when i say certain actors do not have a good grasp of the character they play never EVER am i talking about emilia clarke. she is the *only* one my loyalty never wavers in. emilia fought tooth and nail to bring canon!dany to the big screens but dumb and dumber decided that they knew best and omitted some of her most empathetic and resounding character moments, not to mention the giving of certain lines/ways of thinking to the men (namely jorah. never forget.) around her.
anyways stan emilia clarke for cold pillows to sleep on at night and clear skin to wake up to in the morning 🫶🏻

I hate those Daenerys is going to sacrifice herself/die theories so much it genuinely makes me tweak and I have never been the type of person to get upset at all over fiction or any type of media, but this irks me so bad because not only is Daenerys my absolute favorite character of all time, it’s upsetting how the female character is always the one who has to die for others sakes and never achieve anything for herself. Yes, it’s her destiny as AA to fight the Others, but that doesn’t mean that she has to die doing it. Like, seriously, after we got F&B and saw how many Targaryen women struggled with misogyny and being passed over for the throne, it feels upsetting to me if the one who is supposed to break the wheel will never have a chance to do so. I do love Bran but I do not see him fit to sit on the throne, not to mention how young he is and will be at the series end unless George does a massive timeskip, and after the whole world is in shambles after the Long Night, who is more fitting to sit on the throne and help mend things and lead the people forward? A well experienced ruler and fighter who will bring along a new age of change, or a child with no such experience? Perhaps it’s just me being salty but I just really want the best for my favorite character who I believe deserves to have her shot at having a home and being able to rule and change the world together with the other characters. Especially after the end of GoT, which no I don’t ever believe that George will go that route, but with how everything happened in the show, it looked like Westeros was a completely and utter mess and there was nobody capable left to pick up the pieces, Bran’s ascension to the throne was so random too and didn’t even feel satisfying or like a good conclusion (not that those two incapable idiots could ever produce a satisfying ending, but yeah). What are your thoughts on this? I just feel sad that fellow Dany fans are literally enthusiastically waiting for her death in the upcoming books as if there isn’t a better destiny for her :( The female character who managed to rise to power and become a ruler in her own right dying or giving that up to the men in order to “settle down” leaves such a bad taste in my mouth and doesn’t look like the subversion George has done with her character at all.
I definitely agree with you anon, Dany dying/sacrificing herself really doesn't seem to fit with her story. Yes, Dany certainly would be willing to die to save the world, but that doesn't seem to be where GRRM is writing her.
Dany's story is saturated with life; which is pretty ironic since she's been called "Daughter of Death". She's closely tied to themes of fertility (mother of dragons, helloo), rebirth (Azor Ahai, entering the pyre), and survival/endurance.
Dany's story shares very little similarities to characters who have been set up for death. For example, Robb. Dany may share some superficial similarities to Robb, but the signs of Robb's impending death are not shared at all. GRRM always sets up the deaths of his major characters from their introductions. That hasn't happened with Dany; if anything we see a set up to her surviving.
You're so right about how people are foaming at the mouth for Dany's death. Her dying after everything she's been through and everything she stands for is just...no. It feels so gross and has some really concerning undertones.
The woman who actually fought for change and made a massive upheaval in the status quo, who genuinely cares for all her people, who understands the responsibility of ruling, who demonstrates incredible wisdom, who only wants to make the world better dying for the sake of the story is just wow.

Tin's Favorite Sterek Fics (Part 19)
Hello, and welcome to part fucking 19 of Tin's Favorite Sterek Fics. Good lord, how the hell have I gotten to 19 of these?? I cannot believe!!!
As always, thank you all so much for all of the love you continue to show this little series of mine. I never really expected any of these posts to get more than a passing notice from anyone, so to see that so many of you have liked and shared this series is honestly kind of mind boggling but also pretty cool. Because I just want everyone to read these stories, ya know? Like, I really love all of these fics that I'm recommending. I wasn't lying or exaggerating when I said that I re-read these fics all the time. I love these stories, and I want others to love them too.
I won't go on some of the crazy tangents that I do IRL, but I fucking love fan fiction. I truly believe that a good chunk of the world's more trivial issues could be solved by people simply getting into the right kind of fanfic for them. Because there's really something out there for everyone so long as you're willing to look for it, and I just think that is the coolest thing, you guys. It's just the bees knees. So to be able to share these lists of my favorite Sterek fics has been such a fun and fulfilling endeavor, and I am glad to have been able to share it with you all.
Okay, enough sap from me! I have admittedly imbibed a bit before writing this up, so I am a little bit in my head right now as well as in my feelings.
I hope you're all having as good a day as you can, if not a great one.
Smoochies and squeezies!
List and links to previous/next part(s) below the cut.

DISCLAIMER: This is me warning you all that some of the fics I've included in this list may cover explicit, dark, and/or "taboo" subject matters. I cannot express enough how little I care what anyone thinks about any of that; all I want is for you to use caution when reading anything I've listed here and to please review and heed whatever tags the authors have provided in order to keep yourselves safe. Your experience from this point on is your own responsibility, not mine and not the authors'.

Family Day by klutzy_girl (T | 1/1 | 2,447)
Derek and Stiles spend the day with Stiles' (and Scott's) younger sister and come to a few realizations.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You aren't broken by GreyHaven (G | 1/1 | 4,339)
Derek doesn’t understand sex. Well, no, that makes him sound innocent and sheltered and he isn’t either of those things.
But he doesn’t understand the appeal of sex.
The one in which Derek thinks he's broken and tries to break up with Stiles. Stiles doesn't let him and insists on an open conversation which leads to Derek realising he's not broken, he's asexual. But can Stiles accept that?
(Spoiler alert: of course he can.)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
and the wild things roared their terrible roar by hoars (E | 1/1 | 4,905)
Derek as Khal Drogo (but set in snow beyond the wall) and Stiles as Daenerys Stormborn (although he's a greenseer of the Children rather than a dragon).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Show Me Your Igloo and I'll Show You Mine by DiscontentedWinter (E | 1/1 | 4,943)
Stiles is finally going to meet the online friend he's had for years.
Instead, the hottest guy in the world walks in.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
that boy is a monster series by hoars (3 works | NR-M | 6,840)
1. monsters steal me away (M | 1/1 | 1,720) There’s a monster in the forest that has taught Stiles to lie and to love. 2. no secret stays secret (NR | 1/1 | 2,558) John follows Stiles into the woods one night. 3. my ghosts approve (NR | 1/1 | 2,562) (optional) Derek loves all his past loves because they all taught him how to love Stiles best.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Run Wild and Free by greenleaf (T | 1/1 | 6,991)
Derek is a police officer, just recently moved to Beacon Hills, and possibly nursing a crush on the really hot, really powerful doctor with the twin sons.
(Or a story that was almost titled, 'I'm Quite Fawn'd of You, My Deer' but I stopped myself and I don't know why.)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do It For The Vine by crossroadswrite (G | 1/1 | 7,108)
“Tammy,” he calls her to attention and his baby daughter turns her sweet hazel eyes to him. “Do you want to go to the skate park tomorrow?”
Autumn gasps and twists until her bony knees are digging into his thighs.
“Daddy,” she says very seriously, placing both hands on his cheeks and looking him in the eye. “Don’t play with my emotions, daddy.” . (OR: in which Derek's daughter gets a skateboard and a cute guy teaching her tricks and Derek just gets the cute guy.)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Jackass in the Camaro by isthatbloodonhisshirt (wasterella) (G | 1/1 | 7,237)
To the guy I splashed with water on First and Crown on Thursday, February 27th around seven at night: I am an a**hole. I’m sorry. I was being an impatient driver, and I just wanted to get home, and I cut off the bus to get there faster. I didn’t mean to soak you with rainwater, and I am truly sorry for doing so. That was a total d*ck move of me. With regrets, The Jackass in the Camaro.
Stiles had to re-read the notice four times before he honestly believed he was seeing it with his own two eyes. He’d gotten splashed by rainwater on First and Crown on Thursday around seven while waiting at a bus stop because of an impatient Camaro driver cutting off a bus.
Like, that was actually a thing that had happened. This was a real thing.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Plan for Healthy Eating in the Stilinski-Hale Household by inhystereks (G | 1/1 | 8,100)
Melanie burst into tears, screaming about how she didn’t want their daddy to die while Greg tried to comfort her, sending his own anxious glances Stiles’ way. Elena grilled Addie and Clary about whether they knew for sure. The twins started listing examples from their textbook. Ian turned to Derek asking if food could really hurt humans while Kevin turned to Stiles and begged him not to kill himself by eating too many curly fries.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
children of the bad revolution by hoars (NR | 1/1 | 9,506)
Far away and long ago, the only companion Derek has, the only friend and enemy he's known since he was young, is the chain.
Then Stiles happens.
Then the crows.
Then the end of the world.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
to build a home by elisela (T | 1/1 | 13,021)
“You realize you’re at least ten grand over budget on Stiles’ house, don’t you,” Allison says, and he’s not entirely sure if it’s a question or not. “You better hope this works out because we can’t afford to build an entire house for everyone you want to date.”
He doesn’t bother denying it. “I’m going to do a lot of the demo and installation myself,” he says, leaning over her to cross off some of the numbers she’d written down. “It’ll work out.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A Crooked Way to Fly by andavs (G | 1/1 | 14,980)
“We can’t just leave him here to die.”
“He’s an emissary, Scott.” Derek tried to make his tone empathetic, but Scott’s tendency to fight back on everything always grated on his nerves. “His pack is gone, he won’t survive more than a day or two either way.”
“Then we should stay with him.”
Derek sighed as he studied the man for a moment; he was too pale against the fur rim of his hood, almost grey from lying out in the snow, and his cloak was stained with dark dried blood around a protruding arrow shaft. It was unlikely he would even last the night. They would probably be able to carry on in the morning with little time lost, if any.
It wasn’t a horrible idea, Derek decided reluctantly. They hadn’t been able to set up a real camp for a few weeks in the open foothills, and they were all on edge from sleeping in exposed areas. A defensible place to sleep would be good for them, even if they were surrounded by death. They would be able to give the pack proper burials, at the very least.
“Fine. One night,” Derek relented, already moving away to check on Isaac. “He’s your responsibility.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This Kind of Luxe by sugarybowl, weathervaanes, wishingonalightningbolt (E | 1/1 | 15,113)
As they have for almost every US President since the 1910s, the Prime Minister and the royal head of their country pay a visit to the United States after inauguration. Which is why, when President Jonathan Stilinski is elected into office, Queen Talia Hale of Norland plans their trip.
-0-
Prince Derek and First Son Stiles. Gooey, ridiculous romance ensues.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good for you by lilysaid (E | 1/1 | 16,768)
Completely by chance, I saw a "human boyfriend for werewolf roleplay" ASMR video on YouTube and thought 1. Stiles would totally do something as reckless as making an ASMR channel for werewolves 2. He would be really good at it and 3. It would definitely blow up in his face.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No Other Love by Idday (T | 1/1 | 18,745)
And maybe it’s irony, or the universe at work, or maybe it’s just Derek Hale’s shitty luck, but that’s when, at that exact moment (as Stiles will swear later), there’s a knock on the door. “Laura?” Derek breathes in disbelief, and Stiles feels his own face fall into confused slackness. Because the girl standing in the doorway? The last time Stiles had seen her—or, well, half of her—she’d been very naked, and very, very dead. “Hey, baby bro,” she says with a grin. ... OR: The one where Laura comes back from the dead, and it turns out to be bad for Stiles, because he’s suddenly spending a lot of quality time with one of the coolest people he’s ever met, and her brother. The guy that he might be just a little in love with. He's not okay.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nothing Short Of Perfect by GotTheSilver (E | 1/1 | 27,019)
In which Derek and Stiles are made aware of their potential and have to make a choice about what their relationship will be.
“Let me get this straight,” his dad says. “You’re telling me a witch told Derek and yourself that you could be destined to be together and now Derek will be going to college with you?”
Stiles shrugs, resting his hands on his legs to stop himself from fidgeting. “That’s about it, yep.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Weight of an Enchanted Heart by PalenDrome (nerdherderette), 1jet2unknown (E | 1/1 | 31,590)
Marriage to the shape-shifting Alpha King of Lunansholt wasn't on Stiles' bingo card. His magic had other plans.
[excerpt]: Stiles entered Derek’s chambers, slamming the door behind him. “What did you do with my things?”
“These things?” Derek asked, waving his hand with an arched brow.
Stiles gaped when he saw his books lined neatly on Derek’s shelves. His trunk was in the corner, many of his clothes were visible in the partly open wardrobe, and the cloak he’d brought from home hung neatly on a hook.
“It would have been nice if you asked first.” A quick sweep around the room found only one bed. “Where am I supposed to sleep?” he asked, frowning.
“We are married now, Stiles,” Derek said after a moment. “We sleep together.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No Mercy by Gia279 (M | 24/24 | 24,743)
The story of the Boy King was this: when he was sixteen, the Stilinski kingdom was at war with the Novak kingdom. King John was on the front lines with his soldiers when his teenage heir came to check in with him. The king was struck down in a nighttime attack, in front of the boy. The boy took up the king’s dropped sword, mounted his war steed, and slaughtered the enemy forces.
When the remaining soldiers surrendered, he cut them down with his father’s sword and returned home a boy king with a bloodstained reputation.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Salty Sweet by secondstar (E | 11/11 | 46,478)
Derek works at a porn store. One day, Stiles comes in asking all sorts of TMI questions about different toys. That's where it all starts.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Call Me (Cliché) by orphan_account (M | 18/18 | 84,649)
When the sheriff's sister ends up in a wheelchair for the duration of summer, Stiles' dreams of three months full of pack bonding, late-night video games and bro-time with Scott come crashing down. He's temporarily relocated to Redford, a three hour drive away, and he can already tell he won't be getting many visitors.
Sure the pack will forget about him while he's gone, Stiles is determined to make the most of his summer of isolation, training his body and mind - and his magic - so he can come back with a bang, and maybe catch a certain Sourwolf's eye.
Then Derek shows up at his window one night with a flimsy excuse about needing research done. Suddenly, his summer away is looking a whole lot more interesting.

