"Yoo-hoo!" Someone was calling out to you from afar, a dark silhouette against the afternoon sun, waving energetically as they came closer. Levi set down his tea cup with a sigh.

"That's why we should've had teatime in my office," he muttered.

"But it's such a nice day! It would've been a crime not to make the most of this perfect spring weather. Besides, you could really use some sun." You gestured at his pale complexion, earning you a scoff.

"I think I can do without. I'm not a plant. I'd rather have tea in peace than–"

"There you are! I've been looking all over for you!" Hange interrupted, having finally reached the wooden table near the horses' paddocks where you'd convinced Levi to spend your teatime. "Got some mail for you!"

You squinted up at Hange, eyeing the brown package they eagerly thrust toward you. "What? For me? Are you sure?" During your entire time in the scouts, you hadn't received a single package. You didn't even attend mail call anymore.

"It sure has your name on it. But if you don't want it..." Hange teasingly pulled the package out of your reach.

"Noo I want it!" you exclaimed, jumping up from your seat to reach for it. When you snatched it from Hange's hands, you let out a surprised huff of air. It was heavier than it looked.

"Who could it be from?" You turned it in your hands, looking for the sender. There it was, written in a neat, elegant script: Pierre's premium porcelain pottery, Millstone Alley 15, Mitras.

You squealed. "It's from Pierre!"

"Who's Pierre?" Levi asked with a frown.

"The potter I told you about – the one who specializes in tea sets, where I also got your birthday present." The grin on your face was nothing short of ecstatic as you settled back onto the bench, the precious package pressed to your chest.

Levi didn't seem to share your enthusiasm. "Did you order another one? You already have so many."

"I swear, I didn't order anything! And I don't even have that many... Just seven. Okay, maybe eight. But there's no such thing as too many tea sets!"

"Remind me again, who was complaining just the other day that they're running out of space in the barracks?" Levi raised an eyebrow.

"I can always put up another shelf…" you pouted.

"Uh-oh, do I sense a lover's quarrel coming on?" Hange chimed in, a playful grin on their lips. "I better run before you make me pick a side."

Levi rolled his eyes. "Yeah, go ahead. Best idea you had all day, four eyes."

"You're just saying that because you know they'd be on my side." You flashed Levi a grin.

"Tch, you wish. All I want is some peace and quiet around here."

"You may have picked the wrong company for that," Hange said with a wink, giving a nod in your direction where you were now gleefully tearing the brown packing paper from the box.

Levi's only response was a pointed glare in Hange's direction – his signature death glare, no less.

They put up their hands in mock surrender. "Okay, okay, I get it. She's the apple of your eye, your one and only… of course you'd make an exception for her."

Levi grumbled something under his breath, too quiet to be understood.

Hange chuckled. "Yep, time to leave if I want to make it out alive."

With one last smirk, they turned and walked away, leaving Levi shaking his head.

You barely paid any attention to the exchange, too excited to see what was in the mystery box.

With a dramatic flourish, you lifted the lid, revealing a card with elegant handwriting mirroring the one on the box.

Spring has come, and with it a new collection. Enclosed you will find its distinguished centerpiece. With heartfelt gratitude for the inspiration, Pierre.

Curiosity piqued, you reached deeper into the box and retrieved the rest. It was a tea set, complete with two cups, saucers, and a matching pot. Each piece featured a familiar cat, its nose wrinkled in mild disgruntlement. Cat-Levi.

You gasped. "It's you!"

"It's Herbert," Levi said dryly.

He had picked up one of the cups and gingerly turned it between his fingers.

"You remember that?" you asked, stunned.

"Of course I do."

You felt a smile spread across your face. "It's actually you. If you were a cat."

Levi snorted. "That's ridiculous. It looks nothing like me."

You leaned over the table and held the cup next to his face. "Not true. You're both very cute." In the pink-golden hue of the low afternoon sun, it almost looked like he was blushing. Almost. Levi let out a quiet huff. "You said the same thing back then, too. About the cat."

You tilted your head, eyes drifting upward as you pondered the question. "Did I?"

"You did."

"Hmm. Guess I already had a thing for you then." You put the cup down, leaning in even further. "But I remember doing this." You planted a quick peck on his cheek and pulled back slightly, a playful spark in your eyes.

"You always did have a way of surprising me," Levi murmured, his gaze lingering on your face.

