Everything you once saw, the brightest of grass and the crops ripe and perfect, and the animals in the barns chirping of happiness— it was all gone. once a happy place you roamed in the summer as a kid was now a abandoned filthy place, old bards with holes and damaged walls. Nothing was what it used to be, the grass was as tall as small trees and it was going to take a lot of lovin.
But if your granddad taught you one thing is that; working for a better future would make everything you did it worth it.
And that’s exactly why you are here, to make your future. Everything in your life was about becoming a farmer, like your grandfather. and like him, you believed hybrids deserved to be in a safe and open land to roam, not such in some metal factory and enclosed to live their life.
“Come join the number one hybrid farm in Japan, The League.” the tv rung in your ears back at the college room, the place had been taking over everything and running all the local and good places out. at one point the only place you probably could work at was The League, since they seemed to be everywhere. “New locations, New Areas, And New Pay. Call the number on your screen for more information.” you had heard the commercial so many times you rolled your eyes everytime.
Never did you believe they would come out here, and be the competition.
Honestly, the first day your body was drained easily from all the work. The labor wasn’t exactly what you were expecting to start off with, moving the rooks and weeding. But you had supplies to start off with thankfully, the money he left you was so much, and ready for a new purpose. But the only thing that was helping you in all of this, your holy grail was a local store owner. Arthur, who happened to be your grandfathers best friend.
slapping the metal truck with the gloved hand, the old man smiled and stepped down from the back of the moving truck. you whipped off the sweat from your skin and catch your breath as the unpacked heavy boxes placed besides you and man.
“The old man used to buy twice as much as this and unload it all him, then complain when his back hurt afterwards. Lucky, he had me to talk some since into him.” the white haired man spoke breathlessly. you didn’t want him to have to help, seeing his age but he was in better shape then you by the looks of things. “Old bat was stubborn, you got that in you kid?”
taking a deep breath you arose from the bend down position you were in and look at the man, smiling a bit you commented back. “Used to give granddad a run for his money, I think I have it in me.” you were earned with a deep chuckle and a small one from yourself. starting back up again you closed the doors and gave the man who drove the truck the okay and he drove away.
the next day was worse then the first, your body was sore and tired, you wore sunscreen all over your body to protect you from the heat damage and the illnesses you could catch. unpacking all the equipment, getting them put together, and make sure the starter crops are taken care of. you took many breaks. and Arthur was the greatest help you could ask for.
you heard the story of how he met your granddad many times before, but you didn’t mind hearing it from his side. Arthur had moved from the United States to start his business with his family, and your grandfather was just started out in town. they were younger and bonded right away, and there for marriages, children and grandchildren. knowing he wasn’t as alone when you left was comforting in a away but you knew the full story. just before your tenth birthday you were moved away from the small town with your parents and left the farm behind.
“He talked about you every day.” The words perked up your ears. You looked at Arthur as he continued to work on a huge fan.
“Everything that happened in your life, he would tell me. What happened at middle school sport events, to dances and even show pictures of the dresses you wore. And man, when you went to college for Hybrid Education he was bursting with energy again.” It’s been a long time since he was able to leave the cabin. You knew that, but knowing still punched you in the guts.
“Was he proud?” asking was a waste of time.
“Proud as hell, there should be no doubt about it. His pride and joy was you, more then anything he did here, and now you have a legacy to continue.” smiling you continue to work to hold yourself from the weight building up in your chest. you missed him so much.
Each day there was something new to fix and call in, you knew granddad was rich from the bank account he left you. but boy, it sure was a lot of money. and now, you finally had a starting point. you had scheduled a barn repair on the electrical and building. the crops were set up along with the sprinklers and scare crows, even cleaned out the well…but not without getting algae all over you.
Smalltowns in the country side where the best, everyone in the community was helpful towards one other. And since The League had a location down the road, the people really came together. Businesses were losing in hybrid projects and animals, but the crops were the same. But this met more hybrids lost there homes, and had to be relocated elsewhere else or to The League…You hated it.
A big wooden sign at one of the joint shop centers made you smile and turn into the lot. today was the weekly event, selling of many things of local produces. you remember coming here as a kid and always getting blueberry jam from the market lady. and just like then, it was crowded. and with a lot of stalls and moving trucks. Arthur had told you they still had them and that you should check it out. of course you wouldn’t miss this for anything.
you shut the truck door and fixed your clothes before started the walk around. everyone was selling amazing things at their booths. the first table you saw was one cover in homemade soap bars and honey products. a sweet older couple ran that shop. some stalls were for hybrids for sale but you didn’t have room for them, at least until the barns are rebuilt. but milk, crops and seeds where your thing anyway to look at.
“how much for this?” the only person behind the table was a young girl who looked angry and ready to chew off your head, it was laughable. she was going to be hard to haggle, but a amazing work ethic. “I don’t know you, so twenty bucks.” your eyes widen and look down at the honey in your hand. it was a very small jar…and not worth it, I mean for the bigger bottles sure.
“Hmm, how about ten?” the small girl glared at your words and huffed. she shook her head in annoyance and pointed to the tag, “you trying to get out of paying hard working people lady? This is the best honey you’ll find in the whole country! Haggling is only for people I know,” her finger pointed at you and you back up a little at her shouting voice. “And you ain’t it!”
signing you pull out a twenty and handed it to her, she smiles so kindly you forget about the anger she had. placing it in your cloth bag you continue walking down the path, smiling and looking around. not much you could buy yet, though you did buy from groceries and loaded the up in the bed of the truck.
“well if it ain’t the talk of the town,” a sweet woman’s voice called out loudly. you turn your gaze and see a almost forgotten face, but one that filled you with joy and nostalgia. “Aunty Hoshiko.” You scream and rush over, the older woman comes out form her booth and takes you into her arms. only now did you realize the sweet small of jam and the jar’s decorated like they used to be, but this area was bigger and a extra tent was behind it.
“I couldn’t believe you moved back here after moving to the city, heard you got into a good college.” She smiled from cheek to cheek while pulling away. “Why come back here?” it was flattering how much she thought of you, but you couldn’t have stayed away from this place for much longer.
“Well, grandpa left me the farm and I needed to start my new life. Can’t get much better then a already laid for land, and with great soil.” she hummed but her eyes dropped a little and her smile became different. “I’m so sorry, he was a good man. you tell me if you need any help okay? Your granddad helped us a lot, so many people in town will be willing to do help too.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” you smile and take a peek at the table, “mind if I look?” she is excited to show you all the new flavors and jars she has, letting you smell each one. she even offers you a discount for family.
you had a few jams picked out but you keep looking at everything, knowing you’ll come home with more. then there was a sign and paperwork around on a tables end.“Hybrid Rescues” is what you read and your hands reached for it immediately. seeing your interested, Hoshiko started to talk.
“The League has been running out businesses, hybrids are either purchased or…end up alone and abandoned. My friend runs a rescue company, we help her out here trying to give some of them a home.” you clinch the paper in your hand and want both more then to go punch the owners of the company. No hybrid deserves to be left alone.
“I usually have a few here with me, but today only one is for sale. He’s very special. And a house animal, or helper if you will since I know you don’t have much room for more yet.” the next step was to always get hybrids, but you weren’t sure if today was the best idea today…
“Oh!” that wasn’t your choice since she pulled your arm and lend you into the tent where only one hybrids sat. you struggled to look away from the hybrid laying in the floor.
He was huge. he looked peaceful tho, curled up on a bed and resting peacefully. he had long and pointed ears, a middle tail that curled. “he’s a special breed, no idea why they didn’t keep him since he must have cost a fortune.” there was a small scar on his arm and you hated to see, it looked like cattle whip strokes.
“tenya,” she called out quietly to wake the dog. you really didn’t know if you should get a hybrid, but seeing him already you knew you couldn’t say no. his furry ears twitched and his body rolled over ready to see what was happening. he was fast, and he was built. a pure breed for herding and hard labor. “I have someone here who needs a dog to help around the farm.” she patted you on the back and you got shy for some reason.
His tail was sticking up, his eyes glancing over and panicked. he was on high alert. “Hey buddy, my names y/n.” You smile softly. You don’t want to move until he gives you a sign. his nose sniffs into the air for a moment and his body freezes, you both stop for a minute too.
until the thumping of his tail was heard and he jumped up to greet you properly. you are taken aback and he gets excited and starts to shout, you can’t help but to smile. “My names Tenya, I am apart of the Iida breed. I have experience in herding, working and defending territory. I have many skills,” his hands reaches for hers and stuffs it into his nose to get a proper smell.
“Hello to you too,” you giggle. having some help now would be good, and a herding dog would the best thing.
“Tell me iida, are you okay with maybe coming home with me?” if it was only a dog he would for sure be jumping on you from how happy he seems to be.
Iida didn’t want you to leave to get things needed, saying it was his job to be with you now but you need to find food and things before leaving. he whined forever until he saw you again.
you came back to get him…like you said you would. he loved you, loved you so much. the kindest human he’s met.
Riding back to the farm was a journey. he was talking every second about all the things he could do, from each animal, hybrid or not. boy, was so happy to be by your side. and he was asking about you too. why you picked him? what you wanted him to do.
your heart broke once you got back to the cabin.
you held the door open and called for him to come in, but he just stood on the porch looking at you almost guilty. “Hybrids aren’t aloud inside, I must protect you from out here.” he was already looking for a place to set up for the night. it was a miracle you didn’t start crying again.
“Well, whoever told you that was a idiot. Many dog hybrids are aloud inside, and it’s my house so my roles go.” you tap the door again. he was hesitant, and it took about ten minutes to get him inside. and you told him to stay put while you get the things from the car…then told him it was a order to get him to stay.
you placed the things on the floor and smiled, proud of yourself. “Okay, so I got a large mattress for you. We can place it anywhere you want, also got you special food, hybrids approved.” he looked at the mattress for a long minute. Iida couldn’t believe it was his, he hadn’t slept on one of them since he was little, and then at the market earlier. And this one was his, made for his height and weight for him to sleep…inside.
“Your bought this for me?” He asked while poking at the bed, it’s softness amazed him. once he accepted his reality his tail starts to swing like crazy and crawled over to you, and hugged you lovingly.
“I’ll be the best boy I promise. anything you need I will do, anything.” his grip tightened around your waist and pushed his head into your plush stomach. you patted his head and thanked him, and told him he deserved to be loved and cared for.
That night, he placed his bed in front of your bedroom door and stood watch in his bed. to protect you, his master…his.

Weed and sex... in a car. With 3 time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen. What could possibly go wrong?
Warnings: use of drugs, smut, PinV sex, fingering, squirting, Christian Horner
Part 2 here.
Perhaps getting high before an event wasn't the best idea after all. Max had decided to celebrate your birthday with a joint (or two or three) before going to dinner with Christian, Gerri and a boatload of sponsors and higher ups.
Anyone with half a brain could have told you this could only end in disaster but when you and Max were together you were a couple of menaces.
That's why Max's press officer hated that you were always around at the races and usually his plus one at events. She had a hell of a time covering up the "incidents" and "behaviours unbecoming of a formula one world champion"... ha! Yeah right.
Between public indecency and and drunken shenanigans usually leading to property damage, it was a miracle the two of you had never been arrested to be honest.
Well except that one time after his first Monaco win but that's a story for another time.
Whatever, what else are rich people in their twenties supposed to do with their best friends in their free time anyway?
So there you were, in the passenger seat of Max's loaned company car, both high on expensive weed (or so Max said, the bloody cheapskate). The drive was pretty long and you got a rather intense case of the munchies about 20 minutes in so Max decided to stop for gas while you went into the gas station and bought snacks for the road. When you turned your head away from the cashier and saw max, your mouth went dry (and this time not from the weed).
See, this was in the middle of a heatwave (thanks climate change!) and max was wearing a suit. He decided that the best way to cool down was to unbutton his shirt and let his chest get some air. Unfortunately this, plus his sweaty dishevelled hair and the joint he still had in his mouth while he pumped gas, conjured up quite a few lewd images in your mind. You had never seen him look quite this debauched (again, except in Monaco but again, that's for another time). The sight was positively sinful. Or at least it seemed hot as fuck to you but you were high so who knows, either way his appearance was getting you hot and bothered, so you decided to take a picture to remember the moment.
The cashier had to clear her throat loudly to get your attention, and by the time you had payed and left Max had already got back in the car. When you climbed in you checked your reflection in the mirrors. Dilated pupils, check. Redness around the eyes, check. There was no way Christian wouldn't notice, and he definitely would not be happy.
Max's hand suddenly on your thigh brought you out of your thoughts as you looked at him, he looked just as fucked up as you felt.
"There's no way we can go to dinner like this right?" He was panting slightly and looked like he was fighting to stay alive.
"I don't think so, you wanna call Christian and cancel?"
"Nooo he's gonna kill me" He pouted as he took his hand off you to roll down the window to let some air in.
Weirdly you found that you missed its comforting presence on your thigh. And the image of it going higher suddenly entered your mind. That thought made you panic a bit, seeing as you had never had those kind of thoughts about Max. (Well, does it bear repeating? Monaco. Yeah).
Still panting, with his head out of the window like a dog, he groaned. "I don't think I can drive like this. Are you having a weird reaction to the weed?"
"Um... a bit, I guess. I'm hot and uh..." you trailed off and max looked at you
"And what?"
"No it's embarrassing"
"No tell me! What is it"
You looked at him for a moment, the two of you breathing harder than normal, both fighting something.
"Well..." you gulped "I guess I'm like, horny? But, I always get horny when I smoke, this is like... more intense? Different sensations I guess."
Max exhaled and closed his eyes, leaning his head against the headrest.
"Me too" he whispered in an oddly strained way. Then his eyes suddenly snapped open "Wait a minute! Are you telling me you've been horny every time we've gotten high together?!"
Shit.
"Uhhh, yeah?"
You noticed Max was squirming in his seat a little bit.
"Fuck, that's- why didn't you tell me?"
You stared at him. Was this really how the conversation was going to go?
" I- don't know I guess... I thought you wouldn't be interested?"
"Are you serious? I wouldn't be interested?! Even after MONACO?!"
"We're best friends Max, I don't wanna lose that. And we've never actually talked about Monaco so I assumed you wanted to forget it!"
"Forg- Forget it?! It's been three years and I haven't stopped thinking about it!"
"Oh"
"Yeah, oh!"
"Fuck"
"Only if you want to"
"What?"
He looked at you, eyes scanning your face, gaze dropping to your lips.
"We're both high and horny in a car right now, do you want to fuck me?"
You were taken aback slighly, Max was nothing if not straightforward, it was one of the things you loved about him.
"Max, I've wanted to fuck you since we were-"
Thats all he needed to hear before grabbing your hair and yanking your upper body towards him. Given both of your states it was more licking at each others mouths than actual kissing but this had been a long time coming you supposed and you were both too high to care.
You broke away and climbed between the seats into the backseat, winking at him as he gawked at your ass, barely covered by your pathetic excuse for a dress. "You joining me then, or leaving me to take care of myself?"
"Fuck no" He growled and crawled in after you. In hindsight it would have been easier and quicker to use the car doors, but he finally made it and it took you a while to find a position that wasn't too uncomfortable in the small space.
You ended up on his lap, back to his chest while he pulled down the straps of your dress and kissed your neck sofly. He squeezed your tits gently while whispering in your ear. "You know, since Monaco I've been dreaming of the day I would see you like this again. I was starting to think It never even happend. Like it was some kind of religious experience or something"
You giggled. What a sap. "If I had known that's how you felt I would have let you do this years ago. But could you get a move on please? I feel like I'm going to go insane if y-"
He cut you off by shoving his fingers in your mouth and pressing down on your tongue. You moaned at the intrusion and sucked on his fingers to get them nice and wet.
"Good girl"
Your eyes rolled back as you leaned back against him and he chuckled.
"See, I did learn some things in Monaco"
He spread your legs which were hooked over his and trailed his now wet fingers down over your chest and stomach, as his other hand slid your panties to the side. The moment he made contact with your clit you jolted slightly in his grasp. Being horny for so long must have made you extra sensitive. And wet. It didn't take Max long to slide two fingers into you with ease as he crooked them immediately and you whimpered. Every movement, every press of his fingers felt like heaven and you could already feel that you weren't going to last long.
Before you could say anything though, Max's phone started ringing from the floor. He picked it up, fingers still making you writhe on his lap and answered the call, the absolute madman.
Then he pressed the phone to your ear and whispered in the other "Go on then schatje, talk to Christian, I'm a bit busy right now"
"What the FUCK Max where the hell are you?! You were supposed to be here an hour ago! I'm going to kill you when you get here!"
You had to swallow down your moans in order to answer "Um hi Christian it's- it's me!" You squeaked out "Um we won't be making it unfortunately- Max- Max has indegestion and he's very ill and- aaah- he's- um he's-"
You were so close to the edge and Max showed no signs of stopping, you were becoming unintelligible under his skilled fingers.
"This is unacceptable behaviour! What the fuck have you done to him now?! It's always you causing proble-"
The rest of his sentence was drowned out as you came hard around Max's fingers (when did he slip a 3rd one in?!) and you moaned loudly before Max could slap a hand over your mouth.
As you came down the silence on the line was deafening.
"Wh-"
Max interjected "We got high Christian I can't drive!" and hung up. "He won't be calling again I reckon"
You couldn't help but giggle. "Oh my GOD Max we're gonna be in so much trouble! Christian is gonna kill me because I made you miss an important dinner and- oh my god he just heard me have an orgasm that is your BOSS- fucking hell Max what were-"
You hadn't noticed that during your rambling he had unbuckled his pants and taken his dick out, but as soon as he started rubbing the tip against your folds you stopped dead.
He chuckled "Fuck Christian, I wouldn't miss this for the world"
And with that he slid in to the hilt, punching a gasped moan out of you, and started pounding into you deep and fast, somehow reaching all the right spots immediately. The build up to this one felt different. It was faster and more intense, and you were speechless. You realised too late what was about about to happen as you started dripping onto his thighs. Then the flow got heavier and Max swore as his hips stuttered, his own orgasm taking him by surprise. He stopped, still inside you and you felt drained, literally.
You stayed like that for a minute, both of you catching your breaths as you came to the realisation... "Max, fuck! the car!"
"Fuck the car. I'll send the fee to Christian"
You huffed in disbelief. He was out of his mind. But for now it was just the two of you, in this now ruined car, drugs just starting to wear off, and that was enough for tonight, you needed to go home and sleep it off. You could worry about the consequences later.
"So... exactly how expensive was that weed?"

It was supposed to be just a quick walkthrough of the little farmers market out in the country. A little Easter egg event for the dogs, at least that’s what you saw on the event listed online. That’s why you were standing in the warm spring air, your Great Pyrenees hooked to his leash, the soft summer dress blowing against your creamy thighs. That’s all it was supposed to be. A fun, relaxing event. That is, until you saw him.
A man that stood over six feet tall, yellow flannel buttoned up against tanned, strong arms, sleeves rolled up so you could see the thick veins that twisted down his forearms, large hands that could do some damage with an axe. And he was so fucking broad. And his eyes. Honeysuckle, warm heaven that clashed with his golden flannel.
You weren’t supposed to keep staring at him, weren’t supposed to even talk to him, but all that came crashing down the moment he walked over and spoke those first Southern drawled words to you, slipping like warm butter right down your tongue and that was it. You were completely fucked.
And that’s how you ended up in the back of his property, caged between his strong arms, your back pressed against an old oak tree, your sundress hiked above your hips, one leg hooked over his broad shoulder, the other clasped around his muscular back.
Your mouths latched together in messy, wet kisses. Your tongues lapped against each other’s in a burning hunger you couldn’t control. His fingers twisted against your messy curls as his thick cock rutted up inside you, the slick sliding down his long length as he stretched you wide and bottomed out again and again until you could barely stand the heat.
His mouth moved to your collarbone, his teeth nipping and sucking as your fingers ran through his tousled curls, your lips parting as the side of your face scratched up against his salt-and-pepper beard as your moans carried to the shell of his ear. You could feel yourself getting closer with every inch of his cock sliding against your sticky walls, the heat building in your spine as you dug your fingers into the back of his neck.
“Go on, come for me, darlin’. Squeezin’ me so fuckin’ tight. Know you’re close. Tell me who makes you feel good, sweetheart. Let me hear it,” he purred into your ear as you felt yourself lose all control the moment he moved his calloused thumb down to your puffy clit and started making slow circles against your burning heat.
“Oh fuck, Joel. You do. You make me feel good. Ahh.” He pressed down harder, quickening the pace of his thumb and cock as he bottomed out inside you, moving to a position where he hit that sweet, spongy spot that made you see stars.
“Joel, I’m gonna-fuck, gonna come,” you whined, feeling your orgasm start to take over as your walls squeezed against his thick cock.
“Fuck,” he growled as his fingers dug into your hips, “that’s a good fuckin’ girl. So good, sweetheart, Goddamn,” he groaned as you spilled your slick all over him.
“Joel,” you cried as you closed your eyes and buried your face into the crook of his neck, feeling white hot heat spill from your center as your body shook through the intense orgasm.
“Mmm, that’s my good girl. Gonna fill ya up next. That what you want, sweetheart? Want my come inside that pretty pussy of yours?” he asked as he sped up his motions, drilling his cock inside you as you felt him bottom out again and again and again.
“Yes, please,” you begged as you moved your forehead against his as he lapped against your crimson cheek.
“That’s what I thought,” he smirked. Once, twice, three more times and he was spilling his seed inside you, warm ropes of come painting your walls as he stilled inside you and moaned into the base of your ear, his ragged breaths blowing hot against your jawline.
“Christ, sweetheart. Ain’t you the sweetest surprise I’ve ever had the pleasure of meetin’,” he smiled against your lips, his mouth brushing up against yours. “Am I gonna see ya again?”
“Oh, yeah. You’ll definitely see me again, Miller,” you teased as he pushed you back up against the tree and pulled your hair back.
“How’s about round two then, darlin’?”
And that’s exactly what you did.

