Bride of Shadows IF - Weekly Progress Report

Compared to weeks where I'm belting out 20,000+ words this one may seem underwhelming on the surface. However, this is totally in-line with my process.

The IF itself exists as a 50,000ish word outline of all the major plot points and potential plot points. Each time I start a new night, I take the outline for that night, usually just a handful of paragraphs, and expand it into a several thousand word bullet pointed first draft. From there, I have a good skeleton to work with, which allows me to regularly write 2,000-4,000 words per day, as I'm not having to pause to scratch my head and wonder what to write next. It's not a foolproof method. Sometimes the characters will still surprise me or refuse to cooperate. Annoying as that can be, it almost always improves the story.

Now that the bones are in place, I'm set for a busy week of writing. I already have the first quarter of each act complete. My goal is to have the Heretic route finished and the Zealot route 1/2 finished by the end of the week.

This will be the longest night yet. You'll have four very different episode routes depending on your bonds and tendencies, as well as a nail-biter of an ending.

Progress Update July 2024

Hey everyone!

Time to give you all an update about what I've been up to this month!

For BtM, we have officially started the tour of the city—it has three levels, and we're doing one level per day—and the MC is finally getting to see what all the fuss is about!

From the unfamiliar architecture to the uncanny feeling that they've been here before, seen this place through different eyes, there is much going on that the MC can't explain.

And they're not alone! Zach is experiencing some these things right along with them, and that helps the MC feel less unhinged. Plus…they're starting to see and hear and sense Cy everywhere….

So that's gonna get good real fast LMAO!

As for TSSW, I am still doing a lot of reordering and adding new stuff. Rai is getting another scene, Manerkol got more screen time and the Stone does too! Also, a certain creepy fountain is getting even creepier...

​The thing I'm looking forward to the most is Manerkol's last scene for the game. You don't get any interaction with him until the very end of the book thanks to the lovely wards the Resistance has set up, but once you do….

OH BOI! That scene is going to be HUGE! Like, it has three different phases! It must be the single longest romantic sequence I've written for any of the ROs so far, but I guess the dread king deserves it XD

There is also SO MUCH plot progress, and the pieces are finally coming together. Maybe Manerkol is not the final boss, after all???

So yeah! These are all the goodies I've been up to this July! I'm really feeling pumped, and I've gotten so much done already! I'm gonna ride this wave right until the end!

played some ATLYSS, the game where everyone is a stacked furry

it reminds me in the most wonderful way of old mmos like Dream of Mirror Online and FLYFF, but also of Mario 64 and PSO and Smash in terms of controls

what I really love is the repeatable quests and the grinding- there's a day/night cycle and everything respawns reliably, and since the lower level quests are between you and the main quest, you can just bonk everything between you and your goal on the way there and back

it means you're pretty much always playing and always progressing in some small way

im tempted when i get paid to snag the patreon version with multiplayer enabled because i love the idea of mmo gameplay but only with a lobby of people you already like lol

i played as Thick Hellboy, an Imp that I set up for melee combat, and had a blast exploring the first several subzones- and the first boss, who is resummonable for rematches and a second chance at her drops!

i had a spherical block on right click with a stamina wheel, very similar to smash bros, and using it strategically while watching enemy animations made combat feel really engaging- there are some early boars with a charge attack that really train your block timing!

the customization has a lot of sliders and some pretty remarkable ones at that- it's my first time seeing a functional snoot slider, changing your character's face to be more or less furry-proportioned. incredible stuff.

anyway, it cost me 0.00 to try it via itch and i played for like 4 hours straight and had a blast the whole time, gonna play more today after work too

would recommend as someone who went in blind, lured by the siren song of big ol tiddies

those are there too- my god are they ever

but I'm staying for the rest of the game, which is just fantastic. A+, would recommend, esp if you already enjoy the old mmo gameplay loop!

No story behind the name. I just made a new tumblr because I forgot my login for the other one and I think this was just a random name it gave me but I liked it so I kept it.

As for favourite fics, yes, yes. So for I want people to be able to access fics I mention reasons, I'm not gonna mention focs that are currently on Patreon or deleted fics. Some of these I have discussed before but others are probably gonna be ones I've never discussed.

Warning: Probably spoilers for some, if not all, fics mentioned.

Feral | Tenya Iida by strawhat_pirate on Wattpad

Not a surprise, I don't think. I've spoken about strawhat_pirate and their fics before. Theirs is the only Patreon I've ever subscribed to. They have quite a few OC x BNHA, with both male and female OCs, that I really like. But this was the first fic of theirs I read and my favourite. I've reread what exists of this fic many times. It isn't completed but that's fine. So this is a Tenya Iida x Male OC. The male OC is called Kittrick Suzuko, and he is the quirkless cousin of Bakugou. They meet when Tenya is getting bullied in middle school and Kit stands up for him against two guys who have quirks. He nearly breaks one of the bullies' arm and sets a desk on fire. He's very chaotic and gets into fights a lot, but he adores Tenya and they have a cute friends to lovers progression. They do start dating relatively quickly, but that's really just the start of the story. They are basically opposites attract and just love and adore each other. Kit is a badass, despite, or because of his quirklessness. There's some angst, but considering this is a strawhat_pirate fic, there's not much angst yet, though there are elemants of bullying, abuse, some mentions of suicidal ideation. These are all fairly brief and more focussed on the aftermath but they are there. As I said, Kit is Bakugou's cousin and it's kind of implied Bakugou's bullying of Deku is coming from a fear of quirkless people in general, because of Kit. Also, Kit and Midoriya become friends and Midoriya transfers to Kit and Tenya's middle school and starts training for UA earlier, with Kit and Tenya's help, so is more confident when entering UA. Other than that there's Todoroki family stuff, them working on a newspaper that gets famous, a Nomu they call Denise, them learning information they are not supposed to know and just not mentioning it. Honestly, a great fic, with a very entertaining OC, a cute relationship and a chaotic storyline. Love this one

