sometimes, they sell really cute bandages at jc pharmacy in lumina square. while shopping for the girls with lighter, you decided to pick those up too, mainly just because they're cute. while lighter does some extra shopping, you decided to look at the stationery section. seeing all of the different sticker designs, animals, bangboos, galaxy, etc. a certain idea pops into your head.

after being able to convince him to let you tie a bow around his bicep, he was basically a flustered mess to even stop you from doing anything more. so while he was playing with the ribbon in his fingers, you seized the opportunity by placing a sticker right on the edge of his shoulder scar.

"and what's this?" his other hand went to feel the little bandage you placed on him. for how large his scar is, something this small would never be able to patch it up.

“it’s cute, and you seem like you need it,” you chirped, carefully peeling off a sticker from its backing and placing it on his chest. he didn’t need a bandage, his scar was healed somewhat, but the feel of your fingers on his skin sent shivers down his spine.

he’s the red scarf of the sons of calydon and he’s letting you place cat stickers on him like it was nothing. “i’m not some sort of cutie you can just, decorate whenever you like,” he protested but didn’t even make an effort to remove them from his body. he doesn’t want to seem like a softie, this was ruining his cool guy personality.

you didn’t really mind what he had to say, still continuing to stick bangboos on him now. if you weren’t going to stop, at the very least he could seem a little more angry (he can’t get angry at you doing something so silly). with a cross of his arms and his head turned, he effectively stopped you from placing anymore on his body.

however, he just opened himself up to even more opportunities. a quick little kiss on his cheek then a sticker to seal it in place had him staring wide eyed at you. he didn’t really think you would be THAT bold but the blush on your cheeks made it obvious to him that you were just as flustered by your own actions as him.

the red on his face was double yours though and he’d try to say something about it but it just comes out as stutters and half completed sentences. he loosens up, pushing up his sunglasses. if he’s getting your affection in such a… stupidly silly but cute way, maybe it’s not so bad to be covered in stickers and bandages…

I also carved individual stamps of the starry eyeballs based off the eye shapes in the moth's wings. I love love love love how they came out, and also had a lot of fun with the variety of little star stamps I made to embellish things with.

As Tales of Symphonia was my first Tales game and the only game I've beaten like five times completely... it holds a special place in my heart. I really love the cast and I was a walking strategy guide for it back in the GameCube days.

I had all the unlockable outfits carried over into NG+ (gotta collect those swimsuits baby) and honestly. I just. Really like this game. I haven't played it in a while but I have it on PS3 and now I long to hook it up and play it (sorry to my many other Tales games I haven't beaten once on PS3......).

the frustrating aromantic representation of chuck tingle's "bury your gays"

i feel like i should preface this by saying that i'm a huge chuck tingle fan and, representation aside, i greatly enjoyed his book. so this is not like, a hate take down. this will contain spoilers for bury your gays, you are warned.

the parts i have issues with will be more towards the end and are marked.

a quick synopsis: misha is a queer horror writer who is told to either kill off his gay characters after getting them together, or let them live and be straight (for the algorithm, ratings, etc). while he is reeling from this he begins being stalked by the monsters/villains of his past works. plot happens and these monsters are really nanobot contractions from his studio's fx company. misha survives these attempts on his life (and his boyfriend's and best friend's), eventually giving a heartfelt award speech about the need for a shift towards queer joy. when he comes back to work the entire studio is like decked out in pride flags and the now stereotypically gay management tells him that queer is IN! even better, it's profitable (according to the algorithm). but these nanobots are still out there. so they go to the fx studio to insert a virus that takes them down, the best friend, tara, being an unprecedented aroace that the algorithm has no information on due to a lack of content, is able to circumvent the nanobots and take them down!! happy ending!! yippee!!

i'll be going in order of the book, touching on the times where tara's identity is relevant

tara's aspecness is established almost immediately when she says "you know i don't swing that way...i don't swing any way, baby." classic aspec joke, i have no issue with this.

its first explicit mention is on page 42, "tara is aromantic and asexual, which has always made me appreciate her take on relationship advice." ok this part is so real. we are so good at that.

