Demon Swap: Sebastian from "Black Butler" and Lord Sullivan from "Welcome to Demon School Iruma-Kun!"
Imagine if you will, a Ciel who makes his deal with Lord Sullivan, but Sullivan does not require a soul, instead requesting that Ciel become his grandson. This has to be the easiest deal a human has ever struck with a demon, but oh, how mistaken that was.
Ponder perhaps, an Iruma who's soul is sold by his parents to the starving demon Sebastian, only for Sebastian to find, he'd like instead to refine this soul before devouring it, afterall he is a demon a finer tastes, and thus the Butler persona is born.
Ciel returns home with an... estranged relative(?) eager to take Gaurdianship over the newly orphaned earl
Iruma is taken to the demon realm, suddenly placed upon the lap of luxury, with a loyal butler pleased to do whatever he says- only Iruma has no clue what he even wants
Is Ciel safe- Oh yes, definitely, Lord Sullivan is formitable force when he wants to be, and he will tear apart anyone who dares attempt to hurt his grandbaby, and what's more is more than willing to do anything he asks as per their agreement. But oh, oh how Ciel often replays the events of that terrible day, and wishes he perhaps negotiated for different terms for their contract...
Ciel, tries to solve a murder, as Sullivan Fawns in the background ("Oh my goodness look how cute my grandson is!!! He's doing such a good job, don't you think Opera?? I should find him a little detective's outfit, he'd be just precious!!!!!" "NO!")
Iruma meanwhile is far too aware of the fact that he's just glorified wagyu, but you know what? This might as well be how his miserable life ends, he could enjoy it... he supposes... just has to learn how to enjoy things. Thankfully Sebastian is one hell of a butler and knows just what Iruma wants right when he needs it
and of course he helps out behind the scenes at every chance he gets, he's not going to let his snack be discovered by the rest of demon kind afterall. Sometimes not even behind the scenes, school rules be damned, any butler worth his salt goes wherever his master does. Professor Kalego hates him

🩇🎃 WEEKLY FIC ROUND-UP 🎃🩇
All the fics I’ve read and really enjoyed in the past week-ish. Reminder: This list features any and all ratings and themes. Please look at tags and warnings on ao3 before reading.
Merlin
The Hunt for Red Emrys by darkbluedark
King Arthur sets out to keep his promise to the spirit of the Druid boy by repealing his father's ban on magic. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done, for reasons including but not limited to the following:
(1) He can't change the law until he understands magic better, but no sorcerer is willing to explain magic to him until he changes the law;
(2) The sorcerers all have some strange obsession with Merlin, which is awakening all sorts of feelings in Arthur that he really doesn't fancy examining too closely;
(3) He is starting to feel like the butt of some Druid-population-wide inside joke involving the mysterious phenomenon called Emrys; and
(4) Oh yeah, Morgana is still trying to kill him.
Thus he embarks on a journey of discovery, diplomacy, accountability, and self-improvement, and maybe even falls in love along the way.
Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-Kun
Kalego-sensei is...dead? by IcyPheonix
The Misfits come to school one day to discover that they have, a substitute teacher. They decide that this can only mean one thing; Kalego-sensei, has died.
He hasn't but that's not gonna stop them from pretending he has of course.
SVSSS
The Moon's Beloved Shadow by mofumofu
Shen Qingqiu is a man who hides his twin brother from the world with the ferocity of a phoenix-eyed mother crane.
Shen Yuan is a helpless transmigrator who wishes Airplane-bro had given even a single bit of backstory for this side character he's inhabiting!
Luo Binghe isn't doomed to face the Endless Abyss, but he is forced to confront something infinitely more frustrating: an overly protective brother.
Natsume Yuujinchou
What Colors Do You See In This Monochrome World by mermorgie.
Natori's voice brought him back to the present. "You alright there, Natsume?" The look the exorcist was giving him was warm and a tad concerned. Natsume gave him a small, but earnest smile. "I'm fine, Natori-san. Just a bit nervous." This was the truth. He had no idea why the head of the Matoba Clan invited him this time, but he was sure that the man was up to no good.
Or: Natsume gets invited to an exorcist meeting. He is not too happy about it, but at least the view is great.
Harry Potter
Three's Family by darkbluedark
It’s May 1979 and the Order has just apprehended a pair of mysterious wizards who look remarkably like a Potter and a Malfoy. Naturally, James Potter and Sirius Black are called in to identify the strangely familiar strangers and determine their backgrounds and loyalties.
(This would be a lot easier if their captives weren’t convinced everyone they talk to is dead. It would also be easier if they didn’t spend half their bloody time bickering.)
-
“Just ask them questions only they would know the answer to,” Malfoy suggests.
“There’s not a single thing that I know about either of them from the first war that any old Death Eater couldn’t find out.”
“How is that possible?” Malfoy huffs. “He’s your father!”
“Am I or am I not famously an orphan?” Potter snarls.
Once More Unto The Boggart by darkbluedark
Professor Lupin let out his breath very slowly. “So this is why you think you’ve been struggling to make progress with the Patronus charm? Because a part of you wants to let the dementor close, in a way, in order to hear your parents?”
Harry nodded again, though more guiltily this time. “I want to let the boggart out, just once, and, er, not cast the charm."
Those Who Have Seen by darkbluedark
Only those who have seen death can see thestrals.
It turns out, thestrals look different for those who have seen Death.

Cheating (KalegoxGN!reader)
Main Masterlist
As a teacher at Babyls, you had to go through and experience many things. Demon-eating plants on the loose, potion labs blowing up, and the many, many events that Babyls put on and almost always had something go wrong before you, the teachers, had to fix it. In the few years you had been there, you thought you had gone through it all, until now.
For the first time ever, you had caught a student cheating.
I
yea. Look I'm not a teacher, yet at least (I'm getting a minor in education and intend to teach both ESL and probably biology (which is my major) and palaeontology (which is my Master's/PhD's) but the amount of AI generated essays I've seen as an undergraduate writing centre tutor and is just grrrrrrr. Anyway have my little rant fic.
"Do you know why I've asked you to stay behind?"
A smile stayed on your face as you stared directly into the eyes of the student before you. As a human, you had long mastered the look of a hard stare while still appearing to be friendly. When the student, a fourth year by the name of Muzuki, had first come up to you after class, they had been cocky, confident. The absolute picture of unwarranted hubris if there ever was one. And so you sat comfortably in your chair, a nice soft leather from some poor Netherworld beast that Kalego had kindly bought for you, quietly waiting for Muzuki to answer your question as you continued staring at them. The longer you stared, the less comfortable they became.
A shake of the head, purple braids swinging with the force of it. An eyebrow raised as the silence continued. "Really? None at all?" Your own head tilted to the side slightly, a smile still set on your face as you waited. Another more hesitant head shake followed. A disappointed sigh left you, and your body shifted forward so that you could reach a small stack of papers just off to the side and slid into their view. Their eyebrows scrunched together in confusion as they quickly glanced over the top laying paper, before freezing up a little. "Perhaps this gives you a hint?"
They tried to subtly shake themselves loose and continue to hold up that faked confidence. Lower jaw set stubbornly, but you could see that fear was in their eyes. And that was all you needed to pounce.
“Tell me Muzuki, do you think I’m stupid?” They visibly startled at the question, body jerking slightly in surprise at they looked back you again. You could see their mind racing as they quickly thought up an answer.
“No professor,” they settled on. You hummed in response.
