"Chinese Speakers Appeal for Help," Regina Leader-Post. August 9, 1943. Page 3. --- Three service clubs in the city learned something about the Chinese from the Chinese on Monday at luncheon meetings.
David Yee addressed the Rotarians, Regis Bing-Woo was guest of the Kiwanis club, while the Lions club heard Miss Isobel Bing-Woo.
All three speakers stressed the need for aid to China, and touched briefly on conditions to their own knowledge in various parts of their native land. They also thanked Canadians, on behalf of their countrymen, for past and future aid.
Scouts Help The Boy Scouts lent a hand Friday and Saturday in distributing 250 posters throughout the business section of the city. A. T. Hunter has taken on the job of supplying the postmasters, merchants and branches of the Canadian Legion in the rural sections of the unit with the same posters and promotion material.
Tuesday night CKCK will feature a half-hour transcription program dedicated to the Chinese War Relief fund. The program is to commence at 7 p.m. There will be similar shorter programs every Friday, from Aug. 13 to the end of the campaign month of 15-minute duration, from 6:30 to 6:45. Scripts have a definite Chinese appeal and come from the authoritative pens of such notables as Pearl Buck, Horace Brown and Charles Martin. Screen and stage stars will enact the poignant themes and Lynne Fontanne and John Garfield are only two of the many stars featured.
H. G. L. Strange, director of the research department of the Searle Grain Co. in Winnipeg and well known in this city, recently commented on the worthiness of the fund.
Said Mr. Strange: "Our gallant allies, the Chinese people, badly need help. For six long years China has been holding in check the greater part of the military strength of Japan. China has lost more men in killed and wounded in this war than all the other Allied nations, including Russia, put together. The Chinese, by fighting Janan, are defending Canada today just as truly as though they were fighting in Canada with us, but our gallant, patient and courageous friends now need help.
Pitiful "Their condition is pitiful. They need medical supplies and comforts. They need food for the millions of refugees who have escaped from Japanese-occupied territory into Free China, and, to add to their plight, China is now suffering over a large area from a severe drought, which is bringing famine and untold miseries in its wake.
"It takes money to buy the things the Chinese people so urgently need, so they are appealing to the Canadian people for help through the Chinese War Relief fund. It is one of the worthiest appeals ever made to Canadian people. The smallest sum will be gratefully accepted. Let each of us, therefore, give as generously to this fund as he can afford to. As little as one dollar will help to save a life."
The public are reminded that all donations will be accepted by any chartered bank in Regina, or may be addressed to the Chinese War Relief fund, Regina. All donations over $10 will be acknowledged by The Leader-Post.

I cant stop thinking about Eren being desperate for you 24/7...
This man is so whipped for you, its actually comical.
He's constantly asking if he can put his dick in you for a little bit. He doesn't even care if you guys are actually fucking he just likes the intimacy.
He gives absolutely zero fucks about what you two are doing or where you are.
"Baby, let me stuff your pussy while you do your make-up please?"
"Come sit on my cock while I play this game."
Like just imagine...
You're on your bed laying on your stomach just minding your business, trying to take a nap, when you hear him come in. There's a few moments of silence until you feel him strip your yoga pants and panties down to rest under the swell of your ass. In your half asleep dreamy haze you feel him spread your ass open wide which makes you stir
"Shhh, just go back to sleep." You feel him stroke your hair lovingly and slip two fingers into your waiting cunt. You whine and whimper as you grow needier. A quiet whisper "Fuckkkk yesss" can be heard as his long and thick veiny cock sinks into you so deep making you feel so amazingly full as usual.
Don't even get me started on how he gets so horny for you doing mundane tasks
"Lift your skirt for me, please." Missing the questioning tone and sounding more like a demand.
"WE'RE IN A FUCKING GROCERY STORE!"
"So? No one's gonna see, I promise." You didn't even get a chance to reply before he has your skirt in hand. Pulling your panties to the side and thrusting himself violently inside you, bottoming out. You choke out a gasp at being fully impaled on him so suddenly. He kisses your temple when he hears you hiss and whimper as tears start to sting your eyes from the stretch with no prep. You shiver as you hear him mumble a soft "Such a good little whore for me," with a sigh of content in your ear. He starts moving in and out of you slowly, only stopping when another person walks into the aisle.