2. No Heteros Allowed by DeceivingTerror, EnceladusLife on AO3

Another fic I've mentioned before and a BNHA fic. No OC. This is just a chaotic crack chatfic. There are ships but honestly they're overshadowed by all the chaotic stuff that happens. Aizawa seriously needs a raise for this one. So Mineta gets expelled and Shinsou joins their class in his place. There are multiple parties in which they get drunk. A sex shop and a clothes shop that share a name, there might actually be another shop with the same name, selling something completely different. There are shops like Target and Toys'r'us that just seem to randomly pop up. I'm pretty sure the Toys'r'us is actually some sort of liminal space, backrooms type thing. Mothman and other Cryptids exist and Mothman dates Mina. Teletubbies are a real species and one invades UA and takes Todoroki. There's a room inspection chapter where they're all keeping forbidden food makers of various kinds that aren't allowed in the dorms, especially the bedrooms. There are various ghosts and demons. They're extra chaotic in this one. Occassional fourth wall breaks in the form of 'why are we texting when we're all in the same room?' What's the name of the drink mascot who bursts through walls? He's a villain in this one but I forgot his name. Just, in terms of pure chaos and crack, just easy reading, this is one of the better ones

3. Interperspective by SnufflesThePig on AO3

A Merlin fic, specifically a Merlin reaction fic. Merlin, Hunith, Gaius, Arthur, the knights, Morgana and Gwen are sent to watch Merlin's adventures in Camelot. We also get some original scenes of Merlin's past or just things he was doing between saving Camelot form the evil of the week. Merlin/Arthur and Gwen/Morgana. Everyone learns about magic. We see Merlin just having fun with magic and using it on his own, no one around and it's cool. The thing I really like about this one is the descriptions. It's just written in a beautiful way, lots of imagery using shadow and light, lots of descriptions, slight rewrites to canon, nothing super major so far. Just, it's so well written, a rare Merlin reaction fic. There is angst, please do read the tags. Also I like the comments on this one as well. Just... There's not much I can say because talking about it doesn't do it justice, just, great fic. Love this one.

4. The entire Sunflower series by Aralana675, but especially To Build a Mechanic and To Build a Programmer - all on AO3.

Mentioned these during my post about favourite characters and ships but I'll talk about them here as well. A series of Sk8 the Infinity fics. Most are centred around Reki and his relationships with the others, with a particular focus on his relationship with Joe and Cherry, though there is still plenty of him and Langa and him and Miya.

The first fic, To Build a Mechanic, focuses on him and Joe. Joe finds out about Reki's skateboard designs and challenges him to a race at S and gets Reki to make him a skateboard and show him it at S, which leads to him becoming S's mechanic, making and probably fixing skateboards for the people there. The second fic, To Build a Programmer is longer and focuses more on his relationship with Cherry, something I don't see as often, honestly. Cherry teaches him programming in hopes of building up to Reki building his own version of Karla basically. We get some elements of punk Reki, as Cherry mentors him. There's even a chapter where Cherry pierces his lip. Cherry and Joe are together. There are conversations about events in the anime. Cherry finds out Reki never went to the hospital after getting jumped and ran over and immediately takes him to the get checked. They play video games together. Reki becomes Cherry's apprentice. These are Smart Reki fics which I love. But this is the one where we get quite a bit of the group all hanging out together. They celebrate their birthdays at Joe's restaurant. Reki makes Miya a video game for his birthday. Reki and Langa aren't together but are in love. There are other fics in this series but these two are my favourite so they can go here together.

5. Channel JACKAL by Aka_aKa_akA

A Haikyuu social media fic focussing on SakuAtsu and the MSBY Black Jackals. It is a series, the other fics are oneshots of smut that accompany certain chapters. The MSBY Black Jackals start a YouTube channel so their fans can get to know them better. Each chapter, there will be a YouTube video written as a transcript and then fans and other Haikyuu characters respond on social media. Shipping comes into it, especially with Sakusa and Atsumu, and the videos show the process of them getting together. There's some other ships, but this is mostly just a fluffy fic. There's not really angst so much as obliviousness. I like a social media fic or a chatfic and this is one of the better ones I've seen, especially since they do use YouTube so can progress the story and the relationship that way. Also, Atsumu is loved in this fic, like, everyone wants him. We love to see it. Also protective Osamu. They compete over who gets the most service aces. It's just great. Especially how accommodating they are about Kiyoomi's germaphobia. Like, they're always finding ways to let him participate in the games and activities. It's just a nice, cute, fun fic.

