Warnings: dark elements, noncon, cheating, other dark elements. Proceed with caution.
Note: Please let me know what you think as it helps me a lot with ideas and I love interacting with you all.
Part of The Club AU
Grace is in tears. She’s babbling as Charlotte and Mona try to mop up her running mascara. The bottle of champagne is empty and Lillian is mindlessly swaying at the window as the club lights flash into the room. It’s chaos. You’re not sure exactly what to do.
You’ve been with Mrs. Shelby for a few months. Typically, she’s the sort for high tea or a luncheon. Often, you’re following her around to the elitist events and waiting outside watching your phone. Or you attend her privately why she rants about the newest designs be so hard to come by or that she can’t go to Paris whenever she wishes. Her biggest complaints are your most unlikely dreams.
“I just don’t understand... I try so hard,” she garbles and slurs drunkenly.
You try not to listen too closely. You’re there to take orders and to make certain she is taken care of. The other women are looking after her just fine and you’d hate to embarrass her by consciously witnessing her unraveling.
Mona burps behind her hand and you see how her throat locks up. She’s hardly in better condition. Charlotte is slumping from her foray into the tequila and hardly seems cognizant of more than try to clear away the grey streaks from Grace’s cheeks.
You rush forward as Mona’s shoulders rise. You grab the metal bucket meant for ice and shove it under her mouth. She throws up and hugs the container as she fills it with alcoholic bile and half-digested crustini. Charlotte groans and covers her mouth.
“Oh, Mona, why do you have to do that?” She whines, “ugh, I need to get out--”
She hurries off into the attached bathroom and the door slams. Lillian is still entirely unaware. You wonder if it has anything to do with the pill she slipped from a small tin earlier. Whatever the reason, it doesn’t matter. What concerns you is what’s happening right then.
Mona finishes and nearly drops the bucket. You catch it and set it on the bar. She slumps back and closes her eyes, her head lolling as she mutters. This is no way for refined women to behave. You could never have seen Grace like this, let alone these women in their Chanel and Louboutins.
“Mrs. Shelby,” you go to your boss and lean down, “should I get the car?”
“Where is my husband?” She snarls in your face, her tears dissolving at once. “I want Thomas. Right now.”
“Mrs. Shelby, I don’t know if he’s still here--”
“I don’t care if he’s here,” she snaps and pushes you away, “don’t talk to me until you find him.”
You gulp and rub your shoulder where she shoved you. This isn’t good. It’s the very reason you don’t drink. People are so ugly when they do.
You turn to Mona as she groans, half-bent over her lap. Charlotte returns in a stagger and Lillian sways with her head and shoulders slouched. Alright, you have a plan.
“Lil,” you go over to the woman by the window, “can you help Mona? Your taxi is here?”
“Taxi? Where’s the streetcar?” She demands.
“It’s been delayed but the cab will get you all home,” you promise her, plotting how you’ll flag down a car once you get them out in the fresh air. “Mona,” you go back to the woman on the couch. “Charlotte, how about you help too! It’s been a long night, aren’t you all tired?”
Your pulse is thumping in your temples. You rarely ever speak to Grace’s friends, especially not like this. You feel like a mother getting her children in line. The three companions finally cluster together, Mona clinging to the other two as they wobble towards the door. You lead them as if you’re dangling cheese before a mouse.
It takes some time and a few close calls to get them down the spiralled stairs. On even ground, they move a bit better but the dancing bodies and hollers add to the disorder of the night. When you get them outside, a bouncer catches Lillian before she slip on her stiletto heel. He’s got a round belly and a leering smile.
“Careful, ma’am, that’s a mighty fine dress to be mussing,” he warns as he sets her straight.
You skirt around them and wave at a yellow car just down the way. As it heads towards you, you take out your phone and sift through Grace’s shared contact book. Oh gosh, where is Charlotte? You suppose if you send them to just one house, they’ll be alright.
You find Charlotte’s address as the driver pulls up. The bouncer comes forward again to assist the women into the car and you thank him. He dips his head chivalrously as he folds Lillian’s legs into the taxi. You cringe and poke your head inside to instruct the driver. You hope they get there otherwise you might be handing out resumes again.
You shut the door and turn back to face the club. You’re not the sort to frequent those places and only Grace’s presence lures you in. The bouncer walks you back to the doors and you flit back inside. You’re caught in the crush, sent crashing into another person by a flailing body. You fight through the crowd, putting your elbow up as you raise your other arm to protect your head.
