The best payoff about being autistic and having an f/o is that at a certain point you’ve got the characterization down after ages of studying your character under a microscope. Headcanons, Canons, Speaking, Humor, etc, all that came from months or years of constant love and fixation. And then you can imagine having conversations about ANYTHING with them. when the two decide to join themselves and their families in union, their children are absolutely horrified. Add to that the fact that both parents have quite the opposed extended families, and you have yourself a wedding that even Chief Justice Neuvillette isn't gonna want to miss out on.

Imagine that fictional stories exist out there as parallel universes. Maybe information tends to leak through from one universe to another, so a real story in one universe could find its way into writers’ heads in another universe and get told as fiction.

Then, a connection opens between your universe and the one your f/o is from, and you get thrown into their world. Confused and more than a little alarmed, you try to explain to them that they’re just a fictional story, that you’re not even sure how you got there. (Bonus points for added tension if your f/o is in some sort of military or secret group and it looks like you’ve broken in).

Then they cut in with “— what? No, aren’t you the fictional one?”

See, in this universe, your story made it through into a writer’s head. They read it, or watched it, and it became one of their favorite stories, coming back to it — to you — every time they needed a bit of comfort or cheering up.