6. The Magic Of Friendship by BabyStepsAreStillSteps

Another Merlin fanfic, this time focusing on a friendship between Mordred and Merlin. Good Mordred. Mordred mad a magic vow not to kill Arthur so Merlin lets himself be friends with Mordred, and hijinks ensue. Lots of mind speak. They pull pranks. Lot of badass Merlin and badass Mordred, Merlin appreciation and the others learning just how capable Merlin is, even without him using magic. There's a magic reveal (Merlin and Mordred) in the last chapter. bits of angst. This is the second part of a series but I prefer this part, it's more fun. Also there's a chapter where there's an imposter Mordred and Merlin is the one to figure it out, within minutes of being back in Camelot but no one believes him. I love this. Their friendship is great. I always love Merlin appreciation, especially when it's not just his magic. Also Mordred becomes Merlin's apprentice and tells Arthur and the knights off when they need it. Arthur doesn't mean to, like it's not malicious but he keeps neglecting or not noticing things about Merlin, and Merlin doesn't tell him because he assumes Arthur is aware so it sometimes takes Mordred to knock some sense into him. It's just a cute fic, very good Mordred and Merlin friendship, no romantic ships other than Arthur/Gwen and even that's in the background as it's more focused on Merlin's friendships. Both parts of the series are about his friendships with the knights, Arthur and Mordred. The first part is more obviously angsty but there are still elements of angst here.

7. Truth Shall Set You Free by JaydeRayne

A TCF/LCF reaction fic. (As always you can pry the name TCF from my cold dead hands). So there's quite a few reaction fics for TCF, and I'm sure they're great but this one is my favourite. Everyone is in this one, every named character and some unnamed, two Earths, about 3 groups for TCF/TBOAH world. Starts from the beginning of the story. This fic is largely them pointing out Cale's contradictions and trying to get him to stop thinking badly about himself, to limited results so far but there is some small progress. Different versions of the same characters interacting. Lots of teasing Cale and other characters for the things they did. All the secrets, misunderstandings and contradictions being revealed. It's just got a very loving energy and it's one of my comfort fics. It's not complete but it is still updating and it's just cute. Also there's about 10 prologue parts before the reaction starts and then it starts with TCF's prologue which is really just the icing on the cake. Also I really like this fic's interpretation of Violan and Deruth. They know they didn't do as well as they could've and vow to change and be better parents. They're not shown as these parents who always tried their parents and never made mistakes but they're not treated like irredeemable villains either. Deruth, in particular, is portrayed as someone who made mistakes early on and didn't know how to fix them, so didn't really fix them at all, but realises his approach was wrong. And, since the TBOAH world was brought here, they get another chance to improve things with their Cale, fix their mistakes, make it better, and clear up misunderstandings. It's not treated like they didn't love Cale as much but acknowledges that things did change because of Kim Rok Soo Cale, and accept all Cales and Kim Rok Soos as their sons, and the same for Basen and Lily accepting them as their brothers. They all genuinely try to get along in this world, which is nice to see. As I said, there are other reaction fics, even other reaction fics I like, for TCF but this one is my favourite.

8. What A Soul Can Accomplish by contumaciousarcadia

A Hazbin Hotel fanfiction, not complete but, my God, it's great. Lucifer/Alastor but it's kind of a slowburn. Like, I'm at chapter 65 and they're not together yet but they are in this place somewhere between friendship and romance. But more than that, the plot. The angels have it out for Alastor for some reason. They're trying so hard to kill him. Alastor is somehow surviving. The Hotel gang are trying to figure it out. Like, it starts with Lucifer being suspicious of Alastor and thinking he's plotting something but quickly becomes so much more than that. Also Powerful Alastor. Alastor actually cares about people in this one, especially Charlie and Lucifer, and they care about him. A lot of development of heaven, hell, angels, Lucifer, life before those were things. Kinda biblically accurate angels. Alastor is an empath, like that's a huge part of why he doesn't like physical touch. He's an empath in Hell. The angels threaten Alastor's mom, the hotel, Angel. Jealous and possessive Alastor and Lucifer (not overly so but there are elements of it). They actually work really well together in this fic though. Honestly, recommend for the plot alone, even outside of Radioapple, but Radioapple is the ship. Also make sure to read tags, there are some pretty dark things in this, since it is Hazbin Hotel after all, including references to sexual assault, it's not shown, like there's no explicit sexual assault scene but it is discussed and referred to, and there is a scene where they kind of describe (not in detail) attempted sexual assault of Alastor by Vox. It doesn't happen but, again, it's discussed. Also Alastor is still Asexual in this fic and we kinda get some insight into Lucifer and Lillith's relationship. As I said, check tags before reading, it's not dead dove but it is angsty and there probably are potential triggers.