"Trust me, I surprise myself a lot, too. I don't even know what I'll do next half the time." You chuckled softly, leaning back. "But I do like where it's taken me."

For moment, neither of you said a word.

"Hey, Levi?"

"Mhm?"

"If we ever do manage to rid the world of the Titans, and there is no need for the scouts anymore... would you like to open a tea shop with me?"

"I would like that."

"I'm glad." You beamed at him. "You could be in charge of the tea leaves. And I'd learn pottery so we could sell our own porcelain. Ohh, maybe we could do a bird design next! With their wings spread wide, like the wings of freedom! Or we could do one with Titans! I'm sure Hange would love that."

"I don't think the latter would sell too well," Levi remarked dryly.

"Maybe not. But we could do limited editions, each teacup unique with a different design…" You continued to lay out your plans like that, bathed in the soft glow of the setting sun, until the shadows grew long and the air grew cold. Teatime slipped away, giving way to the night. He didn't even notice. Your smile was so warm and bright, how could he look at anything else?

Wow, that was fast! You had entered an online competition to become one of the beta-testers for the first model of their Home-Android line, and luck must have been on your side, because you actually won!

Putting your phone down, you scrambled through your room, hurriedly pulling on something more presentable than pajamas and hastily combing your hair into place.

Frantically running through your apartment, you tried to clear away stray clothes and dishes. You were so caught up in tidying that you almost tripped as the doorbell rang.

Sure, the Android was technically designed to help with housekeeping, but the delivery person didn’t need to know just how much you actually needed it.

Opening the door, you were greeted by a large cardboard box perched on a trolley, nearly obscuring the man in a green Weyland uniform and matching cap as he peeked out from behind it, checking his clipboard.

"Y/N L/N. Is that correct?"

You nodded, stepping aside to let him wheel the massive package into your living room. Once it was set down, he handed you an impressively thick manual and tapped on its cover.

"Here’s the QR code for the app. Please use it to send feedback or report any issues you encounter."

With a grunt of effort, he hefted the package off the trolley, left it in the middle of your living room, and exited your apartment without another word.

What.

Blinking, you stood frozen for a moment before heading to the kitchen to grab a pair of scissors. With a decisive stab into the parcel tape, you sliced through the middle of the box.

Inside was a beautiful man- wait, no. Android. Oh. A very beautiful Android.

You flicked through the manual, scanning for activation instructions. Ah, here it was. To activate, press a small sensor located behind his right ear for five seconds.

Taking a breath, you reached out and pressed the spot. Moments later, his eyes opened, and after a brief pause, his gaze locked onto yours.

Now he was the one blinking, his brows furrowing slightly as he began testing his limbs. With deliberate movements, he stepped out of the box.

“Good day, Ma’am,” he said in a voice that was smooth, polite, and just a touch mechanical. “My name is David 1. I will serve as your assistant and companion, ready to assist you with whatever you may require.”

He extended a hand, stiff but purposeful. “May I ask what I should call you?”

And that's how daily life with David began.

It was really weird to configure your timezone for something that looked so human, and to enter a PIN code for him via an app??

And the ads. You weren’t safe from ads, either. Sometimes, when he didn’t have anything to do, he would just stand around or sit on the couch and start citing commercials.

The first time it happened, you almost spat out the tea he had made for you beforehand.

“Would you like to renew your Audible subscription? The first three months are only $0.99.”

As you choked on your beverage, David stared at you apologetically before quickly getting up and patting your back to help.

“Sorry, (Y/N), I didn’t mean to surprise you. You can turn it off with the Premium Subscription for $19.99 per month.”

Putting your cup down, still coughing, you turned to him.

“I have to pay for that? Seriously?”

After a while, you noticed that even David got annoyed by the interruptions, disliking how your conversations were suddenly stopped by yet another commercial for shaving cream.

The two of you made it your mission to bypass ads with free trials he found online. He even read your books to you instead of you paying for another damn subscription.

HelloFresh? He grew vegetables on your windowsill. Man, he was amazing at making fresh pasta.

“FOR FUCK'S SAKE, I DON’T WANT YOUTUBE PREMIUM! THIS APP SHOULD BE ABLE TO PLAY VIDEOS IN THE BACKGROUND WITHOUT ME PAYING FOR IT!”

