe fuck did you do?â
âItâs a bad habit of hers,â Suo continues. âI understand it though, not wanting to be around a pathetic thing like you.â The edges of his lips tug into a faint smile.
The other manâs eyebrows twitch, spitting empty threats as he he throws a wide swing, only to find himself reduced to his knees seconds later. âT-the fuck...â he grumbles to himselfâ he could have sworn he could practically see his fist connect. What happened?
âYou'd be better off looking for someone to protect yourself the way I do for her.â His words are mocking as he heads towards the storeâs entrance. âAndâ it'd be really unfortunate if i see something like this happen again.â
TOMA HIRAGI.
âH-Hiragi? What are you doing?â
Your lips are pressed in a nervous line as your hands come to shyly rest on his chest, sucking in a breath when his arms come to roughly cage you against the trainâs walls, strong body towering just over yours.
âDo youâŠneed more space?â You whisper, heart racing at the proximity. You can smell his cologne so well at this distance.
Hiragi simply shakes his head, distracted gaze shifting between you and something behind him every few seconds. âItâs okay.â
He swears his stomach isn't churning like this without good reason. Itâs not just a coincidence that the same person who he had noticed eyeing you at the boba shop had gotten onto the same train. He could let it go at that, but the same man had been slowly worming his way through the crowd to get closer to the two of you. And while heâs not certain, he thought he saw the man take out his phone and try and angle it beneath you, but not before jolting and dropping his phone onto the floor when Hiragi's hands abruptly slammed against the wall beside you.
The train suddenly rocks, sliding his phone to the other side of the train, and youâre knocked off balance, face slamming against Hiragi's chest. âS-sorry!â
âItâs okay.â He gives you a smile, hand coming to cradle the back of your head and pull you closer. âYou okay?â
âIâm okay...â you mumble, rubbing the bridge of your nose. âYour chest is hard.â
He responds with a light chuckle. Itâll be okay like this, he thinks. Heâll protect you with his body for now, and figure out what to do with that guy later.
KIRYU MITSUKI. âpretty thingâ
âItâs no wonder she doesn't like you,â Kiryu sighs. âYou're gross.â
Your mouth is ajar as you stare at the state of the man who was harassing you only moments ago, his unconscious body resting neatly against the wall after Kiryu had dragged him there.
âSorry you had to watch that, pretty thing.â His hand comes to gently interlace with yours. âBut he didn't leave me with much of a choice, did he?â
âItâs okay.â Your voice drops to a whisper. âThat was so cool of you.â
His eyes widen a bit before his lips curl into a small smile. âOh? You think so?â
âMhm. I don't know what wouldâve happened to me if you were there...â your voice trails off a bit.
You really don't know what would have happened, because it's not like you know how to fight or anything. Getting hit on is enough to make you nervous, so a pushy guy like that was too muchâ you froze up as soon as he started spitting threats after you expressed your disinterest.
Thereâs a light squeeze around your hands, and youâre reminded of this gentle warmth that Kiryu always brings with him. âDon't worry about it.â He gives you a small smile. âIâll just need to accompany you more often when you go out. Itâs no problem.â
KYOTARO SUGISHITA.
âYouâre like a bodyguard, Kyo.â
You giggle at the huff beside you. âHowâd you even react that fast?â
It all happened within a second. You were walking beside him, stopped for a brief second to bend down and peer at the plushies lining the shop window, not noticing the man approaching youâ his grimy fingers coming to take a peek under your skirt. Before you had even registered the feeling of the cloth moving, there was a loud crack, and the man was on the floor, groaning with his hands covering his bloodied face and a very angry Sugishita on top of him.
âHe made me angry.â
Of course he would be. And if you werenât with your boyfriend, it would be an entirely different story. Youâd bring along your assortment of self defense items, ranging from pepper sprays to taser lipsticksâ and youâd be a thousand times more cautious. Pay extra close attention to everything around you.
With Sugishita, however, itâs different. You think of it as being able to turn off your brain⊠or something like that. Whatever lets you truly relax and enjoy your time with him, and itâs always okay because your boyfriend is there to protect you. âWell, donât be so mad, cutie.â You smile, your fingers reaching to interlace with his as he tenses at the nickname.
âEverything is okayâ Iâm okay. Iâll even get us smoothies to help lighten the mood.â
He lets you drag him to your favorite smoothie shop in silenceâ still fuming about the incident. He wonders why youâre not shaken up. Ifnhe had been one second later, that piece of shit would have lifted up your skirt. In public. His jaw clenches at the thought, angry eyes darting at any anyone who dares look your direction.
âWhyâreâŠâ his voice trails off, remembering what Umemiya said about toning down his choice of words around others. âWhyâre you so happy?â
âHmm? Iâm not too worried.â You laugh. âYouâre my bodyguard right? Nothing will happen if youâre here.â

Satoru Gojo
[Chapter 17] Father and Son
â Previous Chapter - Story Masterlist - Next Chapter â
Pairing: Satoru Gojo x f!Reader
Discord +18 - Twitter - Ko-Fi
Satoru tries to make up for the past four years of Renâs life in a matter of weeks. His focus drastically changes, from his work to his son. He ignores the matter of so many people knowing before him, he avoids his mother and his so-called friends. His main and only priority is his son.
You both wish you could say that your relationship has gotten better, but you donât really speak to each other unless itâs about the son you share. Youâre hopeless that itâll progress past what you have. Neither of you have the courage to bring up the situation, either way, your attention should be on Ren.Â
Ren is finally meeting the man that heâs been dreaming of, and heâs getting to know his father after four years. Youâre mostly excited for your son, while also regretting hiding it when you had the chance to tell him. Your relationship is the last thing on your mindâ Itâs certainly the last thing in Satoruâs mind.
He visits daily, bearing many gifts for his son. Satoru has become a regular at the toy store, buying something each day for his son, something that he thinks Ren would like. He hopes that material stuff will make up for the time wasted. Sometimes he brings some candy, but he doesnât do it often. Satoru is still his father, he canât just spoil him rotten, he also has to care for Renâs wellbeing. Heâs slowly growing accustomed to becoming a parent.
âWhatâs this, Ren?â Satoru holds up a cute white cat plush, one that Satoru always finds on the bed. He wonders if thatâs the toy his son has had ever since he was a baby, he guesses it is since Satoru feels like heâs seen it in the background of a picture before.
âItâs whiskers.â Ren answers, taking the plush from his father and putting it back on the bed. Thatâs before he turns to other matters. Ren doesnât mind sharing his toys (because youâve been the one raising him), but whiskers is someone that Ren doesnât like anyone touching. Anyone and anything can get the toy dirty, and when that happens, you refuse to let the toy on the bed, at least not before you wash it and get it clean again.
Satoru doesnât bother to ask if thatâs the plush that he sleeps with, because thatâs most certainly a yes. Ren wants to talk about other important matters though so Satoru gives his undivided attention to his son. Ren then asks, âAre you sleeping over?â
âUhm⊠No.â Satoru answers. You most certainly wouldnât want that. Plus, Satoru has a wife at home who has her suspicions that something is going on. He doubts that sheâll care too much, but he wants to keep Ren protected from the world. If Sayo finds out, so does her family, and if her family knows, the whole world will know. âBut Iâll stay until you fall asleep, Ren.â
âI want you to stay.â Ren sticks out his bottom lip, obviously disappointed that his father isnât staying for the night. You let him on your bed all the time and you sleep together, why canât he do the same thing with his father? Satoru canât help but feel bad, so he thinks of how to respond to cheer him up.
You commented how you had plans of going on a small trip with Ren before summer ended, but summer evidently has come to an end. Itâs colder now and the leaves are changing color. Satoru finally decides, âWe can go on a trip soon, and weâll be together all day every day.â
âReally?â The little boyâs eyes light up, making the biggest smile come to Satoruâs lips. Satoru now wonders how he was ever happy without himâ Well, with you⊠But that memory slowly fades away since your relationship is now filled with awkwardness. Satoru nods his head in response. He can lie and make it a business trip, itâs not an issue for him really.
âWeâll have to talk to your mommy first, honey. Then we can plan it all.â Satoru answers, and Ren turns around to go look for you. Satoru feels awkward sitting alone on a bed thatâs far too low and small for him. He stands up and follows Ren. They both look for you around the apartment until they land in your bedroom. The bathroom door is closed, and Ren immediately knows what to do.
Ren opens the door to the bathroom, and you immediately make eye contact with Satoru. Your face grows hot of embarrassment, and obviously Ren doesnât see an issue with it. Renâs issue is when he actually steps into the bathroom, and he just has to comment, âIt stinks.â
âYeah, I wonder why. Get out, Ren, and close the door!â You raise your voice, your embarrassment getting the best of you. Ren closes the door, leaving you to it, and Satoru chuckles. He ruffles Renâs hair as both walk out of your bedroom.
âYou gotta learn how to knock, baby. Give your mommy some privacy.â Satoru says, but it goes one ear out the other. Ren isnât going to knock, youâre his mommy. If you want your privacy you better lock the door. They take a seat in the living room, where Ren grabs the remote to put on a movie. He knows how to get the movie he wants, even when heâs just learning how to read and spell.
âWhere do you want to go?â Satoru asks, wondering where his son wants to go. Ren drops the remote on the couch, putting his tiny index finger on his chin, humming and tilting his head to the side as he thinks of the answer.Â
âThe beach.â Ren answers, but itâs cold. They can go out of the country though, go somewhere warm. He needs to talk to you first, of course. When you finally walk out of your bedroom (after mentally cursing your son for not having any manners when others are around), you go to the living room to see what they needed.
âWhat did you need, Ren?â You ask, and he looks excitedly at you. Satoru is the one that speaks up for him though,
âWe want to go on a trip, can we?â You almost laugh since Satoru sounds like a hopeful child.
âWhere are you two going?â You respond. You canât really say no because Satoru is supposed to have equal authority as Renâs father.
âRen wants to go to the beach.â Satoru answers, Ren nodding in agreement. You cross your arms, your brows furrowing.