- HALLOWEEN NIGHT ⋆☆ 𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐲𝐥 𝐝𝐢𝐱𝐨𝐧 𝐱 𝐟𝐞𝐦!𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫
warnings - not really any? its just hella short im so sorry it was meant to be published for halloween, and i planned on writing so much more but writers block has me in a chokehold 😔
brown and deep auburn leaves crunched beneath your feet as you snuck around to the back of the dixons home. it was a small cabin in a remote part of town, the walls were damaged after years of neglect and piles of junk and rusted motorbike parts surrounded the walls and surrounding land.
you had been a neighbour to the dixons for a few years now. william dixon and his two sons had moved in a few years prior after the death of his wife who died in a house fire. it took his sons, merle and daryl a few months to warm up but after a few failed attempts of merle trying to hit on you and the odd occasion you’d actually get a more then a few words out of daryl, the three of you have been inseparable since.
tonight was halloween night. you had rented some movies from the near by town and picked up some discounted candy before sneaking your way onto the dixon property. william dixon wasn’t all too fond of guests, especially when it was a young girl around his sons.
approaching the back of the cabin you swung your bag over your shoulder before stepping up onto a few chopped logged stacked up against the wall, you tapped on the window a few times before peering inside.
“dixon!” you whispered, finally catching his attention.
looking up from his box tv that looked like it belonged in the eighties, a smile flashed across his face as he stood up to open the small window. “you’re late.” he spoke softly, taking the tapes and candy from you.
pushing the plastic bag through the window you let out a sigh of frustration. “it would have been quicker if you or your idiot brother gave me a ride.” you mumbled, beginning to hoist yourself upwards through the small window.
“merle dicked off to some party.” daryl spat bitterly as he helped your through the window. “saw it as an opportunity.” he said raising his eyebrows before wandering back to the couch. daryl began to look through the bag of tapes and candy, pulling everything out one by one. “these are all horror movies.” he scoffed.
dropped down to sit beside daryl you let out a quiet laugh, taking the tapes from daryls hands. “it’s halloween dixon, its like the law to watch scary movies on halloween.”
“night of the living dead?” daryl chuckled, looking at back of the tape to read the movies description. “for reasons unknown, the recently deceased are,” he paused for a second to let out a laugh before continuing. “are raising from the grave as flesh-hungry zombies. fleeing from the undead horde- this sounds so stupid.” he laughed, passing the tape to you before looking through the mixture of candy.
“it’s not stupid!” you exclaimed, “its a classic.” you added, standing up to put the tape in the vcr.
“a classic?” daryl scoffed, opening a bag of chips. “ridiculous.” he mumbled.
you giggled, sitting back down beside daryl. “you’re ridiculous.” you quipped, grabbing the remote to turn up the volume.
leaning your head up against his shoulder as you took a small hand full of chips from the bag sitting on his lap. as the opening credits of the film began to play, you and daryl settled in for the night.
around you the room slowly grew dark as the sun set beyond the georgian mountains. the soft glow of the television was enough for you to see the soft outlines of daryls face as he tentatively watched the movie.
“yer payin’ attention to the movie?” daryl huffed, not taking his eyes off the screen.
you sat up, letting out a soft giggle looking at daryl as he finally pulled his eyes away from the screen.
“you got eyes in the side of ya head or somethin’?” you asked, causing a smile to creep onto daryls lips. you were met with a scoff causing you to roll your eyes. “i was just makin’ sure you were watchin’ the movie.” you informed him, lying through your teeth.
daryl had been a long time crush that had been slowly, and deeply festering since you’d first met him. it was something unrecognizable at first, your heart would skip a beat or your cheeks would flush a deep shade of pink and slowly it turned into flirty comments from one another to lingering touches. but something you didn’t quite realize yet, was that daryl had been yearning for you.
every waking moment of his day you were always on his mind. if he wasn’t with you, he’d be thinking about you, thinking about what the two of you could be if he had the balls to make you his own. in fact, daryl had been thinking of halloween night for weeks. he had been subtly hinting to merle about a party in town and when he finally took the bait, daryl knew that he had to do something. tonight was the night.
the stillness in the room was palpable. the film slowly drifted into the background and all you could focus on, was daryls face under the soft moon light peaking through the dirty cabin windows. you both slowly leaned in toward each other. daryl could smell the strawberry shampoo you use, and it drove him near insanity. he had longed to touch, and hold you for so long and now you were finally close enough for it to happen, and he wouldn’t back out this time!

Matters Of The Heart
This was a request messaged to me by @lonewolf830. I am going to try to drag this out and make a little longer story out of your idea. I hope you like the direction it goes!
Pairings: Scott/F.Reader(Scott is an ass), future Tyler/F.Reader
Warnings: A few swear words. Tornado damage. (Future Chapters will have Whump, hurt/comfort, and angst.) Inaccurate weather stuff
Summary: You are new to Storm Par and Tyler Owens is already chasing you. Scott has already asked you out on a date and warned you against Tyler, so you brush off Tyler, believing everything Scott has told you. However, when you are put in danger, it's always Tyler running to your rescue. You begin to wonder if maybe Tyler isn't all that bad after all.
Chapter 1
You were standing in the parking lot, gazing out over the horizon at the building storm clouds. The wind gently blew though your hair. A large group of storm chasers were gathering in preparation for the upcoming expected tornado outbreak across Oklahoma. This was your first day on the job with the Storm Par company. Your job was to track the storm's location and they were to follow it, gather information, and for reason's you didn't yet understand, you were suppose to help get property information on the places that got destroyed.
The sudden blare of country music filled the air along with the roar of an engine. You look up to see a red Dodge Ram pull in followed by a van and RV. A guy in a white cowboy hat and sun glasses gets out as a crowd surround the truck.
“If you feel it....” he yelled.
“CHASE IT!!!” the crowd yells back.
“I said IF YOU FEEL IT....” He yelled a little louder and the crowd responded with “CHASE IT!”
You watched for a few moments as he was laughing and signing autographs as he posed for photos.
“Alright you tornado nerds!” a woman yelled from the RV, holding some shirts up. Everyone flocked to her with money in hand.
You shook your wondering what kind of crazy that group of storm chasers were, and why did it seem like everyone loved them so much. The wind shifted and you turned your attention back to the sky.
“Hey. I'm Tyler. You new to chasing?” a deep voice came from behind.
You turned to see the guy in the white cowboy hat that was just surrounded by a group of fans. You couldn't help but notice the sparkle in his green eyes when he took off his glasses, or the way he smiled, the stumbled face.
“Yeah, first day.” you gave him a soft smile, “I am Y/N.” you extend a hand to him.
His rough callused hand felt strong and warm, yet tender as he shook your hand, “What team you with?” he asked.
“Storm Par.”
“Oh...them.” Tyler rolled his eyes. “You can do better then that, you know.”
“What's wrong with Storm Par? They seem like a really nice company, and the pay is great.”
“Y/N! Let's go!” Scott, your partner barked from across the parking lot.
“Well, gotta go.” you gave Tyler another smile. “It was really nice to meet you. You seem to have quite the following.”
“I do.” he nodded and tipped his cowboy hat at you, “Nice to meet you too, Y/N.”
Standing there, he watched you walk away, his eyes following the movement of your butt swaying. 'Hope to see you again soon.' he thought to himself.
“Hey.” you call to Scott as you get in the truck, “Looks like we need to head west.”
“What the hell were you doing talking to Owens?” Scott yelled, causing you to jump.
“Owens? His name was Tyler.” you say, a bit startled, “He was just being nice, introducing himself.”
“Tyler OWENS is his name, and he's nothing but trouble. Stay away from him.” Scott muttered, looking at the data on the laptop you held. “You sure about the west? I think the East holds more promise.” he muttered.
“Go west. Trust me.” you smile at him.
“Fine. West it is. But if you're wrong, it's your ass. Not mine.” He sped out of the parking lot.
“Come on. Let's go.” Tyler jumped into the truck, seeing the same thing you just had. “We're going west.”
“What's so wrong with Tyler?” you ask once on the road.
“He's Mr. YouTube star. He sells merch to make a buck off of everyone. He's got a new girl every night it seems. He thinks he's some Mr. Big shot, better then everyone else. He reels you in with that Mr. Nice Guy act and then he uses you for whatever you're good for and tosses you out like trash.”
“Oh.” you are taken aback by Scott's harsh words. Tyler didn't come across as that type of person from your first meeting, but...that was one meeting. He was selling stuff and he did have a large following. You could believe what Scott was telling you. After all, Scott had been doing this for several years and probably knew Tyler a lot better then you would have from just a quick meeting. “Thanks for the warning.” you gave a smile to Scott.
“Oh come on, you didn't actually fall for his act? Did you?” Scott looked over at you with a look of disbelief.
“Well...I mean...he wasn't bad to look at and he was nice.” you grin with a shrug.
“Really, Y/N? I thought you were smarter then that.”
“Make a right here.” you say. “I was just going off my first impression. I am sure I would have figured him out pretty quickly on my own...but seriously, thank you for the warning. I can avoid that heartbreak.”
Scott pulls off to the right and follows a dirt road. “Avoid him all together. He's bad news.” he muttered, “Hey, if you want to go out and have a good time, let me know. I'll take you out. I am not a womanizer like he is.”
“Oh, is that so?” you grin, “You mean to tell me someone as nice looking as you doesn't have a girlfriend?”
“Nope.” Scott shook his head, “Not many girls want to go chasing after tornadoes.” he shoots you a look, his eyes seemly undressing you and he grins, “What you say, sweetie? Go out with me tonight?”
You shrug, “Okay, sure. If it's not against company policy or anything.”
“Not at all.” Scott grins, “We'll go down to the Reno bar tonight. It's right down the road from the hotel. Sound good?”
“Sure...” you start to say and then scream, “SCOTT! WATCH OUT!”
Music blasts from the speakers as Tyler's red Dodge Ram cuts you off. He is yelling something at you, but over the music and Scott cussing, you can't hear what it is...you don't really care at the moment.
“Asshole!” Scott was yelling as he fought to get the truck back on the road.
Suddenly, Tyler turned his truck sideways, blocking your path.
“What the HELL man!” Scott rolls down his window yelling.
“TURN AROUND! It's an EF 5 up ahead! Check your data again. You can't drive THAT truck into an EF5! I wouldn't drive MY truck into one. TURN AROUND!” Tyler yelled.
“Fuck you man!” Scott tried to drive around but Tyler pulled forward, bumping into the white Storm Par truck.
“Listen, if you want to get yourself killed, go for it! But don't be taking her into that!” Tyler yelled, his eyes locking on yours. “Y/N, check the data. Am I right?”
You frantically punch the keys on the laptop refreshing the screen. “Oh my God.” you gasp. “Scott, he's right. It's MASSIVE! We gotta turn around.”
“Fine...Whatever.” Scott turns the truck around and glares at you, “Why the hell did you tell me to go this way if it's an EF5! YOU told me to turn right. I did that!”
“It wasn't that big when I checked it last! It just blew up!” you try to defend yourself. This was a great first impression. “Sorry.” you muttered.
“Just...pay more attention next time.” he said.
“I will.” you mutter, refreshing the feed again on the laptop, “Looks like the tornado is moving to the west. It's out of the town now. We should go back there and see if we can be of any help. I can't imagine the destruction..”
Scott pulls the truck into a parking lot and glares at you, “If you are going to work with Storm Par, you've got to understand time is money. We don't get paid to help people. We get paid for the storm data, we get paid for the property data...we don't get paid to help. That's someone else's job...not ours.”
You nod and he turns around heading back into town. As you drive though, you see houses and businesses completely leveled. You notice Tyler's truck parked among the rumble and he was climbing over a destroyed house calling for what you guessed was a dog. The woman from the RV was selling stuff from the back of it and another girl was walking around with food and water, passing them out.
It looked like they were helping, but you also could see what Scott said about them selling stuff was true.
“It's all a show.” Scott's voice cuts into your thoughts. “They brag about how much they help so they can get more money from their followers and more people will want to buy shirts. They aren't really helping, they're only promoting themselves.” he scoffed.
You sigh as he stops the truck, “Here. Go give our card to everyone who's lost their home or business. Tell them we make cash offers for their properties. Get information from all who are interested and then run some numbers for us. See what the property value is and make sure we find out what kind of insurance they have.”
“Scott, are you sure this is the right time for that? I mean, they JUST lost everything...should we really be swooping in offering to buy whatever they have left?” you frown. Your heart broke for these people and this idea just wasn't sitting right with you.
“It's our job. It's what we do.” Scott sighed, “Seriously Y/N. I thought you were excited about this job! So far all you've done was almost got us killed and complained! If we don't get to them now someone else will and we will lose out on that money.”
“Alright. You're right. I am sorry. I am just trying to learn this job.” you sigh and get out of the truck, walking up to a lady and introducing yourself. She was in tears. “I am so sorry. If you need anything, call us at Storm Par.” you give her a hug. “Did you have insurance on the house?”
“No.” the woman cried shaking her head.
“I am so sorry.” your heart broke for her, “Storm Par would be willing to make a cash offer on your land. If that's the road you want to take, give us a call.”
“Okay.” she mumbled, and walked away calling for her cat.
“Hey, Y/N...close call there.” Tyler jogged up to your side. “You okay?”
“Yeah. Thank you. For stopping us. It's my fault, I should have been paying attention.”
Tyler frowned, “It's not your fault. That storm just exploded. We were following it too. It didn't look that big and then wham, all of a sudden it was a monster. Once you guys got turned around we drove on into town to try to warn as many people as possible and get them into shelter.”
You nod, “And sell your brand, I see.”
“What's that suppose to mean?” Tyler frowned.
“Don't worry. Scott told me all about you and what you do.” you turn and walk away in a huff.
“Did he also tell you what Storm Par is all about?” Tyler yelled after you.
“Hey there, beautiful.” Scott runs up to you after seeing that you were talking to Tyler, “Is he bothering you again?”
“Nothing I can't handle.” you smile at Scott, “I am really sorry I messed things up before.”
“It's okay. It's your first day. You'll learn. What did you find out on the properties?” he asked.
“That lady there has no insurance. I gave her a card and told her Storm Par would be interested.”
“Good girl. See, you're getting it.” Scott pulls you into a hug and looks back to see Tyler glaring at him. He gives you a quick kiss on the cheek, “I am looking forward to our date tonight.”
You blush slightly as Scott winks at you and jogs back to the truck.
“Hey, you want water or food or anything?” A girl asks. You recognize her as one of the people on Tyler's crew. “No, I am good. I am not giving you any money.”
“It's not about the money. We give away food and water when we get to a disaster scene. That's why we sell the merchandise. We sell to those who are able to afford to buy it. We give to those who can not. We give away almost as many shirts as we sell. The money we get from the sales goes to buy food and water for the victims and volunteers helping.”
“Oh. I had heard something different.” you say, “I am still okay. We've got stuff back in the truck and I am heading there to run some numbers for them.”
“Okay, whatever. If you change your mind come on over. We have plenty.” she walked away, handing out a sandwich and water to the woman you spoke to earlier.
You walk slowly back to the truck and get in, hearing Scott talking to someone on the phone about buying properties and who didn't have good insurance and those who did. Scott hanged up and gave you smile. “Let's go get something to eat.”
“I don't think that's a great idea right now.” you say, looking at the radar. “Look, this cell to the south is looking bad.”
Scott glances at it and shrugs, “I've seen worse. Let's go. I am hungry.”
Tyler looks at the sky to the south and watches as Scott turns and heads directly into the oncoming storm.
“Shit.” he muttered, then turned and waved at his team. “I'll be back in a bit.” he called and ran to his truck, firing it up and taking off after you and Scott. He didn't care if Scott wanted to get himself killed, but he'd be damned if he was going to let you be put in danger because of it.

