With that I'm closing the doors for this spooky season. The booping and trick or treaters visiting was fun!
The spooky pfp will hang around, I've been meaning to redraw my normal pfp for a while now... I'll be rambling about the costume under the cut but yes there was more to it than the top half lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's my initial sketches for the outfit. I basically had the rough idea down with the first sketch, I think it was just getting the collar details and what the undershirt was. For the gloves those got tore up which is why they look rugged in that close up. With how my sona's head is shaped plague doctor felt like the obvious choice, I also have a plague doctor mask irl too
I never finished the bottom half bc I didn't know what I wanted to do with the belts and the skirt/kilt was a compromise on the fact my sona doesn't wear pants (you see those legs? at best they have a shot in fitting in shorts)
Tumblr media
Fun fact: I'd never actually tested the colours till the pfp and that's the pallet I used in the above post. The cane was an add-on just for the fun of it
Dunno what I'll dress up as next year, but I got time to think it through

Ooh omg congrats on the 1K!!
I would like to request 5 of clubs with Jack Hughes please. (Maybe with an exhibition kink 🙈)
Tumblr media
This isn't quite as clubs-like or exhibitionist, but I've been feeling slightly out of the mood today (I think because I had to make a lesson about the American relationship with Native Americans during colonization... not the most uplifting topic). Hoping for something better tomorrow!
Also I'm watching a 2.5 hour video essay about One Direction's history right now. I love that people can make whatever content they want, and they usually give it their all :)
after typing that i'm realizing that statement is really meta since i'm writing nhl fanfic. sigh. ok fine i guess i enjoy my own content whatever
Warnings: fingering, exhibition, Paul Mescal in Gladiator II WC: 592
Tumblr media
You’ve never been one to keep trivial secrets from Jack. He’s your boyfriend and you are thoroughly against miscommunication. Your openness has resulted in plenty of fun jokes for Jack, the latest of which has landed you in your current predicament. You’re in the bougie movie theater that Jack always splurges on, sitting in a plush recliner and watching Gladiator II. Jack thought this would be a fun date night, because– well– you love Paul Mescal.
It’s something about his nose. It’s very Roman, which you find sexy. Jack knows this, and knows that you’ve particularly enjoyed the costume design of the film, even joking with you about dressing up like a gladiator for Halloween.
He hadn’t mentioned it again until this morning, which is when he told you that he’d bought some tickets for the film. It had actually been out for a while now, so the theater is relatively empty, but you’d never had the time to see the movie. Jack, after all, had wanted to see it with you… probably because he wanted to pull something like this.
He knows that Paul Mescal is your celebrity crush. You’ve been repeating that to yourself since you realized that it’s the motivation behind Jack’s movements. His touch had been casual at first, just tapping his fingers against your thigh. He’d convinced you to wear a skirt by claiming you’d be going to dinner afterward. You expect that his real reason is that he wanted easy access.
His fingers are inside of you now, petting over your walls. He’s teasing you, moving slowly when Paul Mescal isn’t on screen and thrusting into you at a quicker pace when your crush graces your vision with his presence. Jack also particularly likes drawing circles over your clit as he moves inside you, constantly keeping you on the edge.
“Jack,” you hiss, ready to try and convince him to stop, even though you only half-want his movements to cease. You’re flushing a bit, eyes darting around the theater to make sure no one is watching you. There are only a few other groups in the theater: another couple two rows ahead, a group of university-aged girls near the middle of the theater, two middle aged women in the front row. All in all, there are less than fifteen people in this theater.
“Be quiet, baby. I can’t have everyone hearing you,” Jack murmurs. He shoves a handful of popcorn into his mouth, continuing his movements. He’s acting completely normal, even as your cunt squeezes him tight.
You bring your hand down and clutch his wrist, trying to halt his movements.
Jack turns to you. “Do you really want me to stop?” He asks quietly. Paul Mescal starts speaking on the screen and Jack’s eyes flicker away from you to check the screen. His thumb increases its pace against your clit and his fingers flex rapidly inside of you.
You whimper a bit, clenching down involuntarily. Your knuckles turn white while your fingers grip his arm. Your hips jolt.
Jack quirks an eyebrow.
“No,” you admit, loosening your grip and allowing him to continue.
“Just pay attention to Paul,” Jack encourages, smirking at you and brushing a kiss against your cheek. “I’m just here to help you along, baby.”
You scoff quietly, cringing a bit at his words.
Jack clocks your reaction, his face breaking out in a tiny smile. He giggles to himself, tracing the line of your jaw before mouthing against your throat. “Don’t laugh. We’re having fun. You, me, and your other boyfriend.”

(After Halloween)
*Adam woke this morning on cloud nine, Lucifer told him he loved him, Lucifer made love to him, and they had so much fun at the Halloween party, Adam practically melted when he felt a hand run itself through his hair and gently scratch his scalp*
Lucifer: How did you sleep last night?
Adam: It was the best sleep I had in a while, I always loved you and you gave me everything I wanted and more.
Lucifer: You deserve it, tonight I am taking you to Ozzie’s.
Adam: What is Ozzie’s?
Lucifer: A really nice club in the Lust Ring and afterwards we are going to go to the best resort where I am going to make passionate love to you.
*Adam felt giddy in a way he never felt before, he never really had a relationship and had a relationship where he got to go on dates, the less said about his marriage to Lilith the better, it was nice being married to Eve, but they had to spend most of their time having children and starting humanity, Lucifer was also Adam’s soulmate, they got dressed and went downstairs, Lucifer started to make pancakes for everyone, Adam sitting close to Lucifer while Lucifer let Adam sample a little bit of everything he was making, Alastor watched in disgust as Adam and Lucifer were being curtesy, his plot to use Lilith to keep Lucifer from Adam failed, Charlie and Vaggie walked down*
Charlie: Are you excited for Thanksgiving?
Adam: You celebrate Thanksgiving in Hell, that is mainly an America thing.
Lucifer: Well we have Sinners from all around the world and they bring their traditions with them, you will see some people celebrating Dia De Los Muertos today. Also it is an excuse to have a big feast.
Adam: Well unlike Halloween, we celebrate Thanksgiving in Heaven because we must talk about what we are thankful for.
Vaggie: It is nice that they at least allow us Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Charlie: What are you two doing today?
Lucifer: I am taking Adam on his first date.
Charlie: That sounds fun.
*Adam felt Angel Dust hug him*
Angel Dust: I knew you would get your short king.
Adam: I am so happy, Luci is talking me to Ozzie’s.
Angel Dust: Lucky, I am taking you shopping so you can be gorgeous tonight.
*after they had breakfast, Angel Dust and Cherri Bomb took Adam to the mall for shopping*
Adam: so what kind of place is Ozzie's?
Angel: It's classy mixed with sex. So classy sex. The entertainment I hear is amazing that place is always booked.
Cherri: Perk of dating a King I guess, you can get in anywhere you want.
They were looking through all the clothes and Adam left the makeup picking to Angel and Cherri, he didn't have the first clue on what would look good or even how to do it for himself.
It would probably look like a toddler drew on his face with a Sharpe.
Adam: I've never been on a date before.
Angel: Never? But you were married.
Adam: Yeah but it wasn't, hi nice to meet you let's get to know each other. It was here's your wife go fuck like rabbits and make babies.
Angel: Never thought about it like that.
Cherri: What about a dress?
Adam blushed: I'm still a man you know.
Angel: You're one curvaceous babe my good dude, show off what big daddy G gave you.

Frights and Fractures☆
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Prompt☆: Character accidentally gets hurt in a spooky attraction and a scare actor breaks character to help. From this: prompt list
Summary☆: When Spencer Reid gets hurt during a haunted house, the scare actor is more than willing to lose their job in order to help.
Pairing☆: Spencer Reid x gn!reader
Warnings☆: Injury (fractured ankle). Physch major hate(jokingly)Mentions of gaslighting(in a humorous way though)
A/N☆:: Guys be warned, a lot of my humor is shown through Y/N and I think I'm a comedian 😀 Also first Spencer fic!
W.C☆:1.3k
Halloween was always a favorite of yours. You loved everything spooky and you adored the fall season. Once you were 'too old' for trick or treating, you decided to sign up as a scare actor at the nearest haunted house.
You got paid a decent amount and it was a really fun job. You got to make people's day all while giving them a small scare.
Your character was a fan favorite. You played one of the nurses in the abandoned asylum. Most visitors liked you because you were attractive but there was a small fraction of visitors who appreciated your humor.
You were creeping around the long and eerie hallways searching for your next victim when your eyes fell upon a tall and slender brunette who was obviously lost and desperately searching for whoever he came with.
He was dressed in a black, oversized sweater scattered with spiderwebs and pumpkins. He was actually pretty cute from what you could see. You smiled to yourself before remembering that you were on the clock.
You followed him around for a few minutes before you decided to strike. You pressed a button on your remote which was supposed to cause a wheelchair prop to slowly roll across the floor, a tame spook to get started.
However, when you pressed the button it prompted the wheelchair to roll out onto the floor at a faster speed than it was programmed to, causing the man to topple over before he could even register what was happening.
You gasped quietly and covered your mouth contemplating whether you wanted to laugh or go help. Technically you weren't allowed to break character or interact with visitors outside of scaring them, but once you heard the man groan in pain you quickly approached him.
"Hey, you okay?" you asked kneeling down next to him.
"What just happen?" he looked around searching for the source of his injury.
"You got wiped out by a run-away wheelchair," you said quietly, biting your lower lip to stifle a laugh, not being able to say that seriously.
"How ironic," he half-smiled before attempting to stand up but he winced quietly.
"Don't move," you insisted and began to reach out to inspect his ankle but quickly retracted your hands. "Do you mind if I check it out?"
"Do you have any actual medical training?" he asked teasingly.
"I'm CPR certified," you shrugged flashing him a small smile.
"Knock yourself out," he said and you gently squeezed his ankle watching his face for any signs of discomfort. You pulled away your hand when you saw his small flinch.
"Sorry," you apologized softly. "It might be broken," you concluded even though you had no way of knowing for sure.
"Actually, it's probably a lateral malleolus fracture. That's the most common type of ankle fracture," he corrected you.
"And what exactly is a lateral whatever you just said?"
"It's the outer part of your ankle," he clarified flashing you a small smile.
"Are you a doctor?" you wondered how he diagnosed himself without even giving it a second thought.
"Not the medical kind, but yes,"
"Ooh, that's impressive," you said in genuine amazement. "So what do you do for work? Are you a professor or something,"
"I'm a profiler," he informed you.
"Really? I've always hated phsych majors, this is even worse,"
"How so?" he inquired, searching for even the slightest bit of context.
"I feel like psych majors are just training to be professional gaslighters." you explained, you were joking but there was a small hint of seriousness in your tone
"But you play a nurse in an asylum" he pointed out.
"True," you smiled, "I should ask to play a different character,"
"Did you know that clinical psychologists make up the single largest specialty area in psychology?" he asked you and you smiled at the way his eyes lit up as he spoke.
"Clinicians are psychologists who assess, diagnose and treat mental illnesses," he elaborated with a bright smile and you listened attentively as he spoke.
"Many individuals study psychology because they want to better understand themselves or those around them. Through learning psychology, you gain a deeper understanding of the many factors that affect human behavior." he added, moving his hands in dramatic motions as he spoke. You looked into his eyes as he spoke, genuinely paying attention to what he had to say, and as he finished talking he looked into your eyes as well maintaining the eye contact for a moment before looking away shyly.
"I'm rambling aren't I?" he asked with a shy smile.
"A little, but I don't mind." you flashed him a sweet smile. "Your voice is actually really calming."
"I'm not used to hearing that," he said quietly and flashed you a small smile of appreciation.
In the brief moment of silence that followed, you took the moment to take in his features.
He was the prettiest guy you had ever seen. He had soft, hazel eyes. A warm honey color with a slight hint of green. Your eyes traced the outline of his plump lips that were tinted a soft pink and he finally realized that you were checking him out.
"Were you flirting with me?" he asked, his cheeks a faint pink hue.
"For a profiler, you really suck at picking up social queues," you teased with a sly smile.
"I get that a lot" he said smiling sheepishly when your moment was suddenly interrupted by the sound of shouting
"Spencer!" you heard a deep, masculine voice yell.
"Reid?" you heard a more feminine voice yell.
"Over here!" he yelled and you discovered his name was Spencer. Suddenly, a group of 2 women and a man approached the two of you.
"We lose him for 5 minutes and he somehow manages to get hurt," the dark-haired woman said to the bald man.
"I think pretty boy did it on purpose," the bald man said gesturing towards you and the brunette man and a red-headed woman, wearing the most flashy and unique outfit you had ever seen, ruffled Spencer's hair.
"Looks like he's in good hands," the redhead said smiling at you.
"Well unfortunately, I'm not a real nurse." you smiled at the woman.
"Is it bad?" she asked.
"Lateral malleolus fracture," you and Spencer said at the same time and shyly smiled at one another.
"Right," the brunette woman deadpanned sharing a look with the man next to her. "And you are?"
"Y/N, and you three are?"
"Penelope Garcia," the red-headed woman introduced herself.
"Emily Prentiss," the darker haired woman said flashing you a small smile.
"Derek Morgan," the bald man introduced himself with a small, playful wink and Spencer rolled his eyes.
"Do you flirt with every one you see?" Emily asked with an eye roll of her own.
"So, I'm assuming you guys are profilers too?" you asked the group.
"Those two yes, I'm a technical analyst," Garcia explained.
"I feel extremely unsafe right now," you joked and Spencer shook his head with laughter.
"Unsafe?" Morgan asks tilting his head visibly confused
"Inside joke," you and Spencer said at the same time and began laughing even harder.
"You guys have been alone for like 5 minutes and you already have an inside joke?" Prentiss asked sharing a look with Garcia and curling her lips in a small smirk.
"My man," Morgan said with a smile patting Spencer on the back and you watched as his cheeks turned a faint hue of crimson.
"Are you done?" Spencer asked pretending to be irritated with the man even though he was biting back a smile.
"You should probably go see an actual nurse now," you suggested with a half-smile gesturing towards his ankles.
"Right," he said with a slight pout and it took everything in you not to kiss it away. Morgan and Prentiss began to lift him up making sure he didn't put any weight on his ankle and you blew Spencer a kiss as they walked towards the exit.
"Wait, Y/N?" Spencer blurted, he turned around and flashed you a small grin,"Could I possibly get your number? You know, In case I need a second opinion?"

