Hayden groaned rubbing her eyes as her alarm went off, she had barely slept at all through night. She hasn’t been sleeping very well since her parents death and sleeping next to one of the boys help a bit but she slept completely alone last night especially as Archie was also not sleeping with her but with Luke.

Hayden knew that it was her first day of senior year but it felt wrong knowing she wouldn’t wake up and her parents aren’t here to see her or make her favorite breakfast. She wouldn’t hear her mother’s laughter before she goes to school or get a warm hug from her father.

She just shut off her alarm and all the ones after it and pulled the blanket over her head.

Ellen frowned as she heard Luke and Jack moving around their rooms but nothing from Hayden which was odd as she is always up before the boys. She knew today is going to be extra hard on Hayden.

Ellen decided to go up to Hayden’s room to see why she isn’t up yet. She opened the door to Hayden’s room and saw her completely under her blankets, “Hay?“ Ellen softly asked as she walked over to the bed not getting anything back from Hayden.

“You have to get up soon.” Ellen softly told Hayden as they would need to leave soon.

Hayden just shook her head under the blanket.

“Hay it’s your first day, you have to get up.” Ellen softly reminded her but Hayden didn’t move.

Ellen let out a small sigh and stood up walking out of the room sure how to get Hayden out of bed.

She knew Quinn was starting his first day today but also knew his class wasn’t until later and she called hoping he could come over and help her hopefully her Hayden out of bed and to school.

Ellen walked down the rest of the stairs and finished making breakfast waiting until Quinn got her.

Quinn walked in twenty minutes later and hugged her really quickly before he jogged up the stairs and headed up to Hayden’s room.

Quinn walked into her room and sat on the bed next to her, “Hi Haydes.” Quinn softly spoke to her making her peak out from under her blanket seeing Quinn sitting right there.

“Quinn.” Hayden mumbled and sat up and immediately leaned on Quinn wrapping her arms around him tightly. She really needed a Quinn hug.

“Hi.” Quinn smiled softly rubbing her back, “I heard you don’t want to get up for school.” Quinn spoke to her softly. Hayden shook her head no.

Quinn just hummed, “Why is that?” Quinn asked her even if he knew why.

“They’re not here.” Hayden mumbled blinking to stop herself from crying, again.

Quinn frowned, “I know.” He understood it was hard for her, he knew it was hard for him too today for his first day of collage knowing they weren’t there to see him off like they are every year.

“You know they would want you to go.” Quinn reminded her softly, he knew how proud Harrison and Maddison always are of Hayden.

“I know.” Hayden mumbled reluctantly agreeing, she just wanted her parents here.

“It’s okay to want them here but they wouldn’t want you to stop your life because of them.” Quinn very gently reminder her, knowing she needed to hear it.

Hayden swallowed and slowly nodded.

“Okay. Why don’t you get dressed okay?” Quinn asked her gently.

Hayden nodded and took a breath and sat back up letting go of Quinn giving him a shaky smile before she got off her bed and headed to her bathroom getting ready for the day.

Hayden came back out in a pair of jeans shorts, a green surf shirt and a pair of white high top converses and she left her hair down for once.

Quinn gave her a reassuring smile and wrapped an arm around her shoulder as they walked out of her room and down the kitchen where Jack and Luke were eating their breakfast.

Jack and Luke both looked up seeing Quinn and they got up giving him quick hugs and they shared a relieved look seeing Hayden up as their mom told them she was having a hard morning.

Ellen let out a sigh of relief seeing Hayden walking into the kitchen and gave a thankful look to her eldest son.

Hayden chewed a few bites of toast and stayed pretty silent as she listened to Jack and Luke yap to Quinn.

Ellen smiled seeing Jack and Luke talking a bit more than they have the last few months and hoped that their family was slowly healing, not saying they don’t still miss Harrison and Maddison like crazy but they couldn’t live in sadness all day forever.

Archie came trotting over to Hayden and rested his head on her leap, Hayden gave him some head scratches as she tried to finish her piece of toast.

“Okay you three let me get your photo and than you guys have got to go.” Ellen came back into the kitchen to tell them.

Hayden nodded and stood up with Jack and Luke. The three all grabbed their backpacks. Hayden’s was all light blue with a little croissant keychain that Matt had got her for her Christmas.

They all walked out side and Hayden stood between Jack and Luke and they smiled at the camera that Ellen was holding.

Ellen told Quinn to stand next to Jack for a picture as well.

Quinn hugged Hayden tightly rubbing her back softly, “You are going to do great okay.” Quinn whispered reassuringly to her.

Hayden nodded softly and gave him a quirk of her lips before she walked down the front steps and got in the car. Jack was in the drivers seat already and Luke in the backseat.