PETERKIN SLAMMED HER OFFICE DOOR SHUT. You sat in the chair across from her personal one, avoiding her eyes as she sat on the wood of the desk. “Y’know, I expected to see your friend in here. But not you.” The woman started. “Especially not with a felony as your first offense. Felony destruction of property could get you tried as an adult.”
You remained silent, fiddling with your fingernails as she tried to intimidate you with an unwavering stare. A common interrogation tactic, you learned that from your mother.
“Unlawful discharge of a firearm, trespass on protected habitat, felony destruction. Those are all Maybank’s charges, your little partner in crime?” She listed off. “I want you to take a trip with me into uncharted territory — your future. Picture this,” She started, leaning in further. “You, six months from now, sittin’ in juvie in Wadesboro, just a cell block away from the Maybank boy.”
You cringed at the thought, eyes finally looking at the Sheriff in front of you. She pulled out two papers from a manilla folder, laying them out in front of you. “You seen these guys? You know ‘em?” She inquired, crossing her arms over her chest as your eyes scanned the pictures.
They were mugshots of the square groupers. But you remained silent, jaw clenched and eyes stoic. “Do I need to repeat myself?” Her voice was lower now. You pondered for a few moments, should you tell her or keep quiet? But you figured the damage was already done.
“They…broke into John B’s house, trashed the place. They chased us through The Marsh, too.” You told her, making eye contact with the older woman now and scratching the back of your neck.
She huffed under her breath, pulling more documents from the folder. “Here’s a more recent photo.” She laid them out, the photos presented to you almost made you gag. They were autopsy images of the groupers — deep slashes, pale skin, and bloated bodies. “Somebody gaffed ‘em, then used ‘em for chum. Whoever killed these men is still out there, and I got pretty solid reasons to believe their next target is that friend of yours. John B?” She told you.
Then, she was leaning down so close that her lips were right next to your ear but you didn’t move. “You kids don’t think you’re the only ones after the Royal Merchant, do you?” Your eyes flicked over to hers, staring at the woman through hooded lids. “Yeah, I know about that, too.” She muttered before getting up and rounding the desk again, placing herself behind it.
“He isn’t looking for it, anymore.” You blurted, straightening in the metal chair. “Okay? He’s done.”
“Yeah, your friend said the same thing when I had him in here. I’m just tryna keep him safe. So, I’m gonna tell you the same thing I told him. See if your friend John B is interested in talkin’ to me and maybe we can keep you out of Wadesboro.” She snipped, shuffling the documents back into her folder and leaving the office.
“ARE YOU HER GUARDIAN?” The officer behind the reception desk asked, your mother shuffling with her purse angrily on the other side of the glass as you stood behind her.
“Unfortunately. I’m her mother.” She snapped, sending a nasty glare your way that you rolled your eyes in response to.
“Hearing will be in two weeks. If you fail to show up, you forfeit your bail.” The lady-officer informed, not even offering up a glance. “The restitution will be based on the average of three outside estimates of the cost of the damaged article. Sign right here, please...” She instructed, shoving the clipboard through the glass-slot.
You squinted your eyes harshly and sighed. You didn’t even think about restitution and your were praying that Topper’s boat wasn’t crazy expensive. You could faintly hear your mother muttering under her breath as she absentmindedly scribbled her signature on the bottom of the papers, spinning the clipboard back around to the officer before turning on her heels to face you.
“Let’s go. Now.” Her pumps clacked against the precinct floors, the woman practically throwing the Sheriff Station doors open. You followed closely behind, throwing your slightly matted hair into a ponytail. The jailhouse look was not your best one. “So, when I told you about the Thornton’s boat you just neglected to mention that you were the one that did it?”
You yawned as you tried to keep up with her pace, too tired to respond sensibly. “Yeah, I guess…”
She chuckled with no humor behind it. “The least you could do is pretend to care. The only reason I’m not going to make you pay this restitution your damn self is because I don’t need this becoming a bigger issue than it already is. Do you think I need the entirety of Figure Eight knowing my daughter’s facing a felony charge against one of the most prominent families on the island?”
“Right…” You dragged out, licking the bottom of your front teeth. “Because God forbid the Cul de sac finds out I sunk a boat after getting roundhouse kicked in the ribs...”
Your mother sighed, stopping on the driver’s side of her sleek, black SUV as your rounded the passenger side. Just then, you spotted JJ walking with his father, who you hadn’t seen in God knows how long. Your mother seemed to follow your line of vision, wagging her finger from the other side of the car.
“No. You?” She pointed. “You stay away from that boy, do you hear me? You stay away from all of those pogues.”
“Are you serious? He’s my best friend.”
“Yeah, well not today, he isn’t. Get in the damn car.” She spat, yanking her own door open and jumping inside before slamming it shut. You stood with your hand on the handle, watching JJ hesitantly get in the car with his father. Reluctantly, you opened your own passenger side door and got inside. Your mother nearly broke the key with the aggressive that she started the car with.
Your eyes were glued on Luke’s vehicle as your mother drove off but you could’ve sworn their car was shaking a crack-addict. And if you weren’t crazy, you saw a fist connect with a face through the back windshield. Your back straightened in your seat. “Wait, mom-”
“You mind your business.” She warned, looking between the road and you. “What happens between that boy and his father is none of your concern...”
YOU PRACTICALLY BOLTED UP TO THE COMFORT OF YOUR ROOM WHEN YOU WALKED THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR. Marley was sitting on your bed. You felt bad for being away from her so often recently, but you knew she could entertain yourself. You always left her three bowl of food and water when you had a feeling you’d be gone, knowing your mom didn’t care for the dog as much as she used to. Or at all, really.
Your mother had stopped her yelling and berating about ten minutes into the ride home, receiving a phone call from Shoupe. Even with the device to your ear, you could still make out what the man was saying.
He and Peterkin sent out units to basically spy on John B ‘s house, planning to wait until the boy appeared and make their move. Moments like this made you despise living on an island that was hit by frequent hurricanes, unable to warn any of your friends about what was happening, especially not knowing when John B would pop back up after his run from DCS.
The animal jumped off the bed at the sight of you, jumping on you as you knelt down to her height.
“Hey, Marls.” You cooed, scratching the retriever’s neck as you wiggled up underneath you. “I know, I miss you too. How you been, girl?”
“...Thanks, Anna. I’ll let her know..” Your mothers voice rang in your ears as she stopped in front of your open door, ending the call she was on. Her attention was directed towards you now as she rolled up the sleeves on her blazer slightly. “Clean yourself up. You’re going dress shopping with Kiara.”
“For?”
“Midsummers. You’re going.” You groaned, you’d never been to Midsummer’s because this was your first-year as a Figure Eight resident. With the help of Mrs. C, Kie’s mom, your mom managed to wiggle her way into the Island Club, scoring you an place at Midsummers. Kie described it as the ‘Met Gala from Hell’.
“Wouldn’t a better punishment be not allowing me to go?” You tried, even though you knew she’d never go for it.
“No because that’s exactly what you want, both you and Kiara.” She said, so you assumed this was a small punishment for your best friend, too. “Shower, buy a nice presentable dress, and be there. On time.” Was all the woman said before she continued down the hall to her own room.
Your eyes drifted down to the dog as you pouted, she was staring up at you cutely, mouth open and tail wagging. “I’ll steal you some sliders”
“SERIOUSLY, YOU LOOK GREAT.” Kie gushed beside you, eyeing your hair as you walked into the dress shop. “Like, I know neither of us want to go but you look like a goddess. For real.”
You couldn’t help but giggle, bell jingling above the door as you both entered the small corner shop on the mainland. “I won’t say I don’t want to go just yet. I’ve never been...” You told the brown-haired girl.
“Anything I can help you ladies with?” An employee approached with a bright smile, hands clasped in front of her. She looked so well put together.
“Oh, we’re okay. Thank you.” Kiara politely declined, leading to the racks in the back by your arm. “Everything in here is so hideous but there is a gold mine in the back. No pun intended.” She whispered as she tugging you towards racks you wouldn’t even know were there without her.
“Sometimes, people try and hide their shit on the clearance rack so no one will take it and they can come back and buy it later.” She told you.
You eyed a couple of dresses that peeked your interest — a slim black one, a floral green one, a lacey blue one. There were so many. You plucked up at least five dresses from the rack, Kie’s arms just as full as you both silently search, the shop music playing in the back.
When you were both satisfied, you rushed to the dressing rooms. Kie went first and you almost forgot how picky she was. The girl looked good in almost anything but when she walked out in a purple, cowl necklace, satin dress, you both knew it was the one.
“Oh my, Kie, you look so good!” You exclaimed, squealing like a school-girl. “The purple makes your skin look amazing, Kie, you have to get it.”
“I’m not leaving the shop without it.” She said like it was the most obvious thing in the world, a smile on her face. “Okay, let me change so you can try yours on.” She said, slipping back into the dressing room as you gathered your hangers of dresses from the seat beside you and entered the room after she left.
The first couple of dresses were just not your thing. It was either too loose or unflattering in color. You were about to give up and head back to the racks until you realized you still had one more dress to try on — a mulberry colored dress with a sweetheart neckline. Slipping it on, you stepped out of the dressing room and did a twirl for a Kie.
“...If you don’t buy it, I fucking will.” She looked you up and down with wide eyes.
“Is that a yes?” You questioned.
“It’s a hell yes.” She scoffed. “You look stunning in that dress, Y/N.”
“Need any help in here?” The same employee from earlier came in, stopping in her tracks when her eyes landed on you. “My God, it suits you so well.” You weren’t sure if she was just doing her job but her compliment was all you needed to decide that this was your Midsummers dress, for sure. “Oh! I have just the thing to compliment it.” The woman gushed, rushing out of the fitting room and returning within seconds, a flower-band hairpiece in her hands.
She placed it gently atop your hair, adjusting it until it sat right. She told you you looked beautiful and left you and Kie to yourselves once more, not before bringing a matching hairpiece for Kie that suited her purple dress. The employee took all of your unwanted dresses back for you while the both of you re-dressed and went back out to search for shoes.
With Kie’s help, you settled on a pair of block-heel pumps that closely resembled the color of your dress. The woman at the register happily rung you both up, offering you a friendly smile on your way out the door. You were maybe five feet from leaving when a familiar head of blonde hair entered the shop as you and Kie were leaving, bumping in between the middle of both of you.
“Oh! I’m so sorry-” She stopped mid-apology when she realized who she was apologizing to. “Oh. It’s just you two.” Sarah’s tone wasn’t as cheery as she eyed you both up and down. “Midsummer’s?” She asked, motioning towards the bags in your hands.
“Yep.” Kie gave the girl a fake smile. “How about you? Out for prey?”
“Okay, you know what, Kie?” Sarah started, causing a scene in the small shop as you tugged on Kie’s arm.
“We should just go…” You whispered.
“Oh! And thanks for sinking my boyfriend’s boat, Y/n. Real classy.” You couldn’t help but scoff, edging in front of Kiara.
“Which boyfriend? I mean, it’s clear that Top isn't your main man anymore, so when’s the next guy gonna pop out?” The blonde girl smiled, licking the bottom of her top teeth before speaking.
“Be careful what you wish for.” She spoke in hushed tone, your eyes pinching in on each other.
“The hell’s that supposed to mean?” Kie jumped in.
“Is there a problem… over here?” An employee came over, a much older woman. The manager you assumed.
“No.” You replied, winding your arm through keys before pushing the store door open. “No problem at all.” You told the lady, eyes mugging Sarah as you left.
“EXCUSE ME SIR, DO WE HAVE TO SHUCK THESE OURSELVES?” Kiara put on a fake accent as you both snuck up behind Pope, the boy turning around with an irritated expression before realizing it was you two. “‘Cause it might mess up my costume.” Kie laughed.
He smiled and pulled you both into a tight hug. When he released you both, he turned to you first. “I’m so sorry. I should’ve never-”
“Pope, don’t. It was my idea.” He swallowed his pride, accepting that you wouldn’t allow him to apologize.
“Have you seen JJ? Since the arrest?” He asked, voice laced with worry.
You nodded. “We spent the night in the holding cell together. Last I saw him was when he left the station with his dad…” You told him, the events of this morning flashing in your mind. You knew JJ’s dad was a little off his rocker but now you were wondering just how bad it’s gotten.
Pope’s mind seemed to wander after that. You wanted to ask if he knew anything, if you were right to be worried but you decided to just wait until you saw JJ.
“You ever seen this many kooks in one place?” Kie cut in, staring at the growing crowd of people.
“Yeah,” Pope replied, standing next to her. “Last year.”
“We’re in the lion’s den.” She said solemnly, eyeing Topper and Kelce from across the field. Applause broke out prompting your attention to turn to the family entering the party — The Camerons. Rose, Ward, Rafe, Sarah, and Wheezie descended the stairs in typical Cameron fashion. “Here come Lord Capital and the Exploiters. This is gonna be fun…”
IT’D BEEN A COUPLE HOURS SINCE YOU’D ARRIVED AT MIDSUMMERS. You and Kie had been sneaking Pope drinks as he worked, almost getting busted by Heyward.
“Y’know, I’ll admit,” Kie started as you both leaned against each other while Pope continued preparing food in front of the grill. “This is a lot more fun with you guys here.”
“Aww,” You cooed, rubbing the girl’s arm. “We love you, too.”
She giggled. “Are you tipsy?” You looked up at her through your lashes as you leaned on her arm. You held up your hand, hovering your index finger and thumb in front of one another.
“Jus’ a little.” You whispered, eyes drifting around the party. You watched the party-goers dance and drink and socialize. But your eyes managed to land on a familiar head of scruffy blonde hair. “Is that JJ?” You perked up, taking your weight off of Kiara. You hiked up your dress slightly in order to speed-walk across the lawn and reach the boy, Kiara calling out behind you. “JJ!” you whisper-yelled, catching the boys attention.
He looked star-struck for the briefest of moments and he still hadn’t spoken when you reached him. You waved a hand in front of his face, snapping him out of it and watching a small smile edge on his features.
“It’s so good to see you, princess.” He cheered quietly pulling you into a tight bear-hug, lifting you a few inches off the ground. You didn’t hesitate to hug him back, wounding your arms around his neck right before he put you down.
But your smile dropped when you got a good look at his face. “JJ..” You whispered, fingers tracing the bottom of his lip where a large cut sat, a large bruise on his cheek. “Did your dad do this?”
His blue eyes met yours, pulling your hand from his face and holding it in his own and edging closer to you. “Don’t worry about it. I’ll be fine.”
“What do you mean don’t worry about it, JJ? He can’t hit you like that-”
“It’s nothing that hasn’t happened before.” He cut you off. “Okay? Just keep it to yourself. Please, Y/n.”
You looked between both of his eyes — they were pleading with you to just drop it. To let it go. And you didn’t want to. But JJ did. You nodded, squeezing his hand. “Okay…” you agreed. “Don’t worry about all of this, okay? My mom’s gonna pay the restitution, so if that’s why your dad’s mad just let him know-”
“It’s okay.” The blonde. “John B and I, we have a plan. We’re back in the G-game.” Your eyes went wide.
“But there was nothing there. The wreck was empty, JJ.”
“John B will explain everything, alright? But I have to do somethin’ really really quick.” He backed away, walking backwards from you, basically skipping. “And you look gorgeous, by the way! Prettiest Pogue Princess there ever was!” He mildly-shouted as he walked away, a bright smile breaking out on your face.
You turned back around to find Kie just standing there. “What was that?” She inquired as you both walked back to Pope.
“What was what?” You asked, plucking a shrimp off the scorching grill as Pope swatted your hand away with the tongs.
“You and JJ…” She trailed off. “You don’t think that was weird?”
You scoffed, looking up at her through your lashes. “He’s one of my best friends, Kie. Plus, we’ve been through a lot in the last 24 hours. Why are you making it weird?” She didn’t respond after that, just giving you an odd look. You only spoke again once Pope asked what happened. “JJ says we’re back in the G-game.”
“How?” Pope asked, still paying most attention to the food in front of him.
“Not sure. He says John B will explain it all later.” You pulled your phone out of your bra, looking at the time. “Shit. I need to go find my mother before I become the next thing on the grill. She wants me to meet some business partners of hers.” You dismissed, waving goodbye to your two friends.
You weaved through the crowd, spotting your mother at one of the decorated table talking to a much older, elderly couple. She spotted you and pointed before motioning you over. You stood next to her, smiling at the couple.
“Mr. and Mrs. Daugherty, this is my daughter, Y/n.” You shook their hands, told them it was nice to meet them. Your mother had explained that these were the people that helped her succeed in law so she wanted you to meet them and get their advice, despite your several protests that law was not your desired career path.
She kept trying to fit you into her shoes knowing they would never fit. But you listened to their takes and advice, mostly for their sake. You’d been idly engaging until you saw JJ bolt into the clubhouse, Rafe and his crew hot on his tail. Your plastered smile dropping for the smallest of moments.
“I’m so sorry,” You chuckled awkwardly. “You wouldn’t mind if I used the restroom, would you?”
“Not at all, darling-” The old woman told you but your mother was quick to add in her two cents.
“You can hold it, can’t you?” She fake laughed, eyes going back and forth between you and her mentors. “I mean, you wouldn’t want to be rude.”
“I didn’t know peeing was rude, Mother.” You cocked your head, lifting the skirt of your dress as to not trip over it on your way into the clubhouse, looking at the Daugherty’s once more before you left, offering them a smile. “Excuse me.”
You walked as fast as you could into the building, accidentally bumping guest after guest on your way in. You no longer had sights on the group of guys, following the trail of shocked guests and shifted furniture that they left behind.
To the people around, you probably looked a little crazed but this wasn’t like at The Point or at The Golf Course or during The Movie. Rafe would have JJ cornered with two guys behind him. You knew that realistically you stood no chance against a trio of guys but you weren’t about to leave JJ to fend for himself.
You searched the place up and down, stumbling towards the restrooms, immediately heading into the men’s one. You ignored the wold-whistles, protests, and men peacefully using the urinals, following the sound of hushed voices into the connected locker room.
“Actually, there is an issue,” You heard JJ’s voice as you got closer. “We got a criminal trespass in progress here. Blatant disrespect for private property, I’m in violation of all kinds of shit here, sir.” You shook your head at his words, knowing he was seconds away from getting thrown out. The Island Club’s security was tight.
“Excuse me, miss,” a voice startled you from behind, causing you to whip around. “You can’t be in here.” You opened your mouth, stuttering to find an excuse as the other security stared at you but you just settled on throwing your arms up. Clearly, JJ was safe, even though he was getting kicked out.
As you were being led out, you looked behind you to see that the other officer had a hold of JJ before Rafe’s voice sounded out. “Hey, tell Y/n she looks hot in that dress! But she looks so much hotter out of it, trust me!” The Cameron boy laughed out and you watched as JJ snatched himself out of the guard’s hold and charged back into the locker room. The action made your heart jump but you weren’t sure for what reason as the other guard continued leading you out into the main hall of the clubhouse.
You weren’t sure which exit the other security guard has escorted JJ out of so you made your way back to the deck of the clubhouse, head whipping left and right until you spotted that familiar head of blonde hair. JJ was reckless and chaotic but he was still your friend.
You weren’t gonna watch as they practically threw him out an event when he didn’t even instigate anything. “It’s okay everybody! Do not panic.” He shouted with his hands up in the air, the majority of the party’s attention now on him. “Leave it to the men and woman in uniform. Let’s hear it for them! Rose, you look like lady liberty.”
“You can let go of him!” You called, skipping down the steps and into the grass. “He doesn’t have to be manhandled, he didn’t do anything!” The security turned to you, still gripping JJ by the upper arm. JJ took the opportunity to shove the man off of him, his blue eyes on yours across the lawn.
“Hey, mandatory power hour at Rixon’s, princess!” He pointed at you. “Kie? Pope?” He motioned to them as well. “Rixon’s Cove. Let’s roll! Throw off your chains!” You watched as Kiara snatched away from her parents and Pope ran away from his dad. You were making a move to follow them when a hand gripped your upper arm, your mother coming into view.
“We talked about this.” She said firmly, fire in her eyes. “Do not embarrass me, right now.” The woman warned.
“I don’t think there’s any way for me to make you proud anymore, Mom.” You told her sadly in a hushed tone before snatching your arm out of her grip, running towards your friends. You could hear her calling out your name behind you but you ignored her, jumping into JJ’s open arms and leaving Midsummers.
CICADA’S CHIRPED IN THE MIDDLE OF RIXON’S COVE AS YOU ALL SAT AROUND A RAGING BONFIRE, waiting for JB to speak. “So, like, my dad’s already gonna kill me.” Pope started, sat on a log in front of the fire across from you and Kie while JJ and John B stood, throwing rocks. “So, what’s this mandatory meeting about?”
The two boys sat down, eyeing each other before JJ spoke. “Might as well tell him before we’re gaffed, man.” He said, the statement mainly directed at John B.
“...The gold never went down with the Royal Merchant. It’s been here the whole time.” The brunette said, a small victorious smile on his face.
“Here?” You exclaimed incredulously from where your head laid on Kiara’s shoulder. He just offered up a simple nod.
“It’s on the island.”
“I would like to voice my skepticism.” Pope raised his hand.
“I’m sure you would, Pope, but can I please present you my evidence, sir?” John B spoke mockingly as he got up to speak at the forefront of the group.
Pope motioned with his hand. “Proceed.”
“In my backpack, I have a letter from Denmark Tanny. Denmark Tanny was a slave that survived the Royal Merchant wreck. Check it,” He handed Kiara the letter as you eyed it as well. “Slaves weren’t mentioned as crew members on the ship, but my dad found the complete manifest. That was his big discovery. Tanny used the gold from the Merchant to buy his freedom, and then his farm.”
Kiara passed the paper across the fire for JJ and Pope to see as John B continued. “And that farm is, drumroll please…” Kiara patted her thighs rapidly, shaking your frame back and forth which prompted you to sit up straight. “Tannyhill Plantation.”
You blinked hard, craning your neck forward. “Tannyhill?” You and Kie exclaimed simultaneously. Like, the Cameron’s Tannyhill?
“Yeah. After that, he used the money to free even more slaves, and then he sold a shit-ton of rice, which pisses off all the white planters, and they decide to lynch him. On the day they were coming to get him, he writes a farewell letter to his son and in the last line of that letter, he leaves a coded message about the gold’s location.”
“Where?”
“Harvest the wheat in parcel nine, near the water. Except, there’s no wheat. Wheat is code for gold, seeing as the gold has the wheat symbol engraved into it.” He slapped Pope’s shoulder with a smile.
“Holy shit...” The dark-skinned boy said.
“All we need is an original survey map of the property, and we’ve found the gold.” John B concluded, small smiles on the faces of the entire group.
“So, whats the plan?” You asked, and you figured it was nothing good when John B had his attention fully on you and Kiara, his shoulders square. “Well, Sarah Cameron’s coming tonight-”
“Hold on...” Kie was the first to speak.
“She’ll bring an original survey map.”
“Why Sarah?” She asked.
“This is gonna be good…” JJ muttered, looking down at his feet.
John B sighed, raking his fingers through his hair. “She… got me into the archives at Chapel Hill yesterday. That’s where I got the letter.”
“You were at Chapel Hill with Sarah Cameron?” Kie spat out unbelievably.
“He was mackin’ on her.” JJ added in quickly, avoiding all eye contact.
“Of course...” You muttered disappointingly.
“I wasn’t macking on her, okay? I was… using her for access.”
“Did you tell her about the treasure?” Kiara inquired, an undertone of hurt laced in her voice.
“I was trying to get into the archives!” JB argued back.
“Is that a yes?” You chimed in, truly not believing John B could be that idiotic. But you guessed that was the Sarah Cameron effect.
“I was just using her for information. I’m trying to make us filthy rich here. Okay? So, that we can pay off a boat, or send Pope to autopsy school so he can study dead bodies. Look, you guys know me.” He continued talking, looking around at the group. Kiara was visibly uncomfortable. “Do I look like the type of person to fall for Sarah Cameron?”
“Yes!” You exclaimed with scoff.
“Look, you guys don’t know her yet, I do!”
“John B, we do know her. A hell of a lot better than you ever will,” You started, anger and betrayal in your voice. “For the last time, you can’t trust her. With the gold or your feelings.”
“Her brother did hit me in the back with a golf club...” Pope reminded, massaging his shoulder with a grimace.
You blew out a breath of air. “Yeah, her brother’s done a lot of things…” You quipped underneath your breath.
“What’d she do to you both, exactly?’ JJ aimed the inquiry at you and Kiara.
“She’s like a spitting cobra.” Kie spat out. “First, she blinds you and then- and then she-”
“This is a bad analogy…” The blonde muttered.
“Listen to me!” Kiara pleaded. “Whatever we get, she’s going to try to take...”
“I THINK I’M GONNA DO THIS ONE BY MYSELF…” John B told the four of you who were crowded in the back of The Twinkie. Kiara rolled her eyes and the rest of you sighed unbelievably. “I don’t wanna spook Sarah with the peanut gallery.”
“I just don’t understand why we’re involving her at all.” Kiara snapped, throwing her shoulders up.
“Kie, we’re not involving her, okay? It’s just, like, a business…meeting…thing.”
“A business meeting between their tongues…” You muttered as JJ made kissing motions with both his hands.
“Look, once we get what we need, we cut her loose, alright?” John B reaffirmed the group, dismissing your suspicion and doubt.
“...Promise me nothing is happening between you two.”
“Nothing is happening, Kie.” The boy sighed.
“I’m being serious. This isn’t about you and this isn’t about us,” You, JJ and Pope shared a tense glance. Was Kiara sure she didn’t have a thing for him? “Dude, she’s gonna get inside your head. Just promise me nothing’s happening between you guys.” She spoke solemnly.
“I…I promise.” John B told her. “...Anyways, I’m gonna go.” John B said in farewell, opening the van door and exiting.
“We’ll just sit here…in this hot ass car.” Pope said as he shut the door.
“...Can’t believe he’s been seeing Sarah Cameron.” You thought aloud, disgust filling your words.
“You guys do know that holding onto your grudge is like drinking poison and hoping Sarah will die, right?” Pope threw out.
“‘Hope is the companion of power and mother of success.’” You quipped back, remembering the quote from a random in class.
“Seriously, what went down between you three? This is like some deep-rooted hate.” JJ added.
“Does it matter? We’re supposed to be a team and John B jumping ship to mack on the Kook Princess doesn’t exactly scream teamwork.” You told them. “We all know that deep down, when we find this gold, John B is going to have fallen madly in love with the serial cheating, two-faced snake that is Sarah Cameron and she’s going to break his measly little heart and steal what we find and then we’ll be left gold-less and picking up the pieces of John Booker Routledge’s little broken heart.”
The space fell silent after your small rant, wide-eyed glances exchanged between the three. “Okay, I was wrong. That is some deep-rooted hate.”
“We shouldn’t have let him go out there alone…” Kie muttered, staring out of the window, thunder clapping outside. It was a thought shared amongst you all, a silent agreement. The van fell into a comfortable silence for a few moments.
Until it was broken.
“...help!”
Your eyebrows pinched together, lifting your head from JJ’s shoulder. “Did you hear that?” You asked looking up at the blonde.
“Hear what?” You all sat silently for a few more moments, the only sound being the howling wind and the thunder booming until you heard it again, this time you all did.
“Somebody please help!”
You all didn’t wait to sprint out of the van, almost knocking one another over on your way out. You don’t even know how you and Kiara managed to run in heels without tripping. The four of you bolted in the direction of the tower, following the path that John B took and reaching the end of it to find Sarah cradling his unconscious body.
“Sarah! What happened?” Pope questioned as you all came to an abrupt stop in front her.
“He needs help. I don’t know what to do. Topper shoved him.” She cried, rocking back and forth with John B in her arms.
“From the top of the tower?! What the fuck was Topper doing here?” You spat out, head whirling left and right looking for any sign of the aforementioned boy.
“Where is he, now?” JJ interrogated.
“Please get help, I don’t care who. Just call someone.” Sarah bellowed as JJ urged Pope to run for help, especially with all of your phones being abandoned in the Twinkie.
“John B, stay with me…” The blonde girl cooed, running her fingers through his hair before planting her lips against his. You glanced to the side, not missing the absolute look of betrayal in Kie’s eyes and maybe you would’ve found the same emotion in your own.
John B lied, to all of you. But that was the least of your concerns now.
YOU HATED THE FEEL OF HOSPITALS. They were stale and sterile and boring. But most importantly, they made you anxious. The four of you sat in the waiting room, they wouldn’t allow you in the actual hospital room because Ward had paid for it and he wanted to give Sarah a moment with John B when he woke up.
“This is such bullshit.” You said unbelievably, tapping your foot incessantly. “She cheats on her boyfriend and gets our friend thrown from a tower but we can’t even sit in his hospital room? She’s probably holding his hand and praying like some widow…”
“Let’s just be glad that John B’s okay…” Pope tried to reason.
“No, Pope,” Kiara rolled her eyes. “He lied to us. Did you see the way she was holding him and-” She cut herself off, throwing herself back into the chair.
“Look, we can be mad when he wakes up, but let’s just chill right now, alright?” JJ snapped, basically telling you all to shut it and you only then took notice of how tense he was — biting his fingernails, his hands visibly shaking. You took his unoccupied hand into yours, giving it a squeeze. He absentmindedly returned the gesture. “When I find Topper, I’m going to kill him. I should’ve done it on the beach…”
“Don’t say that.” You told him firmly. “That’s how they want you to think, JJ. Don’t feed into it, otherwise they win.”
“They always win, anyway.”
“Only if you let them.” You concluded, letting the hospital noise fill the silence — telephones ringing, patients coughing, nurses walking, family members crying.
Taking in the scene around you, where you had all landed, you were starting to wonder if finding gold was really worth the trouble.

