I have a question about the jp server pickups, since I really want knight Sebek, but I’m trying to save gems for bloom malleus + the 3rd tsum event that’s gonna show up sooner or later. Iirc, after knight Sebek, the next story update’s pickup had all of the previous story cards (ie cerberus Ortho, general Lilia, and knight Sebek). Is this true, and if it is, did it include a token system like the dorm pickups where you can just do 100 pulls and then buy the specific card you want directly? Because if that is how it works, then I can wait until then and be sure I won’t have to go to 200 for him.

we did indeed get a second chance at those three when 7-7 came out! I'm pretty sure there was not a token system -- though admittedly I don't 100% remember, sorry! 🙇 I took a quick search through some past posts/videos from people who tend to include the gacha and news stuff, but I didn't see any mention of it, so I'm inclined to think there really wasn't one. :( they were all separate pickups with their own pull counts rather than a combined one, if that info helps at all.

speaking as a strict f2p who hoards keys/gems like the lovechild of a dragon and a magpie, given the choice between saving for a story card and a birthday card, I'd go for story -- it does require a lot of patience, but there are way more opportunities to get past birthday cards, both from the anniversary events and the rerun pickups! tsums is a bit harder to say anything on because Eng doesn't follow the same event schedule, but it's a longish event and those pickups let you have a free 10-roll, so I think they're also a bit easier to save up for.

(ALSO speaking of free rolls, starting with the fifth round of birthdays -- the kutsurogi my room ones -- the birthday boy/union jacket/bloom cards have had a separate pickup that you can get two free 10-pulls at by doing missions! I got a bloom Jade from it a couple weeks ago. :D meanwhile general Lilia is the only story card I've ever managed to pull, so...I'm probably kinda biased. whoops.)

Sometimes I just look at Isabeau and just know that if isat came out and I got into it when I was like 16 he would be my favorite character and I would've gone absolutely buck wild over this man and feel like he was laser targeting me. But alas Odile has a grip of steel on me rn due to her virtue of being a middle aged woman

#rat rambles #stars posting #I feel like the biggest change in my taste in characters as the years have gone by is Im now far more biased towards old ppl lol #although tbf I was also the one person in 2016 who actually liked asgore so maybe Ive always liked parhetic old ppl #but yeah the reason isa is past me bait is because hes an exploration and subversion of the sort of tropes I Hated as a kid #and I still dont like them so isa still appeals to me its just not as much as he would have to a younger me #I do genuinely love all the party very dearly tho theyre all soooo good #I think my favorite part of isabeau is how like. of everyone we get to see the least facets of him but like in a very good way #this is a man who hides and bottles shit hes so fun to rotate #his self image is so carefully controlled compared to everyone else which makes him an incredibly interesting character to analyze #and I love that despite him seeming like the most emotionally stable person here on the surface he still clearly has like. hashtag issues.#like he's in that beautiful zone where its so so fun imagining what it would look like to truly break him #<- normal things that normal ppl say. like me.#I may have my very light beef with alt looping aus as a concept but hes probably the most interesting alternate looper to me #also my light beef exclusively relates to king quest stuff which is why Im a big fan of duo looper aus with sif #but honestly. isa might be the only one that I genuinely think works better as a solo looper even with taking king quest into account #although bonnie comes close. I <3 looper bonnie I <3 seeing fictional children go through the horrors #I think theres a lot of fun to be had with any alt looper au tho I just am a huge king quest fan so I like it when my favorite elements of #it dont have to be handwaved #but yeah the real question is how would younger me feel about mirabelle #because on the one hand: acearo character #but on the other hand: I have always been a little hater abt romance so idk if younger me would rly be able to follow her character well #I wasnt exactly good at character analysis back then lol #except for the instances in which I was but I dont have that sort of faith in my younger self #yknow Im thinking abt my history of favorite characters now and I think me being one of few 2016 alphys enjoyers might have been a prophecy #she was my quote unquote third favorite but in reality she was second #I think she chara and peridot su teamed up to define my taste in fictional characters for the next several years #and somehow that lead to olivia becoming one of my favorite fictional characters of all time #I say somehow as if that isnt a very natural conclusion

idk if people genuinely do panic about leaving comments on old fics, but tbh as someone who has older fics that are still somewhat popular, one of my favorite comments to get is from someone who says that they are coming back to reread or that they're "finally" leaving a comment after rereading so often. i always reread my favorite fics over and over, so it fills me w/joy when i get those comments even - or especially - for fics that were written years ago.

#liveblogging life #just got one of these on my hobbit fic that still gets consistent comments/kudos and is probably my most popular fic still #and tbh it gives me such joy! i love knowing people reread my stuff!#also i put finally in quotes bc i genuinely never feel like someone 'has' to leave comments no matter how much they reread or w/e #comments are like a little extra treat for me - i love them but i'm usually just baffled to get them lmao #bc the fics i write are... so genuinely written directly to my own tastes and for my own enjoyment #i share them a) bc it's fun b) bc publishing them gives me more motivation to finish them since there's accountability involved #and c) bc then i sometimes get little comment treats!#but like... the idea that i'm 'owed' comments or that readers MUST comment is just like. so wildly different to how i view things #that EVERY TIME i see fic writers making posts about it im kind of like... lmao okay and move on #anyway just saying this bc it does give me a little glowy feeling every time & people just really shouldnt ever be anxious #when they comment on old fics. authors love that shit lol

im genuinely going to be INSUFFERABLE when chapters 3 and 4 come out like you have no idea.

#i cannot BELIEVE i've had the life-threatening deltarune illness for nearly 3 YEARS at this point. thats fucking insane #anyways im literally never gonna shut up about it. you have no idea. and *I* have no idea honestly. this will be the first time im #playing new deltarune content with ALLLLLLLL of this shit in mind. i played chp 2 as someone who was obsessed w chp 1 in middle school #on a very surface level. and ofc we had so much less then that the theory landscape was COMPLETELY different so even if i had #been aware of that side of things as a kid it wouldnt have made much of a difference probably. but these chapters will be an #ENTIRELY different experience that i am in NO way prepared for. like ive NEVER been invested in something like i am in deltarune #and ive never been SO deep in a theory community like i am in deltarune's. but that only rlly happened after chp 2 #the sweepstakes was like a little taste of whats to come. but 3&4 will be a whole new experience that might genuinely kill me i think #im gonna take 80 years to get through them and even then im still gonna miss a billion things on my playthrough #me playing chp 2 like WAHHHH DELTARUNE THIS IS SO FUN vs me playing the new chapters completely locked in eyes 1 inch from the screen #scrutinizing every single pixel and reading into every word of dialogue for 30 minutes per line #im very scared about how my decision making's gonna go though. cuz these will be the first chapters where im playing them aware of #the player-kris distinction. before i could just chill and choose whatever i want but now i fear im just gonna get stunlocked #for sure im going to spend hours agonizing over which thing to choose trying to determine what i think kris would do. even tho #it probably doesnt matter. anyways i need to stop escaping to tumblr and finish this lets play #im doing the thing where i get too insane over the hyperfixation and have to stop interacting with it bcuz im going too crazy #serena.txt
