Chapter 2
Part 3
The weekend went by very quickly. Since Edwart last reported to Professor Fig. He has left to speak with the ministry about George Osric's death, personally.
Natsai Onai, a classmate Edwart started to admire after he lost the Summoner's Court And she didn't belittle him; she just showed him compassion he so desperately needed but never asked. She wanted to speak privately about Rookwood and Harlow but he couldn't reveal anything she probably had hoped for.
Edwart spent the remaining time of the weekend actually resting but also studying and getting to know the Scottish Highlands. Before he knew it was a Monday morning starting with Herbology.
âAh! Hello!â Professor Garlick said brightly âClass please welcome the newest rose in our garden- Edwart Thompson. We do look forward to growing together. Please take a stance next to Sebastianâ
Sebastian waved with a smile as Edwart took his place beside him, but he tried to avoid Sebastian's gaze.
âHow thrilling it is to have everyone back together again!âProfessor Garlick started her enthusiastic speech. âThis year will be filled with enchantment and excitement, but the most important thing cultivated in Herbology is knowledge.
The prudent Herbologist is no more afraid of the Venomous Tentacula than the Bouncing Bulb. Now, then. Today we will be acquainting ourselves with the mellifluous tuber known as the Mandrake Rootâ
âKnow it?â Sebastian suddenly spoke, which took Edwart off guard.
âUhm. No actually.âEdwart spoke unfocused, trying to listen to Professor Garlickâs instruction.
âLet's see if we can make our fibrous friends a bit more comfortable, shall we?â Professor Garlic continued.
âFirst, let's protect our ears. Then, everyone grips their Mandrake by the tendrils and gives it a firm tug:â
Edwart did as he was instructed, but when he pulled the Mandrake, he noticed his, was much bigger than other students. His Mandrake scream was unbearable so much so that the Greenhouse's roof cracked inaudible throughout all of the screaming. Another problem was he couldn't hear Professor Garlick, so he just mimicked other students replanting their Mandrakes. When Edwart looked around noticed everybody was done with their plants.
He saw Professor Garlick's mouth movement but he couldn't make out her words. Then he felt a hand on his shoulder and saw Sebastian say something to him, he couldn't hear.

âSomethingâs not right,â Sebastian said to himself realising that Edwart could not hear him. After Professor Garlick finished speaking she casted Repero and came over to Sebastian and Edwart to apologise.âI'm very sorry about that. Yours was a bit mature, I'm afraid.â
âProfessorâ Sebastian started carefully âIâm afraid Edwart suffered some sort of hearing damage from the mature Mandrake.â
âOh dear! That is concerning indeed.â Professor Garlick seemed a little ashamed âBut he should be regaining his hearing in minutes, thankfully he did cover his ears otherwise he would have fainted.â
Sebastian looked at Edwart who had closed his eyes as if he was hurt.
âStay with him a minute would you Sebastian dear? If he doesn't regain his hearing soon you must take him to Nurse Blainey. For now, just show him how to plant dittany seeds. I heard he did get them from Magic Neep.â
âHe did Professor. I was there.â Sebastian replied
âWonderfully. Please assist him with Dittany as I tend to other students.â With that, she left towards some other students.
Sebastian groaned a bit.
âEdwart.â He said loudly but in a way, other students weren't disturbed.âCan you hear me?â
Edwart took out a small notebook and a writing tool, which Sebastian had never seen before and started scribing in it âHow convenientâ Sebastian thought.
He handed it to Sebastian with a grimace and it was written:
âI hear voices but I can't make out the meaning of it all.â
then Edwart suddenly took the notebook back and added:
âI think it's starting to fade but my head hurts, ughâ
Sebastian wrote back on the notebookâs page:
âWhy are you writing when you are, able to speak?â
He gave it back to Edwart with a grin.
Edwart read it and spoke quietly with a scoff.
âI know I can speak but I don't want to until my hearing fully comes back. It's weird not to⊠Oh wait⊠Okay, I think I'm alright now.â
Sebastian chuckled.
âWell, that was quick. And what is that small thing?â He pointed to it.
âOh this? It's called a pencil. I brought it with me from London. We do use feathers but this is way more comfortable.â Edwart took a deep breath and continued with a scowl. âThose damn mandrakes! I'll say I nearly went deafâŠâ
âWell. yes. Of course. the cry of a mature Mandragora can be fatal.â Professor Garlick said with a bit of a glee behind Edwart âSo remember to keep those ears protected. I am glad you are feeling better now.â
âYes, Professor,â Edwart said with fake politeness.
âWell done with your Mandrake. They can be rather difficult to get a grasp of. Now since that little incident is behind us. Go ahead, you can start planting Dittany seeds now. Sebastian will assist youâ She beamed and circled other students again.
Edwart looked at the professor and then focused his attention on Sebastian who was grinning.
âWhat?â Edwart asked flatly.
âThoughts?â Sebastian answered with a question âI can see you have something to say.â
âSheâs an...â Edwart hesitated âInteresting teacher that's for sure.â
Sebastian laughed âLook at you giving her all your Hufflepuff kindness you can possess.â
Edwart rolled his eyes but before he could answer someone interrupted them again.
âI should think Professor Garlick would be more careful with her Mandrakes.â a calm collected voice sounded behind Sebastian and Edwart.
Edwart made a confused face which made Sebastian hold his laughter.
âAh yes! You havenât met yet. Edwart. Let me introduce you to my long-time, great friend, Ominis Gaunt.â Sebastian moved his hand onto Ominis's shoulder. âOminis this is Edwart Thompson, the fifth year you have probably seen around already.â
âNot likely,â Ominis said flatly with a half grimace, half grin. He turned his head towards Sebastian.
âOops. Sorry, forgot.â Sebastian said with a smile. He was not sorry it was a swift way to inform the new student that Ominis was blind in the most graceful way he couldâve done âOminis is blind. Best to say it now so there is no misunderstanding later.â
âAh. Okay.â Edwart cleared his throat âNice to meet you Ominis. I would shake your hand for being able to suffer with this fool for all those years I presume.â
Ominis chuckled a bit âIndeed we have known each other since first year. Iâm usually the person who gets him out of trouble too like that library incident on Saturday⊠again.â
Sebastian smiled a little proudly while Edwart looked down at the floor taking a deep breath. âIâve never got to thank you for what youâve done in the library. I canât get in trouble like that. Thank you.â Edwart scowled.
âOf course.â Sebastian grinned proudly âand don't worry. I avoided trouble, as usual. Thanks to this one.â
Ominis spoke again âHe didn't even have to tell me anything. I already knew everything so this time he won't face any punishment.â Edwart seemed to have exhaled with relief âBut I do hope it's the last time⊠Madam Scribner was furious.â Ominis furrowed his eyebrows forward where Sebastian stood.
âYes, I understand, no more getting me out of trouble by your family's name. I am aware and I apologise.â
âI'm confused.â Edwart asked cautiously "Why are second names so important here?â.
âOh! That's because-â
âBoys! How's the planting going along?â Professor Garlickâs sweet voice cut in again. âI may have to interrupt. I have another assignment for you, Eddie dear. Come with me.-â
Edwart stopped in the track âIt's Edwart, Professor. I would appreciate it if you'd use my correct name.â
Professor Garlick nodded with a bit of embarrassment and started explaining his assignment.
âUuuh! Cold!â Sebastian thought and smiled at Ominis not that he could see it. "What do you think of the new student?â
âDittany's restorative properties make it a vital ingredient in the Wiggenweld Potion, as you all should know from Professor Sharp's class.â Professor Garlick was speaking in the background
Ominis took a minute to think of an answer âI think me and Edwart will come to an understanding. He seems interesting, that's for sure.â
âLovely. But there is something about him though when I asked him about his origins he nearly bit my head off. He has got some secrets he promised to share so I guess time will tell.â
âHmm.â Ominis didn't say anything more.
âWell, that's all for today.â Garlick's voice sounded through chatter âClass dismissed dears.â

Why NPCâs lines outside quests donât tell us anything about them
*with rare exceptions
Here we have Duncan saying he'd like to get rid of Muggle-borns like Garlick. And, surprise, then we have Hector Fawley (future Minister for Magic, btw) saying exactly the same line in the same voice.
The subtitles are hard to read, so I duplicated them with text under pictures.
Duncan and Hector: "If only Black had the power to choose the other professors too. Then we could get rid of Muggle-born like Garlick."
Or here Duncan rants about disgusting Mudbloods ruining the school. But look at this adorable Hufflepuff repeating the same word for word.
Duncan and a random Hufflepuff student: "Itâs about time Hogwarts put someone like Black in charge. Perhaps now we can stop all these disgusting Mudbloods from ruining the school."
Suddenly, Duncan forgets his own words and says he will miss Professor Garlick or recommends that Garreth ask her for advice.
Duncan: "I canât wait until Iâm a sixth-year - then I wonât have to waste my time with Herbology anymore. Iâll miss Professor Garlick, mind." Duncan: "I wouldnât bother yourself about that. If I were you, Iâd be more inclined to acquire myself some Bubotuber pus. Iâm sure Garlick could point you in the right direction."
Garreth seems to have difficulties with making up his mind, too.
Garreth: "Have you been in any other common rooms? I'd love to know what it's like to be in another house - just for a day." Also Garreth: "Even if I knew how to get into the other common rooms, I wouldn't bother. There's a reason I was sorted into my house."
This does sound like Garreth. Until you hear the same from half of Hogwarts lots.
Garreth and a random Gryffindor student: "Sometimes I wish someone would Transfigure me into a squirrel. Then I wouldn't have to worry about doing schoolwork anymore."
The same goes for Leander. Btw, hello Mousey @sparxyv!
Leander: "You think Garreth Weasley would be better at Transfiguration considering his aunt teaches the thing."
I see sometimes people think Leander is a bully because he says some mean lines like the one when he's bragging about a knee-reversal hex he tried on a small Hufflepuff. But it's NOT his lines. It's just the lines that belong to everyone, which means they belong to no one.
I even made a video based on Ominis's lines like this.
Ominis: "Well, my father naturally assumed I'd be a strong Seeker, just like him. I say, thank Merlin Quidditch was cancelled." Ominis: "I met some of my best friends in Flying. Nothing creates a bond like thinking you're all about to die." Ominis: "My friends and I like to spend our evenings watching the sunset from the Quidditch pitch."
Btw maybe Quidditch Champions devs took it too seriously đ I agree with the point that Ominis technically can play Quidditch: there are, without a doubt, disabled athletes in the world, and if thereâs a wand, that helps him to see why not imagine a broom like this? Still, given his personality, I believe that Ominis appeared in that game just to gather more money from fans, and he's just as a quidditch player, as Seb's patronus is a cat. Because, seriously, Ominis? Saying that, "Nothing creates a bond like thinking you're all about to die." Haha!
From what I can see, random student dialogues exist only to fill the silence with background noise and create the illusion of life, but they can't tell us anything about the characters.
*HOWEVER, this does not apply to situations where NPCs say something to MC, rather than during dialogues with random students.
For example, Ominisâs lines like, âHeard you're defending Hogsmeade against trolls. You know there is such a thing as trying too hard." or âHeard you and Sebastian traversed a mountain in Loyalist territory. You know, that sort of thing could have gotten you both killed.â really belong to our gossip king Ominis.
Or when MC walks past Amit near Hogshead before talking to Lodgok for the first time, Amit shouts greetings to MC. Those are the lines that really were intended for those NPCs.
#I'm glad no one minds the creepy stalker in the background#yeah the pics are old btw#I took them at the same time when I did the video with Ominis#hogwarts legacy#duncan hobhouse#garreth weasley#leander prewett#ominis gaunt

Imagine a zombie apocalypse where all Wizarding World characters start with the same amount of food, shelter and weapons.
- No magic
Who would survive the longest?
In my humble opinion,
Naturally, Lucius Malfoy, Phineas Nigellus Black, Gilderoy Lockhart, etc would be dead within a day. ïżŒ
Sorrows, sorrows prayers
Sirius Black would probably go insane. There is an equal chance of him dying and living.
Snape would last a while because heâd know which berries and fungi are safe to eat and at least he wouldnât starve to death. I donât see what his weakness would be. (Stamina?)
Harry would probably die saving someone, letâs be honest. Or itâd be a Carl Grimes situation where heâd try to help someone out of the goodness of his heart and end up bit.
But now that I think of it, he would probably be immune to the virus beca heâs the chosen one.
Hermione would not believe that zombies are as dangerous as they say and wouldnât listen to anyone before seeing it for herself, eventually leading to her ending up dead, or worse expelled.
I think Tom Riddle/Voldemort would have a solid chance because he would make a wonderful leader of a group but doesnât mind throwing others under the bus to survive.
As seen in the movies Narcissa Malfoy knows exactly when to change sides and has great self preservation skills. And she does it all for her baby which leads me to Draco.
Draco would survive for a while, not because he is competent enough to survive, but because heâs in the group with mommy and uncle Voldy.
Speaking of Tom/Voldemort throwing people under the bus, Bellatrix would be the first under said bus, in a poorly thought out and futile attempt to prove herself to Voldymort.
Then thereâs this guy,
And he really reminded me of this guy(iykyk),
Maybe Sebastian is a bit less psychopathic and deranged, but heâs getting there, and I think that seeing his freshly kedavraâd uncle get up and eat his sister might do the trick.
Iâll say heâd probably last years.
Speaking of Hogwarts Legacy characters Professor Garlick as well as Ominis Gaunt are immune. Same goes for Luna Lovegood and Newt Scamander
Why?
Because I love them and because I said so. They arenât dying
Alright Iâve been yapping for way too long, let me know what you think about this concept.

Hii I just thought of this so no plan just fun, what are the professor's reactions to meeting MC for the first time and seeing a dog with them, somehow by some (alot) of luck survived the dragon attack and the first goblin attack in the bank.