Hope you feel better soon!
Also I forgot if you already answered this just like I forgot Anon wasn't on when I sent the ask orz but in the pet cafe au have cultivation being a thibg? If so I'd agree possible to even partially gain a human or humanoid form. Night time peopling escapades could be funny. Especially for the MBJ blanket cat.
Any highlights of the "Pets"antics with SQH and SY?
ive been corrupted by seeing skinzhun and skinhe creatures and when you said humanoid my brain immediately jumped to this and well...
...furhe
but yeah i think humanoid night escapades would be funny so... tell me what y'all think
AS FOR THE PET ANTICS!! Even though they try to avoid property damage out of respect for the cafe, there's bound to be some gnawing on wires and paper rolls being destroyed (courtesy of sj and mbj)
heres a list tho:
Mbj blanket cat, SQH woke up many times being nearly suffocated by him
LBH likes to snuggle on SY's chest when he was younger but he started getting too heavy and SY woke up many times thinking he was having sleep paralysis demons
SY and SQH being jumped by the animals for attempting to take them to the vet
SY and SQH taking LBH out on a "trip", LBH coming back bald, it was quite horrifying to look at
LQG chasing SJ around (bunnies can be menaces too ok)
LBH dragging around LQG (SQH and SY had a heart attack because they thought he was being eaten)
LBH dragging SQH and SY when they take him on walks
SJ tried to drown LQG in YQY's bathing pool
SHL sitting on top of YQY's head and SJ tried to eat her
SHL sitting on top of LMY's head and LQG trying to kick her
QQQ sometimes falls into deep sleep and hangs like a bat in her cage, scaring SQH and SY many times into thinking she died
SJ likes swatting MQF's dust bath into whoever pissed him off that week
not really a pet antic but SQH using the most diabolical photos of the animals to promote their cafe online, much to everyone's dismay
#archerdoodles#archerrambles#ask#pet cafe au#even tho this a late answer thank you for the well wishes I recovered in a day or so hehe

Love your work! Had a fun thought! Imagine Whumper being reprimanded after abusing whumpee not because they care about whumpee but because whumper was damaging the organizations "property" telling whumper that they simply allow whumper to use whumpee and will give him to someone else if he can't take care of their stuff.
This reminded me of @hurtwithallthecomfort 's prompt about living weapon healer, which i had been meaning to write on actually!
...
Whumpee backed into the corner as whumper stormed towards them. "Please! I didn't mean to hurt-"
Normally they were better- without proper concentration, healing magic could be incredibly painful. But whumpee was so incredibly tired, up all night healing themselves selfishly after their "playtime" with whumper... if only they had been given to any other mage...
Where the burn on whumper's arm had been was red with irritation as the healing magic stung them. With their other arm they lifted whumpee by the shirt, perfect height to punch them square in the stomach. "You want to try that again, huh?! I'd like to see YOU fight someone like i do out in the field, you ungrateful-"
"Drop it."
Whumpee's heart stopped, their eyes flickering to the door to their room where whumper's back was facing.
The boss. The one who had given whumpee to whumper in the first place.
Whumper all at once let go of whumpee, making them fall on their knees on their side. Like nothing had happened, they stood at attention, whumpee curled up and staring obediently at the floor.
The boss's boots were in front of them, and before they could process their chin was roughly pulled up. The boss's cold eyes roamed over their form, making them ever aware of their injuries from whumper. "What the hell have you done to this one..."
"They used their magic for pain," whumper defended, but the boss was clearly not buying it. "If they think THEY can do that to ME just because I need healing-"
"Silence." The boss put a hand up, sighing, and punching the bridge of their nose. They picked up whumpee by the back of their shirt and not so gently dropped them back on their cot. "If youre going to keep damaging my healers I will have no choice but to revoke your privilege to a healer."
Whumper tensed up, annoyed and frustrated beyond belief. Whumpee flinched back as they tightened their hands into fists at their sides. The boss only let certain people in the guild access the healers, whumpee knew, and whumper was one of their favorites... whumpee had no idea if that was a legitimate threat or not. "... my apologies, boss. I only wanted to make sure your healer wasn't stepping out of line."
"They know how to behave, I made sure." The boss rolled their eyes, backing whumper to cone with them. "Now, I have an assignment I'd like to discuss with you."
As the boss turned their back, whumper made eye contact with whumpee. They glared hard, snarling in an almost smile, as they dragged the nail of their thumb across their neck.
Whumpee whimpered, holding their knees close to themselves.
The two walked out the room, leaving whumpee alone to clean up the mess left by their beat down.

Three Idiots (Dabi, Hawks and Endeavor)
Summary: It's tough competition to receive an internship offer from Endeavor's agency. Endeavor somehow ended up getting three idiotic interns, one of them happens to be his son, the daughter of his rival, and a fucking chicken. TLDR, I need more Pro-Hero Dabi AUs because what the fuck Horikoshi
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥
In Endeavor's Main Office, an unusual sight unfolded-- one you wouldn’t expect in a place as rigid and disciplined as Endeavor’s Agency. Seated seiza-style on the floor in front of the imposing central desk were three interns: Hawks, Dabi, and [Name]. Each wore a different expression-- Hawks appeared uneasy, Dabi wore a smug grin, and [Name] stared blankly into the distance, lost in thought. The tension in the room was palpable.
Endeavor, the Flame Hero, loomed over them, his fiery glare fixed on the trio.
“Let’s address your recent failures,” Endeavor growled, his voice a low rumble that demanded attention. “Hawks-- engaging in unauthorized fraternizing with admirers? You jeopardized the mission for your own amusement.”
Hawks shifted, his usual easygoing demeanor replaced by visible discomfort.
“Dabi,” Endeavor continued, his glare narrowing. “Your refusal to cooperate with your teammates has crippled team cohesion and effectiveness. And the property damage-- completely avoidable if you had let [Name] contain your flames.”
Dabi met Endeavor’s fiery stare with unbothered defiance, a smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth.
“And you, [Name],” Endeavor said sharply, flames flickering more intensely around him. His disappointment was evident. “For someone raised by All Might-- even if adopted-- I expected at least a shred of his work ethic. Your lack of situational awareness is disgraceful. You should be capable of managing yourself without relying on others.”
[Name] remained unmoved, their calm demeanor only stoking Endeavor’s irritation further.
The flames around him flared hotter. “Do any of you understand the consequences of your actions? This isn’t a playground! Lives are at stake, and your incompetence is unacceptable!”
The three interns sat in silence, the weight of Endeavor’s words pressing down on them.
“Well?!” Endeavor’s voice barked, breaking the silence that had stretched on too long. “Do you three have anything to say for yourselves?”
Hawks shifted his gaze between Dabi and [Name], hesitating before slowly raising his hand as if to ask a question. Endeavor fought the urge to roll his eyes. “What is it, Hawks?”
“If anyone should be blamed here,” Hawks said slowly, “it’s Dabi.” Dabi shot him a sharp side-eye. Hawks, usually the type to stay out of drama, couldn’t keep quiet any longer, especially with Endeavor’s wrath focused on him. “I was just asking the civilians for directions because Dabi kept running off without us. One thing led to another, and they wanted photos with me. I couldn’t exactly say no.”
“Aw, boo-hoo,” Dabi cut in, a mocking smirk tugging at his lips. “Poor Mr. Birdbrain, upset because the ladies couldn’t keep their hands off him.” Hawks glared at him, but before he could retort, Dabi interrupted again. “Besides, the property damage wasn’t that bad.”
Endeavor’s gaze hardened at Dabi’s dismissal.
“It was Airhead’s fault for not being able to keep up with me in the first place,” Dabi added casually, throwing [Name] under the bus.
Endeavor’s flames flared to life, licking the edges of his desk as his anger reached a boiling point. “Enough!” he bellowed, his voice shaking the room. “If you refuse to follow orders and work as a team, you have no place here.”
Dabi’s smirk faltered just a bit, but he quickly masked it with an exaggerated eye roll, muttering under his breath, “Whatever.”
Endeavor’s gaze shifted, now focusing intently on [Name]. “And you,” he growled, his tone darkening, “if you think daydreaming is acceptable in my office, you’re mistaken.”
[Name] blinked slowly, turning to look at him, seemingly unphased. “Huh?”
Endeavor’s flames sputtered, caught off guard by their utter lack of concern. “Did you even hear a word I just said?”
“Something about situational awareness,” [Name] replied nonchalantly, scratching their head. “Look, I wasn’t relying on anyone. Dabi’s flames are... a lot. I’m working on it.”
“WORKING ON IT?!”
Without warning, Endeavor grabbed Hawks by the face with his left hand and [Name] with his right, then, in one swift motion, slammed their faces directly into Dabi’s skull.
The sound of impact echoed through the room, followed by a cacophony of pained yowls. Hawks crumpled to the side, clutching his head with one hand while his wings flapped wildly in an attempt to stabilize himself, his feathers zooming out of control. “Ow, ow, ow!” he howled, his feathers ruffling in panic.
Dabi’s body folded like a wet noodle as he staggered back, gripping his skull as if it were going to explode. “WHAT THE HELL, DAD?!” he groaned, knees buckling.
Meanwhile, [Name] was flailing in the air, crying out in exaggerated distress. “This is abuse!” they shouted between kicks, their legs spinning like a windmill. “I’m seriously going to have a concussion!”
Endeavor stood over the three interns, watching the chaos unfold with a cold, unwavering gaze. The room was filled with the sounds of groaning, wing flapping, and the occasional squawk of protest. The intensity of his earlier anger still lingered in the air like the remnants of a firestorm, but the flames around his body had simmered down to a mere flicker.
He crossed his arms, watching them writhe on the floor with a mix of annoyance and what could almost be interpreted as... disappointment?
“Alright, enough.” His voice was still low but controlled, like the calm before the storm. “You’re all fine. Stop acting like you’re going to die.”
Dabi, still clutching his head, groaned and slowly sat up. “Fine? I feel like my brain’s about to melt.” He glared at Endeavor, his tone half sarcastic, half pained. “You can’t just slam people’s faces together like that! What are you, a villain?”
Endeavor’s fiery gaze narrowed, but his expression softened ever so slightly. “Maybe you’ll think twice before burning everything you see to the ground.” He didn’t give Dabi a chance to argue further before turning to [Name], who was still kicking the air and wailing melodramatically.
“I swear, if you don’t stop flailing-- ”
“I’m going to be permanently concussed!” [Name] wailed, dramatically clutching their head like it might fall off. “This is what happens when you treat us like human bumper cars! How are we supposed to get anything done when you keep slamming us into each other like this?! How are we supposed to work like this?”
Endeavor sighed heavily, pinching the bridge of his nose. “You’re all impossible.”
Hawks, who had slowly managed to straighten himself up, gave Endeavor a pointed look. “This is what happens when you don’t take a breather before laying down the law, boss. You’ve got a temper, y’know?” He rubbed his head with a slight wince, his usual smug grin returning. “Not that I’m complaining, but someone could use a vacation.”
Endeavor shot him a sharp glare, but it lacked its usual fire. He let out another frustrated sigh, clearly not ready to fully admit that maybe, just maybe, he’d overreacted. But it was hard to stay angry when they were all looking like a group of mangled birds after a bad flight.
“Alright, alright,” Endeavor muttered, turning away as if dismissing them all. “Just... get it together. And next time, pay attention. No more excuses.”
The interns slowly picked themselves off the floor, groaning as they straightened up, rubbing sore spots where their faces had collided. They shot each other tired, half-exasperated looks.
“Yeah, yeah,” Dabi muttered, dragging a hand through his feathers. “You don’t have to tell us twice.”
“I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the way he handles things,” [Name] muttered under their breath, a pout forming.
Dabi stretched and gave Endeavor a lopsided grin. “Well, that’s one way to get our attention.” He raised an eyebrow, adding with a shrug, “You should try a hug next time, though. Might do wonders for your temper.”
Endeavor’s flames flared up again—just a little, just enough to remind them who was in charge. “Out. All of you. Now.”
They didn't need to be told twice. The three interns hastily made their way to the door, eager to escape the aftermath of their fiery mentor’s wrath. Hawk decided to ease the tension by suggesting they go to a local ramen restaurant. As the door slammed shut behind them, a tense but somewhat relieved silence settled in the office.
Endeavor exhaled deeply, his flames flickering down to a soft glow. "I need a vacation."