ok now we get into the main stuff. Tara says, "do you realize how hard it is to tell your parents you're asexual?" this part is true, and in comparison to misha coming out as gay. and i really appreciate it highlights the strange societal position aspecs are in!! it's hard to affirm an identity defined by a lack. and even harder for baby wanting parents to accept an identity that is largely incompatible with the nuclear family model. as this is in reference to like sex -> having a child, mentioning just the asexuality makes sense. but it is still weird to not mention how hard explaining aromanticism would be considering aces can more easily have straight passing relationships. let's begin a tally: ace mentions: 2, aro mentions: 1.

(!) time skip we are now towards the end. misha is giving his heartfelt speech, "i call on all of you to usher in a new era of stories where the gay, or bi, or lesbian, or asexual, or pansexual, or trans character lives happily ever after. buy those stories. make those stories profitable." we are now entering the territory here i begin to get a little angry. fandoms and drama in shows are so closely tied with romance. they are profitable. they are like, the lifeblood of ao3, etc. people also have this notion that you need a partner to be happy, and that this is a universal goal. so characters and story arcs that stray away from this tend to be, y'know, less profitable. and since this is extremely relevant to aromanticism as an identity and important to debunk, the lack of a mention of aromanticism is frankly stunning. our stories are not wanted, we have no characters to live happily ever after. because we are not profitable. we don't get that joy. so where are we? this is a nitpick but i find it strange that misha would forget to mention like, entirely half of his friend's identity. ace mentions: 3, aro mentions: 1

(!!!) this is the most egregious part to me. when i read this part i was genuinely so stunned that i started crying. ok so i've established that aros have very little representation. it is a fact that there is less aro representation than ace representation. especially in regards to non-ace aros. "there's a hero clad in pink, purple, and blue, the bi one...this continues on and on until every aspect of the community has been covered...tara steps up next to me, her eyes locked on the poster. "there' no asexual hero...they've got everyone up there besides an ace character...every fucking time." ok. so. a lack of representation for aspecs is like a Thing That We All Know. as also established, aros are not algorithm friendly, so i just see no plausible way that there is aro representation but not ace representation. and there's just this like, poetic irony to this. that aros are so forgotten, so uncared for, that the author of the fucking book forgot to even mention them. because there are three ways this shakes out here. either there is an aro in the line up and dr. tingle deprived us of the validation we need to justify our anger for a lack of representation (which effects us all but aros more). or he just straight up forgot to include us. or he's grossly conflating the two identities. there's no good option. anyway. ace mentions: 5, aro mentions: 1

here we have yet another mention of tara being ace, yet not aro, "my name's tara. i'm the asexual in the corner everyone's been ignoring." would be funny if aromanticism hadn't been grossly ignored once again. ace mentions: 6, aro mentions: 1

(!!!) time for tara to save the day (girlboss). "just pull up all the information you have on asexual and aromantic heroes...oh wait, that's gonna be pretty fucking difficult because there are almost no human asexual heroes represented in popular media, are there." like actually like the fuck. what the fuck. there are so little aro heroes that the author forgot about the one he had!! there are so little aro heroes that the author fucking forgot to mention how few there are. incredible. ace mentions: 10, aro mentions: 2 (ace mentions not quoted here but part of the rant)

so. thats the end of the book. it seems to me that dr. tingle might be a little confused. he's been a great supporter in the past of the aspec community. but there is a pattern of aro erasure in this book that frankly, pisses me off! but wait, there is more!

dr. tingle. babygirl. bestie. what the fuck is this? op explicitly said aroace character. and what do you do? you reblog with only an ace flag. do you not remember your character's own identity? or do you not acknowledge aros outside or aces? let's look at some more quotes from this post.