Low key just an excuse to show off my brat girl who gets anxious like me so she's my best friend and I couldn't imagine going away for school from her lol
A/N: you have such a pretty doggo â€ïž I think I'll base her off of D&D familiars
HL PROFESSORS REACT TO MC'S FAMILIAR
The dog that followed MC around everywhere they went was more than just an ordinary pet, she's MC's familiar. This means she's sentient with human-like intelligence (and stubbornness), she could disappear and reappear on command (or at will), they had a special telepathic connection, they could sense each other's emotional state, and MC could see through her eyes at will.
ELEAZAR FIG: He loves her! He bent over backwards convincing the headmaster and deputy headmistress to allow MC to have their familiar around school. He also talks to her as if she'd talk back to him, even though she is strictly connected to MC.
MATILDA WEASLEY: She's very unsure. Familiars are beasts not of this world and can be unpredictable. She's only convinced by Fig getting MC to swear that their familiar will disappear during classes and not to tell anyone else what the dog really is. Now, if they cause trouble of any kind, MC is on thin ice.
CHIYO KOGAWA: She's a little surprised a dog was allowed at Hogwarts, but she doesn't care much. Thinks the dog's cute.
AESOP SHARP: He doesn't allow any pets in his classroom for obvious reasons, but if he sees the dog while out and about, he'll toss her a dried piece of toad meat. He had a dog once upon a time, so he's a bit nostalgic.
ABRAHAM RONEN: He losses his mind every time he sees her. Willing to break the "no dog in class" rule. He must love on and pet her every chance he gets. He showers her with presents; from treats to toys to hats.
MIRABEL GARLICK: She's allergic to dogs. Not too much, but her eyes water when MC's dog is near. She still gives her a pat. Every dog deserves pets.
MUDIWA ONAI: She knew what MC's dog was as soon as she saw her. She gives MC special crystals and herbs. "For meditation. Bonding with your 'dog' is very important, and these will help." She winks.
BAI HOWIN: Dogs are a fairly rare sight in the wizarding world, something is off but she can't quite put her finger on it. She's suspicious of the dog's true nature.
DINAH HECAT: She's glad to see more than just cats running around Hogwarts. Makes the day more interesting. She gives the dog a little pat when she sees her.
CUTHBERT BINNS: Doesn't even notice the dog's existence. Just keeps doing his thing.
SATYAVATI SHAH: She appreciates how well behaved the dog is. She never sees it chasing any of the school cats. Doesn't pay her any mind otherwise.
PHINEAS NIGELLUS BLACK: He's not a dog person. They're smelly, dirty, loud and obnoxiously needy. He was only convinced by Fig convincing him that the dog was necessary for MC's emotional well-being and denying them the dog "would look bad".

An Unbeleafable day
Ominis x MC
Summary - Ominis' day goes from bad to worse after realising his worst subjects are occupied by a certain new fifth year
Warnings - Mentions of Ominis past and Evelyns past (Her mother has passed) other than that just another PINEFEST!
Word Count - 4039
~
Are you being serious?
HerbologyâŠfollowed directly by Potions.
This had to be some sort of sick joke.
Ominis groaned, pushing the tip of his wand into the parchment his schedule was written on, harder than needed, hoping somehow his wand had misinterpreted itâŠor that he could change it with sheer will.
âIt wonât be that badâ Sebastian offered pulling his robe off haphazardly upon entering the thick humid environment of the Greenhouses.
Sebastiansâ interest in Herbology and Potions directly correlated with Annesâ curse. The fairer Sallow was always the one interested in PotionsâŠand the red headed trouble maker that came along with it. But since her absence, Sebastian took over, both to make notes for her and to see if perhaps there was something heâd overlooked in search for a cure.
So far nothing but Shrivel-figs had peaked his interested.
Ominis on the other hand, hated both.
No one but Sebastian seemed to understand these subjects were difficult for those not gifted with sight. How was he expected to know if the leaves of a Venomous Tentacula were wilting if he couldnât see them? And feeling them was out of the question. He refused to lose yet another sense because his fingers were bitten off by a plant.
Last year, the cursed subjects occupied two separate days so at least his torment was spread thin. But maybe this way he could get both out of the way for the week? Who knows. All he did know was the heady smell of soil and thick atmosphere immediately gave him a headache, and a deep frown set upon his features.
âIt will be exactly as bad as I am imagining itâ Ominis grumbled leaning against Sebastiansâ station as they chatted idly waiting for the Professor to start the class.
Professor Garlick was busy fussing around the room before class, speaking with the various students whose aptitude for the subject was clear. Ominis could hear her talking across the room to a group of students, giddily chirping about extra credit and the different types of flora available to them in their later school years. He surmised that the Professor was showing off these plants because the sudden overwhelming stench of onion hit his nostrils.
âWhatâs that smell? Is she growing Pungous Onion again?â He complained yet again as the strong odour made his head throb and his stomach churn. Too many noises and too many smells overwhelmed him. He felt a thin sheen of sweat across the back of his neck and he too threw his robes across the station. He heard Sebastian chuckle causing his frown to deepen further.
"It's really not that bad, Ominis." He chuckled and took the schedule from Ominisâ fist "Then again, if this means I have to listen to you whine the whole day, it will be rather awful."
âI whine everydayâŠI thought youâd be used to it by nowâ Ominis smirkedâŠ
ThenâŠthe air in the greenhouse suddenly cleared. And all Ominis could smell was Roses.
He thought perhaps this added note in the orchestra of goings on would tip him over the edgeâŠbut he found itâŠgrounding. Sweet and Subtle. Floral and soft.
This same Rose was the one he thought he could smell in the Common Room on their first day back. The Rose that hung around the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom and brushed past him in the corridors.
And the same Rose that followed him around Hogsmeade. The very same floral scent that clung somewhat to his robes where she held his arm. When he was there with Evelyn
She was his rose.
No!
The Rose. Not his.
Ominis shook his head clearing his mind of the trajectory his mind had spiralled. And so quickly at that. He felt his face flush and he prayed either Sebastian wouldnât notice or heâd chalk it up to the humidity in the room.
Though what Ominis hadnât noticed was the wistful way in which he sought her out. His eyes seemingly trying to seek her without his knowledge or the ability. A soft almost dreamlike smile settled on his upturned lips
âI thought you said today was going to be awful?â Sebastian said smugly from behind Ominis. âHow about you take my station today? Iâm feeling a little exposed out here in the openâŠâ he teased taking a few steps back and occupying the space Ominis usually sulked in.
âWhy have yo-â Ominis started before being interrupted by the irritatingly shrill voice of Professor Garlick.
âClass, please welcome the newest Rose in our garden, Evelyn Hollowâ
Ha, if only you knew.
Ominis couldnât stop the singular breathy laugh that left him as he exhaled.
âWe do look forward to growing togetherâ Garlick chirped and gestured forward for Evelyn to take up the free stationâŠnext to Ominis.
âHello again, strangerâ Evelyn said in a hushed tone somewhere below Ominis, not to disturb the little pun filled speech the Professor had started.
âAh, if it isnât the Hero of Hogsmeadeâ Ominis smirked, lifting his wand from the table to see her, the best he could.
Why do I want to see her?
âYou knowâŠâ he continued desperate to not linger on his thoughts for too long ââŠthere is such a thing as trying too hardâ
âItâs not my fault Iâm naturally talented at dispatching trollsâ she teased right back, and stayed within inches of him, peaking out past his arm towards the Professor.
âNow, then. Today we will be acquainting ourselves with the mellifluous tuber known as the Mandrake Rootâ
Oh WonderfulâŠ
Ominis must have stiffened quite visibly because Evelyn reached her hand around his arm and squeezed. He peered down at her and smiled lopsidedly.
âWhatâs wrong?â She whispered as Garlick continued to explain the lesson plan.
âNothingâŠâ he started before turning away to peer towards the pot that had plonked itself in front of them. He could hear the muffled cooing of the mandrake happy within its soil, and the angry irritated squirming of the one in front of Evelyn. âThey scream bloody murder when theyâre out of the soilâ he explained ââŠcan kill you if theyâre old enough. Or worse, deafen youâ
Looking into his pale, almost grey eyes she understood his sudden fear. Not being able to see must be one thing but suddenly losing your hearing must be another.
ââŠFirst, letâs protect our earsâ Garlick continued. Evelyn watched as everyone pushed the small wad of cotton into their ears. Ominis too, though he looked distinctly uncomfortable.
Without really thinking, she reached out for his hand and squeezed before he placed the second cotton ball in his ear.
âIâm hereâŠâ she smiled. Though he couldnât see it, her heard it in the way her voice softened. He squeezed her hand backâŠit was, again, oddly grounding.
âThank youâ
When Evelyn pulled her bulbous mandrake from its pot she instantly released his hand and clutched her ear.
Bloody hell, he wasnât wrong.
She quickly threw it into the larger pot provided. Though it was bigger than its original pot, it still didnât seem like it would have much room to grow. It was huge in comparison to the others, she noted as she looked around, absentmindedly patting the soil over the top of her plant baby.
Only a single mandrake remained screaming and it came directly from her right.
She looked over at Ominis, his face twisted into anger and disgust. He couldnât help but snarl, his wand between his teeth and head tilted so it was pointed towards the mandrake. He struggled to hold the wriggling and screaming Root whilst his other hand patted and fumbled for the new pot.
Evelyn pushed it towards his hand, looping her fingers around his wrist and helping him guide the crying creature into its new home.
The moment itâs âfeetâ touched the soil it ceased its whining and crying and began humming in their hands, content.
âThank youâ Ominis murmured, barely hearing himself over the cottonâŠand ringing in his ears.
âMy pleasure. Anything to stop that god awful soundâ she breathed, her heart hammering against her ribs.
âIâm sorry.â He said through his teeth, his wand still firmly between his lips. He spat it out and held it as normal, vaguely pointing it in her direction âUsually Iâm quite dexterous on my own, all things consideredâŠâ he chuckled ââŠbut with no eyesight, no hearing, my wand not exactly in its correct positioning and both hands full-â
âYou donât need to explain.â She said irritatingly âSeems rather unfair to make you do these sorts of tasksâ
âWellâŠI donât want special treatmentâŠButâŠâ he smirked âI should think Professor Garlick would be more careful with her mandrakes. Yours was positively itching to get out of that potâ
âIt was rather large wasnât it?â Evelyn said in disbelief. The new student and the blind student given earmuffs and the largest mandrake? Just doesnât seem very well thought out.
âIâm very sorry about thatâ Professor Garlick suddenly appeared between the two âYours was a bit mature, Iâm afraid.â
âA bit mature? I nearly went deafâ Evelyn muttered
Huh, this rose has thorns.
âWell, yes of course, the cry of a mature mandragora can be fatal. So remember to keep those ears protectedâ she chirped as though she had revealed an interesting little tidbit about a regular muggle plant. She trilled softly and turned to the rest of the class
âNow, for our next task, weâll be planting Dittany at our potting tablesâ she skipped off around to the other side of the room leaving Evelyn staring in disbelief âI trust you all remember how from last yearâ
Evelynâs jaw dropped then clenched in annoyance. She didnât even know she was a witch last year. She didnât even know witches existed last year.
âIâll help youâŠâ Ominis said reassuringly upon feeling the sudden wave of irritation next to him ââŠOr well, more accurately, weâll help each otherâ Ominis smiled at the potting station but the tilt of his head indicated it was directed at her.
âThank youâŠthis lesson is a bit ridiculousâ Evelyn huffed and he laughed. The beginning of the lesson he had the exact same attitude, now he found himself defending it. What changed?
âProfessor Garlick can be a littleâŠlaissez-faire. She means well butâŠyes sheâs very enthusiasticâ he chuckled âAnyway, itâs simple enough. Dittany requires a small pot and the seed to be planted an inch into dry soil.â
âYou know your stuff it seemsâ
âIn theoryâŠnot very practical Iâm afraid. Which is where you come in.â He said with a smarmy grin on his face.
âAhâŠyouâre using me for my eyes. I seeâŠno pun intendedâ
âYou do seeâŠâ he smirked âMy problem is I canât tell if Iâm planting more than an inch inâŠâ he peered into the pot as though he could see it, sticking his long finger into the dry soil.
âNo no, too farâ she giggled watching him pull his finger out and wiping the dirt from his finger with disgust.
Her eyes travelled over his long nimble fingers as he felt the consistency and dampness of the soil between them. Her gaze was drawn up his forearm by the flexing of the tendons in his wrist and the faint blue veins along his pale skin. A small constellation of moles peaked out from the rolls of his sleeve, along side the beginnings of what appeared to be a nasty looking scar. She forcibly peeled her eyes away.
Just because heâs blind doesnât mean you can stare
âHereâŠâ she forced out, blinking away thoughts of him. She took his hand, flattening out his fingers and traced from his fingertip down to the first joint of his finger ââŠThatâs roughly an inch. There.â She tapped the inch mark a few times and looked up at him.
The sickly look on his features made her drop his hand immediately. He look strangled, almost in pain.
âSorryâŠI forgot you donât like people being near you. I shouldâve asked Iâm-â
âNo no! YouâŠyouâre- I. I mean youâŠâ he sighed angrily through his nose âI donât mindâŠyou touching meâ he said pointedly. His words were soft but his tone suggested otherwise.
In actual fact, Ominis was just furious with himself.
Why canât I get a word out?
Why is it Iâm quick witted and silver tongued when it doesnât matter?
Why do I care?
Evelyn simply retreated within herself. Maybe staring was better. Maybe living alone, a simple muggle life, was better than this twisting knot of uncertainty.
It did feel nice to feel like a teenager again though.
After her motherâs passing, Evelyn spent a year of her life alone. A fourteen year old forced to grow up beyond her years. So this petty little feeling of giddiness was welcome.