âItâs too cold to go to the beach, do you not have any other place in mind?â You point out, making Ren pout. The pout doesnât last long though since Satoru says,
âWe can go to another country. Somewhere warm with better beaches.â Youâre certainly not convinced since you doubt youâre part of the plan. Youâre not letting your baby boy in another country without youâ Well, technically heâd be with his father, but youâre still not convinced. Until Satoru says, âOf course, youâre included! I doubt Ren would go anywhere without you.â
âI wouldnât.â Ren affirms, and you laugh.Â
âIf you plan everything, then sure. We can go on a trip. You need to give me time off thoughïżœïżœ Paid time.â You say, and Satoru nods in response. He does pretty much everything you ask of him, and you certainly canât complain about it. Ren focuses on putting on one of his favorite movies, and you begin to walk to the kitchen, asking, âAre you staying for dinner, Satoru?â
âYeah.â Satoru answers. Heâd definitely rather eat here with his son and you than dine alone at home. He helps Ren put the movie on, and they both begin to watch the movie. Heâs watched this movie around five times the past week, and to be honest, Satoru is sick of it. But heâll watch it because Ren loves it.Â
Heâs grateful when you call his name, and he has to tell Ren that you need him, so he canât stay to watch the movie. Satoru walks to the kitchen, and he finds you trying to reach something thatâs far too high for you. Satoruâs eyes land on the white bowl and he reaches for it before handing it to you. You mutter a thank you, and you expect him to go back to Ren, but he doesnât. You then tell him, âThatâs all I need from you, you can go.â
âDo you need help with anything else? You know I love Ren but⊠Iâm sick of that movie.â Satoru answers, earning a chuckle from you. You think about what he can do for a moment, and he patiently waits for you to answer.
âYou can make the salad, and then set the table.â You respond, and you think youâll regret it for a moment. Satoru has had everything done for him, he probably doesnât know how to cut a cucumber; but then you remember that he lived alone for some time, he had to cook for himself for a while. Satoru immediately gets to work, opening the fridge to get all the vegetables that he needs. He looks around the cabinets and drawers for the cutting board and knife, and he quietly begins to cut the vegetables.
âHave you talked to Shoko?â Satoru asks, washing the lettuce throughout. Pretty much everything is wrong between the two of you, but you canât just stand in awkward silence every single day. You have to talk to each other, after all, you doubt youâll stop seeing each other.
âI havenât. Iâm not going to for a while.â You reply. In Satoruâs eyes, she did nothing wrong. Heâs glad that Shoko told him, otherwise, he probably wouldnât be with Ren. But in a sense, he understands why you donât want to talk to her. âTell her to stop calling my phone because Iâm not going to answer. Iâll call her when Iâm ready.â
âIâm not really talking to her either.â He responds.
âIs it because she has the hots for your wife?â You blurt out, and you bite your tongue the moment the words leave your lips. Satoruâs brows raise, definitely surprised by your words. You canât be serious, can you? Before he can ask more questions about it, you change the topic, âSpeaking of⊠When are you going to tell Sayo about Ren? Sheâs your wife, she has to find out eventually.â
âMaybe after our trip⊠Iâm not sure how to tell her.â Satoru shares, and you understand that itâs a tough situation. He has to figure out a way to tell his wife of almost five years that he had a kid thatâs almost fiveâ And he never cheated, he just found out about him. This was all before their marriage. Itâs definitely hard. Satoru clears his throat, mustering up the courage to ask about Suguru, someone else that he has been ignoring. âSo⊠How are you and Suguru? Are you still seeing each other?â
âWeâve been busy, but weâre still⊠Talking.â You answer. You wonât lie and say that you donât feel nauseous every time you talk to him, your heart nearly beating out of your chest for the simple fact that you lied to him. He has to find out that you lied eventually. âHave you talked to him?â
âIâm not talking to him. Iâve been ignoring him. Iâve been ignoring everyone.â Satoru responds. He puts the knife down, watching you as you begin to cook. He bites down his lip, holding back on saying a couple of things that are on his mind. About this situation, about you and Suguru, maybe an apology. Satoru has been a complete mess with so many things going in his mind, but not voicing any of them. He does have to ask one question though, âIs Ren the reason why you quit school?â
âYeahâŠâ You feel embarrassed to say it. âI couldnât afford both. It was either my baby or school, and that was an easy choice.â
âSorryâŠâ He mutters, and itâs barely audible but you hear it. You donât really pay attention to it, in the end it was your decision. Given the option, youâd do it all over again.Â

I love it, itâs heart breaking and sweet all at once but yeah itâs a choice and an intentional one given two of the four mains have very good reason to trust Ironwood yet they donât.
while I like Ironwood and Ren's dynamic, but having the only character in the main group who supports the big military man be the explicitly Asian one was..... a choice
Yes I know he was being kinda based while doing it but the writers didn't intend that

WOW!!! I LOVED "The Innocent Act Of Dredging Up The Past", IT WAS VERY GOOD!
I wonder how Y/N reacted when she found out she was pregnant and how Fox allowed herself to keep the baby because he doesn't seem like someone who likes sharing attention.
Thank you so much darling!!! I am so glad you asked me this because I have been thinking about Ren as a father nonstop since that request. My brain has been full of many thoughts and opinions and I am happy to have an outlet for sharing lol. That being said, forgive my blathering. ^^;
(18+ and warnings for noncon, pregancy/baby birthing talk, incredibly unhealthy relationships, abuse, and being kidnapped/held against your will.)
Being impregnated by Ren would be absolutely dreadful for you, causing you to spiral into a pit of fear and despair the moment you miss a period or begin to feel queasy in the morning. With the signs starting to show, your brain comes to the instant conclusion that you are with child-his child, and it frightens you like nothing else before. At first you try and convince yourself nothing is wrong, that you are probably just late due to stress, and your upset stomach can be any number of things, it doesnât necessarily mean you are pregnant. Any of your symptoms can be explained away by something else, so in an effort to try and maintain your sanity your brain churns out explanation after explanation, no matter how nonsensical they may be, in hopes of calming your rampant nerves by coming to some other resolution. A stream of constant lies and false reassurances play on repeat in your brain, forcing the thought that you may actually be a mother to the farthest reaches of your mind.
But the longer you wait and the more you dwell on it, the more you are faced with the inevitable. He never wears protection, you havenât had access to birth control, and despite your warnings of it being a delicate time of month for you, his base instincts always won out in the end. There was nothing else this could be.
Faced with the reality of the situation, you were now tasked with the burden of sharing the news with Ren. You didnât want to tell him, terrified of what his response would be, worried that he would somehow blame this all on you and hurt you because of it, quite possibly worse than he ever has before. But an even more horrifying concern than that is if the news actually pleases him. What if he wants to keep the baby? What if you were forced to carry this pregnancy to term while trapped in this grim environment, left to raise another human that shares half their dna with a man who has done nothing but cause you irrevocable damage?
No matter what the outcome, none of them are favorable.
But you didnât have a choice, and you knew it was better to break it to Ren sooner rather than later, lest this whole nightmare become irreversible. In the event he saw things your way, you wanted this thing out of your body as soon as possible (though you loathed to consider what strings Ren would pull to achieve this, and what backwater procedure would be done to do so).
At first Ren brushes it off, not truly believing your concern. Heâs had sex with you countless times without protection and just now you get pregnant? Seems suspicious, so he concludes youâre either overreacting or trying to get a rise out of him, potentially both, and that in and of itself riles him up. Are you telling him this as some kind of ploy? Are you using a false pregnancy as a means to get him to ease up on you a bit or as an attempt at escape? After all you had gone through together, after all the love he has lavished upon you by sharing his home, his life, his heart, with you⊠Would you really tell a lie like this?
He struggles with that possibility. Despite his inclination to feel otherwise, he has a hard time believing you would use a pregnancy scare for your own selfish benefit. You have always been a good girl, his good girl, and deep inside he knows this is not something that is within your nature to do, even if he does have some major doubts.
So, though he doesnât truly believe your claims, he buys the pregnancy test more as a means to shut you up and prove a point than because he actually believes you. Needless to say, he ends up biting his tongue over that one.
When hit with the truth, his emotions are mixed. On one hand, he wants nothing to do with children or child rearing. He didnât have to do much of a self-assessment to recognize he would be a shit father, and he never particularly wanted to be a father to begin with. His own upbringing wasnât the best, he himself never really having a father figure that was worth a damn to guide him or show him any love or support. He had no parenting manual to go off of, and was sure that a culmination of having no positive family experience and maturing into the warped individual he had become led to no other conclusion than NOT being cut out for fatherhood in the slightest.
More than that however, the thought of sharing you, even with a life he helped create, really REALLY pissed him off. Thinking of all the nights you would be spending tending to the baby when you could instead be wrapped up in his arms, or all the attention and affection you will be giving some inept kid that could instead be going towards him, truly gets under his skin. He doesnât WANT to share you. Youâre HIS. And while a baby isnât going to change that, he doesnât want the needless competition to begin with.
But on the other hand, having a baby does have its appeal. It would be nice to bring a life into this world that loves him from the get-go, completely relying on him while being totally oblivious to all that has happened in the past. That sort of pure, blind love is hard to come by in this world, and the fact that he could obtain it so easily from a life he created with you, a human that has your blood running through its veins, is EXTREMELY appealing. And on top of that, you are sure to love the child whether its conception was wanted/planned or not. If you loved a child that was half his for the remainder of your life, would that not bind you to him for just as long? Though he didnât doubt your loyalty (or his ability to keep you tied to him with no hope of escape), it would be a nice assurance to have in the rare event things did not end up going his way.
Once that thought enters his head, itâs over. No further thinking or future planning is required-he is going to be a father, and YOU are the beautiful mama! Congratulations! (Does he get off to you being pregnant? Did this pregnancy make Ren Hana realize he has a breeding kink??? Sources say yes and thatâs your problem to deal with now. :))
âĄ
Holding his newborn for the first time, he has never been so nervous. Tears flood his eyes as he watches the small bundle squirming in his arms, his heart aching as they stare up at him with wide, pure, inquisitive eyes. He was no stranger to ending lives, but creating them? This was something entirely new, as exhilarating as it was scary. His smile grew as he stared at her small face, pleased that she looked so much like you. He could only hope that her personality would mirror yours as well.
âĄ
As time passes and the baby grows, you find out quick that Ren has a very âhands offâ way of parenting, which is to say he relies on you to do most of the work. And honestly, he feels that is fair. Heâs the breadwinner who works hard to provide for you and the newborn, which leaves all other parental duties in your capable hands. You are left to be the childâs main caregiver, their guiding force to lead them through life, their teacher, confidante, and friend. Itâs a daunting task, all residing solely on your shoulders.