He let's your skirt hang around you as normally as possible, while he goes in as deep as he can and stills. Grabbing something off the shelves and putting in infront of you as if you both were reading the label. His jacket covering both your sides from view while the cart blocks your front.
The man walks past you both and leaves the aisle, without missing a beat Eren starts pounding into you again. "See, no one will know. So just be a good slut for me while I use this pussy to jerk off my fat cock, yeah?" He ended up cumming deep inside you, making both of you moan louder than you should. He pulled out and tucked himself back in his jeans pulling your panties back into place. He cups your pussy pressing his fingers on top of the cotton, and rubbed rough circles onto your fucked out hole. "Keep all of it inside, baby. We don't want people to ask questions if it starts to drip onto the floor."
How he'd just walk up to you on the couch and spread your legs while you watched you favorite show. He is very happy to see his personal fucktoy so ready for him, splayed out on the couch naked. Wordlessly laying between your thighs, taking his time to eat you out hard bringing you to atleast 3 orgasms before sitting up and sinking his cock into your needy pussy.
He whines so loud and deliciously as he buries himself to the base. He lifts your legs and pushes them to your chest, allowing him to go impossibly deeper. The scream that you let out when he starting roughly humping into you was enough to turn him into an absolute mess. He starts POUNDING that pussy so hard that he barley notices the bulge that forms in your lower belly.
But when he does tho.... he goes absolutely feral with the sight of his cockhead poking out under your skin just bellow your belly button.
He forgot what it even feels like to cum anywhere besides your wet and warm holes. Like this man straight up refuses to cum if he can't stuff it deep inside you one way or another. Even if you ask him to cum somewhere else he only agrees if he can push it into you with his fingers afterwards.
This man's moans, whimpers and whines are fucking immaculate. He is so vocal and absolutely unafraid about being heard, he is so pussy whipped he couldn't care any less if he was being too loud.
In conclusion this man has me by the neck and the pussy. I just know he's packing ONG!😫

It's interesting that when Keeley is telling Ted about the implications of that photo of him and her leaking to The Sun, she says "Jamie is going to go mental" but it's not followed up with "he's going to think i cheated on him" or "he's going to break up with me" or "it's going to ruin our relationship" it's instead followed up by, "there's going to be photographers all over us!" And later when she's talking to Rebecca it's, "My god, Jamie would've been so pissed off with reporters poking around in our love life." There's something to be said for like, she never once expresses doubt that Jamie won't hear her out on the truth or believe what she tells him. The major focus of her concern is just keeping their business out of the press. Their relationship in season one is far from perfect but there's a lot of implicit trust between them.

"PREMIER RUNS PRESS RAGGED BY SPEED IN WAR FIRM TOUR," Toronto Star. October 10, 1942. Page 8. --- Mr. King Sees Everything in Huge Machine-Gun Plant --- LAUDS GIRLS' PART ---- Prime Minister King is in good condition physically. He must be. For after a lightning tour of the big John Inglis plant Friday, he left" a party of newspaper reporters and photographers gasping. He climbed stairs and walked down stairs rapidly. He walked briskly down long buildings, buildings as long and as wide as a football field. He walked through long yards. The newspaper group, at the conclusion of the tour of the empire's biggest machine-gun factory, promptly looked for places to sit down and get a rest.
With A. L. Ainsworth. vice-president. Mr. King walked through the marine engine plant, seeing the raw product and finally the finished en- cine intended for one of Canada's naval vessels, He saw thousands of men and girls working on machine- guns and clips. then climbed into " basement room where women were firing guns. He took a peek through the telescope which "spots" for Bren guns. He did not fire a gun, though, since work went on steadily all through the tour.
Crossing from one plant to another, a sergeant of the Inglis security guard stood directly in front the prime minister. "Where's your pass?" he asked. Mr. King stopped for a second and then the sergeant stepped aside at Mr. Ainsworth's wave.