You trip free of the wall of dancers and reach the bottom of the stairs to the private room. You blow out a breath and look up, then around. You should try to find Mr. Shelby. You need help with Grace as it is but you’re terrified that you may get her into trouble. She’s drunk and she’s not thinking. You doubt he’ll be impressed with her in her current state. He rarely seems impressed with anything.
“Are you looking for me?” The voice jolts you and you jump as you face the very man who’d only just been haunting your mind. You nod and blink dumbly. “My wife...”
“Sir, um,” you look back and forth guiltily, “she’s... not feeling well--”
“She’s drunk,” he says pointedly. “Hmm,” his lips curve but it’s not really a smile. “Yes, she does love her champagne. We discussed this before, didn’t we?” His dark lashes flick and his jaw squares as he peers up the stairs, “well, then, shall we go save her from herself?”
“Um, sir, she didn’t eat much, maybe--”
“Do not make excuse for her. I pay you to keep her busy, not to cover her tail,” he insists, “please, after you.”
He gestures up the stairs and you lower your gaze, “I’m sorry, Mr. Shelby. I’m only concerned for her.”
“Someone should be if she isn’t concerned for herself,” he remarks.
You turn and start up the steps. He follows, closely. You lead him up the metal stairs and open the door to the private room. Your met with the shatter of the champagne bottle as it flies at the door frame next to you. You put your hand up as shards of glass rain across your right side.
“How dare you leave me like that--” She snarls.
“Grace!” Mr. Shelby brushes by you, nudging you gently out of his way, only to storm towards his wife.
“Oh, there you are,” she sneers, “finally done with your whore--”
“I’ve been about business while you’ve been here drowning in champagne. Champagne I am paying for.” He bends over her, looming dangerously.
“Business,” she mocks then scoffs as she stares up at him defiantly, “sure.”
“Don’t,” he warns as he stands straight, “I paid for you to have a night out. I thought perhaps you might appreciate that. I wonder when you became so spoiled.”
She pouts and juts out her chin, “Tommy...” she reaches for him as he turns away, tearing his sleeve away from her grasp.
He marches for the door and stop right beside you, “are you alright?”
“Sir, I was only startled--”
You wince as he dusts off a piece of glass from your shoulder.
“Get her home,” he demands, “but not at your own risk. I wouldn’t be so disappointed to hear if she blusters herself into the gutters.”
He huffs and pulls open the door. You watch him go as Grace devolves into drunken sobs. You hope she doesn’t remember this. You’d rather forget it yourself.

The chapel on the left of the altar of the Onze-Lieve-Vrouw ter Zavelkerk in Brussels belonging to the Thurn und Taxis family.
Saint Ursula Chapel, a unique Italian Baroque style chapel in black Belgian marble and white Carrara marble, was built according to a design by Lucas Fayd'herbe (1617-1697). The sculptures are by various southern Netherlandish sculptors. The restored Caritas statue made by Jan van Delen was recently placed back. The statue was confiscated by French revolutionaries in 1795 and therefore returned after more than 200 years.
The von Thurn und Taxis family initiated international postal traffic in Europe. A German descendant is today known as the richest man in his thirties and the largest private landowner in Europe with 28,000 hectares. The powerful 'DHL predecessors' von Thurn und Taxis had the chapels added to the church in the second half of the seventeenth century.
Von Thurn und Taxis (also Thurn and Tassis in Dutch) is a German noble family of Italian origin that acquired great wealth through its activities in the postal system. The current monarch, Albert II von Thurn und Taxis, resides in the Fürstliches Schloss of Regensburg. For two centuries the family was based in Brussels, where they owned a city palace (ca. 1500-1700). The still existing site of Thurn and Taxis was at the time the grazing land for the post horses.
The patriarch of the postal dynasty was Omodeo Tasso, the first family member to be located in Cornello dei Tasso. At the end of the 13th century, he and 32 relatives organized the Compagnia dei Corrieri, a courier company that worked on behalf of the Serenissima (Venice). She provided foot connections between Venice, Milan and Rome, Genoa,... The Bergamots had always occupied a major place in the old Venetian postal service (couriers were called bergamaschi in Italy). At the end of the 15th century they organized themselves into the Compagnia dei Corrieri dei Roma, a company controlled by the Tasso family.
