7 Funeral Planning Tips Anyone Can Use
Funeral Planning is not something anyone would look forward to. Nevertheless, you will have to deal with this, at some point in your life since death is inevitable.
By planning your own funeral, you will only be making it easier for your family members to handle things when you are gone. If you don’t want to add to their financial stress, you can even buy a final expense plan. There are many insurance companies that sell such plans. You can get in touch with them through final expense leads.
Here are a few things that can help you plan your funeral, while you are still alive:
Understand the Process
Every funeral service involves four aspects – visitation, a funeral ceremony, a committal service, and the funeral reception.
For the visitation, the corpse will have to be prepared and kept in a casket, so that the guests can pay their respects.
The funeral ceremony could be held at a church, graveyard side, or a funeral home. This service will involve some music, singing of hymns, saying a eulogy prayer, and even some reading of religious or literary passages.
If the family plans a committal service they may want to take the corpse to the cemetery, in a vehicle procession, for burial or cremation.
The funeral reception refers to a post-service gathering where people gather to share some memories of the deceased, and support the grieving family.
Now that you know the entire process, you can make your own funeral planning checklist and make some decisions as to how you want your family to bid the final farewell to you.
Make Plans in Advance
Most funeral homes today sell funeral packages, promising better rates if you buy them in advance. You can plan which package you want to buy; but make sure you don’t pay anything in advance.
There is no saying how the situation might change after you pay for your funeral and till your death date. You may be at a far-off place at the time of your death. In such a case there may not be any option to transfer your prepaid funeral plan to another funeral home. Also, in case the funeral home you paid for, closes down before your death, there is no chance of your family getting that money back. Your money would be safer in a bank and might even collect some interest.
You can always save some money in a payable-on-death account, which can be used for your funeral. This way you won’t have to worry even if the funeral package cost goes up at the time of your death. All that you need to do is designate your beneficiary, who will be receiving the amount after your death. There is no minimum amount stipulation for a POD account. At any point of time, you can change your beneficiary or even close your POD account while you are alive.
Alternatively, you can purchase a final expense plan. This would be similar to a whole life insurance plan; but a less expensive one as the death benefit is lower. Also known as burial or funeral insurance, a final expense plan can be bought by anyone who is 50 or older. Apart from your funeral costs, the final expense plan proceeds can be used to cover your medical bills (if any) or pay back the debts you leave behind.
Keep Track of Funeral Costs
In order to save money for your funeral, it becomes important to estimate the average funeral costs. Funeral costs include a lot of things such as:
·   Funeral home rental fees
·   Viewing charges or funeral service fees
·   Transportation charges
·   Burial expenses
·   Cemetery Fees
·   Embalming costs
·   Cremation costs
·   Miscellaneous expenses like flowers, music, etc.
The cremation costs may vary from state to state. You can make an itemized list of these funeral costs and calculate the amount of money needed for your funeral.
Select the Best Funeral Home
There might be many funeral homes to choose from, when planning a funeral service. Check out a few of these before you make your selection. Get quotes and compare them. Some may not reveal the prices right away; but you can insist.
Choose your Funeral Package
See if the funeral homes you visit offer any packages. Find out what all are included in them. If you don’t need some of these items that come with the standard package, you can ask for a customized package. Make sure you know the prices of each and every item that they provide.
For instance, you may not want to buy a casket from the funeral home if it is too expensive. Or you may find it cheaper to buy flowers from your local florist than get them from the funeral home. Find out more ways like this to save money and reduce the burden on your family members.
Join a Memorial Society
Memorial Societies are nonprofit organizations that provide the necessary guidance to plan a funeral. They also have price surveys of various funeral homes situated in the area. If you become a member of one of these, you can even get some discount at your local funeral home. You may have to pay a one-time membership fee; but it will be a nominal amount.
Discuss and Document Your Funeral Plan
Have a discussion with your family members on what type of funeral you may want to have. You may want to write these things down, in case they forget. They may not be able to follow all your instructions to the T; but they will get a fair idea of the kind of funeral you would want. And even if they do miss out on a few things here or there, you sure won’t mind as you won’t be there in person, to monitor them.
The Conclusion
Preplanning your funeral is not something that might excite you. However, it is one thing you do to reduce the financial burden on your family members after you pass away. A clearly documented funeral plan will give them the exact guidelines they need to follow, to bid you the final farewell as per your wish.