Hayden looked out the window the entire time as Jack drove them to school. She was a bit nervous to see her best friends again as she had completely ghosted them since her parents death and she did not know how they are going to react.

Jack parked the car and shut it off and they all got out of the car.

Luke looked over at Hayden not wanting to leave her, Hayden nodded at him reassuringly and ruffled his curls. Luke nodded and waved at the two as he walked away and to his class.

Hayden took a deep breath and stood close to Jack as they walked into school and to their lockers. She clenched her jaw trying to ignore the stares and whispers she is getting, she has always been stared at because of her father but now it’s because her parents are dead.

Hayden bit her lip seeing all of her boys waiting at her and Jack’s lockers.

“They aren’t mad.” Jack quietly whispered reassuring her noticing her nervously look when she saw their friends. Hayden nodded and they walked the rest of the way to their friend.

Cole’s head snapped up seeing the two walking to them, “H!” Cole perked up seeing up. Cole’s word got the attention of the rest of the boys.

“Hi.” Hayden mumbled her eyes flickering nervously at the boys.

Cole didn’t waste a second and lunged forward pulling her into a tight hug. Hayden froze for a second before letting out a sigh of relief and hugging him back.

“I want to hug her too!” Trevor dramatically whined and pushed Cole away and pulled Hayden into a tight hug rocking her back and forth.

“Let me hug her.” Alex grumbled making Trevor slowly release her reluctantly and Alex immediately pulled her into a tight hug.

Hayden hugged both of them just as tightly back.

Matt patiently waited until the other three were done and he pulled Hayden into a soft and comforting hug. He gently rubbed her shoulder and felt her let out a sigh.

Hayden felt the rest of the tension bleed from her shoulders as she hugged Matt softly back.

She pulled back from the hug and looked at her friends, “I’m sorry.” She mumbled to the four, feeling terrible how she had shut them out for months.

“You have nothing to be sorry for.” Matt gently reassured her keeping an arm over her shoulder, he gave her a soft glance and smile.

“We understand.” Cole gave her a comforting smile, none of them were ever mad at her.

Trevor nodded quickly sending her a smile and Alex gave her grin.

Hayden let out a relieved sigh and nodded at her best friends.

In celebration of David Bowie’s birthday! 👨‍🎤

David Bowie, who was dressed by Thierry Mugler for a number of tours, videos, and events, wore this green wool crepe suit with collarless jacket in the music video for Tin Machine’s “You Belong in Rock ‘n’ Roll.”  

Currently on display in Thierry Mugler: Couturissime, this minimalist jacket was originally part of the “Les Cow-boys” Spring/Summer 1992 pret-a-porter collection. However, this is not the first time this design has been displayed at the Brooklyn Museum. Visitors to “David Bowie is” may remember seeing the suit as one of the roughly 400 works presented from the David Bowie Archive. In that 2018 exhibition, the suit was shown with a t-shirt which said, “F*ck You I ❤️ Tin Machine,” which was a response to the many who questioned his being a member of a band after being a successful solo artist for so many years.  

In addition to the green suit in the “Thierry Mugler” exhibition, we are also displaying a dress from Mugler’s 1979-80 “Spirale Futuriste” collection, that Bowie wore in the music video for “Boys Keep Swinging” (1979), which was filmed in February. In December of that year, Bowie performed “Man Who Owned the World” on Saturday Night Live with back-up singers Joey Arias and Klaus Nomi, who both wore Mugler dresses, featuring his signature padded shoulders.

   A pandemia que vivenciamos atualmente alterou de forma drástica o dia-a-dia de cada um de nós. As rotinas que, de uma forma inevitável, se tinham tornado parte intrínseca da realidade que conhecemos, sucumbiram para dar lugar a um mundo novo, inesperado e pouco ou nada familiar. A agitação exterior foi simplesmente restringida à nossa casa, ao nosso pequeno espaço isolado onde refletimos cada vez mais. 

  Assim, a relação que estabelecemos também com os nossos próprios pertences vai-se alterando gradualmente, uma vez que o contexto atual impõe novas necessidades. Não existe, portanto, a obrigação de nos vestirmos para ir à rua e realizar determinada tarefa, e a ideia de imprescindibilidade começa a desvanecer. Ora, isto leva-nos a questionar a utilidade das peças físicas, por consequência. Se a deslocação a certa loja de roupa não é possível, impossibilitando-nos de  comprar presencialmente ou de ver, diante dos nossos olhos, as coleções atuais, a busca de soluções que resolvam esta questão é quase imposta.