Happy Halloween!
A day of ghouls and specters, there isn't a better time to be a chthonic demigod - aka a demigod of the Underworld! So let's check in on some of our favorite chthonic kids and see how they spent their holiday:
Nico di Angelo
"I'm not exactly the most popular kid in Camp Half-Blood most days, but Halloween is different. We didn't really celebrate it back in my day in Italy, but I almost feel obligated now. I mean, I'm king of ghosts, I think that means I win Halloween, right? Anyways, I turned Cabin 13 into a haunted house for the other campers this evening. I've even got skeletons roaming around, and Jules-Albert is giving out candy. Usually people would be screaming about that, but the other campers love it. It's nice to be seen as cool for a change."
Hazel Levesque
"Camp Jupiter is busy during the holidays! Everybody's going trick-or-treating around New Rome. In the legion the cohorts are giving out candy to each other and holding a competition to see who can get the biggest haul. Even the lares are getting in on the fun trying to prank campers. Frank and I are on duty in the praetors' offices for any trick-or-treaters who come by. Usually some of the houses in New Rome stay open a little bit later though for the centurions once they get off of door duty, so we'll still have time to go wandering later. Plus, we get all the leftovers anyways, so we'll have plenty of treats regardless!"
Clovis
"Oh, Lou Ellen and I made a deal for tonight - she's going as Kiki from Kiki's Delivery Service, and she said if she can turn me into a cat for the evening she'll split her candy with me 50/50. And I get to nap the whole time. Not too bad of a deal for me, honestly. If I want I could honestly probably make the rounds again for seconds, since nobody would know I was already there. Total win-win."
Lou Ellen Blackstone
"Clovis probably already told you about my costume, but what he doesn't know is that my cabin is going all out. We're not gonna let Cabin 13 win spookiest haunted house, at least not without a fight! Sure he has skeletons and ghosts, but like, c'mon! That's gotta be cheating, right? Us Hecate kids take Halloween very seriously, of course. Especially trick-or-treat. Let's just say we tend to prefer the trick half a little bit more. We'll see how many campers get turned into animals by the end of the night. Unfortunately, Clovis doesn't count towards that."
Alabaster Torrington
"Well, normally I would be spending Halloween with my family, but seeing as the gods exiled me, I can't. That's alright though - I have a plan. You see, me and Dr. Claymore are gonna go scam campers out of their candy. I may be exiled, but as long as I stay outside the borders of Camp Half-Blood, I'm not breaking the rules, and they never said anything about Mistforms. And I might be able to say hi to my half-siblings while I'm there. Just as long as nobody rats me out to Chiron we're good. I'm sure I can convince them to keep quiet in exchange for king-sized candy bars. Oh, someone's coming - gotta go!"
What a spooky bunch! We hope you all had a happy and safe Halloween with plenty of treats.

Part of my confusion about "Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria" is that it's really just... not a good term? It doesn't really reflect what it's supposed to, which is the idea that some teenagers essentially take on a trans identity as a sort of social role spurred on by friend groups.
I think that this is likely to be actually true in at least some sense, so I was amazed at how unconvincing the Littman paper which coined the term actually is. The parental narratives advanced in that paper are just unbelievable on their face.
Ever since the gay rights movement I've felt that our vocabulary for talking about this stuff is deliberately incredibly stupid, for reasons I haven't quite been able to suss out.
In the gay rights battles, everybody got together and agreed that there were exactly two possibilities:
Gay people are born that way
Gay people made a choice to be gay
I think this is really dumb because those are really obviously not the only two options, and also because there's lots of biological "born this way" things we still treat or try to eliminate, and lots of choices that are still incredibly important to protect.
But also, like, okay, think about sexual fetishes. Say you have a guy with a cheerleader fetish. Cheerleaders are a contingent social phenomenon; no 12th century Breton had a cheerleader fetish. The possibility of such a fetish arose with the invention of the cheerleader.
But it's just as obvious that people do not choose their fetishes the way that they choose, say, a new car. Nobody says, "After listing out the pros and cons, I felt that having a cheerleader fetish was the best choice, because it combines a little bit of exotic spice while still being mainstream enough that it can't be used as blackmail if people find out about it."
No, one day you just realize that you think cheerleaders are really hot.
I do tend to think that gender identity is, for most people, a lot less immediately set in stone than sexual orientation is. My personal impression is that the vast majority of people start to understand very quickly whether they are attracted to men, women, or both, and that they only tell themselves differently because they fear social censure.
I'm not really convinced that the same is true of gender identity; I think that for an extremely large number of people it does function a bit more like a fetish, in that there are people who encounter the idea for the first time, go, "Huh, yeah that's cool or whatever" and after repeated encounters come to think, "Actually I am really into this."
I'm very, very suspicious of the tendency to then assert that this must inherently, then, be a discovery of something that always existed within the person since birth.
There's also the fact that gender roles exist, and people want to be legible to people around them.
For a lot of people, dressing up as a vampire on Halloween is fun, but dressing up as a vampire to go grocery shopping in June would be deeply embarrassing. Because on Halloween all the people around you understand why you're dressed that way and your dress makes you part of a larger social whole; in June you're going against the grain, marking yourself out from the people around you, probably drawing stares and hidden smiles.
Because sex roles in our society are so set in stone, there is a certain extreme dissatisfaction with not following them, even when allowed to do so.
I can wear chokers and frills and pretty hair ribbons if I want, but the women around me can do that anywhere in the country and have people think of it as normal, as obvious, rather than *a statement*.
Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria, from reading the Littman paper, seems to refer to a parental conviction that their child essentially got the idea to be trans from a peer group who convinced them they were trans despite a lack of gender dysphoria in childhood.
Like I said, the general narrative is really, really hard to believe at face value, for example:
A total of 63.8% of the parents have been called “transphobic” or “bigoted” by their children for one or more reasons, the most common being for: disagreeing with the child about the child’s self-assessment of being transgender (51.2%); recommending that the child take more time to figure out if their feelings of gender dysphoria persist or go away (44.6%); expressing concerns for the child’s future if they take hormones and/or have surgery (40.4%); calling their child by the pronouns they used to use (37.9%); telling the child they thought that hormones or surgery would not help them (37.5%); recommending that their child work on other mental health issues first to determine if they are the cause of the dysphoria (33.3%); calling the child by their birth name (33.3%); or recommending a comprehensive mental health evaluation before starting hormones and/or surgery (20.8%)
So, like, the whole tenor of the paper is that these are basically very liberal parents who are sort of being cut off by their kids for no reason, but like...
This is typical of the general weasel wording used by Littman. Are the third of parents who called their kids by pronouns they used to use going, "She - Oops, he, I'm sorry" one time and getting blasted? Do they claim to be trying but just get it wrong literally every single time? Or do they just flat out refuse to call their child by their preferred pronouns?
When my brother was first entering high school, he joined the Sea Scouts, a division of the Boy Scouts dedicated to learning about sailing. He later entered a maritime college and has had a succession of maritime jobs, which will likely be his career for the rest of his life.
Is that the result of social contagion or was he born that way?
I think the question is obviously both absurd and irrelevant.

Corroded Coffin Fest Halloween - Pride
Summary: Jeff goes head to head with his Dungeon Master.
Word Count: 1313
Rating: T
Warnings/Themes: Friendship, humor, angst, typical DnD shenanigans, Dungeon Master and Player dynamics (Eddie is a ruthless DM, but his players are little assholes and he isn't a tyrant).
Check Out the Main Post for @corrodedcoffinfest here! Thank you to @thisapplepielife for organizing another wonderful event for us! I already told them in a DM, this is not only giving me a chance to tickle the old keyboard but read everyone else's work when reading gets to be a challenge between work and writing bigger series. I've set time aside for this. I'm ready! THANK YOU AGAIN.
Also thank you Reddit for giving me some fuel for this because I hate writing combat sequences. The gameplay probably isn't accurate but I don't care. If you see something you know is wrong, no you didn't.
Tagging @the-unforgivenn @1lostsoul0fishbowl upon request.
You can find my masterlist here.
Please do not interact if you are not 18+.
Enjoy!

Friday, October 25th 1985
There wasn't much in life that was as daunting as staring across a table at Eddie Munson while he was DM'ing.
That's not to say that their sessions weren't fun. On the contrary, it was probably the most fun they had in their lives.
But when all of the players fell into one of Eddie's little traps, there was a certain sparkle in his eye that would make their hearts plummet directly into their asses.
Tonight, Jeff was determined not to let it get to him.
It was hard to see any progress in Dungeons and Dragons sometimes, especially when campaigns ran for weeks on end. Not only did you need to advance the plot, but you had to have character growth, not to mention leveling up. Plus, with Eddie's elaborate plots, there were endless clues and red herrings in the gameplay that would make or break future sessions.
Oh, and combat; you never knew if a wrong move would kill you.
That's what they were faced with right now. A dungeon full of adversaries, and a big bad slime monster. Half of their party was down, the rest with barely any hit points left, and morale was low.
So of course Eddie, crouched on his throne, smirked and laughed at each pathetic move they made.
"Back to the top of the cycle," he announced and pointed at Jeff. "You're up."
Jeff stood from his seat and squared his shoulders.
He knew he was a good player, had a great character, and a few tricks up his sleeve. Plus, he had been playing long enough to know how to get a leg up when he needed one.
They could turn this around; they had to.
"Alright," he began and stared at the board with calculating eyes.
He started narrating his series of moves; he crossed a distance to face the slime monster himself, attacked, then used his bonus action to cast Mage Hand and distract the monster by stoking a fire nearby.
The dice gods smiled down at him. All of his friends cheered as every move he made succeeded. Suddenly, they were motivated enough to rally, and Eddie grumbled as they cleared the field of enemies.
Soon, the slime monster was the only one that was left.
And it was Jeff's turn once again.
He smiled unabashedly as he calculated his move; he'd been picking up on some of Eddie's clues all night, and if he was right about one hunch, he could try something a little risky for a big payout.
Was this what Eddie felt like all the time?
"Don't get cocky, kid," Dustin quoted the legendary Han Solo and patted Jeff's shoulder in encouragement.
Jeff then announced his plan, something too simple for his sorcerer, but he knew would work.
"I'm going to try and suplex Slime Boy into that fire over there."
"What?" Everyone shouted, Eddie included.
"Why are you gonna use melee when you're a magic user."
"I've never seen something so stupid in my life."
"I just told you not to get cocky. It was nice knowing you guys."
"You sure you wanna do that Windforger?" Eddie questioned over the chaos.
"Yeah," Jeff nodded. "I'm sure."
"You know what," Eddie shrugged and crossed his arms over his chest. "I'll entertain this. I need an athletics roll. I'll even give you advantage for the...courage.
"But!" he shouted over the din of his friends voices. "I need you to tell me how you envision this is gonna play out first, should you succeed."
Jeff didn't hesitate.
"You've been leading us all along," he began. "Slimey is afraid of fire. He'd pretty much melt in it."
"Then cast fireball!" Mike shouted.
"I just used mage hand for a distraction," Jeff ignored him. "So there's a fire over here. If I can just...grapple him into the fire, he's done for."
His explanation only caused everyone to shout louder, but he got his dice ready, regardless of the protest. He knew he needed something pretty high, but with Eddie giving him advantage and his luck at rolling all night, surely this would pay off.
And he'd be a hero.
"Well wouldn't you know," Eddie's brow jumped in amusement. "Someone was paying attention. Go ahead and roll. What do you need...uh...15 to succeed sound fair? He is slime, after all."
Everyone leaned in to watch with bated breath as Jeff threw his dice onto the table. Time seemed to slow as they rolled and clattered.
"Come on," he muttered and envisioned his roll.
A 15 exactly. A 17 to be safe! Maybe even a Nat 20?
"Come on."
Yeah he would get a Nat 20.
"Come on."
The dice slowed down and then came to a halt.
And then the world came rushing back.
Eddie grimaced theatrically, tsking at his friend all the while, and the others wailed at the sight of two Natural 1's.
"It was a risky move," Eddie offered sympathetically, then his face morphed into a feral grin. "But not one that paid off."
Jeff stood there, frozen, as Eddie narrated the clumsy failure of a grapple and his character falling headfirst into the fire.
Tumblr media
Mercifully, it was a night where Jeff's mom decided she'd pick him up from Hellfire.
"Good," he thought as he grabbed his backpack and scurried out of the drama classroom. "Then I don't have to endure Eddie's gloating on the drive home."
He deserved it, though, didn't he? He'd made an absolute fool of himself, could have gotten everyone killed, all because he thought he was a better player than he was.
Once outside, he leaned against the building and tapped his foot impatiently as he waited for the sight of his mom's car. The guys patted his shoulder as they filed out and headed towards Eddie's van, each offering words of comfort that fell on deaf ears.
Eddie was the last one out, and he stopped silently at Jeff's side. He took a moment to light a cigarette, then once the younger boy seemed enough at ease with his presence, he spoke.
"You let your pride get the best of you."
"I know," Jeff grumbled.
"You're not a newbie, Jeffy," Eddie shook his head. "I would've expected a move like that from Wheeler or something."
Jeff stayed silent.
"Come on, you're not gonna laugh as I take cheap shots at Mike?" Eddie scoffed. "Man, you're really taking this harder than I thought."
"It's because I don't screw up like this," Jeff threw his hands out, as if presenting his failure to the world. "I'm the best player in that room. I pay attention, I take notes, I overanalyze about every single word that comes out of your mouth because I know you're out to fuck us all over."
"I do do that," Eddie nodded in agreement. "Don't I?"
"I should've known better," Jeff continued, hanging his head in defeat.
"No, hey," Eddie stopped him with a hand on his shoulder. "Don't say that. It was a risky move and damn, if it had worked, it would've been epic."
"But it didn't."
"That's the whole point of playing though." Eddie shrugged. "You try, you fail. You die. In this case, you're revived and live to see another day. You try again."
"I'm never doing anything as stupid as that ever again though," Jeff huffed.
"Yeah you will," Eddie clenched a fist and punched his chin softly. "And next time, you'll succeed."
Jeff looked up at him nervously, "You think so?"
"Of course I do," Eddie shrugged. "You are one of the best players in Hellfire."
He patted Jeff on the shoulder and then turned to head towards the van. He paused for a second though, and turned to call back to Jeff as he walked backwards.
"I wouldn't have even allowed the freshman to do a dumb move like that!"

