A small report about my visit to prison PI Hazard during my prisontour in Suriname.~ On the 4th day we took the car and a van for a 4 hour drive to Nickerie, a town not too far from my family’s village, Coronie. During the drive I saw beautiful palmtrees, rice fields, jungle parrots and lots of banana trees. After we arrived we visited the local bookshop of #SBG that sells my books and we then went for dinner at the local Javanese restaurant. After that we drive to the prison. ~ It was a prison with a fairly open character. The inmates in grow their own crops of vegetables, they hold ducks and they can do errands outside the prison. The frontgate was not so strict but all guards do walk around armed. The atmosphere was quite peaceful and the men that I spoke to were very open about their life and goals eventhough some of them had committed heavy crimes. One man also shared about his struggle of staying on the right path cause when he faces adversity he still finds he wants to do the right thing but ends up doing the wrong thing. I encouraged him to keep on pursuing the right thing and ask for help from God and his family when troubled. This conversation also triggered me to think of a way how to set u a buddy program in Suriname Cause there is a great need for it. ~ ~ After sharing my story we sang some more songs and I closed with a prayer and I left some of my books there. It was a good day! #trip #tour #jail #prison #change #story #choices #pihazard #testimony #suriname #lifechanging #blackrockstar #prisonfellowship #surinambiblesociety (bij Nickerie, Nickerie, Suriname)

“Seriously?”
That was my response when I was asked to help record a live album inside a prison. It was 1998 and I was only nine months out of recording school.
The person asking for assistance was my friend Larry Howard, who’d been working inside of penitentiaries for years with Prison Fellowship Ministries. He explained the deal. We would break down our entire recording studio and all the gear we had, load it into a moving van, and drive it to Broad River Correctional in South Carolina.
From there, we’d take over a large concrete room and bring in a dozen or so well-known Christian artists. The inmates would get a great show and we’d produce a live album to give away to supporters of the ministry. Made sense. Actually sounded like fun...

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. #Repost @prisonfellowship ・・・ “Prison Fellowship Academy was presented to me at a time when I felt alone, hopeless, and broken. I knew I wanted some things to change in my life, but I didn’t know where to start. I can tell you that, with every fiber of my being, I am thankful for this program. It has helped me get to know myself, understand why I have made the choices I have made, and how to live a life that I truly want for myself.” #graduation #hope #incarceration #transformation https://www.instagram.com/p/CFWeUgwlj2R/?igshid=mpg7ydl9zata

Apex Customs Announces Holiday #CharityDrive PHOENIX, Dec. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- #ApexCustoms announced today its ongoing commitment to support the work of local #nonprofits bringing much-needed care and attention to families in the #Phoenixarea. The widely respected local #customautomotive shop is encouraging its customers to give what they can to #PrisonFellowship, The #SalvationArmy and #ToysforTots this holiday season. Apex President and CEO Tyler C. said he knows firsthand how important these programs, and their #donors, are to children in Arizona. Tyler's family was one of those on the receiving end of their generosity. "I knew growing up that my family did not have enough money for gifts. Somehow, we had them. It was later that I found out the presents we did receive for Christmas was a result of these programs." Describing the initiative as his attempt to "pay it forward," Tyler emphasized his personal commitment and that of Apex Customs to support community efforts. "I feel that this has influenced me in my life. We try to do with Apex as much as we can with the community. I can promise you as we continue to grow we'll do more and more." Anyone wishing to help can donate directly to the organization or at Apex Custom's location in Phoenix. The shop will collect gifts up until December 20, 2017. Prison Fellowship (Angel Tree) Every Christmas, the Angel Tree program of Prison Fellowship buys, wraps and delivers presents to children of people living in prison. By giving gifts on their parents' behalf, the organization hopes to meet the emotional and spiritual needs of prisoners' children and families. Angel Tree was started by a former prisoner in 1982 and is the largest US organization serving the children of those in prison. https://www.prisonfellowship.org/about/angel-tree/ Salvation Army (Christmas Angel) The history of The Salvation Army goes back to 1865, when a Methodist minister and his wife in London, England, saw the need to integrate ministry with feeding the hungry and providing shelter to the homeless. Today, Salvation Army volunteers with red kettles are a common sight around the holidays. The Salvation Army's Christmas Angel.

What can we do?
So now after that, you have to ask yourself what we can do for this cause. There are already interests groups speaking out in support of incarcerated people.
The Sentencing project focuses on the problems inmates face, leaving lots of information to become more educated on this issue.
Prisonfellowship also touches on the problems harm convicted people go through, and how to support them through their problems.
FairVote specifically regards the inequalities of voting, including felons.
All of these resources are a good start if you’re willing to take the time to learn and potentially take the steps to help solve this issue so many people are facing. All we can do right now is pressure the states to take action and propose bills that eradicate these problems.
Find your states senator to contact them on this issue. Research state reprehensive and chamber members to support for future elections. The ball is already rolling for this problem to be solved! Keep pushing. Sites like Ballotpedia shows who backs bills, so there's a good place to find people to support.

#FridayForGiving - will you support Prison Fellowship today?
When this came through, I wanted to support it - even though I am personally struggling on Universal Credit - there are many others worse off than I am right now! How about you?
I gave £5, and I am making a personal pledge to give £5 a month for the next 12 months. Misfits Ministries exists to reach those who are lost, least, lonely and lepers - and this is just one of the ways we can help do just that. Will you join us?
Follow the link, give if you can, share whether you can or not. God Bless You, and Thank You!

Prison Fellowship Graduation Testimony
Prison Fellowship - Desoto Annex           Here is a reflection on the graduation and graduates from May 2014-It was a time of healing, reconciliation and celebration as students shared a meal with family and guests following the ceremony. One mom shared, with a wide smile on her face, that this was the best birthday present she could have that day, sharing the day with her son. Comments heard that the day included “never seen a graduation service like this before” and “best worship service I have ever been to” and “what a gift, what a joyful day.”  A TUMI graduate stood holding his toddler granddaughter as his daughter looked on with a smile. He shared that they had recently reconciled over the phone after 16 years of silence when his daughter received the invitation to attend her dad’s graduation. The day was covered in much prayer and God was smiling