She looked back up at him and his stoic features. Theyâd softened exponentially, in fact he was smiling, feeling along his finger to the same point she had with his thumb.
As she opened her mouth to speak, to apologise, to fill the silence withâŠsomething, a shrill voice called out to her.
âAh EvelynâŠâ Professor Garlick chirped and waved her hand for Evelyn to approach the front of the classroom. A tall scarlet haired boy stood sheepishly next to her, a shy smile on his face.
Evelyn looked back at Ominis, a faraway dazed look accompanied the soft smile still present on his face. Heâs clearly focused, she thought deciding to give him the space that she had selfishly taken from him and walked to the front.
âWell Done!â Professor Garlick clapped happily as Evelyn approached. âOnce it can be harvested, your Dittany will be ready to use in Wiggenweld Potion. Iâll let Professor Sharp tell you about that. Your next class is Potions, is it not?â Her eyes bulged as though sheâd made some grave error in judgement.
âErâŠYes Professorâ
âAh good. And you Mr Prewett? Can I trust you to show our new Rose how well Herbology and Potions go together?â
âActually, I donât have Potions next.â The Red head replied, his weary smile faltering under the Professors glare.
âOhâŠâ Garlick looks confusedly towards Leander âThen why did you- never mind!⊠What say we branch out? Introduce you to a different sort of flora - The Chinese Chomping Cabbage. Youâll find that some plants are better suited to uses outside of a cauldronâ
âLike de-gnoming! Mum planted some in her garden last year to keep the gnomes out. They left her Honking Daffodils in tattersâ he blurted out towards Evelyn, who smiled politely back.
This was quickly becoming her least favourite subject.
It was manicâŠand so were the students. And the ProfessorâŠ
âYes quite! Theyâre in the other greenhouse. Itâs just at the end of the footbridge leading out of this room. Be a dear and give them a good chomping!â Garlick nodded towards the Gryffindor who grinned back.
Glad someone knows whatâs going on.
âYour classmate, Mr Prewett, has kindly offered to accompany youâ
And with that, the Professor nodded as though sheâd successfully remembered a script, before bouncing away.
âHelloâŠâ The cheerful Gryffindor spoke up âSaw you on your way to Hogsmeade the other day. Nice to meet you, Iâm Leanderâ he extended his hand eagerly.
âEvelyn. Hollowâ she continued after a beat taking his hand and giving one firm shake.
âI knowâŠâ he said enthusiastically ââŠIâll be showing you the Cabbages just up here-â
âOh mind your fingers!â Professor Garlick yelled across the classroom as they took their first steps up ââŠthey do bite!â
The entire class turned to look in their direction, including a certain opal eyed boy who had previously been too transfixed with his work to notice her leaving. The way he gazed in her direction now made her stomach drop and then she felt a clammy hand wrap around her wrist.
âJust up hereâŠâ Leander repeated, tugging on her arm.
And that was the first time Ominis made eye contact with her. His eyes were focused solely on her, gaze turning cold and eyelids slammed low over his almost transparent irises. His jaw worked and clenched over and overâŠ
Then Leander pulled her away.
After she blinked away the harsh images of Ominis from her mind, her attention was drew back to Prewett, and the way his clammy hand wrapped around her forearm.
It feltâŠwrong. Tingly. In the worst way. Like she was aware of every divot and wrinkle on his hand.
When she shook him off, she felt her face harden and she wondered if she looked anywhere near as intimidating Ominis.
By the bob of Leanders throat, she guessed she did, snatching his hand away almost as quickly as heâd grabbed her in the first place.
âErâŠNice work in Defence Against the Dark Arts by the wayâ he tripped and stumbled over his words a little, trying to fill the silence much like she had.
âExcuse me?â She sighed, traces of her irritation still evident in her tone.
âYour duel with Sebastian!â Leander exclaimed excitedly ââŠand heâs goodâŠthinks heâs really good, but you outright slaughtered him. It was brilliantâ he sounded almost in awe, but Evelyn couldnât place who he was in awe of. His dream like tone suggested Sebastian but he gleefully grinned suggesting she had âslaughteredâ him.
It was an exaggeration to be sure. Sebastian gave as good as he got, and she was relatively certain he had held back.
She recoiled slightly. Thinking about every hit of Sebastianâs basic cast she took to her chest made her stomach churn. The unpleasant feeling of her lungs being forcibly emptied rose back to the forefront of her mind.
Her chest clenched at the thought of being on the receiving end of Sebastian wand, when he was unrestricted andâŠangry.
âOh wellâŠThank youâ Evelyn muttered not really knowing what else to say.
âI nearly put Sebastian in his place myselfâŠI mean I wouldâveâŠif Hecat hadnât stopped meâ
âDidnât she stop that dragon skull from crushing you?â Evelyn said, turning slightly towards him with cold unwavering confusion. She knew exactly what had happenedâŠSebastian was, in no way shape or form, in the process of being âput in his placeâ.
âPfft typical Slytherin trick dropping a dragon skull on someone during a fight. We Gryffindors fight with honourâ Leander kicked at a rock, staring a hole through the floor until he looked up.
And was met with the unimpressed glare of EvelynâŠ
Now she didnât know much about this worldâŠ
But what she did know is that the two people to assist her so farâŠwere both Slytherin. Whether that was because they were in the same house, she would never know. But it didnât matter.
Ominis had defended her in Hogsmeade, shown her around the school and been nothing but friendly despite what everyone around her seemed to say about him.
Sebastian earned himself another detention covering for her. A detention heâd only gotten from smuggling her into the Restricted Section in the first place.
Thank Merlin she had met Natty or Prewett wouldâve been her only reference for Gryffindor.
Arrogant and Boastful.
âUhâŠno offence Sorryâ he backpedaled, raising his arms in quick surrender.
Gryffindors are meant to be brave huh?
âAnd here I was thinking youâd deflected that spell quite brilliantlyâŠâ
âOh yesâŠwell I hadâ Leander boasted, puffing out his chest.
âSo you made that skull fall on yourself thenâŠâ Evelyn stated flatly, leaving no room for arguments. Sheâd backed him into a mental corner, one that she could see the red head struggling to escape from. A twisted little smirk pulled at her lipsâŠ
Maybe this is why Iâm a SlytherinâŠ
âErrrrâŠâ Leander muttered eyes darting around like he was looking for a physical exit out of the conversation.
âCome onâŠâ Evelyn turned on her heel, satisfied that sheâd made him squirm enough for his comments against her house. ââŠletâs get this over withâ
~
They feltâŠalmost numb.
Ominis ran his thumb along the finger Evelyn had demonstrated an inch on. He could stillâŠfeel her.
Her fingers met his and unlike every other time she had touched him, walking around Hogsmeade, brushing against him in the corridorâŠhe didnât flinch.
Not that she would ever notice. They were minute little twitches built in from years of watching where he was going and his family avoiding him like he was some sort of plague. Or that somehow his morals and blindness were infectious.
The chatter of the room fell on deaf ears, all he could hear was the muffled rush of blood and his heartbeat hammering in his ears.
Why did she affect him in such a way?
His fingertips were almost pulsing where she had been and now with her absense, it was all he had to remind him that it had actually happened.
He clung to the sensation as it slowly faded and he felt a presence approach him.
âWellâŠthings seem to be cultivating quite nicely over hereâ Sebastian smug tone rang behind him, washing away the last few memories of her touch from his mind.
It was only then did he realise she had gone. He fumbled for his wand, scanning broadly across the room but he couldnât pinpoint her. Too many people stood in huddled groups, the loud chatter in the room returning to him. So he couldnât even hear her.
He silently cursed himself for letting her go so easily.
âWhat does that mean?â Ominis snapped, his anger directed at himself not Sebastian.
âYou twoâ Sebastian said, leaning against the counter where Evelyn had stood âYou seemâŠcloseâ
Sebastian reached out to grab his finger, his hand still outstretched, frozen. He tugged it, chuckling to himself.
So heâd seen that. GreatâŠ
âYes she is quite affectionate. Touchy almostâŠâ
âAhâŠhow unfortunate for youâ Sebastian said flatly, almost sarcastically, as he watched Ominis shrug. He rubbed his fingers together where she had touched him again, without really thinking.
âI donât mind itâŠâ a soft smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
âOf course you donâtâ
âWell now what does that mean, Sebastian? Out with itâ It seemed as though everytime Ominis had a pleasant expression upon his face, Sebastian saw to it that he replace it with something else. Anger, annoyanceâŠjust something that made him frown. Though it was all in jest, Ominis was just thankful Sebastianâs mind was geared towards something else for a changeâŠand not his less than ideal home life.
Something about the last few weeks had perked Sebastian right up. Over the summer, Sebastian had spiralled. Seeing Anne daily and dealing with SolomonâŠit had gotten too much. Heâd retreated into himself massively and Ominis was beginning to worry heâd do something stupid.
âYou like herâŠâ Sebastian said matter of factly.
âOf course I like her. Sheâs lovely as Iâve said before. Sheâs a wonderful breath of fresh air compared to youâ Ominis smirked, relieved their playful banter had returned.
âNoâŠâ Sebastian chuckled ââŠI mean you like her. You fancy herâŠâ He cleared his throat and what left his lips next sounded pompous and haughty âYou wish to court herâŠâ
âDonât be ridiculous, Sebastianâ
Ominis was then almost deafened by the grating voice of Professor Garlick.
âOh mind your fingers!â She shrieked across the classroom ââŠthey do bite!â
âOh really?â Sebastian continued, turning Ominis in the direction of the staircase at the front of the class. âOkay good because Prewett seems quite determined to prune our new Rose for himselfâ
Ominis knew he was trying to bait him. And he hated that it worked. He felt himself stiffen and he aggressively shoved his wand towards the front.
No wonder he couldnât find her. It looked nothing like her.
The vague shape of Evelyn wasnât its usual open and inviting stance like with Sebastian and himself. Normally, she leaned slightly into them, so close Ominis could feel her warmth sometimes.
From what he could âseeâ nowâŠher shoulder were set, arms crossed, head held high. She was speaking to Leander, so she would need to crane her head up to butâŠthe way she held herself almost made it look as though she was annoyed.
What had he said? What had he done?
âHe really is a sly gitâ Sebastian interrupted Ominisâ investigation.
âWhatâs he doing?! I canât tellâŠâ Ominis muttered through his teeth.
âLooks like heâs dragging her awayâŠâ Sebastian heard Ominisâ teeth grind against each other and he turned towards his friend
âDonât worryâŠshe can look after herselfâ

word count: 7,000
warnings: slight mentions of blood, violence, child abuse
When they finally arrived in the hospital wing, Aesop was glad to finally have a place to set the injured girl. Heâs sure that to Matilda, Nurse Blainey, Fig and the others standing nearby they were a sight for sore eyes. His jacket wrapped around her wounded frame in a crude attempt to veil her modesty, the deep cut going down her face leaving her covered in her own blood, and his own aggravated limp very apparent as he carried her towards the closest available bed.Â
âHeavens! Is she even still alive, Aesop?â Professor Weasley asked, rushing to the bedside along with the school nurse looking down at the severely injured young woman. The unpleasant groan that left her lips as she was set down, causing everyone to cringe.
âYes she is. Someone will need to fetch Officer Singer.â he said, moving himself to sit on the bed next to her, the pain in his own leg suddenly becoming too much for him to bear.Â
âOfficer Singer? Why?â Professor Ronen said coming closer as the majority of the Hogwarts professors piled in after them. Sensing it would be a while before anyone would be able to treat Poppyâs small scrapes, Professor Garlick turned towards the hufflepuff saying âletâs get you all fixed up sweetheart, I imagine it will be a while before the nurse can see youâ, before steering Poppy to a bed at the far end of the ward.
âBecause she managed to take down Victor Rookwood. He is dead.â he explained with an exasperated sigh. Running a hand over his face, he tried not to let the frustration at the situation show. Knowing the world was now rid of such a horrible dark wizard was a good thing, but to know it took a student to do so, no less after being tortured nearly to death didnât sit right with him. He wonât lie, he was still extremely impressed that she had managed to fight him at all, given her condition, let alone successfully. Watching how she was able to repel the killing curse, using some form of magic heâd never seen to send the curse back into the man, thus bringing his reign of terror effectively to an end. The gasps that filled the room at the knowledge that she had won a duel against one of the most notorious criminals of their time, as a student with little experience within the magical world, confused many.Â
âMerlin⊠why did he take her?â Professor Hecat questioned coming closer to inspect the girl, who was now finally having Nurse Blainey tend to her wounds as the woman forced a potion down her throat.Â
âItâs a long story.â Sharp said, finally having caught his breath enough to stand again. He took one last look at the young woman, beaten like a rag doll but somehow still alive. Bending down he placed a hand on hers, squeezing it gently to let her know he was still there before moving back.Â
With that Nurse Blainey quickly drew curtains around her bedside, giving them some privacy as she removed the professor's jacket to see the damage inflicted on the young girl. Rushing around she asked the house elf she kept as an assistant to grab potions of various varieties in a hushed voice as she tended to her.Â
Y/n tried to keep her pained noises to a minimum, in order to listen in on what the others were saying. The first thing the matron had done when she arrived was force a potion to keep her alert, not knowing if she had a concussion and not wanting her to fall asleep if she did. From there she was stripped of the professor's jacket, along with the tattered camisole she wore, as the nurse brought forth a large bandage to quickly tend to the cuts along her chest before covering her breasts in case anyone came to look. Nurse Blainey, with the assistance of a house elf, helped raise her to sitting upright in order to assess the damage done to her back, as well as fasten the bandage around her so it would stay in place, before moving along to see the damage done to her face.
As the teachers discussed what had happened they almost didnât realize that young Anne Sallow had gotten up from her bedside, looking stronger than she had in over a year, until they heard someone ask âso she is alive?â from behind them.