DCA PROMPTOBER - DAY 2
PAPER PALS
"What about this?" Sun asked, for what seemed like the hundreth time, as you went back and forth on what new candle to buy for the Halloween season. He'd nag you about the safety risks later when he noticed, but right now he was too busy holding up a spooky decoration, "Skeletons are fun, right? Spooky scary?"
You glanced over at him absentmindedly, before your mouth fell open. Staring up at the plastic skeleton he was holding, you immediately shook your head, "Not when it's taller than you are! Where would we even fit that thing, huh?"
"Outside?" the robot guessed, as if you could just dangle the giant thing from a window or a fire escape. The rays around his head spun in a quick circle as he watched you, "Is that not obvious?"
"Riddle me this then," you rolled your eyes, impulsively reaching for a random candle. You'd decide if you liked it or not later as you placed it in the shopping cart, "How would we put it outside if we live in an apartment, Sun? I don't even think we can fit it into the cart, either!"
He struggled, trying to come up with an answer, and you wondered just how many google tabs and reddit pages him and Moon—because he was probably getting a kick out of seeing you so bewildered—were consulting. And a little after that, he huffed. Side eyeing you, without even having a face to emote you could tell he wouldn't give the skeleton up without a fight.
And since you couldn't tackle and fight a 7 foot tall animatronic, you had to come up with something else.
"Okay," you smiled, and watched as he perked up. Too bad for your boys, since you continued, "Why don't we just make some of our own Halloween decorations this year? It'd be a little more cost effective and more fun, anyway!"
He gave you a dubious glance, head tilted. And while you racked your brain for the perfect homemade decorations to make, you watched as he glanced from the large, plastic skeleton and back to you. And again.
It wasn't until Sun put a hand on his hip that he tentatively asked, "...What types of crafts?"
"How about baking? My Halloween Pinterest board is ready!"
"That's not a craft. And it's messy."
"Maybe, but you're getting good at it!"
Sun shook his head.
You tried again, "How about flying paper bats and floating paper ghosts?"
"Are you forgetting to account for our height, Starshine? We'd take everything down with us!"
Oh damn them, being so tall!
You crossed your arms, "Okay, well we could definitely carve pumpkins and maybe leave those out on the fire escape! Wouldn't that be fun?"
"Messy, more like it," he shook his head, "I've heard pumpkin guts are hard to clean up!"
"Who told you that? Google?" you teased, as he tensed up and began to ramble about the accuracy of most search results.
You disagreed, but effectively stopped listening after a few seconds. Because while the internet was helpful, it made him so annoying sometimes, so you thought of what else you could do. Glancing around, you gazed at the Halloween decor littering the department store from afar, hoping inspiration would strike you.
There were a few inflatable ghouls, witches, and skeletons. All much too big, though, and you couldn't even imagine the price. And some large, dangling cobwebs littering the corner of the section, but how would you even make those at home?
Pursing your lips, you glanced back at Sun. His hands were up, as he was in full tangent over pumpkin guts and how to properly dispose of them. And scratching your head, you tried not to think about how he might get you kicked out of the store, but instead about what crafts he used to do with the children.
The Superstar Daycare was synonymous with artsy, and that bot had the kids constantly channeling their creativity. He had always said it was a good outlet for their energy and anything else they were feeling. So there was always some type of activity involving slime, finger paintings, or paper pals.
Oh shit, paper pals!
Those kinda cute, kinda creepy crafts that he had always insisted on making with the kids! Cheap, easy to make, and it was the perfect idea, especially for him and Moon's first Halloween out of the Pizzaplex—
Or would they hate it?
Ugh, you wanted to kick yourself for even thinking of it. The Pizzaplex had been horrible for everyone there! Whether they were human and working hefty hours there, or robotic and tethered to the sick company for eternity. And there was no doubt Sun and Moon had had it horrible. So you quickly got the thought out of your head, deciding it would be best to not rehash the past.
Too bad the bot had noticed it, too attuned to your behavior now. He cocked his head and swiftly shoved the skeleton into a random shelf. Which was amusing since it was so large, but you'd force him to put it back where it belonged later. You didn't want to imagine the poor retail worker that'd have to lug that thing back to its section, but his static smile was hitting you with the same emotion as a questioning frown.
Sun leaned down to you, awfully close, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," you said quickly, "Uh, I just lost The Game."
"The what?"
"I'll explain it to you later!" you chuckled uneasily, "Should we look at more candles?"
"You know those pose a fire risk in an enclosed space!" Sun shook his head before changing the subject, "What's wrong? Did you have another craft in mind for us?"
If you said no, he'd see right through you. And if you said yes and told him, there was no telling what his and Moon's reaction would be.
"Well..." you hesitated, tapping on the handrail of the shopping cart. The rhythm was the same one animatronic would tap, but you ignored that fact as you tried to muster up your courage instead. All you had to do was ask a simple question. Only problem was you weren't sure it wouldn't recall isolation and programmed obedience.
Sun's voice was soft as you stared up at him, "Use your words, Starshine."
"Okay," you sighed apprehensively and crossed your arms. Slowly, you asked, "...Should we make paperpals?"
You held your breath for a second. As if it could stop the either joyous or disastrous reaction you would receive. And if the latter happened, it was on you for even pushing it. The last thing you wanted was to make both of them uncomfortable, or bring back any awful memories from the past that would hurt them.
You couldn't bear it if that happened.
So as you opened your mouth to backtrack on the whole idea, you jumped. He had let out a shrill gasp, spooking you as he grasped your shoulders and exclaimed, "Should we? You didn't even need to ask!"
Good morning!!! Wrote this before class since i love to torture myself by coming in hours early to beat rush hour!!! oh well, gives me more time to write hehe. Also thank you so much for the reception on my last(and first) post, i appreciate it lots!!!

What do you mean Spencer missed Hallowen? Sacrilege!
Lil guy over here was actually wearing his best Crowley skin at a party until 3am with his dear brother - whom dressed as a demon himself, which I did not miss the joke on, mind you - some old and new friends and an angel of my own
Oh yeah, I managed to do it. Not exactly the angel I had planned to go with, but an angel nonetheless and, I'm happy to announce, we were not the only angelic&demonic lil pair at the party, or the only bloody Crowley and Aziraphale!
Now, I won't share any pictures my Aziraphale and I took together because the only 2 I have have a bit of a problem: the first one was taken by the worst photographer on the planet (my Aziraphale. She might be a dear, but Jesus Christ-), the second one is not for public eye, but we do have planned on meeting again and probably doing a little Christmas inspired photoshoot, so hopefully the actual photographic proof there works out better
Mind you, I'm a stubborn idiot. We walked to the club and yours truly might or might not almost have broken his nose, being literally saved at least twice by the angel that partnered up with me for the night, pulling me away from stray street lamps, because I refused to take off my shades for "My eyes are not cannot compliant because my contact lenses were delayed in transit and didnt arrive yet" reasons, so i could barely see a meter in front of my own nose.
Long Halloween party story short:
- My Aziraphale got hit on by one of my friends because apparently I inspire no fear on these God forsaken people
- I quickly figured out Crowley does not wear that ridiculous lil tie for style, but for "Being Dragged Around By The Angel Like a Bloody Dog" reasons
- I did end up finding 4 other Crowleys (a gorgeous one escaping the cliché the 4 other copies fell into and actually choosing Eden Crowley and, my man, all the kudos to her. Not only were her wings absolutely gorgeous, but they MOVED) and we absolutely ganged up together for most of the night
- I learned that one should never try and recreate the Apology Dance while wearing slippery shoes on a floor sticky with alcohol, at risk of breaking a bloody leg (not me. Did give me a good laugh, tho)
- A really cool guy with a Tenth Doctor costume joined the Crowley gang at some point and kept paying for free beers for the rest of us which <3 I will never forget you, random fellow David Tennant fan whose name I don't recall
- Most songs were, as predicted, spooky themed, Brazilian funk or portuguese romantic/folk, which can be fun, don't mind me, but they did play Under Pressure almost at the end of the night and the 3 remaining Crowleys - yours truly included - may or may not have completely butchered the song, trying to "sing" (I would call it yell, if we are being realistic) as loudly as we could and jumping through the whole "Can we give ourselves one more chance?" segment of the song as my Aziraphale and the girlfriend of one of the other Crowleys (wearing that really gorgeous Wednesday Addams black dress she wears for a party in the TVshow, ya know the one) very heavily pretended they didn't know us, but hey: brotherhood amongst demons and what not. If Queen starts playing and one Crowley starts yelling and jumping, the other Crowleys shall yell and jump. It's the law
- Dunnot! I repeat: DUNNOT! Try to pin a taller Aziraphale against a wall when you are a Tiny Crowley because you will end up embarrassing yourself
All this to say: Good Omens fans are terrifying. We are literally everywhere, and we are all equally bloody sick. Yet, my fellow crazies keep being some of the coolest people I've ever met in my life. I swear, this fandom is the gift that keeps on giving, and I lowkey own my wildest night in 23 years to this silly fandom
Alas, pics? I got some silly selfies i took while getting ready and sent to some of my fellow degenerates
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, as proof of the lighting at the party being absolutely shit:
Tumblr media
You cannot imagine how much I enhance the brightness on that damn photo and it was the only one I bothered taking for obvious reasons (yes, at that point my blazer and tie were being carried around by my Aziraphale because they were annoying the fuck out of me and I'm an arsehole that doesn't like to carry shit on his hands and my angel was a sweetheart)
Alas, I said I would do it and I did it
Happy belated Halloween, sweethearts