“Then do you think you’re exceptionally deceptive? I’ll admit it’s an admirable trait to have in the Netherworld. To con others into giving you what you want is a way to ensure survival after all. Until of course,” you paused smiling slipping off your face and eyes narrowing at them, “you try to con the wrong person.” You watched as their body froze up; terror evident on their face before they mentally shook themselves and stood taller.
It was evident to you that they couldn’t understand why they feared you so much at that moment. After all, even if you were related to the great Sullivan, you were just some no-ranker. Supposedly not even worthy enough to receive an alef badge much less heranking like the student before you. What a shame that the demon culture never understood that sometimes, a rank meant nothing in the face of what someone could do.
While you hated making a student fear you, you also understood that this message really needed to sink in. You couldn’t let students think you could be taken advantage of, not if you wanted to remain a good teacher. And you also couldn’t let them think they could get away with everything, there were so many beings out there who would do far worse things to them if they had been deceived.
“Con, professor?” they asked, trying to keep a smirk on their face but you could see the slight tremors moving through their body that belied how they really felt.
“Yes Muzuki. Con. In this case, defined as trying to trick someone into believing something that is not true. Such as you writing this essay.” Muzuki started to open their mouth, but you held up your hand to pause them. “Don’t even bother. I’m well aware that you didn’t write this. The tone and style are far too different from your usual works, and at least three of the supposed sources you gave me do not exist. At all. And believe me I looked. I even contacted different clans to see if they had heard of the books because I wanted to believe that you wouldn’t cheat. And yet here we are.” You gestured between the two of you, a look of fear creeping on their face and a disappointed one on yours.
“I didn’t cheat,” they blurted out suddenly. You raised an eyebrow at them.
“Oh?”
“Yeah! Those sources are real books! You couldn’t find them because uhm because they belong to the Naberius clan! Yup, you know Kalego-sensei. He’s super grouchy but he always helps us in the end if we ask. And since this essay was on the particulars of summoning runes, I thought he would be good to ask.” They ended this sentence with a firm nod. You blinked at them. Once, twice, and thrice again as you tried to comprehend what they just said. Were
were they serious?
“You asked
Kalego-sensei?” you parroted back at them. More violent nods were your answer. So, they were being serious. As far as backup claims went, you could see how it could come about. There were just a few obvious issues with what they were saying. For example, “Why didn’t you ask Robin-sensei? The actual familiar teacher?”
“Well
Robin-sensei is new. Like you are professor, and to be honest I feel more comfortable asking Kalego sensei since he used to run the class. It’s a habit to think of him as the familiar teacher rather than Robin-sensei. Plus, I figured with such an amazing familiar as Cerberion combined with his old and high-ranking family line he had to have something worth checking out.” You slowly nodded your head, mostly in disbelief rather than actually agreeing with what they were saying. If you hadn’t known already known that the Naberius family had no such books, you could see it as a liable thing happening.
What a shame that you knew it wasn’t true since Kalego allowed you full access to the Naberius library. When his family wasn’t home of course. No need to have to deal with the drama fallout that would come if his family discovered that Kalego had feelings.
“I see. Yes. Kalego-sensei is rather helpful, isn’t he? Always so ready to lend a hand to those willing to ask for it.” Muzuki nodded more, so fast that their braids practically whipped around in a frenzy. It appeared they were really going to fight you on this. You admired their tenacity and their bravery to involve Kalego of all demons. A grin lit up your face, “In fact, since this is clearly just a misunderstanding why don’t we just call him over here?”
You watched as their face went through a series of emotions. First pride and relief at believing they had in fact tricked you, before confusion set in before finally landing in panic mode as your words sunk in.
They waved their hand about, “Well I mean there’s no need for that is there? It’s just like you said it was simply a misunderstanding. I’m sure Kalego-sensei is really busy right now and I would hate to bother him for something so small.”
“Nonsense! It’s like we agreed earlier, Kalego-sensei is always willing to lend a helping hand, and it wouldn’t be too much to tear him away from whatever work he is currently doing just to confirm this. Between you and me he could use some more breaks and since this is such a simple thing, he can be in and out and still get a few minutes’ rest from it to get back to work with a fresher mind. A win-win all around wouldn’t you say?”
The grin on your face was downright feral and you knew it. Briefly you wondered how far they would take this. After all, Kalego would never tolerate being used in a lie for something so insignificant as this. Honestly, there wasn’t much Kalego would allow someone to lie using him. You liked to think he would lie to keep you out of jail but that was a 50/50 shot depending on what happened to cause you to be arrested in the first place. Perhaps best not to chance it.
It took only a second for you to shoot off a text to Kalego’s phone and lean back in your chair, hands clasping in front of you. A second for the student to realize what exactly had just happened and you watched their eyes. Pure panic was enveloping them. The predator in you purred at causing the feeling and you understood why Kalego acted so spitefully so often. It really was a nice feeling.
It was only a minute of you and Muzuki staring at one another before you heard the clunking steps of Kalego’s boots. Ah, he was not in a happy mood for you to hear him. You suddenly felt pretty bad for Muzuki considering what you were about to unleash on him. The door to your room was slammed open and in walked the demon in question. You could practically see the dark shadows of anger flowing off of him; his lips pulled into a snarl. Muzuki shrunk into themselves at his look but you could only just barely control yourself from rolling your eyes at him. If this were an anime you were almost certain there would be a giant sweat drop on your head at Kalego.
“What,” he snarled at you, teeth on full display. This time you actually did roll your eyes before crooking a finger at him. A universal command to ‘come hither’. Out of the corner of your eye you saw Muzuki stare at you in horror at your blatant lack of fear towards Kalego, along with your audacity to actually command him. To be fair though, Muzuki wasn’t the one courting the growling menace before you, and this allowed you leeway. A lot of leeway.
“Afternoon sunshine!” you greeted him with a bright smile, the answering glare he gave in return being as much of greeting as you were going to get with witnesses about, especially while he was in a mood. Ignoring his sour mood you gestured towards your student who was still staring in terror at you. Likely believing this interaction will result in your death. “Muzuki-san here and I were just having a little discussion here and we just needed you to confirm something for me.”
Kalego raised an eyebrow at you, head tilting the slightest bit in his curiosity, before his eyes narrowed again. “And this required me coming all the way out here? Are you not a teacher? Confirm it yourself rather than wasting my time.” Another roll of your eyes came out. All the way out here was literally down the hall. It was rather convenient having your classroom only a couple hundred feet from the teacher’s room. Especially when it came to annoying your favourite demon.
“Unfortunately, it does require you to be here as it involves you. Muzuki-san here claims that you lent them books to help with their project. Directly from the Naberius library.”
“I did.”
It took every ounce of control for you not to do a double take, but the smile on your face did drop. He did what?
“I’m sorry?”
“I lent them three books from the family library.” He turned his glare over to Muzuki, “Of which I have yet to receive back.” Muzuki quickly caught onto his meaning and immediately started digging around in their bag producing three books. Each one was wrapped in beautiful leather of varying colours with gold designs embellishing them. It took everything not to drop your jaw at the sight. On the one hand you were glad the books were real ones, on the other hand you now had to apologize for saying they made them up.
Watching the books as they turned slightly you suddenly realized something. A smirk grew on your face. “I see, my apologized Muzuki, for assuming that Kalego-sensei didn’t lend you books about summoning runes. This clearly was-”
“Summoning runes?” Kalego interrupted. You turned your head back to look at him, putting on the most innocently confused face you could muster.