I've been slightly stuck with the zine project for a bit

like I got the layout and stuff *done* as far as I can tell. it looks good on the computer, works as intended when printed out normally... but I'm hitting two mental blocks right now

the first is just like, the content itself. it feels weird publishing and presumably selling an advertisement for like, a pirate anime broadcast lol. part of me is paranoid I could get in trouble for that somehow, though idk who would be looking. and also I'm gonna be publishing this from within the cleo watkins persona, which is sort of awkward to let slip into the real world, and makes it something I wouldn't necessarily want to include in a portfolio, which is half the point of this whole exercise (although there's also a bunch of mildly dirty jokes in the word games anyway)

the other thing is that printing is gonna be a hassle. the local kinko's print shop doesn't do full bleed printing, and print shops that *do* tend to predictably charge a lot more, or I gotta like actually get on the phone with people to get quotes, or both. I also only need the full edge to edge print on the cover spread, so it seems like something I really should try to get a deal on, but it'll be a hassle going around getting quotes. and handing the material over is kind of embarrassing for previously described reasons

My first regret purchase and turning it around!

Soo, over a month ago I finally received a doll that I've been waiting for for weeks, but what was supposed to be a happy day turned into dread as I realised that I did not like her. Now, no shade to anyone who has her and loves her! I hope you do, since she deserves it. She's just not for me.

It shouldn't have been that way; I did my research and waited for two weeks before ordering it to make sure it wasn't just an impulse buy. I looked trough all the pictures and I loved them.

It just wasn't meant to be, I guess.

She's been sitting on my desk for over a month. I tried posing her in interesting ways and changing her outfit, but it didn't work. I was scared of personalising and drastically changing her, just in case I decided to resell. But still, nothing worked, and seeing her just filled me with dread and regret. It made me dislike her even more, to the point of not just disappointment over her but actually hating her.

Finally, I decided to talk to my boyfriend about the situation. He doesn't know anything about dolls, but he'll happily listen to me ramble about anything, which is one of the best ways to find solutions (if you don't have a boyfriend, talking to a friend/toy/imaginary person works the same way!). I realised that it was honestly just the doll's head that bothered me. As it happens, I have a doll on the way whose head I could take- I wasn't planning on using it anyway. The neck peg fit, and so I went on to make plans to totally change the doll! The original:

Looking back, she's really not the worst. It was just my regret taking over, but I'm happy I ended up changing her.

Now, for the transformation! I transed the doll hehe^_^ I made this lil edit and fell in love with him instantly. The head is from UfDoll Doremi series. I don't have it yet, but the neck peg fits so I think the head should too. I want him to be a sheep-satyr!

First thing I did was the dye job on his legs. The original white was a little strange to me with the hair tufts. I think the brown gradient looks much nicer, and it makes the hooves so much prettier!

Since I don't have the head yet, the only thing left to do was clothes!

I really like how his outfit came out! I gave him a ring as an anklet and a hair-adornment for his arm. The loincloth is made from an old pair of pants. I made the scarf by sewing a rectangle into a tube and putting a piece of wire inside, so it keeps the shape.

All in all, I'm so happy with him now, he's so much better and I finally love him as he deserves<3

Aight So I Have Dyslexia (And Dyscalculia But That's Number Stuff) So Some Letters Are The Same Letter To Me When Lower Case (Some Upper Case Too RIP)

So Capitalizing The First Letter Of Each Word Helps Me Find The Letter I'm Looking For And Reduces The Amount Of Spelling Errors. I Also Type Faster This Way Cause I Can Find The Letter I'm Looking For.

Unfortunately I've Found That Some People Have Difficulty Reading My Insanity Due To The Whole Every Word Is Capitalized Thing So It's A Bit Of A Double Edged Sword. :/

paneling for comics that won't be printed is so weird because for physical ones you have the restriction of how much can you physically fit into a fairly small paper + how small can a font be while still readable, but for digital art it's just whatever......

sigh.. I'm following the mokuhanga tag because I love the technique, but I keep seeing people use it like it's just another word for relief printing. Like, yes a cow's a mammal, but a mammal is not necessarily a cow, is it.

And yet I can't treat them like other spam taggers and block the, because some of that work is actually pretty nice. Also don't want to filter out the linocut tag (they're usually linocut prints), because I don't dislike linocuts. It's just not what I'm looking for!!