The Cost of Cremation In Australia
costs associated can add to the stress on loved ones. With the average cost of a funeral at $8,048 in Australia, this expense is forcing many families to consider alternative options like cremation. Choosing the right services and making careful decisions are essential to ensuring a dignified farewell for loved ones, without placing financial burdens on families.
The average cost of a cremation in Australia is significantly less than that of a burial and can be considerably cheaper when you opt for a direct cremation option. A basic funeral cremation package typically includes transfers into the funeral directors care, a simple coffin or casket and any paperwork required by the Australian Government including a death certificate.
In addition, a simple urn is usually included in the cost of a cremation. More elaborate or decorative urns or those that are plated in precious metal can increase the overall price of a cremation. If you want to have a permanent memorial for your loved one, you may wish to purchase a headstone or plaque, however, you can also choose from a range of memorial gardens and trees, benches and parks where you can scatter your loved ones ashes.
You can also choose to have a green or natural burial which can be significantly cheaper than a traditional burial. This option eliminates the use of a steel casket and allows the body to be buried in one of the dozens of natural burial grounds around Australia. Another option is to be buried on your own land, however, this can involve council fees and is not possible for all properties.
The cost of a cremation can also be affected by the type of service you have, as you may wish to hold a service at the cemetery before or after the ceremony at the crematorium. Alternatively, you can choose to hold the two ceremonies at the same venue and have a dual-service cremation which can be more affordable than a full funeral. Whether you are looking for an affordable cremation or a full-service funeral, funeral directors can provide you with transparent pricing and advice on how to save on costs. The Complete Guide To Funeral Planning
When a loved one passes away, it’s important to make sure their final wishes are being carried out. This will be a difficult time, but with proper funeral planning, it can be made much easier. In this guide, we’ll go over everything you need to know about funeral planning, including prepaid funeral plans and how to choose the best funeral director for your needs.
There are a few key considerations to keep in mind. First, it’s important to consider the cost of the funeral. Funerals can be expensive and at Perth Cremations, we offer a range of funeral services at different price points from low cost and up, so you can choose the option that best fits your needs and budget.
Secondly, considering the wishes of your loved one is a great way to show them honour. This includes any religious or cultural traditions that should be included in the service, as well as any personal preferences that your loved one may have had. It’s important to honour the wishes of the deceased as much as possible, while also taking into account the needs and preferences of the family.
Thirdly, the emotional needs of the family need to be prioritised. Losing a loved one is never easy, thereby providing support and comfort to the family during this difficult time should be a top priority. We provide a range of personalized funeral services to help families say goodbye to their loved one in a way that feels meaningful and special.
At Perth Cremations and Burials, we recommend using the following points as a key guide for your funeral planning process:
1. Start by choosing a funeral director that you trust and feel comfortable with
When it comes to choosing a funeral director, it’s important to do your research and choose a provider that you feel comfortable with. At Perth Cremations, we have an experienced and compassionate team of the best funeral directors in Ballajura and Averley who are committed to providing the highest quality of service to our clients. We take the time to listen to your needs and preferences, and we work with you to create a personalized funeral service that meets your needs and honours the memory of your loved one.
Look for a funeral director that is licensed, experienced and has a good reputation within the community. Consider their location and availability, as well as their service range and associated pricing. We recommend scheduling a consultation with a few different funeral directors so you can make the right decision for you and your family.
2. Select a suitable sendoff for your loved one
At Perth Cremations and Burials, we understand that every family is unique, and we strive to provide personalized and compassionate funeral services that meet your individual needs. We offer a variety of traditional burial packages and cremation services for our clients to choose from. Our burial services include graveside services, traditional funerals and prepaid funeral plans that can be customised to your budget and preferences. Prepaid funeral services have the benefit of taking the burden off the grieving family if paid in advance for yourself, or on behalf of someone else. The cremation services include direct and traditional cremation with a memorial service. Direct cremation is the straightforward and dignified process of cremating a loved one without a funeral service. This is a good option for those who want a more private and dignified farewell at a lower price point.
3. Choose a casket or urn that fits your budget and personal preferences
Depending on your chosen sendoff for your loved one and the package selected, we have a range of options available to make your funeral planning experience as seamless as possible. Our standard size Eton coffins have “drop bar” handles and your choice of either white, jarrah, rosewood or teak. Our standard size Swan coffins are available in white, jarrah or rosewood with “solid grip” handles. The packages available at Perth Cremations and Burials can also include Jarrah Cross Grave Markers and a spray of flowers.