Ren wonât readily admit it, but he much prefers it that way. All the abuse that he has suffered through from an early age, every heinous act of violence that has been carried out by his own hands (your wounds, included), all of it has turned him into something unrecognizable, something grotesque. Even if he wanted to have more of a presence in his childâs life, he knows he doesnât deserve it. If he had too much sway in the kids development thereâs a good chance they will grow up to be like him in some way or another, which would be a waste of all the love and hard work that you had put into raising them into being an upstanding person. Ren had made peace with who he had become, but that didnât mean he wanted to keep a cycle that someone like Strade had begun going either.
So, the baby more or less becomes your soul responsibility, and god is that a burden for you. Itâs bad enough that you have such little support from Ren to begin with, but the fact that this is YOUR first time being a parent as well makes it all so much worse. You have no idea what the hell you are doing, and with Ren making sure to keep you as isolated as possible you had no one else to turn to for help, either. It was just you and this brand new life with no one else to rely on, if you fucked up in even the smallest way it could be devastating to the baby. If your daughter got truly hurt, sick, or worse in your care, you didnât know how you would live with the repercussions, let alone handle Renâs reaction.
If your life with Ren hadnât already made you a strung out, nervous, irritable wreck, being a mother certainly would. As she continues to grow, Ren refuses to discipline the child at all, not wanting in any way to appear like a âbad guyâ to your daughter. Given the circumstances, part of you is thankful for that (you honestly donât know what you would do if he turned his ire towards her), but it also just makes things more difficult with you. You are already beyond stressed about trying to raise a child in this type of environment, having no united front and constantly butting heads makes raising her that much harder, especially when any kind of rule you attempt to establish can so easily be overridden by her father who has no remorse over the frustration this causes, nor care as to how his flippancy may affect your childâs development in the long run.
Itâs also not lost on you that being the sole disciplinarian also paints you in a less than favorable manner in your childâs eyes, something you are sure Ren has thought about as well. Being the âstrictâ parent means your child will be more likely to hide things from you, or seek out her father instead of you for support, approval, and advice. Given whom Ren was as a person, this thought didnât sit particularly well with you.
All you can really hope and pray for is that somehow despite the lack of social interaction and outside influence she will grow up to be a decent human. Even maturing under the delusion that her father is a noble man, even if in some instances you have to make yourself the villain, as long as it helps her out in  the long run youâll do everything you can to insure your daughter lives the best life she possibly can, whether her father helps you or not.
I think the REAL problems will begin when the child gets older. When she truly comes into herself and forms her own opinions, develops her own personality, and starts to forge her own way of life⊠Itâs gonna be messy. :/ Your childâs autonomy is definitely going to be a point of contention for Ren in the future, and he wonât be so pleased if/when she catches on to his true nature and begins to rebel or straight up reject him. God forbid she tries and join forces with you or attempt to become your savior. Itâs going to take a lot of cunning on her end to make it out unscathed.
Also, I kind of touched on it previously, but Ren would be incredibly horny the whole pregnancy. Not that he isnât already incessantly slavering over you, something about seeing you round and full just makes him snap. Which is scary in its own right, Ren isnât the most gentle of lovers to begin with and has a tendency to lose himself more often than naught, hurting you in the process. Itâs a constant struggle to satiate him while protecting yourself and the unborn baby, best of luck to you! :D
(And heâll definitely breastfeed from you. Heâs gotta make sure you are producing enough for the baby, ya know? :))
#overall I think he would really grow to love the fun and cute aspects of fatherhood#but all the hard and gross stuff hes like OK I am out moms turn fuck this#and he would be fixated on making himself out to be the coolest dad ever. He yearns for it. His kid HAS to think hes awesome in every way.#If his child makes fun of him he will cry and think about it for the rest of his life.#it will be 3am 8 years later and he will randomly mention the time they laughed at him to you while lying in bed together and you are like#why do you even remember this? lul#anyway THANK YOU FOR THE ASK I HOPE YOU ENJOYED!!!#ren hana x reader#ren hana headcanon#ren hana x y/n#ren btd x reader#ren btd x y/n#fox tpof x reader#fox tpof x y/n#fox tpof headcanon#mothresponse#mothwingswritings

Rewatching 3rd life again from both Grian's and Scar's perspectives because man is it a trip. Not only on how different it is from what it is now but also what it was originally meant to be. Remember, 3rd Life wasn't meant to be a death game. Sure, it was always meant to be a mini-series with no script, but the wars, the betrayals, the curses, those weren't meant to be what it would be. There were meant to be two sides, the Greens versus the Reds with the Greens trying to last as long as they could before everyone became red. The series was meant to be cooperative instead of a death game.
I want to note that everything that Third Life is, what the Life series has become is because of Scar. Obviously, the other lifers had a hand in turning the Life series into the series it is today, but Scar was the one who got the ball rolling. Scar was the one who initiated his crew of mischiefs to raid the village. Scar planted the idea of raiding the village and taking everything for yourself, that you have to win the game. Scar made Grian agreed to a monopoly on Sand which got Grian's brian think of other possible monopolies they could have. Scar planted the idea in Etho's head that you can't trust people by burning the tree of Dark Oak which caused the Village people to be more hostile to Ren. Scar invites idea that they have to compete with each other for resources. Scar's scams caused people to be distrusting towards others since they lost their stuff to Scar. Scar's obsession with Pizza caused Cleo to steal it and leading her to lie in order to keep a secret. And of course, Scar threatened Ren for the Enchanter leading him to need to toughen up to become the Red King. Scar planted the idea in everyone's head that this is a death game and in Scar's mind from the start, he kind of knew it was a death game. He confessed to Etho that he knows it is, it's why he has such trouble trusting people.
In Scar's first life, he was paranoid. He was basically acting like a Yellow life while on his Green life because he is the king of Death. He wasn't sure who to trust and scared of death. He began to relax a bit once he and his group raid the village and he begins to think normally. He devises a plan with Grian since he doesn't really trust his team, after all, they left him all alone even though they know he dies a lot and try to be 'reasonable' with Etho and Tago. Then he dies to Grian's prank and everything changes. He finally has Grian on his side but he finds out everyone just left him to die and he feels betrayed. His anger grows and closes his heart to everyone but the guy who offered his first life to Scar. Scar threatened people while on yellow by having Grian put lava on them. Scar threatened everyone with death which intrigued Grian. Grian made this series to be cooperative and fun, but he also wants to be red and to be a killer, he wants that dangerous side of his brian to be released, but he also knows he shouldn't be like this, after all, he's only on Green. But the more and more he interacts with Scar, the more his malicious and villainous side is released and the two begin thinking of ways to get revenge on everyone who hurt them. Then Scar dies again due to the revine and everything changes again.
Scar is on red but Grian is still stuck with the man due to his debt. This was not how the dynamic of the Reds and Greens was meant to play out, but Grian can't stop it now, Scar changes his skin which invites other people change their skin once they become red. Scar wants cookies and death and it's up the Grian, the Green name, to come up with ways to kill people for Scar and to protect Scar. Scar, meanwhile, doesn't want to lose Grian and so does everything in his power to keep Grian around and for Grian to love him. They make alliances and packs. It convinces the Crastle to make Impulse a mole on both sides, thus making him the first traitor, and at the end of the series, Scar convinces Bdubs to kill Impulse over a watch for the first biggest betrayals. Then there was Scar's betrayal with Grian over the paper then Scar's betrayal to Bdubs and of course, Scar giving his life to Grian because all he ever wanted was Grian. Then it was the final fight. Scar is the first Victor of Third Life with Grian, but only history thinks Grian won, after all, that's what the murals and watchers say. But in the Cactus ring, there were two victors, Scar and Grian who both died by the Ring. Also, it means that yes, we already have a double victor. It's Scar. Scar won Third Life and Secret Life. But so much has happened that Grian and everyone else forgot that fact. Grian in Wild Life thinks that he could be the first ever double victor of the games, not remembering that Scar won Third life with him. So yeah, let be heard, that Scar is the first ever double victor since Scott didn't win Double life. Scott came in Second in Double life, but Scar came in first with Grian in Third Life. Spread the Word! Scar is a double victor and also stuck in Secret Life.

so here's what i'm thinking
it's not kindergarten, guys. it's sixth grade.
bigb and pearl are definitely the "average nickelodeon fan" and "average wings of fire/percy jackson/warrior cats fan" alliance
grian's got wheelies. the clockers keep trying to make him use them on the playground so he trips and falls and EATS SHIT LOSER!!!!
(bdubs said that. etho taught him it and bdubs doesn't know what it means)
btw, the clockers are absolutely those sort of. smartasses who are meaner, cooler, and better than you.
bdubs is an art kid, cleo is one of those writing/reading kids with no thanks to some kid named joe hills (lie) ... and scar... well actually scar is just very charming
grian and jimmy are half brothers. watcher something or the other i don't really care i just think their dynamic is super funny
i'm stealing the "boogeyman is an intense game of tag" and making it more of a cheese touch thing
team ties are all in advanced math. except for skizz, who after immediately getting tagged by both scott and bdubs, was put under the protection of them. impulse holds a goddamn grudge, and no eleven year old is willing to test his patience
martyn and scott were those two friends in the friend group that never interacted as much as they interacted with others, but now that ren's moved schools and jimmy's migrated friend groups, they're suddenly best friends?? they team up with the clockers and occasionally taunt jimmy, trying to win him back
pearl and bigb are definitely tree climbers, pearl brings eight wings of fire books into the tree with her every day and bigb consistently watches in astonishment as she climbs the tree with one hand
they spy on everyone from up there
#limited life#mean gills#the bad boys#team ties#clockers#bigb#pearlescentmoon#WHAT IS THEIR NAME#hate to be called a gen z er but i think my gen z ness is showing :P#im not projecting#not a universal experience and also most of them are european??? like three are from the US but whatever it's my tumblr post i make the rul#*rules

Fax. Nora adopted him first, subsequently having Ren also adopting him, I would say Qrow was the first to adopt him but Iâm pretty sure that was because of Ozpin and then he lost his adoption rights after punching him even though he intended for it to hurt Ozpin. Jaune became best big brother after he big goofed in Argus. Yang joined the Oscar Protection Squad (OPS) in Atlas during V7 and would body anyone who lays a hand on him in the wrong way. Ozpin is dadpin, no questions asked. In V8, Emerald joined and at this point I think sheâs vice president of the OPS (Nora is president, of course). Ruby is literally the CEO of the OPS (have you seen how often she actively protects him in battle? But also theyâre equals because yes)
In short, he is the baby (in more ways than one and in the best way possible) to everyone on remnant
Just saw another post bashing on the son boy and now Iâm sad so this is officially an Oscar pine appreciation post.