“Why yes, that is of course, what the essay I assigned was on. Or rather more precisely the history of evolution and modern applications and interpretations of summoning runes. We had a slight misunderstanding that they cheated on their essay, since the writing was so different from previous ones and the sources they used were ones I couldn’t find. They’ve assured me that they do exist and that they came from your library. That is the books they asked for from you, is it not? Or at least somewhere along those lines?” You watched with hidden glee as Muzuki froze at your words and Kalego’s sharp eyes trained onto them like a hunting dog before its prey.
Gotcha.
“No,” Kalego drawled out slowly and you saw his eyes glinting with understanding, “it is not. These books are on potions, which has little to do with runes.” Which you knew, because you had read those specific ones before.
“Oh really,” you said, locking your own eyes onto the now terrified student. “What a surprise. Are there any other books they borrowed from you?”
“No.”
You hummed in understanding, slowly getting up to walk around your desk and lean against it with your arms crossed in front of your chest. “Muzuki, I think it would be best if you told the truth now. Don’t you?”
___________________
“An auto pen!” you shrieked as soon as the door shut. Muzuki had spilled everything before being reprimanded by the both you and assigned detentions for the next two weeks. They also had an automatic zero on the paper and considering it was worth 15% of their grade, well things weren’t looking too good in your class for them right now. “A pen that automatically writes essays for them! That does everything for them! If I hadn’t noticed the writing style and checked the sources who knows how many assignments they would have gotten away with! How many others are currently doing it? Delkira above I’m going to have to carefully go over each and every thing they’ve all handed in to me again. Just to make sure others didn’t do it!” You were a snarling mess, teeth bared in anger as you paced back in forth in front of your desk, Kalego sitting calmly on one of the student’s tables as you essentially lost your marbles over this.
“I mean seriously! Why did they think it was ok! It’s not like I asked for much! Three weeks to write 1500 words and they decided to have a stupid pen do it for them! I have so many students out there pouring their heart and soul into these papers, weeks of their time down the drain so that they can get what they feel is the perfect paper. Then people like Muzuki think its ok to wait till the last minute and just have something else do it for them! It makes me want to scream!” In fact you did scream, a small aggravated yell tore from your throat at the end of the sentence, hands thrown in the air.
“Why aren’t you saying anything? I thought you of all people would be spitting fire over
this.” You turned to face him properly as you once again passed right in front of the demon and faltered in what you were saying at the look on his face. To an outsider he would have been completely unrecognizable. His dark eyes were soft as they stared at you and his lips were turned up in a small smile. You felt your heart clench at the look and everything in you melted. Pale fingers reached out the short distance and hooked under your belt, pulling you closer to him so that you were so close you might as well be sharing breath.
His other hand lifted up and caressed the side of your face, thumb brushing your cheek. “I love seeing you like this.” Was all he said as you leaned into the touch.
You couldn’t help the small snort of laughter at the sentence. “What? Angrier than a hydra whose nest had been messed with?”
Now it was his turn to roll his eyes in exasperation at you, “No you fool, caring about your students. You treat them like your own younglings most times but never let it stop you from doing what needs to be done. You’re so angry because you care about them and want them to succeed. If Muzuki had actually written that essay, you would probably be throwing around praises like no tomorrow. And I’ll be everything that when you see them next, you’re probably going to have them write an extra credit essay to retain some of that grade. Even if I do think you should let them sink.”
A flush rose to your skin at the feeling of being called out. “That’s because they’re good kids! They’re just a little
misguided in thinking at times. And I wouldn’t do it the next time I saw them! Just maybe
 in a week or two
if it seems like they learned their lesson of course.”
“Of course,” He hummed at you, before smirking slyly. “Although that would mean I lose the bet.” He his hand suddenly slid from your cheek to the back of your neck and pulled you forward. Just a hairs breath away from your mouth was his own. “Which means I owe you everything.”
With that he connected your lips and you couldn’t help the sigh that left you. Your arms lifted up and wrapped around his neck, hands lightly playing with the short hairs that ended right above his capelet’s collar. The both of you pulled away after a few seconds and rested your foreheads together. It was rare that Kalego showed such levels of intimacy outside of the walls of your shared home, and you couldn’t help but soak in every second of it.
“I think your everything is a rather acceptable payment.” You grinned at him before going back and giving him another kiss. A rather acceptable payment indeed.

Hi there!
Can we get balam x fem!reader fluff?
Reader is a human and is believed to be irumas mother by the school of babylus.
She more relaxed to being a human in the netherworld than iruma is but is quick to throw a punch towards any harm that threatens her son (ex: she grabbed kalego by the scruff and said bad puppy before throwing him out the class).
She gets caught in a harmless plant or something and is just basically chilling upside down.
While she's upside down balam comes over to help her down and she can't help but say something like the line "your eyes really are like sapphires".
Just some sweet and silly fluff please!
Pretty eyes
Balam x fem!Human!Iruma's mom! reader
A/N: Thank you for requesting! Please forgive me if my writing happens to be bad, I am still somewhat of a beginner and I'm still learning ^^
(edit: I did not know how to end it I am sorry)
Being a human in the netherworld isn't all that bad for (Y/n), after all, she is an adult and she doesn't have to work to the bone like back in the human world, but there's always someone at the back of her mind that makes her worry, Iruma a human just like her, who's now her son.
Compared to her son Iruma, she's far bold and more fearless, mainly when she thinks her son is being mistreated. After she learns what his parents make him do and how kind he is despite being mistreated, which made her very protective of him to the point that she displays her boldness and lack of fear when confronting Kalego regarding his harsh treatment of Iruma.
Being known as the daughter of Sullivan with an unknown rank rumors spread around students of Babyls about her ‘hidden powers’ and how Iruma may just as be scary as her.
“HOLY F-”
That so-called powerful mother is tangled up with a monster plant which was slowly swallowing her.
Any normal demon with magic could have gotten out of it in no time but (Y.N) is a human and she can’t use magic neither does she has tools to get herself out of the plant’s mouth.
Then once she was losing sight of the light outside a hand grabbed her.
Two big and surprisingly gentle hands.
Then (Y/N) opened her eyes again to be face-to-face with a tall big demon with white hair and a mask. She recognized him as Balam Shichiro, one of the teachers at Babyls, and the one that Iruma was talking about.
For a minute she stared back at him as he puts her down.
“Your eyes are like sapphires
.” He spoke
“Huh?”
“Oh sorry, I mean are you okay..?” Balam asks as he avoids eye contact with her as he escorts her back to the Sullivan manor.
She awkwardly walks with him, scratching her neck “Yeah, I’m fine. Thank you
.”
They’ve arrived at the gate of the mansion, she turns to thank him.
She notices him looking away like he’s holding back something “You’re Professor Balam, right? Iruma has talked about you..! Thank you, for taking care of him”
He still avoids her eye contact.
“Your eyes
”
“Huh
?”
“Your eyes are pretty”
His words made her smile a bit. “Thank You, Professor Balam, I think your eyes are pretty as well”
He seems to smile under his mask, this is the first time they’ve talked to each other despite seeing each other around and he saved her from a monster plant.
“Professor Balam, do you wanna exchange numbers?”

My theory of "Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-Kun" is that they're gonna pull a "Fire Emblem Fates" on us.
I've read that Iruma is a reincarnation of Derkila in some way. That I can see.
But you may ask - what about Ali in the ring?
Well - In "Fire Emblem Fates: Revelations" it was revealed that the main character, Corrin, was the child of the main villain but with a twist. The twist was that half of the villain's soul was "Reborn" into Corrin, who was the "good" half, while the evil half of the soul stayed as the dragon and final boss in the game.
This could be a similar situation for Iruma.