4. Decide on a date and time for the funeral or memorial service
Discussing funeral plans with your family is a very difficult, but important conversation. Once you’re able to decide on these details, Perth Cremations and Burials is here to take care of everything else.
5. Decide if you would like to host a wake after the funeral or memorial service
In addition to the funeral service, many families also choose to hold a wake or gathering to celebrate the life of their loved one. You may choose to hold the wake at a family member’s home, a community center, or a local restaurant or pub. You’ll also need to decide on the timing of the wake, taking into account the schedules and availability of your guests. A wake can provide an opportunity for family and friends to come together to share memories, stories, and support.
In conclusion, funeral planning is an important process that requires careful consideration and attention to detail. By choosing one of our best funeral directors, considering the wishes of the deceased, and taking into account the emotional needs of the family, you can create a meaningful and respectful farewell for your loved one. At Perth Cremations and Burials, we are committed to providing compassionate and personalized funeral services that meet your individual needs and preferences. Contact us today to learn more about our range of funeral services, including prepaid funerals and how we can help you through this difficult time.

A funeral home in El Salvador offers pink coffins with Barbie doll lining.
A funeral home in El Salvador has taken the Barbie doll craze to the extreme by offering pink coffins lined with Barbie doll patterns. All of this is aimed at making you a Barbie doll fan until the day you pass away – and even beyond.
These pink metallic coffins are being sold at the Alpha and Omega Funeral Home in the city of Acajutla, near the Guatemala border. Isaac Villegas, the owner, revealed that he had already introduced the option of pink coffins before the July premiere of the Barbie doll movie. However, the sweeping Barbie frenzy across Latin America convinced him to adorn the interior lining of the coffins with images of the doll. The coffins are also adorned with small white stars.
"I thought, 'We have to go along with this trend,'" Villegas said when discussing the coffins, emphasizing that "it has been a success."
He mentioned that the funeral home has run promotions around Barbie doll boxes and has already sold ten of them. Though this doesn't necessarily mean that ten individuals have been buried in them, many people in El Salvador opt for prepaid burial packages for the future.
Villegas shared that until a year ago, families preferred traditional coffin colors such as brown, black, white, or gray. However, a year ago, he sold his first pink coffin to a family who wanted their dearly departed relative to rest in a happier-colored casket.
He has no plans to turn back now, even though he still offers deeper colors. "We will have more pink coffins because people need them," he said.
To sum up, this funeral home in Acajutla is taking the Barbie doll trend to unprecedented heights with its unique pink Barbie doll coffins. Whether in life or in death, people can carry their love for Barbie dolls forward.

Cremation Services in Redlands - What You Need to Know
Tumblr media
Cremation Services in Redlands are a convenient and cost-effective way to dispose of the ashes of your loved one. However, there are some important aspects of this type of service that you need to understand.
The funeral specialist you select to help with the planning and logistics of a death will explain these in detail. They will also make sure that all necessary paperwork is handled in a timely manner. To know more about Cremation Services in Redlands, visit the Farewell Funerals website or call 0404660974.
When a person dies, there are many things that need to be taken care of. Whether it is finding out the legal next of kin, arranging a funeral, or taking care of the deceased's paperwork, it can be very stressful to try and get everything in order on your own.
The best way to get all of these tasks done is to hire a funeral specialist who will do all of the work for you in Redlands CA. This will save you time, money and stress.
One option that you can choose with a cremation is to place the ashes in an urn for permanent storage and display at home or a special memorial garden. This can be a very meaningful way to remember your loved one.
It can also be a great idea to scatter the ashes in several places that were special to your loved one, such as a favorite park or a sea disposition. This can be a very moving way to honor your loved one, but it is important to follow local laws about scattering ashes in certain locations.
Planning in advance can help you make choices that fit your needs and budget. It also spares your family from having to make decisions at a difficult time.
A prepaid cremation can be an easy way to get started and save on funeral costs in Redlands CA. There are a variety of packages that can be purchased and designed according to your needs.
An increasingly popular option is a cremation with a memorial service or celebration of life. This arrangement includes a beautiful container for ashes and a memorial service at a place of worship or the funeral home.
The services can be held immediately following a cremation or many weeks or months later at a time that is convenient for everyone in the family. It’s a special way to remember and celebrate the person you love.