There Was Only One Bed
"We tend to get into these situations a lot, now, don't we? Shouldn't the hotel managers have known better at this point?"
Kaldo Gehenna Ver. Here
You and Orter had some sort of curse that had kept you working together for over two years now. Always, without fail, he would end up needing your help - last time it had been a flying mantacor, this time it was a violent unicorn who someone was keeping illegally in their home.
He can stop a violent beast from killing civilians but he couldn't stop property damage appearntly. That was too much work for him, it was just a 'clean up job' for a big and important guy like him. After all, he's the Desert Cane. That job was for the poor.
And for you.
You ran and kicked the back, watching him fold like a chair. He barely gave a shout, he merely stumbled and fell, his palms and knees scrapping against the cobblestone against your feet.
A laugh escaped you. Small revenge for that comment earlier.
”I'm about ready for a nap, I don't know about you.“
You stood over him, watching him search for his glasses. He was practically blind, his hand waving in the air as he searched for his lenses.
He looked pitiful, if only he hadn't said such a rude thing about your job earlier. But you gave him pity anyway, handing him his glasses back and watching as his eyes reappeared, giving you the meanest glare he ever had.
”What are you, an animal?“
He said this as he was still sitting on the ground, truly proper behavior from a stuck up who cared about the rules.
”No. But it's funny and you deserved it.“
You smiled, your face splitting apart in a shit eating grin.
“I don't think people deserve to be kicked.”
“They do when they insult others. You should try it sometime.”
Standing up, you offered your hand. Surprisingly he accepted it, pulling your down if only a little on purpose.
His grip was strong. It felt like he was trying to squeeze your bones out of your hand, and as if he were trying to pull you down with him. Payback.
"Let's go. I booked us rooms so we don't have to travel all night."
He stalked forward, walking ahead of you. There was a rush to catch up, your smaller steps having to leap in order to match up with his strides. He didn't acknowledge it, just nodding and continuing his pace.
What an asshole.
"How far is the inn?"
"Close. I'm not telling you."
Orter kept walking, his eyes focused on the path ahead of you.
"What? Why."
He scoffed, reaching around to flick your forehead. You dodged the onslaught, swatting his hand away.
"You would just kick me and try to get there first. Seriously, you don't have any respect for social decency."
Huffing, you tried to kick him again - your foot only made it halfway there until it was encased in a prison of sand.
Orter looked back at you, adjusting his glasses as his yellow eyes focused on your form. You could swear he was smirking, but it was wiped away in a second - maybe it was the glare you were sending him, who knew.
"Maybe you really are just an animal."
"Or maybe you're just an asshole!"
Stupidly, you pulled out your wand in hopes to cast a small spell at him. It was pointless, seeing as he had you disarmed with his stupid sand.
"You know we're in public, right? This just looks bad on your part."
Orter scoffed, letting you languish in his pile of inescapable sand if only for a little while longer. He reached over, gently hitting his knuckles against your head as he tried to physically knock some sense into you.
"Ow! What the hell!"
"I'm doing you a favor."
He gave a couple more knocks, as if it would make sure that you had some sense knocked into your head. You groaned, rolling your eyes as you felt his knuckles travel across your face, from your brow down to your cheekbones.
"What are you doing?"
You felt your face flush as his eyes traced your figure, golden eyes analyzing your form - it made you feel naked, and you could only escape by averting your gaze. His small huff of amusement made the feeling worse, your cheeks warming underneath his touch.
"Checking to see if you really have a brain underneath that skull. Seems like it's there, but I'm not sure."
There was no chance to retort as he dropped you roughly on the ground, leaving you to sputter and choke on offensive insults while he walked away, heading towards the hotel.
What an asshole.
-
This was a nightmare.
"Just take the bed, I'm not planning on sleeping anyway."
Orter looked at you with a straight face as he said this, pulling out a novel the hotel provided and tucking himself in a corner, as if that would be comfortable enough to be there for eight hours.
"Absolutely not. We can share, can't we?"
The bed was big enough for the two of you - maybe if you squeezed in, but you both paid for it, and it would be impossible to sleep knowing that there would be a man in the corner killing his neck while you laid down comfortably all night.
"I'm the man here. It's only proper that I allow the lady to take the bed."
"Excuse me? Are you really pulling that card right now?"
You took one of the pillows off of the bed, throwing it at the man. He seemed unphased, used to your outbursts.
What the hell was that about? Was he really going to treat you differently just because you were a girl?
"It's just the rules. I don't make them."
"Doesn't mean you have to follow them, ass!"
You slapped another pillow at his face. There was a struggle as he caught it, pushing you towards the bed and trying to subdue you - it had already turned late into the night, and your shouting was most likely disturbing the other guests.
It didn't matter to you. Orter deserved to be embarrassed.
Flipped him over, you tried to shove the plush cotton pillow over his face, struggling against his force. You felt him shift underneath you, his arms blocking your assault and preventing you from playfully suffocating him.
Your defense had been weak, perhaps too playful against your opponent. It was swiftly that he had worked to subdue you, his palm pressing against your shoulder while his knees worked against you, pinning you down against the soft bed.
The pillow was forgotten, with Orter merely staring down at you with his wasp-like eyes.
"This is rather improper of you-"
Growling, you threw your hand up, not really aiming for anything. It was with a shock that you felt your palm connect with his nose, and his weight fall against you as he took the hit on his face.
It was a moment later that blood began to drip down, making you cringe at the moment.
"Oh gods, I'm sorry."
Orter sat up, his hand attempting to cover the blood that began to drip from his nose. It was futile as it fell onto your shirt - the feeling was unpleasant, but you ignored it in favor of overwhelming guilt.
"Here. Um..."
There was nothing to aid him, besides your already soiled shirt. You handed the fabric to him, taking his bloody hands away from his face and trying to stop the bleeding that you caused.
He glanced at you, batting his dark eyelashes as he tilted his head down and ruined your shirt further. The fabric pulled against your ribcage as you both held it in place - at this point, it would be easier to take it off and hand it to him.
"fhanks."
"Thank you. For ruining my shirt."
"Is' nod my fauld' thad you hid' me." Orter's words were muffled by the shirt, and it was with a horrible ruttering sound, like an old rusty engine, that he tried to breathe in through his clouded and bloody nostrils.
Still ruining your shirt.
"You deserved it!" You deflected like it was breathing, "You're an asshole, manhandling me like that."
Drawing the fabric over your head, you shoved it in his face the best you could, still feeling his weight pinning you down at your hips. You would kick him if you could, but clearly, he had planned for this, not having moved from his position on top of you.
It took a moment to sink in the mistake you made, making eye contact with the man as he stared at you - making great effort to stay on your face and not look anywhere else.
He got off of you quickly, looking to the side and avoiding looking at you as if you had the plague. For once, you didn't shove his face for his perceived misdeed, instead taking the opportunity to cover your chest with the forgotten pillow, staring as Orter sat on the farthest edge of the bed, his warmth now sorely missed.
It had now gotten colder as it moved on in the night, no thanks to also having lost a shirt. There was nothing to say about that, as you would have to get up in order to get your day clothes - exposing yourself further to the man.
"Don't look at me." There was a crack in your voice as you said this, but you hoped that he would have been too distracted to really care about your state.
He glanced at you. The usual dull look on his face was painted red, his eyes wide as he turned away again, finding the floor much more interesting.
For once, he was speechless. No annoying taunts or a lecture about society - it was as if seeing your chest made him silent for once in his life.
Silently, he got up, his eyes still trailed downward. It was an awkward few minutes as you debated between getting up while shirtless and he struggled with forcing his bloody nose away with a pure force of will.
Despite being a double-liner, the man hadn't learned any spells to dispel such a pesty and annoying problem. How unfortunate.
It wasn't until a shirt was thrust into you direction were you broken out of your thoughts.
"Here. Sorry, just," Orter placed the shirt on your lap, turning to look back at the wall again as fast as he could "Take mine."
There was a long moment of silence.
It was a nice gesture. And you did feel bare, even underneath the pillow.
But this was Orter's shirt.
"Thanks. Um...we should go to sleep now."
You threw it on, trying your hardest to not focus on anything as you tried your best to straighten the fabric around you best you could. The shoulders were too large for your frame, making the buttoned collar fall too low on your skin.
It was better than nothing. At least you weren't forced to wear your dirtied shirt, which you assumed was somewhere off on the floor at the moment.
Silently, you forced yourself to lay down, going through the motions as you pushed the pillow underneath your head.
There was no body lying next to you. Instead, there was light breathing just below - it seemed like the asshole was still stubborn.
"Orter. I said we can share."
"I'd rather not. It's improper."
"I am literally wearing your shirt, what could possibly be more improper?"
"Sharing a bed."
You groaned, frustrated.
"Shut up, virgin."
That got the man up, unlike any other insult you had said. He crawled up onto the bed silently, his form dropping itself with a huff down onto the soft mattress.
"You are insufferable."
"Now that is improper."
The lights in the room went off, and you felt a light smack against your face.
"You should sleep."
"I am, Orter."
"Right."
His hand went up, feeling your face, as if to physically check for signs of your rest. His fingers trailed up and down your skin, tracing your nose and cheeks gently in the dark.
You could feel his thumb caressing your lips, as if you weren't still awake.
What a strange, strange man.
Anon asked for either or but I thought I could make it funny with Orter since he seems like such a rule guy. The vision is here. No confession and reader is kinda a tsundere cause idk...the vibes match.
Hope y'all enjoyed it. This is for my Valentine's event, it's still open and has slots open. go. ask away. do what you please.

not proof read.
trigger warnings:

₍ᐢ. .ᐢ₎ ₊˚⊹♡
every where you were, jay was there too.
a coffee shop, main library on campus. any cafeteria or food center on campus. anywhere and almost everywhere.
it didn’t matter how many different options were available, you both always ended up at the same place at the same time.
yet you both only had 3 classes together on campus.
philosophy intro to logic, abnormal psychology and interpersonal communications.
“will you be okay?” you friend asked with extreme concern.
“yes, i will be okay, ryunjin.” you reassured.
she was worried because for your abnormal psychology class you were partnered with jay for project.
“maybe yall should study him, because he’s definitely abnormal.” ryunjin whispered.
you playfully swatted her arm. “jay told me to meet him on the fourth floor.”
“why the top floor? so no one can hear you scream?”
“it’s the quiet floor and that’s where he reserved a study room for us.” you said. “please stop being like that!” you huffed.
ryunjin rolled her eyes but went to the second floor where her other friends were as you rode up the elevator to the fourth floor.
you were the one to actually suggest the fourth floor and jay reserved a room for you both based on that suggestion.
getting off the elevator, you found the study room off to the corner with ease, seeing jay set out needed materials on the table.
when he saw you enter he smiled. “oh hey!”
you smiled and waved. “hey jay. ready to get this project knocked out?”
he laughed, “absolutely, but it should be fun. abnormal psychology is one of my favorite subjects.”
“mine too.” you smiled.
︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
almost an hour later, you both decided on the topic of how personality disorders impact intrapersonal relationships.
you had actually suggested the topic on obsessive sexual fascinations like fetishism, voyeruism, and exhibitionsim, however, jay wasn’t too sure that would even get approved by the professor.
“why not?” you had asked. “is it not a part of abnormal psychology and human behavior?”
“it is but—,”
“you’re not comfortable, it’s okay.” you teased.
ryunjin would probably say it’s because it would mean studying his pattern of behaviors and people don’t like when they get caught.
during the next hour you both jotted down some ideas and found a few psychology papers and articles you all could use.
“we would also need to make sure we find examples.” jay said. “like in movies, shows, plays, things like that.”
“sounds like an easy task! we could use the movies like scream, when a stranger calls, or even—,”
jay chuckled. “and how do these movies relate to our topic?”
“are you kidding,” you laughed with a chuckle, “those people were cray cray. they had to have some kind of personality disorder. sure i can find out with some research.”
“when’s the next time you’re available to work on the project?” jay asked as you both started packing your belongings.
“i am pretty open. i don’t do much but hang around friends or stick to myself.” you shrugged. “how about tomorrow?”
“that’s fine. but i think we’ll have to find a new spot, if i remember correctly the library study rooms are booked up.”
“that’s okay, since we need somewhere private, maybe mine or your apartments?” you suggested, putting your bag over your shoulder.
jay nodded. “either is fine.” he smiled.
“we can do my place! i have plenty of snacks.”
︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
“are you insane?” ryunjin scolded you. “that guy is is messed up in the head, you know he’s stalking you, yet you invite him to your place? what are you, crazy yourself?”
it was the next day, and you were telling ryunjin your plans with jay to work on the project at your place while you both stopped by a coffee shop earlier in the morning.
“he asked for my address.” you stated.
“of course he did! he can’t get caught.” ryunjin narrowed her eyes at you. you rolled yours, and walked out the coffee shop, her right behind you.
“you know i am just looking out for you, right?” ryunjin sighed. “i mean, you’ve told me how you been finding flowers at your doorstep, and jay would randomly pop up where you are, almost everywhere, you were.”
“i could be overreacting.”
ryunjin scoffed. “oh now you say you’re overreacting? babe, a stalker is a stalker.”
“i actually never said he was a stalker.” you defending, back tracking.
“you legit told me, ‘ryunjin, jay from my class is stalking me!’”
“i don’t recall.” you shrugged it off.
you did recall.
you remember telling ryunjin how flowers were showing up at your door step, the same flowers from a flower shop jay worked at over the summer.
you remember telling ryunjin how anytime you were at the mall, you saw jay there and he would be staring at you wide-eyed, then quickly walk away.
same at any coffee shop, cafeterias on campus and so forth.
you remember telling ryunjin how you always felt someone was watching you as you undressed.
later that evening you prepared a variety of snacks for jay, and spread out all materials that would be needed for the project.
he had texted you and stated he would be at your place by 7:00 pm.
it was 7:05 pm and you got worried, negative thoughts clouding your mind. was he hurt? did he forget? did he stand you up?
at 7:10 pm a knock came to your door, and you giddily got up from your spot on the floor in front of the coffee table and took big strides to open the door.
you opened seeing jay with a smile. “sorry i’m a bit late. uh, something popped up.”
“oh no, is everything okay?” you asked with concern.
jay seemed frazzled and out of sorts than how he usually presents himself or how you see him.
jay shook his head, “i’m good. just probably all in my head.”
“great, let’s get to work!”
you invited jay in your apartment, showing him were you set up the coffee table for working on the project.
“wow you really do have a lot of snacks!” he chuckled. he picked up a few, “and many are my favorite?” this came out more as a question and surprise, his eyebrows raising cutely.
“really? they’re my favorite too!” you giggled. “should we get started? i have a few personality disorders we can explore.”
“sure! what are some you have in mind?”
“well i was researching,” you began, and took a seat on the floor and jay did the same. “some personality disorders that can affect relationships and communication include antisocial personality disorder, borderline personality disorders, histrionic personality disorders and narcissistic personality disorders.” you listed with a smile. “but those are just cluster b that i think have the highest affects.”
“you seem to know a lot about personality disorders?” jay chuckled.
“i should, it’s an interest of mine. like i mentioned, abnormal psychology is one of my favorite subjects. i would love to work with populations most wouldn’t.”
“like who?” jay asked as you piped his interest.
“serial killers, stalkers, criminals, people like them.”
jay nearly choked on his own spit. “why is that?”
you smirked and your hand landed on his shoulder. he looked at your hand nervously, “i just think most are misunderstood.” you smiled widely. “i also just believe the way they think is so interesting and unbelievable.”
jay watched you talk about your passion with not only interest but something more. maybe he was looking at you strangely? looking at you with concern?
“well, this project should be breeze then.” he laughed nervously. he was more than ready to leave.
as you all continued to work on the project at a good pace, you and jay couldn’t help but still glances at one another.
two and half hours later, jay stood with a stretch, “it’s getting late, i should go.” he stated. “thank you for the snacks.”
he started packing up his things, as you began cleaning up a little. once his backpack strap was over his shoulder, he looked into your kitchen seeing a vase of flowers, a tag that clearly showed it was from the flower shop he worked at over the summer.
jay got nervous and fearful. he quickly adverted his gaze before you caught him looking. but unknown to him, you saw him out of the corner of your eye looking at the flowers, but you decided to keep quiet about it.
“so, i’ll see you tomorrow?” you asked hopeful.
jay’s voice shook with nerves, “um, i’ll text you. i forgot i have something planned with my friends tomorrow.” he smiled politely, but quickly bid goodbye and left your apartment.
︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
jay laid in bed after showering wide awake for a while. his nerves had gotten the better of him.
you had showered and put on some comfy clothes to enjoy your favorite show after jay left.
jay soon fell asleep, and one thing about jay was he was a heavy sleeper. almost nothing could wake him up so easily. his friends would tease him about it, but it was just who he was.
you weren’t a heavy sleeper on the other hand. which is why to every small noise you would awake, or had almost a third sense of being over cautionary fearful someone was always watching.
the flowers in the trash looked at you almost mockingly, and you closed your fist so tight, your nails were sure to dig into your knuckles.
such an angel while sleeping. so peaceful.
yes jay was. you smiled lovingly looking down at him as you watched him from his doorway as he slept soundly. you stepped quietly closer to him to get as close as possible, when you took out your polaroid camera.
after watching your favorite show which starred jay, him getting undressed and redressed, you were hot and bothered and couldn’t wait until you could finally make your move.
but it would take time. he wouldn’t understand you, or your habits, or how your brain worked.
you could see he was judging you earlier about the way you spoke about your passion.
but he would come around. he had to.
you knew he got stumbled by the flowers in your apartment. if he questioned, you would’ve just waved it off as a coincidence you got it for yourself, or maybe tell him you had a secret admirer to see if he would get jealous.
would he? you had a feeling he would be the jealous and possessive type of what belongs to him.
you sure were. possessive, jealous, of any girl that he talked to. he didn’t know better, but those women should! you thought, they couldn’t compare to you anyway.
when it came to your tactics, you had to be careful. you didn’t want to scare him off too soon. so this project was a great way to wiggle yourself into his bubble.
you fantasized so much about your future with jay. it blurred the line between fact and fictitious, and you were so deep into the obsession, you didn’t understand or even see the line anymore.
you didn’t want to blackmail him—not yet. the flowers were enough for now.
your love for jay made you crazy.
no one could blame you. that’s just how love was, right?
“don’t blame me.” you whispered to jay as you ran your fingers lightly through his hair with a smile.

A fit of jealousy - Akaza x Reader x Douma
Synopsis: Douma's constant touches on you ignite a raging fire of jealousy in Akaza, causing him to grow increasingly angry
Akaza watched from a distance as Douma pulled you close, his arms wrapped around your waist as he whispered something in your ear. He could feel his blood boil as he watched the way you giggled and leaned into Douma's touch. It was becoming unbearable to watch his partner being constantly touched by Douma. As he approached the two of you, Douma gave him a smug grin before turning his attention back to you. Akaza gritted his teeth, trying to control the anger that was building up inside of him. He couldn't believe that Douma was so bold to touch his partner in front of him like that. "Douma," Akaza growled, his voice low and menacing. "Can I speak with you for a moment?"
Douma shrugged, releasing his hold on you. "Sure thing, Akaza-dono!"
As Akaza and Douma walked away, you watched them go with a confused expression. You had no idea what had just happened, but you knew it couldn't be good.
Once they were out of earshot, Akaza turned to Douma with a scowl. "What the hell is wrong with you? Why do you insist on touching Y/N like that?"
Douma rolled his eyes, clearly not intimidated by Akaza's anger. "Oh come on, Akaza-dono! You know there's nothing going on between us. It's just harmless fun, and I like her much."
Akaza's scowl deepened. "It's not harmless. It's disrespectful. You have no right to touch her like that."
Douma crossed his arms, a smirk on his face. "And who are you to tell me what I can and cannot do? Last time I checked, she's her own person, not your property."
Akaza's fists clenched at his sides. "I never said she was my property, but she is my partner. And as her partner, I expect you to show her some respect."
Douma raised an eyebrow. "And what if I don't? What are you going to do about it, Akaza-dono?"
Akaza took a step forward, his eyes blazing with anger. "If you don't stop touching her like that, I'll make you regret it."
Douma let out a laugh. "Is that a threat? I thought you were better than that, Akaza-dono! You're just jealous because you know you can't make her feel the way I do, and I'm not putting in much effort!"
Akaza's rage boiled over. Before he even realized what he was doing, he had swung a punch at Douma. In a swift and merciless motion, he struck Douma's head, severing upper part of his head from the rest. Blood sprayed everywhere, drenching the wooden floor with crimson.
As soon as Douma took the hit, his body reacted almost instantly. The wound that was inflicted on him started to regenerate, the demon's regenerative powers quickly healing the damaged tissue. Within moments, the wound had disappeared, leaving only a faint scar as evidence of the attack. Douma retaliated with a swipe of his fan.
Akaza dodged with ease, his eyes glinting with fury as he lunged forward again.
The two of them circled each other, both ready to fight. You trailed them into the adjacent chamber and watched with horror, not knowing what to do. You had never seen Akaza like this before, and it scared you. Akaza proved to be a devoted partner, with his caring nature and protective demeanor, yet when it came to Douma, his boundaries seemed to vanish. As the tension between Akaza and Douma escalated, you could feel the anger and resentment radiating off of them in waves. You knew that this argument was about to spiral out of control, and you couldn't let that happen. Without hesitation, you stepped between the two of them, facing Akaza and placing a gentle hand on his chest. "Enough. This is ridiculous. You're both acting like a bunch of children."
Akaza glared at Douma. "He's the one who started it." Akaza's eyes blazed with fury as he glared at Douma over your shoulder, but your presence seemed to have a calming effect on him. Slowly, he began to relax, his muscles unclenching as he took a deep breath.
Douma held up his hands in surrender. "Fine. You won, I'll back off. Just calm down, Akaza-dono! It's not worth getting this worked up over, but if anyone were to ask for my subjective opinion, which I doubt any of you care about or value, I would suggest seeking anger management classes or other means of controlling your recent aggressive behavior, Akaza-dono."
You turned to face the Upper Moon Two, giving him a stern look. "And you," you said, your tone firm but not unkind, "Don't you think you should be more respectful of Akaza's feelings?"
Douma's expression softened, and he nodded. "Well, maybe you're right," he grinned. "I'll be more careful in the future, although comprehending emotions is a challenging task for me…"
Akaza snorted derisively. Soon, he took a deep breath, his fists unclenching. He knew that you were right. He couldn't act like a fussy baby. You were the most important thing in his life, and he didn't want to risk losing you over something as stupid as jealousy.
As the tension between the two demons dissipated, you felt a sense of pride and satisfaction wash over you. You knew that you had helped them avoid a potentially disastrous confrontation, and you were grateful for the opportunity to keep the peace.
As the three of you walked away from the confrontation, Akaza pulled you close, his arm protectively wrapped around your waist. He knew that he couldn't stop Douma from being who he was, but he also knew that he would do anything to protect you.

