Prince Miles is always happy when his loyal knight returns from yet another of his quests

Edgeworth: "You fought valiantly today Sir Wright. Demonstrating such vigilance to protect your dear prince warrants some reward wouldn't you say?"

Wright: "Oh? And does his highness wish to reward me personally~?"

Edgeworth: "Perhaps I do."

The crown prince Miles Edgeworth is saved from danger thanks to his faithful royal guard Sir Phoenix Wright and decides to pay him a visit in the medical ward. Even after a fearsome fight, Wright came out with only a small scratch and dirtied armor! His luck is unlike any other!

(Really wanted to draw flirty Wrightworth but in a medieval AU setting, being inspired by seeing other people draw them as royalty, and unlike their usual selves they are well aware of each other's "(un)necessary feelings"!)

If I had a nickel for every time I got strangely emotionally invested in a pair of fictional siblings that grew up in toxic environments; in which the brother struggles with self-esteem issues, unhealthy coping mechanisms, self-destructive trauma responses, and problems with how some unjust system or another is upheld; and the sister is very aggressive, violent, and perfectionistic, refers to her brother condescendingly to feel some degree of power over him, and hides what are likely self-esteem issues of her own behind masks of what she falsely perceives as "strength"; I'd have three nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened three times.

In a way, I’ve come full circle with my obsession with Franziska Von Karma. When I was 14, my gay awakening was this woman:

And they’re practically the same character 😭😭😭

(Zuko and Edgeworth have a lot in common too but that’s a separate conversation)

And because I like lists, here’s a list of their similarities:

Striving for perfection and not allowing themselves be anything less

Talks down to their older brother (who has a strained or complicated relationship with their father)

They breakdown when when they aren’t perfect

They’re prodigies in their respective fields

Very emotionally repressed

Very precise in their words, appearance, and fighting style.

Very confident despite being bested by the protagonist(s) multiple times

Gifted kid syndrome

Emotionally unavailable

Raised by single a single father

Fully grown adults cower from these ladies

Their brothers eventually join the protagonists

I also think Zuko and Azula’s mom works as a parallel to Edgeworth’s dad

Miles - Emotionally repressed lawyer is saved from his darkest moments by his *ahem* “childhood friend” that changed the course of his life and the entire legal system. He is as close to canonically asexual as characters not produced by queer writers get, and yet he is also very gay. Everyone in the Fandom believes he has it down bad for the protagonist and he wears a wine red (looks pink af) suit.

Andor - He’s got daddy issues. His grandma is a goddess. He was forced to repress everything about himself to please his father and literally save his life. He was thrown into a prison for being who he is by said father. He has wings.
