Did you know there are only six works in the Dr Cox/Elliot Reid tag on AO3? (If you don’t count things I’ve written, it’s only four.) This seems like a real oversight; they have such a fun dynamic! Here’s a fic.

Here’s the problem: Barbie is now at least making some effort to look like an adult. Meaning Dr Cox no longer sees her as an entirely sexless being, a peaceful illusion occasionally shattered by her frankly disturbing dalliances with Newbie.

Which means she says she’s great in the sack, and Dr Cox’s reaction, to his moderate horror, is to start wondering.

having been in the fandom for awhile, one interesting shift I remember seeing was around when BoO came out and people realized solangelo was implied to be a future thing, people were kind of scrambling to remember literally anything about Will cause of how minor of a character he had been up until that point.

And one of the things they were looking at with Will was that previously to BoO, people thought Will was a lot older. Because he was a cabin counselor (and generally how he was usually interacting with characters like Percy, Annabeth, and Clarisse - all 16+ish, or Leo - 15/16), most people assumed he was closer to 16 at least, if not actually older than Percy. It wasn't uncommon to see HoO!Will being 17 or so (this is also why there's a decent amount of hcs of him being at CHB pre-BoTL despite not existing until TLO). After BoO happened, it wasn't uncommon to see Solangelo content with a significantly older Will.

Like, it has always been implied in the series that Will is on the younger side (since Michael Yew joined CHB in SoM and Will is younger than him/would have joined BoTL at the earliest) and it's just the entire Apollo cabin keeling over in TLO that made Will counselor. But I just think it's interesting to remember that for awhile Will was not confirmed to be 13 in HoO/14 in TOA when solangelo first became a thing/people started paying attention to Will, and the fandom very widely thought he was older.

Was thinking about season 5 again for Reasons (found a great song for S5 Jon, mostly) and I'm having Jmart thoughts (I know, I know, some people might believe i've forgotten them amidst all my jonelias and I haven't, it's just they have such a shape in my head these days and it's hardly the same as what most people like about them I think). ANYWAY

I had two thoughts, actually; the first one was that, although I understand the reason why we never heard them kiss until the very end, I truly do enjoy the canon-reason being that it's just. Not the sort of things that works much for them, kissing; I'm still very fond of the idea of a Martin who's dreamt for DECADES of romance and physical affection and realized that the reality of it didn't always translate well. I truly genuinely enjoy the idea that they show their love for each other much more easily and naturally via long hugs and maybe some nuzzles, here and there, but not a lot of kissing.

The second one is that well, I know i've said it before seventy hundred times of twitter, probably, and definitely here as well, but MAN have I not read enough or seen enough of stuff exploring Jon's line in mag 161 ("Well, some of us weren’t able to cut ourselves off from the world before it ended.") and specifically Martin's answer, that does NOT deny the premise of it, only the right for Jon to use that against him at this moment ("That's not fair.")

I really do wish that we'd have more Jmart out there when Martin remembers caring about the world and people and try to still do it on principle, but he's only able to have true, proper feelings when it comes to Jon and Jon only. (And if that highs up his pre-existing tendency for jealousy, WELL.)

come to think of it another reason I'm biased towards nine might be because we never reach such beautiful casual queer vibes as the doctor + rose + jack situation again, at least not as far as I've watched. like I'm honestly not that much of a shipper but that kiss scene DOES things to me. and part of that is how loosely defined the relationship seems to be, at least maybe from jack's perspective. I can't rightly say it was wholly romantic in canon, but it sure was something - yes, rose flirted with jack way more than the doctor did when they first met, but the doctor even just being chill about jack kissing him feels significant - and I do love a quasi-romantic loosely-defined Something.

proud curly defender literally what was he supposed to do. its sad that he couldnt do anything but in no way is that his fault!!? theyre in the middle of space, his friend will 100% lash out if he confronted him in a more severe way than he did (he reacted to "lets figure this out together" with talking abour how theyll be remembered as a tragedy (crashing the ship)), and he couldnt lock him anywhere because theres like 3 locked places on the ship which are the cockpit (where he would crash the ship, and lock the captain out by putting him there), the medical room (all the medical supplies are in there!!) and the like storage room thing (they didnt want to and did not dare to open that until way after the crash.) . the only thing he could have done was kill jimmy, which would not only be kind of hard to shoot anyone period but youd have repercussions for when you get back. also then youd just have a dead body on the ship whicy they probably have no means of isolating/disposing of for the next like what 8 months? pleasw tell me what youd do in this situation if you blame him more than you blame jimmy

ALSO HE WAS GIVEN 2 DAYS TO PROCESS TBIS AND THINK OF A WAY TO FIX IT. THATS NOT ENOUGH TIME TO DO TJAT!! especially when tne answer to fixing it is nothing until they land back on earth at least