9. Leafing Through The Pages, I Found You by YunaYamiMouto

A Bungou Stray Dogs fic focusing on Dazai. It's kind of a reaction fic, like they do see and react to things that happen in the show, but they're really just reacting to Dazai's life up to this point (Just after season 3, I think), including his childhood. It is Soukouku but also it's focused on all of Dazai's relationships. It's because of an ability that they see all this. Not really a spoiler because it's like the first thing they see, but basically, Sensei kind of wroote him into existences. He was friends with Dazai's dad and used the book to allow him and his wife (the daughter of the former Mafia leader) to get pregnant and have a child. That child was Dazai, and it just kinda goes from there. Dazai doesn't really get many breaks, anytime his life seems to be improving, something traumatic happens. Also, they find out what happened to Oda. They react to Light novels too, I think they even mention Beast. Go read this, and then go read the other Bungou Stray Dogs fics by YunaYamiMouto because they're all really good. I love how they portray Dazai and, honestly, all the characters. Oh, read the one where the Armed Detective Agency and the Port Mafia swap Dazai and Chuuya, so the ADA gets Chuuya and the PM gets Dazai, then the one where Dazai becomes the mafia boss, then the one where the mafia fangirls (fanboys? The gender neutral equivalent? you know what i mean) over Dazai's skills with a gun, or the My Hero Academia crossover where the hero society just isn't ready for Yokohama. Just, please, read their Bungou Stray Dogs fics. They're just really good. This section is secretly just YunaYamiMouto's Bungou Stray Dogs fics.

10. if only someone would hold me, i could be saved / a todobowl series by A_I_Neptune

A series of My Hero Academia fics featuring Todobowl. Todoroki is very soft in this one. He's dating Midoriya but keeps accidentally making their other classmates lose their minds. Midoriya doesn't seem to mind, he just seems happy to see Todoroki being loved. It all starts when Todoroki realises he really likes Midoriya's soft sweaters and starts wearin them around the dorms. He's just being soft and making his classmates, including Shinsou who is in class 1-A in this fic, adore him. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) for class 1-A, Shinsou is a little shit, so when Todoroki goes to visit his family, class 1-A goes to buy him gifts because they miss him, and Shinsou, with Midoriya's reluctant permission, gets him a catboy ensemble. The second part then deals with the results of this, Todoroki wearing the ensemble and unknowingly making his classmates fall in love with him. They all kinda expect Midoriya to be kinda mad, especially the ones like Sero, who end up in compromising positions with him, but Midoriya just kinda laughs at them. Todoroki remains oblivious and somewhat insecure. The first part is more Todoroki's POV i'd say, while part 2 is kinda everyone else's POV. There are two other parts, but the first two parts are my personal favourites. In the third part they watch Howl's Moving Castle. Todoroki's first movie night (at least without Midoriya). The last part, i don't know if I ever read but it looks like Bakugou will be teaching Todoroki to cook, so there's that.

I must say Im making slow progress, I was able to work on some art stuff, I cleaned my flat a bit, I guess lately I have more positive thoughts and more hope and motivation :> so I guess there are chances it wont be that bad~

Im in quite a lot of pain and exhausted but its not that bad it would stop me from doing anything ;p when Im able to get up from bed and do at least small tasks - I gonna do it ^^ Im a bit upset cause I have almost all clips I need for new video for YT but beside this I did nothing for it ^^; would be cool to actually post stuff ;p anyway, I will try do some things today and hopefully I will finish something >.>

Progress for April ✨

I sent a game version to the beta team this month! 🥳

... Tho, I think it's gonna be a little while still until yall see it. This part of the year is usually a lot of school stuff, which stays hectic until the very start of June. And I still have things to add/fix for chapter 4—quite a lot—and some changes that need to be made. (I'm trying to find a better balance with this chapter being partly slice of life-y and introducing two new characters without being much too slow in pace. Feel a little stumped, but I'm gonna talk it through with my alpha reader, who's the best, and we'll figure something out ☺️).

But anyway, we're moving forward! ❤️

HELLOO i really love your art, it's so good and thought-provoking. very kind on the eyes. i was wondering if you had any thoughts / meaning in mind when u painted 3,090 Degrees Fahrenheit. why 3090 specifically? was it supposed to represent anything? :3 id also love to hear thought process / ideas behind any other pieces too!

hope this isn't a bother or a weird ask, i love overanalyzing art pieces and hearing what artists were thinking when they made their pieces compared to how we interpret them. it's super fun!!

not a bother or a weird ask at all! ive talked some about the meaning behind the work here so ill talk a bit more about my process this time around.

so the room in the photo is in fact my bedroom. in order to get a reference for the lighting i used a big salt lamp and some small battery powered string lights, took two picture where one had the lights on my bed, the other had them on the floor, then stitched the photos together. a bit tedious but definitely gave me some cool lighting!

ok im gonna include some progress photos but be warned they have absolutely awful glare on them. the tragedies of an oil painter

the first step to this was technically to paint the entire 30"x48" canvas black but thats boring so heres the sketch in white charcoal. for paintings, i typically do my "sketch" with paints; i add a color ground with a lot of solvent (especially gamsol) then add in some basic values. heres an example from my thesis!