Okay Spooky, if you don't mind random questions- what's your favourite Disney movie?
Oh I don't mind at all! I'm actually quite tickled to get one out of the blue like this. nwn
But yes! Answer! Uh, well... Honestly a lot of the ones in the 80s and 90s hold a bit of sentimental value to me due to the fact that my dad worked on them. I would always leave the tape running through the credits until I spotted his name. ;w; In fact, on the DvD for Treasure Planet, if you go to the special features you can actually see him in the making of featurette, where they're asking him about how he sculpted the cyborg parts for John Silver! But, er, yes- favorites!
I would say, it's kind of a toss up between two-
I LOVE The Great Mouse Detective. It encapsulates a lot of stuff I like about that era of Disney, and I do enjoy me a good detective story. The animation is smooth and full of character, and has that rough-lined charm of the xerox era, and the backgrounds? Absolutely gorgeous. The story is fun and full of great comedic moments and also moments that downright terrified me as a kid (That Fidget jumpscare and everything leading up to it still gives me the heebie jeebies). But most of all, I love the characters and the dynamics between all of them, especially whatever Basil and Ratigan have going on. Dear lord. Really not surprising this movie ended up being part of my big list of inspos when writing Kilroy. XD
Second movie- and I know some people don't count it as Disney but to hell with it, it was in kingdom hearts so it darn well counts in my book- The Nightmare Before Christmas. GOD, this movie. When it first came out, I couldn't make it past the opening song because I was scared of the clown with the tearaway face. I shit you not. BUT once I was past that, it quickly became an obsession in my little kid mind. My mom actually showed me a PHOTO she has of me from when I was still in my single digits of age, in which apparently I had taken a black permanent marker to my face to draw rings around my eyes and lines on my mouth so I could look like Jack Skellington. My mom still has it framed in her living room to this day. XD But yes, I sang all the songs, I drew Jack and Sally and Zero all over whatever paper I could get my hands on, and I even made a christmas ornament of Jack's head out of sculpey that we put on the tree every year since. It was probably a huge reason that I became such a huge Halloween and spooky-things lover. And even to this day, it resonates a LOT with me as a movie about someone who is just experiencing the WORST artistic burnout. That's really what this movie is about, I've written a whole-ass essay of a post once rambling about Jack's Lament as a song because of the feels it gave me (i tried to find it but idk if i deleted it during a scare of tumblr copyright striking blogs for music a long while back or if tumblr's blog search function is just poop, either is possible).
Anyway I've talked your ear off long enough, my apologies for the long post but sadly that is what happens when you get me talking about stuff I like. <XD ; Every time I say I won't, but then I become this:

i've tasted blood (and i want more)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Yuuta Okkotsu/Reader
WC: 5,542
Content warnings: if you do not like blood, this is probably not the fic for you. Contains depictions of canon typical injury/vampire bites, as well as the symptoms and aftereffects of blood loss. Also contains some yan behavior/themes. Read at your own discretion. This fic also contains an explicit smut scene- no pronouns are used for the reader, but they are described to have a vagina.
Happy Halloween, witches! It only took me a month but I did finally finish my first Halloween fic. This one is a vampire au for JJK, featuring vampire!Yuuta. I had fun writing it, and I hope you have fun reading it as well <3
Title is from the song Toucha, Toucha, Toucha, Touch Me from Rocky Horror.
Minors and ageless blogs, DNI. If you don't have an age in your bio or pinned, I will block you.