At the foot of a flight of stairs, where there was barely room for two people to pass, a man was standing. King stopped. "What's your name?" he asked. The man replied with. "What's yours?"
"W. L King is my name," the prime minister replied. shaking hands and laughing heartily. Delighted with Production He stopped several times to chat with both men and women employees of the plant, telling them they had a grave responsibility and declaring he was delighted with the production figures. He inspected plant charts which showed absenteeism and said he was greatly impressed with the plant.
"I am surprised to see the large propertion of women workers," said Mr. King as he emerged from his whirlwind trip. "Our Canadian women are not idle. They realize that we are fighting for freedom. I noticed, too, how efficient the women are and how clever they are at their intricate machine work. I haven't been here for some time and therefore its a real surprise to see how the women have taken over so many jobs that the men were doing. It's a splendid work they are doing and they are all so happy at their jobs. They were all smiling I noticed, too."
The first stop that the prime minister made was at a table where a middle-aged woman was testing gun barrels.
"He asked me what I was doing. so I explained the job to him," she said. "Did you know who he was?" "Why, of course, I did!"
Irma Larsen. the first girl employed at the Inglis plant following the declaration of war, received special attention from Mr. King. "How do you like being in charge. of so many ladies he queried, stepping into the noisy little office, in the centre of the plant. "It's the best," said Miss Larsen, with a wide smile. "It's tops."
"Doing Great Work" The prime minister laughed and said to Miss Larsen. "That's great. Please give my best wishes to everybody in the plant. They are doing great war work."
"Til tell them," promised Miss Larsen.
Driver Phyllis Morrow, smart in her chauffeur's uniform, stood stiffly at attention when the official party came out of the gates to the prime minister's car. He stepped over to the pretty girl.
"I am impressed with the work the girls are doing at this plant."
Mr. King said, adding, "Have your any relatives overseas?"
"Yes, sir," Driver Phyllis replied, "a brother, Bud Morrow. He is in the Canadian Signal Corps."
"How do you like your job, and what are your duties?" "I like this job fine," Miss Morrow answered. "I drive cars and guide important people through the plant."
A driller, Gladys Morton, told the Premier that she has been on the job 10 months. "I am simply doing my duty," she insisted, at which the premier said, "Good girl."
Women particularly paid keen attention to the visit of the prime minister. And every feminine face wore a wide smile, and Mr. King returned them all with a nod and a wave of his hat. Photon caption:

Italy: Public service RAI becomes a “megaphone” of the government
Public service broadcaster RAI has decided to grant ministers and undersecretaries unrestricted airtime on its programs when referring to institutional matters. On 11 April, journalists and news hosts on the main channels of RAI interrupted news programs to read a statement from the Rai Union of Journalists (USIGRai) statement explaining RAI’s new policy, and condemning it, comparing RAI to the government’s “megaphone”. The International and European Federations of Journalists (IFJ-EFJ) together with their affiliate the Federazione Nazionale Stampa Italiana (FNSI) condemn this further attempt to politicise public information services for propaganda purposes and demand that RAI respects fundamental journalistic principles.
“The government majority has decided to transform RAI into its own megaphone,” so began the speech of USIGrai journalists in the aftermath of the policies announced by RAI’s Supervisory Commission. This approved a rule allowing government representatives to “speak in talks without time constraints and cross-examination”.
The statement continued: “This is not our idea of public service broadcasting. Journalists’ work should be central, where they ask questions, even uncomfortable ones, verify what has been said, and point out inconsistencies. For this reason, dear viewers, we inform you that we are ready to mobilise to guarantee you independent, balanced and plural information."
Another rule will allow Rai News to broadcast political rallies at any time, and in full, announced only by a short introduction and without journalistic mediation
RAI’s decision illustrates once again Italy’s government's attempts to make use of public service for personal and propagandistic purposes, and in contravention of the main pillars of journalists' work.
President of FNSI, Vittorio di Trapanisaid: “RAI News risks becoming a deluge of electoral rallies, trampling on the editorial autonomy of its journalists and its editorial team.”