after that is painting the darkest values. painting dark to light in oils is best practice, helps prevent the colors from getting muddy. also! mix your blacks! gives em more variety and depth. its also much easier to control the color temperature that way. i know that there are a couple combos that work but burnt umber and ultramarine is my favorite. occasionally i add a smidge of black paint of out the tube if i need it a bit darker but frankly i dont do that as much anymore

painting all the little stuff on my walls was a lot of fun, made the space feel more realistic

the last thing that i did on the first day was to add a thin layer of colors where the flames would be, so i wasnt painting up from Just Black. the rest of the painting could stand that because 1. everything besides the flames are comparatively much darker 2. the flames have more impasto than the rest of the image and i didnt want to use Even More Paint, i used quite a bit of red, orange, and yellow as it was lol

aside from painting the flames, i also added some (light) detailing to the rug, fixed up the nightstand because it was a touch wonky, and pushed a couple shadows and highlights a bit further.

frankly this was a pretty standard process for me. less paint texture and variety than i typically like to have, but i wanted the texture of the flames to sit further forward in the image plane so i left the rest comparatively smoother :] i like sharing my process and ive been considering posting more process stuff on my portfolio blog. i have also 👀 been floating around the idea of a patreon.........

World/Lore Building - Redoing the Rings of Hell [Pt 2.1- The Pride Ring]

Already mentioned that the reimagined Rings of Hell series is gonna be in eight parts, the first part can be found and read here which talks about the basics like color change, thoughts on the rings themselves, briefly talking about what I'd change (if none at all) or add on to of general feel and aesthetic, and with travel between rings. In this part, we're gonna talk about The Pride Ring.

This post will be touching on...a lot. So much that I'm dividing Pride into two parts. The first part being about the Ring and places within it, while the second part will talk about citizens and culture.

So, obviously, this will be under read more and likely to be looooong af so...

Part One: The Pride Ring in Canon

I already said in my last post that I don't mind the city hellscape Pride is going for. Is it the most creative? Not really, but I don't mind it. What I do mind however is all THE GOD DAMN RED! This is a problem with Hellaverse in general (more so Hazbin than Helluva tho) but it's a bit of an eye sore. Everything around it just all blends together. Lets add all kinds of color. In fact let's make the sky less red with more blue, purple and and gray hues the higher the sky goes with the red being more from the lights and pollution of the city below.

But let's put aside the aesthetic for a second and talk about the worldbuilding around it. Like all of Hellaverse, it leaves me with more questions than answers.

Why are Sinners stuck and only in Pride? Is there a reason for this? Why bother having other rings then if sinners of those sins aren't going to be sent to those rings? Why are Hellborn exempt from the Extermination? Wouldn't Heaven be more worried about Hellborn rising up than Sinners considering that Sinners are sent down, or at least suppose to, there to be damned for all eternality while Hellborn are born there and possibility created by the Sins themselves? Wouldn't they fear what Lucifer and the Sins/other powerful demons wanting to start a war being...well they hold the power in Hell and have legions and things? Why are Overlords as powerful as they are? What even are they? How do some of them even have powers to begin with? How did they gain those powers? Am I overthinking all of this? Am I out of touch? Am I out of time? *starts singing* Am I out of my head when you're not around?

...yeah I think I may just be loosing it at this point...

UPDATE: So as I'm writing this, some stuff from Hazbin Hotel's production leaked and we now have a map with the names of those sections:

While this doesn't change too much it has helped me a bit in writing progress.

Part Two: Redoing Pride (Aesthesis and structure)

Found this little tidbit online somewhere (I'd rant about why all this lore shit is behind a patreon paywall suppose to being in the show itself but we're getting a head of ourselves):

Okay I'm kind of curious about these 'nine circles' things and how they're different from the rings. It makes sense for Pride to be the largest and most diverse being not only do you have Hellborn that likely moved from different rings sharing their culture but you also got sinners and their different customs, religions and walks of life. It'd be really interesting to see those sent to Hell regardless if they deserve to be down there or not sharing parts of their past life with hellborn and vice versa but I'll discuss this a little later.

I decided not to incorporate the nine circles thing into my AU because it asks more questions for me than answers but will have nine main areas in my version of Pride. (I guess that is incorporating it but blah!!)

In the center we have Pentagram City, or as I'm gonna rename it The Pentagram, the hub and heart of Pride and likely where you'll land in Hell if your 'crimes' in life were related to the sin of Pride to be processed and start of your new afterlife. I'm getting rid of any other cities in the ring. IMP's office is in one of the neighborhoods in Pentagram while the Happy Hotel is right at the outer edge of it.

Then we have the surrounding areas around Pentagram: The Morningstar Grounds (Lucifer's castle and estate), The Royal Estates (rich and royal demon suburb), various other suburbs made up of Hellborn and other Fallen Angels, and The Bad Lands (basically a Mad Max like wasteland where a lot of biker/punk like gangs make their home.

The Pentagram

Basically it's close to the same idea as it is in the show except I plan to have each section of it having some sort of theme related to sin or/and cultures ruled by different overlords/gang leaders. I talked about Overlords here.