Yuuta’s been looking tired lately. Well, more so than usual. Even though he was turned only recently, Yuuta has the bone-tired look of someone who has seen many centuries pass. The transformation had deepened his dark eyes and sharpened his cheekbones, creating more places on his already angular face for the shadows of exhaustion to cling to. You might say it in jest, but a part of you really does blame Gojo for working poor Yuuta into the ground.
However, as much as you would like to, you can’t place all the blame on Gojo. Since he’d transformed, you’d only ever seen Yuuta drink from the cold storage synthetic blood bags kept in reserve- never the donated ones, and he avoids the volunteer feeding drives like the plague. Shoko just shakes her head. She tells you that while it’s not healthy, it’s survivable, so she can’t force him to feed.
When you finally worked up the courage to ask him why he hasn’t fed, he just smiled that disarmingly charming smile of his and told you not to worry, he just wasn’t hungry. You had to drag your gaze away from the points of his fangs, gleaming ivory under the harsh lights of the clinic.
You’ve been close to vampires before; there are several in residence at the Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu Technical School. Maki feeds to maintain her incredible strength, and Nobara says that anything other than real blood will wreck her complexion. Both of them are beautiful- Maki in the way a leaping panther is beautiful, all lean muscle and coiled power, and Nobara in the way a roaring tiger is beautiful, brash and proud.
Yuuta is different. He is still beautiful, under the dark shadows that cling to his face like soot. But he is striking in the way a hurricane or car crash is. You look at him and can’t look away, in a way that feels a bit like morbid fascination in the face of disaster. He is a force of nature on his own- you’ve seen him spar on campus, and you know he’s the only person who can keep up with Maki or Gojo. You also know some of the tragedy that dogs his steps. People still go out of their way to avoid speaking Rika’s name near Yuuta, even after the dramatic mission last year where he finally put her soul to rest.
You’ve wanted to reach out, to offer him some comfort, especially after everything with Rika. For the most part he’s let you. He’ll sink into your embrace like it’s a soft bed after far too many hours awake, and you are content to hold and be held for as long as he needs.
These moments are unfortunately few and far between. Since he was turned, you’ve noticed Yuuta retreating further and further from you. He still acts like your friend, but he no longer drapes an arm around you, tucks his chin over your shoulder when he wants to see something you’re holding, or links your pinkies together when you stand close enough that your shoulders touch. You feel the loss of the casual intimacy keenly, and you can’t stop yourself from wondering what might have caused your best friend to pull away from you.
As a human with no special powers of your own, you assumed that Yuuta was simply gravitating towards people who shared his experiences and understood what he was going through. It didn’t make it hurt any less when he would startle when you walked in the room, look at you with those soulful dark eyes, and leave. You’d even noticed that when you stood near him, he would hold his breath. You knew that the turning sharpened mortal senses, but you didn’t think that you smelled quite that repulsive.
Since then, you’ve resigned yourself to this new state of your friendship. Yuuta has been through hell, more literally than most people, and you don’t want to put undue pressure on him to do something he obviously doesn’t want. So you let him keep his distance, opening your arms for him whenever he comes to you for comfort. You stroke his hair and murmur soft words in his ear, and try to tell yourself that those moments are enough when you watch him smile and laugh with his other friends.
You are caught off guard when he stumbles into the clinic in the middle of your graveyard shift. You are startled out of your studying by the loud crash of the metal doors being thrown open, and you look up to see Yuuta, fair skin and snow white uniform stained scarlet. His eyes are wild, and while his katana is sheathed you don’t miss the way he reaches for it when you jolt up behind the desk. You hurry around the desk, snapping on neoprene gloves before you reach for him, intending to check over the wounds that are still sluggishly oozing crimson.
Instead he bats you away, pressing one hand over his mouth and nose. “Stay away,” he growls at you, pushing past you into the clinic. He goes straight for the sink, turning on the faucet and leaning down to swallow mouthfuls of water. You watch him swish it in his mouth before spitting it out again, the water running red with blood.
“Yuuta, you’re hurt. Let me do my job and help you,” you try again, approaching slower this time, hands out as if you’re nearing a wounded animal.
He’s resting his head on his forearm, leaning against the wall. Pinkish water is still dripping from the corner of his mouth. “No. Don’t come closer,” he pants out. He’s trying to be commanding, but the state of his injuries and the way he’s struggling to regulate his breathing override any fear you feel.
You get close enough to carefully wrap a hand around one of his wrists, and you almost jerk your hand away in surprise. Yuuta’s normally cool skin is burning hot, pulse pounding so fast you can feel the beat of it on his wrist.
Gently but firmly, you pull him away from the sink, leading him to sit down on the nearest table. Now that some of the blood has been washed away, you can finally get a good look at his face. His eyes are bright, the bags gone. There’s even a flush to his normally pale cheeks. He looks healthier than he has in months, despite bleeding all over your operating table.
“What happened, Yuuta?” you breathe, looking him over. The immediate concern is two deep cuts, one reaching from the side of his neck down to his chest and the other biting deep into his side. You begin cutting away the tattered remains of his shirt and surprisingly enough he lets you, swaying forward to rest his head in the crook of your neck as he often does after rough missions. You feel him take a deep breath against your pulse point, the movement of air sending an involuntary shiver down your spine.
“Was tracking a witch,” he murmurs, voice muffled against your skin. “Set a trap for me. Tricked me into drinking some of her blood.”
You keep your hands steady, treating what you can reach until you’re forced to put a hand on the uninjured side of his chest and gently push him away so you can reach the rest of his injuries. He doesn’t let you get far, keeping you close with a dazed look in his eyes and a flush burning high on his cheeks. His symptoms make a little more sense now; this has to be his first taste of real blood since he was turned. He’s going to have to stay overnight for observation; there’s a chance he could go feral.
You move to go to the cold storage unit and get him a blood bag. You know he’s probably ravenous right now. Blood will help him heal, and hopefully take the edge off his appetite so you can call for Shoko. Before you can get more than a step away, he locks his arms around you and pulls you back to his chest. He runs his nose along the curve of your neck, hot panting breaths blowing at the delicate skin. You reach up, running a hand through his dark hair and he practically purrs, leaning into your touch.
“You gotta let me go, Yuu,” you tell him softly, trying to coax him into letting you go. “I’m just gonna get you something to eat and I’ll be right back.”
“Don’t want it.” The words would sound petulant under normal circumstances, but right now it sounds desperate. “Tastes bad.”
“You have to feed on something, Yuu,” you say. “You’re running on empty, and you need something in your stomach so you can heal.”
“I know,” he mumbles. “It just all smells bad. It makes me sick.”
A thought crosses your mind. “You could feed on me,” you suggest, running a calming hand up and down his spine. “I know it smells bad but it’s fresh, and it’ll help you heal the fastest.”
You feel the shudder that rips through him. He sits up a bit, swaying. “No,” he protests. “I can’t, I’ll hurt you.”
You’re already unbuttoning your shirt, sliding it off your shoulders to rest in the crooks of your elbows, far enough away that hopefully it won’t get too bloody. You grab his hand, catching his attention. “It’s okay, Yuuta. I trust you, I know you won’t hurt me.” You slide a hand up to the back of his neck, drawing him close to you. He resists at first, but lets you pull him back to your neck.
His nostrils flare and he groans. “God, you smell so good,” he whines against your throat. “I’ve been wanting this for so long. It’s not fair for you to do this to me.”
“You don’t have to hold back. Take what you need,” you tell him, holding him close.
Yuuta hesitates for another moment, before his hunger overwhelms him. You feel the cool touch of his spit-slick lips before the hot prick of pain as his lips pierce the skin of your neck. The pain is sharp and hot for a moment, before it melts outwards in a wave of pleasure that crashes through your limbs like the aftereffects of a supernova. Now you understand why the volunteer feeding drives are always packed- this rush, the spread of his venom in your bloodstream, triggers a cascade of hormones that drives you into a state of euphoria.
You feel boneless, relaxed and adrift in a sea of warmth with only a slight sensation of suction on the side of your neck to ground you. Everything is hazy and electric all at once. You hardly register the cool wall of the clinic pressing against your back, but each brush of Yuuta’s hands on your skin makes every hair on your body stand on end. Every touch of his hands as they roam your body and each movement of his lips on your neck sends a shockwave right to your core. Within seconds, you are dancing on the edge of a peak that promises to be more intense than anything you’ve reached before.
Helpless to do anything else, a wavering moan escapes your lips. Distantly, you register an answering one rumble from Yuuta’s chest. A moment later, you feel his lips leave your neck and you whine at the loss of sensation. Everything still feels hazy, and not in a fun way. You see Yuuta’s face swim in front of your vision, a mass of pale skin, dark hair and darker eyes that are wide with an emotion you don’t have the capacity to name right now. You know he’s saying something, his words are high pitched and panicked in a way that makes your oncoming headache worse.
The air of the clinic starts to feel bone-chillingly cold. You wrap your arms around yourself, trying to preserve the body heat that seems to be rapidly leaching from you. Yuuta’s fuzzy form dips out of your vision for a moment, returning with what you assume is one of the flimsy blankets kept in the clinic for such a purpose. He carefully drapes the blanket around your shoulders, but it’s not enough to keep you from shivering.
Ever so gently, you feel him scoop you into his arms. He sits down somewhere, cradling you to his warm chest so close that you can hear his heartbeat, pumping your lifeblood in his chest. The sound lulls you to sleep, pulling faster at the threads of exhaustion already dragging you down. As you fade away, you feel a faint press of lips to your forehead, and Yuuta’s gentle voice whispers to you, “I’m sorry. I know I should, but I don’t know if I’m strong enough to let you go after this.”
When you swim back to consciousness, the first thing you feel is a splitting headache. You open your eyes to the sharp pinpricks of early morning sun stabbing at your pupils. Somewhere next to you, you hear Shoko’s voice. “Easy there kid. You’ve had a rough night. Take these,” she presses two pills and a bottle of water into your hands.
You swallow the pills and the cool water gratefully. After the pills have kicked in, you sit up, grateful that the world is no longer swimming in front of you. “Where’s Yuuta?” you croak, touching a hand to your sore throat. Your fingers meet the edge of a bandage, pressed neatly over the two puncture wounds on the side of your neck.
“Had to kick him out this morning. The two of you gave me a hell of a scare,” she looks at you reproachfully. “Came into the clinic to find the two of you looking like you just escaped a Saw trap. At least the kid was lucid enough to stop the bleeding last night, or this would have been a much rougher morning for you.” Shoko gestures to the bandage on your throat. “Practically had to pry him off of you though. He wouldn’t leave until I swore to him that I would stay with you until you woke up. Which reminds me, now that you are awake, I have a significant amount of blood to clean up out there.”
You move to get up and help, and she pins you with a glare. “Absolutely not. You are staying put until you’ve slept more and eaten that,” she points to a wrapped bento box on the bedside table.
“I’m sorry, Shoko. I’ll make it up to you,” you say meekly.
“You can do that by not letting a half feral vampire feed on you,” she grumbles, pulling on gloves and grabbing the cleanup kit from the closet. “Also by not complaining when I stick your ass on cleanup duty for the next month.”
You toss her a salute. “Yes ma’am.” You bite back the smile that’s threatening to pull at your lips. You must have been in a bad state last night, for your normally cavalier boss to fuss over you so much. It feels good, to have someone care for you like this.
The thought does drag your mind back to Yuuta- your last memory from the night before is his voice, saying something about not leaving you, but he is nowhere to be found. Shoko did say something about kicking him out of the clinic, and you wouldn’t be surprised if she’d threatened him to stay away for some time. She does get protective of you. You can’t help but feel guilty; you knew the potential consequences of what you were offering last night and had done it anyway, and now you’re sitting pretty in the clinic and Yuuta is most likely facing serious consequences for circumstances that had been largely out of his control.
You lay back down, lost in thought. There’s a lot of last night that’s blurry. You remember pretty much everything until Yuuta bit you, and after that your memory gets foggy. However, there are some things that you do remember that you can’t seem to get out of your head. Up until now, you’d thought that Yuuta had avoided you because he couldn’t stand your smell. After last night, you’re not so sure of that anymore. Granted, he was half feral with hunger and definitely not in his right mind last night, but you can’t help but hope that this means that things will change between you two. It had sounded like he’d been forcing himself to stay away from you, and you find yourself hoping that he meant it when he said he wouldn’t let you go again.
You fall asleep with that thought on your mind, and a faint smile on your lips. Your dreams are strange, disjointed things, but throughout them all you see familiar dark eyes in different places and you can’t bring yourself to be afraid.
When you wake a second time, the light in the clinic has changed to the golden rays of the late afternoon. For the second time today, you find someone waiting for you at your bedside, and for the second time today it’s not the person you’re hoping to see.
Even though you’ve been studying at the technical school for years now, Gojo still unnerves you. He wears those strange dark glasses everywhere, and they somehow make him look more unsettling than the few times you’ve seen him without them. Sure, they hide his wide, electric blue eyes that are so bright they seem to glow on their own. But the glasses also accent the two smaller pairs of crystal blue eyes that sit on the edge of his cheekbones and just above his brow bone. Both sets of eyes meet yours as you wake, and you’re met with the strange feeling that he’d known exactly when you would open your eyes.
“Good morning, sleeping beauty,” Gojo greets you, making an act of looking up at you from the documents in his lap as if four of his eyes hadn’t been watching you wake up. “How are you feeling?”
“No worse than after a night out with Nobara,” you shrug your shoulders, reaching for the water bottle on your bedside table.
“Glad to hear it. You’re tough for a little lab rat,” he laughs, crossing his legs. “Shoko threatened me to keep it brief, so I’ll get to the point. Yuuta has been asking to see you. Do you want us to let him in?”
“Yes,” you answer immediately.
Gojo is uncharacteristically serious. “Are you sure?”
“I am. I knew the risks. I don’t blame him.”
“As long as you’re sure.” Gojo stands up, shuffling the papers on his lap back into their folder. You catch a glimpse of an ad for a local bakery mixed in with what looks like the pages of an incident report. “I’ll go tell him he can come see you. He’s been bothering me nonstop about it since Shoko kicked him out this morning.”
He walks to the door of your room, pausing on the threshold with one hand on the doorframe. “I hope you’re prepared for what you’re getting yourself into,” he tells you over his shoulder.
A few minutes later, you hear quiet footsteps outside your room. Yuuta has showered since you last saw him, his hair soft and clean and face free of blood. He hesitates at the threshold, but you beckon him through. “Come here, let me look at your injuries.”
He follows your demand, sitting on the bed next to your knees. You can feel his eyes on you and you know that there’s something he wants to say, but you decide to check where those wounds had been last night first. Thankfully, you are met with smooth, unblemished skin at his side and chest.
You pause there, one of your warm hands resting against the cool side of his neck where one of the wounds had been. You lift your eyes to meet his. A moment passes, then you both speak at the same time.
“I’m so sorry-”
“I’m glad you’re-”
You laugh, sliding your hand down his arm to his hand. You gently untangle his fingers from where they’re clenched in the hem of his shirt, and slowly twine your fingers with his. “I’m glad you’re alright, Yuu. You scared me pretty bad, running into the clinic all cut up like that.”
“I’m alright thanks to you,” he brings your hand up to his mouth, pressing a lingering kiss to the back of it. “Please don’t put yourself on the line like that again. I can’t lose you,” he asks, dropping his head to rest his forehead against yours.
“I’m a tough cookie, Yuuta. I can take a little bite.” You squeeze his hand.
He groans above you. “You’re so cute. I don’t know how I ever convinced myself to stay away.”
You can’t help the smile that stretches across your face. “You think I’m cute?”
I do. You’re irresistible to me,” he says, dipping his head down to press a kiss to the tip of your nose. “You smell divine. You have no idea what a temptation you are. I tried to stay away; I was so worried that I would hurt you. And then you offered yourself up to me and I couldn’t resist anymore.” He lifts his head, bringing his free hand to your neck, tracing a whisper of a touch against the bandage. “I wish I could be stronger. Be better, for you.”
“You were starving, Yuuta. You endured so much.” You squeeze his hand. “I know you didn’t mean to, and I trust you. You won’t hurt me again.”
“I won’t,” he says, his voice full of conviction. He brings your hand up to his lips, pressing a kiss to your knuckles. “I won’t ever hurt you like that again.” He gives your hand a gentle squeeze and then lets go, reaching over to the bedside table to get the bento box that’s still waiting for you on the bedside table.
He shuffles closer to you on the bed and brings a piece of food to your lips, holding it patiently at the seam of your mouth until you open and delicately take the morsel from his fingers. You chew thoughtfully, watching him select the next piece of food from the box.
“What does this mean, for us?” you ask him softly, in between bites of food.
“It means I’m yours,” Yuuta answers, his voice solemn. “I’ll do whatever you want- be as close as you want me to be. I understand if you don’t want-”
You cut him off before he starts to spiral. “What if I want this? Want you?”
“Then I will give you all of me,” he says, dark eyes locked onto yours. “And you’ll be mine. Are you sure that’s something you want?”
You reach out, cupping his jaw in your hand. “I’m sure. I want you, Yuuta.”
He covers your hand with his, turning his head to press a kiss to your palm. “I’ve wanted to hear you say that for a long time.
“What do we do now?” you ask, looking at him.
He laughs. “All you need to do is let me take care of you,” he says, eyes warm. “There will be time for other things after you’re feeling better.”
True to his word, Yuuta does take care of you. Every moment he’s able, he spends time with you, making sure you eat, stay hydrated, and stay warm. He even brings you a selection of his hoodies to wear, and it’s hard to miss the way he preens whenever you wear one in public.
You spend the evenings together. He’s taken to cooking for you, complete with a ‘kiss the cook’ apron, and he smiles brightly whenever you oblige and plant a kiss on whatever part of him you can reach without getting in his way. After he’s fed you, the two of you will curl up on your bed and read together, or watch a few episodes of a show you both enjoy. It makes for a very cozy routine for the two of you.
Well after the point when you’ve fully recovered from the incident in the clinic, you notice that Yuuta’s cheeks have begun to hollow again, and the shadows are starting to cling to his face. You kick yourself for forgetting; he should have fed again by now to keep up his strength. Shoko will probably kill you herself if you end up in the clinic again for a bite gone wrong, so you approach the situation with care.
It just takes a bit of patience. You’ve noticed Yuuta is happiest when you let him do things for you, so you spend the evening asking him for help with little chores around your small apartment. You let him cook dinner and do the dishes afterwards, sitting at the counter and keeping him company while he works. You’ve done everything you can to make sure it’s a relaxing atmosphere; there are candles lit that give your little apartment a golden glow, and soft music plays from your little speaker.
You wait until the two of you are warm and curled up in your bed before you make your move. Yuuta is leaning against the wall, his chin on your shoulder and his arms looped around your waist, ready for you to pull out the book you’ve been reading together and find your place.
Instead, you turn slightly in his arms, just enough that you can see his face. “Yuuta, I think you need to eat,” you tell him.
He looks down at you, a very cute confused expression on his face. “What do you mean? We just had dinner?”
“You need to feed, Yuuta.” You take off the hoodie you’ve been wearing all night, leaving you in just your tank top and shorts. You let your head loll to the side, exposing your throat to him. “Let me take care of you like you take care of me.”
“What if I hurt you again?”
“You won’t. You only hurt me last time because you were half-feral and starving. I want you to feed before you get to that point again.”
His eyes are massive; the dark irises trained on the movement of your pulse at your throat. You can hear him swallow.
“Are you sure?”
You take his hand. “I’m sure, Yuuta. I trust you.”
He brings your hand to his lips, scattering delicate kisses over the back and where your pulse flutters at your wrist. “You are too good to me,” he sighs, breath skating over your skin. Gently, he slides out from behind you but he doesn’t go far. He pulls you down to rest on your back, hovering over you with a soft look on his face.
“What’re you doing, Yuu?” you ask, watching him from your position on the pillows.
“I wanna make sure you enjoy this, too,” he murmurs, dusting kisses down your throat to where the edge of your tank top sits on your chest. With tender care he lifts the edge of your tank up, waiting for your approval before he pulls it off of you. He repeats the same process with your shorts, and you feel heat rush to your cheeks as he looks at your naked body with such reverence in his eyes. “You’re so beautiful. I can’t believe you’re finally mine.”
He trails his lips over every inch of your exposed skin, paying special attention to your nipples until they are stiff and puffy, shining with saliva in the soft light. Slowly, he moves his way down your body, kissing down your stomach until he’s hovering over the part of you that’s been crying out for attention under his gentle ministrations.
“You smell heavenly,” he breathes. He leans in and drags the flat of his tongue up your slit, savoring the wetness that’s begun to gather between your legs. “You taste divine,” he moans, the vibrations of the sound dragging an answering one out of you.
His tongue laves hot strokes over you, your pussy clenching around nothing as he tastes you. He keeps teasing your clit, flicking it with the tip of his tongue or rolling it between his lips for a moment in between licks, the motions stoking a fire in your belly When he pulls it between his lips and sucks, stroking it with the flat of his tongue, fire sears through your veins and you arch up off the bed, a long moan stuttering its way past your lips.
Yuuta pulls away from you for just a moment. “That’s it, my love. Let me hear you,” he moans, before diving back in and continuing to devour your pussy. His ministrations drive you higher and higher, fast approaching the peak with no sign of stopping. Pleasure floods your body, turning your limbs to jelly as he indulges in you.
When your orgasm hits, you feel a prick of pain on the inside of your thigh. A moment later, you feel a rush that amplifies and extends your release. It hits you so hard that you can’t even make a sound, arching silently off the bed, your mouth open in a soundless scream as the waves of pleasure wash over you. Your vision even whites out, everything going blank for just a moment before you collapse bonelessly on the bed.
You hear a faint slurping sound as you come back to yourself, and you look down to see Yuuta pulling himself away from your thigh, dragging the back of his hand across his mouth. The gesture doesn’t do much beyond smear the blood and cum across his face, but neither of you really care.
He pants for a moment, dark eyes unfocused, before his gaze sharpens and he looks down at you.
“How do you feel?” he asks, worry creeping into his expression.
“Like I just saw the face of god,” you joke, a breathless laugh leaving your lips. “What about you? Do you want me to return the favor?”
He blushes at that, a slow scarlet flush creeping up his neck and across his cheeks. “Ah, I’m fine. Don’t worry, I enjoyed myself.” He pulls back, sliding off the bed and standing up. You catch a glimpse of a dark spot on the front of his loose sleep pants before he walks away, moving towards your little ensuite bathroom. “I’m going to run us a bath. Don’t move.”
“I don’t think I could even if I wanted to,” you sigh, sinking into the soft pillows beneath you. You hear the faucet turn on, and a rustle of cloth. A few minutes later, Yuuta returns. You hold out your arms to him and he laughs softly, scooping you into his arms. “Let’s get you cleaned up,” he says, carrying you gently into the bathroom.
He sets you in the warm water and then slides in behind you. He lets you rest for a moment before he starts to run a warm washcloth over your skin, lathering you with bubbles that smell like your favorite soap.
You let him take care of you, only taking the washcloth for a moment to wipe the blood and fluid off of his face and neck, scrubbing his skin with a gentle hand. He leans into your touch, practically purring with his eyes closed for a moment.
Once you’re both clean, he gets out and dries himself first before helping you out of the tub and wrapping you in a fluffy towel. He leads you over to sit on the closed toilet before he opens a drawer and pulls out your little first aid kit. Gently, he pushes your knees apart to inspect the two neat puncture wounds that decorate the meat of your inner thigh.
He carefully swabs them clean, pressing an apologetic kiss to your knee when you hiss at the sting of the disinfectant. You watch him open two bandaids, bubblegum pink and printed with Hello Kitty, and position them over the cuts. Satisfied with his work, he rocks back on his heels and looks up at you. He pulls your hand to his lips and presses a kiss to the back before he stands up.
“Wait here, I’ll grab you some clothes,” he tells you before he walks back out into your bedroom. He returns a moment later, clean pajamas and underwear in one hand and your favorite hoodie of his in the other. Yuuta helps you dry off and dress, making sure to support you when your knees wobble.
Once you’re clean and dressed, he takes you back to bed and settles you down with a bottle of water and some snacks, before curling in beside you and wrapping his arms around your waist. You snag your laptop from your bedside table and turn on an episode of the show you’ve been watching together and snuggle in, opening up the snacks that he brought you when your stomach rumbles.
The two of you fall asleep like that, wrapped up in blankets and in each other.