Thanks for the request of Haruka & Bofurin gang with haruka's older sister s/o, but can you please do part 2 that her "friends & boyfriendâ came to her town & found her to beat the sh*t up but her brother & Bofurin gang protects her from her so called friends and boyfriend.
Part 2 incoming! Fight, fight, fight!
Wind Breaker characters x Haruka Sakura's older sister part 2
part 1, part 3
characters as written in prev request: Haruka Sakura, Hayato Suou, Akihiko Nirei, Hajime Umemiya, Kyotaro Sugishita, Ren Kaji, and Mitsuki Kiryu (all platonic) TW: bullying
- The next several weeks after kinda resolving some issues with your brother you spent with him and his friends. - They did all they could to make you feel better, and several attempts were made to support you in being even a little more open towards others. Mostly by Umemiya. - Although feeling awkward receiving their kindness and help, you still tried your best for Haruka. - You really wanted to make it up to him, he wasn't the one to blame for your bad choices of friends and you knew that you caused him a lot of harm by cutting him off so suddenly. - The two of you were very stiff and nervous during your sibling times and you would barely get closer, if it weren't for Nirei and Suou. They were so persistent and reliable in connecting you and your brother. - After all this help, you hesitated but finally decided and told Haruka and the Bofurin members that during your free time you could, once again very reluctantly, help them out and the townsfolks.
- You were helping out by painting the walls, with some of the guys, being Umemiya, Sugishita, and Mitsuki. - You secretly listened to the oldest boy talking with Mitsuki about some farming game, where you could also befriend other farmers. You'd lie saying that it didn't brighten up your day even a little. - You got to know that Umemiya was actually quite cool, if he didn't talk to you that much, so you appreciated Mitsuki for taking his attention. - Next thing you knew the old man came from around the corner with a young man who seemed very familiar, too familiar. - He called you and said that the man said he knew you and wanted to talk with you. You took a few steps in their direction before stopping, as you recognized him. - You immediately froze and felt a shiver ran through you. It was the bastard, you called your ex. - Sugishita noticing you getting anxious came in front of you hiding you from the men. - Your ex seeing that told you and the other guys that he just wanted to talk to you, and that it was something important that wouldn't take long. - Why did you agree, you're not sure. Maybe you wanted to look cool in front of the Bofurin members, or maybe you just didn't want to look pathetic. However, it was a big mistake because after following him to some back street you were greeted by other people, that you once called "friends". - At the same time Umemiya had a bad feeling and told Mitsuki to get Haruka and inform him about this.
- Someone grabbed your shirt pulling you roughly towards the group and then pushing you to the wall making your head hit the bricks. - You felt disoriented as you tried to keep standing. - "How did a trash like you think it could get away from us?" - "Do you think you're better because you have some new pitiful friends?" - The bastards from your school asked and you gritted your teeth putting on a front. - "Funny, thought you were the trash." You replied bitterly. - "Oh, right at least I don't need to exploit others to feel better, unlike you." - They certainly didn't appreciate you talking back and one of the girls took their glass bottle before throwing it at you. - At the last second you moved away looking at the broken glass and then back to them. - "You're fuckin' sick." You said and your ex gritted his teeth before coming closer to you. - He was the first one to lose patience and brought his fist back ready to punch you. - You were too startled by the previous attack to react quick enough but you didn't have. Haruka came out of nowhere and grabbed his fist before kicking him in the stomach. Still holding his hand he pulled him closer and punched him in the face. A loud crack was heard. Your brother then followed with another kick in the chest but this time he let go of his hand letting him fall back into some of your old friends. - You were startled by this but when you saw the back of your younger brother you felt like the weight was lifted off your shoulders. - Then you heard more voices from behind and when you turned you noticed other Bofurin members ready to throw hands if needed. - You felt like crying. They all came because they were worried for you and wanted to protect you. - The strange feeling of being taken care of and protected filled you and you wondered if that's what family and friends were like.
- When you were having a small emotional moment, Haruka was seething. He stood in front of the people who took his older sister away from him, people that made her life miserable. His fists tightened and he was more than ready to have a talk with them. Just like Umemiya taught him.
- After the guys left you and Bofurin members alone, scrambling and picking up your ex who was hurt the most. - You felt tears brimming in your eyes. - When you looked up from the ground and saw Haruka in the middle of his friends getting praised for fighting so well, your tears fell down. - You were so moved and so thankful for having them by you, for them letting you be part of their lives, for Haruka protecting you, for everything. - Kaji was the first one to notice you were crying, as he stood more on the sides of the group crowding around your brother. He came to you and gave you a tissue he had in his pocket. - When the rest saw he stood by you and noted you were crying they moved quickly around you asking if you were alright or if something happened. - "I just feel so happy to have you guys. You're the best." You said teary. - The guys sighed in relief and when Haruka scoffed, in relief, he stepped to you and smacked your shoulders. - "Don't worry me like that." He mumbled. - You pulled him, who was trying to run from you, closer and embraced him tightly feeling thankful for having your younger brother back in your life. - Umemiya seeing that couldn't help himself and brought the other guys closer for a group hug, smashing you all together.

The Breaking Of The Shell - Hunter As a Horse Doom - Alex Terrible
Chapter 34
The light tap on your bare shoulder almost pulls you from the haze of sleep.
Almost.
But youâre too comfortable to move. Too tired. Caught somewhere between peace and exhaustion with barely any thoughts. You drift, resting on whatever softness you lie on. It feels nice. And smells faintly of a warm, crackling fire and a deeper undertone, like marrow buried in the earth. Dense. Grounding.
Another tap, firmer this time, yet still gentle.
âPsst.â
A voice.
âItâs time to wake up.â
When your eyes drift open, you blink and are greeted by the sight of Sukunaâs messy sheets, a ridiculous mountain of pillows, and your form poured out across his futon, flat on your stomach.
Disoriented, you blink again, pushing yourself up slowly. Turning to sit, you face the room, aching in every muscle, body and energy spent. It feels like you could sleep for ages, especially here, wrapped in the decadence of this space.
A soft clearing of a throat breaks the quiet, and you glance left. Pale morning light filters through the garden doors, illuminating Ren standing beside the raised futon. She cradles a bowl of steaming liquid, her expression furrowed in thought.
âMorning,â she says, her voice polite, her head bowing slightly, but her eyes wander to the nearest wall, avoiding you.
You look down.
Oh.
Right.
Youâre completely naked.
Muttering a few choice words, you grab the nearest thingâthe massive blue quilt and swamp the fabric tightly around your body. It doesnât take long for the memories of last night to resurface, and all you wish for is the heavy forgetfulness of sleep.
What do you remember?
Ceramics shattering. Sneaking into the King of Cursesâ room in the middle of the night to stab him. All the truths that were finally hatched. Then, the forest battle. Your power. The fire arrow. The shouting. Screaming. Kissing. The sexâgods, the sex. Before, the quiet, whispering, âI should have stolen you sooner.â And finally, the monster letting you go, telling you to depart before sunrise, leaving you here, alone, covered in hisâŠ
You look down, cheeks burning with mortification as irritation prickles under your skin at the sticky sensation between your legs. Thereâs a lot. Itâs everywhere.
He has two cocks, after all.
Taking a corner of the quilt, you scrub at your inner thighs, uncaring if you stain his sheets. If anything, you hope it leaves a messâone small, final reminder that you were here. The act feels petty, but you reserve a corner in your mind that he deserves a whole lot more than this.
Let all his sleeps be ruined by crusty sheets.
Prick.
Peering back at Ren, your eyes flicker to the bowl cradled in her hands, which she seems to be directing toward you. The wafting steam smells of the earth, a grassy edge, maybe something sweet.
âWhat is that?â
Your prickly tone does little but draw her attention back to you. You level her with a stare. The sting of betrayal still crawls around in your mind, and looking at her directly does nothing to settle it.
âItâs a tea, my Laââ Her words falter, lip tucking inward to stop herself.
You tug the quilt tighter, a protective shield.
So, the news has already spread throughout the shrine. This sham of a union is over. Eyebrows calmly arching, you wait for her to recover her voice.
âItâs a preventative,â she says, clearing her throat softly, âagainst anything... unwanted. Master Sukuna didnât wish you to leave only to become pregnant.â
Her explanation barely registers before you take the bowl from her hands, careful to avoid brushing her skinâan intentional gesture after last nightâs incident. No more shattered ceramics.
âHow thoughtful of him,â you mumble, peering into the bowlâs murky contents and inhaling.
Despite the bitterness in your words, you know itâs true. Becoming pregnant would be foolish, and, as Ren said, unwanted. With no home, no clan, and no means of support, bringing a child into this life would be reckless.
âIs this what you and Sayuri would drink?â
You take a sip. Hints of over-brewed root and bark nips at your tongue.
âNot often.â Ren makes a humming sound in her chest. âIf ever.â She moves across the room to pluck your ruined yukata that still sits as a rumpled pile on the floor. âNormally, he wouldnât find completion inside us,â she adds, her voice calm, almost factual. âHe would withdraw.â
âOh.â
You avert your stare to the tea again. Taking a longer sip, then two more, you drain the rest in one long swallow. Wiping your mouth, you add, âI suppose I should feel honoured, right?â You tap the ceramic dish once with a finger before setting it down on the sheets.
Again, the bitterness in your words. They arenât meant for Ren, but they come nonetheless.
Petty, petty.
She doesnât respond, and standing at the end of the futon, she hesitates before dropping her chin.Â
âI donât mean to be forward, butââ She smooths your discarded garment between her fingers, as if trying to rub out the stains. âYou need to leave,â she continues. The new tension winding through her tone has you sitting straighter. âThereâs a force advancing toward Master Sukunaâs domain.â
Your brow creases.
âAn attack?â Feet finding their way to the floor, you stand with the quilt wrapped around you. âSimilar to previous ones?â
Ren shakes her head softly.
âNo.â She hands you your yukata, which you take with careful fingers. âMaster Sukuna seems more concerned about this. Apparently, itâs much more organizedâand from the capital.â
Your pulse makes a dip. Skips a beat or two.
What you had wondered about last night is coming to pass. Heian-kyĆ is moving to retaliate against Ryomen Sukuna. The course of events likely tracing to what you asked of him nights agoâthe destruction of the Kasai clanâŠ
Everyone. Dead.