The IFJ/EFJ stated: “We stand in full solidarity with RAI journalists, whose press freedom and ethical principles are being undermined by the Italian government. We remind RAI of its need to respect fundamental journalistic principles as they are stated in the IFJ Global Charter of Ethics for journalists. We ask the Supervisory Commission to review its decision and to allow transparent and pluralistic information in compliance with the principles of cross-examination and the public interest.”l

Vermont has become the first state to enact a law requiring fossil fuel companies to pay a share of the damage caused by climate change after the state suffered catastrophic summer flooding and damage from other extreme weather.
Republican Gov. Phil Scott allowed the bill to become law without his signature late Thursday, saying he is very concerned about the costs and outcome of the small state taking on “Big Oil” alone in what will likely be a grueling legal fight. But he acknowledged that he understands something has to be done to address the toll of climate change.
“I understand the desire to seek funding to mitigate the effects of climate change that has hurt our state in so many ways,” Scott, a moderate Republican in the largely blue state of Vermont, wrote in a letter to lawmakers.
The popular governor who recently announced that he’s running for reelection to a fifth two-year term, has been at odds with the Democrat-controlled Legislature, which he has called out of balance. He was expected by environmental advocates to veto the bill but then allowed it to be enacted. Scott wrote to lawmakers that he was comforted that the Agency of Natural Resources is required to report back to the Legislature on the feasibility of the effort.
Last July’s flooding from torrential rains inundated Vermont’s capital city of Montpelier, the nearby city Barre, some southern Vermont communities and ripped through homes and washed away roads around the rural state. Some saw it as the state’s worst natural disaster since a 1927 flood that killed dozens of people and caused widespread destruction. It took months for businesses — from restaurants to shops — to rebuild, losing out on their summer and even fall seasons. Several have just recently reopened while scores of homeowners were left with flood-ravaged homes heading into the cold season.
Under the legislation, the Vermont state treasurer, in consultation with the Agency of Natural Resources, would provide a report by Jan. 15, 2026, on the total cost to Vermonters and the state from the emission of greenhouse gases from Jan. 1, 1995, to Dec. 31, 2024. The assessment would look at the effects on public health, natural resources, agriculture, economic development, housing and other areas. The state would use federal data to determine the amount of covered greenhouse gas emissions attributed to a fossil fuel company.
It’s a polluter-pays model affecting companies engaged in the trade or business of extracting fossil fuel or refining crude oil attributable to more than 1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions during the time period. The funds could be used by the state for such things as upgrading stormwater drainage systems; upgrading roads, bridges and railroads; relocating, elevating or retrofitting sewage treatment plants; and making energy efficient weatherization upgrades to public and private buildings. It’s modeled after the federal Superfund pollution cleanup program.
“For too long, giant fossil fuel companies have knowingly lit the match of climate disruption without being required to do a thing to put out the fire,” Paul Burns, executive director of the Vermont Public Interest Research Group, said in a statement. “Finally, maybe for the first time anywhere, Vermont is going to hold the companies most responsible for climate-driven floods, fires and heat waves financially accountable for a fair share of the damages they’ve caused.”
Maryland, Massachusetts and New York are considering similar measures.
The American Petroleum Institute, the top lobbying group for the oil and gas industry, has said it’s extremely concerned the legislation “retroactively imposes costs and liability on prior activities that were legal, violates equal protection and due process rights by holding companies responsible for the actions of society at large; and is preempted by federal law.”
“This punitive new fee represents yet another step in a coordinated campaign to undermine America’s energy advantage and the economic and national security benefits it provides,” spokesman Scott Lauermann said in a statement Friday.
Vermont lawmakers know the state will face legal challenges, but the governor worries about the costs and what it means for other states if Vermont fails.
State Rep. Martin LaLonde, a Democrat and an attorney, believes Vermont has a solid legal case. Legislators worked closely with many legal scholars in crafting the bill, he said in statement.
“Most importantly, the stakes are too high – and the costs too steep for Vermonters – to release corporations that caused the mess from their obligation to help clean it up,” he said.
