Brother Fielding of the Mentor Legion! This 1988 classic has a shuriken catapult and the typically wonky proportions of the time. My guess is he's an Aly Morrison or Mark Copplestone mini, he's not quite as organic as Bob Naismith's. Also a common misconception as that all Oldhammer models had goblin green bases - not true! That's more of a 90s thing. Anyway, expect a tutorial on how I painted this fella soon - he was painted almost entirely with ProAcryl paints from Monument Hobbies!

For those who're into mini-painting like I am, and given that while strikers aren't directly calling for a boycott (because they legally might not even be able to) they're heavily suggesting that not-buying the products as a way of pressuring them, please don't cross the picket line on this.

We gotta support strikes wherever we can, and I will say ProAcryl and even the new line of Army Painter Fanatic paints are excellent substitutes in the interim...

I actually finished this one quite a while ago, but I didn't really like how the chain on it turned out in copper. But ProAcryl MC's Dark Bronze proved just the ticket.

And of course, the other model as well.

I love these guys. The giggles, the tongue, the occasional flying kick. And of course,

Another IS OmniMech!? This time a Strider -- it's like a Javelin, but even more so. This particular paintjob is nothing special, just more of the Arkab theme that's been touched on in previous posts. The model, however... This is the Strato Minis "Reiver" from their Retrobots line. Technically, it's made for their HardWar game, but c'mon. We all know what this guy is meant to be. Wink wink nudge nudge. Seriously, those guys made some amazing battletech proxies, and I hate hate hate to use the past tense, but their webstore has been mostly emptied out due to a corporate restructuring as they seek out an owner for their IP. Best of luck to them, but their stuff may, for now, be unobtanium.

Finally got one of these guys done. The Charger, patron saint of brass-balled Mechwarriors everywhere.... or maybe you're just on punishment detail. The PGI design that they used for MWO and MW5, of which this is, is just so iconic that it pains me to see the way CGL went for their new plastic Charger coming out next year.

Nothing special to say about the paint job except that Basilicanum Grey may be a bit too dark for a Legion of Vega paint scheme. Let's talk about that BASE, though. Not to toot my own warhorn too much, but damn I'm proud of it. Crackle paint on two sides, layered buildup of technical paint for the riverbed and banks, drybrushing shades of beige for highlights, ProAcryl pale ivory down the riverbed and then a mix of blue and green AMMO Crystal Acrylics (bit heavier on the green than I intended), gloss varnish on that, then 2mm Gamers Grass tufts mixed with terrain flock lets the scene just bloom.

Painting has begun on my zone mortalis terrain! Several different coloured sections are planned. These ones will be silver, and an off white section is in the process of being base coated

Painting process for these walls is all follows

Prime black

Sponge on Rhinox Hide wherever you like or where you think rust would form. This is one of the steps with the purpose of suggesting rust.

Sponge/Drybrush on Leadbelcher heavily.

Paint details with some warm colours. (We are here). I used Scale 75 Decayed Metal and Dwarven Brass, as well as ProAcryl Burnt Red.

Later, I'm going to gloss varnish and oil wash, paint the lights with an airbrush spraying white and either one of the ProAcryl reds, contrast orange or blue. I plan to use a mix of lamp black and burnt umber, with more burnt umber in the mix. I prefer a warmer tone generally.

Then I'll matte varnish it.

After that, I'll hit it with some rust effects and pigment powders to represent rust.