They all quickly turned around, recognizing her as Professor Sharp looked back to the bed in the corner, seeing the sheets back, along with two seats occupied nearby her bed. He had expected Ominis Gaunt their friend, as well as Sebastian her brother, but when he realized her twin was absent and in the place he assumed the Slytherin would be, instead was her Uncle, his blood boiled over.Â
âYOU!â Never since the accident that cost him his job, his health and a majority of his happiness had Aesop Sharp moved so quickly. It wasnât but a few moments before he was standing directly in front of Solomon Sallow, his bloodied hands around the manâs shirt collar, pulling him from the chair. Sallowâs eyes barely came to his chin when resting but as he was aggressively pulled up by the ex Auror, Solomon was forced onto his toes.Â
âAesop!â Professor Weasley shouted behind him and as he neglected to care about the audience in which they had collected.Â
âI knew you were a vile piece of scum Sallow, but this, this is a new low even for youâ he yelled in the man's face as confusion filled the room. Aesop took to shaking the man's collar as he illustrated the point.
âAesop calm down! Release Mr. Sallowâ Professor Weasley continued to attempt to shout from behind him and he temporarily took a step back, dropping the man but keeping him close.Â
With the shouting and uproar, professor Ronen quietly encouraged Ominis to escort Anne out of the room, at least until they could discuss what had happened, and the blind boy obliged, taking Anne out of the ward. He was used to removing Anne at this rate from loud outbursts involving Solomon Sallow, only this time he was unsure the extent as to why a professor was angry with their uncleâŠÂ
âAesop, what is all this about?â Fig called out, attempting to alleviate the situation. He himself had witnessed the poor side of the man first hand, but was unsure the depth of how bad the situation they all found themselves in ran. The outburst called him to abandon the care of his protege who was quickly being patched up despite the large variety of flesh wounds she had sustained - the worst of which being the scar forming over her right eye - along with cuts on her back. The bloodied word carved into her skin, noticed by Nurse Blainey at the removal of the jacket, made the matron nauseous⊠it was evident the torture she had endured before sheâd been rescued.Â
âHe let poachers take her, and not once bothered to contact proper authorities. Not once did he try to help her. That girl would've died if we hadnât arrived a moment later than we did. He just stood by, let Feldcroft burn to the ground without protecting it. He knowingly would have let her die to cover his own ass.â Sharp shouted, angry that it was him who had to go rescue the girl, frustrated that someone he worked with would allow a girl to be hurt, that he was not bothered as to the state of the girl at all. It angered him even more to know that he did so to a woman with whom his own Nephew shared relations.Â
âWhat would you have him do Sharp? He was here with Anne-â Matilda started yet was interrupted by Poppy, finally having her small scrapes attended, she spoke in place of the angry professor.Â
âHe knew about the curse that afflicted Anne. He knew it was Rookwood. He didnât try and tell the authorities because he was being threatened.â she explained as loud gasps filled the room. Solomon Sallow looked down, having realized he had finally been made, for allowing the curse to afflict his niece for so long.Â
âMiss Sweeting you know the gravity of that accusation I presumeâ Professor Hecat explained as Poppy nodded.Â
Hearing the commotion, Nurse Blainey pulled back the curtains, finally showing that y/n was awake. She had been listening, only briefly mentioning to the girl that while most of her injuries were recoverable considering they were bruises or flesh wounds, that unfortunately most of her scars would remain. Other than rest and some pain relieving potions there wasnât much else she could do. With that she simply conjured a simple shirt to cover her before allowing her to rejoin their angered discussion.Â
She looked beaten to hell and back, but she would be okay. The nurse, having picked up on the conversation, walked over to her desk, retrieving the notebook discovered by Poppy and handing it to Professor Weasley.Â
âPoppy brought this from the camp when she initially brought Ms. Sallow. It is directly from Victor Rookwoodâs desk. I believe a few pages will be⊠illuminatingâŠâ Professor Weasley flipped through a few pages, finding detailed descriptions of the curse, as well as conversations mentioned between Solomon and Rookwood.
âThis is⊠troubling.â Matilda said, passing it off to Hecat who took a look.Â
âThat is not all⊠according to Miss. y/l/n -â Sharp started, wanting to recount what she had told him when he rescued her but he was cut off by a strangled voice in the corner.Â
âHe meant for it to be Sebastian.â The injured girl said, sitting at the edge of the bed, looking much more menacing now with the large scar across her face and the look of murder in her eye. Only revealed to her midst the argument by Nurse Blainey, that Rookwood laced the blade he used on her with something in order to leave behind scars, thus giving her a scabbed but healing wound that went from across the top of her eyebrow to near her nose, thankfully missing her actual eye, as well as some miscellaneous cuts along her chest and the word in which Victor had carved in her back. She had yet to see any of them herself, but as everyone looked at her, they felt her anger pointed directly to Solomon. The man shivered seeing the pure, and unaltered vexation she wore on her marred face.Â
She didnât stop there, against every part of her body screaming to stay down and finally rest, she found the strength to stand up, stalking her way over to her belovedâs guardian. As she yelled the best she could with her failing voice.Â
âYou knew Rookwood was going to curse one of the twins, and you agreed to let him do it, offering up Sebastian as a sacrifice for your misdeed,â she said, attempting to move closer when Professor Fig intercepted her, holding her back from the man, who ironically was cowering at her outburst. The former auror, the man who so openly would yell at and even sometimes assault Sebastian now cowering because of her no less. Fig spoke in a hushed tone trying to calm her as tears took to her face. The room fell silent as the professors looked between the young woman and Solomon, knowing she cared a great deal for Sebastian. The news alone disturbing them all, but they could hardly imagine her state of mind at discovering her belovedâs own guardian meant for him to take such a horrible fate.Â
âWhy him?â she quietly questioned as Fig successfully calmed her down enough from anger. Solomon looked at her without much of an explanation, before simply sighing.Â
âI know you care for him⊠I care for him⊠heâs my nephew⊠but you have no clue what he was like before you came around⊠he truly was as reckless and stubborn as my-â Solomon started to speak but was so rudely interrupted when a fist met the side of his face. And then his chest. Followed closely by a kick to the groin.Â
No one said a word as y/n broke free from Fig, marching directly to Sebastianâs guardian, and repeatedly using muggle forms of violence against the man all the while shouting a single word through each punch she delivered. âDonât. You. Dare. Speak. Of. Him. That. Way. You. Foul. Rotten. Git. Of. A. Man.âÂ
Ultimately it was Professor Sharp who pulled the young woman, still kicking and screaming, off of Solomon despite his desire to let her continue.Â
The shock of the injured girl beating the Sallow Twinâs guardian and only surviving family to a pulp stunned the room, with the exception of Poppy and Professor Sharp. As he held the girl, whispering for her to calm down directly into her ear they all felt the castle begin to shake.Â
âGodrickâs heart!â Fig cried out as everyone looked around confused.Â
âMr. Moon! Go collect the students and escort them all into the Great Hall. Wait there with professors Shah, Howin, Kogawa and Scribner. Everyone else we need to investigate what is going onâ Matilda started to try and direct everyoneâs attention as y/n stopped them all.Â
âItâs Ranrok, heâs drilling under the school, he is trying to get to a repository of Ancient Magicâ she explained as the bewilderment took over.Â
âI certainly do not follow Miss y/l/nâ Weasley explained and Fig took the time to explain very briefly that she in fact could see ancient forms of magic and had been attempting to put a stop to the goblin rebellion all year.Â
In the commotion Solomon Sallow was almost to the hospital door, and was intercepted by Abraham Ronan who simply offered an awkward smile while using his body to block the manâs attempt at an exit.Â
âWell this is all quite⊠disturbing and we will be discussing this later professor Fig. But you canât possibly imagine I will allow you to march a student into battle, one who was very recently gravely injuredâ she said, annoyed that Fig would even suggest such.Â
âProfessor⊠no one else can see what I can. If thereâs any hope of stopping Ranrok, I am the only one who will be able toâŠâ she quietly said, looking around seemingly looking for something.Â
âI canât-â Matilda started but she was cut off by the student.Â
âItâs her choice, Matilda. Besides, we can protect her as we go.â Sharp explained as he heard a loud cry coming from the hallway.Â
âLet me through- where is he? Aesop?!â a voice called out from the hallway, pushing past the others as a short, red headed woman came bounding in, out of breath and very much pregnant.Â
âBecca? Oh Rebecca.â He called out, rushing to meet her as she flung herself into his arms.Â
âYouâre alive. Oh thank Merlin. I got your owl and you hadnât come home yet and I was so worried-â she cried out as he held her face in his large hands, stroking her hair down as he whispered against her skin.Â
âShhh.. I am so sorry to have worried you, my love. I am alright. But I need you to wait here where it is safe.â he explained and she looked up to him as if they were the only two in the room.
âWhatâs happening?â She asked in confusion, pulling the tie from his hair, letting it fall back around his face as she combed it down.Â
âGoblins, attacking the school. Please promise me you will stay here while I and the other professors handle it.â He said sternly as he lightly gripped her stomach, happy to feel the light kicking.Â
âAesop⊠that sounds dangerousâŠâ she said looking scared as he continued to try and force her to look up at him.
âBecca please, the safety of every student in the castle is my responsibility.â He said with a frustrated sigh. And she nodded understanding his heroics were something despite retired from being an auror, would never go away. She attempted to speak but he did not let her as she tried to calm her frayed nerves by fixing his hair.Â
âAnd donât even suggest going down there with me. I need to know you and the baby are safe.â He explained, still stroking her stomach.Â
âBut-â once again Mrs. Sharp tried to argue with her husband but he reached down, grabbing her waist and pulled her close as he bent his head down to her short stature planting his mouth on hers as the others turned away abruptly.Â
âIt is going to be okay. I wonât be alone.â Aesop whispered to her trying to calm his wifeâs nerves. She only nodded knowing there was no use in arguing with him. Instead she reached around her wrist, removing one of the bands she usually kept for her own hair, and started pulling his dark hair back from around his face so he wouldnât have to fret over it in battle.Â
âPlease come back, Aesop.â She whispered as he once again placed his mouth in hers, pulling away with a determined look on his face.Â
âItâll all be fine I assure you,â Sharp looked over his wifeâs shoulder, letting them fall to Solomon Sallow still attempting to escape the hospital ward and he got a bright idea when he saw the man.Â
âSallow, care to join us?â he asked, not really issuing it as a genuine question, but giving the gentleman the ability to seem nobel regardless.Â
âI -â Solomon started, stuttering as he attempted to think of a reason as to why he couldnât. He was instead met with a delicate hand pushing his shoulder. He looked down to once again see the girl standing at his side and he shuddered remembering how it felt to have her fist smash into the side of his face. Â
âAs an Ex-Auror myself I cannot possibly fathom how one wouldnât gladly jump at the chance to protect school children⊠especially considering they would likely face the ministry for conspiracy with a criminal if they didnât.â Sharp levied. This caused Solomonâs face to turn into a frown realizing what Sharp was attempting to do.Â
âAre you threatening me, Sharp?â Solomon asked through an angered breath.
âI wouldnât call it a threat, moreso just⊠putting things into perspective, Sallow.â Sharp explained, as if it was any consolation prize. Regardless of if the man helped or not, he still had every intention of marching him to officer Singer to at the very least have his wand snapped for his actions.Â
âIt doesnât really sound like I have much of a choice. And what would you do if I simply attempted to walk out of here?â Solomon moved again and she pressed her wand into his rib cage.Â
âI wouldnât do that if I was you. See, that is a threat.â she explained with an annoyed sigh. Looking around she noticed most of the professors had abandoned their posts and were rushing about to situate the school before going into battle. She looked for Professor Fig realizing he too had left, leaving her and Sharp alone with Solomon in the hospital wing.Â
Before anyone could continue their terce conversation Ominis strolled back in, dragging Anne Sallow in behind him as he pointed his wand around looking for an explanation. Abandoning her post of guarding Mr. Sallow she moved closer to Anne. Tossing her arms around the girl she hugged Anne to her.Â
âI am so glad you are alrightâ she explained, glad to see the girl finally recovering after over a year of being inflicted with a curse. She decided at that moment she would later discuss with Sebastian about the discovery of Solomonâs betrayal, before bringing it up to Anne. Now was not the time to dump harsh truths on the recovering girl. Â
âMe?! You were kidnapped by Victor Rookwood, I am just glad you are aliveâ Anne said, hugging the girl close, thankful for her sacrifice but guilty it led to such a horrible place nonetheless. They separated for a moment, allowing Anne to finally see the damage inflicted upon her.Â
âOh y/nâŠâ she sighed, her slender fingers tracing over the forming scar over her face as she felt horrid seeing the woman her brother loved so dearly, injured all in her name.Â
âThis is not your fault. I went into that camp knowing the risks. I am just glad Poppy managed to escape with the journal and you when she did. Scars are hardly anything to concern yourself with.â She explained, hoping to alleviate Anneâs concerns, despite deep down being terrified of how she looked. Worried that based on Anneâs reaction, possibly Sebastian too would no longer find her as fair as he once had. She hardly had time to worry about that now.Â
âBut -â Anne started when she hushed the girl, placing her arms back around her. Looking over she saw Professor Sharp still attempting to alleviate the concerns of his wife.Â
âAnne, I need you to stay here. You are still quite weak and this is far from where the goblins should be. Ominis?â She asked, turning to their companion. The boy, so often ridged, softened at the tone of her voice. She stepped closer to him.
