The people in the top three spots on Forbes' billionaire list—Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg—will have prime seats at President-elect Trump's inauguration next week. NBC News, citing "an official involved with the planning of the event," reports that the three tech billionaires will be sitting together on the platform with other high-profile guests, including Trump's Cabinet nominees. Bezos and Zuckerberg's companies, Amazon and Meta, have each donated $1 million to the inauguration, while Musk spent more than $250 million to help Trump win the election, reports Reuters.

New York Times: Trump paid no income taxes in 10 out of 15 years beginning in 2000 - CNNPolitics

I paid more income tax than he did in 2016, one of the years the NYT is reporting information on. This isn't exactly a scoop — Trump used to brag about not paying income tax (or taxes in general, if he could help it) and this in spite of his valuation by Forbes and others. More-or-less unsubstantiated information about his dealings and taxes (and pee tape) have been floating around for a while but I guess NYT have enough of a complete paper trail to publish a "follow the money" story with veracity. Good reporting, if 5 or 6 years late lol

I seldom reblog the official social media of the sitting president, but he captioned this clip with the all caps word: "FRAUD!" ...but he wants to share that it doesn't make sense to him. This one's interesting; yes, Forbes estimates Trump, etc. at $3.2 billion (2022) -- but Forbes is notoriously "inaccurate" and does have a his own political agenda (which aligned closely witht Rump).

Even Forbes admit their generous valuation is less than Trump family claims. But how much less? Trump, to put a number on it, has consistently very low veracity with a required adjustment of between 10x and 50x -- not 50% like"normal" people might fib: 50x is 5000%. This range works for everything verifiable: number of people at his inauguration -- overstated by 50x. How much money did he get from daddy Fred? -- understated by 50x. The 31-story Trump Park Avenue -- trump only owns a dozen condos and a fraction of the retail ...10x less than you'd assume; NYAG tax evasion lawsuit -- they feel that can prove 10x underreporting/10x "underpayment" of taxes, 1000%!

So, that $3.2b number, which came from a $5b initial claim is likely ±10-50x off after concealed liabilities factored in... I'd guess $500-100 million range (but you could go the other direction!)

I will retract this post if anyone wants to show me where Trump has ever stated a number accurately -- COVID numbers, immigration numbers, budget numbers, Trump Stakes™ sales, number of viewers of The Apprentice, etc.