this is my Valentine's Day surprise that I've been talking about, so happy Valentine's Day to you all! <3
based on the Taylor Swift song of the same name
Anthony Lockwood masterlist
It was nearly 2 in the morning, and Y/n L/n was exhausted.
She had been on a case for the last seven hours and everything hurt and ached - including places in her body she didn't even know she had - and she just wanted her bed and an incredibly large cup of tea.
So why was she having to babysit three other agents who really should have been old enough to look after themselves?
Two of them seemed to be high on flare fumes, giggling about absolutely nothing and making weird sounds every few seconds. The third was smiling fondly at his friends and coworkers, but wasn't doing anything to stop them from getting closer and closer to the edge of their sanity.
Y/n sighed for the millionth time in the last ten minutes, and the third agent (the one who wasn't as insane as the other two - she'd nicknamed him Beanpole) looked over from where he was leaning back against the DEPRAC van with his arms crossed. Somehow he looked effortlessly cool and relaxed, despite the plasma stains and dirt covering his entire body.
“Are you alright?” he asked.
“I'm fine, just want to go home and stop looking after three other agents.”
“Ah, that’s fair. Wait, 'looking after’?”
“Yeah, Barnes told me to keep an eye on you three 'cause you were in trouble or something.”
“Oh, we're not in trouble,” he grinned, and although she rolled her eyes she couldn't deny the way her heart skipped a beat at his smile. “Barnes just likes being dramatic. We didn't do anything.” Somehow she didn't believe him, but the sheer amount of charm that was pouring out of him was making her disregard any concerns she had about how truthful he was being.
“So what is it that you aren't in trouble for then?” His grin only grew wider, and Y/n found herself smiling back.
“Minor property damage. But in our defence our client didn't warn us about the malignant smoke that she'd seen creeping out of the basement or even the intense waves of nausea she felt when walking past her under stairs cupboard. So we really can't take any of the blame for completely decimating her bannisters and front hall. Plus, we're insured.”
“No you're not,” Barnes interrupted, joining the conversation and holding a manilla folder. “You didn't have your DEPRAC standardised iron chains, Lockwood. Not according to this report.” That made Beanpole (Lockwood? Although that didn't sound much like a name) stand up, uncrossing his arms as a frown decorated his pretty face.
“What? But we did, I made sure after Mrs Hope's house.” Y/n didn't know what had happened at Mrs Hope's house, but from the way Barnes was frowning even more than usual and somehow looking even more unimpressed with Beanpole she figured she didn't want to know. “You can go in and check if you like, they're still in the hall.”
“Fine. L/n, you go in and check.”
“What?”
“Just check the chains are there, then come back. They managed to at least get rid of the ghosts.”
“Alright,” she grumbled, hoisting her belt up a little and trudging off in the direction of the building Barnes had pointed her to. She shouldn't even be here, since she was meant to have been at home around half an hour ago, but now she was making her way into some random woman's house to carry out a job that any random DEPRAC officer could have done (if what Barnes had said about the other agents removing the Visitors was true). She pushed open the door, glad for her gloves at the chill in the air, and scoffed when she immediately laid eyes on the thick iron chains that had been kicked to the side in the fight. Y/n picked them up, huffing under the added weight, and was about to turn and leave when her eyes caught on the state of the front hall. “What the actual fuck…” she whispered, then shook her head and closed the door behind her, choosing to ignore the mess inside.
“Well?” Barnes demanded when she'd made her way back. She dropped the chains at his feet.
“Yep. I don't know why I had to do that though, anyone could have looked.” She was being irritable, she knew, but she thought she was perfectly justified in feeling that way.
“Alright.” Barnes looked unhappy about the whole situation too, but that wasn't Y/n's fault. “Then just sign these papers and you three can go.” Beanpole was smiling smugly, and he nodded and took the papers that Barnes handed him.
“Thank you, Inspector. Luce, George, here.” They were both still laughing at something only they knew about, clutching their sides as they took the sheets of paper that Beanpole handed them.
“Can I go home too?” Y/n asked Barnes while the others signed the forms.
“Yeah. Maybe catch a ride with these three, they're your way.”
“Fine.”
A few minutes later the four of them were piled into a taxi and heading off down the road in the direction of Marylebone.
“So,” Beanpole started. The moon was shining bright on his face through the taxi window, making him look like a Visitor himself when combined with his already pale skin and the dark shadows under his eyes. He still looked effortlessly gorgeous though, and Y/n found herself wondering if he was single. “You're an agent then. Solo?”
“Oh, yeah. Never liked working for the big companies. They never really cared about the people, you know? Shit,” her eyes widened as she realised what she'd said. “Are you a company?”
“Yes, but don't worry. We have a grand total of four people at our agency. Sometimes five or six if we get extra help from others.”
“That's... very small. Is the fourth your supervisor?”
“No, our secretary actually. Holly doesn't much like being in the field anymore though, but that works out alright for us. She still gets paid a good amount.”
“So if you don't have a supervisor…”
“I'm the agency head,” he smiled, but now instead of appearing chipper and light, he looked tired and weighed down by the responsibility of running a company and looking after his coworkers. “Anthony Lockwood, Lockwood and Co.”
“Y/n L/n, formerly of Fittes.” They shook hands awkwardly in the limited space they had in the back of the taxi.
“And you left because they don't care about the people?”
“That's right. I always wanted to connect more, but I guess that's because of my Touch. Fittes were much more businesslike about it all, just going in and getting the job done and not caring about anything other than having another successful case under their belt. It just didn't sit right with me.”
“Well if you ever feel like working for a company again, you could always come and work with us,” Anthony Lockwood said. “I'm sure we could do with someone like you helping us out. Besides, we do care about the people; it's pretty much the only thing going for us other than our skill in the field.”
“First stop?” the driver called out, slowing the vehicle.
“Oh, that's me,” Y/n stated, grabbing the door handle and getting out. “Thanks for letting me ride with you.” She moved to the boot of the taxi to take her kit bag and rapier, and was surprised when Anthony Lockwood followed her, helping her to balance all the bags inside and making sure that nothing fell out. “Thank you.”
“Not a problem. And I mean it, if you ever feel like joining us on a case then just come and find us.”
“That's... that's actually nice of you, thank you.” He nodded with a smile, then clambered back into the taxi (which looked difficult with how long and thin his limbs were). She stood on the pavement for a few moments, waiting for the taxi to start moving again and waving at the three agents left in the cab as they drove off down the road.
As soon as she was inside her shared house, door firmly shut and locked and kettle boiling on the stove, she pulled up the chair at her desk and switched on her computer, typing in her password and logging in. Ten minutes later she had a mug of tea brewing on her desk while she furiously tapped at the keyboard for any information on Lockwood and Co, and was pleasantly surprised by what she found. There wasn't much, since she couldn't access a lot of the full reports of cases, but there was a decent number of newspaper articles that had been uploaded for her to read. One detailed the £60,000 fine that the company had been given for setting fire to a certain Mrs Hope's home a few years prior, and from the blurry black and white photo the blaze looked like it hadn't left much behind.
Further research provided an address for their agency at 35 Portland Row, not far away from where she currently lived. One or two articles were about the parade incident from the Black Winter and Lockwood and Co's success in protecting the people present, but other than that there wasn't much more.
She sat back in her chair, sipping the last of her tea. Bedtime for now, but when she finally woke up she'd head to the nearest corner store and pick up some food. The fridge had been nearly empty when she'd looked earlier, and she knew that Portland Row was on the way back.
She wanted to say thank you again (and totally not spy on their house), and everybody loved a doughnut.
~~~
Y/n had knocked on the door roughly two minutes ago, and nobody had answered.
She knew that they were all at home, because she could hear them arguing about who was going to answer the door, but nobody had done it yet.
Knocking once more while balancing the box of doughnuts in her other hand she sighed, waited another thirty seconds, and just as she turned to leave she heard the locks click behind her. The door swung open to reveal Anthony Lockwood, once more dressed in a suit (a lot cleaner than the one he'd been wearing in the early hours of that morning), and a wide smile on his face.
“It's you! Miss L/n, was it?”
“Uh, yeah. Just Y/n is fine though. Um, I just wanted to say thanks again for the lift last night, and for being nice and shit when you didn't have to be, and I bought some doughnuts if you guys wanted them.” She tried to surreptitiously peer around him to take a look at his front hall, but the interior was quite dark and cluttered and it was difficult to pretend to not be inspecting somebody's home when they were stood in front of you.
“Oh, you really didn't have to, Y/n.” He took the box out of her hands anyway. “Did you want to come in?”
“No, thank you. I should get back. I've got a lot of paperwork to get through and I think one of my housemates is cleaning today and wanted everyone's help, so…” she trailed off, rocking slightly on her heels while Anthony Lockwood watched her.
“Right, well, thanks for stopping by! And for the doughnuts, that was very generous of you.”
She shrugged. “I've had taxi rides with people I was actually working with and they were complete arseholes to me, so I really appreciated you not being like that when you didn't even know me.”
“Anytime.” He paused for a moment, then frowned at her. “How did you find us? I know I said that you could always drop by but I don't remember actually telling you where we live. There's not a problem with it, by the way, just curious.”
“Oh, I looked it up. Figured you meant to tell me and never got round to it. Besides, I needed to go shopping anyway and I live nearby, so it wasn't too difficult for me.”
“Ah, that makes sense. Well it was lovely seeing you again, Y/n. I look forward to our next meeting.” His smile was infectious, and she still had a grin on her face at the thought of him when she went to bed that night.
~~~
For the next few months, both Y/n and Lockwood and Co were busy with their own cases, but regularly passed each other in the street. Anthony Lockwood had taken to sending her a wink or flirty quite early on, and because Y/n believed it impossible that someone like him was single and therefore able to chase after someone like her, she ignored him. Every now and then she would indulge him, of course, flirting back to see how he would react (he was always pleasantly surprised and kept their little game going for as long as he could before he was needed), but for the most part she would walk right past him.
It wasn't entirely her fault, since many of the times they bumped into each other she was on a time schedule, and didn't have the extra minute or so to flirt with the pretty boy.
The last time had been different, though.
~~~
“Hello again, darling,” a voice said from her left, and Y/n smiled when she recognised it right away as Lockwood's. They knew each other better now, from the few times that they had been able to talk for longer and ask how the other was doing, and when he had found out that she was calling him Anthony Lockwood in her head he gave her a look of barely contained amusement and told her she could pick one.
Anthony had felt too personal, since everyone else that spoke to him seemed to call him Lockwood, and she didn't think they knew each other that well for her to use his first name.
“Come here often?” he asked, appearing in her field of view and leaning on the table she was sat at in the small night café.
“Only when I know that you're going to be here,” Y/n responded, and delighted in the faint pink tinge that came onto his cheeks.
“May I?” He gestured to the chair opposite her, and she nodded.
“Not with your friends tonight?”
“No, they're probably at home already, lucky bastards. My case ran on a bit longer than I expected, and I couldn't wait for a cup of tea. Plus, when I saw you in here I couldn't not come and see you.”
They sat there for a while, making their way through two cups of tea each before deciding to leave, and Lockwood offered to take the taxi home with her.
When they were nearly back to Y/n's house, he spoke up.
“I'll pay, if you like. I'll be paying for this stretch of the journey anyway so it doesn't make much of a difference to me.”
“Oh, Lockwood, I can pay you for my part at least, it's not a big deal to me.”
“Nonsense.” He seemed to hesitate for a moment, just as they drove around the corner onto her street. “Or… you could come back to Portland Row with me?” Their flirting had never gone as far as properly inviting the other back to their place (although there had always been the comments of 'why don't we finish this somewhere else?' or 'wanna come home with me and prove it?'), and it took Y/n a moment to realise that he was being serious.
“I mean... if you're sure? I don't want to impose or anything.”
“No, you won't be imposing, darling. George and Lucy will be asleep, I'm sure. I think there's half a bottle of wine that needs finishing off if you wanted to share? No pressure though.”
“That sounds great, actually.”
“So are you two both going to Portland Row then?” the driver called, and Lockwood nodded.
“Yes please.” He turned back to Y/n, worry starting to creep into his expression. “You did agree, right?”
“Yes, Lockwood, I did. I think I need something that's not tea to be honest.”
“You can stay the night, too. If you need to. I'll sleep on the sofa and you can have my bed.”
“I'm not kicking you out of your own bed, Lockwood. How big is it?”
“Darling, I'm scandalised that you would ask me that question. You know that size doesn't mat-” He was cut off by Y/n smacking him in the chest, and he chuckled when she glared at him.
“The bed, Lockwood, how big is the bed? If I wanted to know the size of your dick I'd ask you to strip.” She ignored the weird look that the driver cast them in his rear view mirror and focused on Lockwood's answer instead.
“Steady, darling. We're not back yet.” He yelped when she whacked him again, and caught her wrists and held them so that she couldn't attack him anymore. “It's a double.”
“Well then we can both fit, can't we?”
“Asking me to strip, getting me into bed with you? If I didn't know any better, darling, I'd say that you were trying to seduce me,” he smirked, leaning in close.
“Oh, Lockwood. I think we both know I did that a long time ago, don't we.” They were dangerously close to kissing, their lips only a couple of centimetres away from each other while their noses brushed with every jolt in the road, and then the taxi was slowing and pulling up to the curb outside 35 Portland Row.
“Alright you two, out. And use protection please, you're too young to be havin' kids.” Y/n flushed and opened the door, moving around to the boot to take out her kit bag and rapier, and when Lockwood followed a moment later after paying the driver his face was red too.
~~~
“Here,” Lockwood said, handing over a tea mug filled with wine.
“Thanks. You're sure the others won't mind us drinking this?”
“They've had plenty of time to drink it, and I own the house and therefore the kitchen and the contents of the fridge are mine too, so I say it's fair game.” His smile was slightly blinding, but Y/n had learned to see past the glare and look at his eyes instead, finding the pure joy behind the façade he put up for the world to see.
They didn't know each other that well, when everything was considered, but Y/n did call him her friend when describing their relationship, and she did feel that if asked, Lockwood would say the same.
Around thirty minutes later Y/n was nearly doubled over with laughter at some stupid thing that Lockwood had said (the wine had gone straight to her head and she had no recollection of what exactly he had said), clutching her sides as they sat in the cluttered library with the bottle of wine between them.
“You, Anthony Lockwood, are ridiculous!”
“I am! In fact, have I shown you my hat collection?”
“Is that some sort of weird euphemism? Or are you genuinely more deranged than I thought you were?”
“Not a euphemism, love,” he grinned, and Y/n in her wine-addled state thought about how he was starting to look like the deranged young man she'd just accused him of being.
“So... you actually have a hat collection? Why?” Lockwood shrugged.
“It's good for disguises when I need to do a little bit of extra research for a case. I can do accents too!”
“No offence, Lockwood, but I've heard some of your accents, and I'm very surprised that you haven't been hunted down and killed yet.”
“Believe me, people have tried!” Somehow he didn't look concerned about that, still smiling just as widely as before, and Y/n thought he looked rather nice like that.
~~~
When she woke up in the morning, Y/n realised she had never taken the painkillers Lockwood had left on the bedside table for her to use.
“Shit,” she whispered, grabbing the packet and the glass of water and swallowing the pills the best she could in an attempt to stave off the headache that had formed. After finishing off the wine, Lockwood had managed to find some more alcohol hidden away in a cupboard in the library ("It's my personal stash, so don't worry about feeling guilty about drinking this") and they had stayed up until it was nearly sunrise talking about everything and nothing. She was regretting not drinking the water before sleeping, and when she flopped back onto the bed and under the covers she realised that there was someone else in the bed with her.
Lockwood looked peaceful asleep.
While she didn't mind waking up next to him in the morning (the view was actually rather nice), not being able to remember what had happened the night before was a little disturbing, especially since she was in her underwear and, as far as she could tell, Lockwood wasn't wearing any clothes.
The bedsheets had been partially kicked off in the night, most likely because the heating was apparently on full from the very warm temperature of the room, and the duvet had bunched up around Lockwood's waist. She didn't want to wake him by trying to find out if anything had happened last night, since he probably never slept with the sheer size of the shadows under his eyes, so instead she carefully got out of bed and picked up her clothes.
Finding all of her things was difficult, since they'd been flung all around the room in what she hoped was drunkenness and not desperation, but after nearly ten minutes she was dressed and reaching for the door handle. She didn't make it that far though, because before she could leave the sounds of somebody waking up started coming from the bed, and Lockwood was asking her where she was going.
“Oh, I just... I just figured you wouldn't want me to stick around-”
“Why would you think that?” He was rubbing his eyes and sitting up, and she had to force her gaze away from where the sheets were dangerously close to revealing whether or not they had slept together.
“I don't know.” There was silence for a minute or so while Lockwood tried to wake up enough to work out what was going on, and Y/n stood by the door feeling very awkward. “Did we... did anything happen? Last night?”
“Don't think so. I feel like I would remember that, darling,” he winked, and she felt her face heat up.
“Oh, right. Yeah.”
“You don't seem convinced.”
“No, I am,” she said, very unconvincingly. There was another silence while she hesitated. “Are you naked?” she blurted out, immediately covering her face with her hands to block out Lockwood's shocked reaction. His laughter didn't help, only serving to make her feel more embarrassed than she already was, and she stayed safely behind her hands while she waited for it all to be over.
“No, darling, I'm not naked. But if you wanted me to be then I'm sure we could figure something out.” She could hear the amusement in his voice and groaned in frustration, knowing that he wouldn't ever let her live this moment down.
“I'm good, thanks.” She didn't really mean it, but it was nice to have a friend like Lockwood, and she figured that having sex with him probably wouldn't help to keep that friendship at all.
“Alright. Well if you don't want to see me in my pants then keep your hands there, I'm getting out of bed.” For the most part she obeyed, but she would be lying if she said that she didn't peek through her fingers briefly while he was getting dressed.
~~~
Luckily the other members of Lockwood and Co were not at home when Y/n left that morning, having said no to Lockwood's offer of breakfast (she would pick up something from Arif's, even if it was out of her way a little), and within half an hour she was back in her own house with a very large cup of tea and a plate of food in her favourite armchair in the living room.
When one of her housemates asked her where she had been all night, a suggestive tone to her question, Y/n simply shrugged, and replied “What's it to you?”
~~~
One week later she was running for her life.
It wasn't that this sort of thing didn't happen often, since her job required a lot of running a lot of the time, but normally she wasn't this exhausted from it. She wasn't even working on a case, either. Y/n had just been walking home from her actual case for that night when she'd accidentally taken a wrong turn in her fatigued state and had come face to face with a bunch of Type Twos.
At least she had her rapier and a few flares and salt bombs left, and her boots were solid enough that despite how much running she had already done that night, she couldn't feel the ground beneath her feet when normally her soles would be protesting in pain.
“Fuck's sake,” she grumbled, heading for the nearest iron fence she could find. Unfortunately she still had to cross a road that was surprisingly busy at this time of night (or morning? she wasn't sure where the line between the two was drawn) and then vault over the fence into the park, which was probably also infested with Visitors. Going against every action movie she had ever seen she looked back (which was precisely what she shouted at the characters for), then immediately stumbled since she couldn't see where she was going. Her brief pause in her flight allowed the Visitors to catch up a little, and within a few seconds she was seeing her life flash before her eyes and throwing up her rapier in a last ditch attempt to not die.
Then something else was flashing before her eyes, and the ghosts were being driven off.
Y/n realised with a start that the flash had been Lockwood and his stupid grin, dressed in his stupid long coat that was stupidly attractive on him, waving his rapier around in stupidly perfect motions.
“Did you miss me, darling?” She didn't even have time to respond, already ducking to not be hit by the bicycle a Poltergeist had sent flying their way, and Lockwood pushed her to the ground to dodge the railing that followed. They landed with a thump, and Y/n winced when her back hit the concrete of the pavement and then again a very brief moment later when Lockwood landed on her.
“I did, Lockwood. I really did miss you.” She hoped that he could see how sincere she was, and he looked as though he was about to say something. Unfortunately he was cut off when a badly-aimed salt bomb exploded right above their heads, and a small “Sorry!” was called out from somewhere nearby.
“Not to worry, George!” Lockwood yelled back as he got off the floor. He offered out a hand and Y/n let him pull her up, holding her breath when he pulled with more force than was needed and she fell into his chest. “Woah,” he said, voice quiet. “You alright?” His free hand had come up to steady her by the arm, and now he was gently stroking up and down. She wondered if he knew he was doing it.
“Yeah. Can we maybe run away from the death bikes?”
“I think that would be a good idea. You going home?” Y/n shook her head.
“One of my housemates has their partner over, and I'd really rather not be there. I was gonna put up with it but if you're offering your bed again I won't say no,” she teased. Lockwood's face went pink, but not from the cold or the running.
“I'm always offering my bed, darling, you should know that by now.” His smile was as blinding as the flash he had appeared in, and then he was tugging her hand and leading her away from the ghosts (which wouldn't be able to follow after a while, since she'd already run quite far from their Sources), and instead heading for 35 Portland Row.
When they made it inside (Lucy was already in bed, but Lockwood and George had been coming back from a case like Y/n), George bade the two of them goodnight, then tiredly climbed the stairs, leaving Lockwood and Y/n in the front hall. It was dimly lit, only the lamp on the hall cupboard providing any reprise from the darkness, and the yellow glow of it made Lockwood look ethereal.
He had dust and dirt all over him, staining his usually perfect white shirt and tie, and his hair was a mess from the slight wind outside, but he still wore his confidence and his charm like a second skin, and he had never looked more like Anthony Lockwood in all the time Y/n had known him.
“What were you even doing out there?” he asked.
“I was coming back from a job, took a wrong turn somewhere, and came face to face with those fuckers. I'm just really glad that you were there in time because I probably would've ended up in hospital otherwise. Or a furnace.”
“I'm glad I was there too,” Lockwood said, stepping forward. He made to move his hand, as though he might reach out and touch hers, but then his fist was clenching at his side again, fingers flexing every few seconds. “I thought you would be alright, really. Then I saw you trip - why the hell did you look back? You always get annoyed when they do that in movies. I was scared, Y/n, that you might not get back up again.” She could tell that he meant it too, from the way he was looking at her. It was almost too much, his gaze, since it was heavy with so much emotion that they hadn't even properly addressed between them, and that was probably why he kissed her.
She both had and hadn't been expecting it.
It made sense when she thought about it, because beneath all the teasing and flirting there was attraction and a real desire, and she had always figured that being with someone was easier if you knew and trusted them. But she had never thought that either of them would act on it, since both of them seemed happy to let the friendship cover up the truth because at least that meant they weren't without the other. Bringing the truth to light could ruin that, and then they might not see each other at all.
Now, though, she wondered why they hadn't kissed before.
It had been brief, a few seconds at most, but it was enough to make her realise that they had been incredibly stupid in not doing it earlier. She had had such a long night - they both had - and when he pressed his lips to hers for the second time she knew that despite the fatigue and near death experiences involving bicycles, they would be alright. Her hands had moved without her fully knowing, and when they pulled away after the second kiss she realised that they were in his hair and clutching his coat that he hadn't taken off yet. His were nestled around her waist, holding her close to him while he searched her eyes for any sign to stop.
The third kiss was the longest yet, and it took them a long time to move from the front hall to his bedroom.
~~~
Y/n had always been a fan of anything that shone, and had been called a magpie by nearly everyone that knew her.
It didn't matter if it was expensive or not, if it was shiny, then she would have it. Growing up she hadn't been used to expense, and finding trinkets on the street was her speciality, but every now and then someone would buy her something a little less on the cheap side, and she would be overjoyed.
Then of course there were the things she bought herself.
The Fittes Ball that she was on her way to had invited agents of all kinds (a rarity for solo agents who usually went forgotten), and her outfit was one of the most expensive things that she had bought yet (other than her shared house). It was worth it, though, for the look on Lockwood's face when he first saw her.
“You look incredible, Y/n/n!” Lucy gushed, immediately wrapping her new friend in a hug. George and Holly agreed, and while their fussing was nice it was Lockwood's opinion she really wanted. They hadn't spoken after the night they spent together two weeks ago, and now he had an unreadable expression on his face while he looked at her. It was ridiculous, really, how nervous she was to know what he was thinking, since she had never usually cared about what any man thought of her.
“Thank you, I love your dress, Luce! And George, are you actually in a suit? No, no, no, you look very nice! Holly, you look incredible as always,” she said, returning the compliments her friends had given her. Her gaze kept darting back to Lockwood though, and after the others had moved away to talk to someone else, he cleared his throat.
“Y/n.”
“Lockwood.” He took a step towards her.
“You know I told you you could call me Anthony.” He had, not long after he'd taken her to his bed.
“Oh, right. I didn't know if that was just... for then.” She was struggling to look at him now, so she missed the way his expression softened.
“It's for whenever, darling.”
“Okay,” she said, and the small smile he gave her made her heart beat a little faster in her chest.
“You look stunning, darling. Truly.”
“So do you, Anthony,” she replied, and this time she took a step forward to close the distance. A frown came onto her face, and when he asked her why she paused for a moment before answering. “What are we? Because we haven't spoken since... since that night, and now we're acting like we did before and I'm just quite confused.”
Instead of responding with words, he dug into his suit jacket pocket and pulled out a folded paper, handing it to her a second later. She tried not to focus too much on his hands (the memories of two weeks ago were coming back to the front of her mind now) and took it with confusion, starting to unfold it.
“Oh, I'll be back in a minute, George is calling me over.” He flashed her one of his winning smiles and was off, moving in what she assumed was the direction of George. She finally unfolded the paper and was surprised to see that it was mostly blank, just one question and two little points below it. A pen had been folded into it, and she bit back a smile when she'd read the words.

