Depois de nove anos retorno à São Luís. Caminhei novamente pelas ladeiras da ilha, mergulhei nas experiências das festas populares de raízes afrondígenas de lá. Uma cidade que é um museu a céu aberto, que nos permite vivenciar o Brasil profundo das amefricanidades de Lélia Gonzalez. Foi um reencontro com a cidade que me faz pensar sobre as nossas origens, sobre a formação socioespacial brasileira. Mas, foi também um reencontro com a Bruna dos 27 anos, que fazia mestrado no Prodema e o curso de audiovisual na Vila das Artes. Eu tava, naquela época, aprendendo a nadar nas marés da fotografia, da imagem alteradade. Que bonito esse reencontro da Bruna de ontem com a de hoje e tendo a cidade de São Luís como testemunha. Espero não tardar a retornar à ilha do reggae. E tecer um pouco mais da minha história nas paredes, ladeiras, no ritmo e na comida maranhense. De certo modo, tudo isso me faz não esquecer qual trajeto quero trilhar, pois, Como diz Manoel de Barros:"eu não caminho para o fim, eu caminho para as origens".

🥁 File this under #WowArchitecture: When the museum is art unto itself, Shigeru Ban’s architectural design for the @aspenartmuseum had us straight up Inspector-Gadgeting around every corner. 👀 Moving through and around this space is a real treat: the light pours in all around, the interconnectedness of varying materials blend seamlessly, the beauty of Aspen is a highlight with the design open to nature and an inherent harmony felt. 💡There are 5 key architectural features: the grand stair that connects indoor and outdoor, first floor and third floor (and creates a beautiful “engawa” space - referenced in Japan as an in-between indoor/outdoor space that creates a welcoming openness); the moving glass room elevator; woven wood screen (wraps the exterior; it’s a composite material called Prodema—a dual-sided wood veneer with a substructure of an amalgam of paper and resin. Project Description:

The Third Ward Art District is a site redevelopment and adaptive reuse of an existing 1900s warehouse in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward. The goal of the project is to develop an affordable community where artists can live, work, play, and prosper in company of artists of all mediums and restore the vibrant creative culture that is the foundation of Milwaukee’s Third Ward. The client expressed a desire to pursue a Net Zero or Net Zero Ready design. In order to fulfill the Net Zero goal, solar panels occupy 50% of new and existing roof area on site as well as green roofs on the apartment and studio buildings. An extensive stormwater management system consisting of rain gardens and retention basins can handle all run-off from new and existing roof structures on site for a 5” rain event with an additional 7,400 cubic feet of capacity for run-off from impervious surfaces on or near the site. Geo-thermal loops integrated into the concrete filled steel piles connect to VRF units in each apartment. For the artist apartments I developed a set of criteria for treatment of the brick façade which cantilevers over the ground floor. Wherever an opening or recess occurs in the brick skin, Prodema natural wood panels are exposed to reflect the heavy timber CLT and GluLam construction of the interior. At terminations, openings, and recesses of the brick a reveal detail occurs revealing the layered construction of the envelope while still concealing the thickness of the brick.

Aspen Art Museum | Shigeru Ban Architects

O Museu de Arte de Aspen tem como proposta sua a transparência e integração do ambiente externo e interno. O projeto conta com uma casca de madeira logo na entrada na fachada norte e um teto inteiramente formado por uma malha de madeira. A malha é feita de um material sustentável chamado Prodema, composto por papel e resina encaixada dentro de um folheado de madeira. A estrutura do telhado, cobre o espaço interior do último pavimento e cria uma intercalação, onde a luz natural passa através das coberturas e forma fechos de luz na parte coberta do terraço. Na parte descoberta, claraboias fornecem iluminação natural para a galeria de exposições no pavimento inferior.

No interior do edifício, existe além da recepção, galerias e espaços de armazenamento das obras, um café, um bar, deck no telhado e espaço para exposições ao ar livre, salas educativas e uma loja. Para chegar aos andares superiores existe a opção de ir pela Sala Móvel, o elevador de vidro assim por Ban apelidado, ou subir pela grande escadaria.

O projeto é inteiramente voltado para questões sustentáveis, entre elas:

A abrangente iluminação natural reduz o uso da energia elétrica.

Existe um sistema de aproveitamento e tratamento da água da chuva.

O uso de piso permeável.

Processos construtivos com poucos resíduos.
