My Favorite Expressions in Love Sea Ep. 7

On a personal level this week has been a very mixed bag but I know that if nothing else got me, this show got me. It's gonna come in clutch for me every time, spider bites and potential hauntings be damned.

I. Love. It. Here.

Will I ever not take psychic damage from the expression Tongrak makes when Mahasamut tells him that he cares about him? The answer is no. It's wonderful and devastating every time.

"How would you rate me out of 10?" Mahasamut asks while Tongrak's face plots teasing and mischief.

Opening a safe shouldn't look so much like staring down the gallows but here we are. Not being able to see how Tongrak's hands were shaking in a screenshot is a blessing.

The panic and terror on this man's face when he saw the read receipt on his phone is something I never want to see again. My hatred for Rak's piece of shit sperm donor is murderous and profound. How actually fucking dare he put this look on his child's face I'm going to kill him with my bare hands.

Peat's acting is so genuinely good that it hurts me. Tongrak was trembling so much that he was struggling to put the phone away and when he gets back to his room, he practically tries to crawl into Mahasamut's skin to hide and feel safe. Look at him, he looks so tiny and scared and I want to cry.

Let us take a break from the sad with this supremely horny shot of Mook unzipping Vivi's dress. Everyone say thank you.

My favorite moment of the face journey Tongrak goes on when he realizes just how good Mahasamut looks and that he will be Perceived and decides to mess up his hair about it. The grumpy kitten is a jealous jellyfish.

It's the fact that Tongrak looks surprised that his fans like his books and have consumed his entire body of work. I'M GOING TO SOB.

The smile is polite and professional but the eyes are sparkly. He genuinely enjoys interacting with his fans.

The proud husband smile means everything to me.

IF YA'LL THINK I'M NOT GONNA MAKE A SEPARATE POST ABOUT HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS MAN YOU'RE SO FUCKING WRONG

If I have to have this demonic nasty hell witch on my screen, at least I get to watch her face make this expression after Tongrak calls her out for imitating him because he got it right on the money and she knows it.

Tongrak and the visceral hatred in his eyes said play me another waltz I'm tired of dancing to this one.

God love you, but you look so tired.

This entire scene was more brutal to watch than the fight outside of Tongrak's house. It was obvious that something more was going on from how calmly he was speaking and how non-responsive he became toward the end of it, but look at his hands. Look at how tightly they're clenched. Maintaining his composure while Prin stuck that knife in his wounds and twisted it as viciously as she could cost him, and it would be obvious even if we hadn't already seen them fight.

Tongrak, you're my fighter. He still looks tired because he is, but he also looks like the imperious ice prince he's had to be to survive. Then the utterly dismissive way he turns and walks out and cuts eye contact?

We can barely see Nouel's smile but it's so clearly saying "bruh that's cringe".

He's not just my fighter. He's Mahasamut's fighter, too.

Do ya'll remember how Tongrak was acting when he first brought Mahasamut to live with him and Vivi was teasing him?

Look how far they've come.

I can't quite articulate how, but the way they look at each other has changed, and I don't just mean because they're being lovey in front of Vivi and Mook. There's this undercurrent of sweetness that wasn't there before, even in private. That scene way back in episode 3 where Tongrak told Mahasamut to ask him to stay on the island which had so much softness and fondness to it did not have that same something that's now present.

I'm gonna leave ya'll with that and then go take more screenshots so I can properly scream about Mahasamut. And let me know if you wanna be tagged in these weekly writeups!

But I'm here with a yap! It's not the ideal yap I was stalling for but alas, at least I'm no longer leaving you in the rain. I am sadly not going to spill all my beans (<- cat who wants to try making comics) but here are most of em:

When Charming and Director first met, only Director was to their knowledge an animus. At that time Charming didn't know that those even existed. Director by that didn't know either. To him he was chatting with a rather quiet Rainwing

Mizukis spell? Nah sorry I want to still keep that Zonde exclusive knowledge <:3c If I fsr can't manage working out a way of telling the story, I'll mention it in a dump, but atm? lemme try

For Mafuyu I am more open☝️ So base idea: common Seawing animus boytoy, the common your only use is to serve the kingdom. That's also her first spell:

"May these bracelets make me an obedient subject. May they never leave my talons and let them never be destroyed"

It's a failsafe in the likely case she loses her soul and goes... like the others.