âYes?â he asked as his unseeing eyes gazed at her. She found comfort knowing at the very least he could not treat her differently in his body language towards her. Ever since she had made it back to the castle she already could tell a difference in how people reacted to her, probably concerned at the injuries she bore. She knew going forward Ominis would be someone who, unable to see her changes, would not treat her differently. She sought solace in that thought.Â
âDo you know where Sebastian is? No one has seen himâŠâ she said, concerned she was about to march into battle yet again, without being able to put her eyes on him, nor tell him how dearly she adored him.Â
âHe was with Professor Fig last I heard. Running an errand to the town. He still hasnât even seen Anne I am afraid.â Ominis said sadly, head bowed as he realized based on the drop in her voice she was unsure how dangerous this battle was to be.Â
âShall I convey a message if I see him?â Ominis asked after a beat of silence.Â
âJust, - no. I will tell him myself. Please make sure Anne will be okay and stay out of sight if for some reason we cannot subdue Ranrok.â she explained, stepping forward and hugging him briefly. He hardly had time to force himself to relax before she stepped away repeating the action for Anne. She didnât give either of them a moment to respond, as she walked away, hating that it felt an awful lot like a âgoodbyeâ and not a âsee you later.Â
She returned to the professorâs side, as he gave his wife one last embrace before reaching down for her wand, transfiguring the plain clothes the nurse had given her, back into something slightly more fitting for battle. The dark leather and linen wrapped around her body and she stood, ready to face whatever may come.Â
âUncle Solomon?â Anne asked meekly from the bed Ominis had made her relax back into. Everyoneâs head turned to see what the girl wanted.Â
âYes Anne.â He said with a sigh.Â
âPlease keep her safe.â she expressed, wanting her guardian to help do his best to protect the girl on their way down to face the goblins. Solomonâs eyes went wide realizing what she asked, and that no one had told the girl what he had done. He simply nodded before responding.Â
âI will do everything I can to keep Ms. y/l/n safe,â he said sternly. While she was unsure the man meant it, to be honest she highly doubted it, he played the role well regardless.Â
âWhere exactly are we headed?â Professor Sharp asked and she sighed.Â
âProfessor Fig and I call it the map chamber, it's in the dungeon.â she explained, moving towards the stairwell, to escort the potions master and her loverâs guardian down to face the goblins in hopes wherever Eleazar had gotten off to, he would join them soon enough.Â
Sebastian took the Floo network, hoping it would be faster. He had been so tense he had nearly snapped at the wandmaker, who despite the challenge, seemed genuinely excited about the wand and its construction. Under normal circumstances he too wouldâve been intrigued, ever the scholar himself, but these werenât as such. Â
As he reappeared in the school's hallways, just outside the professor's door he was startled to feel the castle shaking. Why couldnât he just get a break from all the chaos?
Just as he was about to head off in search of what was happening professor Fig reimerged from his classroom, relieved to see Sebastian.Â
âAh Mr. Sallow, I presume Mr. Olivander was able to complete what we neededâ he explained, reaching for the wand as Sebastian handed it over.Â
âYes he did. Whatâs happening? Where is everyone? Is Professor Sharp back from the camp? Is she alive?â Sebastian allowed his questions to fall from his lips rather quickly as the older man looked at him sympathetically.Â
âSheâs alive. She will be okay. I will say, it was quite disturbing the state she came back in, but regardless I think she is doing the best she can⊠as for what is happening, Ranrok is drilling under the school attempting to access the map chamber. We don't have much time. I need to take this wand-â Fig started to explain as Professor Weasley came bounding around the corner with Madam Scribner.Â
âEleazar we must hurry! All the students have been escorted to the great hall where- Mr. Sallow? What are you doing here? You are supposed to be with the other students. I must insist you report to the great hall immediately.â She explained, reaching for the Slytherin boy by his tattered robes, pushing him towards the Librarian to head off to the great hall.Â
âBut-â he started with the librarian cutting him off.Â
âNow Mr. Sallow. All students are to report to the Great Hall for their own safety. I wonât have any arguments.â she explained pushing him down the hall despite his attempts to look back over his shoulder at Professorâs Fig and Weasley.Â
âProfessor Fig pleaseâ he begged, hoping the man would allow him to come, to help, to be reunited. Looking down sadly he shook his head.Â
âI am sorry Sebastian but she wouldnât want you anywhere near it. Thank you for retrieving the wand, but please, for your own safety stay put until this is all over.â the man spoke, ashamed to have to prevent the young man from being reunited, yet doing it for his safety nonetheless.Â
âNo, you donât understand I need to see her. I canât live with myself if she dies down there, and I havenât said goodbye. I love her. Please-â he started but Fig simply looked at him one last time before apparating away with Professor Weasley leaving him with Madam Scribner.Â
âMr. Sallow, please refrain from doing anything irrational.â the librarian spoke and Sebastian debated his chances of escape. He knew his skills with a wand far likely exceeded hers, if he was fast enough perhaps he could slip past her, take the floo network to the dungeon and -
Petrificus Totalus.Â
âI am sorry Sebastian.â Scribner said, actually sounding sympathetic to him, as he laid immobile on the floor of the hallway. Sebastian could feel her attempting to levitate his frozen body and internally he screamed to be released, that this wasnât fair, that he wouldnât accept his fate of being locked away with other students while she marched into battle alone.Â
Yet all he could do was sit there, frozen, as a single tear slipped down his face, his eyes unmoving as he was moved to join the rest of the students in the Great Hall amidst the goblin attack.Â
âHow much further are we going?â Solomon asked, out of breath from all the stairs they were maneuvering down.Â
She elected to ignore him, annoyed he even felt so uncomfortable as to complain. She didnât bother letting him know that it was merely down a few more stairs. They rounded the flight that led into the open cavern, giving way to the final bit of stairs, before coming to stand in the long elegant hallway that went into the map chamber. The quick change in architecture from normal stones, to elegant blue and bronze making the potions professor look around in awe.
âIf itâs not destroyed in the goblin attack you should come down here and sketch it sometimeâ she said to Professor Sharp, hoping to alleviate the tension they were all feeling.Â
âAnd why would I do that?â he asked, shocked she knew of his hobby. Unbothered, the girl turned to him with a small smile.
âI found your drawing room exploring the castle. Iâd apologize for snooping but truly Mr. Moon is to blame for teaching me alohomora and sending me after those Demiguise statutes⊠regardless, your art is quite lovely.â she said.Â
âSnooping around in a professor's private chambers is quite serious. The amount of house points you ought to lose -â he explained, frustrated the student felt so inclined to go into his chambers appalling him.Â
âI hardly think house points matter at the moment but if you feel so strongly when this is over I will take however many detentions you see fit Professor Sharp. Regardless, I still think your art is magnificent.â She explained, pushing open the doors to the map chamber, stepping inside with the two men following behind her. They stood to the side watching as she ran towards the portraits.Â
âOh thank Merlin, it is so wonderful to see you are aliveâ Professor Rackham explained, glad to see her return and not Sebastian.Â
âI am alright, professor. We must hurry. Where is the final trial?â she asked, ready to rush through one last trial in order to gain access to the final repository.Â
âIt has already been completed. We are simply waiting on Professor Fig and the boy to return-â San Bakar started, confounding her as she had not even attempted the final trial, just as Eleazar strolled in quickly, holding out a wand box as he moved across the main floor.Â
âMr. Sallow returned the wand-â Fig began, only to be interrupted by her.Â
âSebastian? Where is he? What do you mean the fourth trial has been completed?â she explained, looking over the man's shoulders hoping to see his handsome face strolling into the chamber but she was met with Eleazarâs stoic expression.Â
âWhile you were captured, your love took it upon himself to complete the final trial in your absence. Given the circumstances we allowed an exception. He was successful and in doing so, granting access to the final artifact, in which he brought to a wandmaker to construct the key to the final repositoryâ Niham explained, looking down at the girl with a soft gaze.Â
âSebastian, he -â she looked around confounded how he would even be able to attempt such a task.Â
âHe is safe with the other students in the great hall, but he valiantly faced the final trial so you wouldnât have to.â Fig explained, setting the wand in her hand.Â
âYou mean to tell me that my nephew was here? That he neglected his sisterâs side for what, some trial?â Solomon asked, reminding everyone in the room of his presence.Â
âNeed I remind you Sallow, he hardly wouldâve had to, if you hadnât allowed that girl to be taken by Rookwood for so long.â Sharp hissed out, effectively cutting the conversation short. Another loud rumble shook the castle as she looked at the portraits.Â
âVictor said that the final repository is below the school, and that Ranrok knows of its location.â she explained and they nodded, indicating for everyone to step back. Doing so, the floor disappeared, as stairs emerged to a doorway below the map.Â
âThe final repository is here. Protect it. And once the goblins have been subdued we shall begin instructing you how to effectively wield this magic. You are to only contain it. Do you understand?â They asked. She thought for a moment. What she had seen, how Isadora had used it to heal her fathers pain. A small part of her wanted to take it, wield it and save Anne, assuming that the journal had failed. She sighed, realizing if contained she could always come back for it laterâŠ
âOf course. I will guard it with my life.â she explained, starting down the stairs with the professors and Solomon.Â
Once the large doors opened, the four stepped inside, following the cavern as the castle began to shake around them.Â
âSebastianâ Poppy Sweeting said as the spell was dropped and he could finally move his limbs again. The Librarian had set him at the back of the Great Hall on the floor, after moving his immobile body through the castle.Â
He sat up, rubbing his head before discarding his torn school robes. He looked around and saw several other students in his year: Natsi, Garreth, Everett, Leander, Imelda, Samantha and the Hufflepuff directly in front of his face. He groaned, frustrated that he hadnât been successful and now he found himself locked inside the hall with the rest of the students as the castle shook. Sebastian quickly noted the absence of his sister and Ominis, but figured they were still in the hospital wing.Â
Cries were coming from various spots around the room as the first years, seemed distraught as some of the professors and upper class students attempted to console them at the disturbing noises and shaking.Â
âPoppy what happened?â he asked, attempting not to be stern with the girl, but his patience for the situation growing thin.Â
âI am sorry Sebastian, I truly am⊠she was insistent upon going into that camp for Anne. Then even more insistent I leave to go warn Anne and Solomon, to escape with the journal.â Poppy explained, looking down at her hands as Sebastian sighed.Â
âItâs alright. We can discuss it later. I would, however, like to get out of here.â He explained, picking himself up off the floor.Â
âThatâll be hard to do, as the professorâs have charmed the door. My aunt did it herself before leaving with some of the faculty. Itâs going to take a lot of magic to undo those charms, and weâd likely get caught before we can mutter the spells.â Garreth explained.Â
âSurely thereâs a way to get out of here.â Sebastian had hoped that perhaps in the chaos heâd be able to slip away.
âWhat would we do even if we were successful?â Imelda asked, coming closer to join Poppy.Â
âHelp her. She went down there with professor Fig. I havenât much time to explain it, but sheâs - sheâs not like us. She can see magic that we canât. I have seen her wield it. It is a very powerful, ancient magic that Ranrok is after. If he gets a hold of it, I fear we may all suffer.â he explained as everyone quietly observed. Â
âBut we are just students, you canât expect us to be able to stop a goblin rebellionâ Samantha Dale spoke, frustrating him.Â
âDid she not help save your brother Samantha?â he asked sharply, turning towards the others.Â
âOr help you discover astronomy tables all over the highlands when you are too frightened to go alone Amit? What about beating your flying records Imelda? Or stealing things for your brews Garreth? Hell, she even helped Leander by rounding up his escaped chinese chomping cabbages. My point is that she has spent all year helping each and every one of us. What has she ever asked for in return?â He spoke and they all went sullen, realizing that the new 5th year had gone above and beyond in helping everyone, without ever expecting a return on her kindness.Â
âHell, sheâs spent so much time trying to do the right thing in order to satiate your moral fiber Natty or help you rescue magical creatures Poppy. I am not without blame in exhausting her either. I'm afraid by constantly going on about a cure for Anne⊠When she left the school yesterday she was leaving to help centaurs and wound up captured by Rookwood. I haven't a clue how bad it was but Poppy -'' he started once again and the poor Hufflepuff girl wracked with enough guilt to last the remainder of their school year looked solemnly at the group and shook her head as if to say âit was awfulâ.Â
âRegardless, we owe it to her. She has stretched herself parchment thin, and Iâll be damned if she dies down there alone, without aid and out of exhaustion. You can either come with me, or just help me get out of here, but please donât let her go through this alone.â Sebastian said.Â
He turned to Poppy, gesturing to the girl while saying âwe would be the most unloyal friends to sit idly byâŠâ before looking at Amit and Samantha and continuing his train of thought. âAnd the most unintelligent classmates if we canât find a way out of hereâ. He then turned to the bulk of their group mates clad in red, âWe would be companions who lack the bravery she needsâ and then lastly looking to himself and Imelda finally acknowledging his role; ânot to mention unfit housemates to be called resourceful, if we havenât the heart to help when we know we know that power is within usâ.  Â
âSebastian is right. She deserves as much help as she can get.â Natty spoke, drawing a thankful nod from him.