I know you weren’t here but do you think those pictures taken of Kate shopping back in December 23rd, 2018 were staged to make her look relatable? Some people say yes but I’m inclined to believe no because 1. They were taken on a phone 2. The kids were there and there’s one photo where it’s clearly cut from the waist down signaling the kids were in it. I would think the kids would be in it if it was set up.

I’d love to think they were set up because it would be such a glorious diss toward Meghan, but I doubt it. The Sun even got an interview with the mum who took the pics.

I admit, whenever a new Kate candid comes out, I always wonder if it was set up. I can't find a common pap or publication as with Meghan, and most of the articles include interviews with the regular people who took the pics. However,  there’s just such a gloriously bitchy timing streak about them--the train pic with the old polly bag right after the facial pap walk, the cheap Zara coat at the Nutcracker after the $75k engagement pics, doing the school run after Meghan went to Monaco, the Zara summer dresses just as Meghan was hitting the Givenchy, the drive into BP just as Meghan was exiled to Windsor, the budget shopping spree just as Meghan’s clothes bill was hitting headlines...

I’d love to believe that Kate is low-key trolling Meghan, but she’s likely just living her life as a highly recognizable public figure. 

However, if Kate is setting up these pics, she’s an absolute freaking genius and I want to see what she does to counteract Meg’s new pap walk. Fish and chips with George at the Natural History Museum? Pret-a-Manger run with Tash?

Ace designer and Bollywood’s darling – Kunal Rawal speaks to Luxurylaunches

From his famous clothing line Distress to his collaboration with Koovs and his Lakme Fashion Week stint in 2017, it’s hard to say for sure how many ventures Kunal Rawal has dipped his toes in. Kunal began his career with his first store Distress with a youthful men’s contemporary line. From the beginning, he proved his flair for fashion and design in a space already budding with amateur and established designers. After working his way up in the fashion industry, he debuted his collection at the prominent Lakme Fashion Week in 2017 and recently partnered with Koovs for a pret collection. Kunal’s line is built on the principles of versatility and the intriguing complexity of garment structures. Read on as Kunal Rawal sheds some light on his career and gives aspiring designers his best advice for making it in the industry.

LL – When did you first realize you wanted to pursue a career as a designer?

Kunal Rawal – As long as I can remember, I’ve always looked up to my dad; he’s always been my style inspiration. Before I knew it his aesthetic got engraved into my fashion sensibilities.

I definitely made some questionable choices as a kid; I experimented with hair extensions, braided hair. I’ve been all around the spectrum and back. My dad had an export house; my sister and I would accompany him to the factory often. I so vividly remember one room, which was full of different fabrics, just layers and layers of it, we used to jump around and play this game where used to try to guess the fabric by only touch and feel. I have been around clothes and fabrics since I can remember, which gravitated evoked an interest in fashion at an early age and very naturally gravitated towards fashion designing from then on.

From your first venture in 2006 to the runway in 2017 and 2018, describe your journey from Dstress to Lakme Fashion Week? I started Dstress as a youthful men’s contemporary wear label. Parallel to Dstress, I also forayed into costume designing for several prominent personalities in the Hindi film industry. The ’next step’ to this journey was to create an ethnic-evening wear collection for the modern Indian man. I started Kunal Rawal Label in 2017 as a luxury Indian contemporary brand. Which has become popular for its non-conformist and multi-functional approach towards design; the brand speaks volumes for its cultivated imperfection and unconventional aesthetic while being deeply rooted in its Indian culture. With Lakme Fashion Week since 2017 celebrities like Anil Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Siddharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, Prateik Babbar have closed the show for the label Kunal Rawal. The brand has not only been worn by most A-listers in India but also the likes of artist Pharrell Williams, comedian Hasan Minhaj, designer Michael Russo, Edouard Guerrand Hermès of Hermès, Senior VP at Apple Eddy Cue, BOF Founder Imran Ahmed and many more

What is the inspiration behind your “Winter Perspective” collection at LFW 2018?

‘Winter Perspective’ is visualized as a mirror of chaos that can have numerous unique point of views. With an anti-trend approach and multi-functional designs, Kunal’s motive is to let the collection be uniquely adapted and expressed individually by way of style exploration. The collection brings out the true essence of the notion that’s there’s always more than meets the eye.

How would you depict the modern Indian man? Men are more aware of their body types and the trends prevailing globally. They are well researched and hence aware of the options available in the market. They are taking an informed decision on what they like to wear and what’s actually them. They show more interest in the process considering they are more involved and have the decision making power.

Moving on in terms of trends we see more of tone on tone and modern silhouettes and patterns working for men these days.

What is the common mistake men make when curating their looks? I feel aping trends blindly. Not dressing according to one’s personal style and keeping one’s body type in mind are mistakes people make while curating their looks.
