"Ranboo."

Red and green eyes jumped to his face momentarily. Mismatched pools of molten lava, seeming to shifted and melt like they were about to spill over.

"Let me help you." Philza spoke firm and clear, but not demanding. This was, ultimately, no more than an offer.

Well. It was perhaps more of a plea, if he were being honest with himself. Ranboo knew that too.

"... Please?"

Ranboo looked away, head jerking to the side and shoulders hiked up. He was all wound about himself, arms folded in an almost-hug, gripping themself like they were afraid they would disappear.

Their eyes — glowing faintly in the dark — darted from side to side as gears turned in Ranboo's head. Still, that unnerving sense that they would break and starring pouring down his cheeks at a moments notice hovered over them both like a guillotine (... or an anvil. Ranboo was so afraid to hurt them again.)

"I-I..." Ranboo vocalized more than spoke, "Phil, you- you know-"

His words cracked, and Philza felt dread pooling in his stomach, tugging down from his naval like the drop in an elevator.

"Phil you know- You know I can't do that."

"Yeah. I do."

"I'm sorry."

"... It's okay, mate."

c!Ranboo has chronic pain headcanon

c!Phil also has like phantom pain in his injured wing and stuff like that so he has some experience with chronic pain type stuff, but unlike c!Ranboo he actually knows that isn't just the normal for everyone

(and just because: hello I do not have chronic pain and I can confirm that the normal amount of pain is like zero!)

Okay so ik there's Questions you have about the bracket and BASICALLY I couldn't think of any dynamics and wanted lesser known ones to have a chance. So I did a survey, got dynamics and put in the top 24 and bottom 24. They're 24 brackets, so there's 16 duos that are gonna be ADDED the next round to go against the first round winners.

Also I just did a numbered list of them and used a random seed that's why some are just. there. allium vs firefly was by pure fucking luck.

ok so like, ranboo and phil have a small growing pile of duo names but none of them are particularly widely used, despite them interacting a TON both ic and ooc, so im here to explain why i dont love the existing ones and propose one i do rlly like endduo- this one's alright but not super striking, we don't actually know if dsmp phil has any knowledge of or connection to the end, and the end isnt something the two characters connect over even if it is a trait they share takeout duo- on principle i dont like duo names exclusively based on cc interactions and that was ONE stream, ONE time. i refuse to use this one cursedduo- i actually do really like this one esp after recent lore but i cant see it ever getting wide use bc it very much originated as an inside joke/bit/reference before it gained the relevance it has to canon today. so like. what do i propose we call them?

its a reference to this clip specifically but i think it highlights like. all the important themes in their relationship. their mutual respect for each other, their care for each other, their ability to be there for each other.. and yet its tinged with doubt. it encompasses ranboo's caginess, how he was the most open with Phil of anyone, and he still hid the truth of the experiments from him. and it's the trust phil has for ranboo, the respect for his boundaries even when things are a little bit off, but his willingness to step in if he sees it going too far. he respects ranboo telling him he just sleepwalks sometimes, even if he has seen a little different, because ranboo doesnt want him to pry. he respects ranboos wish to hide michael from techno, even after his death. its every way they care about each other, the ways they show their care, and besides. why would he break a promise?