You shouted in frustration. The ads were SO annoying, and you couldn’t turn them off!

David blinked, and for a moment you thought he had lagged as he processed your words. Then he answered.

“If you give me permission via verbal verification, I could enter the darknet and download an adblock mod. It’s a bit risky, but my firewall should be sufficient to withstand any viruses.”

You hesitated, not wanting to risk his functionality. But when he one day started quoting a Viagra advertisement like those on Tumblr, you caved.

“Please enter the darknet and find that mod. I can’t take this anymore.”

So he did. And you got really fucking scared for a moment, because one of his eyes twitched and stayed half-open, like your old dolls when you tilted them sideways. Oh shit, did you break him? Please, please, please no- oh. Oh God.

He needed a second to install and initialize. His expression reminded you of your Furby with dying batteries that suddenly came to life in the middle of the night, croaking its last words. But after another minute, he was fine.

This action had some side effects, though.

He still worked perfectly - cleaning the dishes, doing the laundry, watering the plants, until he suddenly called you a donkey while you were cooking. With an awfully familiar voice.

You stared at him. “Excuse me?”

“That wasn’t me,” he replied in his normal voice, furrowing his brows.

Nodding slowly, you turned back to add meat to your sauce, only to be interrupted by:

“Why did the chicken cross the road? Because you didn’t fucking cook it!”

Instead of getting annoyed, you broke down laughing, and even David couldn’t hide a grin as he watched you sink to the kitchen floor.

“I seem to have caught a serious case of Gordon Ramsay.”

That was it. you were officially cackling like a hen. On the ground. Crying.

It wasn’t so bad, really. He functioned just fine, even though he occasionally squawked like a bird at random. But you just squawked right back. Just normal ADHD things, to be honest.

At the end of the day, he became your illegally modded roommate, sitting with you on the couch, your legs sprawled over his lap as you both munched on popcorn.

You still weren’t entirely sure where the food he sometimes ate with you went, but you decided not to question it.

Weyland never got their Android back, you hid him in your closet that one time they tried to collect him after the testing period was over.

“I have the power of God and anime on my side,” your favorite person declared.

“Yes, David, you do,” you replied with a smile.

The greatest part of Christmas has never been the presents or the food, no. It was being with your loved ones and seeing the joy and light in their eyes. To know you have spent valuable time with them and created lasting memories.

More memories were about to be made, as everyone gathered around the tree after a great dinner, to exchange gifts. You and the Wallies had agreed to play Secret Santa this year, to ensure that everyone got at least one present.

RF was first to recieve his gift. It was from Hunter, who gave it to him with a shit-eating grin. Oh boi-

RF raised a suspicious eyebrow, but didn't say anything. He quietly opened his present and made a noise, that was half snort and half groan. Then he revealed a pair of cat ears, that could be clipped into his hair. They were fittingly blue, too...

The room erupted into quiet giggles.

"Really, Hunter?", RF asked, a teensy bit annoyed.

Hunter just shrugged. "Couldn't help myself there, dude-"

(Luckily you also had a present for him: A brand new coffee mug, with a pretty rainbow glaze and a bag of his favorite coffee.)

Next was Hunter, who recieved his gift from Mob.

It was... A gun.

Mob gifted him a gun.

"Every good hunter needs a good gun~" Mob slyly remarked upon the surprised silence in the room.

Hunter just smiled awkwardly and quickly stored the weapon away safely.

Mob got a gift from Original. A cute drawing of Mob and him next to a Christmas tree, surrounded by presents.

"I hope you like it...", OG said shyly, which caused Mob to ruffle his hair.

"Don't worry, I like it. It's adorable. Let's put it on the fridge later, hm?"

Opposite was the one responsible for OG's gift. Surprisingly, he actually smiled, when he gave OG a box. Your confusion was quickly lifted however, when you figured out the box was empty, as OG peeked inside it. Poor little dood was confused as all heck, but he remained polite anway.

"Oh, a new storage box for art supplies! Thank you, Opposite.", he said with a genuine smile.

(Thankfully you had actual art supplies for him to store in the empty box. A present he found much easier to appreciate.)

Opposite got his gift from Reboot. It was a book titled "How To Smile :)"

Opposite imediately threw the book at Reboot, who caught it with ease. To tease his grumpy buddy, he opened the book and started to read the first chapter to him aloud.