âLook I am all for helping I suppose, but how exactly are we getting out of here to even go help? We wouldnât know where to go even if we did get out to helpâ Leander spoke and the boy's easy dismissal frustrated Sebastian. Of course Leander would try and weasel out of helping. How the boy was Gryffindor when he lacked any form of bravery in Sebastianâs eyes, heâd never know.Â
âI think I may know where they are coming in fromâ Imelda spoke as the group turned towards her. âBehind the quidditch pitch, and the owlery, thereâs a small cave atop the hill. Iâve noticed large machines made from goblin metal, along with many of Ranrokâs loyalists. I warned officer Singer, however I doubt she has done much.â Imelda explained. Thinking of the geography of the castle, Sebastian rationalized that it would make the most sense, as every other side of the castle was surrounded by water, and that would be the only area in which drilling could take place.Â
âStill doesnât solve how we are getting out of here, or what we will do when we escapeâ Leander insisted.Â
âWe can use the brooms. We can sneak around to the front of the school, and borrow the flying class brooms. They arenât that nice, but I imagine they will suffice. Imelda donât you still have the key?â Everett asked and she nodded.Â
âSo Imelda and Everett can go snag the brooms. Natty, is there any way you can run by the potions classroom and collect some of the stores from professor Sharps closets? I know he has an abundance of wiggenweld, thunderbrew and invisibility potions because Iâve been making them during detentions. If we are going into battle it may not be the worst idea to come prepared.â Sebastian asked, forming a plan in his mind the best he could.Â
âThat sounds like a great idea. I can meet Imelda and Everett on the lawn when I am finished.â Natty said with a nod.Â
âI will go Natty, and stop in the greenhouse. I have a few plants that could do some damage that Iâve been tending for Professor garlickâ Leander explained and while Sebastian wanted to roll his eyes, the thoughts of his least favorite classmate hurling Chinese chomping cabbages at goblins did sound⊠interesting.Â
âWe can go by the ravenclaw tower. I have the original schematics for the drills they are using in my dorm room. Samantha, would you like to tag along? You all could pick us up off the roof since we have a rooftopâ Amit offered and while Sebastian wanted to question how Amit of all people wound up with Ranroks plans he didnât question it.Â
âAlright that leaves Poppy, Garreth, Lucan and I. Poppy, would you mind joining me to stop by and retrieve something in the astronomy wing that might be useful?â Sebastian asked, alluding to the room of requirement and she nodded not giving away what he meant.Â
âWell we know what we do when we get out of here, but that doesnât do much good if we canât leaveâ Samantha explained frustrated.Â
âLeave that to me. Iâve been cooking up a brew for quite some time now and I think this is the perfect opportunity to test it out. Want to help me Lucan?â Garreth asked and the younger student nodded.Â
âSo that settles it then. What exactly does this potion entail Weasley? Or what is our cue to leave?â Sebastian asked skeptically. Â
âTrust me, youâll knowâÂ
To be continuedâŠ

[The cell Rowland Oakes was kept in]
It never happened (as far as we know) but just imagine the MC gettin caught by Ranrok.
Imagine the MC getting imprisoned, tortured by goblins and dark wizards and witches alike.
Imagine the MC being lost and dying alone on the cold, moist ground in some cave, their body never to be found.
Imagine their friends searching day and night; imagine Sebastian, Natsai and Poppy not sleeping for weeks; imagine Ominis trying to take care of them, make sure they sleep and eat and function at least enough to not break down every other minute.
Imagine Fig seeking advice from the keepers, guilt ridden that he wasn't there to protect his student; imagine him staying up the nights, talking to his deceased wife and asking her if his student is now with her, only to receive no response. Imagine him thinking that he has failed as a husband, as a teacher as a friend and wondering whether he could go on living like this.
Imagine the houself Penny crying every day for the friend who saved her. Imagine Professor Weasley breaking down in Professor Sharp's arms, begging the auror to find her student. Imagine Professor Garlick crying as she plants an honorary Venemosa Tentacula just for her, taking dear care of it every day while thinking of her. Imagine Professor Onai sitting in in front of her daughters room every night, listening to her crying herself to sleep.
Imagine Deek standing in the room of requirement, watching as the planting stations and potion kettles slowly vanish. Imagine him listening to the agonizing sounds the beasts make when their worlds start falling apart. Imagine the room kicking him out and shutting the doors, since he just can't come up with something to stop whatever is happening.
Imagine professor Black holding a banquet for the MC's sake; imagine him trying to give a speech, with Professor Weasley interrupting him and continue in his sake.
Imagine the good side loosing.

Can you please do headcanons for Garreth Weasley? I love your Sebastian ones but I need Garrethâs too! :D
I was waiting for someone to ask for this sweet boy!
Random Garreth headcanons by me!
Time for this sweet boy!Â
Seriously, like this boy is the biggest cutie pie in the entire school.Â
SO BUCKLE UP YâALL!Â
Garreth has a LOT of siblings, Iâm talking six to seven or more. The Weasley's are known for having a lot of children.Â
Iâd say heâs somewhere in the upper middle of the family. And as of the time in the game, heâs the oldest Weasley at Hogwarts.Â
Probably has a lot of little sisters. Iâd imagine when he gets home, the sisters who arenât at school yet just bombard him with hugs and then talk his ear off about things that they did while he was gone at school.Â
I feel like heâs really close with his mom and dad but heâs around his mom more because sheâs home more than his dad is.Â
100% a baker.Â
THIS BOY CAN BAKE.Â
Yeah sure he can cook but he is AMAZING at baking. He learned from his mom when he was really young and hadnât stopped since. It gave him a sweet tooth (iâd say most of the weasleys have one). When heâs at home, heâs making something at least every day in the kitchen.Â
On the topic of food, he loves it. As most of the Weasleys do, Garreth loves to eat. Anytime, anywhere, he just loves it! (and I cannot blame him lol)Â
His love for experimenting potions came from experimenting in the kitchen as a kid.Â
At school, his best friends without a doubt are Leander and Natty. Theyâre always talking and hanging out together.Â
That being said, if Garreth ever found out that he and Leander were related later down the line in not one but two ways, he would literally pass out. Although it was by marriage, who wouldnât want to be at least related to their best friend in some way??Â
Loves pulling pranks. On whoever, whenever. He also ropes Leander into them because usually they have the same person in mind when they want to prank someone and usually their pranks work, theyâre pretty good at it by now.Â
He gets along decently well with Sebastian. They hang out more than people think they do.Â
He would hang out more with Ominis if Ominis didnât scare the crap out of him. He doesnât know why but he finds Ominis both very intriguing and very intimidating.Â
His favorite classes are definitely Potions and Herbology. HATES Astronomy because itâs always cold up in the tower.Â
Yeah this boy hates the cold. He HATES IT.Â
In the winter times heâs always bundled up and he suddenly becomes super grateful that his mom and grandmas knit him all these sweaters because heâs wearing one everyday along with layers, his house scarf and his robes. He doesnât like the cold at all.Â
Heâll still go play in the snow but that doesnât mean he wonât complain about how cold it is.Â
If Garreth played quidditch, heâd definitely be a beater.Â
He actually does pretty well, motivated by the fact that all his older brothers played quidditch and he doesnât want to be the only one who didnât and didnât do well.Â
His favorite Professors would be Professor Garlick and surprisingly Professor Sharp. As much as Professor Sharp gets on his case all the time, Garreth knows a lot of what he does about potions because Sharp has been such a good teacher. And like I explained in the Sharp hcâs where Garreth kinda grew on him, it was likewise for Garreth.Â
And if you thought it was gonna be his aunt, no, itâs not. His aunt keeps him in line at school and heâs still grumpy about it.Â
Heâs an amazing storyteller. He grew up making up and telling stories on the fly to his younger siblings and it definitely stayed with him as he grew up. He can come up with the most brilliant ideas and make them into a story thatâs entertaining for everyone.Â
This boy would be the cutest, wholesome lover ever.Â
The kind of one to run up to you suddenly and give you kisses all over your face. Yeah that one.Â
He LOVES physical affection. It's definitely his love language. In his family its normal to be very affectionate to one another, not to mention we know every single Mrs. Weasley to ever exist has ALWAYS been motherly and affectionate and it definitely rubbed off on Garreth. He has no problem hugging, cuddling, or giving forehead/cheek kisses to anyone heâs close to.Â
Leander was like (??) the first time Garreth gave him a kiss on the forehead in their first year but after that he got used to it and he actually finds it pretty sweet.Â
As much as this HC would make it seem like Garrethâs boggart would probably be something to do with his family dying, honestly I think his is more similar to Rons. HE HATES SPIDERS and so when that giant spider comes running out of the boggart chest, he screams.Â
He thinks theyâre ugly and gross with FAR too many legs to be comfortable with. Not to mention the eyes. Ugh he just hates them. If thereâs a spider at home, heâd rather let his little sisters kill it.Â
He definitely thinks heâs the funniest person in the world. And although he does have a great sense of humor, sometimes itâs a very specific kind of humor that takes you a minute to get.Â
Definitely slaps his knee and doubles over when heâs laughing.Â
Heâs not very good at remembering he has homework, tests, or other school obligations other than classes and so his Aunt Matilda is always having to remind him. And while he is very thankful for that, heâs of course gotta be salty cuz his aunt is telling him what to do.Â
His baby face never really left him. As he got older his cheekbones got a little more defined but nothing super serious. This boy will always have his cute squishy cheeks in one way or another.Â
I feel like if the right person was in his life at the time, heâd probably get married pretty quick after school and he DEFINITELY wants kids. And a lot of them at that. Itâs like itâs a staple statement of the Weasley family.Â
Heâd be a great dad, always being involved in his kids' lives, heâd always try to teach them new things and at the request of his partner try to get his kids to not blow things up like he did.Â
Overall he really is just the sweetest boy in all of Hogwarts.Â
Ugh I just love him! I'll definitely do a part 2 for him soon!

MARS,
Has Mara ever had any crushes besides Natty? I canât stop imagining a very silly and uncharacteristically friendly interaction between her and Isabel in which they gush to each other about cute girls and guys while lying on the floor and kicking their feet đ
IM RUBBING MY HANDS TOGETHER LIKE A NEFARIOUS CARTOON VILLIANâ anyways. Yes.
She had a HUGE crush on Anne, unrequited. I imagine Anne was after Ominis or someone else, or perhaps just didnât see her the same way. Their third year is just a mess of young tweens who canât get differentiate platonic versus romantic attraction. Though Maraâs feelings are real, Seb is just confused and later realizes âoh wait no iâd never date Mar even if she liked boysâ
Whole thing is a goofy square that looks like this
Anyways her crush on Anne was never resolved and went unspoken and kind of festered in her mind for years until Natty came along and she fell in love all over again, except this time it was obtainable and she was just able to be Anneâs bestie and live with that happily.
Though Amara definitely engages in gossip over pretty girls, or even Professors like Garlick, who sheâs totally in love with (arenât we all). She does it with Sebastian and Garreth a lot, so sheâd definitely have that same energy with Isabel!! Even if itâs totally uncharacteristic at first, sheâd definitely engage.
I also reckon their rivalry is kind of forced to be subdued in a group setting so if thereâs girls gossip hour in the slytherin dorms for example, they actually start to get along!
Thank you for the ask!! đđđ

Stairs
Credit: The idea of Sebastian trying to climb the stairs to the female dorms while arguing with his romantic interest only to fall on his ass was from @kirke-is-my-name, who kindly gave me permission to write about it. â„
The characters (other than my OC), places, and spells are all from Hogwarts Legacy.
All main characters have been aged up to 20 years old, since Iâm an adult and donât feel comfortable writing romance about teenagers. This is somewhat of a love triangle situation between Sebastian/my OC SĂ©ance/Ominis but will ultimately lead to SĂ©ance/Sebastian. Feel free to imagine yourself as the love interest, I donât mind, I simply donât like writing ây/nâ stories as much. :) I also posted this on Fanfiction.net under the same username. Here's the link if you'd like to read it there:
Some parts are in Sebastianâs POV, some parts are from SĂ©anceâs POV. I do hope you enjoy despite the fact that I wrote this all in one sitting! ^~^
Word count: 4,616
Rating: T for a bit of cursing and sensual references.

SĂ©anceâs POV
âSĂ©ance, do you have a moment?â Ominis asked, catching up to me as I exited Professor Hecatâs classroom.
âOf course, what can I do for you, Ominis?â I replied, making a beeline for the edge of the hallway so others would pass us by.
Ominis shifted from foot to foot restlessly, and he adjusted the collar to his robe. âI was wondering- well, I just wanted to ask if you would like to join me at The Three Broomsticks this Friday after classes.â
âThat sounds lovely,â I agreed, âwill Sebastian be joining us as well?â Sebastian almost always accompanied us when we went to The Three Broomsticks, and on the rare occasion he didnât, Natty, Imelda, or Poppy had tagged along.
âNot this timeâŠI thought it could just be you and I this trip.â His cheeks appeared a bit flushed, but I attributed that to his rush to grab my attention after class.
âWell, that sounds just fine to me. Iâve got to stop by Tomes and Scrolls anyhow, so perhaps Iâll do so afterward.â
âItâs a plan then.â Ominis replied, a smile spread across his lips. âIâll see you in final period.â He added before waving and heading off toward his next class.
I turned to make my way to the Herbology corridor.
-
Sebastian welcomed me with a grin and a quick wave of his hand as I entered the classroom, walking to my potting station adjacent to his.
âHey.â He greeted me.
âHello Sebastian, how are you?â
âIâm excited for my next Crossed Wands duel. Iâve been practicing and Iâm going to destroy Imelda.â The brunette chuckled, before glancing my way. âHow are you? Youâll be there, right? This Friday afternoon.â
I froze, feeling guilty already. I hadnât missed one of Sebastianâs duels yet, just as he hadnât missed any of mine. âIâm so sorry Sebastian, Iâm afraid Iâve already made plans Friday. I had no idea you were scheduled to duel.â
âOh,â He replied, a disappointed expression on his face, âItâs alright, I understand. I guess I canât expect you to be at all of them.â
âMaybe I can reschedule,â I began.
âThatâs not necessary, SĂ©ance. If youâve already made plans, then you should see them through.â He insisted.
âAlright then,â I replied uncertainly.
Professor Garlick then began rattling off information about the amazing Venomous Tentacula and its different properties, informing us that the plant could even be utilized in certain potions.
-
Sebastianâs POV
The remainder of the day passed, and I found myself simmering for most of it. I couldnât figure out why, given that SĂ©ance had only made plans because she hadnât been aware of my scheduled duel. Regardless, she had every right not to come. She had no obligation to me. I knew I was acting ridiculous, but I still couldnât help the way that I felt, even if my feelings werenât justifiable.
I dragged myself to the male Slytherin dorms, dropping my bag to the ground with a loud thud. I defeatedly slumped onto my bed face-first, groaning.