“Softening the main Targ because people “love” them” is just history revisionism unless anon somehow means Jon. Dany is wayyy more aggressive and cold in the show. Her ending was planned early, so this makes sense for the show to do this bc book Dany can’t even kill hostages much less nuke a surrendered city. It almost feels like Ryan is adapting book Dany which is bizarre bc she and book Rhaenyra are about as different as you can get!
Yes, I think D&D took Jon nuances and made him a generic prototype hero. In the book he is so much more strategic than the short temper guy he is in the show, I hate the battle of the bastards and that whole arc because nothing show!Jon does after his death fits in his book version, their fanfic was always there, It Just got progressively worse when they didn't have material to adapt. I pretty sure when Jon comes back from the dead he is not going to look the same. Death always takes away something from people in asoiaf.
And in part agree to the whole Dany thing, they made her since s1, more cruel and military focused than she was in the books and taking away her connection with magic took essential part of her character and her arc. In that sense, yes, they adapted part of Dany's arc into Rhaenyra, but It does not fully works. Because both characters are supposedly care about "prophecy" and the weight of the family legacy, but Rhaenyra behavior through the first season does not reflect this. Furthermore, the arc that Rhaenyra is supposed to be copying in this season is Dany's in the book A Dance with Dragons.
Whatever the claims are completely different, because Dany is fighting against oppression and slavery and Rhaenyra is fighting for her to be queen. Thematically, ironically, Alicent is the one who borrows the most from Dany in the show. Her young version arc is a westerosi version of what Dany goes though in book one, her marriages are very much alike as well. Even the Idea of she, narratively, to be more than the mother of the one who should be "the king/The stallion who mounts the world" is present in the show.
But It does not fully works and is bizarre and disconnected because those characters are never originally thought out to be the same and neither Ryan or Sarah, despite understanding certain themes they are unable to recreate because they are not as talented as writers as Martin is. Rhaenyra is a character to be a Cersei's reflection and hint at Cersei future conflic and endgame.Alicent is her own character but being a mother still essential part of who she is and her motivation, taking that and make her sacrifice her only child is insane character murder because It took the motivation she was build up into It, It takes her character foundation. I have no idea what her story moving up because lmao what even is the story after that "queen in chains"? Just after they ended her finally reaching her "freedom".
Daenerys presence on a Dance of the Dragons, It should only happens as a hidden subject, though the prophecy. Same as Jon with the Gregan And Jace pack, that they cut out for no good reason what só ever.
And the Aegon's prophecy I truly I believe it is something real, It already play a part on Dany dreams and because Martin himself said will play a part on future events so is confimed as true and canon.
GRRM: In some sense he[Aegon the Conqueror] saw what was coming 300 years later, and wanted to unify the Seven Kingdoms to be better prepared for the threat that he eventually saw coming in the north."Daenerys Targaryen is no maid, however. She is the widow of a Dothraki khal, a mother of dragons and sacker of cities, Aegon the Conqueror with teats." ADWD
Whatever I am not as sure in the book canon Viserys even know the prophecy. I think It died with Jaehaerys, and I have a strong theory of why he didn't pass that information, but, this post is to long already. I believe neither Aegon nor Rhaenyra knew about it.
The Daemon part is acually the one I believe, I stugled a lot about how this arc ended, but after analyzing and digesting, I think it makes a lot of sense for him to suport Rhaenyra after he come to sort religious experience, because is not for her, It is because he new view on the events, and that makes sense.
Either way, Sorry for my Ted talk anon, AMD thanks for sending a ask.

the hounds of harrenhal is a slow-burn brienne x sansa romance within a whimsical adventure with a good mix of found family + re-found blood family fluff. don’t get it twisted, this is still pretty plot heavy. since this is a rather expansive work, there are plenty of other eventual pairings such as gendry/arya and jon/satin (i hc jon snow as the most clueless bisexual to ever live and i love him) in addition to some surprises for later.
can you spot the jenny of oldstones and prince duncan of dragonflies reference(s) in the collage? in addition to rhyming with past asoiaf-verse love stories (dunk x rohanne, jenny x duncan, elissa farman x queen rhaena, lyanna x rhaegar), THOH draws on the persephone/hades abduction myth to subvert both the hound's offer to escape with sansa during the blackwater and littlefinger's "rescue" of sansa from king's landing.
for the purposes of the fic (curse you, abandoned five year gap), sansa's been aged up to robb's twin and two years have passed in-universe.
brienne becomes the newest wearer of the hound's helm after lem when jaime sacrifices himself to lady stoneheart following an escape plan gone very wrong. as the hound, brienne enters a tourney at the eyrie as a mystery knight to win some much needed coin to help the brotherhood without banners through winter. there, lady alayne arryn begs for help escaping a doomed marriage; brienne temporarily sets aside jaime's honor-saving mission for sansa to help her. petyr baelish announces that the hound has abducted sansa stark from the eyrie and advertises a large reward for her safe return. meanwhile, tyrion is trying to use his previous marriage to sansa to claim the vale for the mountain clans and daenerys. sansa hides out in the riverlands’ magical hollow hill with brienne and the brotherhood, falling in love as tensions within the realm build up to a second dance of the dragons amid a years-long winter. when love is the death of duty, what happens when your duty is to the one you love? this work will ultimately take place over the course of several years, weaving in new allies and foes for our star-crossed lovers as the realm moves from crisis to crisis. for generations to come, all of westeros will sing of harrenhal’s hounds and its witch queen. but life is not a song; in this story, it is far sweeter.
meta thoughts below the cut on why a future briensa is objectively one of the best ASOIAF ships in terms of thematic potential.
briensa has the best elements of the far more popular s*ns*n and br*ime ships except they're both teenagers and, crucially, brienne has never held sansa at knifepoint 🩵 no shade to either ship though bc the themes those relationships explore have sent brienne and sansa on journeys that have made them kind of perfect for each other; ie, the subversion of brienne being a protector to sansa rather than a threat is especially relevant if brienne is the next hound after lem!!! alexa play god bless the broken road
brienne is the hero sansa prayed for!!! sansa has learned to put more trust in disfigured people than "beautiful" people which means she can see brienne's beauty in a way she cannot!!! thematically it would be well supported yet subversive for sansa’s true knight and true love to be a jonquil darke type rather than a florian type 🥹 thematically i think the surest route to true love for sansa is a naerys + aemon situation so why not make it like alysanne and jonquil if they ✂️? it's not my fault grrm accidentally (?) wrote sansa as a closeted femme4butch!!!!

Writer's Interview Meme
I got a tag from @copperplatebeech, thanks much! This is the writer's interview meme.
How many works do you have on ao3?
148 works in a large variety of fandoms. I also have an enormous volume of work I never posted to AO3, mostly short pieces, which live in my old fic journal on Dreamwidth.
What’s your total word count?
319,626 words! So that's about 2k words per fic which feels accurate. Obviously I have longer and shorter pieces.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
My top fic is actually something I wrote in 2017 (it's totally great and cool to comment and kudos older stories!). It's a soulmate trope rewrite of Disney's Tangled called wide open to the sun and I still regularly get kudos on it. I think it was probably recced somewhere because the exchange I wrote it for was pretty small.
Then it's diamond heart, which is an Adventure Zone Magnus/Taako get-together fic, followed by this love left a permanent mark, a short Star Trek: TNG piece about Data asking Geordi to help with his android maintenance, which is soft fluff.
4 is build a bridge even where there is no river, which is a Game of Thrones fic from 2014 (some ancient show speculation) that's a Daenerys/Arya get-together fic. #5 is blinders, which is an ATLA Toph/Zuko post-series romcom.
Kind of funny that they're all different fandoms and pairing types, but I guess I'm most successful with my get-together fics -- that seems to be the theme.
Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
There was a point a few years ago where I stopped responding because I was stressed out but I eventually got back into the habit, and if someone comments on something old and I realize I never responded to someone else on that fic, I usually respond back, even to a very old comment. Why not? I always feel like it's nice to say thank you.
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
though love be a day, Steven Universe, Pearl/Rose. The story of Pearl and Rose's last date before Steven's birth. Pretty sure I made myself cry reading it.
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
I think mostly I write happy endings. It might just be recency bias but maybe the happiest one is the exponent of breath, Good Omens, A/C, in which there is a lot of fluff, a proposal, and a wedding. I had a lot of fun with that.
Do you write crossovers?
Recently I haven't, but I definitely have in the past and I wouldn't say no in the future if I had a good idea. I really like fusions where you put the characters from one fandom into another fandom's world.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I got some anon hate on a fic I wrote for an exchange; the story wasn't quite received like I'd expected and people thought I'd tripped a DNW, so. Fair. I ended up doing pre-reveals edits to address the issue (I know, this is bad form) and it remains in the Anonymous collection to this day lol. No further questions.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Very rarely -- I hardly ever have ideas for smut, although I do read it and enjoy it. It's almost always f/f (write what you know) and soft and romantic.
I am plotting an Ineffable Wives smutfic right now but it's still very early in the plotting stages and may never come to fruition. I hope it does -- I'd like to write more.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I've been putting my fanwork on the internet since 2001, it would be a shock if it hadn't been stolen at some point, but I'm not aware of it ever happening.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I don't think so.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
It's been a very long time. I wrote a bunch of stuff with my ex-wife that is probably all off the Internet now, and my BFF and I used to write together a ton when we lived together, but it's been a long time since she and I have shared fandoms and worked on something together. I've always done a round robin/roleplay type of thing where you pass bits of writing around to each other and play off each other. I do think it would be fun to write something with someone else again though, now that Google Docs makes that a lot simpler.
What's your all-time favourite ship?
All-time? I really can't say. Before Good Omens I liked shipping little bits of everything, especially f/f rarepairs, but I've gone through a lot of cycles. Some old favorites are Cardcaptor Sakura - Eriol/Sakura, Avatar: The Last Airbender - Toph/Zuko, Steven Universe - Garnet/Pearl. Right now tops is Aziraphale/Crowley of course.
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
In like March, I started writing a fic where both Crowley and Aziraphale were turfed out of their homes at the beginning of S2 but I couldn't quite figure out where I was going to go with it -- I just wanted them to both be in this uncertain place when Gabriel showed up and both aware of the precarity of their positions. But the rest of the plot has failed to come to me, so idk if I'll finish it. If that inspires someone else, feel free to run with it.
What are your writing strengths?
I hope it's character voices; if I can't hear the dialogue in my head I know it's not right. I also try to write good descriptions and entwine feelings with said description.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I read copper's answer to this and had to laugh in sympathy because I'm currently untangling the ridiculously long sentences in my WIP and wondering why it is I've never found an em-dash I didn't like. I also overuse semi-colons.
My writing weaknesses also include the fact that I will start writing without having a plan, ending, or plot, just because I thought of a good piece of dialogue.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I don't know any other languages but honestly I feel like I tend to go along with fandom convention for this -- so in Japanese language fandoms I feel like honorifics are important and I'll use them, but beyond that it's all English for me.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
I wrote my first fic in 2000/2001-ish and it was a Cardcaptor Sakura fic in which Syaoran and Sakura get together after the end of the series as young adults. I emailed a webmaster I admired and they posted it on their Geocities website. Yes I am old!!
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
I'm kind of stuck on my one favorite thing right now but I'm also rewatching The Good Place and I feel like it would be fun to write for. Sitcoms are really hard imo, I have written Community and Brooklyn 99 and it's really hard to get the humor balance right, but when you do, it pays off great.
What's your favourite fic you've written?
I'm pretty sure this is recency bias as well but recently I got a comment on wake with thirst, which is a Good Omens Michael gen fic that retells bits of the Good Omens story from Michael's POV, and when I reread the fic, I found myself kind of mad that no one else has read it, because I do honestly love it. I feel like I did some clever stuff there in the bits between the canon knowledge we have of Michael. I had fun getting into their weird POV, and also torturing them a bit. But also it's gen-fic about an angel almost no one likes so I get why it hasn't gotten a lot of attention. The Michael and Shax section is probably my favorite.
Tagging!! Obviously please feel free to take this if you see it, but I will tag @carry-the-sky, @ngkiscool, @bl0ndwave, @may--hawk, and @curiouspupsicle just as a random selection of folks!

