Third year in a row spending Halloween on the front stoop, handing out candy to neighborhood kids while blasting Halloweentown on the TV inside. Mr Peach always cooks chicken parm (fun fact Mr Peach cooks 90% of the meals in our house) and then we watch another movie before falling asleep at ten. It’s such a stark difference from when we’d be riding the train home at two thirty in the morning practically cross eyed, but I like it way better. When I was younger, I wasn’t convinced I would make it to the age I am now (the world didn’t end when I was seventeen, or nineteen, twenty one, twenty two, twenty three, etc) and these transitions to the next stage of life get sweeter and sweeter.

Anyway, happy Halloween I hope you’re all doing at least one little thing you love or enjoy 🎃

see whenever i play a really bomb-ass game i have this THING where i start getting REALLY INSPIRED to make a game or story or something inspired by it but uh

dont think i got the power to make smth *like* UO's gameplay yet (mainly the srpg w/ squads instead of individual units)

like some of yall know about that Project Melzan I talk about but thats not quite the same. idk if there's anything like the "squads instead of individuals" in srpg or even rpgm. i'd have to try making it myself... or even a less restrictive engine like godot?

also if i'm making the characters and battle sprites myself that'd be... A lot of time that'd take me years. I'm already wondering what i'd do in that regard for Project Melzan.

i also wonder if i'd try to do the "gambit" style here or manual inputs. manual would be easier but slow the overwll gameplay down for sure... which i'm sure is one reason why UO went for auto/gambit style.

I signed up to help with my synagogue's Purim spiel this year and am VERY excited about it (fun and silly community performances my beloved, I am going to be in my element) but I am laughing about the email I got from the rabbi organizing it, who is newer, and so the only time we've interacted was a tiny Hanukkah singing event where I was the only congregant who showed up in-person, because today he enthusiastically asked "Wondering how you would feel about playing the foolish King, Ahasuerus?  I think you would be great!"

Which I am sure means "You seem very fun and like someone who would be good at comedic character acting" (demonstrably true, I have been intentionally over-the-top in every role I have ever acted) but it has not escaped me that if I wanted to, I could also interpret it as meaning "Rabbi met me once and assigned me himbo vibes"

i made a post a couple weeks ago about how i don't understand the hype about halloween and i think i finally get why because i'm a christmas liker and i think a lot of people on this site are neutral to dislike on christmas. and like i said i don't dislike halloween it just isn't my favorite holiday you know