Tumblr media
"Nope! No fucking way!"
"Oh, c'mon." Felix rolls his eyes, pointing at the laptop screen. "Look, it says here the property is fenced in and secure. No big deal!"
You crane your neck so far that you look like a heron fishing on the bay. Jisung snickers beside you, taking a swig of his energy drink. No big deal, he says...
It was just a few days ago when the three of you were talking about exploring a supposed haunted house on Halloween night. You had agreed to this as a joke, but knowing these two, you should've seen this coming. It wasn't a surprise to you when Felix had called earlier, asking if you and Jisung were home and brought himself over. Turns out he'd been doing some research on the haunted locales around town and, much to your dismay, was now trying to persuade you into a night of absolutely no rest at one of the "most haunted houses in the area". You aren't having it.
"You do realize that Halloween is the worst time to do this?" You say, pacing around the living room. Out of the corner of your eye, you see the boys share a glance. They know where this is going. Jisung takes a breath and leans forward, snatching your laptop off the coffee table.
"I seriously see nothing wrong with this..." Felix mutters, resting his forearms on the back of the couch as Jisung moves the cursor across the screen, tapping on the album of photos that's attached to the article with curious eyes. "It's just an old, abandoned house. No one lives there."
The first photo pops up, an older one taken circa 1934. Back then, the farmhouse stood in the midst of the prairie fields, newly erected, the original owners standing before it with pride. It had belonged to a family of six; husband and wife standing at the top of the wrap-around porch while their four children stand on the descending steps. Oldest to youngest, it seemed, their clothes wrinkled from probable horsing about prior to this photo being taken. The farmhouse itself was classic and elegant in design, with its whitewashed clapboard of the time framing the tall, single-sashed windows. The pine bannister lines the edge of the porch until it wrapped out of sight.
"You can't be serious." You mutter, shaking your head as you watch Jisung flip through the album. The house erodes away with every single picture, the hairs on your arms standing at attention. You catch the quirk of Jisung's lips as you turn away.
"What if we spent the entire night?"
He's joking, you can tell just by the tone of his voice, and soon after, he's chuckling. But Felix's eyes widen with a rare excitement. He claps his hands together, reeling back from the sofa and pointing an index finger at his friend.
"That is a great idea!"
"NO, FELIX!"
You're glaring before he's even looking at you. There's a crazy glint in those eyes, something like adrenaline that rushes his veins at the thought of a whole night at such a location. These boys would be the death of you...
"Halloween is the time of year when the v-"
"The veil between worlds is at its thinnest," Felix interrupts in a mocking tone, rolling his eyes, "I think you're watching way too many supernatural movies. None of it's real!"
You turn your head to him, shooting him a look that you're sure could cut if it physically manifested. Maybe it wasn't real. Maybe it was. You sure as hell didn't feel like being the one to find out. In fact, you would much rather spend your Halloween night right here at home, curled up with a blanket and a horror movie marathon.
You lick your lips, setting your gaze back on the computer screen. Felix paced around leisurely, listening as Jisung reads aloud the info on the house's history. Your ears pick up Jisung's voice, vowels that evolve into syllables until they craft into a whole story, but nothing computes.
"English decent...hard-working values... two of four children homeschooled.... ongoing Infedelity... wife took the hatchet from the barn.... murdered her husband... three of the kids... eldest daughter survived by escaping through the second story window... wife was never seen again..."
You stand there with a jittering foot, Jisung's voice fading in and out in a garbled buzz. The words slowly sink in, the air charged with tension. Your eyes drift back to the album. The youngest daughter's expression is unmistakable as she stares straight at the camera, her gaze cold and piercing as a dagger's point.
"Are you serious?" Felix stares at the photo with wide eyes, his lips parted in astonishment before he bursts out laughing. "Oh my god, this house would be amazing to explore on Halloween, are you kidding!?"
You're still in shock. A lump in your throat. Your eyes locked on those pixels that stare back. Dead eyes. Your mind races.
Was it just a rumor? A ghost story spun by bored residents at the time?
Something tells you otherwise.
"Says here it's been vacant since 1998. The last family to live there did some renovations but reportedly left shortly after."
"You're joking, now." You shift your attention to your roommate sitting on the couch, tilting your head with a pointed look. Jisung's gaze finds your pinned pupils for a split second, only to go back to his scrolling without another word. "Tell me you're joking."
Felix's laugh actually triggers you, your fists clenching until your fingernails are leaving indents on your palms. He rounds the sofa to sit beside Jisung, eyes darting across the laptop screen.
"Come on, it'll be fun! Imagine what cool trinkets might be in that house."
"That fucking house has been vacant for TWENTY-FIVE YEARS! Murder is bad enough, but to top it off, the last people renovated only to leave without selling it?" You turn to Jisung again, "Is that on the record? The last owners didn't sell it after reno?"
Jisung searches the paragraph again, double checking what he'd read.
"Yep, they bought it in 1991, made some renovations, but never sold it. They just left."
Felix groans in response, rolling his eyes as he leans into the elder boy's side to get a closer look. Jisung continues his scrolling through the website, searching for any other news stories on the property. Another Google search only returns regurgitated legends of the original family, all with different endings. More dead ends eventually lead to Jisung closing the tab and leaning back into the couch cushions.
You shake your head, crossing your arms over your chest. "I don't feel good about it, Lix. I'm out!"
"Are you serious? It's a fucking house and some old ghost stories."
"And I'm not about to fuck around at a murder sight on Halloween with you two imbeciles! I'll go literally anywhere else on Halloween night, a fucking party if you so insist."
"A party?" Felix scoffs, "That's boring and you know it. Don't you wanna have an adventurous Halloween?"
"I don't want to get haunted or arrested. You will not persuade me into following you along like a lost puppy to some haunted farmhouse!"
"I can't believe you talked me into this shit..."
You're stuffing your hands into the pockets of your hoodie, glancing around the dying overgrowth of the wooded area you three currently travel through. Despite everything you'd said two weeks ago, here you stand.
"It'll be fine. They say no one has been seen in or around the house for years! And besides, all those reports of paranormal activity were probably made up for the sake of scaring kids." Jisung says. The flashlight in his hand dips, the LEDs trailing off between tree trunks and the darkness of the woods, dancing from one spot to another as he follows behind Felix. The moon beams an eerie glow from high in the sky, most of the trees barren so late in October, casting shadows that twist and distort against the rustling leaves. It's full tonight, unfortunate for your anxious little mind. Your eyes are already playing tricks on you in the dark of night, shadows peeking their heads out from behind the earthen bark.
"Oh ho hoo, you didn't say that last week, bro!" Felix's voice echoes, looking down at his mobile device to keep the group on track. "That's even more perfect. We'll be the first to explore it in over two decades!" He's practically shaking with excitement, though you're completely numb at this point. And not from the October chill.
Your fingers twitch in their confines, your breath forming in puffs of ghostly clouds in the night. The trees loom over your head like guardians, gangly limbs reaching out to scrape and pull at your hair and hoodie. Others lean against their brethren, uprooted by the anger of storms, their battering of wind and rain. Still, some of them fight for survival, their strong roots piercing deeper into the Earth's soil. You press on through the foliage, the silence of the forest only broken by the muffled sound of your best friends' conversation fading.
"When all this is said and done, you're doing the dishes for two weeks." You say, glaring at Jisung's back.
"I feel like all that hostility in your voice is so uncalled for. I haven't done anything."
You chuckle bitterly, staggering over tree roots that breached the surface of the soil.
"You're right! You haven't made one objection to this stupid idea since Felix brought it up. And to top it off, all that research you did on my laptop? Yeah, I'm now the victim of true crime news stories from the early 1900s."
"Don't you clear your search history every night?" He asks.
"Don't you have your own laptop?" You counter, watching him slow his pace and huff. Part of you feels a little guilty for being so harsh. You know the boys love doing stupid shit; Halloween or otherwise. But after all was said and done, you just didn't feel good about this little trip. Felix turns back to you two, the light of his phone illuminating his face.
"Oh lighten up, Spitfire! For all we know the stories are a load of crap. We're already this far, right? No point in backtracking now. It'd be a shame not to check it out."
"The real shame is the classic horror movies I rented for us that are just sitting on the damn coffee table back home." You grumble, your eyes darting over your shoulder. Jisung snickers ahead, cooing at you.
"Awww, are you disappointed we aren't sitting on the couch, lights off, snuggled under a blanket together?" He teases, his voice dripping with sarcasm. Felix chuckles and keeps walking, looking down every few moments to the GPS on his phone. As you trek further, your spine tingles with electricity. The air in this heavily wooded area seems dead, the feeling of being watched growing like mold spores beneath the leaf litter. It's as if something is lurking just out of sight, just beyond the shadows.
"We've spent almost half an hour in these woods," Felix's words ring out in the darkness, and you realize in your moment of weakness, you'd stopped walking. "If you wanna give up and run home, that's your business. I wanna see this through."
Your feet move again, quickly catching up to your friends with heavy breaths. This place gives you the creeps and you haven't even gotten to the house yet.
"Besides, it's just a few minutes ahead. Look, there." Felix smiles as he points up ahead, the old farmhouse rising out of the dark ocean of those tall prairie grasses. Your eyes are drawn upwards to the thinning canopy of the trees above, mind racing with the possibilities of what you may encounter. And still, you follow behind the boys.
"Have you considered the idea that we might not be the only ones out here?" Your question is accompanied by a hollowness in your throat as you all wade through the overgrown field; invasive Johnson grass swaying with the wind.
"Jason Voorhees isn't gonna pop out and welcome us to the house, if that's what you're asking."
"Funny... I'm talking about real threats, Felix."
"Technically, Jason doesn't live in the woods..." Jisung says. Felix stops walking, turning his attention fully onto his friend.
"Yes, he does."
"No, he doesn't." Jisung replies, and now you've all stopped walking.
"Yes, he does."
"The guy spends half his slasher life slashing around a lake house!"
"At a summer camp in the woods!"
"Near a lake! Boom! Mic drop. I'll humbly take this win, thank you."
"You haven't won shit, it's in the wo-"
"Will the two of you please shut up!" You hiss, eyes darting around the open field. Your feet are shuffling beneath you, unable to shake the feeling of being watched. You look off to that creepy looking house, shaking your head. "It's too fucking quiet to be raising your voices out here, and frankly, I'm already pissing myself without the help of you two talking about some slasher in the woods!"
"Slasher in the woods, see." Felix gestures to you, shooting Jisung a grin. That's what he picked up from your little anxiety-ridden rant? He turns on his heels, the gravel drive just a little bit further. It snakes through the field like a serpent, winding its way up to the old farmhouse. Jisung starts walking ahead, but you don't miss the sound of him mocking Felix's snide remark. You sigh heavily, shaking your head and following close behind.
The gravel crunches under three sets of shoes, the pebbles shifting with every hurried step. You can see the entrance from here with the help of Jisung's light; the dark shadow of a door. You swear there's nothing keeping nature out. The windows are boarded up, the sheets of plywood slowly eaten away by termites and other wood borers over some time. It's bare bones, the exterior of the building left to rot and be reclaimed by the surrounding nature. Somewhere nearby, an owl claims the woodlands with its haunting song.
"That's it?" Felix's tone is drenched in disappointment. His eyes dart back and forth with the crappy light of his cell phone over the Tim Burton-esque husk.
"Why the fuck do you sound disappointed? This house is terrifying!" Your eyes scan the surrounding property, and something dawns on you. "There's also no signs of a secure fence anywhere, like it was stated in the article."
Felix shrugs, his phone's light scanning over your form. "Must've been an older article, then. But it doesn't look that bad."
It looks far larger than it did in the photos online, although you admit it's seen better days. You have yet to notice anything that looks different to the original photos, even if it is crumbling and peeling. Perhaps it was an interior renovation? Jisung's light washes over the building from the porch to the second-story windows, the rickety bannister casting shadows along the disintegrating clapboard. Your blood prickles at the realization that the door was indeed gone, phantom arms reaching out from the depths. It lays on the floor of the main hall, a victim of someone's full-bodied force. The air shifts, it seems. An oppressive static energy that stabs you in the lungs. You swallow, eyes drifting to Felix's shadow a few feet ahead.
"This feels like a terrible idea, Lix. Can we just please go back to mine and Jisung's place?" You're pleading now.
"Come on, it's just a house. There's nothing to be freaked out about," Felix calls from over his shoulder. He's already pressing onward, taking careful steps up the steep and rotting wood stairs of the porch like a sacrifice to the dark maw of this structure. "This is gonna be fun! Can't believe you're backing out after all the build-up."
You try to ignore the anxiety festering in your chest, your stomach. The smell of moisture from the tall grass surrounding you creeps up your nostrils. The place is making your skin crawl. You glance to Jisung, whose expression is a tad cautious now. His eyes dart to you, and in the light of the moon, you swear you can see some concern etching his face. He doesn't speak, just shakes his head and starts toward the entrance. You follow; two more sacrifices to appease whatever horrors lay dormant inside.
The porch groans with every step you and Jisung take, like the wooden boards were protesting you being here. He takes the lead and you aren't about to argue that one, pulling your phone out and turning the flash on with a twitching finger.
"Can't believe we're dumb enough to be walking into the live-action Monster House." You grumble, careful with your foot placement. You step over the door with Jisung's help, covering your nose with your hoodie sleeve.
"Hey, it's not that bad." Jisung says, scanning around for Felix. "We can't leave him here alone."
You scoff.
"One sign of a serial killer or a cult, and I'm sacrificing his Sunshine ass!"
Your fingers flex around your cell phone as you shine it down the main hall. The place looks like it's been ransacked, abandoned furniture turned on its side and litter piled up in corners, scattered across the floor with the help of the winds that seep through the old boards. To the right is the kitchen, simple and small. The cupboards are new, though considerably outdated in present day; old hickory covered in a thick layer of dust and peeled paint. You shine the light up to the weakened ceiling. The plaster has warped, bubbled, and sagged, brown blotches taking over a once pristine eggshell white. You don't like the black growth in the farthest corner where part of the ceiling has fallen, and you're telling Jisung to cover his face before he goes any further.
"Felix! Cover your mouth and hurry up, there's black mold in here!" You raise your voice slightly, but you don't get a response back. Jisung turns to you with a roll of his eyes.
"He's probably hiding somewhere to scare us." He says, heading down the hall. His light shines down the main hall, illuminating dust particles that have been roused with the help of the Aussie that's already exploring around somewhere.
There's a large web that sprawls over the eaten doorframe of the living room to the left, a large orb weaver sitting pretty in the middle of her silken cemetery. You blink at the many insect carcasses she'd captured, no need for further convincing that that room is off limits. You move forward, scanning the other rooms with little interest, but just enough to notice that a few of the house's back windows haven't been boarded up. Or perhaps the plywood has weathered away. The moon light shines through those windows, and you jump at the sight of a field mouse scuttering across the floor, squeaking at your intrusion.
You jump again at the thump of two feet on the landing of the stairs. A flash of cellular light and black boots.
"There's nothing here," Felix says, glancing back through the rickety bannister to the shanty rooms. His light blinds you momentarily.
"You are an idiot!" You release the breath you're holding, glaring at the cracks in the wooden staircase. "Those stairs look about ready to give out under you, get down here!"
Felix rolls his eyes at your scolding, but does as he's told, skipping down the last few steps. He stops on the third one down, a chuckle leaving him.
"I'm telling you, whatever's in this house is just fake stories made up by bored locals. Now-"
Felix's words are interrupted by a loud crash that rattles your bones. Spikes your pulse. You both jump at the sudden noise, Felix almost drops his phone as he turns to look for the source of the sound. It echoes from the kitchen, something like the lid of a stainless steel pot ringing, reverberating over the wood as it dances on its rim. Your throat swallows itself, strangled by an all-encompassing fear. A phantom hand grips your left shoulder. You startle, reeling your elbow up and back.
"Easy, easy!" A familiar voice says, shadow ducking out of the way to save him an elbow to the throat, "It's just me!" Jisung. His voice hushed as his wide eyes glance toward the exit. Toward the noise. You sigh in the slightest relief, because while all three of you have been accounted for, you now know that the noise is someone or something else entirely. The rim stops its dancing on a dime before anyone can speak, like a spinning coin that someone stops with the smack of a hand. All is quiet, only the sound of wind through rotting window frames and the shallowest breaths from three spooked youngins.
"What the hell was that?" Felix is the one to ask, and you're almost surprised to hear his voice shake in the back of his throat. Jisung shakes his head behind you, a small frown creasing his brows. Brown eyes stick to the doorway, waiting for... fuck, you don't know what you're all waiting for.
"We need to lea-"
BANG!!
Something metallic flashes in your peripherals and you can't stop the shriek you let out, bringing a hand up to your mouth. The weapon of choice lays in the middle of the door; a pan lid that rolls around on its handle, a dull rattling on hollowed wood. You all stand still, each of you paralyzed with fear. The loud bang against the wall gives you enough of a jolt to break the silence.
"Now! We need to leave now!" You hiss. "And I'm not taking one step towards that door, so what is our game plan?"
"Finding another way out?" Jisung suggests, his eyes burning a hole through the kitchen's doorframe. Felix shakes his head.
"There's no other exit. All the windows are boarded up upstairs." He whispers.
"Are you serious?" You can't stop the shakiness in your tone, your nerves getting the better of you in this moment of weakness. Whatever the fuck is in that kitchen isn't happy to have guests, and your only way out is past that doorway? You may as well have dug your own graves.
Another flash of movement, something tiny thrown into the adjacent living room. The object vibrates the silk strings of the spider's web and its inhabitant jolts, unsure whether or not to stay in the relative safety of her space or to take shelter elsewhere.
The loud thumping noise returns, this time from upstairs... scratching, clawing, pounding. The floorboards creaking loudly as something large scrapes back and forth across the surface. They keep getting louder, whatever is in here is only getting angrier. Another sharp bang against the wooden walls.
"Fuck!"
"Run!" Felix yells, and he's already clambering down the last few stairs, bolting for the door. "Just run!"
Jisung grabs your hand before you can protest, and the both of you dash through the open maw of the house with pounding hearts and trembling fingers. You take the moisture-laden air into your lungs, squeezing your roommate's hand to ground yourself. Everything is fine. Jisung is doing the same, hunched over with his free hand on his knee.
"What the fuck was that?" Felix asks, shining his phone back towards the house. He's panting too, his confidence completely snuffed out by the weird shit he's just witnessed.
"I don't know, I didn't see anything." Jisung pants as he struggles to catch his breath. He turns to face you as the sound of something falling to the floor is heard from the living room.
"Do we go back in there?" Felix asks, wide eyes on the entrance to the house. The light from Jisung's flashlight cuts through the darkness in patches, moving with every swing of his arm.
"Are you seriously asking if we should go back in there?" Jisung asks. For the first time tonight, you're both on the same wavelength. How Felix could want to go back inside after all of that, you don't understand. Perhaps it's the shock? Or he's got a death wish.
You don't have the chance to consider the choices because your ears perk at the sound of what you could only describe as killer clown laughter, just inside the doorway. A grunt. Growling. More laughter. It leaves your spine ram-rod straight, the hairs on your body all standing on end.
Oh, fuck this!
Now that you're outside, you see no reason to stand here and twiddle your thumbs. You're gripping Jisung's hand like he's your lifeline and bolting for the trees. Back the way you all came. It seems Felix has finally come to his senses as well, breaking into a full sprint down the driveway as he screams for you two not to leave him behind. The house recedes quickly into the distance with no one even bothering to look back to see if you're being followed. All you know is that running for your life is better than death by hatchet or crazy killer clown cults. The three of you don't stop until you're back to the main road and in your car.
Beady eyes peak around the door frame as all three book it, a mask over those eyes to hide their identity. Another head pops out, and a third. All masked up and chittering away as they amble onto the porch, munching on junk food that had been left behind by other explorers.
Raccoons.
The furbearers climb down the steps one-by-one, almost cackling on their way as the trio of two-leggeds scream into the night.

