I thank you for this extraordinary art, my dearest friend 💕🥰
I love every detail here: their happy faces, shining eyes, hands intertwined, beautiful wedding rings with their favorite emeralds, Lestat's hand on Louis' chest (of course!), and mostly, pure comfort with being with each other. Beautiful husbands for eternity ❤️

@riley-beautrelle "I will never get over the fact that Louis casually read to Lestat... I imagine them on the couch in the château, with Lestat’s head on Louis’s lap, and Louis delicately brushing Lestat hand while reading... Any art like that exists???"
It does now ^_^ Thank you for inspiring me.

Thinking about the time a priest came over and told Louis to quit rotting in bed and he beat his ass even though he was on the brink of death.
Like, Loumand! Loustat! Argue all you want - but the real romance of the series is Louis x Bed Rot. My man said no one better come between me and my melancholy taking to the bed.

Okay, okay, so I started several canon lore opinion polls The other day (still got a few days left; also Tumblr knows allowing me multiple polls on one post would be too OP), and one of things I asked people about is what they would prefer Lestat and Louis to be addressed as. So far, the canon “Prince and Prince Consort” seems to be the leading opinion amongst the ten or so people who’ve answered, but I was thinking… Lestat was chosen as prince before taking The Sacred Core, but after… I feel like he earned the right to be called the vampire king (since Mekare was queen), thus making Louis his queen (or still prince consort) perhaps. I know it’s silly, and maybe in universe, someone probably suggested the elevated title to Lestat and he said no because prince is formal enough. Yes, I’m here to speculate how they’ll go about it in the show. Vampire King Lestat is cool and all, but unfortunately some people will find it offensive to have a white vampire king (I’m mixed race and I don’t care as long as Lestat does a good job geez everybody chill) but like… I don’t know! Let the husbands be King and King Consort to shake it up? Besides, maybe we can finally see Lestat and Louis as equals finally, as intended. I mean… Louis at this point is almost as powerful as Lestat. Can you imagine, the end of the journey, together as equals in not only the quiet dark, but in the face of many? And Lestat can finally tell people that Louis is his husband? I’m sorry for the mini rambling rant. I think I need to get more sleep…
Hmmmmmm :))) (Hope you got sleep now?^^)
Ok, so... hmm.
Within the context of the tale/universe Mekare (or Amel) chose Lestat as the successor, so he literally became the "king", true. For a while :))
Louis at that later point is almost as powerful as Lestat, and I bet they're also sharing blood regularly.
There is this term in the later books, "Blood Spouse", "Blood Wife" (and, by extension there must be a "Blood Husband"), and I can see them call each other that, easily.
Anne described their wedding on Facebook, too, so they are definitely on married status.
I'm pretty sure that Louis' status as "consort" and Blood Husband was more than clear at the end. He's the only one with any real power over Lestat after all *laughs*
I know what you mean here (re the titles), but... I'm unsure if the show will go here tbh. IF they do I bet there'll be some ribbing in regards to Lestat becoming the King after the events of Prince Lestat (I'd love that, preferably by Armand *coughs*), but... given his canon reluctance to even accept "prince" I bet he'd not want to be called that.
Sooooo in regards to Louis.... I think I would also (boringly I know) go with the "Prince and Prince Consort" thing... sorry^^^. And I think the show will likely stay within that canon context as well, IF they even go there. (Not meaning the book content itself here, we KNOW they already go there after all).
But I really want Lestat to introduce Louis to the older ones, like Gregory (for example), as his "Blood Husband".
Proudly.
I'd LOVE that.

god I hope this show goes on long enough for us to see Louis de Point du Lac, royal consort to Prince Lestat de Lioncourt. I feel like he's gonna run that chateau like the Navy while Lestat is doing his eyeliner and taking experimental fertility drugs

LOUSTAT'S FIRST FLIGHT
A special birthday commission for one of my loveliest moots <3 Happy birthday!!!
Tumblr media
It'd rained before. They started flying out from Nola. Lestat was in double-denim (80s!) Louis was in 19thc frockcoat, which doesn't work with show Louis. So we decided to update their looks and to include St Louis cathedral and their special bench😍🥰😘 FUN!
I also added priceless antique emerald wedding rings as Anne Rice herself had depicted in her description of Loustat's wedding.