ik you said you wouldn't do it can i have that comparison between alicent and daenerys pretty please i'm personally fasinated
Alicent and Daenerys:
Both got married off far too young to men much older than them (Viserys and Drogo)
Both experienced marital rape within those marriages (which leads to either thoughts of self-harm, as seen when Dany literally contemplates killing herself as a result of Drogo raping her every night, or actual self-harm, as seen with Alicent doing her nail picking thing, which is canonically a self-harm/anxiety response, while being raped by Viserys)
Both are identified primarily through maternal symbolism (Dany as the Mother of Dragons, Alicent as both mother to her children and also the Seven, which she is very publicly devout to, having an aspect known as The Mother)
Both have loyal personal knights who are obsessed with them (Jorah and Criston Cole)
Both have controlling older male relatives who use (and abuse) them in service of their own ambitions (Viserys III and Otto, though Viserys is significantly more abusive to Dany than Otto is to Alicent)
Both are pushing regnal claims that are seen by large swaths of people as illegitimate (Viserys has a proclaimed heir who is not Aegon, and the Targaryen overthrow is widely viewed as legitimate and just throughout Westeros therefore Dany has no legitimate right to rule)
Both are deeply attached to their children and their wellbeing (Alicent's actual children for her, and both Dany's dragons and originally Rhaego before he was killed in utero)
Both abhor violence done in their name (as seen most specifically with Alicent's reaction to Criston murdering that old guy and with Dany attempting to mitigate the violence happening to the Lhazareen, especially Lhazareen women, after Drogo sacks their villages to get her the Iron Throne)
Both have kinda gay shit happening??? (obviously Alicent has Rhaenyra, and Dany does have a sexual tryst with Irri in the books, although the consent issues surrounding that are A Lot and also it doesn't serve any kind of narrative purpose like Rhaenicent does, I think GRRM just thought it was hot)
Both have (absolutely kickass) personal themes as composed by Ramin Djawadi that have since grown to encompass their entire House/faction (Dany's theme became the dragon theme which became literally just the House Targaryen theme, and Alicent's theme in The Green Dress has burgeoned out to include all of Team Green)
Both have female rivals for supremacy who are, among a myriad of other similarities, attempting to pass off three bastards as trueborn products of their marriages (Rhaenyra and Cersei and quite honestly there are a HUGE amount of comparisons to be made between Rhaenyra and Cersei, I'd make the gifset but it would take me ten thousand years to catalogue it all)
Both have experience ruling nations (Dany through ruling Meereen, Alicent through ruling Westeros during Viserys's infirmity)
Both have a tendency to lash out in moments of temper (Alicent has some moments where she freaks out at Aegon after the first time jump, and Dany literally has to tell Whitebeard/Barristan that sometimes she just has a "dragon's temper")
Both have experience being the only woman in a decision-making room full of men, but still the ones with the most authority (Dany's council in Meereen is almost entirely made up of men but she's the legit queen, the Small Council is all men but Alicent is operating as a stand-in for the king and therefore has his overarching authority)
Both are well-loved by the commons of their areas ("Queen Alicent, beloved of the smallfolk", and Dany is of course mhysa and hailed as basically the Second Coming of Christ by the lowborn slave population of Slaver's Bay and broader Essos)
Both have a keen sense of justice (it's literally part of Dany's whole arc so far in Slaver's Bay, and I know people like to ignore it but 1) Alicent avoided pressing Aegon's claim out of fairness to Rhaenyra for a while, and even appears to have thought about backing off before she misinterpreted Viserys's final words 2) Alicent only turned against Rhaenyra after she felt she had been wronged and wanted to seek recompense)
Both have sexual relationships out of wedlock once widowed (Dany has her fling with Daario Naharis, and if the leaks are true, Alicent's gonna have a fling with Criston, which I'm fine with because after having been repeatedly raped starting from the age of fifteen I think Alicent deserves some consensual orgasms from whoever she decides to choose for fucking once)
Both have a propensity for forgiveness when it comes to their loved ones (Alicent was clearly willing to try and rebuild with Rhaenyra in episodes 4 and 8, and Dany says in her internal monologue that if Jorah had been contrite rather than defiant after she found out about his spying in ASOS, she likely would have taken him back, and she did take him back and flat out forgive him in the show where he was less of a giant douchecanoe)
Both have/will outlive their children (Rhaego is killed in utero and in the show Viserion and Rhaegal died before Dany did, and Alicent does outlive all of her kids by a good few years)
Both are played by supremely hot actresses
Both have super long princess hair that would be practically impossible to grow on a real person's head but it's a tv show and wigs exist therefore it's allowed
Both follow a trajectory from minor nobility dependent on the men in their lives for power (Dany as Viserys's heir in exile, Alicent as the daughter of the Hand) before becoming powerful and mighty in their own right (Dany is a ruling queen, Alicent basically is king while Viserys is bedrotting and is a pretty heavy advisor to her son once he's king)
Both govern through a lens of deep care and prioritization on what is best for the people (Alicent has multiple lines about always prioritizing the people and Dany frequently talks about how she wants to rule in a way that's just and fair for everyone, unlike her piece of shit dad)
Both remove old regime symbols from their areas of control and their own bodies once they gain power and autonomy (Dany despises wearing the tokar and uses it as little as possible as well as removing harpy heraldry and replacing it with Targaryen imagery, Alicent stops wearing Targaryen reds and asserting herself more through her own fashion choices and replaces some Targaryen symbols and those stupid sex tapestries with heraldry of the Faith, which is still centered in Oldtown where her family comes from)
Both have used false charm when dealing with opposing forces (Dany in her dealings with the various people defending Yunkai from her oncoming sack, Alicent in being petty bitchy to Daemon and Rhaenyra which, queen slay)
Both have engineered death and chaos through actions taken to protect loved ones (Alicent's determination to press Aegon's succession due to legitimate fears over what Rhaenyra and Daemon would do to her children creates the circumstances that leads to the Dance, and Dany's determination to save Drogo to the point of having Mirri Maz Duur use blood magic kills her unborn child and also leads to the violent fracturing of Drogo's khalasar)
Both have experienced what can amount to pyrrhic victories (Alicent's side does technically win the Dance but everything is still much worse off than before and there was a lot of violence, which show!Alicent is clearly trying to avoid, and Dany did technically get Drogo's life saved, just at the expense of everything else in her life, and in the show she did technically get the Iron Throne before being murdered like thirteen minutes later)
Both have affection and compassion for those who have abused them (Alicent is a fucking angel for being as kind and caring towards Viserys's ancient ass as she was even though he sucked ass as a husband and person, and Dany both was able to find a love for Drogo and also repeatedly talks about how she misses who Viserys used to be, along with her moment in ADWD where she hallucinates both him and Jorah and thinks on them kinda fondly)
Both experience a reclamation of power after seeing them at their lowest thus far in the story, complete with a visual transformation component (Alicent, after watching her be dismissed, raped, talked over, manipulated, and otherwise literally treated as an object by the men in her life, especially once she's married, asserts her agency as a woman in her own right with her own power, complete with the green dress, and Dany, after losing her child and her husband and a good chunk of the power she had thus far in the loss of the khalasar, along with having been abused and raped herself by Viserys and Drogo, hatches her dragon eggs and asserts her power in her own right, and in the books literally transforms visually by losing her hair as well)
Both have dead mothers who get no fucking backstory (we know fuck-all about Alerie Florent other than that she's dead, and Rhaella gets no interiority beyond being a victim of her psycho husband and then dying in childbirth)
Both bear strong resemblances to older relations (Otto says that Alicent looks a lot like her mother, and Dany is said to bear a strong resemblance to her ancestor Queen Naerys)
Both have four children, including one that everyone forgets about (Dany has her dragons and Rhaego, and everyone forgets about Rhaego, and Alicent has Aegon, Helaena, Aemond, and Daeron, and literally everyone is forgetting about Daeron I think the actual show forgot about Daeron at this point)
Both are subjected to misogynistic slander by men in story (Dany has a lot of rumors spread about her once she conquers Slaver's Bay that are based in absurd lies about her sexual life and "deviancy", Daemon literally calls Alicent a whore, I guess for being loyally married for twenty years, just because he doesn't like her and then accuses her of murdering Viserys, who had half his face falling off the last time Daemon saw him, because Daemon is a fucking moron)
Both have detractors who cannot be fucking normal and not only hurl insane abuse at the characters and fans of the characters, but literally at the actresses themselves (those people who went up to Olivia at, like, a fucking bar just to tell her how much they hated Alicent are never seeing Heaven and that's a fucking fact)
Both, as queens and as people in general, want to do the right thing not just for themselves but those around them (Alicent with her aforementioned considerations when it comes to ruling and also trying to be just a good person to those around her, like comforting Viserys and Rhaenyra after he murders Aemma and trying to do right by her kids, and Dany again by wanting to be a better ruler than her father and freeing slaves even though there's no material benefit to her)
Both hav forgiven objective wrongs done by others (Dany forgives a lot of people who are cruel to her in the books, as well as Barristan Selmy after he reveals himself to be Barristan, and Jorah in the show, and Alicent is clement and kind to Criston Cole after he reveals that he broke his Kingsguard vows in sleeping with Rhaenyra)
Both are goodhearted people who befriend the more disenfranchised (Alicent is, again, fundamentally a good person as seen by how she treats those who have been shit to her, and we see her reaching out to people like Larys, who is mistreated due to his deformity, and saves Criston Cole, and Dany's whole thing is helping and befriending the disenfranchised, as seen by the way she tries to create equal treatment with her handmaids and the way she befriends Missandei, and her goodnaturedness towards the people who support her, especially the former slaves)
Both are interesting characters who would be so greatly served in the ASOIAF/GOT/HOTD fandom could, in any way shape or form, understand that fiction is not real life nor is it morality and just enjoy a story and its characters for the story and the characters
There's probably some more similarities but honestly this went far longer than I thought it would when making an offhand tag, so here we are, similarities between Alicent Hightower (primarily show!verse) and Daenerys Targaryen (primarily books but with some show sprinkled in there as well)!
#personal#answered#anonymous#alicent hightower#daenerys targaryen#having to tag this just for my own blog sorting purposes does feel a bit like kicking at a hornet's nest ah well#but also westeros isn't the only one who sees the targaryen overthrow as legitimate and correct shit so do i#aerys and rhaegar fucking deserved it they both broke the social contract so egregiously#westeros had every right to rise up and kick them the fuck out#only good thing robert baratheon ever did was crush rhaegar's chest with a giant hammer i think he should have done it more#anyway there are a LOT more than i thought i legit had to break up the list see