âYou seem to be in quite a mood.â Ominis said cheerily from his bed next to mine, and I jumped at the surprise of his company.
âOminis! I didnât know you were there.â I replied, rolling onto my back.
âForgive me, Iâd simply assumed that the person whose eyes worked would have seen me when he came in.â He quipped, chuckling.
I sighed, annoyed, even though I knew Iâd usually have found humor in the situation and Ominisâ joke.
Ominis furrowed his brow, turning his face in my general direction. âAlright, whatâs wrong? Youâre usually mercurial but this is a new level of sulking, even for you.â
I groaned in irritation and waved him off even though he wouldnât see it. âI donât want to discuss it. Why donât you tell me whatâs got you so nauseatingly cheerful?â
Ominis grinned once again at the subject, and he clasped his hands in front of him. âIf you must know, Iâve got a date this Friday.â
âA date? With whom?â I asked, my eyes narrowing in suspicion. Friday was the day SĂ©ance had told me she had plans.
I mentally reassured myself that it couldnât be her, because sheâd given no implication that she was romantically interested in Ominis. In fact, she hadnât seemed to take particular interest in anyone as of yet.
âWith SĂ©ance. I asked her today after Defence Against the Dark Arts.â Ominisâ cheeks reddened and he continued to smile, evidently unable to wipe the dopey look off his face.
âThat canât be right, SĂ©ance doesnât date. Everyone knows that.â I pointed out. Many men, and even some women, in our school had tried. Sheâd turned them all down, albeit gently. âAnd why didnât you tell me you were going to ask her?â
âI suppose the right person just hadnât asked her yet.â Ominis shrugged. âAnd I didnât want to say anything until there was something to tell. Now there is.â
âYou canât date her!â I blurted out before clamping my mouth shut, resting my face in my palm.
âAnd why not?â Ominis replied defensively. His glare missed me by a couple feet, but I got the message.
âB-Because, itâll ruin our friend group.â I said, scrambling for an excuse. Even to my own ears, it fell flat. âBesides, are you sure she even knows itâs a date? Did you explicitly ask her on a date?â
âSebastian, if I didnât know you better, Iâd say you sound jealous.â Ominis crossed his arms over his chest. âI thought youâd be happy for me. And no, I didnât say âHey SĂ©ance, will you go on a date with me?â, but I did ask her to accompany me to The Three Broomsticks. When she asked if you were coming, I told her I would like for it to just be the two of us. I donât feel I could have made it much more obvious that I was asking her on a date.â
âJealous? Why would I be jealous?!â I asked incredulously, despite absolutely feeling jealous.
âBecause I know you used to like her, but that was years ago. Iâd thought you had moved past those feelings.â Ominis countered, still looking indignant. âApparently I was incorrect.â
âSo I might have had some feelings when we first became friends, but that was so long ago! Things are different now.â As I spoke the words, I could feel that they were a lie.
âWhat stopped you from acting on those feelings back at the start, then?â Ominis asked. âYou must not have liked her much if you didnât bother making a move. Thatâs never been an issue for you with other women.â He pointed out.
âBecause I liked SĂ©ance too much. I didnât want to ruin our friendship, or destroy the group dynamic we have. Iâm not great with women, I knew Iâd fuck it up somehow, so I let it go.â I admitted.
âDid you? Let it go, I mean? Because it sure doesnât sound like you âlet it goâ.â Ominis pursed his lips skeptically.
âI thought I had.â I admitted quietly. âBut now I donât know how I feel.â
âWell, you better figure it out, Sebastian.â Ominis said coldly. âBecause I donât want things to progress with SĂ©ance unless I know thereâs nothing between you two on her end. You need to settle this.â
âHow can you even like her?â I asked cynically.
âWhat kind of a question is that?â Ominis retorted. âYou know how because you like her, too.â
âThatâs not what I meant. You were vehemently against me using Dark Magic and were furious when I learned the Unforgivable Curses. How can you now seek the hand of someone who uses those very same Curses?â
Ominis was quiet for a moment, pondering this. âIt bothered me too much at first,â He conceded, âBut Iâve known her for so long now. She only uses those spells to protect and help others.â
âThatâs the same reason I started learning them!â I exclaimed frustratedly.
Ominis sighed defeatedly. âIâm aware, Sebastian. I stopped raking you over the coals for that ages ago. Where is this coming from? You know youâre not going to talk me out of having feelings for her, right?â
I took a deep breath as well. âI knowâŠâ Standing up, I grabbed my book-bag off of the floor where Iâd dumped it earlier. âIâm going to the library to study.â I told him dryly.
-
SĂ©anceâs POV
Ominis sat next to me in Defence Against the Dark Arts as usual, but he looked much more perturbed than he typically did.Â
âIs everything alright today, Ominis?â I asked him, whispering since we were supposed to be listening to Professor Hecat.
He continued looking forward but tilted his head toward me to hear more clearly. âIâm okay, but I think you need to speak to Sebastian.â Ominis murmured back, frowning.
My brow furrowed in confusion, âWhy?â I asked him.
âIâll not say more, you two need to have a discussion.â
And he stayed true to that sentiment, refusing to elaborate when I attempted to get him to throughout the class. The bells rang and the nervousness fluttering in my stomach became a full-on swarm as I made my way to Herbology class, knowing Iâd see Sebastian there. I wondered why Ominis had said I needed to speak to him, and whether it was about something bad. Had I done something wrong, or was he still unhappy about me missing his duel?
I entered the Herbology room, my glance nervously flicking toward Sebastian. He was already seated, and even as I sat next to him, he refused to look at me.
âHi, SebastianâŠâ I greeted him awkwardly.
âSĂ©ance.â He replied curtly.
âOkay, whatâs wrong?â I asked, trying to level with him.
âWhat do you mean? Nothingâs wrong.â He replied flatly, still refusing to glance in my direction.
âOminis told me I needed to speak with you. He wouldnât say anything more than that.â
Sebastian laughed dryly, rolling his eyes. âOh, did he now?â
âOkay seriously, Sebastian-â I began, but he quickly cut me off.
âWe should pay attention to Professor Garlick.â He stated dismissively, turning his gaze toward the red-haired woman.
My brow pinched in concern, and I frowned, âThatâs a firstâ I muttered.
Sebastian never had an issue ignoring teachers in favor of chatting with me before. It was clear he was upset, but I didnât understand why. After all, Iâd offered to postpone my plans and he had declined. I didnât feel I'd earned his ire at all. Then again, he was known to have a temper sometimes. I decided to shrug it off and assumed things would improve on their own. If he didnât start acting normal by the end of the day, then Iâd bring the matter to his attention again.
The rest of class passed without incident, but also without Sebastian so much as looking at me. As the bells chimed to signify the end of the period, Sebastian turned to leave but I gently grasped his forearm to stop him.
âSebastian, arenât we walking to the next class together?â I inquired. We had every other day, given that we shared the same final period, where weâd join Ominis as well.
âIâve got something I need to do before going to class.â He informed me shortly, pulling his arm away and heading off.
I sighed, gathering my belongings, and walked toward Professor Sharpâs classroom for final period.
âWho put a broomstick in his ass?â Imelda asked, watching Sebastianâs back as he hurried off.
âI donât know. I must have done something to anger him.â I shrugged, looking over at her.
âCanât imagine what.â She said, smirking as if she knew something more than I did.
I looked at her suspiciously. âWhat do you know?â
âNot much more than you do.â She replied, gesturing for me to enter Professor Sharpâs class ahead of her. I found Sebastian already seated. I felt my eyes narrow in irritation. He clearly lied about not being able to walk to class with me since he was here before me. I decided not to sit next to him and Ominis, and instead choose a station next to Imelda.
âSo, youâre avoiding Sebastian now?â She asked, quirking an eyebrow. âHere I thought he was the one avoiding you.â
âThings are weird with him right now and I donât know why.â I muttered, disgruntled. âI thought I should give him space until I figure it out.â
âIâve an idea.â She smirked at me; a knowing glance shot my way.
âYou do? What is it, then?â
âItâs because of your date with Ominis, of course.â She informed me flippantly with a wave of her hand.
I froze, squinting at her. âMy what?â
She looked at me, brow furrowed and eyes narrowed âI heard him ask you out yesterday in the hallway. Donât worry, Iâm not going to tell anyone about it. I donât care enough to anyway.â
My eye twitched as the synopses in my brain misfired. âIâŠIâm not going on a date with Ominis. He only asked me to The Three Broomsticks. We always go there together.â
âAlone?â She asked, putting an emphasis on the word.
I gaped at her in silence for a moment. âWell, noâŠâ
âThatâs what I thought.â Imelda made her point, tugging at the base of her top to adjust it.
âBut why would Sebastian be treating me differently because of that?â I asked.
Imelda looked at me like I was a dolt and opened her mouth to answer, but Professor Black interrupted from right behind us.
âMy apologies, ladies. I didnât realize I was interrupting your social hour with my boring instruction. Shall I wait for your gossip about Mr. Sallow to conclude before I continue?â He asked, sarcasm dripping from his voice.
Both of us blushed, embarrassed at being confronted in front of the whole class. I knew my face was beet-red. Each of us muttered an apology.
âAh, excellent.â Professor Sharp said and then retreated, continuing to teach. I couldnât pay attention, more focused on Sebastian across the room and my thoughts of the situation at hand. I kept looking his way to see if he had a reaction to what our professor had said in front of the class. He met my stare a couple times, holding it for a few seconds, his face devoid of expression, before looking elsewhere.
âThatâs enough.â, I decided, âIâm talking to him after classâ.
I had my supplies packed up before the bells even rang and sprang up the second I heard the first notes ring out. I saw Sebastian rushing to escape the classroom ahead of me, but I had been prepared for this and caught up to him.
âThatâs it, youâre talking to me right now.â I commanded him authoritatively, grabbing his upper arm and pulling him back once we were far enough down the hallway.
With my hand on his arm, I could feel muscle that his robes hid well. In the last few years, heâd grown up quite a lot. He was now at least six inches taller than my 5â7 height, and I had to look upward to view his face. It was unlike when we first met, and our heights had only been centimeters apart. My hand, fully stretched, still didnât even cover half of his bicep as I held onto it.
He turned to me, and his eyes flicked to mine, cold and dark. âOh, am I?â He asked derisively, tearing his arm from my grasp. âAnd why should I do that?â
I blinked, caught off guard by this reaction. âBecause weâre supposed to be friends.â I answered, desperately trying to figure out why heâd be this infuriated.
âFriends?â Sebastian repeated, his posture relaxing deceptively as he raked his hand through his messy brown hair. âI donât think so.â
I swallowed the lump in my throat, my voice wavering slightly. âWhat is that supposed to mean?â I asked hollowly.
âA friend wouldnât ditch me to go on a date with someone whoâs like a brother to me!â His anger exploded again, and he paced back and forth, continuing to muss up his hair and make it even more wild.
âSebastianâŠâ I said softly, âI had no idea it was a date; you have to believe me.â
âYeah, right!â He spat back, âYou know what? Iâm done with this conversation.â He stormed off, and I followed right on his heels.
I called after him several times, trailing him all the way to the dorms before he finally stopped to turn around.
âWhat do you want?!â He yelled; expression twisted in fury. âI donât want to talk to you! Iâm done with this, stop pestering me!â
I glared at Sebastian, crossing my arms over my chest. Stepping closer to him, I looked up at his enraged face.
âYouâre really this petty? Youâre going to end a four-year friendship over a misunderstanding? You have no right to treat me this way! Even if I wanted to go on dates, I could, Sallow. You donât own me. You are so out of line itâs unbelievable.â I shouted, tears of frustration brimming my eyes. âIâve sat around waiting for you to ask me out for years, Sebastian. Years, and you never did. Iâve turned down everyone else who asked in the pathetic hope that you might throw me a scrap of romantic attention. Meanwhile, Iâve had to stand by and watch you date a new woman every other month. So, you donât get to do this. Iâm the one whoâs done.â I poked his chest, hard. âIâm done talking to you. And believe me when I say Iâm done being friends with you, too.â I added, my voice trembling.
I turned and ran up the stairs to the female Slytherin dorm rooms, finally letting the tears fall onto my cheeks now that he could no longer see me.
-
Sebastianâs POV
âIâve sat around waiting for you to ask me out for years, Sebastian.â
The words repeated themselves in my head several times before they fully registered. Why was I such an idiot? Why did I say I didnât want to be friends with her anymore?
âIâm done being friends with you, too.â
My jaw finally shut, and I sprung into action.
âSĂ©ance, get back here! Weâre not finished with this conversation!â I shouted after her, still clinging to my anger as I sprinted up the stairs.
Only, there were no stairs. It became a flat, slippery ramp and I stumbled back, sliding downward and finally landing on my ass. I grunted at the brunt of the fall, my cheeks reddening in embarrassment. If that wasnât a lesson in humility, I didnât know what was.
âImpressive,â Imelda said wryly. âThatâll win her over for sure.â
She smirked at me, and I could tell she was holding back laughter. How gracious of her. I stood up again, my fists clenched.
âWill you please get SĂ©ance to come down here?â I asked through gritted teeth.
âWhy should I?â Imelda asked, that familiar judgmental tone in her voice. âIt seems youâve done enough already. You really messed this one up.â
âPlease, Imelda, Iâm begging you.â I stared at her, my expression hard and serious.
âHmmâŠAlright. But only because you begged. I like SĂ©ance. I think sheâll be able to keep you in line. Someone has to.â She gave me an up-and-down glance then disappeared up the staircase.
I paced back and forth, awaiting SĂ©anceâs return at the bottom, our conversation on replay in my mind.