Other members of the family were called to the Papal States to take care of the papal post. They did this from 1460 to 1539. It was two brothers from another branch who eventually took the business to a European level: Janetto and Francesco. As head of the family (procuratore generale della famiglia e società di Tassi), Janetto entered into a contract with Emperor Maximilian I to set up a truly transnational post (1489-90). He had to connect the emperor's headquarters in Innsbruck with Italy, the Burgundian Netherlands (Mechelen) and France. Janetto was given the title Kuriermeister and called on his brother Francesco and his cousin Giovanni Battista. Under the leadership of the trio, an innovative relay service was created that allowed messages to travel at a speed never before seen in Europe. Thanks to a succession of stopping places along the routes, it was possible to constantly change horses and riders. Only the leather mailbag ("Felleisen") was constantly in motion.
Francesco settled in the Netherlands around 1500, after his brother David had prepared the way. Under Maximilian's son Philip the Fair, he became postmaster and captain and had a beautiful city palace built in Brussels. After the government of Spain de facto fell to Philip, he renewed his agreement with Francesco of Tassis. The new postal contract of January 18, 1505 included more destinations and, for the first time, binding order deadlines (extended in winter). The postmaster guaranteed strict compliance with his life. A star-shaped network of postal routes departed from Brussels: to Innsbruck, to Paris-Blois-Lyon, to Toledo-Granada. For the important route to Spain, an alternative was provided via the Alps and the sea in the event of war with France.

Interesting nuggets in this DM article on Harold's BFF: Prince Harry's 'best friend': The hired security guard who has had lonely royal's back for more than a decade - including on THAT trip to Las Vegas and Meghan Markle's star-studded New York baby shower Harold's BFF is the former Met protection office that accompanied him on his many dissolute outings pre-Megs, including Vegas naked billiards. He quit the official gig in 2022 (after getting a service medal from the late Queen) and now is Harold's very expensive private security.I have to say it seems a bit pathetic that your BFF is a guy you pay thousands a day for over-the-top security, but I'm not a paranoid self-centered dim wastral with zero financial acumen so what do I know.I wonder whether this is the guy Harold wrote about punching in Spare? Or the guy who forced some taxi driver to speed through the Paris streets so Harold could recreate his mother's last moments? And this little bit thrown in at the end caught my eye:Harry is said to spend his days doing school runs and going on bike rides with his security staff, with growing resentment at the Sussexes' public image in contrast to that of his brother and sister in law, the Prince and Princess of Wales. One old friend last month told The Times how Harry is now a 'very angry boy', adding: 'Anyone who knows him feels he'd rather be top of the pops here with everyone loving him, as they do with William and Kate.' Is anyone surprised at the idea that Harold's resentment and jealousy of his brother still burns bright? That he thinks the little people should adore him?I think we all recognize this face next to partying Harold in 2011. I just had not realized how quite long he has been with Harold and Megs.https://ift.tt/wdBf1n4 to add: I think this is Langdown (in the hat) with Harold in Vegas in 2012. link to article about Harold and his close protection in Vegas: https://ift.tt/o6bOfuF post link: https://ift.tt/fAbp1ea author: Von_und_zu_ submitted: September 14, 2024 at 02:27PM via SaintMeghanMarkle on Reddit disclaimer: all views + opinions expressed by the author of this post, as well as any comments and reblogs, are solely the author's own; they do not necessarily reflect the views of the administrator of this Tumblr blog. Hunt for Tragedy: Chapter 2
Paris, the city of romance, where couples go to get married, and friends go to become lovers.
But Scout isn't here for romance. Not yet, anyway. He still has to mend things with Sniper. He's here for his family will.
The airport smells sweet and vaguely of floor cleaner as Scout walks towards the baggage claim, Jonah and Miss Pauling following him.
"There's gonna be a private taxi here to pick us up, courtesy of Mann Co." The assistant says, looking up from her pocket notepad. "If we're lucky, it shouldn't take us more than 2 hours to reach the mansion."
"2 hours? Where da hell is this thing, the freakin' mountains?" Scout looks at Miss Pauling, scowling slightly.
"...uh, yeah, actually. It's built in a remote region at the top of a mountain just outside of Paris." Miss Pauling pushes her glasses up, looking at Scout.
"Oh. That's... kinda cool, actually." Scout grabs his bag, as well as Jonah's, tossing it to him. "Eh.. when are we meetin' with Snipes and Doc?"