keeping with the other dunk and egg posts i've seen going around i decided to make one about their missing adventure in dorne bc i think it would have been really fun and i'm angry george skipped over it anyway it's below the cut :))
- Dunk and Egg escort merchants from the Prince's Pass to Vaith, always asking people at the places they stop by about Tanselle and the puppetmaster but getting no leads.
- Egg buys a floppy hat to keep his head from getting burnt, Dunk thinks he looks like a pretty sad dragon.
- They try Dornish peppers, which Egg likes ('I'm three quarters Dornish, ser') but Dunk comically thinks they're way too spicy and burns his mouth.
- When they get to Vaith, they meet Lady Casella Vaith who is mad and thinks Aegon IV is still alive and in love with her. Dunk isn't the most tactful so he says something about the old king being dead and that he surely wasn't really in love with her if he had so many mistresses and bastards—this enrages her, so they leave quickly.
- A servant at Vaith tells them that all artists and singers and creative folk are Orphans of the Greenblood and they'd have better luck looking for Tanselle on the river. They float down the river with the orphans, learning more about their customs, orphan girls try to rub Egg's head for good luck and he gets sulky.
- On the river, they pass the place where Daeron I died and Egg tells Dunk about his death (Dunk originally is confused and thinks he means Daeron II) and how the Dornish were enemies of the Targaryens until his grandfather married Myriah Martell and his sister Daenerys married the Prince of Dorne.
- At the Planky Town, in a tavern, they overhear some Dornishmen who are still upset about Dorne being brought into the Seven Kingdoms (mostly Ullers and Tolands) planning to kidnap Daenerys.
- Dunk and Egg travel to Sunspear to warn her, Egg wants to use his boot but Dunk won't let him until finally at the gates of the palace they won't be let in and are forced to use it. They're brought before Daenerys and Mors and their son and tell them about the plot.
- Mors tells Egg that his mother used to be at Dornish court before she married Prince Maekar and they talk a bit about her, we also learn when and how she died.
- Egg asks Daenerys if it's true that she was in love with Daemon Blackfyre, she smiles and says that it made for a good song but she stopped loving Daemon long ago.
- Egg's cousin shows him around and they all have dinner together ('Won't you try the peppers, Ser Duncan?'). Dunk asks if they've had any news about a puppet troupe and Mors says that they did just hear that one recently set sail for Braavos... (setting up another story?) When the kidnappers come, Mors' guards and Dunk beat them away and Dunk kills one of them.
- As a reward, Dunk and Egg are invited to the Water Gardens, which are newly finished, and Egg plays in the fountains with the lowborn children. He convinces Dunk to join them and the story ends with Egg riding on Dunk's shoulders and challenging the other children (they have quite the advantage, of course).
#dunk and egg#asoiaf#a song of ice and fire#duncan the tall#aegon v targaryen#they don't go to starfall but they DO pass it on the way to oldtown to meet aemon!!

Modern!Cregan stark x fem!reader
A/N: I was inspired by @valeskafics modern take on Cregan. She was lovely and gave me permission to use him as a hockey player like her fic! Shoutout to bel for getting me obsessed with another Stark man 😘 so inspiration creds to Bel
Warnings: Fluff, shy Cregan, public fingering, fem receiving (it’s at the end so if you don’t want to read that then skip and go to the last part), cussing, Viserys III being a whiny ass yes I made it a warning 😂
I don’t own the characters of asoif or claim to. All characters belong to George R.R. Martin and HBO
You met in college, junior year, psychology class. Cregan had transferred last year to your university because he was getting more playing time here. Your brother was on the hockey team with them. Elijah was a senior and took Cregan under his wing last year. You knew about Cregan, his hockey career, stats because of your brother.
The professor was teaching when the door busted open and Cregan walked in. He was a beautiful mess, his hair was tossed around from the unexpected wind storm. His shirt was sideways, his backpack was about to fall off his shoulders. He was blushing so bad too.
“Thank you for joining us, Mr. Stark” the professor rolled his eyes. Cregan mumbled something but he was looking for a seat. You sat your backpack down silently telling him to sit down.
Class ended and you walked out of the room and down the hall. Cregan watched you and decided to talk to you. He has seen you somewhere and he can’t figure it out. “Y/n, hey can I ask you something?”
“You just did” you deadpanned as you turn around to him
Cregan furrowed his eyebrows making you giggle, “What is it?”
“Uh are you Otter’s sister?” He asked slowly blinking
“Yeah little sister unfortunately” you joked
“Um so will you be at our next game? If you are I was wondering if you maybe wanted to uh go out with me som-time. Only if you want to” Cregan blushed
“Yes I’ll be there. Yes I’ll go out with you”, you smiled up at him
“What wait?! That’s great, I’ll text you later”, He smiled as he walked out
“Where you gonna get it from? Huh?” You giggled making him stop in his tracks walking back to you
“Right.. sorry I’m not really good with people” Cregan blushed.
“It’s okay, I’m not much of a people person either. Here give me your phone” you smirked
———-
You and Creagn decided on a little restaurant on the strip down from campus. It was a little intimate for a first date. Everyone went there and they had really good.
Cregan decided to impress you so he got a spicy bowl of noodles and veggies. You and the waitress looked at each but she smiled and told us she would get it right in.
The food came out soon and you were smiling waiting for Cregan to eat his noodles.
Cregan took a bite and his blue eyes widened as the heat tingled his tongue
“Spicy enough for you?” You smiled
The date went good and he was walking you back home to your apartment you shared with your best friend, Daenerys and her brother, Viserys. And her boyfriend Dario doesn't pay rent but lives there practically. He can cook pretty much everything so you weren’t complaining. Viserys was unlocking the door when you two exited the elevator. He saw you and Cregan and grinned as he shut the door. “Who’s that?” Cregan asked
“Viserys, my best friend’s older annoying brother. Pain in my ass too” You giggled
Cregan looked around the hallway and could tell it was a richer apartment complex, “Uh how do you afford this?”
“Oh Vis and Dany’s dad pays for it.. I didn’t want to live in the dorms after freshman year” you said.
Cregan nodded, “So are you gonna be at the game tomorrow?”
“Yeah I’ll be there” you smiled
—————
Two months had passed you two were getting pretty serious. As it got closer to the your brothers graduation you were worried that Cregan would dump you for someone else for next year. Cregan was in your room as you went to get Dany’s Amazon package at the door. You walked back in sitting on your bed at the bottom corner, Cregan was at the pillows laying on your octopus squishmallow.
“Hey don’t lay on her like that” you jerked it from under him.
“She’s comfortable” Cregan smirked
You sat the squish on the chair that was next to the bed, “Poor thing is misshapen now”
Cregan drugged you up the bed by your arms as he laid on you on his chest, “I’m sorry I’ll shape her back before I leave” Cregan kissed your head.
It was quiet as you laid on Cregan’s chest listening to his heartbeat
“I love you” Cregan blurted out
“I love you too” You smiled at his chest
Suddenly there was a porn graphic moan coming from Viserys’ room making you and Cregan look at each other and laughed
“Did he forget we were here?” Cregan laughed rubbing his hand on your back
“Maybe but he doesn’t care either” You replied
————- it was Elijah’s graduation, you and your younger sister were talking and just catching up as you didn’t go home for spring break. Suddenly she turned her gaze to someone walking down the steps. You followed her gaze to Cregan. Elijah had invited him and you completely forgot about it. Cregan was in a white button up and black slacks and black dress shoes. You were gonna say hi but your father saw him and started talking to him about hockey. Cregan would talk about hockey for hours if you got him on that topic. You sighed and turned back to your sister. Elijah’s graduation ended and your parents were taking everyone out to eat.
You sat down with Cregan finally seeing him today, “Hi baby, you look beautiful as always” Cregan whispered in your ear
“Hi”
“Awh don’t be like that, princess” Cregan sat his hand on your knee rubbing it
“Like what?” You replied looking at the menu
“You’re jealous aren’t you? Jealous that I sat with your dad and talked to him. I am in the right ballpark, princess?” Cregan smirked
“You could’ve said hi first” you sighed
“I’ll remember that next time, now don’t be so stubborn” Cregan’s hand went up your leg more, the dress you chose was riding up as you sat down.
You let a breathe out as he rubbed his hand up and down your leg
You were talking to your sister again completely forgetting about Cregan’s and his rouge hand.. out of instinct you spread your legs open as Cregan reached between your thighs. Cregan smirked as he slowly trailed up your legs and pulled your underwear to the side. Then it hit you how far he was, you turned to look at him but he had his head turned as he talked to your brother and a fellow teammate. His hands still in your panties, he rubbed your clit, making you bite your finger.
He had two fingers in you slowly taking them out and shoving them back in, his hand thumb played with your clit. You knew your tongue would be sore tomorrow from all the bite marks you were giving it. You groaned but covered it up as a cough as he picked up his pace. “You alright, honey?” Your mother asked
“Perfect actually” You reached under the table grabbing his wrist. Cregan looked at you and whispered in your ear, “Liar”
You were almost there but the waitress brought everyone’s food. Cregan took his hand away and rubbed your juices on his napkin with a shit eating grin. After dinner you rode back with Cregan, he was walking you up to your apartment.
“So the year is over, are you gonna dump me for someone else for next year?” You asked but didn’t realize you had said it
“No, I want to be with you as long as you let me. I love you Y/n a lot actually, you still make me nervous. You’re a good girl I like being with you” Cregan brushed a piece of your hair back
“I love you too” you blushed
“I take it, I still make you nervous, don’t I ?” Cregan asked with a gentle smile
“Just a bit” You giggled
Cregan bent down and kissed you holding your back in his hand holding you close to him. You held a hand on his chest as you kissed him back.
“Call me tomorrow, huh?” Cregan squeezed your cheek gently as he smiled
“Yeah” you opened the door, Viserys whined as you hit him with the door not realizing he was there. “You jackass! I told you to quit spying” Dario laughed.
Cregan chuckled, “See ya love”
You blushed as he walked away and you decided to check on Viserys and his possible injuries.. “Let me see,” you sighed, shutting the door. Viserys was holding his cheek, “It’s fine probably will be bruised later”
“Sorry I didn’t mean to hurt the pretty dragon’s face” you joked but honestly felt bad.
“Dragon? What?” Dario asked from his place on the couch
“It’s nothing”
“Nothing my ass.. he calls himself that during his hook ups. It’s his por-“ you said but Viserys threw you over his shoulder walking back down the hallway were your rooms were at