It took some gentle nudging from Jazzie to stop Reboot from reading and opening his own present: A new DS game! Reboot smiled happily and hugged Jazzie. Then he retrieved his DS from his room and got straight to gaming.

Now was Jazzie's turn to open his present. It was crudely wrapped in butcher's paper and someone wrote on it with sharpie.

"For: Jazzie From: Butch :P"

Jazzy forced a tight lipped smile and looked at the butcher, who was watching him with an excited grin.

"Butchy, what's in there?"

"Premium sausages! I promise it's pork!", Butcher exclaimed enthusiastically, no real malice in his voice.

Jazzie's smile tightened more, as he carefully set the gift aside, still unopened. "You do know I'm vegetarian, right?"

Butch's face dropped and turned sheepish. "Oh-"

(You jumped in to save the day and gave Jazzie some organically sourced, herabl teas to try. Which he really liked!)

Butcher recieved a gift from Royal, who gave it to him presonally, proud as ever. It was kinda big...

"This has been salvaged from the finest furs my hunters aquired this season.", Royal explained to Butcher.

Butcher then unrolled a mighty fine looking fur cloak. A clothing article, you yourself probably would have worn as well.

Aaaaand Butch mistook it for a blanket- Eh, close enough Butch. At least he'll use it to keep warm either way-

Royal's gift came in the shape of a small envelope. It contained a small Christmas card made by Gray. Gray seemed to be a little ashamed about it.

"I'm sorry it's all grey, Royal...", he mumbled meekly.

"Nonsense, young one!" Royal quickly butted in, crouching down and pulling him closer in a gentle maner. "Never be sorry for pouring time, effort and love into a gift for another, no matter the shape or color it has."

While he continued to give Gray a heartwarming peptalk, Lovesick shuffled over to them to give Gray his gift. It was scarf Lovesick actually knitted himself, while he learned it together with you!

He put it around Gray and gave him a short hug to help cheer him up.

Now it was Lovesick's turn to recieve his presents. And oh, he was the happiest, most lucky puppet alive, when it was revealed, that you were the one giving him his gift! The most fashionable of all beanies! Selfmade! He imedately put it on and didn't take it off for the rest of the evening.

You smiled fondly at his antics. Your smile didn't fade, when Killer approached you and gave you your own gift: A... Note?

Curiously you unfloded the small piece of paper. Only to discover...

It was death threat. Killer gifted you a death threat. How lovely...!

You chuckled nervously and distracted him with an apple, like you usually did. For extra safety, you'd later force RF to have a sleepover with you and keep you safe-

Aaanywhow! Priest was the one responsible for Killer's gift. Solemnly he gave it to Killer, with the reminder to take good care of it.

Killer only grimaced as he unpacked the Holy Book from Priest's religion.

Priest got a gift from Watcher. He must've been the chosen one to speedrun depression this year, cause all he got was socks-

(You gave him a bottle of wine, to which he replied: "Thank you, I'll cherish this.")

Watcher recieved a gift from Swan: Some new classical music to enjoy, while he chatted with his viewers. Watcher seemed to really like this present. Dang, you never knew he was a classical music type of guy-

Actor made a bit of a scene out of giving his present to Swan, potraying himself as overly generous and well-meaning. Turns out he gifted Swan a new pair of ballet shoes from some well known brand, that were kinda expensive.

Thankfully Swan was ecstatic to break them in and try them out.

The circle of gift giving closed itself, when RF finally stood up to give his gift to Actor. Actor thanked him curtly and opened the box. His eyes widened when he pulled out three pairs of cute bows out of the box. All the same kind of bow he wore every day. Except two of the three came in obnoxious neon colors and the third one was a sickly green-

Actor glared at RF, who apparently was immune against that and just shrugged.

"You said you wanted to become more experimental with your fashion choices next year, so I thought I help you out with these.", he calmly explained.

"That's not what I-! Ugh, nevermind! Thanks, I guess." Actor tried his hardest to keep his cool.

He'd find a creative solution for these bows, surely. As long as it doesn't involve putting them on himself.

Lastly, more gifts and cards were exchanged between those, who were closer friends, but didn't end up being each others secret santa.

Funnily enough, you've recieved a lot more presents that day.

Nevertheless, you reminded yourself, that it was never the presents, that were the greatest thing about Christmas, but the time and joy you shared with your loved ones.