"They're on the other side of the airport. Their plane's just landed." Jonah reports, and Scout nods.
Medic had wanted to come with, for a reason he had refused to specify, and Sniper talked Scout into letting him.
Looking around the airport, Scout is fascinated at all the French signs and the maps pointing out tourist locations, despite being unable to read them.
And then he sees the man.
He's wearing a dark trenchcoat and fedora, and a white porcelain mask, staring right at Scout, watching him as he walks.
Must be some kind of weird tourism thing, Scout shrugs, trying to rid himself of the uneasy feeling. But it follows him all the way until he can't see the masked man anymore, and when he looks back, it's almost like the man was never there in the first place.
Weird.
Scout shivers slightly, before turning his focus back to meeting with Medic and Sniper.
It must be just a coincidence that the man chose to single out Scout from the crowd.
Right?
Oh damn out of nowhere, minificanon update, sick! Good work as always:)
#minificanon#I hope the full blog comes out soon! i cant wait to be able to see it all in one place :)#and to be able to like and follow it obviously

THE KILLER (spoilers galore)
I watched “The Killer” on Netflix. It’s directed by David Fincher and stars Michael Fassbender in the title role.
It was good seen Fassbender again. He’s an actor I enjoy. His last movie credit was in 2019 for “Dark Phoenix”. I believe he took time off to focus on his private life (marrying actress Alicia Vikander and having a child with her.) He also participated in race car driving.
But back to “The Killer”. The first 20 minutes focused on Fassbender as his unnamed assassin prepares to kill someone who will be staying in a hotel room across the street. As he he assembles his weapons, naps, and does yoga, Fassbender narrates his mantra, and the precise method of his kills. He also explains his indifference about why he does what he does. We’re led to believe he is an expert assassin who never misses… until minute 21 - when he missed his intended target, and shoots a dominatrix instead. (WTF - so much for building our expectations then blowing them!)
Rather take another shot to kill his true target, he bails, collecting his paraphernalia and wiping up his finger prints, then leaves.
For the next 10 minutes or so, we follow Fassbender as he makes his way from Paris to the Dominican Republic (flying through the UK & US). Several times he stops to wash and shave, wiping down the sinks and spraying them (I assume to defeat possible DNA tests).
In one scene, an airline agents comments on how many frequent flyer miles he has accumulated. (HUH? He is so fastidious about not leaving a trail yet he doesn’t want to miss out on frequent flyer miles?!?)
When he finally arrives at his secret compound in the Dominican Republic he notices something suspicious and realizes someone cased the place to kill him. You see, this second assassin left distinct footprints and a bunch of cigarette butts at the gate. (If you’re going to hire an assassin to kill another assassin, he should be as good or better than the intended victim!)
Fassbender learns his girlfriend has been tortured and rushes to the hospital to see her. If I was an assassin hired to kill another assassin I’d stake out the hospital to see if the target shows up… nope! Instead Fassbender has touching reunion with his girlfriend and plots his own revenge. (BTW, why did the second assassins let the girlfriend live? It would have been much more clean to kill her.)
Fassbender discovers the thugs who tortured his girlfriend arrived at the compound by taxi. He decides to get revenge on the taxi driver. The poor driver had delivered the thugs to the compound and had to wait while they entered the house, 30 minute later, he drove them back to the airport. Technically this taxi drive was a witness - why did the thugs let him live. But they didn’t have to worry, because Fassbender kills the poor guy!
Next Fassbender heads to New Orleans to see his handler, to learn who were the thugs who tortured his girlfriend. The handler refuses so Fassbender kills him with a nail gun. He about to kill Dolores, the secretary, but she makes a bargain. She will tell him the names of the thugs, if he will make her death look like an accident (she has children and wants them to have closure). They both honor their ends of the bargain. (Kerry O'Malley who plays Dolores is very good in a small role.)
Next he heads to Florida to kill one of the hired thugs. But Fassbender isn’t as stealthy as he thinks he is. The thug is ready for him and the two have a knock down drag out fight. Thank Gawd Fassbender has experience in superhero movies because even tho the thug out weigh him by 100 pounds, Fassbender survives dozens of punches and at least a half dozen body blows. (In addition to magnetic powers he must be invulnerable.)
For those of you interested in this kind of thing, Fassbender has a full body nude scene at minute 81. Unfortunately it’s obscured by a steamed up shower glass.
