Itacho Sushi (板长寿司) is currently holding a Premium Hokkaido Scallop Festival with up to 30 per cent off their range of innovative scallop items. As a seafood lover, I can’t afford to miss this chance to savour the shellfishes. Heading to the branch at ION Orchard on a weekday morning to beat the peak lunch time crowd.

Flipping through the online menu via the tablet, I quickly zoomed in to the Scallop Sushi promotion page and started sending the items to the cart. Took a slightly longer time to decide which are the dishes I wanted as they all look equally delectable. In the meantime, scooped out a small spoonful of wasabi and poured soy sauce over it.

Didn’t have to wait for long before the first plate of sushi was served. From the left are two each of Roasted Salmon Skin Soya Sauce (S$1++ each) and Roasted Salmon Skin Soya Sauce with Cod Fish Caviar Mayo (S$1.20++ each) sushi. The salmon sushi were melt in the mouth soft and so yummy. If not because the restaurant limits each customer to just two pieces per type, I would have order it over and over again.

The three scallop sushi on the right side of the plate are Roasted Scallop Sushi (S$3.50++), Roasted Scallop with Black Truffle Sushi (S$3.90++) and Roasted Scallop with Cod Fish Caviar Sushi (S$3.70++). All three of the scallop items were so fresh and sweet tasting just like those I had in Hokkaido. The toppings on the two of the sushi enhanced the overall flavours to raise it up a notch.

The next plate I ordered is the 3 Kinds Scallop Sushi Set (S$5.80++). The scallops are un-torched and came with different toppings of tobiko mayo (seasoned flying fish roe), black truffle (paste form) and lobster salad with avocado. Again the raw scallops were just so yummy and the toppings complemented the whole package.

The last dish to be served is this Baked Scallop Spicy Salmon Mayo Egg with Rice (S$8.40++). A beautiful dish topped with six scallops, an egg and baked till golden brown. The creamy and spicy salmon mayonnaise completely covered the white rice underneath. The oozing egg yolk added a wholesome goodness to the rice dish. Even as I walked to the cashier to pay the bill, I am already planning on the next trip to try out the other dishes on the menu.

Walked around and helped myself to Norway Lobster with Chilli Crab Sauce and Fried Mantou. Now, the lobsters were warm and the chilli crab sauce fantastic when you eat it with the mantou but alas, the spiny lobsters weren’t as fresh and succulent as they should be with some on the mushy side.

I enjoyed the Salted Egg Prawn so much that I had seconds. They were not only crunchy but also savoury and sweet with a coating of salted egg yolk sauce. Even better is that I don’t have to deshell them. I think this was my favourite item of the night and my colleague agreed with me.

I avoided the Seafood Spaghetti as the noodles would fill me up and I rather spent it on the other premium proteins. The restaurant was very generous with the Hong Kong Style Barramundi as the fish came in chunky cuts sitting in soya sauce.

Very stereotypical of me but in the Ares cabin, the strongest is the leader and their word is law, if you disagree, you gotta participate in a one on one fight of choice (it doesn't matter that much if you win, at least you still prove your bravery and the courage to stand up for what you believe in). Meanwhile, the Athena cabin votes on everything. And yes, they are proud of it. And yes, they have senate level debates where everyone uses whatever dirt they have on the others to win (because they probably know too much gossip without even really intending to) sometimes. Only sometimes.

Also. They have ostrakism which is basically a thing where you break a pot/vase/something, each person gets a piece and carves on the name of someone who is endangering democracy in their option. The person with the most votes gets chased out I think. Athena kids have changed up that part, they simply ban that person from voting for 6 months.

Always expressionless, I had the impression that he had forgotten his emotions in the past.

However, Nokto had a smile on his face from the moment we met.

Even if it was fake, unlike Prince Licht, he had a facial expression.

As someone who’s good at lying, I had no idea that there was a time when he “wasn’t lying.”

While I was doing that, I noticed the color of the sky had changed and the sun was about to set on the horizon.

When we were walking along the beach together, Nokto suddenly stopped.

Nokto: “…hey, aren’t you curious?”

Emma: “What?”

Nokto: “You don’t have to play stupid. There are lots of things you want to know, right?”

Today, I thought I had it all figured out, but there was one thing I couldn’t get out of my head.

Listening to the sound of the waves, I hesitate, and the scent of the sea calms my heart.

Emma: “Nokto, why did you study in Benitoite for a short time?”

I intended to ask the question in the brightest possible voice.

I added a smile, not to allow the darkness of the past to hold me captive.

Nokto: “What do you think Benitoite is?”

Emma: “A country of the sea and trade—right?”

Nokto: “Yes, I came to Benitoite to learn how to do business.”

Nokto: “I used to want to be a merchant.”

Emma: “I didn’t know that.”

Nokto: “Do you know the first Prince of Benitoite?”

Emma: “You mean Prince Silvio? I’ve only heard of him by name.”

(If I remember correctly, he was the driving force behind Benitoite’s many successful voyages and he was also a master of business.)

Nokto: “Silvio made his fortune through his private business and now he’s the richest man on the continent.”

Nokto: “He’s exactly the kind of prince who embodied my childhood dreams.”

Nokto: “…I’m not sure about his personality.”

(I see. You admired him, didn’t you, Nokto?)

While it fills me with smiles, it also worries me.

I still hadn’t grasped what the sorrow in his red eyes meant.

As far as I’d heard of his past dreams, I didn’t sense anything dark, but…
