Y’all, the Archive admins are made up of VOLUNTEERS. And they have been working for 12-13 HOURS STRAIGHT.
I better not hear any complaints when donation period comes around. OR ELSE.
cosplay by @woahchriswoah on Twitter
EDIT: How do we show appreciation to the volunteers? For me reading these deep dives on OTW issues u guys apparently it's been said multiple times that one of their objective statements is to have paid staff for ao3 and there's a surplus of donations they haven't used up or the other community solutions that needs to address. For those more financially literate feel free to analyze, snipe me or add to the discussion etc. linked here by deepa. They’re cool and these yearly analysis they did aint no joke.
But Seriously what can we do for these volunteers? The probable burn out from this entire fiasco would be no joke. @ao3org
#can we give them hot cocoa or smth#sorry if the org is so pressed rn#but gotta psa some of these issues while the iron is hot#and post is gaining traction#DDoS is over for AO3 but now it’s targeting other NGOs related to OTW org it’s despicable#EDIT 2: AO3 is Back :3#EDIT: WE ARE PAST 24 HRS BUCKLE UP FOR A LONG RIDE#no devil works harder than ao3 volunteers#archive of our own#ao3#ao3 update#btw yall know I’m not forcing anyone to donate right?#i mostly made this to the regular karens who bash the archive anytime they ask for donation#ddos attack#hackers#fanfic#fanfiction#fandom#spn#supernatural#tags to better circulate this news#destiel#lol#hobie brown#spider punk#spiderverse#no hate

Lovely to see this. Couldn't believe it when Jane posted it - I was like - I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE - WHY???? She's great at picking up things so do follow her if you are on Twitter. [I refuse to call it that letter between 'w' and 'y' coz of that wanker Musk]
This is the week of unseen gems! My goode friends on Twitter (see credits below) shared this lovely interview of Matthew for Vogue in 2021, with a gorgeous photograph by Paul Wetherell.
Here are all the quotes for those who need a translation:
Interviewer:
"Zany and self-effacing, Matthew Goode is a world away from the dandies and playboys he seems to portray."
He is "charmingly neurotic in ways his roguish roles don't prepare you for."
Matthew:
"It takes an awfully long time to recover [from seeing himself on screen]."
Reviews tend to be painful "because people can write about you however they want."
He was "thrust on the stage as a singing mouse" by his mum.
"I am coming to really enjoy having Keira [Knightley] as my wife on screen."
His wife and his young kids have been his priority: "I just don't want to be away from them. I have turned down a lot over the years."
He loves to "forge greater relationships with fascinating people."
Matthew has found his groove and is now looking to write and direct too: "You hit 43 and think it's about time you got some confidence inside this hollow body." "These last 10 jobs, I have absolutely re-fallen in love with it."
OMG that last tidbit is so exciting - I would love to hear Matthew's own voice as a writer/director.
📷 Photograph by Paul Wetherell and article by Amel Mukhtar for Vogue UK, Dec 21.
A big thank you to JaneAndrew60 on Twitter for sharing this gem and to CookieCat2017 for procuring me a digital copy. Goode fans are honestly the best!

If you haven't heard, otw (in other words ao3) have forced a volunteer to resign because they had "from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" as their status on messaging platfrom slack, which otw use for communications.
They were denying that Israel is an apartheid settler state or that the genocide in Gaza is even happening.
This is unforgivable in my opinion, and I have sent a message to otw through their official contact form here, and I suggest you do the same. Below you'll see my message as well, in case you want to copy and paste, or just use it as a template of sorts.
I urge you also not to donate to otw anymore, unless the zionist volunteers and members of otw are removed from their positions and banned from otw.
"I am disgusted and enraged about the treatment of otw volunteer bjorn due to their pro-Palestine message status on slack, and even more so about the fact that zionists are allowed to run free amongst otw/ao3 volunteers, claiming that what Israel is doing in Gaza is not genocide, and claiming that Israel is not an apartheid settler state. As a person who has donated to the otw many times i wish I could revoke my money. But also as a donor I as well as many others demand the otw to resign fully, ban all zionist volunteers, have a written apology to bjorn and all users repudiating zionist actions in Gaza, donate to the Red Crescent to support Palestine, and reinstate bjorn as volunteer. If this is not done I as well as many others will no longer post on ao3, use it, volunteer for it and definitely not donate any more. You should be ashamed of yourselves. "
From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free. 🇵🇸
PS. If anyone decides to start talking about ao3 tagging systems or content allowed on the platform on this post you are getting blocked immediately. I dont care about your views on this, and you should think for 2 seconds before putting silly fanfic discourse on the same level as the murder of thousands.