-
SĂ©anceâs POV
Imelda approached me, and I knew I looked like a full-on lunatic. I had tears running down my cheeks from when I was upset only a minute ago, but now I was also stifling laughter after what Iâd just witnessed. Sebastian, fully in his rage-mode, getting dumped onto his ass by a magic staircase. I started chuckling all over again. There were too many emotions brewing within me. Embarrassment that Iâd finally admitted my feelings for him, fear over what the things that had transpired between us would mean and how things would change moving forward, anger that he was treating me so poorly, helplessness over the entire situation, hurt that he tried to end our friendship over nothing, and humor over the staircase situation. I laughed again as I thought of it.
âI see you watched Sebastianâs staircase debacle.â Imelda said, a mirthful smile playing on her lips.
I smirked back at her. âIt was quite a finale to a hellish display.â
She gave a bark of a laugh, then sat next to me on my bed, touching my shoulder. âAre you alright?â
I looked over at her, noticing for the hundredth time how pretty she was. For all her snark, surface-level narcissism, and detached demeanor, she was quite wonderful once you got to know her.
âYes, Imelda, Iâm fine. Thank you for checking on me.â
âThatâs what Iâm here for.â She said, leaning further on the bed and crossing her legs underneath her. âWell, that andâŠâ
âAnd what?â I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose to take the edge off my headache. âWhat did Sebastian say to you?â
âHe really wants you to go back down and talk to him. He literally begged me to come get you. As much as I usually love seeing a cocky, delusional man resort to begging, I did actually feel a bit bad for him.â She bit her index finger, looking off into the distance as she thought about it. âYou are quite something to lose.â
âYou should have heard the way he was talking to me, Imelda.â I refuted. âBut thank you, thatâs sweet of you to say.â
âI did hear him. Well, most of what he said, anyway. Thereâs a lot of passion in that man.â She grinned over at me. âThat kind of passion transfers well into other areas, if you catch my meaning.â
I laughed a bit and then sighed, shaking my head. âOnly you, Imelda.â
I blushed upon pondering what sheâd said. Sebastian was nothing if not passionate.
âThere is no one like me.â She remarked, her hand flat under her face to frame it and exaggerate her statement. âSo, are you going to go talk to him?â
I groaned, tilting my head, and glanced toward her. âShould I?â
âIâve got to say, Iâm rooting for him. Heâs got fire, that one. Men without fire are so boring.â She snickered. âBesides, youâre obviously mad for each other.â
My face reddened again as I opened my mouth to deny it, but I couldnât. âHow do you know?â
âAre you serious?â She scoffed, throwing her hand to the side in front of her. âFor one, I could cut the sexual tension between you two with a knife. The way he looks at you- itâs like heâs a starving wolf and youâre a giant steak dinner.â
I laughed, rolling my eyes at her exaggeration.
âOn a more serious note, Iâve observed both of you the last few years and youâre always taking care of each other. Heâs loved you for a long time. Why do you think he dumps the girls he dates before things get too serious with them? Besides, even when others turned their backs on him, you never did. Why start now?â
Her last sentence rang in my ears, and I looked at her, shocked.
âWhat?! I do say something profound every once in a while.â She said defensively, raising her eyebrow at me. âWhat are you still doing here? Go, go. Get your man.â She shooed me away like a pet who was begging at mealtime.
âAlright.â I said, standing up. âAnd Imelda? Thank you.â
âIt was nothing.â She waved me off as I left the room. Â
I silently made my way down the staircase, unsure if Sebastian would even still be waiting after so long. He was. I found him seated at the bottom of the stairs, against the opposite wall. His knees were bent, his elbows resting on them, and his long fingers wound through his hair. I could tell just by a glance that he was horribly upset. I got down on my knees in front of him.
âSebastian,â I said gently.
âIâm sorry.â He said immediately, the words flat. It was obvious he was beating himself up over it all. âFor everything. I didnât mean it.â
I leaned forward and took his hands, gently untangling them from his hair and holding them in my own. His stayed limp and pliant.
âLook at me.â I requested, squeezing his hands in mine.
He slowly turned his face upward, meeting my gaze. His irises were dark and murky, his cheeks and eyes rouged. I could tell he had shed at least a few tears. My throat felt tight at the realization, and my eyes began to water. Sebastian had cried because of me.
âIâm sorry, too.â I whispered. âI didnât mean it either.â
He shut his eyes and shook his head for a moment before staring back into mine.
âFor what?â He asked. âYou didnât do anything wrong, Iâm the one who started everything. Iâve been acting like an idiot because Iâm jealous.â
âIâm sorry I hurt you. I never would have agreed to go with Ominis if Iâd known he looked at it that way. You know that.â
âI knowâŠâ Sebastian admitted, his brow furrowed as he leaned his head back to rest against the cool stone of the wall. He seemed to have no energy left in him. âBut jealousy obviously isn't the most logical of emotions.â
âWhy are you jealous?â I asked, wanting to know the extent of how he felt.
His head lulled forward, and he gazed up at me with an obvious expression, his brows lifted emphatically. âYou know why.â
I sighed, giving him an exasperated look. âYouâre really going to make me-â
In one quick movement, heâd leaned forward, simultaneously pulling my hands so I fell closer to him. His full lips claimed mine and he freed one of my hands, his interlacing itself in my hair as he held my head to his own. He pulled back an inch, and I felt his breath against my lips.
âIâm in love with you.â He murmured, resting his forehead against mine. âI donât want to be friends anymore because I want to be much more than that.â
My heart was hammering in my chest. Iâd been waiting to hear those words, or any words like them, from him for so long. I leaned forward, kissing him once again. He reached around me and pulled my legs apart, tugging me onto his lap to straddle him as he deepened the kiss. My legs wrapped around his waist, his thighs supporting my backside. His tongue danced with mine and I moaned softly against his kiss, my hands entangled in his hair. He gently bit my lip, one hand reaching around to grab my ass and hold me closer to him while the other remained cupping the side of my face, stroking my cheek with his thumb.
âI love you too, Sebastian.â I said so softly it was almost a whisper.
His coffee-black eyes flicked up and down my face, taking in every inch of it. He breath came and went quickly, and I could feel his excitement brush against me. I stroked his cheek, running my thumb along the spray of freckles there.
âYouâre beautiful.â He murmured, leaning in to kiss me again.
âIâm really going to have to cancel that date.â I said and groaned, breaking off the kiss. I was already feeling bad for Ominis.
âYes, you are.â He confirmed, laying me on my back and hovering over me, his strong arm underneath my waist to prop me up. He began kissing down the crook of my neck, then back up until he got to my ear. âBecause youâre mine now.â

5 | Red Masterpiece
Pairing: Ominis Gaunt x Fem!Reader
Serpents and Roses
That night, as you walk back to the great hall for dinner, you approach your brother where all the professors gather before eating. You can see him talking to the other professors, including Sharp.
"James," you smile at him, comforted just by seeing his face.
"Y/N," he grins back. "How'd your day go?"
"Well, I think. I made a potion and a new friend," you tell him.
"So glad to see you're adjusting so well Miss. Y/N," the woman beside James says in a genuinely happy voice. "My name is Mirabel Garlick. I will be your herbology professor. I am a muggle born, too."
"You were?" the both of you ask at the same time, causing her to laugh.
"Yes," she nods. "Which makes me wonder if being in these classes will help Y/N become a proper witch."
"It'll be a lot of work," Sharp joins in. "You'll have to keep your mind on your studies instead of Gryffindor boys."
"Don't pay him any mind," James grunts, looking at you sternly.
"Seriously? Do we have to have the 'girls can be friends with boys' talk again?" you frown at James.
"Go eat. Stay with your Ravenclaw friends and keep away from the troublemakers."
"Trouble makers?" you repeat, rolling your eyes.
"That's right," James nods.
"Don't worry, James. I believe she'll be just fine," Garlick smiles at you sweetly.
You return the gesture at her before turning away and walking over to the Ravenclaw table. You did want to talk to James- alone- but you suppose you'll have to fill him in on your day another time.
As soon as you sit down, Luna and Amit smile at you and begin to bombard you with questions.
"How was your first day?" Luna asks you excitedly.
"Did you have fun?" Amit grins.
"Um, I'm not sure fun is the word I would use," you chuckle, shaking your head.
"Really? What did you think of your class? I can't imagine potions class was too strenuous on the first day," Amit says.
"We had to make a potion and Professor Sharp wasn't too keen on me asking a Gryffindor for help," you sigh as you look past them toward the Gryffindor table where you easily spot your new red-haired friend.
"He's a tough professor, but he's good. He doesn't like students to get distracted, especially not when they're new to his class. But don't worry, Y/N, you'll have more than a few chances to impress him," Amit tells you.
"Who was that Gryffindor you were talking about?" Luna then asks. "Maybe we know him."
"Garreth Weasley," you say, watching his face light up at the mention of his name.
"Weasley?" Luna and Amit repeat in unison.
"You know him?" you ask.
"Well, sort of," Luna begins to explain. "He's definitely known throughout the school as... chaotic."
"He's a danger to us all," Amit jokes, earning him a nudge from Luna.
"You two are ridiculous. He was really nice to me," you tell them.
"Was he now?" Luna asks, raising an eyebrow.
"I suppose he's not too bad if you're a pretty girl. Just keep an eye out," Amit rolls his eyes.
"Did you two not just hear me? He was nice," you insist.
"If you say so," Luna shrugs. "He definitely is cute so I can see why you're so entranced by him."
"Entranced," you repeat with a snort. "It's my second day. He was friendly to me. I'm not going to turn that down and look like the school's newest snob."
The two of them laugh and change the conversation to other things. Then, after dinner, the three of you make your way back to the common room.
"I'm going to go meet a friend for a bit," Luna tells the two of you. "I'll be back in a little while."
"Have fun," Amit waves her off.
"I think I'm going to get started on some homework. Sorry if I'm no fun," you smile at him as you sit with your potion's book in front of the fireplace.
"It's okay. I've got a book to read," he says, sitting across from you.
"What book are you reading?" you ask, trying to figure out what other kinds of books are in that library.
"Oh, it's this really cool muggle science fiction book. It's got a bunch of aliens in it," Amit grins. "They have such wild imaginations."
You nod, only half listening as he continues to describe the book to you. You find yourself looking through the pages of your potions textbook instead, trying to figure out what half of the things are in it.
"Hey Amit," you ask, risking looking like an idiot. "What are pixie wings?"
"Huh? What do you mean? How do you not know what-" he begins. You gulp, hoping he won't press you too much. And thankfully, he doesn't. "Sorry, sometimes I forget you're new. It might've been called something else at your old place. Pixie wings are a potion ingredient."
He then goes on to give you a mini-lecture about pixie wings and it's too much information. Amit is smart, perhaps too smart for his own good. "I'm surprised you haven't seen them at your old school."
"Oh, we were definitely taught things a lot differently than here," you laugh. "You wouldn't believe the differences."
"Hm," he nods. "Alright then."
After a few minutes, Amit excuses himself and walks to his dorm. You decide not so long after that you should get some rest, too.
***
The next morning you wake up and rush to your Defense Against the Dark Arts class. Again, you use the map that James gave you to find your way there. Once you push the door open, your heart drops. The first thing you see is a roomful of students with their wands out, practicing.
Your teacher, an older-looking woman, approaches you and says hello. She introduces you to the rest of the class and places your hands in hers. "I am Professor Hecat. I feel beyond lucky to have a muggle in my class. I can't say this has ever happened before," she beams.
Your blood runs cold. You can hear a few snickers from the group and you try to focus on the woman before you.
"I know what you're all thinking," she addresses to the class. "But I can assure you that you are wrong about Miss. Bennett."
"What is a muggle doing in our class... No, Hogwarts?!" a brown-haired Slytherin asks.
Just as Professor Hecat opens her mouth, you defend yourself first. "Oh, you know, just casually schooling the wizards and witches on how to actually defend themselves," you shrug, earning a laugh from the man behind the one challenging you.
"Miss. Bennett," the professor calls out, but you ignore her.
"Thought I'd show you all a bit of muggle charm. Hogwarts is in desperate need of a bit of non-magical excellence, and who better than me to deliver, right?" you smirk, causing the Slytherin's jaw to drop and earning a respectful nod from his friend.
Looking at the friend, you see a man with pale eyes and a small smile on his face. He is quite handsome. If only he wasn't friends with such a dickhead. He places his hand on his friend's shoulder, only for his friend to shrug it off. "Apologies for my friend," he tells you. "Sebastian is an idiot."
The grin growing on your face is enough to send Sebastian spiraling. "And who the hell are you?!"
"Sebastian! Language!" Professor Hecat scolds him.
"No, no," you smile. "I can take it. Who am I? Only a muggle who can teach you how to properly kick a person's ass. I'll even give you a lesson, free of charge."
"Alright, Y/N, that's enough," the professor speaks up, silencing the room.
"After class, Bennett. I challenge you to a duel," Sebastian smirks.
"Very well," you nod. "And what shall we play for? A bet, perhaps?"
"Y/N," Professor Hecat tries again.
"If I win," Sebastian begins, "you must bow down and admit that wizards are superior. No muggle can beat a wizard in a duel."
"Very well," you nod, "but if I win, you have to admit that I am smarter and more skilled than all of you put together."
"You've got yourself a deal, Bennett," Sebastian nods. "Now, let's get started. It's time for us to prove who's the real wizard, here."
"Bennett and Sallow! If you can't control yourselves, I'll have no choice but to remove you from my classroom," Hecat's voice booms, causing the room to fall silent.
"I was just-"
"Save it, Mr. Sallow," the professor snaps.
"Professor, is dueling against the school's policy?" you ask her sweetly.
She gulps, not answering your question until you press her further. "No. It's not against the rules as long as it's agreed to by both parties."
"Put it here, Sallow," you smirk, extending your arm out to the Slytherin. "We've got ourselves a bet."
Sebastian takes your hand and shakes it roughly. "See you after class, muggle."
