Prince that was promised comes from Daemon Targaryen's line.
Fan theory.
Don't really know of someone said this before or not but this is what came to my mind.
In House of the Dragon we are all talking about how the prince that was promised came from Rhaenyra line. Now that is right considering how Aegon iii is her son.
But I have some other thoughts. Here are some of them pointed out.
Rhaenyra's son, her own sons (Jace, Luke and Joffery) didn't survive the DoD. But her son's with Daemon (Aegon iii and Viserys ii) survived it.
Now I know Jace, Luke and Joffery were old enough to fight or much rather they had begun Dragon riding where as Aegon and Viserys were just babies. But then let's come to the second point.
Daemon's children: Baela, Rhaena, Aegon and Viserys.
Daemon's surviving children: Baela, Rhaena, Aegon and Viserys.
All of Daemon's children survived. Despite the fact that Baela's dragon was too small and died too even she fought and Rhaena's egg hatched too late too.
Another point:
Daemon Targaryen was Viserys I's heir until after Aemma Targaryen's death and his jape of "heir of the day"
Now, I love Rhaenyra. I really do. But even if we put aside Dance of the Dragon, the line goes like this:
Viserys I → Aegon iii
It is Daemon's son who sits on the throne undisputed. Not one of Rhaenyra's son. But Daemon's son with Rhaenyra.
And we know how things work more with destiny and magic when we are talking of ASOIAF.
Hence, THE PRINCE THAT WAS PROMISED COMES FROM DAEMON TARGARYEN'S LINE.
Now give three cheers for our power couple!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Daenerys and Drogon are Icons
Not even going to lie. Daenerys and Drogon are the faces, the ICONS, of GoT. The most important characters to carry this whole entire series.
Daenerys Targaryen. The last dragon. The surviving member of her household, a woman able to hatch three whole dragons from stone eggs- not even a feat her ancestors could accomplish. Not only did she hatch three dragons, but she did so as a TEENAGER (13 in the books and 16/17 in the show). She did what nobody else could. She brought magic into the world again, she IS magic herself. She walked into a burning pyre alone and determined and she rose from those flames as the Mother of Dragons.
What face is used MOST in all of GoT merch, advertisements, etc.? Daenerys.
She is the literal Stallion who Mounts the World. Leading the Dothraki as one khalassar under her to the ends of the earth.
She learned how to tame Drogon and ride him when vulnerable.
She is the closest one to magic and prophecies. Not only is she the best fit for the Azor Ahai prophecy as the Prince who Was Promised, she is the character that has a good majority of prophecies about her or including her. She is one the first of the main characters in the books to learn about the Song of Ice and Fire through the House of the Undying. She is Azor Ahai, and her dragons lightbringer. She is the Fire in the entire books, as stated by GRRM himself. The one who will lead the light against the darkness and bring a summer that will never end.  “No one ever looked for a girl.” Drogon, her mount, her son, known for being the biggest and most aggressive out her three dragons. Lightbringer brought forth. Balerion the Black Dread reborn.
Now, Drogon is a VERY important dragon. I often see comments about the dragons being ‘nukes’ in the GoT/ASOIAF verse, but they’re truly not. GRRM himself has stated differently, also stating that fire is passion, life, love, etc. and who is fire made flesh? Dany’s dragons. Especially Drogon, who has the hottest temperament of the three and acts on his own will. He IS the fire, connected integrally to Dany, a very important part of her existence. Dany’s journey is about her controlling his fire, and using it for the greater good against the most evil of the show- the Ice. the WW. The Others.
Dany literally has dreams of riding Drogon into battle against the Others on the Trident. Not only showing her importance of her and Drogon to defeating the evil, but also showing how Drogon is just as important to the plot of defeating the great Other and bringing a summer that will never end. The dragons are the GOOD of the story. The key plot in bringing summer to the land and ridding of the Long Night, the darkness, the cold that’s threatening to consume and destroy everyone.
Balerion the Black Dread was used to conquer the Seven Kingdoms under Aegon Targaryen I. Being Balerion reborn, Drogon will save the Seven Kingdoms from the Other. Daenerys as Aegon the Conqueror with teats will be bringing dragons into Westeros, and saving everyone in the process.
She is one of the most connected to ruling, being with her people, saving innocents, and using her dragons for good to save everyone from the Other. She is the face of the show, the heart of the story.