Have you ever wanted to find your old Ao3 comments? Easily keep track of which (and how many) fics you've commented on? Rediscover a fic that you left a time capsule of a gushing essay on?
Well, you can! And it's simple! (* Note: it only works for comments written after you turn this on.)
Go to your Preferences:
There's a checkbox labelled "Turn off copies of your own comments". This is selected by default. If you deselect it (and save your preferences) then you receive an email for every comment you leave.
But I don't want to get my inbox flooded by Ao3!
Understandable! Luckily, most email clients allow you to set up rules for incoming mail depending on their sender and contents. For instance (using Gmail), I've made it so that these emails skip the inbox, are marked as read, and moved to a label I call my "Comment Collection".
The result? A complete, organised and fully-searchable repository of any comments you leave from this point onwards! Search by fic name, author, date, that one sentence you vividly remember leaving!
I've set up other rules, too, like starring emails that are replies to my comments - I'm always excited to receive them!
I love this system, and I think it's motivated me to leave more comments. I hope that others find it useful too. Happy commenting!
Original preferences trick from this Reddit thread. Tagging @justleaveacommentfest, which motivated me to write this post!
#archive of our own#ao3#fanfiction#fanfic#reference#comment comment comment guys! short or long! it's fun for you AND the authors!#i only set this up like three months ago and it's already paying off#for my older reading history i only have the comments that authors have replied to#also i wrote out this post like three times pressed CTRL-Z or something and nuked the entire thing. whoops that's why you use drafts#just leave a comment fest#// tikposting

[ID: Two digital drawings of Tim Stoker and Sasha James on white backgrounds. The first image is of Tim, a mid-sized Latino man with light brown skin, graying brown hair in a mullet style, a small goatee and body hair, and he is wearing a partly unbuttoned purple striped button-down, a long aqua cardigan, black trousers and shoes, black plug gauges and rectangular glasses. He is standing neutrally and smiling calmly with his hands in his cardigan pockets. He is outlined in a soft blue.
The second image is of Sasha, a mid-sized Afro-Latina woman with light brown skin, freckles, and long curly black hair. She is wearing red lipstick and nail polish, a yellow shirt with an orange cardigan, a red skirt, bright green tights, a bright green choker and matching belt with an orange buckle, orange shoes, big round yellow earrings and matching beaded bracelets, and cat-eye glasses. She is standing with her hands on her hips, smiling. She is outlined in green. end ID]