Those were her words.
You let the quilt fall, and threading your arms through the sleeves of your yukata, you slip inside.
What would they do if they ever laid hands on Sukuna? Unlikelyâbut does it matter to you anymore?
Do I even care?
Pinching the front panels of the garment closed, you glance around for the sashâyour binding from last nightâbut itâs nowhere to be found.
Before you can ask any further questions, the door slides open.
Uraume steps into the room. Their pink gaze flickers toward you briefly, but it doesnât remain. Crossing to a chest resting in the corner, their pale hands move to pile several folded garments into their arms.
You stare at them. At the pink strip staining the back of their head.
I trusted you.
Ren shifts beside you, clearing her throat for what feels like the hundredth time.Â
âIâll prepare some of your things for departurââ Â
âI trusted you.â Your voice is aimed at Uraumeâs back, but your words are meant for both of them.
The pale-haired subordinateâs hands pause. It falls silent. Then they continue while a pained expression passes over Renâs face. You bite the inside of your cheek.
âDid you all just sit around at the end of the day and laugh at me?â you add, teeth clicking shut. âRecount all the stupid things I must have done?â
With a thump, Uraume presses the chest closed. In the dim light, dust motes swirl, dance, and finally settle. They turn to you, head bowing deeply, taking you by surprise.
âI have nothing to say for myself,â they admit, tone sincere. âAnd whatever you believe, know thisâour actions toward you were genuine.â
âGenuine?â Your laugh comes out humourless. âAfter lying to me this whole time?"
âYes.â
They pause, then lift their head.
âBut.â Their expression cools, and your gaze hardens. âYour intent was to harm Master Sukuna. My loyalty will always remain with himâjust as yours has always belonged elsewhere.â
Loyalty?
You huff, frustration rolling around inside your chest.
âOf course my loyalty was elsewhere. I did this to protect my sister.â
Under Uraumeâs white bangs, their eyes exchange a wordless glance with Ren before flitting back to you.
Of course, they also didnât know thisânone of them did. Hidden truths and lies are all that bind anyone here.
âIt wasnât something I chose for myself,â you continue. And yetâwhat choice did either of them have against the word of the King of Curses? Was there a choice at all?
For a moment, Uraume hesitates, as if thereâs more they want to say. But they simply bow their head again.
âBe safe.â
Clutching the stack of garments, they turn, slip gracefully into the corridor and disappear.
You stand there quietly before Ren steps briskly toward the door.
âPlease,â she murmurs. âItâs time to go.â
Lifting your chin, you follow her from Sukunaâs chambers, sparing one last glance at the muralâthe fading seasons, the red bloom sprouting from the snowâbefore turning away.
Descending the corridor back to your room feels strange, yet familiar, like retracing steps through a place that no longer belongs to you. When you enter, Ren gives you space. You move quickly, taking only what you need for the journey. Everything else, and anything gifted, remains untouched.
Before changing into a dark, plain kimono and hakama, you wipe your body down as best you can with a piece of cloth, ridding yourself of Sukunaâs touch.
With your leather gloves on, you pause in the doorway. The shattered ceramics from last night have been cleaned, leaving no trace of the realizations they pulled forth. Sliding the door open, you turn left, following the long hallway toward the front entrance. You pass the central hall, passing attendants along the way. They move through the corridors with their heads drawn low, not acknowledging you.
And you wonderâhad they known about your gift all along? Perhaps thatâs why they kept their distance, treating you like a walking, breathing wound.
Or a sickness.
Pushing the massive front doors open, you step outside. The morning drips with light rain, drizzle clinging to the air as fog blankets the ground in a soupy veil.
Everything is greyâdull, grey, muted, lifeless.
No colour. No warmth.
You exhale.
The clipped tap of footsteps behind you draws your gaze back over your shoulder. Ren stands at the mouth of the corridor, her face unreadable.
âTake care of yourself,â you say with a nod. She bows, head lowered, never lifting it.
Forcing a tight smile, you descend the wet stone steps of the shrine. The sodden ground gives beneath your feet as you make your way to the stables. Inside, your gaze sweeps over the stalls, tracing the familiar shapes of Sukunaâs horses, one after another, all accounted for.
So, heâs still here.
You pull open the door where Ayana waits, but a dull thud draws your attention downward.
There in the hay, your sheathed tantĆ lies, snug in its scabbard.
You stare at it for a heartbeat. Sukuna must have retrieved it, intending for you to take it. Your mouth twitches faintly, but instead of picking it up, you step over it, leaving the weapon where it lies.
A gift given, and one youâll leave behind.
Ayana greets you with a gentle nudge, her warm breath coasting over your cheek. Huffing softly, the corner of your mouth attempts to rise.
âReady to go, girl?â you murmur, circling her with a reassuring pat. Her dappled coat is smooth, brushed to a shine, clear that someone has taken care of her.
âWeâll ride toward the capital. Yuna will likely be waiting there for us,â you say, running a soothing hand along her neck before reaching for the bridle slung over the nearest beam. You begin fitting it over her head, your gloved hands steady as you secure the tack.
âAnd when this is all over, Iâll find you a place with real pastures. Somewhere with soft grass and open space, plenty of room to run wild.â You adjust the straps. âIâll bring you something good too. Maybe sweet chestnuts. Or apples from some market we find along the way, the kind that smells like warm honey.â
She whinnies, and you smile at her.
âFreedom. Choices.â You give her a final pat. âSounds nice, doesnât it?â
The creak of the stable door opening makes your head tilt slightly. You pause. The heavy footfalls arrive like an approaching storm, the rustle of fabric a whisper, sending searing heat down your spine.
Sukunaâs footsteps might as well be stomping around inside your chestâall loud and disquieting.
But instead of hiding, you keep your focus on Ayana, and donât look up. You continue preparing her, hands moving with careful precision.
Still, you canât ignore the faint trace of his energy brushing against you, proddingâalmost as if in greeting.
You force yourself to ignore it. To breathe.
You can block it out, canât you? If nothing else, youâve learned this muchâyou are far stronger than you ever realized.
Inhale. Exhale. Deep and low into your belly.
Slowly, the oppressive hum of him dulls. Quieted, but not gone. Never entirely gone.
A stall door groans open. One of his many horses lets out a low chuff, and then his voiceâdeep and quietâfills the space, murmuring soft, soothing words to the beast. The familiar clink of buckles follows, the slow pull of leather straps.
Heâs leaving now too.
You quicken your pace, finishing swiftly to avoid a final confrontation.
With the saddle fastened, you mount Ayana and steer her toward the main doors, keeping your focus locked aheadânowhere else. A firm nudge to her side, and you burst from the stables, refusing to acknowledge the flash of red eyes snapping toward you as you race past.
No lasting glances. No words. No goodbye.
Nothing.
Youâre already gone.
Erupting down the dirt-packed road with the wind tearing through your hair, the rain picks up. But you donât mind. This is a first taste of freedom.
Pressed between the towering, muted trees at your sides and the endless curve of the grey sky above, Ayana surges forward, her hooves slicing through shallow puddles.
It all blurs. You donât look back.
But it doesnât take long before your mareâs gallop is drowned out by the thundering of hooves from behind.
Before you can turn, Sukuna suddenly appears beside you, his massive warhorse cutting across your path. Ayana rears back with a startled cry, and you grip the reins tightly to steady her, heart pounding as he pulls alongside.
Slowly, he comes into focus.
You havenât met his gaze since last night, seen his face since that vulnerable moment when he was buried deep inside you, when he turned you away.
Now, eyes finding yours, they move across you, and something fractures behind the scarlet hue of his stare.
He looks so different from only hours ago. Before, he had been lost in pleasureâor whatever other tumultuous emotions had circled in his mind.
Now, he looks ready for war.
A dark charcoal kimono and hakama stretches over his broad frame, the long spear strapped to his back a promise of violence. He appears as a shadow against the pale morning, cut from a deep wound, a stain.
And yetâ
Tiny droplets of rain cling to him, softening the edges. Beads dot his lashes, dampen his pink hair to a deeper shade of blush. His eyes blink against the drizzle, and for a moment, the storm touches him too.
Hands loosening on Ayanaâs reins, you part your lips to ask why heâs comeâonly for him to reach forward and crush something against your sternum.
Your chin tilts downward. Pressed against your chest is a thick stack of parchment, its edges curling from the damp. Reaching for them, your gloved fingers brush against the soaked paper, and you avoid his hand. Then your gaze drops lower, catching on the seal pressed into the front. A snake, coiled in red.
They are letters.
Your letters.
The ones he took.
Your eyes snap back to the King of Curses. He looms over you, his upper left arm still closing the space, palm flat against you. He looks out of place, oddly quiet, like he wants to speak but canât quite force the words free.
Your grip on the reins shifts, leather creakingâthe only sound above the steady patter of rain and the breath of the two horses.
Three heartbeats pass before he finally speaks.
âBe careful,â he mumbles lowly, pressing his hand more firmly as though unwilling to let go. His brow furrows. The way he looks at youâitâs there. If only he could unburden himself, let the words crawl free, you might listen.
You wait.
But his mouth and throat are fortified, his eyes fixed on you with an intensity that aches.
âStay off the main road. Donât ride east, itâs dangeroââ
âGoodbye, my Lord.âÂ
Composed. Formal. Chin lifted.
Your interruption makes him hesitate, lip twitchingâbefore, at last, he releases you. Slowly. Reluctantly. And itâs that reluctance on his face that makes him look like a man whoâs taken another blade to the neck and doesnât understand how.
What does he expect?Â
Again, youâve given him pieces of yourself. And again, he has taken.
The thought twists.
Ruiner.
Tucking the letters deep into the front panels of your kimono, you turn away. Without a backward glance, you guide Ayana forward, and the space separating you stretches wideâlike the unseen divide that always existed between your two rooms at the shrine.
Ayana surges ahead. The world blurs into gold and brown. But you only get so far before something inside tugsâan invisible thread pulling too tight.
You risk a glance back.
Thereâs a final flash of red clinging to you before vanishing, swallowed by the fog and rain, and the four-armed demon dissolves into the grey.
* * * * *
You donât ride for long before finding a place beyond the main trail to dismount. Under the shelter of a sprawling oak, your mare slows, and you pull the letters from the safety of your kimono.
Settling onto a cold slab of rock, its damp surface seeping through your layers, you decide itâs time to read through themâif only to chase away the feeling clawing at your chest.