Everytime I read fire and blood, I can't imagine how dirty Rhaenys tqwnw was done. Not only Jaehaerys skipped her as heir, he then made an election where sexist pigs were allowed to vote. Obviously he knew what he was doing, Vaegon knew what he was doing and all knew the outcome of the 101 council. Why would Jaehaerys choose a weak Walserys as his heir though. Could have at least trained him for the role of king eventually, since Aemon's death.
Btw do we know what Daenerys thinks of Rhaenyra
On top of my head I'm going to go with Jaehaerys was interested in keeping his male line on the throne, just out of the top of my head. Trying to impose modern values and views on characters from another universe similar to Medieval Europe would not be the best thing to do imho. Also very unfortunately, since Westeros was mostly ruled by "sexist pigs" they would be the ones choosing, yes. Definitely Jaehaerys wouldn't say "My lords, actually your wives get the vote." Hum... actually going by Alicent, maybe that would have been even worse for Rhaenys.
I think Jaehaerys did this because he wanted to wash his hands from another choice.
As for Viserys, we don't know what kind of preparation he had, just as we don't know if and what preparation Rhaenys had. We also don't know how successful of a ruler she would have been, but what I saw during the Dance and before was Corlys taking center stage a LOT, and Rhaenys kind of being in the background for the most part - except in the Battle of Rook's Rest.
I would argue, however, that having good preparation to rule, or even, being a good ruler, doesn't mean you'll be successful at handling your family, just as Alysanne and Jaehaerys very successfully proved; and actually you can have limitations as a ruler yet be very successful at managing a family - like Rhaenyra and Daemon very successfully proved with their children.
If you want to talk about how dirty Rhaenys was done, I think you can start by bringing up her husband having not one but two bastard children with a woman younger than their daughter and then passing those same children as her grandsons and sons of her dead son.
Now that's being done dirty. But most of y'all just hate Jaehaerys and aren't ready for this convo.
Not. At. All.
No, we don't. Rhaenyra is barely mentioned in the main asoiaf books and I believe there's no scene of Daenerys considering her - which is curious given Rhaenyra's importance and how much she and Dany have in common, but again, just comes to show how George didn't have a whole lot figured out/thought of at the time.
We do have two characters who mention her though.
The first one to mention her is Stannis Baratheron, to call her a usurper and to point out how usurpers need to be punished no matter who they are - I love this part especially since he's s descendent of hers. Thank the gods Rhaenyra was Rhaenyra and not a robot, sir, or you wouldn't be here. #cancelled
The second one is Arianne who is... pretty much trying to compare herself to Rhaenyra when it's like... lady *sigh* you aren't even close.
Some people would say Arianne would be like "You like Rhaenyra? Oh, name her first album". But actually given how George changed the story and characters of the Dance since then... we are pretty much talking about a character with significant differences from the one Arianne is trying to compare herself with - and even then there's not much to go by. Like I don't know what Arianne thought the Dance was about, but it wasn't about some 20+ year old saying "Daddy Love me!" and trying to get his attention by acting a fool. Arianne had daddy issues, Rhaenyra had uncley issues. They weren't the same.
I would actually say that if Arianne said this Rhaenyra would be like "Arianne *sigh* first of it's not samples that you have to give it to everyone, and second, you don't know me. Girl, bye, I'm TeamDany. Bye!"
Arianne:
Rhaenyra:

Writeblr Interview
Thank you both to @leahnardo-da-veggie and @drchenquill for the tag!
Short stories, novels or poems?
Novels! all the way
What genre do you prefer reading?
Fantasy, both dark and romantasy. even better if they're combined
What genre do you prefer writing?
Fantasy! I tend to struggle writing anything but fantasy.
Are you a planner or a write-as-i-go kind of person?
I like to start with a plan and some ideas, then let the characters take the reins and throw it all out the door
What music do you listen to while writing the story?
I have a playlist with cinematic soundtracks that I tend to listen too. Though I do often listen to the GOT and HOTD soundtracks. Daenerys' aaaHHHH AHHHH's actually are the source of a lot of Zemorri's most badass scenes.
Fav books/movies
I've been trying to get more into reading so lately it's been ASOIAF and the Witcher - two of which inspired the creation of Nyrus and POTO. I have a long TBR but I like to buy books before I read them, which is hard right now with money being a bit tight the next month or so.
Any Current WIPs?
2! Well, more like 3 if you include the second Plight of the Dragon, the sequel to POTO. We have Plight of the Oracle, which I pretty much have dedicated my blog too. Plight of the Dragon, which is more like one shots and random braindumps of what happens after the first book. Then Familia Ante Omnia, trilogy set in modern day NYC and is about the downfall of the crime ring from inside. Which I actually see a lot of it's themes in POTO. But that's on a hiatus for the foreseeable future.
If someone were to make a cartoon out of you, what would your standard outfit be?
An oversized orangey flannel, black crop top, and either leggings or shorts depending on the weather. Throw in a black beanie for good measure too
Create a character description of yourself
oof okay here we go
She was a short, adorable little thing. She sat fidgeting with a ring on her left ring finger, too timid to make her presence known. Her dark brown hair, cropped at her shoulders was tucked behind her ears. A few strands that had once been a fringe fell, cascading over her grey eyes. The roseness of her cheeks a striking contrast to the porcelain like skin. She looks up at someone giving a slightly crooked smile before getting up from her seat.
was literally me a few minutes ago rereading was I wrote when my fiance came up and wanted to go up to bed lmao
Do you like incorporating people you actually know into your writing?
oof no, hard pass. fictional people tend to be more interesting anyway
Are you kill-happy with the characters?
I tend to be? I have a rule with killing off characters, a few actually. It ends their arc nicely, it serves an actual purpose and isn't for shock value, and they under no circumstance can come back alive. I absolutely h a t e when death is cheapened. Don't introduce stakes that high only to make them pointless.
Coffee or Tea while writing?
diet coke or water!
Slow or Fast writer?
both? I don't know what is considered fast I guess. If i'm really feeling it and don't have distractions I can get about 1k an hour and keep that up for a few hours. Then there's days like today I'm surrounded by distractions and not feeling it too much, right now I'm at 1,500 for the 4 hours i've written
Where/who/what do you find inspiration from?
Shows and books! Also games. Funny enough Zemorri came from a skyrim oc and Sciosa came from DnD campaign that never happened. They've both undergone a lot of changes since then though.
If you were put into a fantasy world, what would you be?
I answered a similar question a few times and I think I'd really be a dragon. I'm a hoarder of my little trinkets and love to stir the pot a bit.
Most fave book cliche?
Chosen one and mentor. WIth a spin. Do not give me another old ratty wizard and some a elijah wood/daniel radcliff look alike. PLEASE. Using this to promo POTO which has chosen one and mentor- mentor: hot scary milf chosen one: anger riddled brat who really isn't keen on playing by the book. boom there. not that hard.
got kinda heated there. apologies
Least fave book cliche?
"Only one bed" I'm sorry!! It's just over done at this point
Fave scenes to write?
Any scene with dragons. They're the most fun to write honestly.
Most productive time of day for writing?
Night! I literally typed that as nite send help I've always been a night owl haha. It's actually almost 4 am as I type this
Reason for writing?
Writing has always been an interest of mine. I would love one day to be able to support my family with it! Whether that's as an indie author or traditional author. Also I fear I would go crazy with how many stories and plot lines I got up in my head. That or my oc's would manifest irl and nuke me right there with their dragons.
Leaving this an open tag!
My brain is clocking out and I can't even think of who to tag at this point. So if you're reading this and want to be tagged congrats!! Consider yourself tagged

On thirteen children of Jaehaerys and Alyssane and why I think they were shitty af
I want to preface this by saying this is only my opinion on the matter and you are free to disagree. Also that I do think they were decent rules but they were pretty bad parents, specifically to their daughters. However while I do see a bit part of the fandom hate on Viserys(rightfully), I feel like many people forget/don't know much about Jaehaers and Alyssane. So let's break it down, shall we?
So, their first child Aegon, dies merely days after being born, so he isn't relevant to this discussion. Daenerys, their second child, while she also died young, at only the age of 7, Jaehaerys already started showing his sexism towards her. Alyssane considered her an heir to the throne since she was their eldest at the time, but Jaeherys did not, preferring Aemon as his heir, through the male line.
To appease Alyssane, he he suggested they marry them so they could rule together, rendering Daenerys to queen consort. It did not come to pass because of Daenerys dying of the shivers.
Now for the topic of Aemon and Baelon I will say that for the most part, their parents seemed to have treated them fairly. Do I suspect it was because they were men? Yes. Will I give them some credit for it anyway? Sure. Non trumatized children were hard to come by in Targaryens it seems.
Next, we have Alyssa, who was also Baelor's wife. By Targaryen tradition, she should have married her brother Aemon, but due to how much she trailed after Baelon, Queen Alyssane decided she was going to let them marry. It is also important to note Alyssa was the only one of their daughters that was allowed /able to ride a dragon.
I do suspect Jaehaerys didn't think his daughters needed to learn how to ride a dragon and because they planned on marrying them off, to not take the dragon with them. -insert bombastic side eye-
Maegelle was another one of the "easy" daughters for them to deal with. She was descirbed as very pios and later became a septa. She also bridged a gap between Jaehaerys and Alyssane during their Quarrels.
Vaegon was...well. He was certainly not described to be a pleasant person and while it was planned for him to marry his sister Daella, he never seemed to be interested. Here we see first sign of neglect on Jaehaerys's part imo. While Alyssane said it seemed Vaegon and Daella don't seem to be well match, he continuously shrugged her off. Until Vaegon insulted Daella to tears by saying she can barely read and all she is good for is giving some lord dumb children. After that bethroal was broken.
He also never claimed a dragon of his own, which I find interesting with how only two generations later we have so many dragons, even with "less Targaryen blood". But I digress. He went to the Citadel and refused the title of the Prince of Dragonstone after Baelon died.
Now, Daella. She was pretty heavily autistic coded and likely had some developmental disorder as well as anxiety. (Which considering the amount of incest is probably a wonder it's that rare but I disgress) This is where I believe showrunners got the idea for how they wrote Helaena in the show. She was described as shy and often frightened. Her sister Saera loved to prank her and leave a cat in her room, of which Daella was deathly afraid of.
Now, Daella is one of the reasons I truly began to hate Jaehaerys and Alyssane. After her disastrous engagment to her brother, it was "difficult" for her to find a husband. There were several suitors but she didn't like them for one reason or the other.
Once she turned 16 though, Jaehaerys put his foot down. He told Alyssane to give her a choice of who to marry but that she must get married by the end of the year.(Because god forrbid she actually waits for the age when she may survive childbirth)
In the end, Daella choose Rodrik Arryn out of three suitors. Rodrik was 36 years old and Daella who was 16, was his second wife. She got pregnant two years later, in 82 AC and died giving birth to Aemma Arryn. (Daella also knew she was going to die as soon as she became pregnant which is why some speculate she was a dragon dreamer)
After that, Alyssane and Jaehaerys had their First Quarrel. Alyssane didn't understand why Daella was forced to be married so young despite clearly being such a sensitive child. Which tells you how fucking bad that was.
Next up was Saera. And oh boi, was she a lot. It is said her first word spoken was no and that she continously used it after that. It also seems she wanted more attention than Alyssane wanted to give or be able to provide because she often screamed until she got the attention. Alyssane even remarks on how difficult she was even as a child.
It seems that with all the children running around most of them were left with wet nurses and servant so they most ran around. Saera's pranks and jokes were often cruel, especially concerning her sister Daella, who was already often scared. Instead of addressing it properly or considering "oh shit maybe we should pay more attention to our 'problem child'" Jaehaerys and Alyssane ignored it.
Until she was revealed to have slept with three of her favorites, Ser Braxton Beesbury, Lord Roy Connington, and Jonah Mooton and declared she could marry all three of them like Maegor.
Jaehaerys' brilliant solution was to lock her up in her chambers and tell Alyssane he is disowning her. When Saera tried to escape by claiming a dragon, he improsoned her in the tower and later sent to the Silent Sisters as a punishment. (I do find it interesting that was enraged him the most was her trying to claim a dragon). And like. Yes, she was obviously wild at this point but for someone to be this wild at age 17, you must have really, really done something wrong.
Saera ended up escaping from Silent Sisters, and her time there sounds like torture, including shaving her head, beating her for when she broke the rules, etc. She killed a septa during her escape and became a prostitute.
Jaehaerys' answer to all that? "She has always been a whore." Wonderful parenting. I wish Alyssane had poisoned him right then and there.
Then, we have "problem daughter" number 2, Viserra. She was described as very beautiful, vain, and while also being very high spirited like Saera, she didn't scream for attention but got it in different ways.
She liked to make boys fight to her attention, one time notably telling two of them that whoever put a head in dragon's mouth could have her hand in marriage. Thankfully, dragonkeeper intervened before anything happened.
The only one she wanted to marry was her brother Baelon, though, who was widowed after the death of Alyssa. Alyssane thought she wanted to be queen rather than truly love Baelon. So she made a match for Viserra when she was only 15, to Theomore Manderly. I couldn't find his exact age, but Viserra would have been his 4th wife and 14 years prior his daughter was one of Alyssane's companion. It's safe to say he was not of appropriate age for a 15 yeat old.
To try and stop the betrothal, Viserra snuck into Baelon's room and laid on his bed naked. When he found her, he sent her away.
A day before she was supposed to be shipped off to her new husband, she snuck out again to have "one more night of fun and laughter". She and her friends had a horse race, in which she collided with another horse, fell off her saddle and broke her neck.
It seems Alyssane hated her daughters being even a bit ambitious, to a point where she marries them off waaay too young just to get them away from court. And I genuinely don't understand? Especially in terms of Viserra. She was only 15. The only explanation to me is that Alyssane was really scared she'd suceed and replace her as a queen one day, which is fucking ridiculous.
I will also take a moment to give Jaehaerys another point for being shitty here, since after Viserra was born, Alyssane told him she doesn't want to have any more children. Due to her health being influenced after giving birth 10 TIMES! Jaehaerys' answer? Our mother gave birth in her 40's! Their mother, who died in childbirth after giving Rogar Baratheon his second child, against advice of maesters. They also literally watched her die so. Extra point! Really, someone should have murdered this guy at this point.
Next, we have Gaemon, who was born prematurely and died only three months later. Which is not surprising considering my previous point. But did Jaehaerys stop trying to impregnate his wife? No!
So, next child was Valerion, who was another premature baby and died before his first nameday. Alyssane was left bedridden for 6 months after giving birth fo him.
Did Jaehaerys stop here? Also no folks! Because their mother gave birth at 46 years old before she died so surely Alyssane can too? Despite being pregnant for almost 12 years of her life at this point?
Their last child was Gael. She was described as "winter child" both because of being born in the winter and because the Queen was well past her spring years when she gave birth to her. She was frail and followed her mother everywhere. When she was 19, she disappeared. Some say ahe died from the fever, some that she had her heart broken by a traveling singer, who impregnated her. In that version of the story, she drowns herself after giving birth to a stillborn.
And that, folks concluded 13 children of Jaehaerys and Alyssane! It seems to me they did an okay job up until Alyssa and then things went more and more downhill. The sheer amount of mortality rate is insane, even for medival times. Like infants died yes, but grown children? The fact that Saera lived the longest simply by running off to a brothel is insane.
If you read up until this part, I appriciate it. God knows how fucking long this is. If anyone has any more question on any of them, my asks and dms are open
#13 children of jaehaerys and alyssane#jaehaerys targaryen#alyssane targaryen#I am absolutely not tagging all of the children#this post took so long bc I kept cross referencing the book so I don't fuck up stuff#if anyone actually reads all of this you are a saint#f&b rant