There are eleven major districts:

Red Light/Entertainment District:

Basically a mini Lust Ring but there's a bit of Gluttony in the mix too. Ya know: nightlife, drugs, sex. Basically a hedonist's wetdream. There is various other entertainment options such as bars and shops, but sex and drugs is what sells here! This is also where Voxtec's HQ is. Voxtec owns most, if not ALL of the businesses in the area and is the biggest media conglomerate in Pride (though Vox does want to expand into other rings if he can). Valentino works the sexual industry aspects of it, Vox controlling the mass media of it while Velvet works the social influencer angle while also low key playing PR because as the wise words once spoken by Cassandra Nova from the box office smash movie Deadpool and Wolverine said: Boys are so silly.

(aka Vox and Val can be pretty unhinged at times yet somehow Velvet who died in the late 2010's at the ripe age of 19-20 is more mentally stable, or at the very least no where as unhinged, than the guys that died in the 60's and 70's respectfully).

Look I think I'm funny...

Though there are businesses that have individual owners with no connections to the Vee's, don't expect those to remain independent for long. XDD

As aesthetic go: I wanted to go with the red light district vibe that I hinted at and the first thing that came to mind was Kabukichō in Shinjuku, a part of Tokyo in Japan. The lights, the sneezy bars (not all are in kabumicho obviously but the area is infamous for taking advantage of tourist and ripping them off/drugging them and stealing their money if you're not careful on where you go) plus the love hotels and host clubs.

Cannibal Town:

Basically what it says on the tin. It's basically the same as it is in the show expect it's a mixture of Sinners and Hellborn cannibals. The feel is the same as in the show but the citizens that live there aren't all stuck in the 1800's/1920's or something there's a variety of sick twisted people from different eras, but that side of town does still keeps it's vintage 1910's and small American downtown feel going for it:

Obviously Gluttony is the sin most prevalent here.

No one runs the district presay but Rosie is seen as the de facto leader due to how heavily involve she is in Cannibal Town's politics and her ownership of a few successful business in the area. Of course her personality with her kind, motherly like nature has those looking up to her for guidance also helps. She's also a Hellborn Overlord in this rewrite, granted a small timer compare to many of the others but still powerful enough to be respected. Most of the cannibal's we see in CT in the show are Hellborn as well. They're there own species in Hell that stemmed from Gluttony likely before Hell was established like it is now but eventually made their way all over Hell's rings, with the Pride ring being the biggest community.

The Old Town Historic District (will think of a better name later), REPLACES DOOMSDAY ON THE MAP!!

One of the major Hellborn centric, along with being likely the oldest district in The Pentagram, but Sinners are seen here as well even if its often advised to use caution when entering the area due to Sinners not necessarily looking fondly on. Sinners also aren't able to use most magic themselves.

The Old District is the few areas in the Pentagram that still kept it's otherworldly-ness. It's one of the major hubs for anything magic related. Potions, spell books, tomes, etc. The best, and only, place in Pride for all your magical needs. Sloth and Pride are the themes of sins you'd see here

Zestial is the Overlord (hellborn in this AU) who runs this district due to his major influence and is one, if not THE oldest Overlord to still have power.

As aesthetic go: I really want to make it otherworldly, or at least un recognizable to anything on Earth being it's one of the oldest parts of Hell. The vibe I'm going for:

And of course, book stores. Lots and lots of book stores with spells:

Industrial District

Again, what it says on the tin. Basically a mixture of warehouses, factories, and infrastructure both important to Pride and not so important. Greed is the sin most rapid here along with Sloth due to production and it shouldn't surprise people that some people from the Greed Ring (including Mammon but Ssh don't tell Lucifer xD) have some sake/power in the area due to investment opportunities. The District is also where the delivery and export of goods and services from and to Pride and other rings come and go.

I haven't decided who runs the district (Likely a Hellborn Overlord who may be secretly a proxy under Mammon because c'mon that guy IS GREED if he can get his fingers on it he'll take it.), but this is where Carmilla Carmine stores most of her goods while also producing and experimenting with angelic weapons.

Most powerful people/Overlords who do business in the area don't end up living there. They have homes in surrounding districts. If anything, the living quarters in the District are where those who live inside The Pentagram but don't have the Souls (Hell's currency) to afford anywhere better to live (or if the owner of their 'soul' forces them to live but more Overlords let those under them live wherever they want). Best way to describe these quarters are like the favelas they have in Brazil:

The Five Border Districts:

I don't have names for these sections yet but these areas are made up of both Sinners and Hellborn, but two of them are more Hellborn centric (The ones on the right near the Old District) while the other three is more Sinner territory. I.M.P Offices are in the district in between Uptown and The Red Light districts. There are two Hellborn Overlords who rule both Hellborn centric districts (Zeezi and that blue flame skeleton looking guy in E3 that I'm call Frederick Fumes for now idk he looks like Frederick xD ). I haven't figured out names for the Three Overlords who rule the other areas yet but they'll likely be OCs though I may have one being an Hellborn despite being more Sinner base. Honestly they likely won't play an important role in the stories anyways so kinda doesn't matter in the long run.

aesthetic wise they're basically a mixture of old, otherworldly and modern, closer to earth architecture depending where the lean on who populates these areas the most are.