You can also choose to have your ashes scattered at sea, at a private location or anywhere else you desire. It’s important to be aware that some places have restrictions on ashes scattering, so it’s essential to check with local authorities before deciding where and when you will scatter your loved one’s ashes.
Cremation is an excellent way to say goodbye and honor the deceased, but once the body has been cremated, the ashes need to be handled. A funeral specialist can help with the process, ensuring that everything goes according to plan.
Some families choose to bury their loved one’s ashes, while others will scatter them at sea or in a special place that reminds them of their beloved. It’s important to consider the legal and ethical issues related to each option before making a decision.
The burial of a body is generally governed by California state law, but the ash disposal process may be regulated by federal laws. For example, if you want to bury your loved one’s ashes at sea, the MPRSA generally permits it, as long as it takes place at least three nautical miles offshore and in a vessel that is capable of sinking quickly and permanently.
You can also scatter ashes in non-ocean waters, like lakes and rivers, but some states prohibit this practice. You should check with your state’s environmental or health agencies for any restrictions that may apply to inland water scattering.
The legal next of kin (the person who is closest in a relationship to the deceased) is generally defined as the spouse or registered domestic partner, but other people in an adult blood line such as parents, siblings and adult children may also qualify. These kin are the ones who can make the important decisions regarding cremation services in Redlands, CA.
When you find out that a loved one has passed away, you should immediately begin planning for the funeral or cremation services in Redlands. This includes obtaining a death certificate and other relevant paperwork such as a cremation permit.
Once you have everything in order, it is time to call a cremation specialist. They can take care of all the important details and will be able to answer your questions in more detail. In addition, they can help you to make the right choices for your loved one and ensure that your wishes are respected. To know more about Cremation Services in Redlands, visit the Farewell Funerals website or call 0404660974.

Factors to Consider While Choosing the Right Urn
When a family member passes away, the family has to engage in multiple things single handedly. The members have to mourn, attend to the guests coming to the home and at the same time, make arrangements for the last ceremony or funeral. In this situation, the services of funeral directors are mandatory, as they take the burden of arranging the funeral ceremony away from your shoulders.
They are the experts in their field and, right from the beginning to the end, ensure that everything is executed as per the family's traditions and religious beliefs. The most crucial process, where they help in selecting the suitable urn for storing the ashes after the cremation. This is a daunting experience, but they will help you choose the suitable urn and celebrate the life that the deceased lived.
Tumblr media
Things to Consider While Choosing Your Urn
The Use
Before deciding about the final urn, you should consider how you will use it. If you plan to display it at your home, funeral directors recommend choosing something worth displaying. As a part of funeral director services, they will help you select a specific design, material, size and urn that has better overall aesthetics. If you wish to bury it, then you can compromise on the design or looks. You can also choose urns made from biodegradable materials.
Tumblr media
Funeral Material and Design
The first pointer above will be crucial in selecting the material and design. There are several materials available in terms of urns, and again, whether you want to keep it or home or bury it will be decisive. These urns used at funerals can be made up of wood, natural stone, steel, glass or ceramic, and as said above, the design is your personal decision. If you wish to keep it at your home, funeral directors' Sydney services allow you to get unique customisation done as per your family's religious belief or the wishes of the deceased.
Tumblr media
The Size
Funeral urns offered by funeral directors services come in different sizes ranging from small to medium and large sizes. The size relies on factors like the height and weight of the deceased, and your funeral director would be the right person to help you determine the correct size. They will use their experience and body assessment to decide whether or not you require a small urn or something larger. In most cases, a medium to large-sized urn is ideal based on the average size of the people living in Australia. However, if any uncertainty is there, you should not mind contacting the funeral director before purchasing and asking for help in choosing an appropriate urn.

It is essential that you judge the location in person to know if the space will accommodate the guests and how long the commute will be. Usually, funeral directors cover the 10 to 15 km and charge extra to cover the travel expenses. For example, some funeral directors prefer not to travel out of the city for funerals.

Prepaid funerals are a form of estate planning, and they can help to reduce the financial burden on family members after death. They are a popular choice for those who want to guarantee that their final wishes will be fulfilled, and they can also be used to save money by locking in prices now.
However, there are some risks associated with prepaid funerals. If a funeral home goes out of business, or you move, you may not be able to get your money back.