An odd ache of sorts.
Glancing down at the parchment in your handsâthere are many. Some remain folded and untouched. While others have been folded and refolded, their creases worn soft, as if read over again and again.
Why Sukuna felt the need to keep them hidden, youâre unsure.
Taking the first from the top, you ease it open and begin.
Dearest Sister, I hope this letter comes to you well. Court life has been a marvelâevery day feels like stepping into the poetry of a dream. The noblewomen are endlessly graceful, and Iâve started lessons to refine my own gestures and speech. Did you know thereâs even a proper way to arrange robes for an audience? Itâs all so fascinating, and I feel Iâm learning so much. Yuna
Your brow drops. You set it aside and retrieve another.
Dearest Sister, Iâve had the opportunity to meet several suitors from other clans, Zenâin, Kamo. Iâm still waiting to meet a man from the Sugawara clan, said to have silver hair and striking blue eyes like the open sea. The others carry themselves differently, some with charm, others with an air of superiority. I wonder what they saw when they looked at me. Yuna
You drag your eyes away from the elegant script, rifling through the stack before selecting another.
Dearest Sister, The dango here is unlike anything Iâve ever tasted. Soft, sweet, with just the slightest hint of char that, regrettably, left me with a terrible stomach ache. I lack restraint, but how could I when they were served onâ
Enough.
Your fingers curl into the parchment.
What kind of letters are these? Not a single word asks about your well-being or safety. Not a single inquiry into how you are being treated at the shrine. She speaks only of herself, every sentence orbiting around her.
Jaw clenching, you shuffle through the rest, searching for a kind wordâanything that isnât self-indulgent. But thereâs nothing. Itâs always about Yuna. It always has been.
She is the protected.
You, the protector.
She, the gem.
You, the trinket, shoved into a corner.
Her, lovely.
You, anything but.
Youâve convinced yourself time and time again that your needs were never worthy, that you were deemed undeserving. Yet despite her volatile upbringingâone so similar to your ownâshe could still show you some hint of compassion, some fragment of concern. Couldnât she?
You keep searching, keep looking, and still, nothing.
A crack runs through your heart, a fractious crumbling. Ridiculous to feel this way. All this from a few damn letters. But you swallow and flip through the papers once more, unfolding and refolding.
There has to be something.Â
Your fingers halt on a small, unmarked letter, the parchment lightly stained, its surface rough, absent of any emblem. Discreet. You unfold it slowly, revealing the familiar ink strokes of your fatherâs handwriting.
For a moment, you simply blink, looking down at the ramblings of a dead manâa man you killedâstaring back at you.
To my youngest daughter. I will make this brief. If I am no longer here, I have one simple and final request to offer you. Do not trust the next head of the Kasai clan. Trust no one. Trust yourself. Trust your memories, but know that the mind is a terrible thing when touched. While you remain in the south, under the creatureâs eyes, remember your mother. Remember her. Remember. And for all the harm I have caused you, I can only hope that one day you will find it in your heart to forgive me. Your Father. Kasai Takuma.
You stare at it, chest tight.
Forgive him?
Forgive him?
The thought alone feels impossible. A delusion he has no right to ask for. A fucking foolâs errand.
Your eyes sting.
Crumpling the letter, you toss it aside, letting it sink into the wet grass.
The thought burns at you, picking. You push to your feet, pace in agitation, eyes fixed on the wadded paper while the damp earth begins to swallow it whole.
âThe mind is a terrible thing when touchedâŠâ you murmur, watching the letter start to cave in on itself. âWhat the hell does that even mean?â
The ink starts to bleed.
Your mouth twitches.
With an exhale, you step closer, grabbing it before moisture can fully soak through, then stare at it again, reading it over and over until his nonsense is memorized.
Because something about this feels wrong. Bone-deep, wrong.
The Kasai clan was destroyed days ago. There is no clan head. No power. No influence.
Once, I think I cared for you, just like your mother had, but I forgot what that felt like.
Your fatherâs words wander back, unbidden. The same words he spoke before you stabbed him in the throat.
âYouâre not making any sense, you bastard.â
Sighing, you let your head fall back, neck tilting as your eyes drift skyward. The rain has passed, but the clouds linger heavy, dragging their swollen bellies close to the earth.
Your heartbeat slows.
Remember.
RememberâŠ
Remember what?
Closing your eyes, you take a long, deep breath. Calm.
Remember.
RememberâŠ
I remember a breeze. A whisper in the dark.
âHow are you feeling?â
Your gaze snaps open as a choking scent invades your nose.
A smell.
That smell.
Smoke.
Leather gloves creaking, you curl your hands into fists as your eyes lift to the east, catching sight of thick, dark plumes rising, streaking the sky in an ugly stain of ash.
Somethingâs burning.
* * * * *
Elsewhere, in a village to the east, some time laterâŠ
Screaming. Yelling. Crying.
Flames lick at the grey sky. Huts on fire. Villagers running in every direction.
The King of Curses knows no mercy. Even surrounded by ten, twenty, fifty men, he fights. And when Sukuna fights, he fights viciously. Violently. He fights alone.
From across the burning, crumbling village, five assailants throw themselves toward him all at once. With Hiten out, the demonâs hold on his cursed energy is loose, and he responds in kind.
The first man arrives, swinging his katana with misplaced triumph, aiming for his weapon hand. The sharp edge of the blade descends with a high-pitched wail, but before he can take another step, his blood and guts are already smeared across the ground.
As easy as splitting an overripe peach.
Sukuna grins at the mess and laughs, then lifts his chin from the warm, wet, glistening heap.Â
Three more follow.
Heâs ready. Muscles in his chest swollen, the upper half of his kimono slung at his waist, four arms draped at his side, he steps forward to meet them.
For a heartbeat, as he moves, the energy of a lesser sorcerer rolls up against him in annoying fits and spurts. Itâs distracting, a bit of a nuisance. Lip peeling back, he ignores it, his focus returning to the rushing of feet toward him, the advancing trio moving with well-trained precision.
But training means nothing in the presence of a many-faced monster.
Garments snapping in the heat of battle, Sukuna takes in the insignias woven into their attireâmen from Heian-kyĆ and the Zenâin clan. The latter, he knows, is behind the constant attacks on his domain. For the past month, theyâve pushed his patience, having sat in league with the Kasai clan. Were.
Thereâs a bright red flash.
A spasm of energy hurtles toward him.
Dodging, he slides into a wide stance, sandals gripping the damp soil. His upper right arm lifts, two fingers poised. Scarlet eyes burn.
Flick!
A sharp hiss rips through the air.
The three men stagger to a stop, shudder, then split apartâtorsos sliding cleanly from their hips, their bodies fall in halves to the ground with meaty thuds.
Veins, cartilage, bone, tissue, muscle.
Sometimes, Sukuna enjoys dragging out a fightâtesting his opponentâs limits, squeezing out every last drop of potential.
Not today.
Today, he fights to kill. Today, he wants to see eyes wrench wide, watch insides spill pink, feel flesh tear under his hands. The slick heat of bloodâhe needs it. Needs to drown out the colour of snowmelt, the vision slipping long out of reach.
Pitiful.
He lets himself feel fucking pathetic for one second before turning to the last man in his vicinity.
There are still more to kill.
Lots more.
âCome on!â His canines flash.
He feels insane. Drunk. Blood drunk. Bloodlust.
He wants more. So much more.
The final man raises his hands, fingers aligning into some kind of hand sign.
âThrilling.â Sukunaâs demonic grin pulls wider.
With a smooth motion, his lower left arm draws back, halberd poised.
He releases it.
The incantation barely leaves the sorcererâs throat before the blades sink snugly into his windpipe. The manâs cries mutate into animalistic sounds as he crumples to his knees, then collapses onto his back, eyes fixed on the ashen sky.
âHow boring,â the King of Curses mutters, stepping closer to the body.
Planting his foot on the lifeless chest, he leans into it, dislodging Hiten from the ruined neck with a slick, hideous squelch.
âSuch a waste to use this here,â he scowls, turning the bloodied weapon in his hand with a reverent eye. âIt deserves far worthier opponentsâŠâ Lowering the haft to the dirt, he lets the blade rest upright. âPerhaps another time.â
He lifts his attention from the spear, falling on the remains of the sprawling village, surveying where the chaos takes shape.
The pests of the Zenâin clan and men from the capital swarm the dirt paths between ruined huts, fire stinging the air as they rip the place apart. He catches sight of others lingering at the edges, biding their time, waiting, but heâs not sure for what.
Four eyes sweeping to the fields beyond, he sees theyâre smothered in ash, the homes already burned to the ground before his arrival. This villageâonce the heart of this domain northeast of the shrineâis as good as lost. Survivors, mostly women and children, pick their way through the wreckage or scatter into the surrounding wilds. Few converge in the distance, forming a group as they attempt to flee toward the tree lineâonly to be cut down or dragged away.
A month ago, the situation wasnât this dire. Then again, a month ago, everything was very different. But this assault feels⊠calculated.
As he moves toward another cluster of assailants, that same flicker of lesser energy brushes against him, making his brow crease in irritation. Again, he ignores it, too busy weighing his next opponent.
Out of nowhere, two horses rush past, their riders racing in the direction he came from.Â
South.Â
A warning rings out inside his mind, and he doesnât hesitate to move.
Abandoning the village, Sukuna tracks them, his massive form cutting through the terrain. With a flick of his wrist, the first rider is ripped from the saddle, slamming against the earth.
The second man continues, veering deeper into the brush.Â
He doesnât make it far.Â
With a single swipe, Sukuna cleaves through flesh and bone, severing the riderâs leg mid-gallop. The limb hits the ground first. The man follows, crashing into the undergrowth. His horse bolts, vanishing into the trees, leaving its master mutilated in the dirt, groaning in agony.
Through the thicket, the King of Curses moves slowly. Blood pools beneath the mangled figure, staining the rain-softened earth dark. Sukuna reaches him and kneels, fingers curling into the man's battle attireâa layered mix of padded silk and hemp, suited for a warrior of Heian-kyĆâs polished courts yet built for combat. Hiten shifts at his side as Sukuna hauls the man upright, their faces close enough that he can taste the sour tang of his breath, can see the fear stretching lines in his features.
âWhy are you here?â Sukunaâs voice is a bored, guttural drone.
What he said must have been funny, because his trembling prey smiles at him, baring a row of gummy teeth.