Uptown:

What is there really to say here? xD it's an uptown area. Mostly Sinners with a mixture of Hellborn. This is where the Happy Hotel resides. The Overlord who runs the district is a good friend of the Morningstar family which is why they let Charlie set up their 'pet project' there along with whatever 'token' resources Lucifer gave her (aka an old warehouse/building no one was using and nothing else 'you're on your own kid have fun' kinda ordeal).

This is also where Alastor's Radio Station broadcasts his show from (along with the screams of souls that he's taken) every morning and when he feels like ruining Vox's day.

Aesthetic wise it's basically similar to what the Five Border Districts have going on, a mixture of old and new. Tons of bigger buildings towards Downtown while slowly turning more into row housing and smaller buildings towards the hotel.

Downtown

And the final and center district of The Pentagram: Downtown! I mean, there's not much to say about it. Tall buildings, bustling businesses, tons of restaurants, etc. This is also where Sinners who land themselves in Pride after they die go to though 'immigration' and begin their start of their new afterlife. Welcome to Hell, Bitch!

However, the most (in)famous landmark is the Heavenly Clock Tower and Embassy, where the leaders of both Hell and Heaven argue and scream at eachother discuss political matters and other issues like insulting Lucifer and some of the Sins while also making sure they understand 'their place' in the system to prevent another uprising and have them bow in submission in regard to keeping the peace. The embassy remains empty about most of the year with the exception of important meetings. If anything, it's main function is the countdown when the next Extermination is.

Aesthetic is basically the same as above with a few more angelic looking buildings closer to the clock tower/embassy, often left vacant incase Heaven chooses to use them for whatever reason in the future (aka never). There's no Overlords who run the district, mostly due to heavy monitoring from Heaven above. They want to protect their little control of Hell after all.

Okay we got The Pentagram out of the way, lets talk about the other eight sections.

The Morningstar Grounds

What it says on the tin (I know I use that saying a lot but there isn't much to describe what it is). East from The Old District, this is where Lucifer and the Morningstar family live. It's basically a huge estate, one fit for a King.

There's not much more so say. Plenty of rooms, many servants and guards (all Hellborn), a huge garden in the center where Lucifer likes to spend a share of time in in filled with exotic plants from though out Hell, as well as some of his favorites back from Heaven (he's a little more nostalgic and homesick that he leads on).

Charlie no longer lives here both due to her work for the Hotel and well...she isn't on the best terms with her father (She's still good with her mother Lilith though). I'll talk about that another day though.

Aesthetic wise I haven't fully decided on one persay but here are some ideas of what I'm possibility aiming at in regard to the castle itself:

As for it's interior: Think a lot of royal colors. Purple is one you'll see though out because, ya know Pride, and various crystal and metal embellishments. It almost has a similar architecture to Heaven but painted in more dark hues. And of course, the Estates garden:

The Royal Estates

What it says- You know, nm you know the the drill by now. A suburb where various powerful and rich clans and families make their home. Stolas' mansion is here, along with a few other established names and Ars Goetia. The most established clan of demons that live here would be The Aerius, which are basically the bird people in canon we got now. Stolas and his family, Andrealphus (who's also an Ars Goetia of course) and Asmodeus are all part of this clan (for Ozzie's sake and sanity though, he wish he wasn't. XDD). All the homes vary from more 'hellish' to looking similar to the way Stolas' home is in the show. While the suburb is mostly made up of homes, there is a little downtown like area in the center and a main street when you first enter the area with shops and restaurants along with whatever else they desire. Who wants to share a space with those sinners and hellborn presents afterall? Disgusting!

The Five other Suburbs

I'm still working this area out but there are five other suburbs to the Estates but no where as posh/not posh and kinda mundane honestly. Not interesting and likely won't be bought up much outside of maybe I.M.P visiting these areas once in a while. The major four are all hellborn being Sinners took over most of the city and they wish to stay far from them when possible, with one suburb being more imp and lower rank demon centric. the fifth one is a small area that's aimed towards Fallen Angels that aren't royalty or higher rank, but Hellborn live here as well.

(Heaven likes to deny it, but more of their ilk are declared Fallen that they claim though it isn't as common now due to cracking down on free thinkers and plenty of propaganda to keep the status quo)

Each area has it's own culture and feel due to Hellborn from around Hell live in these areas, not just those from Pride. Maybe I'll go deeper into these suburbs later on the line but there isn't much more to say right now.

The Bad Lands

And finally, lets talk about the vast lawless (not that there are any LAWS in Pride, let alone much in Hell), dangerous and unpredictable wasteland that those in Pride have titled The Bad Lands. There's no real civilization out here, only wildlife and dangers that made Hell it's home far before Lucifer's Fall, along with some creations that Lucifer himself made himself that he couldn't tame. There are a few fringed groups that made The Bad Lands their home, a lot of punk and biker gangs, mostly Sinners, along with a few hunting guilds. Cherri Bomb is a part (or at least was) of one of these gangs and Barbie may have hanged with a few of them during her party girl/relapse stage.

But why adventure out into The Bad Lands to begin with? Only someone that's either stupid or desperate for a thrill that The Pentagram doesn't offer them would dare to step foot out alone. Perhaps some are looking to build there own little community of likeminded individuals or maybe a cult they can have control over. Maybe some wish to seek out and take on the various creatures there and to sell resources gathered to those within the city, or maybe it really is as simple as taking a risk. It's not like you have anything else to lose now that you live in Hell...