Half of Derkila's soul was in the ring, and the other half was reborn as Iruma. Iruma, who is extremely gentle and a pushover in high levels, is the good half of the soul and since he was raised with humans he shows more empathy and compassion versus a demon in the Netherworld, who's own desires trumps everthing else. Alikred would be the "demonic" half of Derkila, who as a demon shows more greed and desire than a human.
The prophecy of the next Demon King stated that "He shall make one and all of his servants". Iruma has shown compassion and friendship to Azz and Clara, making them his first "servants", but he doesn't see it that way. His kindness also spreads where he befriends the Misfits Class and sees them as family, it got to the point where Lied considers him a brother and Jazz and Allocer got revenge during the Harvest Festival to make sure Iruma and Lied got the base back. He also befriended Ameri and tried to still show compassion to Kirio (despite him being CRAZY AF). Iruma has also showed empathy and helped the Guardian of Cutthroat Valley's chick, which gained the respect of the Guardian, causing both beasts to bow to him.
"He shall form blood pacts." It's argued that blood is used to gain his familiar, who is Professor Kalego, but if you think about it ALL the students use their blood to get their familiar. The better example is that Iruma's drop of blood healed the chick from the Flying Race, which resulted the beast to trust and respect Iruma. This in turn has the Guardian of Cutthroat Valley respect Iruma as well.
This argument is also valid for "And heal all of demonkind".
"He shall descend from a foreign realm". Iruma is from the human world - enough said.
"And wear the golden ring of Solomon on his right hand". Iruma gets the ring from the Ranking Owl after the Flying Race, however it's called the "Ring of Gluttony". Since Sullivan knew about the ring and how it worked, he may have been the one who helped with the idea of the ring to begin with and gave it a different name so that other demons wouldn't travel about trying to search for it and take the throne.
Finally what seals my theory, and many other theories I've seen people made: Sullivan.
Sullivan was Derkila's right hand demon for thr most part. There was a reason Sullivan "picked" Iruma to be his grandson. He was probably watching over the human realm for centuries, watching every person being born until he finally found Iruma who had the same qualities he recognized from Derkila. Sullivan probably did a little demon manipulation on Iruma's parents, which probably turned out didn't really need much prodding since the parents are complete ASSES, for them to sell him Iruma. Sullivan even before the new term/Harvest Festival saw Derkila in Iruma when he was having that flashback.
As Iruma continued to live in the Netherworld, he learned of his own "demonic" desires - his selfish wants. Iruma WANTS to have his friends and family he had made. He WANTS a better world where they can all be toelgether and happy.
THAT is where his humanity combined with Ali's demonics is what is going to show how he would be the Demon King as he would look out for everyone and won't let ANYTHING stand in his way of that goal/dream.
Also... first episode... if Iruma couldn't do magic without the ring supposedly... how did he cast that spell during the Opening Ceremony...? Sullivan's spell of helping Iruma read/write/speak/hear demon language wouldn't help him in that aspect of casting a spell... This would show that somewhere deep in his soul he has mana as what the main villains have said that Iruma "posses the same mana as Derkila"
I just feel it's gonna be a "Fire Emblem: Fates" twist, which I am NOT against.

Hi drabble event. Please ler kalego lee opera. Please put opera in their place. Ok thanks man. Hi
Hi. Thank you for request. Hope you like man. Hi.
Ler Kalego, Lee Opera, 929 words
Tumblr media
“You know, you really should just stay the night, Professor Kalego.”  Opera approached the dark haired man as they spoke, clearly about to drag him deeper into the mansion.
“Absolutely not! If we’re done here, then I’d like to return back to my own home, thank you very much!  Kalego spoke quickly, trying to dodge the other demon's attempts to grab him and make his way to the door to escape.  He had gotten just a few inches away from it when Opera managed to grab one of his arms, dragging him back away from the exit.
“It’s quite dark out now though, it’d be best for you to stay here.  It can be dangerous to fly at night, Professor, you never know what kinds of demons and beasts may be lurking out there.”  If anyone else was hearing them, they may actually assume Opera had good intentions, however Kalego knew better, having dealt with them through his time at Babylus.
“Let me go!  Any demons out there are far less dangerous than the ones in here!” No matter how much he struggled, he couldn’t seem to break the hold they had on him.  He felt his stomach sink at the thought of being dragged to some room and having to deal with Opera’s company all night, the memories of their school days rushing back to him. Making their way through the living room, he could see that they were heading towards a hallway, where there was a room marked “Opera” on the door.  As a last resort out of panic, he used his free hand to squeeze their hip, hoping it would catch them off guard enough to release his arm.  What he didn’t expect, however, was for the red haired demon to jump up at the touch, ears and tail perking up as they froze right after, yet still keeping the grip they had on Kalego’s arm.
“Oh? And what was that?”  Kalego felt a smugness come over him, being able to recognize the reaction almost immediately.  Opera had used his own sensitivities against him many times, yet he never found himself able to return the favor, the other demon always on too high of a guard.  A smirk formed on his face, the idea of finally getting revenge for all those previous times filling him with a new sense of power.
“Nothing you need to worry about, and I would suggest not doing that again, if you know what’s best for you.”  Anyone else may have believed them, or heeded the warning they gave, the way they spoke showing no signs of having just jolted the way they did, but Kalego had already formed a plan of escape with this newfound information in mind.
“And I suggest you let me go.”  He quickly moved his hand again, keeping it at Opera’s hip as he gently scraped his nails across the area, trying to get their grip to loosen.  He could feel them begin to slightly shake under his touch, trying to hold in the laughter that threatened to spill from their lips while not lessening their hold on him.
“Thihis won’t end wehell for you.”  Though they tried to remain composed, a few giggles slipped into their words, the way their tail went back and forth and their ears slightly twitched showing that he was getting to them.
“Hmph, with all the times you tortured me with this while at Babylus, I can’t believe you’d be so susceptible to it yourself.  Think of this as a taste of your own medicine, I suppose.”  Kalego couldn’t help but feel his ego grow a bit, ignoring the threats being thrown his way, as he kept his nails on the other demon, now moving higher to just under their ribs, trying to find the spot that would finally make them drop his arm.  Usually, he would be much more wary of trying to fight back against Opera, but something about the way they reacted just gave him the motivation to keep going.  The new spot seemed to be doing the trick, the red haired demon now slightly hunched forward, small snickers escaping them as they fought to try and hold them back.
“Ihit’s not my fahault yohou made it soho easy.”  Even like this, Opera couldn’t let Kalego think he was winning too much.  The comment only seemed to drive him further, however, now wanting to see if he could get the usually well put together demon to fully crack.
“Tch, you never know when to shut up, do you?”  His hand travelled slightly back while moving higher, now slightly scratching at the back of their ribs.  This really seemed to get to them, their body jolting once more, a small noise that almost sounded like a squeak coming from them, and the grip on his arm finally releasing before they moved away, quickly flipping to face their back away from him.  Kalego chucked a bit at finally getting his arm back, but his smirk quickly fell upon seeing Opera’s glare fall on him.
“You.”  Kalego jumped hearing them speak again, already having fully recovered from his ‘attack’.  He found himself quickly backing away, remembering his original goal of making it out the door, and realizing that if he stayed, payback would be imminent.  Not bothering to respond, he dashed to the exit, but didn’t make it nearly as far as before, Opera quickly grabbing both his arms this time to drag him to the room.  Kalego was reminded soon after why he shouldn’t try to mess with Opera.

SKETCH DUMP
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
most of these are Mairimashita, Iruma-Kun sketches! I'm gonna confess that the teachers of Babyls are my favorites in the show, especially Professor Robin and Professor Kalego (I love their dynamic).