⬆️ Great interview with Matthew. "My God, that's brave, especially in March." = hilarious. Oh his poor knee! Well that explains his absence over the last few months - good thing it wasn't repaired during ADOW filming coz ... Matthew Clairmont ... in shorts hahahahah
https://www.welt.de/iconist/mode/article247930494/Matthew-Goode-ueber-Maennermode-Der-moderne-Gentleman-will-nicht-bequem-sein.html
Google translation of German article.
On screen, actor Matthew Goode often slips into neat men's clothing. In his private life, he also thinks more of tweed and pinstripes than jersey and hoods. But how do old clothing standards become contemporary for modern men? A conversation.
Fans of the Windsor knot can dab a tear of relief with their pocket square: "Dressing smart doesn't go out of style," says actor Matthew Goode, who regularly slips into tailored suits for his roles. In the Netflix series "The Crown", the 45-year-old, as Princess Margaret's husband Antony Armstrong-Jones, wears black suits with notched lapels - Chelsea boots, rolled-up sleeves and a loosened skinny tie when he is not visiting Buckingham Palace. In “Downtown Abbey” you see him as racing driver Henry Talbot, who stubbornly fights for the love of Lady Mary Crawley in the classic three-piece suit in earth tones or in a tailcoat with a white bow tie.
Although sweatpants and hoodies dominated men's fashion last year, the suit is a survivor, as seen at this summer's Paris men's shows. Giorgio Armani showed jackets with low shoulders, Dior double-breasted coats and suits in cream colors, with the shirt not tucked into the trousers - this is how old clothing norms are modified and made fit for the present. The basic idea is that the stylish gentleman is not a discontinued model - as long as he keeps up with the times. This is how Goode sees himself, who is the face of the new campaign for the British men's tailor Hackett London. Via video call from his couch, he tells us what today's stylish man looks like - for once, not in chic evening wear, but in a cozy Troyer knit sweater.
Talk about modern man
The suit is perhaps one of many men's costumes, says Adriano Sack. Gerhard Elfers defends the style and seriousness of the classic combination with a draw
PROS AND CONS
Is it silly for men to dress well?
WORLD: For many of your roles you slip into a classic suit. The characters you portray are often set in a historical time - how can elegant men's wardrobe become more modern.
Matthew Goode: The nice thing about suits is that they give you a different attitude. When I wear a suit with a white tie and tailcoat, my upper body automatically straightens and I move differently. It makes me feel like I'm in an old portrait in the National Gallery in London, which is very useful for developing my characters. Today's youth have become brave. Timothée Chalamet, for example, wears a suit without a shirt underneath and with a bare upper body on the red carpet. I always think, "My God, that's brave, especially in March." Still, I wouldn't predict the end of the classic suit just yet. Bill Nighy (the scruffy rock star in “Love Actually”, editor's note) is one of the most elegant men, stylist William Gilchrist is a master of fashion for me. The suit will always remain - it changes from time to time, for example the length of the jacket or the shape of the collar, but the wheel will not be reinvented.
WORLD: It sounds like you prefer the classic suit.
Goode: My style is pretty conservative. I enjoy dressing up - not every day, but when I wear a tailored suit and I haven't gained ten kilos, it gives me confidence.
WORLD: How often do you wear a suit?
Goode: During awards season, this can happen for seven days at a time. But I'm a father of three, and when I'm not working I spend most of my time as a glorified taxi operator or dog walker. So I dress more practically during the week.
WORLD: What does a practically dressed Matthew Goode look like?
Goode: I look like I'm ready for all seasons because I live in England. If I know it's going to be windy, rainy and stormy, I would probably wear ski gear (laughs). Otherwise, I'm a fan of corduroy pants and a nice tweed jacket. I was born in the country, I remain a country bumpkin at heart.

WORLD: Do you wear shorts in summer?
Goode: I'm actually wearing one right now because I had a meniscus repair and because of the huge splint I haven't been able to wear long pants for the past few months.
WORLD: What makes a good suit for you?
Goode: I pay particular attention to the quality of the fabric – and the cut. Suits I bought 20 years ago look boxy. Today they are more tailored to the body. Or I play with the lining of the jacket and the underside of the collar, perhaps with a bolder color. It's the way my wife - she's an interior designer - would design the house: nice, conservative colors and then pops of color through pillows. So my socks could be flashy, but everything else could be reserved. A good tailor can then see how the suit can make even more use of the body shape, for example with shoulder pads it looks like I've been to the gym.
WORLD: A tie with a suit – still mandatory today or already dispensable?
Goode: I still need to build up the confidence to wear scarves and bandanas the way Gilchrist does. Until then, I'll happily put on a tie.