Next Fassbender heads to New York to to kill the second assassin responsible for torturing his girlfriend. This second hired killer is played by Tilda Swinton (who is only refereed to as Q-Tip because of her white hair). Apparently she’s not as good at her job because even tho Fassbender is pretty obvious following her in a car, she doesn’t notice.
Fassbender confronts Swinton in a posh restaurant. She seems to accept her fate and delivers an interesting speech… one assassin to another. Except she included an anal sex joke - weird.
BTW - what was the Handler’s purpose of sending the second killer and the thug to Fassbender’s secret compound? They tried to get the girlfriend to reveal a secret, but according to her, she didn’t talk. Then they returned to their respective homes in Florida and New York having failed. Apparently this Handler has a very incompetent team of hired assasins.
I think the Killer’s kill-count is now 6 which would have been unnecessary if he hadn’t missed his target at the beginning.
If you’re curious, Fassbender took 8 flights to kill 6 people, so he earned approximately 11,090 more frequently flyer miles.
Next stop Chicago. Fassbender tracks down the billionaire who paid for the original kill job (you know, the one that Fassbender missed). The billionaire doesn’t know who Fassbender is, and says he didn’t ask that Fassbender is punished (killed) for missing his target. And in the biggest WTF of the movie - Fassbender believes him and lets him live, then leaves.
So in the fucked up Topsy-Turvy world of The Killer - the billionaire gets to live while the innocent poor taxi driver is killed. That’s a big fuck-you to the little guy.
In the end, Fassbender returns to his girlfriend back in the Dominican Republic, where they relax in the sun. (Remember how easy was the first time the thugs found his girlfriend?!?)
The Killer is based on a French graphic novel series with 14 volumes, so undoubtably there will be sequels.
VICTIMS:
ALIASES:
Throughout the movie Fassbender’s unnamed assassin has access to dozens of passports and credit cards, each with a different alias. We learn nine of them… all characters from old sitcoms from the 1960s to early 1990s. Were these in-jokes by Fincher and Andrew Kevin Walker, the screenwriter (both children of the 1970s).
Felix Unger - on his flight to Miami
Archie Bunker - on his flight to the Dominican Republic
Oscar Madison - was when he ships a package via FedEx
Howard Cunningham - on his flight to New Orleans
Reuben Kincard - car rental in Florida
Lou Grant - flight to New York
Sam Malone - car rental in New York
George Jefferson - at bank
Robert Hartley - gym membership

I've a confession to make.
I'm not the typical hopeless romantic.
I mean, yes, you'll find me doing
all those silly things fools in love do.
But when they talk about us romantics
they only talk about grand gestures and
dramatics and cheesy pick-up lines
the candle-lit dinners and box of
chocolates and red balloons and
flying lovers to Paris for Valentine's.
They don't tell you who we are
without the lovers.
They don't tell you about falling
head over heels in love with life.
How we re-enact the scenes
of sad songs while looking
out the window of share cabs
how we write poems about Bombay monsoons despite the dead rats
and the traffic from blocked roads
how we've romanticized
places more than people,
living more than loving
and so if you ever find me sitting
next to you in an old taxi
driving on the sea-link,
ask me about my favourite writers.
I'll tell you about how the last
kali-peeli through this cable-stayed
bridge on New Year's Eve
had Orhan Pamuk and Kiran Desai
discussing Istanbul politics in it.
Tomorrow morning, if you stop by
at my little apartment for tea,
don't laugh at me when
I tell you I imagine
Freddie Mercury playing the piano
for Mary in a private studio
somewhere in Versova
that Robert Allen Zimmerman
changed his name to Bob Dylan
nine seconds after stuffing his
mouth with a vada Pao
at a roadside stall that later got
shut down to build Pali Village Cafe.
And if you stand close, you'll smell
overpriced perfume from some
department store, but I'll never
admit to it.
Instead, I'll tell you stories about
being the love child
of shiuli and gulmohar trees
how I was born when they recited
Tagore's Gitanjali to each other.
So the next time
they talk about us romantics
tell them we are more than
daydreams about finding soulmates
about wearing our hearts on our
sleeves at first sight like in the movies
tell them we see love in everything
but most importantly, in ourselves
and so every time
I bring you fresh flowers,
know that I grow gardens
in my backyard
just
for myself.