And here's a lit tidbit about my misfit drawing: Originally, Iruma was going to be eating a comically large ham, but I decided not to. I might make another post with the Love trio enjoying a nice meal together!
Professor Robin is one of my favorite characters! I love his energy (and stupidity), and what solidified him as my favorite was the scene where he's standing on the cliff as the sun is setting!

For the Sake of a Smile (V.2) Chapter Four
Title: For the Sake of a Smile (Revised)
Overall Rating: Mature (18+)
Chapter Rating: T: Teen (starting to lead into spicy thoughts)
Trigger warnings: Nothing beyond the child abuse hinted in the series, though we do explore the consequences a bit more.
Main Pairing: Balam Shichiro/Reader
Summary: Hell on earth was your motto for your job. Granted, you were pretty sure earth really was hell, considering the shit you had seen in your life. And the fact your coworker was a child.
A child named Suzuki Iruma, in fact. A kid who’s life was decidedly worse than yours, but yet he smiled despite everything. It wasn’t long after meeting him that you decided you’d do a lot for his smile. Including summoning a literal demon and signing your soul away.
But as it turns out, hell (The Netherworld, actually) was a lot better than living on earth. Demons were more humane than a lot of humans you knew.
And Iruma’s smile wasn’t the only one that would change your life.

The Sullivan mansion was lit up against the dark sky, and full of some of the demons Kalego dreaded the most.
Iruma wasn't that bad a student, especially compared to how he could be. The boy was striving hard with his studies, and had even rallied the rest of his class around him.
And you weren't terrible either, even if you did invade his office that one time. And despite his own reservations, Shichiro seemed to have taken a quick liking to you. The two of you were frequently texting each other to the point of distraction. He had never seen someone warm up to the other demon so quickly, especially with his quirks.
But if Shichiro trusted you, then that was enough for Kalego.
So, to be more specific, it was Lord Sullivan and Opera that were the reason Kalego hesitated at the door. His hand clenched into a fist, raised to knock, but he was having difficulty doing so.
Lord Sullivan. Opera. Facing both of them, cornered and unable to do anything but endure their torment.
He could get lucky. You could answer, and he could quickly give his assessment of Iruma and then leave before he ever saw the other two demons.
Alternatively, Opera or Lord Sullivan could answer. And then his nightmare would truly begin. He wouldn't reach home until morning.
Kalego grinded his teeth, ashamed of his fear, and slammed his knuckles in quick succession against the door. What was he? A coward? He could face those two. He wouldn't enjoy it, but if he had survived thus far

The demon king himself had to be smiling on him as you opened the door, looking rather surprised by his presence. "Professor Kalego? What are you doing here?"
"The Chairdemon had the wonderful idea that I should visit the Misfit class' family before the final exams," He grounded out, not unsurprised by your ignorance. Especially considering Lord Sullivan's lackadaisical nature. "What should have been a relaxing day at home has been nothing short of torture."
There was sympathy in your expression, even as you rolled eyes with an aggrieved huff. "Or for the love of
I take it that's not typical?"
"No, this would be the first year I've had to do such a thing."
"Devi," You swore, making him smile faintly. "If you want, we can discuss things back at the school come Monday. Or do you want to come in and get it over with? I promise, either way, I won't make you stay long, or drink my attempt at tea."
Despite the obvious attempt at levity, a shiver ran down the demon's spine as he recalled your attempt at tea. He wasn't sure how anyone could ruin such an easy drink, but you were now infamous for a drink that could kill a demon where he stood without a drop of poison.
He wondered if he needed to warm Shichiro about that, or let him discover that for himself
.
"Let's get this over with," He sighed and stepped inside as you opened the door further and gestured for him to enter. He automatically scanned for any sign of red hair, or Sullivan's plum suit. But there was neither as you led him towards a sitting room just off the main hall.
A small, simple sitting room. No chairdemon or his security devil to torment him.
"I could ask Opera to bring some tea," You offered, your back turned so you didn't see Kalego's eyes widen slightly at the perceived threat.
"No! There's, uh, no need," He coughed when you looked back at him, rather confused. "I would like to be quick, so I'd prefer to forgo the pleasantries."
"As you wish," You submitted, gesturing to the small couch as you sat across on the straight back chair. "So, how has Iruma been doing, truly?"
Kalego pulled the notebook from his bag, "The first half of the semester, his grades were abysmal, but-!" He froze as he looked back, and somehow Lord Sullivan had appeared beside you, squirming in place like an excited child.
"Do tell how our little Iruma-kins have been doing!" Sullivan prompted as Kalego froze. “Is he doing well? Eating well? Any bullies?”
“You know very well the answers to those questions,” Kalego growled, snapping out of his shock with a snarl. “Considering you’re the chairdemon.”
“Now, be nice, Kalego,” Opera spoke from behind Kalego, spooking the teacher out of his seat. “You know how much Lord Sullivan worries about his grandson.”
“Where did you come from?” Kalego hissed, scrambling away from the other demon.
Opera simply smiled as they offered the younger demon a cup of tea. “It would be rude if I didn’t welcome my kohai into my lord’s home.”
You muttered something under your breath that sounded like a swear, which comforted Kalego a small, tiny bit. At least he wasn’t the only reasonable adult in the room. “Professor, I apologize for the intrusion," You stated through gritted teeth. "Do you want to continue with your observations so you can continue with your evening?”
“Yes,” Kalego jumped at the chance, though relishing a sip of tea that Opera provided. He may be cautious of the red-haired demon, but their tea was often perfectly brewed and refreshing after the never-ending nightmare of a day.
Thankfully, the rest of the evening went smoothly, with you reigning Lord Sullivan in whenever he started to get too excited. It was actually amusing for Kalego to see you grab the chairdemon by the horn with a growl when Sullivan reached for the notebook he kept on Iruma.
Lord Sullivan was a Rank Teth [Nine] demon while you were a demon who was supposedly unranked and rumored to possess no magic. Yet, despite the vast difference in rank, you easily gave your alleged father such grief. Not that it wasn't undeserving, but Sullivan was said to be the most powerful demon in the realm.
Yet you showed no hesitancy. No deference whatsoever.
Even if Lord Sullivan was your true father, his rank demanded respect no matter how irritating the elder demon could act. Especially considering he was also one of the Three Heroes as well as chairdemon of Babyls.
Either you actually ranked equal to Lord Sullivan - which was hard to believe despite your son quickly climbing the ranks himself - or you truly had no regard for rank, which honestly made you even more dangerous. The rank system is what kept demon society together, otherwise the different clans would be at each other’s throats to prove who was most powerful.
Something, Kalego felt, was amiss. Even with Shichiro’s reassurances that you were no threat, he was more sure now than ever.  And he wouldn’t rest until he figured out what.
--+--
After the End of Terminus a few weeks later, Sullivan was happy to throw another party for Iruma passing his exams. Laughter filled the mansion between the four of you. (Even Opera had chuckled more than once due to the combined antics.)
You had sent Balam a text, thanking him for his efforts, which had led into sporadic texting through the evening. Which, really, was now typical of your budding friendship. A day hadn't passed that you hadn't talked to him in some form or another, drifting from simply discussing the difference between realms to sharing more personal stories.
“And then, I went to tell Professor Balam,” Iruma continued his story, the salamander flower sitting on the grand table, waving its little arms. “When I told him, he was really excited for me, and even spun me around in circles before he gave me the flower! And
 he also cut his hair."