The thing is, the spells are instructed by her mother Kelp. Why, is because it's easier to trust her with the task, than search for a random council member who could do it. Mafumom is already a council member and the wife of the prince yk?

Anyways that would be fine and all, if Kelp didn't have ulterior motives... Her previous plan was to marry into the royal family and let her daughter then challenge the queen. But since said daughter turned out to be a animus, the plan changed into Kelp using Jellyfish to take over the throne herself. She hasn't yet, but is on the way.

How the gang finds out about the second animus in their mids? Well as my last dump said, niigo were in a situation where they had to run asap. Jellyfish can't cast spells that work against the Seakingdom will, therefore only Charming can do something to help. She creates a tunnel akin to Directors rainforest tunnel, bringing niigo to safety, but at the cost of her secret. When they were all safe and the situation dawned on her she quite literally disappeares. And niigos reaction? Very mixed. Jellyfish has still all the Seakingdom shit to process, Siren is immediately trying to think of a way to help Charming or at least reach her and Kite is going through about twenty stages of grief. That's around where I would say second arc niigo would start, where they have to find Charming and rely on Sekais help ( the niigoloids that are apart of it) ...yeah

Siren lives on the island alone since she doesn't have anywhere else to go. Her parents raised her on it, since it was a rather safe and secluded place. Something dragons, who escaped the vulcano and are trying to hide from any potential Nightwings that might force them to return, would want. But with her mother dead and father gone she just stayed really. Siren doesn't know any other place well enough to properly survive and solitude has the benefit of not having multiple visions about other dragons' death. She comes by, but wasn't close to thriving before niigo came.

Compared to Peril, Kite does just have the ability to leave. She previously stayed, because the arena gave her purpose and there didn't seem to be an option to do something else. Life outside of the arena only provided the role of a firedemon loved by none. It fits to Enas character and the conflict between her need for self fulfillment through her art and her need to be seen and appreciated. At that point she'd rather be Inferno, Champion of the Skywings, than a free monster.

Additionally, Chimera- OH FUCK Ok I found a continuity error in me old infodump on Chimera (explodes multiple times) erm...

I did tell Chimera took over the Kingdom when the war began, but before Kite and Smoke were born.... No... it didn't woops

The war happened when the Blorbos were kids, so that wouldn't make sense. So either Chimera did take over flailing a firescale dragonet around, or she promised an alliance in exchange for power before the war happened.... Both stretches, but I gravitate towards the latter (sloppily tapes bandaid over the blunder)

erhem...Additionally (it is presumed that) Chimera took over the kingdom, withouth a firescale as a weapon, so there wasn't as much pressure to keep her with the same tactics as Scarlet did Peril. Techincally Kite could challenge Chimera, but since Chimera isn't an actual royal and already stretches the kingdoms tolerance for unconventional rulers, a nonroyal firescale queen wouldn't be recognized. The Skywings in the au operate with a panem et circenses mindset. Control depends on the comfort of the masses.

Kite knows her brother is Smoke. Him ending up in the arena was the motivator for her to leave.

Mafuyu picks up Tsukasa from his house by her car and they drive to her home. On the way, Mafuyu wanted to have small talk with Tsukasa. However, he WAS going through a rough time. And since he was sitting in the back seat, Mafuyu thought that this would be a great moment for him to finally cope a bit in silence. It always helped her calm down when she was feeling bad, she believed it would be the same for Tsukasa. When they arrived, Mafuyu got out and opened the door for Tsukasa, holding her hand out for him. It was the same as a prince helping a princess get down.

Oh..! Uhm...thank you...

Tsukasa awkwardly took her hand and got out. Mafuyu unlocks the front door and they both enter the house. Tsukasa was almost immediately greeted by Mafuyu's mother.

"Ah, Tenma-san! Right, Mafuyu did talk about you coming over. Please, make yourself comfortable. If you'd like, I can make tea for the both of you!"

It's nice to meet you too Ms. Asahina...

Thanks mom! Tea would be nice, it helps with bad emotions!

"Right. I'll make it, you two go have fun!"