*Mic check* I'd like to add a few words, thank you!
This ending sucks not because it's tragic and ironic but because it doesn't make any sense. It adds absolutely nothing but pointless tragedy and irony.
Let's look at it from different perspectives, shall we?
First - why is the Night's Watch even there in the end? It has two purposes - to guard 7 kingdoms from the others and to guard it from wildlings. And last several thousands years it served mostly the second purpose. So the others are eliminated and wildlings are North's "friends" or allies or subordinates thanks to Jon - so why would the Night's Watch still be there? What they gonna do - just hang out? Chill on top of the destroyed Wall?
But okay, let's say the Night's Watch stands - although now they lack any purpose and lack people (most of them are just killed in the battles against the others, very little people are gonna arrive because, you know, years of devastating wars and Daenerys's war crimes and westerosi population is pretty much decreased). For whatever reasons - maybe they stay there just in case or because they don't want dissolve ancient and dying on its own order.
Show Jon went there for what? For queenslaying? Well, show Daenerys wasn't crowned yet, official queen of Westeros at that point was Cersei and little Hitler speech after her death still didn't mean that Daenerys was an official queen, there were ought to be some ceremonies, blessing of church and etc. Oathbreaking is not punishable, as far as I can remember, lawbreaking is. And after what she did to King's Landing I don't think there are gonna be debates on whether he broke the law or it was the lesser evil or whatever. Jaime didn't go to the Night's Watch, and in his case no one knew about Mad King's evil plans. Sure, there gonna be some displeased people - in show they were Greyjoys and Daenerys's army. Like yeah, let's pass a sentence for Stark-Targaryen (show)-legitimate heir - the most noble man in whole damn Westeros - based on Greyjoy's complaints and accusations of some former slaves.
But sure, let's say that it's all me rambling about the show. Let's say that GRRM will do it differently - the way that his "punishment" does make sense. Maybe even the Night's Watch will make some sense, idk.
So let's get a look on some themes.
My biggest issue with the Night's Watch ending is about Jon's death. He died, his watch had ended - that's it. He fulfilled his purpose on the Wall, he kept his ridiculous vows. Returning back to the Night Watch in this case is not ironic or tragic - it just cancels out the whole his Night's Watch arc. Like, what's the meaning of words "My watch has ended" (and I think that phrase is gonna make it to TWOW) if Jon gonna return? It has no weight.
It also cancels out some foreshadowing from the first books. Like - remember how Catelyn said that she was glad Jon joining the Night's watch and having no children to mess up with her grandkids birthrights? What's the irony in that? Everybody was happy Jon went to the celibacy order being sorta exiled and 7 books later he is exiled and stays in said order? You know what it sounds like? It sounds like another failed character arc in the show - Jaime's. You know, how he started with loving Cersei unconditionally, had his own emotional journey of trying to un-love her and still ended up loving her unconditionally in the end.
No, it's not how GRRM writes irony.
Let's take a look on yet another character arc, shall we?
Sansa Stark.
I think we all can agree she will end up as Queen in the North, no doubts here (forshadowing + political arc + show and stuff). So we got ourselves a pretty finished character arc.
She starts in Winterfell wanting to go south, wanting to marry some noble handsome southerner, to see tournaments and to be a part of royal court. Along her journey she does all that in the most twisted way and understands that there's no place like home aka Winterfell. So she returns there and stays for good. What's the irony in that, you ask? Well the irony is that if things went the way they were supposed to she wouldn't enjoy staying in Winterfell for the rest of her life I think. A girl with southern looks who likes stories about knights and tournaments, who loves songs and minstrels wanted to go away from Winterfell where there is no tournaments and no minstrels. She enjoyed her staying in King's Landing until Robert's death. She didn't complained about the heat and she didn't express any home sickness. She wouldn't want to go back to Winterfell so much if things didn't go wrong.
See - that is this kind of irony and tragedy we can expect from GRRM for his main characters that will make it to the very end. Yes, the character ends up in the geographical position she was in the beginning - but in this case it completes her journey, not cancels it out.
I wish we can look into some other characters, but we know almost nothing - because none of the endings in the show (aside Sansa's) makes sense and I don't want to give the show too much trust). Some of them are just ridiculous (like Jaime's) and some we just don't have enough information about (like Bran's) - but still we can make some assumptions about Jon.
I think the kind of irony they were looking for is not "Jon thought he was good for nothing but the Night's watch and he ends up just like he and everybody around him always thought - good for nothing but the Night's watch". I think the appropriate amount of irony is "Jon always wanted a lady wife, children and Winterfell for himself even though he had no chances to gain all of that, and against all odds he ended up in Winterfell but for impossible price of Robb's life and knowledge that his whole life was nothing but a bunch of lies".
After all, ASoIaF is not about senseless tragedies. It is about hope. Yes, our favourite characters sometimes die or end up not being somewhere they would prefer. But also the tragedies happen to them not because of some evil fate but because of the mistakes they made (and killing the totalitarian Daenerys just doesn't look like one). ASoIaF is actually very hopeful. Villains are dying the most ironic way possible, they do not escape the westerosi karma. Heroes are still kind and hopeful - even after all of her courting and marriage failures Sansa still hopes to find love and some sort of happiness in her future marriage. Jon still hopes to reconnect with his family after all the times people said he should forget about them. After all those years living in dishonor Jaime finally has a hope to be a little bit honorable about his oath to Catelyn (even through Brienne). Azor Ahai is supposed to bring everlasting summer. The Night King is supposed to die so that he can't proceed with Long Night 2.0. The Winter is coming but after it came it is spring on the way. Goddamit - the last book in series is called A Dream of Spring - and it sounds hopeful af to me!
See that?
ASoIaF starts with tragedies. But it doesn't have to end with one.
At least I'm hoping so.
Sure, GRRM still can write whatever end he wants to. Jon still can end up in the Night's Watch. GRRM still can write his ending the way that it will make sense. But at this point it sure as hell doesn't - neither in show nor in books.
Case closed.
Martin loves circular endings and irony though and endings where history rhymes. So Jon back at the wall makes a ton of sense thematically. I remember watching the show before even reading the books and when we we found out that Aemon, the maester at the wall, was a Targ and came to the wall/became a maester almost in a self-sacrificial way to not cause any problems re future claims to the Iron Throne my first thought was 'Yeah, this is gonna be Jon's endgame. Aemon is his mirror character and he will end up back at the wall repeating history.' Low and behold 8 years later I was right lmao. A lot of Jon fans don't like his ending because they think he's a hero and good guy so he doesn't deserve to go back to the wall. The nature of tragic or ironic endings are not about what characters deserve, half the characters in the books didn't deserve what happened to them, that's what makes it tragic and ironic.
Aemon, the maester at the wall, was a Targ and came to the wall/became a maester almost in a self-sacrificial way to not cause any problems re future claims to the Iron Throne
Why must you hurt me this way?
'Yeah, this is gonna be Jon's endgame. Aemon is his mirror character and he will end up back at the wall repeating history.'
Stop, I beg.
Low and behold 8 years later I was right lmao.
Listen here, you smug bastard! 😂
A lot of Jon fans
I am of the variety
don't like his ending
it fucking sucks, but go on
because they think he's a hero
wishing that some hero would throw him down and cut off his head --> Longclaw descended
and good guy so he doesn't deserve to go back to the wall
NO ONE DESERVES TO BE AT THE WALL IT IS A CORRUPT INSTITUTION USED TO UNJUSTLY PUNISH BOYS! FORCED VOWS OF CELIBACY ARE WRONG! THE IDEA OF PREVENTING SOMEONE FROM FEELING LOVE IS STUPID AND TAKING THEIR FUTURE FROM THEM IS VILE! (*screams for 17 minutes*) AND ANOTHER THING-- (*slaps myself*) —I'm not overly fond of the Watch, now that you mention it.
The nature of tragic or ironic endings are not about what characters deserve, half the characters in the books didn't deserve what happened to them
Oh. I guess I could have read the whole ask before gnawing on my dresser.
that's what makes it tragic and ironic.
*gasps* You smart ass! Lmaooo. I did not see that coming from the beginning, I'm so impressed you called it that early on! And before you knew he was a Targ? Or had you clocked that by then too? That had to be the best feeling that while the rest of us were bitching and moaning you were like, tell me something I didn't know from s1. My gosh. The people you watched it with must have been so annoyed with you! Wait, if you knew Jon was Aemon-ing, who did you think would rule in the end?
#i'm so sorry#it's another long ass essay nobody asked for#but i saw your post and those arguements just kinda started to pop up in my head#but maybe someone will see that and maybe change their mind about jon's ending#although it'll be hella fun if 10 years later jon will end up behind the wall#jon snow#asoiaf