You froze while teasing the adorable flower, surprised by the revelation. Opera tilted their head slightly, ears flicking with similar shock. "He actually cut his hair?"
"Uh-huh," Iruma confirmed, nodding his head. "And now it's super short."
You and Opera looked at each other before you pulled out your phone and texted the professor in question. //Iruma said you cut your hair! I want to see!//
There was a slight pause before he sent you a picture. Opera looked over your shoulder and made an odd noise before covering their mouth, but their ears and tail were twitching with amusement as they peered over your shoulder. "Oh my. Did he cut it himself?"
"Looks like it," You agreed tightly, trying not to laugh despite the fact Balam would never know. You would know, and the guilt alone would kill you. Balam was proving to be more and more of a sweetheart every day
.
But that haircut.
Both of you paused as the three dots appeared as Balam typed. //Kalego already laughed, so don't worry. Molting season begins within a few months. It'll grow out quickly then.//
You blushed, embarrassed he called you out like that without you saying a thing. Or did he just presume that based on everyone else's reaction?
You pushed those thoughts away and typed furiously back. You didn't even really think about what you were saying, just that you were upset on his behalf and wanted to give him some kind of comfort.  //Kalego is an ass, along with whoever else may have said something! You’re still handsome.//
“That's right, it is approaching that time of year,” Opera sighed. “He’s always so miserable during his molt.”
Their words made you pause, you hadn't even noticed that sentence, so focused on the first. Molt? Did all demons do that? Or just the avian ones? And what exactly did a molt entail for a demon like Balam?
--+--
//You’re still handsome. //
Balam was surprised by your message. Him? Handsome? Surely, you were joking. Some odd human humor.
His face felt warm as he re-read your text, that little voice reminding him you had been nothing but truthful when talking with him.
Did you honestly find him handsome?
But then again, you hadn’t seen his face - his scar. He had uncovered it in a misguided attempt to relate to Iruma, but you had never seen him without the mask.
'Handsome. Still handsome.'
Balam felt even more certain that he wanted to keep his scar hidden from you.
He had quickly grown to enjoy his conversations with you. There were other academic-minded demons interested in biology and the various life forms of the Netherworld, though usually not in the same way he was. It was rare to find fellow demons who shared his interest in imaginary creatures, mainly because they believed there was ‘no purpose’ to the knowledge.
Knowledge for simple curiosity sake wasn’t a very common demon trait.
But you loved to share things of your world, randomly through the day as you thought of them, or something of the Netherworld that reminded you of your home realm. He had already filled one notebook and started another with information you provided him.
Yet, it was more than you were finally able to give him facts about the realm he had dreamt of. You called it ‘friendship’, closely related to the notion of ‘allies’ that was far more
intimate, yet not quite mates. Like the bond between him, Kalego, and Opera. Or, the bond he had seen develop between the classmates of the Misfit Class.
Whatever it was, it caused you and Iruma to quickly become precious to him. Not just for the wealth of knowledge you held, but because you both awoke something in him.
He had felt so much pride when Iruma announced he passed, and when the boy quickly identified the Salamander Flower. Yes, Iruma was human and thus needed protection
but he didn't expect to feel so attached to the boy.
And you
that initial awe he felt the first time he saw you hadn't died at all. If anything it had only grown the more he talked with you, the more time he spent with you.
He would do anything to assure you both were safe and happy.
His phone beeped again, catching his attention. //By the way, the salamander flower is adorable! But apparently they normally breathe fire??//
Balam smiled to himself. Not only did you share your knowledge so openly, you were excited - hungry - to learn about the Netherworld. And he was all too happy to indulge. //Yes. But Suzy and I developed a way to remove their ignitor magic abilities, making them completely harmless.//
--+--
"No. No. Certainly not." Opera spoke as they kept tossing things out of the giant pack Iruma and Sullivan had packed together. They held up a giant plush creature, easily the size of Iruma himself, with an even more deadpan expression on their face than usual. "Why?"
"Well, that was the fifth toy I ever bought for Iruma," Sullivan explained like a sullen child. "I figured he should have it in case he gets lonely."
"Isn't this just a day trip?” You asked, crossing your arms. You loved the idea of Iruma going and hanging out with his friends at an amusement park like a normal teenager.
Even if it was the Netherworld.
Even if you weren't going along to assure he would be okay.
It was fine. Totally fine. It was obviously a class thing and you didn't want to ruin anything by being a helicopter parent. This was a good step for his independence, and for him to have a normal life.
Nevermind you had barely slept since he asked your permission and you agreed without thinking. And what sleep you did have was filled with nightmares about what could go wrong.
Devi, Iruma and the entire misfit class? Alone? In an amusement park?  You trusted Iruma not to go looking for trouble, but couldn't say the same for the rest of his class.
Besides, you couldn't shake the feeling that trouble was constantly hunting Iruma.
"Well, yes," Sullivan agreed reluctantly. "But what if he needs his alarm clock? Or his third favorite snack? Or--"
"We
might have gotten carried away," Iruma admitted sheepishly as he grandfather continued to name off items.
"The only thing you should take is your phone, money with some held back as an emergency, and wear some good walking shoes,” You listed, ticking each one off your hand. “Oh, and make sure your ring is fully charged."
Opera nodded, "I agree completely. Between Balam, Kalego, and myself, we should be able to deal with anything unforeseen should it happen."
You paused for a moment, trying to process Opera's sentence. "Wait, what?"
"Well, I really didn't like the thought of my little grandson and his dear friends going to Walter park by themselves," Sullivan explained sheepishly, refusing to meet your gaze. "I figured they needed some kind of chaperone. And you and Opera were firm about me not tagging along, so
."
"So I offered myself and my former kohais to chaperone," Opera finished. "We should be able to keep an eye on the students, and I look forward to spending time with my kohais after so long
"
The anxiety you were trying to pretend didn't exist faded away at the realization, your shoulders slumping as you sighed. "Oh thank the devil."
"See! You were worried too!" Sullivan admonished, pointing a finger at you as if he was a child catching your red handed. "Ha!"
"Of course I was worried! Who wouldn't be letting a group of teenagers like the Misfit class alone at an amusement park!" You shot back, placing your hands on your hips. "But the pros of Iruma being allowed to do normal teenager things outweighed the cons!"
"If we went ourselves, we could assure our Iruma-kins had a fun time and that he wouldn't get into any kind of trouble."
"That's called helicopter parenting, and that is the last thing he needs."
"You guys-" Iruma interrupted the argument softly. "Please, don't fight
"
Both you and Sullivan paused before taking calming breaths. "Right, sorry," You apologized, and were quickly enveloped in a hug by the lanky elder demon.
"Oh, it's okay my little princess! I know you just want the best for our little Iruma-kins!" Sullivan quickly gushed. "You're really the best daughter and mother of my grandson! I couldn't ask for anyone better!"
You rolled your eyes, though your heart warmed at his words, and Iruma's smile. You held out a hand to the boy, who happily accepted the offer and was soon pulled into the hug.
Everything would be okay.
--+--
After Iruma left with Opera and his class, you and Sullivan hitched a few of the other Nightmares to a secondary carriage. A day of shopping at Magic Street was waiting for you two; a sort of bonding trip for 'father and daughter' as well as distracting both of you from Iruma's trip.
And honestly, it felt nice. You weren't used to having money to spend frivolously, but Sullivan made it clear that no expense would be spared if it meant your happiness.
Did you want the entire book set on the history of the Netherworld? It was yours. As were the books regarding the Deities that inhabited the Netherworld alongside the demons. Several advanced textbooks that students had been asking about? Consider them part of the Library of Babyls.