Uhm...I like dogs...but cats are pretty cute too. And birds are so interesting. Though if we're talking about any animal it has to be any sea animal! Their living style is so interesting and it's so much fun to look up and research about them!

Mafuyu listens intently to Tsukasa's words. Tsukasa is talking about things he enjoys other than dealing with Ena's death. This was a good step. Mafuyu couldn't mess it up now.

Which sea animal do you like researching the most?

For underwater, it's either sharks or jellyfish! For above it's otters and platypuses! Did you know jellyfishes don't have a heart, brain or anything else but can still live? Oh! Oh oh!! And then there's these tardigrads and oh god they are fascinating!! Their other name is "Sea bears"! They can live in extreme weather! Without oxygen! And it's so interesting!!!

How did this conversation go from bunnies to sea bears that can live without oxygen?

Mafuyu's mom knocks and opens the door.

"Hey kids...I made you two tea."

Thanks mom! I'll take that from you.

Mafuyu takes the tea set from her mother. After that, her mother leaves. Mafuyu touches one of the cups before taking the other one. Tsukasa raises the other cup and takes a sip. He immediately drops the cup on himself because he burned his tongue, and ends up burning himself again. Idiot.

GAH-!! Hng-!

Oh god. I'll get some napkins.

Mafuyu leaves to get napkins. While she does. She glances at her mother, which she notices.

"Is something wrong dear?"

You made the tea hotter for one of the cups. I'm not stupid.

"Oh but why would I ever do that? You're simply overreacting."

Hey. Remember why dad divorced with you? It's because you're a piece of shit that makes sure when you're in a bad situation, you make someone's already bad situation to hell. Learn to suck it up you bitch ass cunt.

With that, Mafuyu goes back to her room and gives Tsukasa some napkins.

Mafuyu hugged Tsukasa tightly. Tsukasa gripped on her very tight. She wants to...make sure he's coping in a safe way? That's too much. You could never hear that from anyone. Not even your parents. And Mafuyu just said it like that. Even with Saki, he wanted to stay strong. He didn't want her too see him as vulnerable as a lost kitten. But it felt like Mafuyu broke a limit. Like...she knew his life and knew the right things to do. He was so greatful to have her. He cried like never before. Mafuyu sensed different types as he cried. A lost kid's cry. A cry of a middle schooler who failed a test. A cry of a collage students who couldn't get accepted. The cry of a girl who broke up with her lover. The cry of a boy who broke up his lover. The cry of a mom who lost her baby. The cry of a man who lost her wife. The cry of a dog who witnessed it's puppies getting taken away. The cry of a cat who saw it's kittens die before it. All the cries in the world...yet his cries hurt Mafuyu deep. She didn't want to let go. So she didn't.

Okay im (lowkey) back from my social media vacation. Unclear how much I will post here yet, because I've become fairly disenchanted with various book-fandoms and their dramas recently lol, but I will at least try and keep this blog updated with what I'm currently reading.

Anyway, in the past 3 weeks I read:

Homesick for Another World by Ottessa Moshfegh, which is very weird and off-putting, with most of the main characters being, at best, assholes. I do think it's a good read, though. The theme of most of the stories seems to be "MC loses their perfect life because they can't get out of their own destructive cycles" or "MC loses what they think will give them the perfect life but instead gains the knowledge of what is really important, unfortunately it is too late."

Reread the Unicorn series by Vicki Blum as a palate cleanser after that book + The Stranger Beside Me. Those are childhood favourites and are always a nice "reset."

Also finished Princess Jellyfish, which is a wonderful and adorable series. There's a pretty funny twist around vol 6, and I felt like vol 9 wrapped things up a little too fast, but overall it's a great read.

Then my hold for Please Kill Me: The Unauthorized Oral History of Punk finally came up. An extremely interesting, weird, delightful, off-putting, horrifying, and sad read lol. All the emotions! Highly recommend even if you're not into punk music since it's a good look at history and the culture of 60s-80s New York as well. I recommend pairing it with the No Dogs in Space podcast's series about punk.

Now I'm reading The Mermaid's Secret by Vicki Blum, and next I'll read The Dragon Prince to cap off my rereads of her books. After that I'm hoping to start an LoTR reread.

So that's...16 books in 3 weeks without tumblr. If I want my teenage reading speed back I guess I should just quit social media 😅