He was ridiculous, she had decided, but then again she couldn't deny how ridiculously cute it was that he'd written out this mini questionnaire and put it in his pocket, despite not knowing whether she would actually be here or not to take it from him. Why he'd left immediately she didn't know, but maybe he was just too nervous to find out her reaction right away. She clicked the pen and circled 'yes' the best she could with no hard surface to lean on, and winced when the paper punctured. He knew where to find her, but she wrote her address anyway and the house phone number, and refolded the paper. Looking around she couldn't immediately see him, but then she caught a flash of a smile that could only have belonged to one Mr Anthony Lockwood, and she made for where he stood. He blushed slightly when he caught sight of her, then his cheeks burned brighter when she tucked the piece of paper and the pen in the pocket just inside his jacket (standing much closer to him than she needed to), and walked away without a word.
~~~
Two hours later they had snuck into the Fittes building's public library, giggling about something stupid one of the stuck-up snobs who was far too old to still be alive had said while they sipped the fancy champagne that was being served.
“Do you think they get many kids in here? Like, actual kids who would need entertaining?” she asked, making Anthony look round from where he'd been perusing the shelves.
“I doubt it. Why?”
“They've got origami. Look,” she pointed, putting her champagne flute down on a sideboard and picking up a sheet. “I used to be able to make loads of things, but I reckon if I tried making a rabbit or something now it'd look like someone folded a bit of paper a bunch of times and then sat on it.”
“I used to make those snowflakes where you fold it into quarters and cut bits out. Got quite good in the end; I could make chains of them eventually.”
“Of course you're good at making paper snowflakes,” she muttered, no hint of malice behind it. “You're good at everything, I swear.”
“Oh, that's not true.”
“Really? Name one thing that you can't do.” He paused, and she could practically see the cogs turning in his head. “See? You can't do it!”
“Well, I don't think that was very fair, actually, because you didn't give me long enough to actually think about it!” She moved to sit down, picking out various colours of paper squares before settling on one she liked. Anthony sat down next to her, his thigh close enough to hers that she could feel his body heat through his suit. He chose his own square of paper, immediately starting to fold it in different ways.
“What are you gonna make?” she asked him, not looking up from where she was attempting to make an origami butterfly.
“That's a secret.”
“Alright then,” she snorted, “be mysterious. Is that because you're bad at origami and you're trying to hide it by making me guess?”
“Sure, that's what's happening.”
They sat in comfortable silence while they worked, and when Y/n crossed her legs she made contact with Anthony's knee and drew in a breath. She refocused and looked at the paper in her hands, frowning when she realised that she had no idea how to make a butterfly out of it anymore, and sat back with a huff.
“You alright?”
“Yeah, just bored, I suppose. What are you making?” He had folded his piece of paper into a thin strip, and now he was pulling the ends together, somehow making them link.
“May I?” he asked, gesturing to her right hand. She didn't answer for a moment, too busy watching the way his fingers moved. “Y/n?”
“Oh, right.” She let him take her left hand in his, holding her breath for the millionth time around him both at the tenderness of it all and at the way his hands were so cold compared to her warm ones. He lifted the origami up and slid it onto her fourth finger, tightening it by pushing the ends together further.
“You can take it off, if you want.”
She wasn't sure she was breathing. “Are you proposing?”
“What? No, if I was proposing you'd know about it, darling. I just… I don’t know.” He looked nervous, and although he hadn’t let go of her hand, she could see that he was fidgeting.
“I love it, Anthony. Thank you.” He smiled then, small and as under as the way he was holding her hand, and she couldn’t help but ask what she’d been wondering for the last two hours.
“Did you read my response?” Somehow he softened even more, and his grip tightened ever so slightly before he nodded.
“Yes, I did.” Had he moved closer? She thought the distance between them was no longer as frustratingly large as it had been, but he was still too far away.
“Well?”
“Are you free on Saturday? There’s a great place for lunch I’ve been dying to show you for a while now.” He was definitely closer, and she could make out the small scar on his lip in perfect detail.
“Midday work for you?”
“Absolutely.” He was still holding her hand when he kissed her gently, like he thought she might leave at any moment, and when he pulled back after a couple of seconds she dragged him right back to her lips, shifting somehow even closer to him on the seat. The gift he had made that now sat on her finger felt as heavy as a gold one, filled with the promise of what could be and happy endings, and she found herself thinking that if the two of them did ever marry, she would be happy to do so with a paper ring.
They were sat there kissing for a while, not stopping until someone shouted outside the door in drunken laughter, making Anthony and Y/n jump back in surprise. Then they were laughing too, like they were teenagers sneaking off (which, she supposed, they almost were, if you ignored the fact they were legally adults now), and he pressed one last quick kiss to her mouth before he stood up. “We should head out. I’m sure the others will be wondering where we are.” Y/n stood up too, still holding his hand, and moved to straighten his tie. She had pulled on it when they were kissing, and now it was all crooked around his neck.
“I think they probably know that we’re together, though. I doubt that they’re too worried about us.” She finished fiddling with his tie and draped her arms around his neck, and flushed when he wrapped his own arms around her waist and pulled her tight against his body. They stayed that way for a while, just trading small kisses and swaying gently back and forth.
“I’m glad,” Anthony said suddenly, breaking the silence. “That we… you know.”
“Nearly died and then slept together?”
“That’s one way of putting it. I just - I’m glad.”
“I’m glad too, Anthony.” Normally accidents like having sex with her friends was something she hated, but given it was Anthony Lockwood that it had happened with, she was happy to make an exception.
~~~
That night, while Anthony finally managed to sleep next to her, Y/n stayed awake. The glow of the ghost lamp outside had woken her a few minutes ago while she had been surfacing, and now she couldn’t get back to sleep. Her dress hung on the back of his desk chair, and various parts of his suit were slung around the room in piles from where they had thrown them earlier in their haste to be as close as possible to each other.
The ring now sat on Anthony’s bedside table, and although it wasn’t light enough in the room for her to make out its shape, she still knew exactly where it was. Before the two of them got too caught up in each other she had slipped it off, saying that she didn’t want it damaged (as it likely would have been), and when she placed it to the side her eyes had caught on the photo in the frame.
“Is that us?” she had asked, grabbing the frame with both hands.
“Oh… yes. Sorry, it was just a really nice photo and we don’t get to see each other that much, and-”
“Anthony,” she interrupted, warmth flooding her face at her next words. “I’ve got cut-outs from papers that wrote about you framed, so this is perfectly okay.”
She flushed again just thinking about it, and how softly he had smiled at her, and then how softly he had kissed her afterwards. She had been dreaming about him, about both of them, and what would have happened if they had stayed in the library at Fittes for a little longer (a lot of hushed moans and whispered words, and his hair completely dishevelled).
He was the one that she wanted, she was sure of it. There had been others, but none of them had featured in her thoughts about the future like Anthony Lockwood did.
~~~
Months later, when the seasons had gone from wonderfully warm and sunny (or as sunny as England could get) to cold and biting air, Anthony and Y/n were on a case together.
She had officially become a member of the agency not too long after they started dating, and while Lucy and George had originally been worried about the logistics of living space, they quickly realised that their new hire would be sharing a bed with their boss. Y/n had settled in quickly, getting used to how her friends lived within a few weeks, and the company had settled into a nice rhythm.
“A hotel? That’s a pretty big location, shouldn’t we have Lucy and George with us?” she asked as the taxi pulled up to their destination.
“It seems to be contained to one area, from reports, and since they had a couple of actual children give statements I’m going to trust them. Just the outdoor space around the back, apparently someone - a worker, it says here - died while manning a barbecue near the large pool.”
“How do you die manning a barbecue?”
“He fell face-first into the coals, this says,” Anthony replied, waving the paper report around. They clambered out the taxi, thanking and paying the driver, and once the kit had been collected out the boot and the driver was heading back down the road, they were alone.
“Well that’s an awful way to go. Type One? Or manifesting as something stronger?”
“Everything points to Type Two, but that’s nothing we can’t handle.”
~~~
He was right, as he so often was, but unfortunately the way in which they handled the Type Two ghost of the Barbecue Man meant they ended up jumping in a pool.
The Source had apparently been one of the tiles on the ledge, where the Barbecue Man had tripped after falling face first into the coals and cracked his skull open on the edge of the pool. A delightful scene, Y/n was sure, but they hadn’t figured out what the Source was until much later. While she had been scouring the barbecue for any sign of a trigger for the Visitor, Anthony had been drawing it closer to the pool. He seemed to be having a wonderful time taunting the poor dead man, and she couldn’t help but curse him out a little under her breath. “There’s nothing here!”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, Anthony, I’m pretty sure!” She was just about to tell him off for questioning her when he stepped back on his right foot and made the Visitor shriek an ungodly noise. “Wait! Draw it away from where you currently are!” She wasn’t sure if he’d actually been paying attention to her words since he didn’t give any indication that he had heard her, but a moment later he started moving away, the ghost following him, and she was able to dive for the tile. The second her hands came into contact with it she felt the pain and torment that Barbecue Man had been in in the brief minutes before his death, and at the same time that she managed to dislodge the tile (it had been knocked lose, most likely from his head after he hit it) and wrap it in a silver net, Anthony jumped in the pool. When he surfaced, hair plastered to his forehead and coat and suit completely soaked, he shouted at her to jump in too, leaving the Source on dry land. She just stared at him, but then a rush of cold air hit her and she didn’t think twice. Anthony was waving his arms around, making the water move about enough to fend off the second ghost that had appeared.
Unfortunately that meant that when Y/n attempted to come up for air, she got a face-full of water.
“Anthony!”
“Whoops. Sorry, darling. Here,” he said, offering out his hand. She took it gladly, still spluttering slightly, and they hauled themselves to the opposite side of the swimming pool. The water was freezing, but it was better than being ghost-touched, and besides, Anthony hadn’t let go of her hand yet.
~~~
Her hands were turning a little blue from the temperature of the pool.
It reminded her of when they had been redecorating one of the rooms in Portland Row about two months ago. George had complained that the room was lacking something, and all inhabitants (and Kipps, although Anthony didn’t pay him much attention) agreed that they needed to update it. They had painted it blue, not too dissimilar to the colour of Y/n’s fingers in the present day, and while it had been a wonderful day it had also been the day of her and Anthony’s first fight.
She couldn’t even remember what it had been about now, something stupid and fuelled by external factors such as job stress and fatigue, but Y/n had slept in Lucy’s bed that night.
It had been a while before either girl went to sleep, instead spending the hours attempting to stop Y/n’s crying and watching the old tapes of movies and television shows from before the Problem that Lucy had stashed away on her bookcase. When the morning had come, Lucy had offered to go downstairs and sort out breakfast for them both, so that Y/n wouldn’t have to run into Lockwood, but Y/n had shaken her head, saying that the two of them needed to figure something out.
The moment she had set foot in the kitchen, seeing the back of Anthony’s white dress shirt while he stood at the counter making teas (he had made one for her too, in her favourite mug), she had started tearing up again. He’d heard her sniffling and whipped his head around to see her hovering just inside the doorway, and immediately he had crumbled and rushed over to her, wrapping her in his arms and mumbling “I’m sorry” into her hair.
Now, back from their case with Barbecue Man, they were sat in the library, Anthony pushing a cup of freshly made tea into her hands in an attempt to get them back to their normal colour. “Feeling any better?” he asked, sitting down in the chair next to hers and picking up his magazine.
“Yeah, a bit. I can actually feel things again now, so that’s good.”
“Good. Well, I’ll keep you under surveillance for a while, just until I know you’re better.” She snorted, lifting the mug to her mouth.
“Thanks, Doc. Much appreciated.” His responding smile was enough to warm her up entirely.
~~~
A few hours later she woke up feeling disorientated, most likely because she never remembered falling asleep in the first place. Anthony was still in his chair on her left, but he had fallen asleep too, magazine splayed across his chest. Y/n stretched, yawned, and checked her watch, then started at the time. It was nearly half six in the morning, and they had come back from their case at around midnight. She wasn’t sure how long Anthony had stayed awake watching over her, but she knew that the moment he did finally regain consciousness she would be sending him straight up to bed for another few hours of sleep.
She heard somebody moving around in the kitchen and went to investigate, finding George in an oversized t-shirt and no trousers putting the kettle on to boil. “Morning,” she said, shuffling further into the room and stuffing some bread into the toaster.
“Ah, morning. Lockwood still asleep?”
“Yep. He’s in the library. Did you need him for something?”
“Oh, not really. I woke up at about four and was shockingly hungry, and when I came down he was sat reading his magazine. I was just wondering how long it would be before he was up again.” It made sense for her boyfriend to have stayed awake until he literally passed out from exhaustion, given how little Anthony normally slept anyway, and she frowned when she heard the stairs creak. A few moments later Anthony Lockwood himself appeared in the kitchen, bleary-eyed and smiling like there wasn’t a thing wrong with him only getting about two and a half hours of sleep. “I need the toilet,” George suddenly said. “If you could move out the doorway, Lockwood, that would be great. Thanks. The kettle should be boiled soon, if you two wouldn’t mind?”
“Not at all, George,” Anthony replied, already taking mugs out of the cupboard. “Who’s toast is this? I think it’s burning.”
“Oh, shit, that’s mine! Fuck that’s hot!”
“Not hotter than me though, right?”
“Shut up, Anthony. My fingers are burning.” He reached over and took her hand in his, not caring for the piece of blackened toast that sat on her plate on the counter, and pressed a gentle kiss to each fingertip. She had flashbacks to the last time her hands had been near his mouth in a far less family-friendly setting, and tried to stop her knees from giving out.
“Better?”
“Um… I guess. Yeah.” If anything she was worse, since now her whole body was on fire at how sweet that one gesture was. He hadn’t even thought about it, since there was less than a second between her saying her hand hurt and him kissing the first fingertip, and that had her knees weakening all over again. She took a step towards him, threading her burning fingers with his and placing the other one on his chest to grab at his collar and pull him in for a kiss. He’d had a long night, she was sure of it, and the more-prominent-than-usual bags under his eyes were giving her a solid argument. The kiss was short and sweet, and when she pulled back he followed her for a moment before realising that it was over. He pouted, his eyes practically begging for her to kiss him again, and she let out a small laugh before obliging. That kiss was sweet too, but lasted a little longer, and the third one would have gone on for longer still had George not come back from the toilet and pretended to gag.
~~~
“Anthony?”
“Yeah?”
“Do you ever think about just… leaving for a bit? Not completely, I don’t think I could stay away from London forever, but just running off on holiday for a while. Getting a break from the ghost hunting and constant threat of death.”
“That’s… really? You want to ask that now? Darling, my mind is not in the right place for an actual conversation right now.” His hand trailed over her bare side and his eyes were looking at everything but her face, proving that he really wasn’t in the right mental place for a conversation like this, but she tried again anyway.
“Okay, but do you?” He sighed, reluctantly dragging his gaze up to meet hers.
“I suppose I’ve never really thought about it before.” He paused, shifting his weight to get comfortable. His legs knocked against hers and his hand hadn’t stopped tracing the skin of her body, and he had never taken off the ring he always wore. It had been a pleasant chill against her earlier when she thought she was going to combust from his touch. “I think because of the company I wouldn’t take a break. And I’d have a lot of guilt about leaving when there are people who might be in danger and I could have helped them.”
“But if you could drive away, would you? None of the guilt, or people getting hurt. Just… going off on your own for a bit.”
“I don’t know about alone. I think I would want you with me, darling.” He punctuated his statement by lowering his voice and pulling her closer by her hips, flush against his body, and although she was tired she couldn’t help but feel warm again.
“I’d be happy to drive away with you, Ant. Anywhere you go, I’m going too.”
“You mean it?” he breathed, eyes looking almost golden in the glow of his bedside lamp. He looked desperate for her answer, like he needed to know that she would truly always be with him because he couldn’t stand being left alone again.
“Of course I mean it, Ant. I want it all with you; everything. The complications and fights and of course all the good things too. The horrible Mondays where we get clients who don’t realise that what we do is a full-time job and we don’t really get weekends, the times we do get days off, and we can just be… together.” She ran her fingertips over his arms, marvelling at the hidden muscles she felt. Given how skinny and beanpole-like he appeared, the first time she had realised how toned he was she had been pleasantly surprised. It made sense, she supposed, since he was incredibly proficient with a rapier and had been from a young age, and being that good meant he had to at least be somewhat physically fit and capable (he was very physically capable in other ways, too, something else she had learned early on). She didn’t think she would ever get over how much she loved his arms, or his hands, or how they looked when he rolled his dress shirt sleeves up and folded his arms against his chest, and from the look he was giving her right now he apparently knew that she felt that way.
“You alright, darling?” Good lord, had his voice gone even lower? His eyes had gone from being a honey-golden to a dark syrupy brown, and if what she could feel against her lower half was any indication she could tell that his mind was back to being somewhere other than their conversation. She sounded out of breath when she spoke.
“I’m alright. Do me a favour?”
“Anything.”
“Wrap me in your arms?”
“Absolutely.”
She definitely shouldn’t have this much of an obsession with his arms, but the moment his arms tightened around her torso and her thigh, bringing her on top of him fully while he sat up with her in his lap and kissed her deeply, she couldn’t find it in her to care.
~~~
On their one-year anniversary, Y/n woke up early.
She didn’t want to, but the moon was shining brightly through the bedroom window, and there was a gap in the curtains that let the light through. It was landing on the books that had been stacked up on the bedside table, titles just about visible and all of them ones that she had read before. The moonlight was also resting on Anthony’s face while he slept, and he looked like he had in the taxi on that night when they had first met, ethereal and effortlessly gorgeous (but not quite so tired and weighed down by responsibility), and she found herself falling in love with him all over again.
It was probably all forms of creepy to just lie and watch him breathe while she tried to go back to sleep, but there was something oddly soothing about it: the rise and fall of his chest and the peaceful expression on his face. It was rare she got to see him so relaxed, the only other times were when he had a day off and was sat in the library with a cup of tea, Y/n sat nearby, or when they had spent time exploring each others’ bodies, hands roaming over skin and through hair while they made love.
The paper ring that he had made her just over a year ago, not long before they started officially dating, was sat on the bedside table next to the stack of books. He’d made her new ones at random points throughout their time together, but the original one that he’d folded from that piece of paper in the Fittes public library had remained in pride of place in her jewellery dish in their now shared bedroom at 35 Portland Row.
Looking at it now she was absolutely certain that he was the one that she wanted, taking him in marriage with a paper ring, putting their pictures in frames to decorate their home, and he was the one she wanted in all of her daydreams.
Anthony Lockwood was her future, and her future was looking wonderfully bright.