Some of Balam's texts on imaginary creatures? Sullivan had a glint in his eyes but said nothing as he added it to the growing pile. You pointedly ignored the look while wondering if it would be odd by demon standards to ask him to sign them.
After you had all but bought out the bookstore - set to be delivered to the mansion later - Sullivan then dragged you into the other shops, happy to parade around his daughter.
You were grateful for the odd updates from Opera and Balam, reassuring you everything was okay. Especially when Balam informed you that apparently Iruma's phone had died, making you curse at yourself for not making sure it was fully charged.
Speaking of which, the biology professor sent you a picture of what you assumed was meant to be a penguin. Followed shortly by a text: //Are these actual creatures?//
//Yep! They're flightless birds that live in the coldest climates on earth.//
/Flightless birds? Really?//
//They're specialized to swim instead of fly. They can dive deep into oceans to catch fish. And they are so cute waddling on land.//
Sullivan caught you smiling at your phone. "Is Iruma finally sending pictures?" He asked a little too innocently, not that you noticed.
"No, I'm just talking with Balam," You answered distractedly, smiling as you watched the dots appear and disappear as he apparently typed, deleted, and retyped his reply. You could easily imagine his conflicted expression he often developed when he had a million questions and didn’t know which one to start with.
You found it so cute when he was all flustered like that.
"You seem to have grown quite close to him over the last few weeks." Sullivan hummed, his delighted tone pulling you from your thoughts. There was an impish smile on his face, automatically making you panic.
"What? No!" You answered immediately as you shoved the phone away as if it contained something other than a brief discussion of penguins. Sullivan's brows only raised higher, his smile never faltering as he caught you in your
not lie, but not truth either. "I mean, it's not like whatever you're thinking about! It's just a mutual interest in the differences between our worlds. Purely academic."
Sullivan's smile only grew as he clapped excitedly, stars in his eyes. "My little princess! You're growing up so fast."
"It's not like that!" You insisted again, but Sullivan ignored your argument, and instead threw his arms around you, not caring you were in the middle of magic street and everyone was now gawking."My g- ! Dad! Stop it!"
"I'm just so happy to see you smiling so much!" He cried. Literally. You could feel the tears falling onto your shoulders. “You’ve been so gloomy since that first month after you arrived. I thought you were happy working in the library, but now look at you! You're really blossoming!”
Despite his lanky frame, Sullivan was strong, refusing to let you go as he hugged you tightly. You gave up (and maybe gave in too) and allowed him to embrace you to his heart’s content. You hid your face in the plush fur lining of his collar, your arms wrapping around him as you tried to convince yourself you just wanted to be friends with Balam. Surely he just wanted to be friends (allies? Was that their term?) with you.
Yet, there was no denying the small attraction to the giant demon. You always had a thing for tall, broad people, and apparently that carried over to demons as well. Then there was his voice, deep and cultured, even if it was muffled by his mask. And the fact that despite being a literal demon, he was so kind and gentle, taking such care to not break things, to not accidentally injure you or Iruma, even when he was wrapped up in the excitement of a new discovery.
Which led to the fact he was as much of a book worm as you, constantly seeking new knowledge about your realm.
And the skinship habit of his. Which didn’t help your case. At all.
Could you just blame being touch-starved for sinking into his touches? Or for being all too happy to lean into him as he mindlessly petted your head? Could you blame that for when he seemed to gravitate to your side (or maybe you to him) when you sat next to each other to go over notes?
Yet, Lord Sullivan’s frequent hugs and everything didn’t make you feel the same. Like right now, trapped in a bear-tight embrace, didn't cause your heart to beat wildly or want to melt. It made you happy, yes, and also made you feel loved and cared for, but in a completely platonic manner. Times like these were when you honestly felt like Sullivan was filling that hole your lack-of-family had caused as a child.
That was not quite true with Balam. Your heart and stomach fluttered with butterflies. His touch both caused you to feel relaxed and heated at the same time.
Your mind kept drifting closer to having dirty ideas before you were able to reel it back into safe territory.
“Now! Come on!" Sullivan suddenly announced as he pulled away, though still gripped your hand tightly. "We need to get you some new things to really make his head turn!”
Before you knew what was going on, Sullivan was pulling you into yet another clothing shop.  Before, he had simply wanted you to find some everyday wear other than the faculty outfit you wore more often than not. But now he was encouraging you enthusiastically to try on things that were far more expensive and luxurious.
“I’m never going to have a use for this!” You protested after he and the dressmaker had convinced you into trying on an evening gown. Granted, the thing was absolutely gorgeous, with a sheen like silk, dotted with pearls and other gems. You would really feel like a princess if you ever wore it to a function.
But, you were a Librarian.  What kind of even would you even wear this to?
“Oh, you’d be surprised,” Sullivan chuckled to himself, his eyes glimmering behind his glasses with that secretive humor of his that made you worry about what he had up his sleeve. “Besides! I’ve been spoiling my grandson, but not you! I’ve been such a neglectful parent to my princess!”
“Hardly,” You responded flatly, reflecting back to your room. The massive amounts of books that you had quickly collected because of him. Your job, which you only had because of him. And then there was the open love and affection Sullivan showered you with every morning. Or how he popped in randomly into the library with a tea tray and goodies piled high.
It was more than you could have ever asked for, even as a child. It was definitely more than what you expected when you first summoned him, or when you signed the contract.
All you wanted -- or rather expected -- was to be by Iruma’s side in hell. And while this was the Netherworld, it was about as far from hellish as you could have ever imagined.
“You’re my little princess and I want to spoil you while I still can before a big strong demon captures your heart and whisks you away!” Sullivan continued, making you blush as you ducked back into one of the changing rooms. Even behind the door, you could faintly hear him and the dressmaker discuss options as well as gossip about your imagined love life.
Weren’t fathers usually overly protective? But then again, you had to admit that would only have made things worse. Especially since nothing actually was going on between you and Balam.
It was just a little crush, even if you had thought you were far past such ‘childish’ things. Maybe it was just because your life was stable and (relatively) safe that your emotions decided to go through the typical stages of adolescence that you had to skip as you had struggled to survive by yourself.
You toyed with the idea as you pulled back on your regular clothes and left the small room lined with mirrors. You expected Sullivan and the dressmaker to tackle you again with another dress, except both seemed focused on the television mounted behind the counter. It was muted, but you could read the subtitles as it showed an amusement park being devastated by three giant monsters.
//Happening now: Attack at Walter Park. Random attack by monsters, or coordinated attack?//
Your blood turned to ice. Walter Park was where Iruma was.
Before you could even process what you were doing, you were sprinting out of the shop, no thought in your mind except that you had to reach Iruma. You had to find and protect him.
But you didn’t even know which direction Walter Park was.
Sullivan wasn’t far behind you, and easily caught up with you as you panicked in the streets, pacing the plaza in hopes of seeing some sort of sign that would lead you to the amusement park.
“He needs me!” you answered when he called your name frantically, quickly reaching you thanks to his long legs. “I have-I have to get to him! I have to protect him!”
“We will,” Sullivan soothed, trying to calm you as he placed his hands on your shoulders, making you focus on him. “But trust that Opera, Balam, and Kalego will protect him until we arrive. Blindly rushing in with no plan will only lead to further disaster. You need to calm yourself first.”
It was easier said than done, but he patiently guided you through a few deep breaths to help calm your mind. Once he was satisfied you were at least somewhat more rational, Sullivan stood to his full height, his large bat-like wings spreading wide as he offered his hand to you. “Now, let’s go save our boy.”