Oh.
Sukuna chuckles.
How sweet.
Canting his head like an animal, the monsterâs lower right hand finds its way to the dismembered leg. His fingers crawl deep into the raw, bleeding cavity until the manâs mouth opens in a scream.
âIâll ask again,â he drawls, pinching an artery between firm fingers. âWhy are you here?â
âTo collect!â the warrior croaks in pain, blood bubbling onto his chin, some managing to spill onto the mossy ground.
Sukunaâs grip loosensâslightly.
âTo collect what?â
Sweat slithers down the manâs brow to settle in the hollow of his cheek.Â
âYou,â he wheezes, then the grin from before returns, overtaking his shuddering expression. âAnd to take that whore of a wife off your hands.â
Sukunaâs face turns solid. Emotionless. He says nothing. Even when he imagines tearing the manâs jaw free from its roots, leaving him to choke on his own bile and blood.
âYou are sentenced to death for the crimes against the Kasai clan,â he continues, glee painting his words even as his skin pales like a corpse. âYour wife stands accused of conspiracy and treason for instigating a coup.â
Sukunaâs jaw sets. He removes his fingers from inside the bloody stump.
âBut, sheâs wanted alive.â The man pauses. âThere are far greater plans for her.â
The monsterâs expression darkens.
âAnd who said she had anything to do with it?â His teeth are bared despite himself.
Patience.
âA witness,â the warrior sneers. âSomeone of higher influence than both of you.â
âFuck your so-called witness. It means nothing to me,â Sukuna hisses, yanking the man forward until their noses nearly touch. âThe Kasai clan is gone. I took them apart.âÂ
âNo.â The man wheezes out a laugh, then licks his bloodied bottom lip. âNot all of them.â
The King of Curses already knows this. And he doesnât care. He doesnât care about the accusations, the sentence placed upon him. Let them call him a criminal, a demon, a cannibal, disgraced, wretchedâheâs heard it all before. But you? Thatâs⊠a different creature entirely.
His fingers flex around the warriorâs clothing, crumpling it further in his grip.
âWho?â
The manâs grin spreads grotesquely wide, every tooth on display.
âThe new head of the Kasai clan.â He starts to laugh, his head lolling back in wild abandon.
Only then does Sukuna notice the eyes, the pupilsâblown wide, unnaturally so.
âAnd sheâs magnificent.â She. âYouâll see. Youâll see whenââ
With a harsh twist, the manâs face is wrenched sideways. His laughter cuts off. Bones splinter. Flesh stretches. Pulls. Tears.Â
Sukuna doesnât stop.
He rips the jaw clean from the warriorâs skull. Blood sprays across him in a fine mist. Holding the chunky mass of bone and tissue in his hand, he turns it slowly between his fingers as though admiring a beautiful flower. Below him, his victim collapses to the ground, his hands flying up to claw at the gaping red hole where his mouth once was. But thereâs nothing, and his screams are reduced to wet, gurgling sounds as his body twitches in pain.
âMagnificent, was it?â Rising to his full height, Sukuna drops the shattered jaw. âLetâs see how magnificent Yuna Kasai is when Iâm done with her.â
Without sparing another look, he turns, leaving the man to suffer, and saunters back toward the village.
As he walks, he collects everything, thinks about the manipulative little bitch who has finally revealed her handâturning against you, usurping what remains of the Kasai clan, setting everything into motion.
Like a slow-working poison. And by the time you realize what sheâs done, it will be too late.
Once your eyes have opened, it will destroy you.
And after all this, he let you goâknowing full well you were no longer safe.
Safe.
He scrubs a hand across his face, then runs it through his hair, fingers dragging through clotted blood and sweat. With another hand, he grips Hiten, shifting its weight as he slides the weaponâs haft into his obi, the blade rising over his shoulder, still within reach.
Walking out of the tree line, the village comes into view, and that same pressure as before pushes against his sensesâa slow, drugging pulse in his veins. Drugging in the way that itâs familiar...Â
Sukuna slows, then stops, cocks his head to the side, all his senses straining.
That lesser energy heâs been feeling. Not lesser, just untamed energy. It reaches across him like a stranger but still familiarâknown, but not entirely. The face of someone he once knew but never fully understood, even if he wished he had.
But thatâs impossible.
Because itâs yours.
Your cursed energy. Here.
You are here.
Why the hell are you here? You canât be. You were far from this place. He had told you not to ride east. So why does it feel like heâs breathing you in again? Hadnât he finally rid himself of your presence?
And yet.
Spurts of it tell him something else.
You are here. And you areâŠÂ fighting. Â
His four eyes roll across the surroundings, searching. Thereâs a wisp of it. He feels it. Then, he moves.
Carving his way through any assailant even as they lunge at him, he slips past every strike, every arc of steel, and every flicker of energy that flares to life. Â
Delving back deeper into the village, fire cracks. The wind shifts. Smoke spills down his throat, and the warm scent of death thickens, layered with fouler scents. Â
Decay. Â
His gaze narrows. Â
He moves faster.
The ground slopes under his feet. A natural dip in the land, where runoff pools from the rain. Down past charred remains of a market stall, he steps over a corpse.Â
More signs.
Footprints trailing through the dirt, the grass at their edges reduced to black husks. Ash curling over withered reeds. It only goes so far before the rot stops.
Your work. Â
He lifts his head.
The village stretches forward, its wreckage bisected by a narrow road snaking through the center.Â
More corpses litter the ground. Not just deadâruined.
Darkness eats at the edges of their skin, flesh slack and mottled, collapsed inward. Their chests yawn open, ribs gaping, organs spilled like spoiled fruit.
So this is the full extent of your powerâall from a single touch.
He pauses, taking it inâthe tattered scraps of the deadâs clothing, the insignias barely visible through falling soot and ash.
Heian-kyĆ and Zenâin.
Sukuna steps over the bodies. Another corpse shudders in its final moments, a rattling hiss as bones slump into a heap of innards.
Fresh.
You were here moments ago. Â
He breathes it in, takes it in, the reeking taste of sick life on his tongue. Â
Youâre messy. Inefficient. Brutal. Room for error.
His lip curls.
Reckless woman.
âWhere the fuck are you?â he growls, stepping over another pile of split torsos and soured meat. But there it isâyour pulse, steady through this slaughter.
Skirting a half-collapsed hut, he follows its pull.
Then, a desperate cry cracks the air.
He stops.
Goes still.
Listens.
His ears catch the sting of metal, the shuffle of hurried feet, and a crowd of voices.Â
But itâs you.Â
He knows this.
Through the shambles, down shallow alleys, past collapsed walls where fire has eaten at wood and thatchâhe moves.
The pulse of your cursed energy bleeds stronger.
The noise ahead swells.
Laughter.
Jeering voices. Too loud.
He rounds the last ruin and steps into an open stretch of the village square.
In the distance, a cluster of men stands in a tight mass all shouting and revelling. Teeth flashing, voices raised as though theyâve just brought down something great.
As though theyâve won.
He moves closer.
The ravenous crowd parts like a vein split open, but thereâs no beast lying at their feet.
Thereâs only you.
The Zenâin clan and men from the capital have you.
Their hands claw at youâpulling, dragging, yankingâbefore shoving you face-first into the slick mud. Your arms are wrenched behind your back, leather gloves missing, exposing discoloured fingers and hands.
Beside you, one man yanks Ayanaâs reins, his knuckles tight around the leather. The mare screams, bucking wildly, panic twitching through every strained muscle. Kicking up dirt, she fights to break free.
But it isnât enough.
She is losing.
And so are you.
Thrashing, you fight like a wild creature ripped straight from the forest, meant to be bound and butchered.
And you donât stop. Not even when a man straddles your back, his knees digging into you as he shoves a dirtied strip of cloth between your teeth, wrapping it tight around your head, forcing your cries to collapse into muffled rage. Then he adjusts his grip and pulls. Your spine wrenches into a painful bow, body buckling under heavy weight.
You scream.
Andâ
Livid. Fucking. Fury.
Clarity comes to a sharpened point.
Jaw clenched, it's incredible how the violence hits Sukuna all at onceâso forceful he's certain his teeth crack down to the marrow.
But that isnât the worst of it.
Another man steps around your struggling form, gripping a branding iron. Its tip glowsâa hot, furious thing. Your right arm is wrenched back, palm up, pinned to the ground.
Thatâs when he understands this condemnation.
èŁćă
Traitor. Betrayer.
Theyâre going to brand you.Â
You must feel the heat licking at your skin because he sees your eyes go wild with terror. Sees the moment the screams rip harder from your throat, gag soaking with it.
The sight before himâone so much like his own beginning, when the fire once kissed his face.
But this.
The sound of you struggling, fighting, handled like preyâafter everythingâthis is all it takes.
He understands it instantly, viscerally, and an ugliness crawls within him, a weapon unsheathed. That same feeling, the one that gripped him last night slides over his being, the one he felt before he followed you into the forest.
That repetition of tiny words all to form a much grander thing.
His.
Always.
But he doesnât name it. Doesnât think it. Doesnât breathe it back into existence.
You were never truly his to begin with.
Sukuna takes a step.
Something must alert you to his presence, because your gaze cuts through the crowd and finds him. And you are furious. Eyes screaming into him, eyes screaming at him. And with that look, the first threads of his restraint toward you fall apart.
The King of Curses takes another patient step.Â
He doesnât need to run.
Time bends for him.
And everyone here will be dead in a heartbeat.
If only he knew of the quiet blade being drawn behind him.

Glynda stormed through the halls of Beacon. She had been certain her TALK with Ms Nikos and Mr Ren a day ago, would have curtailed Ms Arc and Ms Valkyrie's more chaotic impulses. But apparently she was wrong.
Glynda: I should have known better to trust children to keep other children under control!
Glynda pulled out her passkey and swiped it over the lock to JNPR's dorm door, as she twisted the doorknob and pushed it open.
Glynda: Oh... my... gods...
Ren: *Weak with exhaustion* Professor?
Glynda: What happened?
Ren: We took your advice...
Glynda's eyes couldn't unsee the absolute decimation inside JNPR's dorm. All four bed had been reduced to refuse. Lie Ren sat draped in a sheet, leaning against the wall next to the bathroom door.
Glynda: I'm notifying the infirmary.
Glynda's eyes moved to the still form of Pyrrha Nikos. The Invincible Girl. Four Time Mistrailian Champion. Her modesty was being protected by a sheet, but she was so still.