Coven: that's a wrap
I finished the Halloween story at the witching hour on the dot, and frankly, I think that fucking rules.
This is the longest, most ambituous story I've written since maybe the fifth grade. And if I pull it off, it's just the first domino in a larger project I've been brewing for over a year now.
I want to give a quick couple of shout-outs:
shout out to @subliminalbo, who I've read for many years but have somehow become friends with seemingly by chance. Last year, serendipitiously, he posted about his writing process and I must have took that shit to heart, because I proceeded to just pour out words for hours about an idea I had just been kicking around in my head, the story alluded to above. Of course, tragedy stuck in the form of a deactivation, and the first two chapters of Coven were lost (though, I promise, the story is much better now for it).
shout out to Xenos, whose fantastic Stable Diffusion models I am greatly indebted to. Again, fate would have it he messed up and posted an absolute nightmare fuel checkpoint on accident, but that's what caught my eye in the first place. It turns out what we have in common is we are both hypno/MC veterans (he wrote on EMCSA) with designs on using generative AI for bigger mixed-media products (his vision is in gaming). He also has a Discord where I've spent a lot of my time in Tumblr Exile meeting some other cool people.
shout out to @foreverlostinspirals for reading and reblogging this story. I jokingly said she is like Sigourney Weaver when she was the Ghostbusters' only client. She has been very sweet and supportive when I resort to self-deprecating comments about my writing.
I have 8% battery, so I'll thank my wife, not just for her love but her patience. I know she rolls her eyes when I am working on this when I need to be doing other things, but she does so with love and support to let me do my own thing sometimes. Even though it is highly unlikely she'd read this, I love you.
Probably a short hiatus from stories while I take a breather and organize thoughts, and I have a couple fun things planned, but you can find me on @ottopilotreturns, because I am an internet addict with no boundaries! TTFN.

