They really said "let's film this guy like he's Marilyn Monroe."

Not just the pan, but we've got the slow motion, we've got the wind in his hair, we've got "keep this man wet all season", we've got low cut tops, we've got restraints and suggestive camera angles, we've got shots framed specifically to include body parts without his face.

Of course we've got many examples of the slow pan. Including a classic from The Mask for comparison. His intro slow-pan is in the original post, but there are more.

Other example I couldn't find in a gif: Slow pan in probation onesie as he's fixing the latch.

Yes let's put him in clingy material and get him wet.

Framing shots to include body parts but no face:

We know they are incredibly purposeful in how they frame their shots. We've got books on those other shelves. They set it up this way on purpose.

There's another example I couldn't find a gif of, so go check out the framing in 1x7 when they're talking about the treasure map in Stede's cabin.

here's your Ed @impossiblebird! I read your fic and wanted to do something that could work with it but then it just turned out he wanted be a princess so bad, and I couldn't say no.

It's not perfect (yeah, it's a cutout because I fucked up the background) but I don't think I could improve it much without starting over, so I hope this is good enough! It's also too big for my scanner, so I included closeups to make up for the quality.