Glynda: Is she... okay?
Ren: She... and... Joan(Jaune)... were... still... active... when... Nora... and... I... passed... out....
Pyrrha: Joan(Jaune) no more... love you...
Glynda: *tapping out as EMT alert on her tablet* This is bad...
Ren: What's... going... on?
Glynda: Ms Arc and Ms Valkyrie have gotten loose in Vale... again, and... and somehow gotten their hands on two old Police Labor Units
Ren: *Regaining some of his strength* Those are... a thing?
Glynda tapped a few notifications and turned her tablet to show Ren, what she was talking about.
Ren: What are they doing?
Pyrrha: Noooo not there... tickles...
Glynda: A Mech-Sumo match would be my guess...
Ren: What are we going to do?
Glynda: *Taking a seat next to Lie Ren* I... I... don't know...

Hi, hello, are you taking writing requests? đ„ș do you think you could write something with Haru? I don't really have anything in mind, so it can be whatever you feel like, fluff, yandere or smut (as long as it doesnt have a sad ending lol) (ïœĄ>ïč<ïœĄ) I'm desperate for some Haru stuff and I love your writing so much!!!
Be careful with snakes!
Haru had the nicest dream/hallucination after being bitten by a snake.
Wc: 1,9k
Notes: I wanted to follow the future family idea we had going on but it didn't end up being as much of a future as it was his inner wishes. But it's cute! Haru just wants a calm and domestic life here.
This took longer than I expected... ndjdj
Chillingly cold winds awaken Haru roughly, seeping through the white cotton button down and hitting his pale skin causing goosebumps. Opening his eyes just enough to see sunlight above him almost completely obscured by the leafy treetops, he comes with the most likely possibility.
âDid I pass out again?â Haru scratches the nape of his neck, he was using his stigma pretty frequently lately and he might have skipped dinner and breakfast before using it today but it was unlikely that he passed out just because he was low on glucose, he has used it in worse condition and came out pretty alive!
Even then, he guesses it's better to cut possible losses short, drag himself to the dorm and do some damage control with the anomalies because it's very unlikely that Towa or Ren suddenly got the calling to help around for once.
Looking around, what does feel unsettling even if just a second is how different the forest area looks compared to the last time he scouted the area. The terrain uncharacteristically steep compared to the usually plain jabberwock and the weirdly vast amount of fir and spruce when most of the trees were oak or anomalous species.Â
Regardless, he brushes off whatever worry he could conceive. It isn't abnormal for Jabberwock to experiment sudden changes to account for new anomalies entering and leaving it, that could easily explain the trees and plants and the geography, while harder to change, it's still possible.
What was more concerning was his overall disorientation, if he could get to his dorm that would be great, did he walk towards or against the sun? He doesn't even remember how he managed to get himself here.
While looking down at the dry and rocky dirt trying to find footsteps a familiar voice presents itself as a better clue.
âHey, stop it, be niceâ the familiar childish reproach that you would tell to the miniature rams when they fought for territory, even when he explained they were totally grown and it was normal for them to fight, reaches his ears and he lets out a sigh in relief, he could at least trust in you to take care of some anomalies even if just for a little while.
As much as he loves his housemates he can't lie and say they are good at anomalously animals husbandry, Towa is quite a ditz and forgets feeding times and what each anomaly can eat -and tends to electrocute them but he doesn't know that- and Ren refuses to work around aquatic areas and if forced to he will audibly whine while doing it.
Still, knowing that you didn't have any real powers to protect yourself if any of the anomalies got rowdy, he decides to slide down the face of the mountain to where your voice is, maybe you will be able to guide him back to the dorm or explain to him what was happening. Sadly, he has to slide normally down the vertiginous terrain without using bahnti, it wouldn't be helpful to black out again and the heaviness settled in his head didn't give him a positive outlook.Â
Angling down his foot just right and working along gravity, Haru starts surfing down a wave of dirt and rocks while dodging the branches and stumps on the way down the slope and soon enough reaches the foot of the mountain with slightly dirty clothes.
At the foot there is a small area blending the sharp and angular mountain range and a somewhat plain surface spotting a cozy cabin. Around it there was a grown up Peekaboo and a log thrown in the dirt, where you were seated holding a white fluff.Â
That was Peekaboo! How did he not notice he wasn't in his baby carrier?! His hand lingers on his abdomen but he doesn't feel the fabric of the carrier, it must have fallen off and you found his little one.
âNatsu, you can't hurry how fast Pukaboo eats, he will get a tummy ache otherwiseâ you tell calmly but firmly to someone behind you. As Haru walks closer he sees a redheaded kid no older than 4 hanging from the same arm holding the bottle.
After walking a few meters away from the thickest part of the forest he seems to have caught your attention finally, if the way your head snapped up is anything to go by. With a smile on your lips you usher the kid away.
âThere is your papa, why don't you help him feed peekabooâ and in 2Â seconds a kid smashes face first against his abdomen and pulls him towards the big white fluff. As it unrolls from the furry sphere, it seems to perk up when it sees him, nudging its head against his leg. As he went to pet it the child pulled his hand back.
âDonât pet him, papa, Peekaboo ate my chia pet! I hate him nowâ at the harsh words the creature whimpers, offended. His Peekaboo does make a habit of eating wild plants whenever Haru isn't monitoring his playtime but this is obviously a grown up of the same species, not a little baby.
âPeekaboo? But this little dude is huge! Peekaboo is small enough to carryâ he laughs while scratching his neck.Â
âHm? Silly papa, Pukaboo is the tiny one, Peekaboo always was bigggâ and almost to make a point the child extends his arms wide on the last word. The grown Peekaboo, supposedly his Peekaboo, keeps looking at him expectantly and tilts his fluffy head in just the same angle his baby would when begging for treats or scratches.
âNatsu, how do you intend to feed peekaboo without food? Go inside and get your dad the lettuce, it's in the kitchen sinkâ now finished feeding what Haru thought was his peekaboo you started walking towards them with the cub in your arms.Â
Natsu slides away, a smile splitting his face in two, such a helpful kid, Haru can't help but think that he almost wishes Ren was as eager to help as him.
Watching as the cub is put down next to its father and how quickly it hurries under his fur to hide from the cold and, without thinking about it, Haru laughs loudly. Even if anomalies weren't pets he himself admitted they were particularly cute when the temperature starts to drop. And they start being less aggressive and bite-y.
âJust like Natsu when he was a baby, don't you think? He would usually fight with Pukaboo to see who snuggled under your armâ in a friendly gesture your elbow him but soon your playful tone turns sober, and your eyes darken with worry âdid something happen? You left before breakfast without even leaving a noteâÂ
He stays uncharacteristically quiet, what could he even say? He doesn't even remember why he was out and about in the first place but you seem to have taken his silence as bad news.
âDid the new specimen not adapt well to here?â
âAh, it's not that!â
With a sigh of relief you giggle âDid the director try to get you to act like a forest ranger for the normal part of the park? He never learns, huh?â linking your arms you start dragging him to the cabin, speaking lightheartedly about what he would like to eat, how you fed the anomalies or how fast Pukaboo and Natsu are growing.
Allowing himself to be dragged inside, into the welcoming warmth emanating from the fireplace and his family, the heavy knots tied inside his muscles relax feeling belonging in the little cozy home.
Hanging by the small foyer, you urge him to take off his muddied mountain boots to not drag dirt inside and he compiles without a word, sliding with his white socks on the hardwood floors.
âDaaaaad, can you help me open this?â the little redhead approaches him jumping with a little tin can on his hands but you snatch it.
âYou can't eat sweets before lunchâ
âBut dad always eats gummies before leavingâÂ
âThose are collagen gummies for his joints, not sweet onesâ The kid pouts and runs off to his room, in response you only roll your eyes and return the treat to the kitchen cabinets âyou need to eat something. There is toast, some cerealâŠâ
âCereal is goodâ it isn't often that he gets hounded to take care of himself, Elias would sometimes tell him off for overexerting himself or peel him apples whenever he inevitably ended up in the infirmary, but the fuzzy tingling in his chest at being taken cared of by someone else tickles a part of his brain so nicely.Â
Allowing himself to be swayed by the arm pulling him into your arms and down to the sofa, he feels coddled like a sick little child.
A hand rakes his hair while both of you look at the empty wall in front of the sofa until a tiny bit squeaky voice whines.
âHey! Don't cuddle without me!â your kid's voice whines as he throws himself at his dad's stomach, attempting to burrow between his parents and almost making the bowl slip from Haru's hands.
âBe careful! You are going to make a mess with the milk!â Even as you chastise him you still throw an end of the blanket over his head, encouraging him to burrow further and you yourself lay your head on Haru's, making a sort of cocoon with hugs and blankets.
Your warm breath as you laugh fans against his skin causing goosebumps but he leans against you, cheek resting against your collarbone and his ear just snug enough against your skin to catch the heartbeat lying under it.Â
âHaru?â You ask him and he lets out an acknowledging hum but you don't relent âHaru? Haru, Haru?â
With each repetition of his name it almost feels like you are getting further and further away from him. It isn't like he would be able to check, his eyelids suddenly weighted down like concrete. Being unable to open his eyes makes Haru notice how the rest of his body is also too heavy to move even one inch.
A heavy hand grasps his forearm, turning it around to show the inner side and pricks the skin to inject something making him progressively harder to hang onto his consciousness. A string of tiny whispers reaches his ears.
âHe still doesn't wake upâÂ
âIf you account for his less than optimal sleep schedule and the hyperpyrexia from the venom it isn't weird he is still out. Why don't you return to class?âÂ
âAre you sure? I would like to see him wake up before leaving thoughâÂ
âLuckily you brought him soon enough but he still needs to restâÂ
The sun is settling down the horizon when Haru wakes up for good, no more fog clouding his mind and his muscles working as he intends. He is able to sit up before a mortkraken student notices he is awake.Â
âOh, good, you are finally upâ
âDid something happen?â
âseems like one of the snake like anomalies bit youâ her eyes screen a piece of paper Haru guesses is his medical record. He does remember having to feed the tsuchinoko hatchlings, it is likely that one of them grew its fangs and bit his ankle without him noticing.
âEven if you are a ghoul you should take care of yourself, you knowâ
Without paying her much mind he says but gets brushed off âI had such a weird dreamâ
âThe venom or the fever might have made you hallucinate, was it at least a nice dream?â
"very nice"Â Â