Game of Thrones - Love Letter and Handwriting Headcanons
In this preference, you'll be writing to: Ned Stark, Robb Stark, Sansa Stark, Jon Snow, Benjen Stark, Jory Cassel, Eddison Tollett, Yara Greyjoy, Daenerys Targaryen, Jorah Mormont, Missandei, Grey Worm, Tywin Lannister, Tyrion Lannister, Jaime Lannister, Sandor Clegane, Bronn, Petyr Baelish, Stannis Baratheon, Davos Seaworth, Margaery Tyrell, Brynden Tully, Edmure Tully, Brienne of Tarth, Ramsay Bolton, Roose Bolton, Oberyn Martell, Arianne Martell
my own silly fanfic made me think of this bc there’s letter writing later on in that. whee!
Ned Stark
His handwriting is neat, evenly spaced and fairly plain. It’s easily readable, which is the point - he knows not everyone is well-versed in letters and he tries to make it easier. Ned typical sends ravens, only writing a full letter for when he has to give instructions or relay something important. He has a formal Stark wax seal for this… and yes, he uses that same formal seal when he sends something to you. The more you exchange letters, the more relaxed he clearly becomes in writing. He knows he isn’t romantic or poetic by any means, but he hopes his affection for you comes across.
Robb Stark
Goodness knows he’s had endless lessons on writing properly and expressing the right words, but Robb just has no interest in it. His handwriting is perfectly legible but obviously hastily written, and he doesn’t care if there’s a few smudges or the paper gets dirty. When he’s writing to you, he’ll try to be neater… but sometimes he’s just got so much to say, and he’s so eager to send it, he doesn’t even notice the mess. Robb never thought he’d anticipate letters, especially romantic ones, but he loves receiving things from you. If you live far away, he feels the distance strongly and starts to rely on your letters to feel more connected to you.
Sansa Stark
As expected, her penmanship is pretty and neat. If she's in a good mood she'll add little flourishes here and there, but normally she's a bit embarrassed to do it. It feels childish to do that now. When she finds a nice stationary, she saves it until she writes to you. Her envelopes have the usual Stark direwolf with some wildflowers along the border. Honest and romantic words used to come easy to her, but now she’s more subdued. She’ll include pretty poetry she heard and wanted to share with you.
Jon Snow
His writing would be neater if he just slowed down, but he’s often in haste, especially once he becomes Lord Commander. He never cared about the proper penmanship or address because who would a bastard write to? Really, it’s lucky he was taught letters at all. He’d do his best to write neater for you, but the words keep escaping him - It’s hard enough to express how he feels in person, writing it isn’t any easier, no matter what Sam says. Jon always responds if you write to him, even if he’s blushing and feeling stupid the whole time.
Benjen Stark
He’s perfectly capable of writing neatly, but Benjen rarely bothers to. He jots down what he needs, though he at least has to make it legible - there’s only so many men that know their letters at the Wall, and Benjen has to keep his orders neat. When you pass him a secret letter, he’s grinning like a boy. He thinks it’s adorable that you went through the effort of finding supplies and writing something so sweet. He’ll ask to read it in front of you, but if you make him do it in secret, he’ll want to run and find you as soon as he’s done. He’d fold it up tight and keep it in a safe pouch tied to his belt.
Jory Cassel
His handwriting is pretty messy. Jory was never bothered by it until he had to write you something. Oh no. Wasn't there a proper way to address you? What if it was too personal, or too standoffish? Poor Jory overthinks his letters unless you two write with frequency. His handwriting won't get better, but he's more comfortable writing sweet things. He likes to keep his envelopes and papers plain so no one suspects anything, which is a good habit if you’re dating in secret, but a silly once if you’re married.
Eddison Tollett
He jokes it’s a small miracle that he knows his letters, poor as his family was. He likes to pretend he doesn’t, just so the higher ups on the Wall won’t give him extra duties like they did Sam. Reading never interested him, and he had no one to write to, so it’s just not something he thinks about. When you slip him a letter, he just stares at it dumbly for a minute. Once Edd has a chance to open it up, he’s a little taken aback. What… should he do? Should he talk to you? Respond to it? He’s never had such a nice gesture given to him, never had anyone write such nice things to him (has he even received a letter before??). So the next time to meet him, he still has a stupefied look on his face. And here he was thinking nothing on the Wall could surprise him anymore..
Yara Greyjoy
She was taught writing and reading by her nuncle - because the Gods know her father hardly bothered - so she actually has fond memories of both, even if she hardly does it. Yara would be very curious by anything you sent. Was something wrong? If it smelled of perfume or had a pretty stationary, she’d snort… but once she read the contents, she’d just grin and laugh. If the letter is more romantic, she finds it silly, but so like you. Very endearing. If it’s more saucy and risque, well … she’s going to read this in private and take her time.
Daenerys Targaryen
Her handwriting wasn’t as neat as it could’ve been, given her upbringing. It’s a point of embarrassment, so Dany practices pretty lettering and uses interesting inks she’s found around the markets. It’s a bit relaxing, though when she’s writing something official as Khaleesi and Queen, she makes sure it’s perfect. She’s pleasantly surprised when you write her something - has she ever actually received something this sweet before? She’ll write you back with a smile on her face, and she likes any chance to use that fancy Targaryen seal. Dany will still love to receive and send letters even if you both are staying in a palace together. It’s just one of many romantic gestures she thought she’d never enjoy.
Jorah Mormont
Jorah's handwriting is nice, but he usually writes in haste, so several letters end up smudged. He doesn't like to waste paper and start over. Jorah really can’t believe that you’d send him something romantic and sweet; he tries to hide his grin and blush, but he’ll wear it the whole time he’s reading. When he's writing something really sweet to you, it gets him flustered and happy, so whole words end up smudged. He doesn't notice the ink on his hand until he's already put the letter in the envelope. He keeps whatever you’ve sent him in a protective leather book so they can’t get damaged.
Missandei
She has lovely handwriting in many languages, as she was taught. The neatness of the lines and letters really is impressive. When she's writing something sweet to you, she pauses and struggles with the words for a while. Missandei always has the sweetest, most thoughtful letters - more sentimental than romantic. Her letters are punctuated with citrus smelling paper and a modestly decorated envelope.
Grey Worm
He’s only recently learned to read, and writing is still a struggle - he’d be very intimidated at the idea of writing something to you. When you give him something to read for practice, it takes Grey Worm a few minutes before he realizes it’s something you wrote. And it’s for him! And about him! He’s very happy but also very flustered. It takes him longer to get through it, but he can’t stop smiling all day once he’s done. He aspires to write something just as nice, once he’s practiced more. He’d keep your letters in a safe place, and wouldn’t want anyone else to see them.
Tywin Lannister
His penmanship is near perfect, which you expected. It’s always written in a stark black ink on fine, almost marbled paper that has an equally officially looking gold Lannister seal on the envelope. People whisper it’s liquid gold that seals it, but you know better. Tywin’s letters are for business only, so he doesn’t expect you to send him anything romantic… He wouldn’t know what to do with it, besides read it with some amusement and tuck it away for later. You might think he never read it, until he’ll tease you by quoting it weeks later.
Tyrion Lannister
His handwriting is elegant and flawless, as it was meant to be. When Tyrion’s tired he’ll smudge here and there, and depending on how important the letter is, he’ll start over entirely. When he receives your first letter, he’s surprised by the pretty stationary and envelope - this is for him? - and the contents are even better. Tyrion might have a small mental shutdown if you write him something romantic and kind. He’ll re-read it over and over and be distracted through much of the day. This is really for him? He has to respond, of course, and he’ll do it while his emotions are high. For once he doesn’t think on carefully crafted words, he writes what he feels and picks a more subtle stationary (no giant Lannister seals) so attention isn’t drawn to you.
Jaime Lannister
Gods, he hates writing. Just sitting down to write a report is bad enough, but when it's something important? When it's a response to something lovely you wrote? He struggles. The letters start moving around like they used to, he remembers those awful lessons with his father and he's just put off by the whole thing. Seeing you in person is far better. Jaime's handwriting is neat, because it had to be, though when he's upset he'll write a few letters backwards.
Sandor Clegane
It's a mess. Really, the fact his words are readable is a miracle. 'Chicken scratch' is a generous term, though his name is passable. If you wrote him a letter, he'd have no idea what to do with it, let alone how to respond. Sandor doesn't do sentiment like that; seeing you in person can be conflicting and confusing enough. He'd probably rip it up and burn it after drinking too much (and immediately regret that in the morning).
Bronn
He's barely literate, and not a man of flowery words anyway, so don't respect a response. If anything he'd hand the letter to Tyrion and ask him to read it - only for it to be handed back once Tyrion realized it was very personal and... revealing. Bronn doesn't worry about a response or consider you getting upset about it. If you are, he has ways to make up for it.
Petyr Baelish
You expected him to have neat penmanship, but you didn't expect it to be this nice. And of course, his way with words shows in his letters, but it's even better. You might even blush and have to excuse yourself to read it in private. Petyr loves to write on fancy paper with fancier envelopes that have his sigil, but if they're meant to be secret, the only indicator is a little symbol on the envelope's seal. He delights in anything you send him, especially if he can smell your perfume on it.
Stannis Baratheon
Stannis writes very neat letters with equally impossibly neat rows. He has a habit of gripping his quill too tight, but his letters are concise so his hand doesn’t hurt. While he usually writes quickly because he knows what to say, when he writes to you, he pauses far too often. Sometimes ink drips on the paper while he’s thinking, sometimes he misspells a word he’s never gotten wrong before. It takes a long time, especially if he’s responding to something that was very sweet and romantic. His first letters were very awkward and halting, but they’ve steadily improved. Mostly.
Davos Seaworth
You were the one who helped him with writing, after helping him read as well. Davos isn’t happy with his penmanship, but he didn’t think he’d make it this far, so he keeps trying when he has time. It’s messy but legible enough. Davos is always pleasantly surprised when you write to him; he loves that you took the time to send something so sweet. It’s hard for him to reply efficiently, or to put what he’s thinking into words, so sometimes he’ll wait for you to get back instead. He would use your letters to practice reading… but it gets him terribly flustered to read the same kind things over and over again.
Margaery Tyrell
She doesn't mind taking the extra time to make her letters extra beautiful, to press dried flower petals and put them in the envelope, to look through dozens of stationary to find one that's just right for her mood. For most people, they're lucky to get one of these little rituals - you get all of them. She'd be delighted if you took extra care in your letters, too, and naturally she keeps whatever you send her in a special box (that absolutely no one will find).
Brynden Tully
It's no surprise that his handwriting is simple and gets the job done. His brother used to complain that he wrote like a soldier, not a lord, and Brynden is proud of that. He won't wax poetic to you, but he will plainly state that he misses you and he always writes back promptly. Brynden feels bad that his letters take so long to arrive, so he'll make them longer with funny anecdotes and things he's heard from travellers. He folds his letter a few times and wraps it in a protective parchment, just in case rain comes or some idiot drops it.
Edmure Tully
He writes well enough, with neat letters that are jotted down in haste. Edmure almost never stays and lingers on words and sentences, he just writes what comes to mind and moves on. He’s shocked in a good way when you write something to him - you missed him that much? Enough to write all this? He re-reads it several times, and keeps whatever you send him after that. He’ll eagerly write back, and even if it’s silly and awkwardly worded, you can feel the love in every letter. His letters are often a bit crumpled and are plain except for the Tully seal.
Brienne of Tarth
It might surprise some that she has a lady's penmanship. It was never something Brienne had trouble learning, though she often accidentally broke the quill by holding too hard. Though she cherishes the kind things you send her (and she blushes terribly as she reads them), she struggles to send something in return. Her words fail her and she feels embarrassed for trying, but she does try. Seeing you in person is so much easier, though. She likes to keep your letters in a safe place and read them when she's feeling down.
Ramsay Bolton
The letters are messy, but legible enough. The real issue is all the stains on the paper, usually a combination of mud, blood or water. He has little care for the proper way to write or address others; Roose may have given him the bare minimum and not expected him to actually use it. Ramsay is very surprised and amused by anything you send him, though. He considers writing something back, but decides to wait or just go and see you directly. That’s far more fun.
Roose Bolton
His handwriting is functional and his words are to the point. There's nothing outstanding about the letter or its contents, save for a blood-red Bolton seal on the envelope. Roose rarely sends full letters, though; it's a quick Raven or nothing. Though he won't mind anything you send… he'll be very pleased with how personal they become, and he still won't send anything back right away, if he does at all. Better to keep you in anticipation.
Oberyn Martell
Oberyn has a stylish flourish to his letters that’s unique to him. If that didn’t give it away, the pretty gold ink or embellished envelope will. Often it has the spear as a seal, sometimes it’s some interesting and strange stamp he picked up from his travels. There’s always a slight scent to his letters, and you can’t always place it. The actual words themselves are often scandalous and teasing, though he’s sent plenty of heartfelt things, especially if you enjoy it. He’s no poet, but he’s honest and romantic. Oberyn much prefers to see you in person, but he likes to receive sweet things and re-read them.
Arianne Martell
Her handwriting is beautifully elegant, and she loves getting ahold of pretty colored inks and papers. Her letters straddle a fine line between romantic and a little scandalous, and she likes to use pet names, as if you both are writing in secret. Her envelopes have a pleasant smell, and the official Martell seal. If she wants her letter to be sent especially fast, she’ll take her father’s seal. She keeps anything you send her in a pretty, hand carved wooden box with a lock and key.