Make it Up to You
Denki Kaminari x Reader
Kinktober Day 11!!
The last thing you expected to happen on your drive home was to have a body fall practically out of the sky onto the hood of your car. A scream ripped through your throat, and at the sound a head lifted, and even less expected, you were met with the shock of blond hair that signified it was in fact your boyfriend who fell from the sky. He jumped off as quickly as he fell, pulling your hood open and grabbing the battery. Before you could even move, he was off a thumbs up and a cheesy grin in your direction as he ran down the street. Trying to catch your breath, you stepped out of the car, taking in the damage.
There was a perfect Denki sized dent in the hood, something pouring out of the bottom of your car and onto the pavement. “Ma’am, are you alright?” A cop shouted, running towards you. You were worried about him for sure, ignoring the question as you watched the night sky light up from his attack, “Chargebolt’s quite a powerhouse huh?” He laughed, watching as the sky lit up again, “At least it wasn’t Red Riot, this car would be destroyed from that kids quirk.” He shook his head, looking awkward as he rubbed the back of his neck. The man was nearly old enough to be your grandpa. “Are you alright though, ma’am?”
“Fine.” You mumbled, shaking your head as you looked back at him. The sound of footsteps approaching caused you to look over, the hero returning with the villain slung over his shoulder, grinning as he approached.
“Trade?” He asked the officer, who nodded graciously, going to cuff the villain as Denki sent him down. “Hi, baby girl! Fancy meeting you here.” He cooed, coming up to you for a huge.
“My car…” You whispered sadly, stepping back, causing him to grimace.
“Does it make it better or worse if I say I landed on your car on purpose.” He said slowly, “I’m sorry!” He whined as your eyes flashed back to him. “The agency has been breathing down my neck about property damage and it was either yours or that one,” He gestured over his shoulder to the absolute shit box that was parked right beside where your car had skidded to a stop, his pace quickening as you felt your annoyance rising.
“Kami! My car!” You whined back, “You couldn’t have just landed on the sidewalk like a normal person.” You huffed at him, crossing your arms.
“It hurts my knees- I mean! I saw it was you and I wanted to see you, catch you before you got home!” He fumbled as your eyebrows narrowed, crossing your arms over your chest. “I’m sorry, I promise I’ll make it up to you!” he put his hands together in a prayer motion, bowing slightly to you with his eyes closed.
“You can start by calling me a tow truck.” You huffed back, sitting on the curb with a pout. “And you owe me a new battery.”
“Anything for you, baby girl.” He winked at you, causing you to roll your eyes, a small smile tugging on your lips as he pulled out his phone.
“Chargebolt, sir, I can take care of that.” A different cop had joined you, looking between you both, confused at your familiarity, “You should get back to work sir, we can handle this from here.”
“I got it!” He said back cheerily, “Or else I’m in the doghouse.” He added with a mock whisper, sounding overly terrified for good measure. He winked again at you as you laughed a bit, the other line finally picking up as he described the situation.
“Ma’am, I have some paperwork if you would like to fill out so the city can help pay for the repairs, I’m really sorry you got caught up in this tonight.” He continued, turning to you.
“Thanks, but Chargebolt has actually agreed to pay for all the damages and take me home tonight, so I am all good!” You said to him, causing Denki to blanch as he spoke. The cop nodded awkwardly before leaving the scene, Denki coming to join you on the curb.
“It should only be a few minutes.” he said with a yawn, pulling you into his side. You hummed in reply, resting your head on his shoulder and closing your eyes. You must have started to drift off, lulled by his warmth, jumping a bit as he shook you, yellow flashing lights filling your vision. He stood once making sure you weren’t going to slump to the ground, chatting with the tow truck driver as they loaded your poor car up, gone just as soon as they came. “Come on, baby girl.” he said lightly as he approached you, turning and gesturing for you to hop onto his back. You shook your head at him, a sleepy laugh falling from your lips as you hopped up, his strong grip on the back of your thighs as you curled into his neck.
“Are you mad at me?” He asked delicately, leaning down to grab your purse before beginning the short walk home.
“No.” You mumbled, placing a kiss on the side of his neck, “Not if you carry me wherever I need to go.”
“That can definitely be arranged.” He laughed back, patting your leg. You hugged him tighter as a reply. He soon reached your door, placing you back on the ground as he fished his keys out. As soon as you got inside, you were suddenly grabbed, shoved against the door with one hand cradling your head and the other tight on your waist. “I’m gonna make it up to you.” He declared, and soon his lips were on you, hot and heated as he pressed into you, causing a moan to slip from you.
He lifted you again after locking the door, carrying you into the bedroom, mouths locked the entire way before unceremoniously throwing you to the bed with a plop. He smirked down at you as you watched him, an all too familiar glint in his eyes. “Pay you back” often meant pinning you down onto the mattress until you screamed, stars in your eyes, and it seemed like tonight would be no different. He was a man on a mission.
Your heart began to thunder as he leaned down, hands sliding under your shirt before pulling it off, your bra soon following. His fingers ghosted over you, static electricity making you squirm below him. “Please.” You begged, already breathless despite the fact that he had barely touched you.
“Patience.” He chided, before pinching your nipple, a light shock flowing through you in a way that made you shudder below him. His languid pace continued, taking his time, and before long you were practically crying below him, begging for anything really. His hand drifted down, slowly coming to ease your pants off. He spread your legs, easing down between them, blowing lightly on you, causing your hands to fly down to his hair, pulling lightly on it, trying to lead him where you wanted, but he only chuckled lightly at you, rubbing his hands over your thighs. “Needy, baby girl?” He asked, earning a groan of frustration in reply. It felt like just one touch would send you hurtling over the edge.
He ran a single finger through your folds before finding your clit, circling it lightly, and you felt your body instantly sag, truly giving over to him. He laughed lightly again, sending a light bolt directly to your clit and with that single moment, your back was arching as you came around nothing, tears coming to your eyes as you climaxed.
“Kami, please!” You whined, hips bucking away or towards him, you weren’t really sure.
“Please what?” He smiled up at you, clearly loving this. “What do you want, hmm?” he was driving as he smiled up at you.
“Fuck me!” You cried. He shook his head at you, leaning down to place a single kiss to your clit.
“Not yet, I have to make it up to you first.” His grin was devilish as he met your eye, head finally, finally moving down.

Just Another Notch
Bucky Barnes x Plus!Reader Masterlist
Summary: If Bucky thinks his charms will work on you, then you’re gonna put up one hell of a fight to prove him wrong. PART 4/? Part 5
An: Hey all, sorry I haven’t updated this baby in months. Gonna try and work on it more from now on. Hopefully it’ll be finished before the end of the year 🤞💜
Word Count: 1,278 (not proofread)
You never found him. After trekking through a path of destruction you realized, you didn’t know where exactly Bruce lives; better yet anywhere besides the lab he considers home. Once large foot prints and fallen trees ceased, so did your trail. You haven’t yet trained on tracking, so someone on foot could allude you indefinitely.
When you made it back to the compound, Friday announced “Stark will see you in his office, Ms. Y/L/N.”. You hadn’t even walked in the door, and already Bruce’s mess was piling up on your lap. As if you had control over a gamma radiated mutant.
Tony had another thing coming If he thinks you’ll pay damages. Your salary consisted of room and board, and a part time paycheck that you sent home to help your parents. Solid wood floors weren’t in your budget.
When you make it to Tony’s office it looks crowded. You can see Natasha, Steve and Bucky all standing around his desk, arms crossed with annoyed looks on their faces. This isn’t good, and it’s all your fault, you should’ve swallowed it, never mentioned it to Bruce.
You knock on the glass door, catching the attention of the the most attractive people you’ve ever seen. Their harsh gaze made you wish your X gene was invisibility. “You wanted to see me, Stark?” You pipe up, hoping the faster you get this over with, the easier it will be. You brave your face to the room, not putting your head down in shame. You won’t let this destroy you, you won’t let bullying ruin the workplace confidence you’d grown.
Tony rolls his eyes, “You know why you’re here, don’t play coy kid.”. Without hesitation You immediately start defending yourself, “I want to be the first one to apologize for the gym floor. I cannot excuse Bruce’s actions, they were not justified in any manor. Destruction of property over measly feelings, if not already, should be a fireable offense. I however have done nothing wrong. I played a part in telling Bruce about the situation, but I never could have foresaw this outcome.” Your chest is heaving when you finish. You’ve kept a neutral look on your face the entire time, meanwhile Tony’s face morphed into confusion, suprise, confusion again and then agreeance.
“Wow, the things I miss not living here.” He laughs, like it was some kind of joke. “I have no clue what you’re talking about, but I’d love for you to tell me the full story later.” You straighten your shoulders, what had you just done? Not only did you snitch on Bruce and yourself, but your pathetic plea was witnessed by three devils. Why are you here then?
You hadn’t done anything else wrong, you haven’t even been on a mission in forever. “Oh, my apologies then, I don’t know why I’m here.” You admit. Now you were unbearably nervous, you didn’t know what to expect. Tony opened a tab on his touch pad inlaid desk, pulling up the picture of an obviously foreign man. His menacing scowl only meant one thing, Hydra.
“Bruno Müller, age 37, served as a hitman for Hydra, much like yours truly.” He waves over to Bucky, giving him stank face. You nod your head, trying to take mental notes. “He was seen last night, on a yacht off the Florida Keys. Intel is saying, he’s hosting a party this weekend, and I want you to be in attendance.” Your head is spinning, you struggle to find the right words.
“What- I mean why me? You have many more capable agents at your disposal.” You’ve lost that workplace professionalism in place of confidence. You know you shouldn’t speak to your boss this way, but who does he think you are, Captain America?
“I would agree to disagree on that. Do not sell yourself short, your capabilities are more than qualified for this mission. But the truth is, no one knows you. You’re faceless.” You try to not let his last words hurt, but you suppose he’s right. It would be a simple plan, get in and get out, right? “What am I doing?” You ask, trying to fit the other three people into the plan somehow. “I need you to first, immerse yourself into this party, let everyone know you’re there. Talk with the women, flirt with the men, drink but don’t get drunk. If someone on this boat has a suspicion of you, it will take a minute for renforcements to arrive. Meaning, fighting off 30+ angry Hydra all by yourself.” He was blatant.
Your anxiety was starting to pick up. You’re not sure you can do it. The two super soldiers behind you instantly notice the shift in your mood. They see the hair on the back of your neck stand, and they can smell the sheen of sweat covering your body. Steve genuinely feels pity for you.
Tony continues, “Infiltrate his office, access his computer and download all of his files onto this bad boy right here.” He pulls a bracelet out of thin air. He gently unclasps it, revealing a usb drive hidden inside. “The second you plug it in, a virus will download onto his computer, corrupting the files, for any further use, and it will immediately download them, bypassing any need for passwords.”
Once he finished you had nothing to say. Well, you had plenty to say, but you couldn’t be sure that you wouldn’t embarrass yourself further. “So, why are they here?” You finally ask, daring to make eye contact with Steve. His eyes weren’t as harsh as you expected.
“Every secret agent needs an intel team, and a guy in their ear, these two are your intel team, and Barnes is your new conscious.” Great. Now instead of playing along with him, you’re forced to be in their presence. You let the heroes behind you groan in place. They must’ve already debriefed, they had no witty remarks or protests.
“When do I leave?” You ask, just wanting to get out of the room at this point. You need to let yourself process everything, before you overload and overstimulate. “Tonight.” You give him a curt nod and leave before your team could ask you any questions. There would be plenty of time for that on the flight there.
Your brain is racing. Maybe it’s the combination of everything happening so far today and it’s only 9am. Or it’s the straps on the sports bra absolutely obliterating your shoulders. You’re pacing down to the simulation room, the only place you can go to escape.
You’re manically talking to yourself when you swing the door open. “How the actual fuck does he expect me to do this alone?” You ask no one. Seeing the empty desk chair Bruce left in its exact spot was enough to send you crumbling to your feet. Pressing your back against the door, squeezing your knees as close to your chest as possible. Bruce isn’t even here to console you because you fucked that up too. You bang the back of your head on the door, “What the fuck is wrong with me?”.
You doubt you’d see Bruce before you left, which meant you wouldn’t see him till you returned, which is never promised, better yet scheduled. You needed answers, why did be react like that? Wrapping your head around it was impossible, unbeknownst to you, Bruce sat pressed against his front door, his head in his hands, wondering why he can’t control his anger. Wondering if he’d scared you away forever, you’d never seen him as hulk before, just Bruce. He knew you liked just Bruce, but now there’s no telling.

Aaaand we're back! I really like this one :)
Yellow
Prompt: survive
"Place your bets," the foreman said as he painted my armor yellow. I was given a large projectile weapon, as was the other SecUnit, who was currently being painted blue. Humans gathered around the foreman, betting credits or meal packets. (I never understood the human need to gamble, but I particularly never understood why they would bet meal packets. Credits were one thing, but humans needed food to survive. But hey, I was just going to do the shooting, not the eating.)
I'd won the previous two fights, so the odds were better on me. It wasn't because I was better at fighting than the other SecUnits. It was mostly because I could ignore my governor module when it said stupid things like saving ammo or not damaging company property. I had to be careful to not act too independent, but a little ability to actually defend myself for once (SecUnit fights are usually just shooting at each other until one of us is disabled) came in handy.
The foreman finished painting me. I stepped forward into the arena cleared out for us. It was a tunnel used for transport, but the humans had moved all the shuttles out of the way. On one side was a short barricade in front of a sheer drop. Great.
The other SecUnit stepped forward, as did I. We separated and walked to opposite sides of the arena as the humans cheered.
"Hey Yellow!" a particularly loud human yelled. "You'd better lose, I bet three meal packets on Blue!"
I rolled my eyes behind my opaqued helmet. It wasn't my problem if the human starved.
(Well, it would be if he became too weak to work and I was ordered to force him to work anyway, but that was a future problem.) (The current problem was the SecUnit in front of me.)
"And...go!" the foreman yelled. I jumped to the side and rolled as the other SecUnit fired at me. I managed to fire a few shots, aiming for its knee joint. If we were lucky I could just disable it and hopefully that would satisfy my audience.
The other SecUnit wasn't so scrupulous.
It fired directly at my head. (Rude.) I managed to dodge and ran across the arena, firing again and again, trying to avoid the sheer drop behind me. The SecUnit fired back and hit me in the knee. I fell, leaking fluid and blood, and the crowd cheered.
"Finish it!" the same human yelled. The SecUnit fired at me, but I rolled out of the way, my knee joint clicking loudly. The SecUnit ran forward, but I turned down my pain sensors and swiveled, blasting at the SecUnit as it darted behind me.
Unfortunately, behind me was the sheer drop. I shot it in the chest and it broke the barricade.
I had a few seconds before it fell. If I ran at top speed, I could catch it. And if I hadn't had a crowd of humans behind me, cheering and hooting and booing, I might have. But a governed SecUnit doesn't go out of its way to save another SecUnit.
I could have saved it.
I didn't.
It fell and a few pregnant seconds went by before we heard the crash. The crowd screamed in glee and despair. The foreman ran up and looked over the barrier.
"Yellow wins," he said "Someone get down there and collect the pieces. I think there's enough to throw back in a cubicle."
He looked at me. I stood still and leaked.
"Get this one to a cubicle too," he said. "We'll get it ready for tomorrow."
I limped away, my knee joint clicking, and played episode 206 of Sanctuary Moon.