How to Lower the Cost of Funerals and Cremation in Australia
When planning the funeral of a loved one or pre-planning your own, it’s important to know that you have many options available to you. While it’s still very common to have a traditional funeral service, cremation is becoming an increasingly popular choice for Australian families. A recent study found that the cost of a funeral can be as much as $13,000, which can cause significant stress on a family after the loss of a friend or relative. Fortunately, there are some ways to help lower the cost of cremation in Australia.
The most expensive aspect of a funeral is the cost of the burial plot, followed by the funeral services. This is because the prices of burial plots have been rising rapidly due to the shrinking land supply. However, other costs can also add up, such as transport fees, coffin or casket hire and the cost of a memorial service.
Choosing a cremation package that only includes the essential services can be a good way to save money. A basic funeral package usually includes the transfer of the body into the care of a funeral director, a simple wooden or cardboard casket and any required government paperwork, such as the death certificate. This package can be as little as $3,000, although it will increase if you wish to have a viewing or have a funeral service beforehand.
Another option to consider is a direct cremation, which can be less than half the price of a traditional funeral. With a direct cremation, the body is simply transferred into the crematorium without a ceremony or mourners present. Prices for direct cremations vary between funeral homes, so it’s best to ask for an itemised quote before committing. However, it’s worth pointing out that the cost of a direct cremation isn’t necessarily cheaper than a traditional funeral as some costs will still apply such as professional fees for the funeral director, cost of a gravestone or headstone and any additional charges from the crematorium or burial ground.
If you choose a cremation service, you will need to decide what you would like to do with the ashes. Some people choose to keep them at home, while others prefer to scatter them in a special place that holds fond memories for them. There are also memorial urns that can be used to hold the ashes, which come in a range of styles and materials. There are also fixed memorials that can be erected, such as monuments, trees and gardens, which can help to preserve the location.
There are also funeral bonds and funeral insurance plans that can be a great way to help lower the cost of funerals. These can help you pay for a funeral or cremation in the event of your death, which will remove some of the financial stress from your loved ones and ensure that they receive the service that you want them to have. A prepaid funeral plan is also an excellent option to consider, as it locks in the cost of your funeral and can save you thousands.

Yesterday morning my mom passed away.
Dying and death can be ugly. Some people have prolonged illnesses and hospitalization. Others are in pain. Some folks might be all alone.
This was none of those things.
My mom (Betty) had some heart issues over the years and was under the good care of doctors. Cathy my sister had come over in the morning to drive my mom to an doctor appointment. As everyone in my family does, Cathy got there early. She chatted with my mom and dad (Henry). Then my mom put her head on the table and was out. Cathy called 911. Paramedics and police officers arrived quickly. But there wasn’t much they could do. After a time they stopped resuscitation efforts.
My dad called me. I called Jim and Emily. We met at the apartment as the last police officer gave her condolences and left. Then we waited for the funeral home people to arrive.
The paramedics had placed my mom in her bed, covered partially with a blanket. We could see her face. Her husband and all four of her children were there at her side. We cried a little. We reminisced. We thought quietly. It was an ideal way to say goodbye if you ask me.
As a young parent 27 years ago I remember getting up in the night to verify that our baby was breathing. I thought of that when my dad said he sometimes woke at night and listened to make sure my mom was breathing.
Two nice women from the funeral home arrived after what I thought was the right amount of time for us to say goodbye. My dad signed a form. Then they departed with my mom.
She loved iced tea (no lemon!). Her morning glass was still on the kitchen counter, the ice cubes barely melted. It was weird seeing her last glass of tea. Bookshelves containing cookbooks with pages marked for things she planned to make made me sad and happy.
Today we met with a representative from the funeral home. That went well, I thought. He had answers to questions we didn’t even think to ask. My parents had prepaid the funeral years ago. That made things go smoothly. We made a few choices, and my dad signed more forms. Now we’re just waiting on confirmation from my parents’ church for the date of the funeral mass next week.
My wife already lost both of her parents. I watched what Sheila went through and what she had to deal with, from paperwork to grieving. It’s nice that I can benefit from her experiences.
The night before she passed, my mom and dad ate dinner with Emily and Mike. Afterwards they stopped at my house. Sheila made a big batch of tomato basil soup and chocolate chip cookies and packaged some for them to take home. Jim had been meeting them for brunch often. Cathy and my dad were there right at the end. I’m glad we were all close.