Finally Yours (Never Yours Part 2) (Jon Snow x Reader)
MASTERLIST
Part 1
Pairing: Jon Snow x Reader
Word Count: 1440
Warnings: Spoilers for the series finale, some angst, murder mentions
Request: (Part 1) Hi! Can u do a jon snow angsty one where you find out that jon slept with daenerys? you choose how it ends :) thanks! -(Anon) (Part 2) I was wondering if you can do a part two to never yours for Jon snow please? - (Anon)
A/N: I had actually not intended to make a sequel to this one and leave it angsty, but I'm a people pleaser. Plus it still makes me sad thinking about it XD
It had all gone by so quickly, but it felt like an eternity had passed at the same time. One moment you were at a feast celebrating Jon's return with Daenerys, and the next Bran was King, the Night King was dead, and so was Daenerys.
She had turned on her people. Her entire campaign had been forged on the promise of only hurting those who were guilty, but that changed in an instant as she attacked King's Landing. Nobody could have seen it coming.
You had heard rumors of what happened to her at Jon's hands, but you didn't know whether to believe him or not. The last time you had seen Jon, he told you that Dany was his whole world. You knew if the rumors were true, he was a devastated man.
You made your way around the Winterfell, taking in the sights of a people rebuilding as you made your way home. Having always been close to the Starks, Sansa let you live with her in the Inner Castle. She may be fiercely independent, but that did not mean she wanted to live alone. The two of you had grown close as she became Queen of the North. She valued your opinions, and she trusted you more than most other people.
She knew how you felt about Jon, too. Sharing your initial reservations about Daenerys, the two of you had spent many nights complaining about her to each other. During one of these nights you let it slip how jealous you were, not of her power but of her relationship.
-
"What did you just say?" Asked Sansa, looking at you with wide eyes. You froze, knowing your cover had been blown. Yes, you disliked the way that Daenerys carried herself, but you had never told Sansa that you disliked her for other reasons. You had never wanted her to know the feeling you used to, and still, hold for her brother.
"I'm sorry Sansa," you said softly. "I said I didn't like her for taking Jon from me."
To your surprise, Sansa eyed you with a suspicious, yet knowing, smile.
"I called it!" She exclaimed. "I told Arya years ago that you and Jon had a thing but she never believed me."
You chuckled in surprise, thinking she would have been mad. All this time you had hidden this to not hinder your friendship and it was all for nothing.
Sansa continued, "how long had you been together?"
Your smile faded.
"We weren't", you said sadly. "I never told him how I felt, at least not until it was too late and he was already with Daenerys. He told me that he'd had feelings for me too, but they were nothing compared to what he felt with Dany."
Sansa's face filled with sympathy as she looked at you, sorry she had asked such a question.
"I'm sorry," she said. You only nodded in response. Whether it was the memories flooding back or the drinks from that night affecting you, you were having a hard time holding back your tears.
After that night, the two of you talked little about Jon and Daenerys until the Battle of King's Landing. It would have been pretty hard not to talk about all of that chaos.
-
You reached the entrance to the Inner Castle, smiling at the guard as he let you in.
"Lady L/n, nice to see you again."
"It's nice to see you as well, how are the children?" You replied. You made it a point to treat these people as more than servants. He beamed at you.
"Well," he boasted, "my eldest is to be wed soon, and the preparations are all we can ever talk about. He's so excited to have found a love match through all of this."
You offered him a genuine smile, congratulating him as you headed inside.
Typically you found yourself alone at this time of day, with Sansa busy with her Queen duties and the rest of the family having moved away or died in the recent war. You went about your day as normal, setting down your things. What you didn't notice was a familiar silhouette coming down the corridor.
"Y/n?" Asked the voice you had used to yearn to hear. You almost thought you were imagining it, turning to find out that you were in fact wrong. The man was standing across the room, his own flesh and blood. You saw the familiar long locks that you wanted to touch, the strong chest you had always wanted to lay upon.
"Jon?" You whispered. As much as you still wanted to run to him, you hesitated. This was a different man than you had loved. This wasn't your Jon.
He took a couple steps towards you, noticing when you didn't reciprocate the movement.
You eyed him suspiciously, "what are you doing here?"
His face fell when he realized his welcome wasn't as warm as he had hoped. He tried not to let you notice, but you did.
"I'm headed beyond the wall," he tells you. "As punishment for my crimes against Daenerys. I asked if I would be allowed to see you before I go."
Your heart sunk. He was leaving. You had already mourned the loss of your relationship with this man, in a sense already telling him goodbye. Now he was telling you that you would have to say goodbye again.
"So it's true," you said softly. "You killed that woman. The woman you said you loved."
Jon's expression turned to one of pain. He knew you would ask him about his actions, but he was still not prepared with a response.
"Yes." He said, pausing before he went on. "I killed Daenerys. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done, but she murdered all of those civilians, Y/n." Jon's voice was hoarse as he spoke, and you could tell he was holding back tears. "She killed them all."
At his words, you fell back into your old rhythm. You may have been upset at him for how he had spoken to you before, but deep down he was still your friend and he was in pain. You closed the gap between the two of you, pulling him into a hug.
You rested your head on his chest, something that you hadn't done in what felt like forever. You missed the way his heavy coat felt against your cheek, his broad chest underneath. He wrapped his arms around you in return, letting out a sob as he held you tight. He bent his head, resting it on the top of your own head.
You waited for a while, waiting for his breathing to even as you rubbed small patterns on his back. Once it did, you pulled away to look up at him.
"I'm so sorry Jon," you offered. "I truly am."
"As am I." He told you. "I shouldn't have spoken to you that way."
You tried to brush it off, knowing it was no comparison to what he was upset about, but he persisted.
"It was stupid," he continued. "After all those years you finally told me the words I wanted to hear and I shut you down. I let me pride get the better of me, and I wouldn't admit to myself how I really felt."
His big, deep eyes stared into your own. You had almost forgotten the way they made you feel. Your stomach turned to jello as you processed his words.
"What do you mean?" You asked. If he was saying what you thought he was, you needed to make sure there weren't any misunderstandings.
"I lied to you." He admitted. "I knew I wouldn't be able to turn on Dany then, and I had to make you think I was in love with her to keep our alliance. It's always been you."
Before he got the chance to say any more you pressed your lips to his, soft and gentle. His lips were softer than you would have thought, yet still just as rough as you expected. He reciprocated the kiss immediately, moving his hand to the small of your back to pull you closer and deepen it. Despite the circumstances, it was all you had ever wanted.
He pulled away, nearly breathless.
"I love you Y/n L/n, I always have and I always will. Join me. be my Queen beyond the wall."
"I love you too Jon Snow," you smiled, agreeing to his plan. You knew despite everything you had both been through, you made it in the end. He was finally yours.

Tag people you want to get to know better. Thanks for the tag @tridentarius ❤️
Favourite time of the year: It used to be Christmas time. Call me corny but I genuinely love seeing lights everywhere and having a Christmas tree set up in the house. However…not to be overly personal and depressing, but I don’t think I quite feel the same way about Christmas (or just the holidays in general) since my brother died. I always get strongly reminded of his absence, more so than usual :( So nowadays I think it’s probably summer time. I hate cold weather and I live in an area where it gets pretty damn cold in the winter and fall.
Comfort foods: My mom’s spaghetti. It was my favorite meal growing up.
Do you collect anything: Nope. I used to collect elephants though. And I still have a bunch of porcelain elephants, partially because my grandma gave them to me before she passed.
Favourite drinks: Soda. Particularly Pepsi. It’s a horrible addiction that I really need to lay off of tbh
Favorite music artists: I hate music questions because my taste is all over the place. But lately I’ve been digging a lot of stuff from the 70’s and 80’s. Again, call me basic if you want lol
Current favourite songs: See above answer
Favourite fics: 90% of the time I read fic for shippy purposes. So almost all of my faves are romance lol. I’m just going to take a peak at my ao3 bookmarks and list 5, each one for a different ship.
1. A Saint’s Just A Sinner by killingsaray - An AU Villaneve fic with priest! Eve and temptation! Villanelle. Also just all of the Villaneve fics from this author tbh.
2. sideways by whaticameherefor: Gallavich canon divergent fic after/during S6. My favorite of its breed.
3. I’m still here by owedbetter: Zutara canon divergent after The Southern Raiders. Usually post-canon is more my speed for Zutara canon adjacent fics but this one is my biggest exception. It’s so lovely and well-written.
4. a fleeting moment by thchateaus: Daensa (Sansa/Daenerys) fic that is essentially a re-write of S8 of GoT. It pains me to rec anything GoT related but this is one of the more recent fics that I read and it’s so good. It left an impact on me.
5. Strong Enough To Bind by Magnetism_bind: The Black Sails AU where Eleanor doesn’t die and ends with Eleanor/Max/Anne ot3. Aka the Black Sails fic of my dreams lol
favourite video games: I don’t play a lot of video games tbh. I love the Life is Strange franchise even tho it’s very flawed. It was one of my first exposures to gay media when I was coming to terms with my sexuality. I also have a big soft spot for the Fable franchise because I loved it as a kid and it reminds me of my brother. It was one of the things we used to bond over.
I tag: @anniejanuarygf @sonyarebecchi @mrs-n-uzumaki @patrooclus @melroesplace @witch-apologist @dollsome-does-tumblr @whaticameherefor @ecstaticallyelectrifying @tectonicduck