"Bob's Burgers" Season 9 Episode Ranking Rewatch (Long Post)
So, I've been rewatching "Bob's Burgers" from the beginning and ranking the episodes using the spreadsheet that @babsvibes created! If you want to know why I'm doing this or how I view the 1-5 rating scale, you can check out my Season 1 post! If you want to check out any of the other seasons, I've been using the "bob's burgers episode ranking rewatch" tag for all of them.
Now, on to Season 9:
Tumblr media
Average (Mean) Score: 4.55
Mode (Most Common) Ranking: 5
Ranking Breakdown: 12 5s 10 4s
Season as a whole thoughts:
"Bob's Burgers" is turning nine and it's feeling *uses inhaler* fine!
Seriously, this is just another really excellent season in my opinion. It joins Season 4 and 8 as one of the seasons to not getting any episodes rated lower than a 4, and it's average score is good enough for 4th place of the currently ranked seasons below 7, 4, and 5. In some ways, it reminds me a lot of Season 7- a great mix of humor and heart along with introducing some new characters and other innovations- it's definitely representative of the series at its best, in my opinion.
Some thoughts on specific episodes (and feel free to ask if you want my thoughts on an episode I didn't comment on):
"Just One of the Boyz 4 Now for Now": It's a tough call, but this might be my favorite season premiere and my favorite "musical episode" (ie: one with more than the typical 1-2 songs). All the songs are absolute classics and great parodies of romantic comedy tropes! it's really a brilliant episode. It's hard to name a favorite song, but I think I might have to go with "Friend Zone" just because "Now let's kiss over this cake/'Cause it's your birthday, I guess" always cracks me up. The baby rat subplot is also really fun, and a great use of Hugo. And this episode gives us another (brief) appearance of Louise's Boo Boo crush, which is one of my favorite running gags! A great way to start the season.
"The Taking of Funtime One Two Three": While we're on the subject of great songs (or we were recently) "let an egg roll, from your egg hole" and "if wooly mammoths had had wheels maybe they'd still be around" are among the "Bob's Burgers" song lyrics that are always living in my head. Sadly, I rarely have an occasion to say either of them in conversation. I do like to say "To what end, people?!" occasionally, so thanks for that, Trip. Anyway, this is another classic "The Belcher Kids and their friends have an adventure episode" with a healthy does of Mr. Fischoeder and some fun moments with Yuli the security guard, one of my favorite minor recurring characters.
"Tweentrepreneurs": I love this episode because it helped inspire one of my favorite future career headcanons for Louise (and an outlined multichapter fic I'll probably never write). While taking over the restaurant or being a film director seem like the most obvious future career for Louise, this episode has the biggest of about three canon moments that inspired my "Louise Belcher, future labor union organizer" headcanon. I worked in the labor movement for several years and I just think would Louise would love it- taking on the rich and powerful, helping other people stand up for themselves, causing good trouble- it's a really good fit for her. And here she is, leading a walkout at age 9! (And, given my fondness for her relationship with Rudy, I have to mention that it's her concern for his health that is the final straw leading to the walkout.)
"Nightmare on Ocean Avenue Street": Probably my favorite Halloween episode; definitely has my two favorite Halloween costumes! Rudy and Bob are probably the two characters I relate to the most, and it cracks me up that their costumes in this episode are totally things I would do: "what? It might look like I'm wearing normal clothes, but actually I'm totally Paul Rudd or Bruce Springsteen, can't you tell?!" Also, I don't think I've mentioned before how much I love the guy who's about to throw the candy into the incinerator. He's really one of my favorite one-off characters. Dude just got out of six month coma, doesn't know what day it is, still goes to work...and apparently will just throw anything into the incinerator that anybody tells him to (unless he gets a more compelling reason not to)? I think he might rank second after the "Boyz 4 Now" security guard as my favorite nameless one-off character.
"I Bob Your Pardon": Maybe my third or fourth favorite Thanksgiving episode! I've always had an interested in politics and journalism (I wanted to be a journalist when I was a kid) so this hilarious small town Thanksgiving turkey pardoning scandal really hits a lot of the right notes for me. If I had become a journalist, I definitely would've stolen "Well, somebody better call Huey Lewis because I may have found myself some news" as my catchphrase. And the end credits song is a total banger! "Don't you taint my mayor!"
"Better Off Sled": An excellent Christmas episode! Generally speaking, Louise and Logan's dynamic isn't really my jam, but I enjoy them here. The one-upsmanship of the snowball arms race is a lot of fun, and the "stupid Christmas" ending is sweet but not too sweet and feels totally in character for Louise. Also, I can't help but love this exchange: "Then why does it look like your butt could take a sheet of fresh-baked cookies out of the oven?" "Genetics?" (Kristen Schaal's delivery of "genetics?" is one of at least three times on the series when she absolutely kills me with her delivery of a single word). All that being said, I think Teddy is the real comedic MVP of this episode- pretty much everything he says cracks me up! And I love that Rudy is basically the one who saves the day for the Belcher kids! And Knitcracker, I can't believe I didn't mention Knitcracker yet! (That said, it's still not my favorite Christmas episode since it doesn't involve any references to murder mannequins.)
"The Helen Hunt": I feel like this might be one of my least popular shipping opinions but...I like Teddy/Kathleen! Not in the sense that I want to create fic or art for them, but I just think they are kind of sweet together. Like with Roger and Judy from "Aquaticism" they have that "awkward middle-aged people finding each other" vibe that this awkward middle-aged single person finds appealing. And I think her pretty easygoing, laidback nature is a nice contrast to how stressed out/excitable Teddy can be. And I always enjoy people who watch odd sports! Okay, Teddy/Kathleen aside, I also just enjoyed that they did a followup to "Housetrap", and the father and hot son plumbing duo subplot is so cute! "You, you make plumbing fun..."
"Bed, Bob, and Beyond": One of the things I've noticed in this rewatch, is that I really enjoy the three-story episodes (aka vignette episodes aka triptychs aka who knows what else some folks have called them.) I think what I really enjoy is that the reason for them is always different, and therefore it always says something different about the characters and their situations. it's not just the Simpsons having a trio of non-canon Halloween adventures ever year. I think showing Linda and Bob having a stupid fight, and the kids view of it and their efforts to get them to reconcile, was a really clever use of one of these stories. Also, if I am ever asked to do an English accent, I will likely say "I'm watching footie on the telly in the pubby where the beer is". (Which is probably offensive, so please don't ask me to do that!)
"Every Which Way But Goose": Another thing the rewatch has made me appreciate more: Jimmy Jr. and his relationship with Tina. I never hated J-Ju, but I will say that I probably took him and the Tinimmy relationship for granted- it's been there since almost the beginning but I never really thought much about it. But the rewatch has helped me realize how funny of a character J-Ju is (it's just a really funny voice by H. Jon Benjamin) and how the Tinimmy relationship has given us some really funny episodes- most notably this one and "Ex Mach Tina", which are both all-time classics in my book (and, of course, they play a big role in "Bob Actually" as well, but I like that one for other reasons as well.) To me, it's clear from this episode and others that J-Ju does care about Tina...he's just very much a 13 year old boy. So, he's occasionally thoughtful but more often dumb or oblivious. Also, the end credits song to this one is another classic. I wish I could go to a concert of "Bob's Burgers" music just so I could scream out "secret kiss with Bruce the Goose" with thousands of other excited concert goers, because that is what that lyric deserves, dammit!
"The Gene Mile": So, I recently posted about how much I enjoyed some of the Rudy moments in this one. This is another great "Belcher kids and their friends" adventure; and I really wish that Courtney and Alex had more appearances in stories like this- where they and their relationship with Gene isn't really the center of the story- they are just part of the gang! It's always fun to watch different combinations of the kids have fun together. Also, nice for Large Tommy to get his largest role- going back to Season 1 of the rewatch it's funny to think that he was introduced much earlier than some of Louise's more iconic classmates (Rudy, Chloe, Millie, Jessica, Harley, etc.).
"P.T.A. It Ain't So": I feel like this might be the first example in the rewatch of an episode that really grew on me. A lot of the episodes I've given 5s to were ones I remember loving as soon as I saw them. Or they were "sleeper hits" that I had basically forgotten about before rewatching. This episode I remember when I first saw it, and I remember thinking it was fine but nothing great. But on rewatches I just find myself enjoying it more and more. I really love the Kim and Sons hardware store bird subplot- especially the ridiculous flyer the kids make. Also, it's fun watching the kids play with their pipe in the background (such a great kids being kids moment)! But the PTA stuff is great too- I love the fact that Tammy's Dad is Linda's PTA bestie for some reason! And Linda's idea of Colleen being in the shark suit for the dramatic revelation! And the Bleach Boys! Also, as someone who headed a neighborhood political group for a while, Joanne's line "Do you have any idea how many emails I send a week? No, you don't because no one reads them" resonates with me.
Random thoughts (stuff that doesn't affect the ratings):
-More great new characters continue to arrive on the scene! Hi Susmita! Hi Arnold!
-I would totally watch Randy's movie "A Life, Well, Steved". "And I thought to myself, 'I can't take another hurdle. I think I am that baby turtle.'" That's some beautiful, profound stuff there.
See you in the Season 10 post! It could be pretty soon since I've already watched rated it all- just need time to write!

It's Hallo-week! So I'm dropping by with a little something in the spirit of the All Treats, No Tricks celebration!
🍭 - Ask a creator about one of their favorite creations.
Molly, you've written quite a few stories centered around Halloween, horror themes, and monsters/creatures...! Which is the one that you gleefully love/evil laugh over the most? Which one was the most challenging? Is there one that gives you chills?
ahh Aspen!! happy hallo-week to you too!!
i love these questions, because i LOVE talking about my halloween/horror fics!!
i think the one i gleefully love the most is halloween is the perfect time for tricks—and treats. when i initially wrote this fic, Steve was going to be a lot darker, and reader was gonna be more innocent, but i love where it ended up with both of them being dirty pervs together. i also just put SO many kinks into this fic, and i loved that hahah
i think i've talked about this before, but the most challenging was probably giving your body and soul to the warlocks. keeping five men straight and making sure their personalities were distinct enough while also figuring out a magic system was a lot of tedious work.
slasher almost ended up being my most challenging because i had thought about making the whole movie universe include other marvel characters but i knew it would've been way too complicated for very little payoff. i also just really enjoyed the challenge of this fic, and writing different endings—it was a lot of fun!
and the one that gives me chills hmmmm...not really any of them tbh! i think the only thing that comes close is the opening of a deal with the devil comes with wicked strings. i tried to lean hard into the horror of the situation, and really emphasize it through the setting of the scene and descriptions of the reader's surroundings. that's also probably the most bloody/gory of my fics.
i feel like i try to balance any horror/scary elements with fluff or smut so that my fics aren't too too scary. but i'm also the one writing them so there's a lot of technical thinking that goes into them, like how does the magic work (if there is any)? or what do the characters want from each other? would they say/do that? so it takes a lot of the scariness out of something.
anyway, thank you for the ask, Aspen!! ♡♡♡♡

Six completed works written for the Sauron (Halbrand)/Galadriel (Haladriel) fandom, The Rings of Power
OVERALL THOUGHTS
it's like I can't consume media anymore without being like "*leonardo dicaprio meme* this could be a Haladriel AU!"
PERSONAL FAVORITE?
I'm going to say living la dolce vita (I’ve been saving all my summers for you), mostly because of the amount of work I put into it. Honestly, I never thought I'd finish it! I restarted this story six or seven times — I just could not find the voice. But I am so pleased with the outcome. I think of everything I've written this year, this story really underscored to me that, beyond "flashes of inspiration," writing is a lot of hard work that needs consistent attention and practice!
MOST UNDERAPPRECIATED?
I definitely think this one is it's a dangerous game, my Dr. Jekyll and Hyde AU. I initially started writing this for a Gothic-themed challenge, abandoned for a bit, then finished in a flurry for Haladriel Week. This fic is also a close second for my favorite of the year. I love a Gothic aesthetic and I made sure this story was chock full of it. I was also so purposeful with my writing voice for this story and, to me, it doesn't sound like anything else I've written.
MOST POPULAR?
Oh without a doubt, lend me some sugar (I am your neighbor)!
STORY WITH THE SEXIEST MOMENT?
I mean, this is so subjective, but I think the somnophilia scene from it's a dangerous game takes the cake for me! I wrote it in one sitting during my lunch break and my god was it hard to go back to work after this...
An excerpt from the end of the scene: Instead, he adjusts her skirts and melts into the darkness, leaving her as he found her; boneless and wet, flushed with heat and ripe for the taking.
MOST FUN STORY TO WRITE?
Fun is a strong word, but I was the story I felt was most fulfilling to write was tell me something true (or tell me nothing at all). I already had some of the template letter concepts in my notes from a twitter conversation much earlier in the year, and expanding on them, while building the scenes around them, was a really fun exercise.
HARDEST?
I'm not going to lie, most of them! I used to be the type of writer who would have one flash of inspiration, write it up at a mad sprint, then quit writing until I was struck with another mad idea. I wrote for so many prompt and themed challenges this year that I was required to be more intentional about story building and more consistent with my writing — even when it was hard, even when I hated everything I wrote down. Felt a lot like muscle training at the gym!
BIGGEST SURPRISE?
My output really surprised me!! I complain to my therapist all the time that I'm shit at finishing things, but it's hard to deny the truth when it's staring me in the face: six complete stories, two wips that I will complete! And not just the quantity of my output, but the quality too. I am proud of, and really like, everything I published!
I mean, don't ask me how my social life is going lol, but at least my writing life is going well!
DID YOU TAKE ANY RISKS IN WRITING THIS YEAR?
Dipping my toe into Dark Fics for sure, which is new for me. But beyond that, just engaging with the fandom as a whole! I firmly believe that writing/story-telling is a communal activity and I am beyond grateful to have found that community. It's the first real fan-space I've been a real part of, and it's definitely improved my writing.
MOST UNINTENTIONALLY TELLING STORY?
My life is too boring to translate to fic lol. But I did not have to dig very deep to write the depression beats in living la dolce vita (I’ve been saving all my summers for you). A lot of what Galadriel goes through — the listlessness, the anger, the selfishness — is stuff I also struggle with during depressive episodes.
FAVORITE LINES/SCENES?
I like them all lol but these are a few that I know others, including my fiancé, have really liked:
dig up the bones (but leave the soul alone): “My lady, if I had a dragon’s tooth for every time you told me not to worry while you went careening off into peril, I’d have a smiling crown for my troubles.”
lend me some sugar (I am your neighbor): And she shatters, then, like glass; a thousand glittering pieces sailing off into the light. Irreparably damaged, ground to dust — edges sharpening as they fall into a mosaic of destruction. There is no end and no beginning. A lifetime of little deaths folding in on themselves, one on top of the other.
tell me something true (or tell me nothing at all): I am drowning in this ocean of blood. And you — you are not here to pull me to the surface as you once did. How could you, when you are wave and anchor both?
there is a light (and it never goes out): She can offer him no words of comfort, no platitudes to ease his sorrows. But she can offer this. The soft touch of her lips to his, the gentle stroke of her fingers across his cheek. She cannot mend a broken heart, but she can hold it for a while, cup it in her palms and keep it safe. She can pour her light into his darkened soul, weave together a dream where they are bound and they are whole. If only just this once.
MY FAVE PART OF FANDOM IN 2023
Literally just having this fandom. Having this community of wonderful, kind, incredibly talented people I can talk to, get advice from, brainstorm with!! I have made so many wonderful friends and I will be forever grateful.
2024 WRITING AMBITIONS
I want to continue developing a consistent writing habit, preferably once a day. Ideally, I'll become to type of girlie who wakes up at 5am and writes for two hours before work, but let's be real, I'm way to sleepy for that!
I also want to focus on two specific things: writing faster and writing less. First, I am, in my eyes, a slow writer — without that "flash of inspiration," it can take me a few days to write a single scene. Mostly because I do not follow my own advice and have to get everything perfect in the first draft. Second — as you can see from this post!!! — I have always been the type of writer who goes "why use one word when you can use ten?" I want to be able to write shorter stories without feeling like I'm compromising on my vision.
2024 FICS ON THE IMMEDIATE HORIZON
chapter two of there is a light (and it never goes out)
the immortal soulmates AU
dig up the bones (but leave the soul alone)*  (which I think will be on hiatus until I can get a few chapters ahead before posting).
Thanks to @liminal-zone for the format, @conundrumoftime and @thecoziestbean inspiration!