↬ Warwick Wives (1/7) | royal wives during the reigns of Louis I & Louis II, 1782 - 1817
W I L H E L M I N A was fifty-six at the time of her husband's enthronement, making her one of Sunderland's oldest queen consorts. Despite this, she was famed for her beauty and sharp wit. She had protruding, restless eyes, with a pleasant demeanour. Her representation was a source of stability during the monarchy's early days.
C H A R L O T T E was less shrewd than her mother-in-law. Undereducated and neglected, she came from an obscure German duchy on the brink of extinction. Charlotte’s desire for an informal and relaxed domestic life greatly influenced the upbringing of royal children throughout the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. She remains the most prolific of Sunderland's queens, giving birth to fifteen children—seven boys and eight girls—over twenty-one years.
A M E L I A is the earliest example of a Sunderlandian consort causing a media sensation. Emily, as she was affectionately called, was beloved by the country and her husband, Louis, then Duke of Woodbine. Her marriage stemmed from Sunderland's new alliance with the United Kingdom. This alliance ultimately outlasted the marriage, for Emily would die at age twenty-seven. Her death complicated Sunderland's succession; she and Louis had one son, five-year-old Prince Frederick, who was also of weak health.
M A R I A - C A R O L I N A was the antithesis of Emily—even their hair colours highlighted this. Where Emily was pleasant and free-spirited, Maria Carolina was moody and introverted; Emily was the daughter of a King, a product of the world's largest imperial empire, Maria Carolina was the daughter of a low-ranking prince from Sweden's waining Holstein-Gottorp dynasty. Where Emily was adored by her husband, Maria Carolina hated. The two cousins had never wanted to marry and Louis, still grieving his first wife, waited two years before consummating the union. Over time, Louis grew hostile toward his wife. Running hot and cold, he alternated between ignoring Maria Carolina and tormenting her mercilessly, sometimes driving her to tears.
"If I were to suffer such maltreatment would have hung myself from the balcony at Chester long ago" - Princess Wilhemina, writing on her sister-in-law's troubles
To escape her husband's bullying, Maria Carolina undertook a wide variety of public duties. Today, several institutions and charities bear the name Queen Mary Caroline. Despite her husband's apathy and her own shyness, Maria Carolina formed a loyal circle of close friends at court. It was only after Maria Carolina died in 1841, that Louis III expressed remorse for her mistreatment. He outlived her for another ten years.
King Louis III and Queen Mary Caroline had no surviving children together. When Louis's only son, Hereditary Prince Frederick, died without issue Sunderland was left without a clear successor, promoting the 1835 Succession Crisis. This crisis would last for twenty-five years and put an immense amount of pressure on the next generation of royal wives.

Ophelia of Lausanne, Queen of Windenburg (1620-1673) - Part 1
Hey guys! So over the last three months I've been working on the life story of Ophelia of Lausanne, one of the Queen Consorts of Windenburg during the 1600s and I've made a LOT of renders of her so I just thought I should share about her life :)
read about her BELOW
Princess Ophelia Thérèse Marie Hélène Françoise of Lausanne was born on August 27th, 1620, to Louis Henri II, Prince of Lausanne, and Princess Marie Thérèse of Magnolia. Ophelia’s paternal grandparents were Charles Joseph, Prince of Lausanne, and Princess Isabella of Calabria. Her maternal grandparents were King Louis IX of Magnolia and Princess Elizabeth of Windenburg.
Ophelia was born at Chateau de Angouleme, King Louis IX’s favorite country residence. At the time of Ophelia’s birth, her father had been overthrown as Prince of Lausanne and sought sanctuary at his father-in-law’s court. Ophelia’s mother, Princess Marie Thérèse, was King Louis' favorite daughter. The King was delighted with the birth of his granddaughter and organized several court entertainments in honor of her birth. Ophelia and her family initially lived with the King and traveled with the court between the King’s numerous residences. The Royal Governess, Marie Charlotte de Rohan, cared for Ophelia and her cousins during her infancy.
Throughout the 1600s, religious conflicts had plagued the continent which resulted in Lausanne being occupied by Peteran Forces. In 1623 after the conclusion of the War of Religion, the Treaty of Emden restored Ophelia's father to his throne. Ophelia and her family returned to Lausanne later that year and resided at the Chateau Moren. Ophelia was joined by two younger siblings who survived to adulthood, Prince Henri, and Prince Maurice. Despite residing in Lausanne, Ophelia, and her family often visited her grandfather, the King of Magnolia. Princess Marie Thérèse appointed her close friend and childhood companion, the Marquise de Villars, as governess of her children. Ophelia had a simple education, very typical of princesses of the time. Ophelia learned multiple languages, was a skilled musician and dancer, and learned horseback riding. She had a strict Jacoban education, overseen by the Bishop of Lausanne. Ophelia had a close relationship with her brothers who she would correspond with for the rest of her life. Many letters survive between her and her grandfather, detailing their close relationship with one another. On her 13th birthday, her grandfather, the King of Magnolia, gifted her ten stallions and a golden state carriage which currently is in the Windenburg Royal Collection and is used during official events.
Ophelia was considered beautiful and intelligent. She was a skilled musician and singer, enjoyed reading, and spoke seven languages. She was an accomplished woman for her time period and was extremely athletic. As a granddaughter of the King of Magnolia, she was considered a desirable bride by the Jacoban monarchs of the continent.