So the first time I realized Game of Thrones was going to be very realistic wasn’t when Ned lost his head, but the first time Robert backhands Cersei on screen. I laughed, asked myself why I was laughing (possibly aloud), realized I was in actual f***ing shock, wrapped a comforter around my shoulders, heard something about “I’ll wear it with pride” and said “Well, this is not going to go the way they think” and therefore was barely shocked at Ned’s beheading at all. Very historic has HBO. Anyway I remembered this because I’m in the GoT/ASoIaF fandoms and I’m trying to figure out what House and/or body — and time period— to place my Obligatory Self-Insert (or rather OC Insert) and I noped right out of the Baratheons and anyone who might be Valyrian enough to be a Targ Bride. So far I’m thinking of Brandon the Burner Gets a New Mom. Also came up with a whole different fic about Aerys getting hypersexual and almost timid around women after Duskendale instead of furious at the gender and therefore abusive but Rhaella soothes it by being Mostly Doormat and now they have not just Rhaegar but a bunch of kids. Aerys is, of course, still a lunatic, and so punishes a young daughter for trying her hand at archery (and being better than one of her brothers) with an Out-Marriage and punishes his Hand at the same time (for marrying Joanna and getting ideas above his station) by giving him a be careful what you wish for betrothal between the wild daughter and Tyrion (Jaime is already Kingsguard). Meanwhile politics is happening. To be triple sure the Targs get this right the Gods make sure the girl is named Shiyona (Death to the Night) instead of Shiara (Death of Kings) and Aerys nearly f***s it up anyway lol. Rhaella Appeasement Targaryen is the real hero here.
If someone wants to write that as The Princess Who Was Promised (Quite Literally So), I can throw it at you to do your own take or we can collab here, ao3, or Google Docs.

Just checking.... We all pronounce Miette like My-TAY in our heads, right?
* Adding a note because I FEEL yall's frustration. I feel similar to the way you feel when someone uses the word "casted" instead of "cast" when someone is cast in a show, for example... So... I PROMISE I never said it aloud. It is indeed "Meyet" said in almost one syllable, with a French roll of the tongue in the middle. TODAY I LEARNED. It means Crumb.

So… I know you don’t really watch House of the Dragon but Daemon had a vision of the Long Night and Daenerys that seems to point that she’s the prince that was promised or azor ahai but wtf the show basically just made her a mad queen? And neither Daenerys or even Jon killed the Night King so the whole prophecy is useless.
I think the real prophecy was the time we wasted along the way. Both us, the viewers, and the Targaryens obsessed with destiny.

so rhaenyra starts s3 with a god complex, believing herself to be the prince that was promised from aegon the conqueror's dream... but hugh and ulf will betray her, mysaria will misunderstand her, coryls will undermine her, bartimos will underestimate her, daemon will abandon her, her people will turn against her and burn her castle and kill her dragon. and when everyone who accepted rhaenyra as queen rejects her, the only person left to love rhaenyra will be alicent, who never loved rhaenyra as queen but rhaenyra as a person ("she was the vision that sustained him [...] it was his love for her that kept him resolute in his choice of heir."). alicent, who abandoned her gods and duty to go to rhaenyra on dragonstone and appeal to the person beneath the crown ("i cast myself on the mercy of a friend who once loved me."). alicent, who's made a god of rhaenyra, not as queen, but as the girl she read with beneath the godswood ("come with me.").

I think my favorite thing about Fionna and Cake has to be how unapologetically queer it is. In every corner, whether it be a cameo appearance from the gay couple,
Tumblr media
a quick visual cue/reference to the pilot,
Tumblr media
a questionable line from Brian David Gilbert of all people,
Tumblr media
[img: Winter King (on the right) saying "Don't think it hasn't occurred to me!" This is in response to Cake suggesting he kiss Simon (left)]
or actually being integral to the primary or secondary plot.

Seeing such a casual yet important and beautiful inclusion of queerness in this show fills me with such indescribable joy. Without even trying, without even stepping away from it's own story, it's making a statement.
Without going out of its way, it's teaching genuine stories while saying "We are here, we have a place, we have a history, and we're here to stay."