The place is also used by many Overlords as a place to execut and 'dispose' of bodies (Hellborn or Sinners killed by angelic weapons) or restrained to suffer a slow death by being left to the elements/be feasted on by the wildlife there.

As aesthetics go, I wanted to go with an otherworldly feel, something you wouldn't see on Earth, but at the same time also feel familiar. Either way, its a place that screams 'fear' and 'danger'.

Anyways, not sure when I'll get the second part of this out. Hopefully sooner than later but we'll see...

LOTS of life stuff is happening god what's the laundry list . . . Too much to name but to summarize WHY there's not been a new chapter out in a bit:

i think looking at my version history I've had like a collective,,, 6 hours to write over the course of like? A month? rough. bad. sucks.

Got a new job semi in my field (film), STILL working my old admin job at the same time because I need the money, and on WEEKENDS when I'd USUALLY be working on CK is typically taken up by:

Chores around the house that need doing! I finally moved into an apartment, back with my old roommates innnn August? Yeah August.

DnD, with said Roommates! We play as often as possible, so. Like every weekend. And we yap so sessions are like 4-6 hours on the SHORT end of the spectrum.

And, the most important part, but albeit the newest addition to my life: My mom is doin' chemo right now, and will be for the next few months! Everything kinda gets dropped for that priority, yknow? this is also NOT me asking for pity or condolences BY THE WAY!!! A simple love ya take ya time kiss kiss is plenty, i do not love sorrys, i hate em

this isn't me saying HEY FUCK YOU FOR ASKING !!!!!!! Nor a guilt trip, I swear. I want a new chapter out of me as much as you do!! This is just me explaining, I PROMISE I'm not slacking lol, I'm relatively fast at writing. I think. I just literally have not had the screen time to do so.

which is why I started doing blurbs to sort of help tide you over while i take 10 years!!! is it working? me no know.

I THINK i'm free this weekend, roommates can't do DnD this weekend, I can't travel because concert tours are destroying the infrastructural integrity of my city all weekend, so,,, I think I'll have time to write? If I have the energy? That's a big if.

Update February 20th, 2024 - Next Week on the Patreon!

Hey everyone, it's time for the update! So real quick and to get it out of the way, I am making great progress on the new chapter. It's now up to 27k words, which means I did 7k words in a day. Some of those were copy and pasting from other choices, but in fight scenes, that's a bit inevitable. All the different variations of Strength + Offensive, Speed + Defensive, etc. etc. have been interesting to write. I really do enjoy writing fight scenes, because you can describe every character in it as doing something cool and showing off some of their strengths and weaknesses. 

But, main part of this update; a sneak peek into what's going to be up next week on the Patreon! I'm excited to announce that, when I can, I'm gonna be doing interviews with known authors in the interactive fiction zone. First up to bat we have @barbwritesstuff, author of Blood Moon and the current WiP Thicker Than. That's on top of other projects based in the Ren'Py engine. Very talented individual, and I think she'll have some interesting stuff to say. 

Onto the next thing you can expect next week; AN AU SHORT STORY FEATURING ELIZABETH/ARTHUR! This is a Hunter AU where the PC and Hawks are both monster hunters, and they will be hunting down an ever elusive Kelpie. This particular story is going to be a Rivals to Lovers trope, or a Rivals with Benefits trope (whichever you want to call it). The PC in this will be a little snarky to combat Hawks' ice cold personality. I have no idea how long it's going to be yet, but my guess is at least 3-4 thousand words since it's already 1100 words and they haven't even ran into the Kelpie yet.

Hi, so

For some reasons my hard drive collapsed. It's gone. I'm gonna look into trying to recover as much as possible from it, hoping not everything is completely gone, but in the case the worst scenario happens, I've lost 99% of the stuff I made from 2015/2016 to. Well. Yesterday. That means projects that I've been working for months, little doodles, art that was ready to be posted, zine art, merch files, commission files, along with important documents & memories, and, as stupid it might be, progress in ridiculously hard video games

To say I'm a broken mess rn is an understatement lol

Hi, guys!

Here's the situation: I currently don't have a job, which I'm perfectly okay with. The last few months with minimal face-to-face contact with people has really helped my energy levels and overall mental health. The problem is that the paycheck I do have coming in once a month only really covers the bills, leaving me with pretty much nothing for groceries and other extraneous expenses.

So, I decided I'd finally sit down and figure out the whole Patreon thing I talked about a really, really long time ago. Here's how it's gonna work out:

First off, everything I post is going to be free to view. There are a couple of tiers that you can treat as like little tip jars if you want to support me, but it's not necessary to see anything (at this time). I may eventually figure out more stuff to post that I will put behind a paywall--like the interactive fiction I've been working on--but until then, works in progress and any personal art I do will be posted for everyone's viewing pleasure.

Secondly, I'm opening up my commissions again. Right now, I'm only offering single person portraits like the examples below for $50. I will, however, open up a two-character portrait option here soon. There are more details on my Patreon about this tier and how it works.