You took his hand, and was quickly pulled into his arms before he took to the sky, faster than you could believe.
--+- Su-Ki-Ma --+--
To be honest, you enjoyed spending time in the stables behind the mansion. You never got the opportunity in your old life to be near horses, or any other kind of animal outside the stray cat or dog.
Or dead fish. So much fish.
Not that the Nightmares were ‘normal’ horses. They were taller than your typical racehorse, with sharp teeth, a thick coal-colored coat contrasting their equally thick white mane and tail, and of course, their blood-red eyes.
Yet, despite how imposing and terrifying they looked at first, they proved to be gentle beasts once they realized you were happy to feed them a few of the sugar cubes that Opera would rarely give as a treat.
Though, feeding them the raw meat that constituted their main diet still made your stomach squirm. Because, of course, they were demon horses so their diet mainly consisted of raw meat that they devoured with the ferociousness of a swarm of piranhas.
Oddly, Sullivan had never actually named the nightmares, despite how much he seemed to love to spoil them, sneaking out daily to also feed them sugar cubes, or being a bit more bolder than you and feeding them raw steaks out of his hand.
So, you decided to name the four after the Mares of Diomedes in the Greek myth, seeing how both were flesh-eating horses. Podargos (the swift), Lampon (the shining), Xanthos (the yellow) and Deinos (the terrible). Podargos and Lampon were the two that were the most behaved and easy-mannered of the four mares, nickering softly whenever you approached and having no qualms if you didn’t have a treat or not. They would lower their muzzle and allow you to pet them anytime.
Xanthos was a bit more shy, usually hanging back whether in her stall or out in the fields until you bribed her. She'd trot close, hesitant as she munched her treat and allow you a few moments of touching her soft nose before snorting and trotting away.
Deinos was an ass, and also the leader of the herd. She’d push her way to the front of the fence if the others had reached you first, not afraid of nipping and stomping her hooves to get her way. And may whatever deities that resided over the Netherworld help you if you didn’t have a treat for her, because she would happily bite your fingers off and much on them otherwise (Or so Opera said, and you still couldn’t tell if they were joking or not.)

Iruma~ can you be a good boy and clean the bathroom?
Iruma! Do you think you can be a good boy and put away these heavy boxes?
Iruma
we’re really low on money, and the rich people want a bear skin rug, do you think you can be a dear, and fight it for us?
Iruma, we dont have money for bait, can you be a good boy and

Iruma

Iruma

Iruma, you know you need to come back to us, don’t be a bad boy! What happened to you? You were such a good boy, and now your greedy and spoiled! You know he doesnt really care about you. But we do! Thats why we had you do all of this! Come home! Be a good boy and come home!
———————————
Shivering, a cold feeling runs up iruma’s spine, and he opens his eyes ten minutes before his hellraiser clock started screaming at the room. He stares at the blanket around his shoulders and just breathes. Deep breathes. Dee–
SCREEEEEAACH, SCREEEEEEAACH, SCREEE–
“Good morning my dear grandson! How did you sleep? What did you dream about! I hope it made you happy!” The questions rattled off in iruma’s head, words bouncing around in his skull until they break into each letter, sporadically slamming into his skull until they realised they needed to be understood.
Iruma blinks, then answers “G-good morning grandpa, i slept great! But i think running around in my dreams made me really hungry, i have no idea how that happened.” Iruma scratched the back of his neck, knowing it was obvious he was trying to change the subject .
But still, Sullivan was merciful. “I think its a good thing Opera made more breakfast than usual this morning! But how about we get you dressed first?” Sullivan said the middle part a little louder than nessecary, and now wants to stall time for his cat butler, iruma concludes. Ah, poor Opera.
“Okay grandpa? I havent had help getting dressed before.” The boy is nervous, mostly because he remembers having injuries on his chest and stomach, he doesn’t even know what his back looks like.
His dream rings in his ears again, and before he can actually spiral into the depths of disaster, the egg version of his grand father comes from the abyss and says, “I think this could suit you perfectly today! Will you wear it iruma?” Its a simple t shirt and shorts, but iruma needs to go to school.
A laugh escapes the boy, then the reply “Grandpa, that’s not a uniform, and i need to stay in dress code for school! What would professor Kalego think?”
“Well, i could give you special permission to wear whatever you like! You could even go to school with nothing on!” The disgusted looks of his classmates and teachers flashed through his head as he imagined that senario.
“nothanksgrandpa
” iruma managed to stutter out, he avoided the dream, now he needs to avoid this. “Alright, lets get you into a proper uniform then!” The old egg dashed to the closet, excitedly rummaging through the identical uniforms to find the cutest one.
Iruma sighed, hoping the ‘grand reveal’ would go well. He unbottoned his shirt and pulled it away from his shoulders, waiting for the older demon to turn around.
“OOH! I think this would be LOVELY for your smile!” He spins and glances at iruma’s frame then back to the uniform
then looks at iruma’s chest, the uniform, his chest, and just sets the outfit to the side.
“Iruma, are you in pain?” That catches the boy off guard, he thought at best, Sullivan would cry for him and call him his baby, at worse, Sullivan would be disgusted and throw him to the human world. “Uh, no, not anymore. Most of these happened when i was really young anyway.” Sullivan crooked and eyebrow, “Most? If you feel comfortable, can you tell me about the ones you do remember?”
“Sure, uh
” iruma didnt know where to start, he looked at his arm and saw a pair of jagged marks, “Oh! This is from a wolf fish that was caught in a lobster trap, it had a lot of teeth
and this is when i was running from the mafia, i dont think i was able to take out that bullet
” and so it went. Iruma said where some scars came from, and others, he just said “i cant remember.”
There was one scar in particular, that looked recent, but mostly healed over. It was one, long, slightly tilted scar over Iruma’s spine, it covered over older, smaller scars and started from the base of his neck to mid-back. “And do you know where this one came from?” Sullivan inqurires to the boy, fearing someone was responsible.
Iruma reached around himself, and Sullivan saw two things

One, he saw teethmarks on the boy’s waist, too dull to be demon, so a human bit him?
Two, he’s sure he saw something move inside of the wound. It was an instant, and he was distracted by the tooth marks, which he will be bringing up soon. “Oh yeah, i was taking out trash in a resteraunt, and a can that was open slashed my back. I guess i shouldve checked if any had their lids out.”
Sullivan didn’t know how to respond, so he took his finger and traced the outside of the bite, unintentionally tickeling the child and making him jolt away from the hand, laughing. Until he realised where Sullivan touched.
“Where-“ “i cant remember.” Iruma stared the demon in the eye, with a burning passion Sullivan had only seen in him and when training with Opera. Sullivan let it go -for now- and helped the young human into his uniform.
Opera laid down the last tray and stepped away from the tabe just as the two of them came into the room. A feast fit for three kings sat in front of the boy, steaming, frozen, or even boiled to perfection.
“Good morning Master Iruma, how was your rest?” The cat-like servant was glad they made things that were quick to serve for the extra food.
After Iruma left with Clara and Azz, Sullivan pulled Opera into his side and declaired to the feline, “Iruma needs love, make sure you give him the attention a child needs.”
“Yes Master Sullivan.” Opera was just as confused as when Sullivan brought Iruma home. They love the young master, he eats the food they make, keeps his room clean, is always polite, and never was there a problem with ill words.
“Just be sure to remind him that he’s safe with us.” That raised a flag in Opera’s head, something must’ve happened when Sullivan was alone with the boy.
Whatever it is, they hope Iruma will be well.
