More flame yarn!!!! Both in the ply and the colors!!! I saw this color batt at the fiber fest and truly could not resist my fire fire aesthetic! This one doesn’t have the beehives of the other but I like it a lot still, the silk adds that shine
Just realizing it looks really stretched out on the bobbin . In the skein, it’s much pretty and more relaxed.

more wips
#wip#fabrication#rug hooking#fiber art#artists on tumblr#yarn's pretty uniform at least so far compared to bg#or like not a combo of a bunch of different yarns#plus I think it's sock weight? dk? so how the overall texture/actual loops look together is interesting#I guess for comparison the white yarn is bulky#like from a farther view they kinda blend together#also might take me longer than the other two since the yarn is thinner hshjfg

LET THE CROSS STITCH HIT THE FLOOR
#my art#fiber arts#cross stitch#god I wish I had picked a simpler border this took foreverrrrr#I did take a break for like 2 or 3 months and didn’t work on it as often#but like I literally knit a sweater faster than I stitched this#also credit where credit is due raven came up with my catchy title#I wish I had swapped the light and dark greens also but it’s too late#I learned some bitching new techniques for this and also got a like. round clampy frame rather than a hoop#the big font and the border came from dmc I believe and I think I googled for the words#anyway. I have a really cool pattern that I wanna do but also I think another cross stitch might kill me#or maybe I’d have more fun with it bc it’s a pretty picture

I am quite proud of this stitching line.
I wish they all looked this nice, but in the end they won't even be seen. I will just enjoy the pretty ones while I can.

at about 11” or so, finally can see the pattern really come alive, yet somehow still on the first ball of yarn
#not sure why it’s the never ending ball but it’s good because I’ll hit my 1/3rd goal#this is the baby blanket that’s taking forever already#sadly am also watching HOTD while knitting it#so pretty much all you hear is the writing and season 2…… oof#anyway#and I checked: 207 sts per row#8 rows per repeat#11 repeats#so that makes 18k stitches so far#knitting#fiber arts#knitblr#thoughts? thoughts

as much as i dislike horticulture's reliance on peat in soil mixes, there's yet to be a good alternative for large-scale growing and uhhhh there are no peat bogs in the US. the entirety of our potting soil supply comes from canada. so canadian tariffs are going to cause some big issues for the industry.
#this is a problem the industry has been trying to solve for a while tbh and all the alternatives to peat aren't good#my workplace has tried wood fiber potting mix and also recycled newspaper based potting mix (both which still had peat just less)#both cause nutrient uptake and compaction issues pretty quickly#growing stuff in pots on a large scale is just hard without peat#(small scale gardeners can totally use amended compost to help with nutrition with these alternative soil mixes and i'd encourage it)

once again in my era of late night updates on finishing crafts my grandmother started. more floral motifs. not knitting for once which is funky! needlepoint flower coasters c:
so far I’ve stitched & assembled the holder & finished up details on the daffodils. & now started on the unworked pattern- i think it’s daisies or black eyed susans? it’s late and im not sure
everything else was her work. i just need to make duplicates of everything besides the tulips
#sky dot txt#sky arts#fiber arts#supposed to be a set of 12 and she finished 6 of them#once they’re all done im gonna tackle attempting to whiten some of them#i got one of them to stop being tan with one wash but they were scattered for a while and are lightly stained#pretty sure i can fix it#mostly just want to whiten the whites a lil bit

once again weeping over the lack of food options for my senior dog who benefits from a senior formula per our vet but still maintains a normal activity level and doesn't need or enjoy high fiber content
#at one point she was sick and vet put her on RC fibre response and it damn near took her out#some of these senior foods have fiber content to rival that its#pretty wild#shes on eukanuba senior now and handles it well but the bag is running low and as usual#im treating every purchase for spart like im on who wants to be a millionaire and fresh out of lifelines#monster senior looks interesting. comparable to things shes done well on in the past. and she IS a monster so#might be worth a 2kg bag if i stumble across one before we run out

Okay, I did not expect that video I posted to blow up like it did. Thanks everyone!
There were several people who asked about any books I'd recommend. The following two books were the ones that I learned a majority of my patterns from.
Book #1
More below the cut.
This was the first book I had that my mom got me when I was 11. The directions are clear, easy to follow, and the added illustrations were a huge help. This was where I learned my base 5 patterns; Diagonal,
Chevron,
Diamond,
Lightning,
and Arrowhead.
I didn't learn the more advanced patterns until much later, with the next book.
Book #2
I didn't get this book until my early 20's. It also had clear directions with illustrations and graphs of the patterns to help with the learning process. This was where I learned the more complicated patterns like the Acadian,
Assomption,
and Flame patterns.
I'd recommend these two books for anyone starting out with fingerweaving. I wouldn't be at the skill level I'm at without them.
Anyways, I hope this helps anyone looking to start learning!
